    probably the weirdest remake in this decade . To be honest its not full remake to me , of course there are several upgrades but nothing changed in gameplay/story and whats bad is Factions was removed . The remake is good but not for 70$ most of the people bomb this game because of the price . Its good remake but not for 70$ . If price would be 50$ people wouldnt bomb it .

    Talvez poderiam ter adicionado Novas Mecânicas, ou algum modo novo p justificar o preço. Mas tecnicamente... Gráficos e História...     This is the third time I'm writing a review for this game, and I've played it 13 times combining the three versions.

    This is a remake, they rebuilt the game on the same engine as The Last of Us Part II, and they did a great job but not a perfect one. They have recreated the first game almost 1:1, and sometimes that's for the worse.     This is a remake, they rebuilt the game on the same engine as The Last of Us Part II, and they did a great job but not a perfect one. They have recreated the first game almost 1:1, and sometimes that's for the worse. Visually the game is stunning, looks better than Part II and this time it lets you choose between fidelity or performance mode.

    Now let's adress the elephant in the room, the gameplay. This is a remake releasing in 2022 that plays worse than the last game they released in 2020. I can understand certain mechanics from Part II not being used in Part I like prone, because they would need to redesign the most of the encounters in the game. But jumping and dodging should have been there, they made the gameplay more dynamic and responsive. They have used their new animation tech so the movement of the character itself does feel much much better. It plays great, but the lack of a couple of mechanics makes it feel like a step back in this aspect of the game.

    Was this remake necessary? Definetly not, but it exists for a reason. Naughty Dog didn't start the development of this game, it was de Visual Arts Group, a support team from PlayStation Studios that wanted to start developing games by themselves. They tried with the first Uncharted but they were unexperienced and it would require a lot of redesign to make it feel like a game released today. They ended up remaking TLOU, but when Hermen Hulst took over PS Studios he thought that the Visual Arts team were investing too many resources, and the development was shifted to Naughty Dog. The only reason why the remake wasn't cancelled and was handed to ND was because there's a TV show coming out soon that will create a new fanbase, and many of those will prefer to buy the new remake instead of the 2013/14 versions. There's also Sony's new PC approach, and now they can port this game too instead of only porting Part II directly like they are going to do with Uncharted 4.

    This game is still a masterpiece, a perfect game, but as a remake it lets you feeling like the devs could have taken a more intrusive approach and make a game on par with The Last of Us Part II.    … Expand

    Even if the premises are something that in the cinema world have been told many times, the way that Naughty Dog tells you the story and the environment that you live is something very deep and emotional.

    The best became even better! Graphics are better than Part II! 3d sound is amazing. Haptic feedback really adds to experience. Playing in 4K 40fps mode and it’s just so gorgeous! 3rd time Im finishing this story by now but it’s still most memorable and rich experiences in entertainment!

    Much improved game than original (graphisc, audio, A.I, gameplay). It is a REMAKE, pure an simple. Those who didn't watch Digital Foundry tech analysis, should do it. Can't wait for HBO series. To bad that Metacritic staff doesn't remove bad scores from Xbox fans. Vast majority of bad score are coming from Xbox fans. Idiots!

The environments are just as linear and hallway-like as they used to be, failing to take advantage of the upgraded hardware compared to PlayStation 3. There is nothing new to explore, nothing new to find, and almost nothing new at all. In fact, a large portion of the original game--the multiplayer--is completely missing.

    With the graphics improvements and the extremely welcome accessibility improvements, this is undeniably the best way to experience the story of The Last of Us. But it's difficult to see this game as anything more than much too little in comparison to The Last of Us Part II.    … Expand

    Well what to say... its is a great game, but terrible price in case you already played it.
    So if you never played the game, just go and get it. It is worth it.
    If you played it, then you know exactly what you are getting, so you dont need my review.
    For this reason Im giving higher score. It is scored as a "new game" for people who never played it. For other it is irelevant.

    2020 graphics, barely reaches 50 FPS, boring, overpriced and mechanically outdated. The Last of Us is out again, but this time Sony thought it was worth $70. Gameplaywise The Last of Us isn't worth 2 cents, and it never has been. This hasn't mysteriously just started. Naughty Dog makes games for the critics, not games for hardcore gamers.

    The original game was a 10/10 but since the gameplay in the PS5 version is exactly like the original and all you get are slightly improved graphics (not even mind-blowingly better, just moderately better) I don't see the price vs value as being worth it. This is a below-average game because the remake was pretty lazy.

It does look Visually great some people like the look of the original one more and for me after playing this one I liked the new visuals just as much as I liked the original. Yes the game doesn't have the online mode which I wish was here and I'm not going to take it into consideration because it's not apart of the focus of this remake and feels unfair to change review because of that and it was only made to remake the story and I'm just going to say yes the story can standalone on its self and that's the only thing I'm reviewing with the gamplay and with visuals. The game itself is still a 10 and im not saying it the best game in the world but it does improve on the things it says it does and its still the enjoyable story alot of people love to play and its just that little bit better.… Expand

    I’m half way through it and once again it is absolutely amazing!! Some people will call it a cash grab and some will call it a masterpiece. The $70 price tags is steep but it’s well worth it. It’s the definitive version on TLOU1.

    Lo compré por el gameplay que mostraron en el evento de Play, pero es que ya viendo el producto final, te das cuenta que te maquillaron bastante ese gameplay, las mecanicas son las mismas, gráficamente si es aceptable, pero es que en todo lo demas es exactamente lo mismo, lo peor es que por comprar el TLOU me desacomplete para el A plague tale requiem. Pero lo inaceptable son la cantidasLo compré por el gameplay que mostraron en el evento de Play, pero es que ya viendo el producto final, te das cuenta que te maquillaron bastante ese gameplay, las mecanicas son las mismas, gráficamente si es aceptable, pero es que en todo lo demas es exactamente lo mismo, lo peor es que por comprar el TLOU me desacomplete para el A plague tale requiem.     The Last of Us Part 1 is an absolutely phenomenal remake with love, care and meticulous attention to detail for the original experience oozing out of every crevice, everything from the characters to the environments have been completely rebuilt to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 and the result is an absolutely stunning game with    TL;DR: Amazing remake, hard to justify price.

    The Last of Us Part 1 is an absolutely phenomenal remake with love, care and meticulous attention to detail for the original experience oozing out of every crevice, everything from the characters to the environments have been completely rebuilt to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 and the result is an absolutely stunning game with jaw-dropping visuals, brutal yet satisfying audio, tense and emotional music and a wide array of gut-wrenching moments; Naughty Dog has honestly outdone themselves and brought the classic story of Joel and Ellie closer to life than ever before.

    This is a must-play for anyone who has yet to experience The Last of Us and should almost definitely be played back-to-back with The Last of Us Part 2, however… for the people who have already experienced the game there is one major elephant in the room I’d like to address, the price; $70 for a remake which doesn’t include the Factions Multiplayer and very minimal changes to gameplay is a very, VERY, tough pill to swallow. I’m not going to get into the whole discussion about the games industry raising prices while offering less as that’s a whole other can of worms but I will say this… I personally think the $70 was worth it but this is completely subjective and if you feel $70 is too steep then you have every right to think that.    … Expand

    The game aged decently, but I wouldn’t say it aged well. Truthfully even in this remastered version, it still feels like you’re playing a PS3 game. Some of the mechanics, animations, fluidity, and AI feel a bit clunky. Not unplayable or hugely immersion breaking, but definitely noticeable when you can’t leave a room when your NPC companion is standing in the doorway. This would have been a far better release if they added the fluid gameplay and AI from the second game. Regardless, it doesn’t take away from the game. So essentially the only difference here are the graphics, which really do look excellent. Visually the game doesn’t stand out on top of the pack of next gen games, but it’s definitely on par where it should be. The game is all about the voice acting, the characters, and the narrative, which all hold up extremely well and still surpass most games since it’s release. With all things considered, it’s as good as I remember it. I never thought it was the best game ever, but I remember thinking it was a fantastic experience, and my sentiment remains the same.

    New stuff:
    Joel can smash windows and glass objects and climb through, akin to Part 2.

    The camera has been reworked to be more dynamic during gameplay and combat.

    The duelsense feature has been integrated to even feel when raindrops hit your head, and is an impressive display of the ps5s tech prowess.

    The same dualsense plays a role in feeling the impact of combat. The redone graphics provide impressive facial features and some animation have actually been ported from part 2, notably during Ellie’s winter portion or whenever Joel smashes a window or door.

    Enemies will now do a 180 turn around during patrol (also from part 2).

    The weapons have all been redesigned to allow visible upgrades from the redesigned work bench. The game came with the standalone dlc “left behind” (an entertaining story in its own right). Also resigned with all the above. Some specific character models from part 2 have been inserted for eagle eyed players (supposedly Seth is in the game). The surgeon is also more overtly Abby’s father from part 2 flashbacks. Can’t forget about accessibility. Everything from part 2 pertaining to that is here as well, even included extras and renders with an improved photo mode. Not new: Most of the animations you’ll see are just the same ones from the original, just beefed up with good controls and camera work. Same with voice performances. The bad:

    I refuse to give this game a perfect score (as I don’t believe in them), but credit where it is due: the game is considered one of the best of all time for a reason and those reasons are all there, just prettier.     Solid remake of the visuals and Joel’s movement but they should have expanded some of the levels to justify the price. The game is extremely generous in resource drops which kills some of the tension.

    It looks great but you can’t really justify spending $70(more in other countries) on a game that feels so dated and out of place. This would be better as a rental as it doesn’t even have any of the multiplayer features.

There are also a lot of new gamplay mechanics, such as when you shoot someone in a leg, and you can eventually grab them while they are down, and there a lot of different small details added, such as a full info about Joels date of birth and etc. A lot of work went into it, not less than in a remastered. These remake took as much working hours to make, as some tripple AAA games which are released and are piece of... you know what. The price is based due to a PC release, where the game launches for the first time, and it will not be fair for a PC community to pay more for a newley released game, first time on a platform, if it would've costed 40 bucks on PS. No one makes you buy it, if you have previouse version, and I'm 100% sure that the game will be released in PS Plus Extra during the year, so there is not necessity to run and buy it on a first day for 70$ if you already own the copy and played these game a few times. I did pay full price, and I Don't regret it, cause in the end of the day it's a masterpiece, and it's a great pleasure to see it graphically and technically upgraded to enjoy it again. As I said before, the release price doesn't matter, it comes from the PC release, cause in the end of the day, why would you sell a masterpiece game that releases first time on the platform that was nearly completely remade, for cheaper, than people, who exclusevly got the platform to play it at that time for full price. For everyone else who played it, or has PS 4 Versions, no need to hurry guys, you already played it, and I'm sure you will get the game for free in PS Plus in couple of months.     The "remastered" character models are uglier, too.
    Gameplay is still the same as 10 years ago and it shows. None of the impovements from TLOU2, despite charging the same as a brand new game.

    Wait for the super duper PS6 version.

    9 years I've been waiting for a PC version. They just released a third version and still no PC version .It's version and release only for money, just before the series that brought new players. 3 to 6 months after the series, they will release the PC port to sell more. they will do the same thing for the 2 near season x

    I cannot begin to describe what I have experienced in the last of us. This proves that video games are a form of storytelling, a form of art even. Beautiful moments can turn into tragedies in the span of 20 seconds. Many may say that the gameplay is outdated, but I enjoyed every second of it.     As much as we love the skeleton, the way it’s been built upon here feels like a missed opportunity. The chance to incorporate Part II’s stellar gameplay evolutions into the original heart-wrenching story was there; had Naughty Dog taken it, it could have been a game-changer. Instead, this feels like an obligatory reshoot. Yes, it’s visually stunning (one of PS5’s best), and yes, things have been changed. But the end result? Too familiar. Neat extras are here, like a speedrun mode, behind the scenes videos, and commentary tracks – but we’d hoped for something bolder. [Issue#19, p.74]

    The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. And, above all, there was really no need for this remake, the original is perfect as it is and available on PS Plus. Skip it and wait for a fat discount if you are keen to try it.
