Apr 28, 2017Stunningly stylish and with an irresistibly kinetic sense of motion, Kamiko is a true gem. It's a quick ride, to be sure, but gorgeous pixel-art visuals, a lush soundtrack and three very different characters with plenty of speedrunning potential make it well worth coming back to. A uniquely appealing, action-packed package for less than the price of a prayer plaque, this is an easy recommendation for any Switch owner.

Apr 21, 2017A charming little game that melds action and puzzle elements together quite nicely, Kamiko is a pleasure to play and experience. It doesn't last too long, and some of the enemies are rather easy to dispatch - but the different characters and their unique weapons make it a good game to replay, and the speedrun elements add to the fun. Overall it's a great way to spend a few hours, and that cheap launch price definitely doesn't hurt its value any.

Jul 21, 2017Kamiko's quaint, pick-up-and-play nature makes it a fantastic fit on Nintendo's versatile console.

Nintendo Force MagazineJun 23, 2017If you're looking for a traditional top-down action/puzzler to play in short bursts, Kamiko won't disappoint. [Issue #28 – July/August 2017, p. 22]

May 5, 2017It's short and simple, but Kamiko is a good action adventure that is worth every cent of its price and even more.
-
May 2, 2017Kamiko is a fun pick-up and play experience, with great visuals, good gameplay, and makes for a fun retro-inspired experience. It’s worth exploring the game with each of the 3 characters just to see how different they actually play, which adds some replay value to the title. If you are looking for an inexpensive game for a weekend playthrough, Kamiko is a good pick.

Apr 24, 2017If you are looking for a quick game, KAMIKO will absolutely serve will you well. It has all the markings of a great game with entertaining gameplay, sharp visuals and a solid flow. I had fun replaying the four stages and seeing how I could improve over time. That being said, I can easily admit that the game is super short and the levels won't change on future playthroughs. If you have seen the content once, you will know the game inside out. That might a sticking point for some, but the various characters do make it worth your while.

Apr 21, 2017I absolutely love the colorful art style that makes up the set pieces that themselves tell a story of a forgotten post-apocalyptic world, and the soundtrack is composed of retro-inspired chiptunes.

May 4, 2017Kakimo is arguably a stunning game with its own personality and sense of joy, surprising with that pixel-art visuals. Easy to recommend for any Nintendo Switch owner as its prize is really fair, but we would have liked to have more difficulty and length in the whole adventure.
-
May 17, 2017Kamiko is an accessible and well-designed experience that will put its players frantically trying new tactics in order to finish the game as quickly as possible. This might not sound very groundbreaking but Kamiko certainly provides incentives to its players to try to complete it in a shorter time and its challenging nature means that those who pick it up will have something they can spend some fun hours with.
-
May 14, 2017Kamiko sets up to be a nice little Legend of Zelda clone with great gameplay. Does it capture the same magic Zelda did, though? Not really. The game lacks the same charm and sophistication these games had, and falls short in the length department. But still, it's a good game with fun gameplay that you can play on the go and with a price tag that low I can recommend it to fans of the genre.
-
May 11, 2017Kamiko aims for Zelda-lite but falls way too short of the mark due to dull design, simple puzzles, and levels which lack substance.
-
May 7, 2017There are small glimpses that Kamiko could’ve been something more. I liked the rapid gameplay flow it’s going for. Stages are quick to get through and that works for me on the Switch. I just wish there was some variety to them between each of the characters though. For example, a stage could’ve had a new layout and objects in place that only the archer can hit. There’s no harm giving Kamiko a try because of its low price point, but there are much better alternatives.
-
May 3, 2017Kamiko costs about $4.99 and can be beaten in under an hour. Visually, it is nothing impressive or interesting... There are far better looking pixel art games out there on the Switch, such as Blaster Master Zero. The core mechanics aren't broken or anything, it is completely serviceable, but it just lacks anything of interest to make Kamiko worth any time at all.
