    Stunning visuals, great atmosphere, and superb sound design raise this game from kind of average to really good for me. The combat can be jank at times and took me around an hour to get used to but once it clicked I had a good enough time with it. I believe what can bog the game down is the linearity (you climb through vents A LOT) and some enemy encounters are downright frustrating. The story is nothing to write home about; it's not great but not offensively bad either, just kind of mediocre. Despite that, it keeps the game moving at a good pace. Voice acting is also above average with Sam Witwer being a standout for me. I think critic reviews of this one were a bit harsh on this one. It's a great foundation to build on for future sequels and other projects from Striking Distance. I will say the game is around 8-13 hours, with low replayability at the moment, and if length is something that concerns you I suggest waiting for a sale; $30-$50 would be a solid price point to pick it up at.… Expand

    Comprei em Pré Venda, não dei Ouvidos ao Mímimi que estava tendo por conta de um mal entendido com a DLC, A Primeira Vista Você fica impressionado c o quão lindo Tecnicamente esse jogo é. E como as Mecânicas dele, Embora Simples Funcionam tão Bem. Tudo muito bem feito até os Mínimos Cuidados, e o Áudio é um Show a Parte, Mantém a Tensão a Todo Instante.

    A very hard, frustrating experience on your first playthrough. On my second playthrough it was much easier knowing how to tackle each situation and what to upgrade. I'm not forgiving the games issues mind but a solid experience on my second play through. 5/10 for my first time through, 7/10 for my second. Pick up at a discount if you love scifi action/horror games.

Some may say it’s a Dead Space clone (I don’t think they argument is valid since it’s one of the original creators) and some may say it’s not enough like Dead Space. For what it was I did like it, but it does have its faults. For the most part the game does run smooth aside from some spots that are few and far between. The atmosphere,sound design and overall production value is there. It screams AAA. The game was also a looker. Looked incredible. I did like the combat. The moment to moment gameplay was very visceral and kept you on edge the entire time. The voice acting was also too notch and the performance capture was spot on. The game is lacking in the enemy variety though and it can feel like you are progressing through corridor to corridor. The story was nothing special. It’s your typical cliche zombie outbreak game and the final boss shows everything that was wrong with the game, but for what it’s worth it gets the job done. The game has all that you want from a Dead Space like game, but there is something there to keep it from reaching greatness. The game’s length is roughly 8HRS long, which is the sweet spot for what this game was. Overall a good time for Dead Space fans.… Expand

    Really enjoyed this game I always watch reviews and let that influence me to an extent but this time everyone I agree with normally I didn’t. This is a good example of you really do have to think for yourself because at the end of the day these YouTubers are complete morons most of the time and we all know games journalist are a complete joke.

    I was hyped about this game but it did not live up to my expectations. It is definitely not worth full price I would say maybe for 30$ max. The gameplay is the biggest let down. Not recommended.

    The reason I gave this game a 5 and not a zero is because it has one of the best audio visual presentations I have ever seen. The gore and death scenes are second to none, and the environments are gorgeous. I personally would say it's worth about $30 if you're looking for a quick roller-coaster ride, but it is not even comparable to Dead Space or any other good horror games, so don't expect that.    … Expand

    Glen delivered big time. Top notch cinematic sci fi horror experience with incredible visuals and audio. Spectacular, atmospheric and gripping like Alien, Event Horizon, Pandorum and Pitch Black and just like them will be appreciated after some time... Thank you Glen and Striking Distance, a ride and hope for a sequels.

    Incredibly bland. Like the setting and overall intention of making a Dead Space spiritual successor...but this was really disappointing and kinda dull at times. Gore was fun. Idk. I reaaallly wish i didn't pre-order this.

    I absolutely love it the graphics are top notch,the gore reminds me of god of war back when the devs weren’t afraid of gore the combat is absolutely a blast we all thought we were getting a pure dead space copy but instead got something more

The musical score and sound effects will keep you on a high awareness level. There’s quite a bit of game left to cover, but, so far, if you love sci-fi, thrillers, 3rd person action games and we’re a fan of dead space, give theJust got through the first hour. If you were to completely forget about Deadspace and judge this game on its own merits you’d enjoy it.     The story is what you expect from a game like this. Figure out what is going on and escape the ship. I am not really upset about the story being very bland and uninteresting because this is a survival horror game its supposed to have great atmosphere, good combat, and scares.

    The Graphics are some of the very best I have ever seen. Character models look realistic, and environments are photo realistic as well. The game looks very good.

    The Atmosphere is great, it makes you feel like you are there, Good biometric fog effects and the sound design is awesome.

    I played the game on the PS5, I did notice some loss of frame rates, and some technical glitches that required me to restart my game. Nothing game breaking but they were there. They will probably be patched out within a month.

    Now lets talk about the downfall of this game, the combat.

    The Combat is too simple that it's boring. Melee fights feel like a turn based RPG. You dodge the enemies attacks and then you attack. You can't attack when they are attacking because you will take 100 times more damage then they will take. So basically you just take turns attacking. Melee fights with multiple enemies is even worse. You can only dodge one enemy at a time and you can't see all the enemies coming at you because you're auto focused onto one enemy so you pretty much just take cheap hits when there is nothing you can do about it.

    A huge factor for the repetitiveness of the game is because the lack of enemy variety there is almost no attack patterns to remember since all the enemies are the same. there is no dread in turning the corner and seeing a new enemy and just not knowing how to fight it. There is also a huge lack of weapon variety. And what makes it worse is that most of the guns are useless so that results to you using melee attacks. The guns are also boring, Dead space you got cool mining equipment like the plasma cutter in this game you get a pea shooting pistol.

    Also many of the environments feel the same. Dead space had interesting environments, in this game everything looks the same except for a few places like the habitat, and the outdoor sections (chapter 4 & 5). What also adds on to the repetitiveness is the missions. All of them are just go find a fuse and use it to open the door". Almost every chapter in the game has a go find a key card or fuse part in the chapter.

    Do not expect much scares in this game either. There is not a lot of suspense and tension most of the scares come from cheap jump scares that you can tell are coming from a kilometer away. I was not scared once playing through this game.

    The game isn't terrible it's just boring and repetitive. I was bored when I was halfway through the game. I shouldn't be bored in a short game that takes 7 hours to beat. I was expecting it to be like Dead space, I thought it would bring something new and exciting to the survival horror series but I guess my expectations were too high. I blame all their marketing for the backlash on this game. The marketing got everyone's expectations too high and they feel let down that the game is average at best. The developers should've spent more money on game play systems and less money on marketing. The game is worth a play when it drops to around $30.    … Expand

    I love this game. The only reason I lowered my score from a 10 to an 8 is because it’s not as scary as I thought it would be. But I highly recommend everyone try this game it is so immersive and the sound design is unmatched.

    Horrible frame rate loss during cut-scenes. 5 CTDs in first hour of gameplay on PS5 The CTDs seem to also wipe out recent saves as I am getting put back about 10 minute after reloading the game. I had to stop and shelve it until this mess gets fixed. I'll give two points for the atmosphere and music so far, but otherwise unplayable.

    Glitches!!! Terrible performance! Only 6 hours of gameplay... Lots of cliche. Didn't know it's possible to wreck more than a cyberpunk on start. Didn't expect such trash from dead space creators. Refunded

    The game is spectacular! On the PS5 it runs so well. I had a smile from ear to ear for most of the game. The music terrific as well. Get it! I want more please!

And as an experience, the acting, along with the breathtaking graphics and sound design makes this one of the most immersive ways to transport yourself into a terrifying setting stranded in outer space. As many have said the combat mechanics are pretty bad, the tunnels and levels got repetitive, but I most hated the slow main character movement and the gun changing mechanism. I never played Dead Space before, but what I hear is this game copies many of the themes ofI gave this game a 5 because the devs put alot of work into the graphics, but I wanted the ganme to end after a few hours. Um pouco difícil de se adaptar no início mas depois ela se torna uma das suas principais armas. A história tem uma narrativa simples mas muito bem desenvolvida. As armas são boas, mas tem umas duas que não useiEsse jogo foi uma das melhores experiências que tive nesse ano. Um terror que te deixa muito tenso de seguir em frente. Gráficos lindíssimos.     Worst trash I've played for a long time. **** performance (even after patch) on a RTX 4090. Gameplay is a joke with the worst combat system to date. You're forced to melee and even the most basic enemies takes 5+ hits to kill while you die in 4 hits. Good luck when you face 4 enemies at the same time. The game is not hard, just pure broken and unfair. Do yourself a favor and stay away...

    Thoroughly disappointed with this game, clearly wasn’t ready for release. So many bugs, and the combat is broken and clunky. Something as simple as trying to switch guns during fights is such a challenge/barely works. All deaths just feel cheap and unfair because of how bad the combat is and how the slow the movement/camera is.

And OMG this is amazing. I have no idea, what's wrong with you guys, I mean, I remember Dead Space in 2008... it was cool, but this is great in 2022. The atmosphere, graphics and sound is amazing. It follows a typical horror survival story with minimalistic gameplay. Dead Space was a masterpiece, while Callisto Protocol is just a good game. The atmosphere, graphics and sound is amazing. It follows a typical horror survival story with minimalistic gameplay. The melee combat does indeed feel repetitive after a few hours but I appreciated they tried something new instead of copying the Dead Space formula.     I was really excited for this game but it was a massive disappointment in my opinion. The best part of this game is its graphics and even then it's a really ugly game. They knew they made a bad game which is why the review embargo didnt lift until they day after release Skip this and wait for the Dead Space remake.

    The first hours are very disappointing (too hard, melee focused, frustrating and linear) but progressively you learn the combat flow and upgrade your gear and weapons and everything makes click. At some point you start enjoying it and then it becomes the game you were waiting for. It's not Dead Space and for sure is worse than that, but it's the best horror game of this year.

    Game is amazing, atmosphere, combat, animations, graphics everything is so gorgeous. The only thing that lacks are some enemy variety and I’m pretty sure they’ll add em in the sequel. Reviews sites hated the game with 0 reasons, probably nobody payed em like most publishers do.

    I liked the game. It could have done more in the puzzles (opening the doors of a maximum security prison by cutting a flat cable is too much) and in the armor. Missing New Game+. Overall, it's an excellent game..

Played it on hardest difficutly and i stick to melee weapon and skunk shotgun, position yourself to see every enemy on screen fight melee and pump shotgun in the whole group, easy as that.     i wanted to love this game so much and well i don't love it but i don't hate it. i understand why people hate the controls but i still think everything else about the game is pretty good. I wish it was more of a horror game and had a better ending but its not the worst game in the world.

    Loving the game! Finally we get another taste of Glen Schofield's Imagination. It's been too long since we have gotten a sci Fi horror survival game. I hope we get a Calisto Protocol 2 in the future and this game becomes a franchise

    Great game, great atmosphere, great combat, playing time is great being longer than Dead Space 1 and 2, I finished it in about 13 hours, which is great for Survivor Horror games and people who are complaining about the game time they should play an RPG or an open world if you want so many hours of repetitive content.

Gameplay is clunky and stiff and repetitive. And the HDR is a broken washed out mess which is not the best for a “horror”game if you want to make it scary when blacks are grey even on an Oled.     This game makes you feel a certain kind of way and it's incredible at it.
    Don't sleep on this one just because journalists ran a coordinated smear campaign. They did so they could shill for the big 3 and further degenerate gaming into nothing but factory filth. Guess they have to make sure real games don't get made anymore.

    The biggest complaint I keep hearing is that you lock on to the enemy that's attacking you, so it doesn't work for multiple enemies or... something. I gotta tell you that this game gives you all the tools you need. If a second character gets too close, you will still dodge it because it instantly locks to the enemy attacking. What you need to do is use the telekinesis glove to throw extra enemies out of the way if you get overwhelmed. SIMPLE AS THAT. Just pay attention to the environment and use everything you can to dominate enemies, that's what hazards and explosion tanks are there for. Just use them. Figuring out how to not get overwhelmed and managing enemies is THE WHOLE POINT, while being as ruthless and efficient as possible. This game is basically perfect at everything it attempts. I can't believe all this bad press it's getting from people who PLAY VIDEO GAMES FOR A LIVING, so you would think they wouldn't suck.

    Another thing is "it's just linear OMG I can't endlessly explore idiot areas aimlessly wahhh" Go play Ubisoft you morons. Get some micro trans checklists you're such a glutton for. Because that's exactly what you'll get when you only give excellent scores to cookie cutter games. You get what you deserve you fools. This game is a series of expertly crafted and paced GAUNTLETS, it always is throwing a new challenge at you each and every time and highlights the actual depth and game design prowess on clear display.

    Oh and too many vents... Well would you prefer broke asses with old systems and hardware couldn't play it? You need that to hide loading screens, besides this is how the previous games were and part of the DNA. They paced it out extremely well and I'd argue you wouldn't get near the same "Dead Space feeling" without them. It's all about vibe. What's funny is that this is a cross platform game and STILL has the best graphics I've ever seen in a game. Try and tell me it doesn't look like a literal movie from start to finish!

The main mission in the game is quite boring and the missions are the same. Example "wait for me I'll be there" or "I am here". I'm constantly going to the checkpoint and the new checkpoint opens and I do the things I've done over and over again. It doesn't make sense anyway because the story of the game is not great. And I faced the enemy 4 times during the BOSS fight! There is nothing interesting in this game except graphics and scenery! Also, what's the end lol?     Great sci-fi horror experience! I really enjoyed it and recommend it for anyone who enjoys this genre of game. Reminded me a bit of Resident Evil 2 Remake, but without all the backtracking and with a final boss you can actually fight and beat (with a bit more space to maneuver too). Remember to use a mix of all weapons and also heal whenever in the yellow and there is a moment to breath.

Anyway, the dodge and GRP mechanics make it interesting. No running around mashing buttons to roll around to dodge (which is horribly old, honestly). Well worth the purchase on PS5.… Expand

Gameplay resemble QTE where there isn't a window to dodge; simply alternate left and right on the analog stick prior to the enemy's attack and counter in a series of attacks in a timely manner and repeat the process--the melee gameplay is extremely satisfying regardless of the outcome of the fight. The dodge mechanics may appear difficult in the beginning, however, with practice, it is not, even on the hardest settings. The game run excellent at near constant framerate of 60 fps on performance and 30 fps with raytracing.     Callisto Protocol is a breath of fresh air in a world full of games that hold your hand. It a lot of fun and can be difficult at times. But the death animations make it a joy to start back over from a check point. I play a lot of survival horror games and for any fan of that genre, I think you will enjoy this game.     I was hyped, i really was. A game from Dead Space creator on paper sounds great.
    Sadly the final product is very rushed with some questiobable gameplay mechanics.

    Callisto Protocol makes some mistakes, but in general computing the good wins by far. It is true that it is somewhat angry to see that something with so much potential has not been fully squeezed, but what it offers is already much more than most. We trust that combat system that we have loved and its setting to make the game worthwhile and we would love to see a second installment.

    A visually beautiful sci-fi experience which, surprisingly, doesn’t resort to simply cloning Dead Space. The difficulty and the fear factor both don’t reach the heights I’d expect, however. A shame! It could have been extraordinary.
