    I spent $125 taking a girl to lunch today. Yes the game is $70 but it's the best version and it's the best game ever. Worth it.

    I've never played the original game so experiencing this on my PS5 made me realize the hype for this franchise is real. Such an awesome experience and an even bigger fan of Naughty Dog now than ever.

    It is only getting a low rating because of the $70 price tag for the remake. But for hardcore fans, like myself it is totally worth it. The cutscenes are gorgeous and 60fps performance mode is a god send. Absolutely THE way to play the original game and runs seamlessly into the second game.

    The last of Us part I e semplicemente un capolavoro. Secondo me il pubblico è stato severo a giudicarlo. Il remake per me ci voleva sono contento di averlo portato a termine. È un gran bel gioco. Il migliore che abbia mai giocato su ps5. Dal mio punto di vista non so se è migliore di God of War e GOW Ragnarok e The Last of Us part II visto che non ho mai giocato a questi prodotti.     My first time playing through the game. I've been setting it asside to play the PS5 version. Amazing game and story. Very addicting and engaging plot. One of the best IPs from a story telling perspective. There are cheezy moments like when we find out about Bill and his partner. Was that really necessary ?     Wow Naughty Dog. You are selling the exact game all the way back from 2013 which was also remastered for the PS4 and is backwards compatible with the PS5 for $70, this is just a rip off. No amount of accessibility options or graphical improvements can justify this price tag.

    I'm not going to give it a low score because the second game was a shame but the only thing I'm going to say is that for the price of the game I expected a little more, just a little and I would have given this game a 10. Beautiful game.

    This is an awesome remake of the original last of us. They really went the extra mile with the graphics redesign to look phenomenal at 4K 60fps. Also the way they tied everything to be like part 2 was awesome. Gameplay was smooth the only cons I see are there’s no dodging melee attacks and no prone in the stealth. Other than that it’s a great game!

The game was met with critical-acclaim and is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time. Now the developer has rebuilt the game from the ground up, with new character models, enhanced graphics, and gameplay enhancements – many of which we saw in Part II.

    Bewarned, this review may have spoilers for The Last Of Us Part I, Left Behind, and The Last Of Us Part II.

    STORY

    It’s 2033, and the world is seemingly at its end thanks to the Cordyceps fungal infection – an infection that infiltrates the brain and turns humans into cannibalistic creatures. We once again join Joel, a smuggler who has the dangerous task of escorting 14-year old Ellie across a ravaged and dishevelled United States. On their journey they encounter many hardships, hunters and of course – the infected.

    Endure and survive.

    GAMEPLAY

    While the gameplay stays loyal to the original, it has borrowed some elements from 2020’s The Last Of Us Part II – a welcome addition. The combat and gun-handling feels a lot more fluid than the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game, which accompanies the DualSense’s haptic feedback flawlessly.

    The updated AI is unparalleled. The enemies are a lot more aggressive than in the original release. They don’t just bob up and down behind cover any more, and you are a lot more susceptible to flanking (I died, alot!). In single-player games, it’s common for friendly AI to just get in the way all the time, but Ellie and other allies in your journey are always assisting with kills and yelling observations during an encounter.

    One of the major new features in the game is the accessibility settings found within the game. Naughty Dog became pioneers of inclusion in the video game industry when they released The Last Of Us Part II, which had the largest accessibility options I’ve ever seen in a video game. While I don’t use these features, I know a lot of people do, and for them to be present in Part I is fantastic.

    The Last Of Us Part I was built on the same engine as Part II, which makes the whole journey a lot more cohesive. A game set in a post-apocalyptic world is typically depicted with a very lackluster palette, but Part 1, just like the original, has such a beautiful palette even when half the game takes place in dreary subways and sewers. The environments crafted by Naughty Dog are so well thought out; every room has a story to tell, it’s not just a messy room, it’s a story of the survivors who came before Joel and Ellie.

    VISUALS AND PERFORMANCE

    There are two graphics options presented to you when you start playing: Fidelity and Performance. Fidelity favours resolution over frame rate and targets a minimum of 30 fps, whereas performance has a balanced resolution and framerate but targets 60 fps. As a personal preference, I chose to play the game on performance mode and I was very happy with how the game ran on it. I snuck a peak at Fidelity from time to time and while it is gorgeous, I did prefer the extra frames that the performance mode gives you.

    CONTERVERSY

    Now to address the most controversial part of this game – the price tag. I would have liked a little more incentive placed into the game to purchase this $129 remake, but I definitely do not regret experiencing this enhanced journey of one of my favourite video games of all time. Just by playing this game you can understand that the Devs at Naughty Dog truly put their heart into this game and just want players to experience the original game in the best form possible. That said, if you have played the PS4 version recently, I would probably hold off on playing this for a while but if you’re like me who hasn’t played the game since The Last Of Us Part II came out, I would definitely recommend playing it now.

    THE VERDICT

    Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part I is a legendary remake of a legendary game. Any new or returning players will find this game to be an emotional and action-packed journey which will continue to stand the test of time.

    First things first, I'd give the game an 8,5/10 with a small points deduction for the price, but overall it's still a fanastic game and it looks better than ever in my opinion.
    That being said, I think everyone should tak a few things into consideration before you buy this game.
    If you: - Can spare the money - If you have a PS5 (obviously) - If you don't have the remastered version    First things first, I'd give the game an 8,5/10 with a small points deduction for the price, but overall it's still a fanastic game and it looks better than ever in my opinion.

    If you however already have the PS4 version and you're really only looking for an excuse to play it again I'd either go with the remastered version or wait for a sale.     the combat is now as visceral and brutal as the last of part 2 but with that classic ps3 feel still infused into the game’s core.

    The story is still the masterpiece you know but presentation can do a lot to enhance it, like I said before the character animations are so much more powerful and subtle, this elevates every cutscene and makes the story and characters feel so much more real.

    This is essentially like switching from a DVD copy to the 4K collectors edition. There isn’t anything wrong with the DVD copy but the 4K collectors edition is a special experience that every diehard fan will need to have.    … Expand

    Great game and series. TLOU part 1 on PS5 is the best way the play this game. I've played the PS3, PS4 and now the PS5. I do believe they took some assets from PS4 and just polished them. However with that said, TLOU part 1 is one of the best looking games ever.

Had this game been sold at $40 instead of $70, I would have probably given this game a higher score than a meager 7, but that, unfortunately, is not the case. With that being said, while this game continues to blend the fine line between fiction and reality, I don't want to see another "The Last Of Us Part I" until 2050.… Expand

    Ce que j’ai détesté c’est le gameplay pour les raisons suivantes ;
    1) Joël donne l’impression d’être lesté et épuiser à chaque mouvement, sa vitesse de course est ultra-
    lente sauf dans quelque rare moment où il peut sprinter.
    2) Le système de visée est atrocement lent, j’ai dû désactiver l’aide à la visée et la dualsense pour que
    ça soit moins pénible et plus fluide.
    3) Le changement d’arme anarchique.
    4) Esquive, roulade et saut inexistant.
    5) La configuration des touches désastreuse.
    6) Les tirs d’ennemi qui vous figent sur place pour au final mourir sur place.
    7) Les armes ne sont pas fun à jouer, la sensation est très mauvaise surtout avec l’arc.
    8) Les bugs d’interaction avec la touche triangle.
    9) Certains bugs toujours présents malgré 3 rééditions du jeu.
    10) Les phases de déplacement d’échelles.

    Conclusion, j’attribue un 5/10 à ce jeu car pour moi le gameplay compte beaucoup et là c’est raté même si le reste est bon.    … Expand

    Acabo de terminar de jugarlo. he de decir que no lo recordaba tan corto, es bastante más corto que el TLOU parte 2. En cualquier caso es increíble el juego, super inmersivo ha ido de lujo en la PS5, estable y perfecto. Juegazo. Sobre el precio no me voy a posicionar, los videojuegos son un lujo no una necesidad. Recomendadísimo

    One of the best games in history! I understand the argument of this not needing a remake but it’s still amazing and leaps above the original. If you don’t think it’s worth a full $70 then just wait for a sale but I highly recommend this version for new and veteran fans of The Last of Us.

    The negative reviews are mostly about the price, which I agree shouldn't be 70usd. But when talking about the game, it's the same as the original but better. Most of the animations now look super realistic as well as the environments, and the faces.
    If you are looking to replay this masterpiece this is the version that you should be playing.

    Gameplay wise, you are looking at a competent stealth action game, but that did nothing new to advance the genre.

    Let's be clear, as far as stealth options are concerned, you get to chose between throwing a brick, or a bottle, that's it. There are no exciting environmental opportunities to leverage, no interesting situational obstacles to deal with, and boredom sets in as, you deal with    Gameplay wise, you are looking at a competent stealth action game, but that did nothing new to advance the genre.

    Let's be clear, as far as stealth options are concerned, you get to chose between throwing a brick, or a bottle, that's it. There are no exciting environmental opportunities to leverage, no interesting situational obstacles to deal with, and boredom sets in as, you deal with fairly identical situations, over, and over. Think of Uncharted, with extra boring interruptions, walking sections, and with the fun action bits removed. They also got rid of the puzzles too since you now get to play with bricks and ladders.

    The crafting and looting is competently handled, but there is really nothing in terms of gadgets or skill tree worth praising above and beyond the competition.

    And that's my problem, in the light of all of these observations, it is difficult for me to accept the praise the game has garnered. Maybe an exceptional scenario and plot could have justified the praises, but considering how cliche and predictable the story is, it is that much more difficult to reconcile myself with its critical success.

    Yes, the acting, music, presentation and production value was a cut above the competition, but as far as 2013 release games, I can think of so many games that easily outclass The last of us in terms of game and level design, pacing, mechanics, and player agency. Games such as Tomb raider, Blacklist, GTAV, not only did more, but they did it better - and if we wanted to draw a comparison with a game that more closely resembles the last of us, Spec ops: The line was the more successful of the two in realizing its story-telling ambitions.

    The last of us remains a moderately enjoyable game, it does have a few saving graces in terms of scenario and game-play (like the hunting sandbox at the beginning of the winter chapter), but it is far too repetitive and limited in scope to be considered anything above the best the competition has to offer. It is also worth noting that 2 of Resident evil 4's most memorable, fun, and iconic game-play moments were "borrowed" by Naughty dog, though not as well executed as in Capcom's masterwork.

    I think Naughty Dog is still my favourite developer and they made huge upgrades in terms of graphics, faces, details, environments and the enemy AI is also better now. However the game is the exact same. They didn't change the set pieces, Joel and Ellie has no new abilities and they didn't make the fighting areas bigger or more complex either. Overall this game isn't worth full price at all.

    Gran juego, es lo que debe ser, mejorar aspectos técnicos, jugarlo una vez mas emociona a muchos niveles y te hace comprender más la historia de la Parte II. Lo único negativo que tiene es el precio de salida, pero esto no debería ser influyente cuando la obra puede modificar su precio en el tiempo.

It’s unfair and misleading for people who wants a challenge and gameplay mechanics that doesn’t feel as an excuse to stick together different cutscenes.     I never played the older version of this game so this was the firs time I have ever played a game from this series, and it was incredible. Its the mix between movie and video game I had always dreamed about. The plot has some of the most realistic characters I have seen in anay medium, and the gameplay is immaculate. The graphics also just look better than real life.     The Last Of Us is one of the greatest videogames of all time. This is the most useless remake of all time. It's literally available in the PS store why would you do this? Also, charging $70? In my country it literally costs half a minimum wage because of Sony's lack of price converting. This is just ridiculous.

    Never played the original (PS3) or remaster (PS4), so glad i didnt, experiencing it first time with PS5 engine was a whole different experience fully utilising the PS5.

    Would've given it a 10/10 but that £70 price tage is not worth the 15 hour run i did. Thats me taking my time, looking for safes/collectible/looting etc.

    TLOU series are among my favorite of all time. This game updates the graphics of the 2013 masterpiece...to PS4 graphics. I have to say I was disappointed at times that this is the exact same game but better looking. Built from the ground up for PS5 is just a lie, cause this game has just the same graphics of TLOU2 but with worse AI. I am completely sure this game is capable of running on a PS4.

    The game structure is intact, for those who completed the game several times, we can tell everything is exactly the same. I was waiting for a new DLC story based like left behind, the story about Marlene crossing the US after getting shot, her journey to St Marys hospital, or maybe a history about Joel & Tommy surviving during the 20-year period after that night at the game's intro. But no, nothing. Not a single thing is changed. That's why this game sparked the discussion about what is a remake and what is a remaster. I'm thinking about bluepoint games and demon souls, they kept the original essence while creating a whole new game, a complete overhaul of the game structure, that's the remake for me.

    I'm still giving it an 8 because I really enjoyed how the Ps5 underlines the tech to boost the storytelling and gameplay experience. There are slight changes, the way Joel expresses his pain in his facial features is amazing and is something new. The haptic feedback & the triggers were nice additions too for "feeling" the world and objects you interact with. It's hard to come to terms with the 70 USD package. I feel they took advantage of my love of this game and really profited from that. I bought the original, and then the remastered, and now a 70USD remake with no upgrade path for previous owners and no additional content.     The FAQ says: "This is a new game!"
    Please tell your marketingdepartment, that players are not stupid. This is the same game, as the two "The last of us" (PS3 &PS4) i have bought before. It is a graphical upgrade. You guys got too greedy. I don't expect a free upgrade (although there are alot of examples for this practice). But 80€ for a game i bought altready    Sony - for the investors!

    As much as we love the skeleton, the way it’s been built upon here feels like a missed opportunity. The chance to incorporate Part II’s stellar gameplay evolutions into the original heart-wrenching story was there; had Naughty Dog taken it, it could have been a game-changer. Instead, this feels like an obligatory reshoot. Yes, it’s visually stunning (one of PS5’s best), and yes, things have been changed. But the end result? Too familiar. Neat extras are here, like a speedrun mode, behind the scenes videos, and commentary tracks – but we’d hoped for something bolder. [Issue#19, p.74]

    The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. And, above all, there was really no need for this remake, the original is perfect as it is and available on PS Plus. Skip it and wait for a fat discount if you are keen to try it.
