    This is one of the greats as far as Sony IPs, but the $70 price tag on a game that has minimal improvements and dated gameplay mechanics makes this a hard pill to swallow. I'm not so petty as to give this a 0 as some here have, but this is overpriced and incomplete.

    It looks great but you can’t really justify spending $70(more in other countries) on a game that feels so dated and out of place. This would be better as a rental as it doesn’t even have any of the multiplayer features.

    It has very good graphics, but it’s not what they promised regarding the gameplay, it has new textures and resolution, but it keeps the same Gameplay, Movements, Story and All the same scenes, low fps. The Last of Us Part I: besides, it is also the most Expensive Remake in the History of Video Games, they are selling it more expensive than Resident Evil 2 & Fanal Fantasy VII Remake, butIt has very good graphics, but it’s not what they promised regarding the gameplay, it has new textures and resolution, but it keeps the same Gameplay, Movements, Story and All the same scenes, low fps.     While this game does admittedly deliver very nice graphics and is the same Last Of Us we all know and love, this is very dull when we consider this is a game released nearly a decade ago and it's $70 and it doesn't even have multiplayer like the first Last Of Us did!     If you put gameplay and story over better graphics, dont buy this game and just buy the ps4 remaster. This game has nothing to do with a remake. It is just a re-remaster with better graphics.

    Bought the game to play the new updated Factions which I enjoyed so much many years ago and it's not there? How could I have paid more money than the original and there is less content? What a rip off, i'm seriously pissed off.

How joel and tess met and their past events. Then Marlene and ellie's events before they met Joel and tess for the job to smuggle her. But they chosed to be lazy. These additions would've been amazing and definitely worth it, not this copy and paste game. Again don't buy.     A "Remake" that is nothing more then a Remaster from a Remaster for 70€. Look at Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core where Square Enix even said it will be a Remaster. Sony and ND try to sell the same Game (what is a little overhyped btw.) for a third Time under the Banner: "Remake".

    Comparison to the Remastered version:
    Improvements: 1.Graphical fidelity (poligon count) in character models and assets (almost everything is new and looks awesome) 2. Facial animations expressing Emotions almost realisticly 3.     4. 3D Audio is good but its actually surround sound rebranded, but still a lot better than the remaster and improves the immersion

    Dissapointing:
    1. Ellie cant dodge or go prone (not only in base game but also in Left behind)
    2. Characters look much older , Joel looks older than in TLOU2, Ellie looks 5 years older. Tess looks realy old so it feels not as emotional when she dies like in the Remaster (because she seemed younger it was harder to let go)
    3. The AI improvements are not as good as advertised, enemies rarely flank and Ellie still sometimes runs in front of them while in a stealth section
    4. The DualSense features are not as good as advertised, especially the different guns feel almost the same when shooting (except the shotgun), bow is decent at best
    5. Characters clip sometimes trough Joel when getting in cover (ex: Ellie or Tess when covering with Joel next to him)
    6. The Remaster ran at 1800p/60fps, this one runs at 1440p/60fps in performance mode.
    7. Some textures are low res like books and TV which is especially noticable.
    8. Lack of multiplayer (They will charge you another 70$ for it)
    9. Loading screens indicate that the game was built on a PS4 engine because it does not use the PS5 deco pression (look at NXGamer review on YouTube, on his channel not IGN ponies)
    10. Bugs and glitches are present, especially when taken ojt by explosions.
    11. The game costs 70$ which is more than the Original, Remaster or even TLOU2 when it came out.
    12. No improvements to gameplay so the game looks like a downgrade to TLOU2.
    13. Graphics were made in an PS4 engine so the game doesnt look much better than TLOU2.
    14. Camera mode centers around Joel/Ellie and is pretty much pointless because of it.
    10. Game is a ps5 exclusive and looks almost the same as TLOU4 and plays worse and less fluid (although TLOU2 is a PS4 game)    … Expand

    Loved the original, finished singleplayer 3 times (PS3 and PS4), multiplayer was absolutely amazing, one of best multiplayer modes. Why is multiplayer gone from remake is beyond me. Also there's no discount for owners of the PS4 remaster. I am not paying $70 for a game I already paid for 2 times and it lacks multiplayer. BIG disappointment.

    For 70 bucks I was expecting the gameplay mechanics of the last of us part 2 reworked for the last of us part 1. Like the ability to go prone and the 3 different stages of enemy AI. This is just an overpriced remaster. The graphics aren't that much better than the original. . Wait for a sale

It should be the gameplay and how it's played, and compared to TLoU P2, it is a complete downgrade. That game introduced the prone mechanic and the the dodge mechanic, both that are removed from the this game. The reason for a "remake" is to improve upon the original game, by upgrading the game with modern gameplay mechanics, like the Resident Evil 2 Remake. That game deserves a remake because the original game released more then 2 decades ago and do not compare to the games for today's standards.

    Not only that, but I'm 90% sure that the HUD and the icons are just a lazy port from TLoU P2. The icon for Abby's pistol is the exact same as Joel's pistol.

    That being said, you can experience the exact same game with more content on the PS4 release, which is conveniently available for the PS5 as well. If you're reading this, I highly recommend you buy that version instead.    … Expand

    Original TLOU it's one of the best games ever, played it several times on ps3 and ps4, i don't wanna play it again even for free, but 70$ for literally the same game, yes, better graphics, so what? Where is the multiplayer? This is not a remake, it's a reremaster. Where is the fundamental upgrades like in RE2 remake? None, cashgrab, gg sony and ND. Keep up the good work.

    If I'm just reviewing this game and I had never played the original The Last of Us, this would be fantastic. It would be game of the year. The story, the visuals, the atmosphere, the gameplay, it is all fantastic. This game would absolutely compete with Elden Ring for the GoTY title. But...     If I'm just reviewing this game and I had never played the original The Last of Us, this would be fantastic. It would be game of the year. The story, the visuals, the atmosphere, the gameplay, it is all fantastic. This game would absolutely compete with Elden Ring for the GoTY title. But...

    I just recently played the original The Last of Us and while the game is dated in some aspects, the truth of the matter is, it is still as good as anyone who remembers playing it for the first time. It is a masterpiece. Then I remembered, I have the Remastered version as well as a PS Plus subscriber an while I didn't really play it (maybe like an hour), it was still everything that I could want. And just to note, the remaster came out 13 months after the original release.

    So it stands to question, why does this remake exist? The truth is, I don't have a good answer. Then when you add in that in reality, this remake is a bloated, expensive ($70), visually updated version of a game that you probably already have, that was also cut in half, I have even less of an answer.

    The only thing I can say is this, if you haven't already played this game, go for it. I would wait for it to go on sale, but go for it. This is probably the best way to play the game and wait for part II as well. But as a person who has the original and remaster (PS Plus) already, I can't recommend it because I questioned why I even bothered renting it while i was playing it.    … Expand

    A blatant and shameless cash grab by Sony, nothing is improved other then the graphics. If your going to call yourself a remake then you'll be compared to other remakes and be held to the same standards as other remakes.

    No new levels/locations
    Same soundtrack
    No new bosses
    No new enemy's
    No new weapons

    NOTHING YOU GET NOTHING FOR YOUR $70

    I don't work in the gaming industry and I am not a game developer but I'm not stupid enough to think that the developers didn't put any work into because they clearly did work hard. Visually in terms of graphics it looks just as good as part 2 but there's really not much else to say in terms of what they have changed. If you love games about zombies and the post-apocalypse then this is just for you. If you don't like games that have a mature and dark tone that make you uncomfortable then this will not be for you. One last thing I will say is actually try the game out for yourself and don't listen to people telling you how to spend your money.     Vendu comme un remake ce jeu est un inutile remaster vendu au prix fort 80 euros.
    Il n'y a eu que des modifications graphiques et technologiques sinon c'est une copie identique du remaster PS4. Même gameplay même IA mêmes gunfights pourris à la Uncharted mêmes cinématiques mêmes zones de jeu mêmes dialogues.
    Si vous possédez le remaster PS4 ça n'apportera rien de plus.

    Swing and a miss… Same game, minus some features, severely overpriced, and not at all a signal that any effort was put in to improve anything other than some textures and resolution. Honestly, this was an opportunity to reboot and check boxes that may have been missed before. Sony insists on unchecking boxes though.

    Updated assets, did a good job with the light. There is nothing new in the gameplay (and the gameplay is already old). But asking for 70 USD for this is too much. Discount for those who have already bought it (because it is an update no more). Plus it should go for free in PS Plus.

It's now 2022 and games have moved on. the mechanic of this game, the combat, level design and general feel, is stuck firmly in the past. the remake isn't a remake at all. it had not been remade from the ground up like Naughty Dog claim.I thought I'd wait to review this until I fully finished the story. I'd say if you can pick this up for £20 then go for it. better still, just rent this game instead as its relatively short.
    I feel like Naughty dog should have redone all the animations, added some new sections to the levels, or even entirely new levels, anything new would have been appreciated. This is a pure cash grab in my opinion. The new TV show and the fact they barely had to do anything to "remake" the first game means that this experience really should be called "The Least of Us"

    Such a good game that improves on everything from the original. Felt like a new but familiar experience going through the upgraded areas.
    Obviously I’d be happy if they made a new game but I’ll take bringing one of my favourite games up to todays level of game design.

    The price isn't worth how little improvements were made over the original game. It took them half as much time to make this as it does for most companies to make a new game from the ground up. So I can't see why we should pay full price for a new coat of paint and some big fixes.

To take away from the game's rating due to it being full price is like saying that Blade Runner on 4k Blu Ray isn't as good as the VHS version because they're selling it at full price. The upgrade isn't amazing, but it isn't bad.     Legendary game, was necesary the remake? Maybe not, but after playing it im glad they did it, best way possible to enjoy the masterpiece at its best, is a better world afther its launch, wouldnt chose to live in one where they didnt made the remake.

In conclusion if you have never played this game and this is your first purchase of the franchise, you will be happy to pay the $70 retail price. If you played/owned the previous two Last of Us games you may be upset to pay the full price but I believe the price is worth it for the best version of the game.     Some time ago there was a good game called the last of us, then they sold us a remaster for ps4, then they ruined the series with part two and then they adjusted the story so that part 2 was not incongruous with part one and they want to sell us back to full price part one ruined, three times in a row the same game sony we are not your idiots

    The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. And, above all, there was really no need for this remake, the original is perfect as it is and available on PS Plus. Skip it and wait for a fat discount if you are keen to try it.
