    What exactly happend with this game ? Nobody was probably more excited about that than me with preorder day 1! As big Dead Space fan I thought that can't go wrong. A lot of tbhings are done wrong in this game. Fight is little too clanky. Hope they will learn and make next project better.

    Callisto protocol por lo menos en Ps5 va perfecto, creo que en Xbox tuvo problemas de rendimiento y ray tracing, pero igual creo es disfrutable, a mi me gusto mucho al grado de platinarlo, mas juegos de estos por favor

    graphismes au top, ambiance sonore travaillée et irréprochable.
    le gameplay est déroutant au départ mais on s'y fait au bout d'une heure, même si c'est vrai que c'est un peu limité.
    C'est un jeu d'ambiance horrifique avec ses défauts mais pour un 1er jeu c'est franchement très réussi, j'espère une suite !

    Brilliant atmosphere, combat was fun and very tense. Graphics are some of the best I've ever seen, main downside for me was the enemy variety, and a few 'janky' moments here and there with enemies. Hoping for a sequel as it has laid good ground with the story.

While the sluggish controls add to the feeling of struggle I found them more frustrating than engaging. I found myself holding sprint the entire time.     I enjoyed this game a lot. It's not Dead Space, but it gave me what I wanted. A condensed, tensed linear experience. Graphics are awesome, even in performance mode. Close combat is interesting and satisfying to use. Enemies are gross. In truth the game is more disgusting than terrifying but it still works for me.

    I dislike a few things gameplaywise: healing is slow, so you can't do it during combat. This is a bit problematic because enemies strike hard and bosses can crush you in one single hit. Changing weapon is also slow and confusing, which makes it hard during encounters. But all of this has been patched since I beat the game, so keep that in mind.

    In conclusion, this is clearly Dead Space's cousin, and I think people expected a little brother. i love it for what it is. But it needed a bit more time and testing in my opinion. Were the devs pressured to release the game before the Dead Space remake? One can only assume. i sincerely hope it does not mean the end for the Callisto Protocol because the potential is there.    … Expand

Actors were good they just didn't have the best material. For a new ip I was pretty excited but it never gave us something new or improved upon that Dead Space didn't already do.     It looks good That's about it though. Stories of jarring mess in every way. Combat is a glitchy mess. And the greatest sin of all is it's not a horror game in the slightest even though it was advertised as the heir apparent to dead space.

Even if you are trying to run away from an enemy, if they attack you, you get locked into the melee animation and usually get hit. It’sYeah, I hate this game. It’s completely linear which isn’t a totally bad thing, but besides some hazards they never do anything interesting with it. It doesn’t help that half the time you squeeze through corridors, crawling through vents, or climbing ladders. I will say though that the graphics and presentation are really great. The attention to is absolutely insane. I also love the atmosphere and vibe of the game. It does indeed remind me of Dead Space. The death animations are also really gory to the point where Japan had to ban the game from their country. That’s how you know it’s crazy violent. Now honestly this game would’ve been a 5/10, but what pisses me off the most is that the devs have the gall to leave the game on a cliffhanger for future DLC. You barely deserve the $70 and now you want extra $$$ to finish the story. Oh hell no. It’s not even that good of a story. It’s insanely predictable.… Expand

    No lo compré de salida por las malas críticas, pero menos mal que con una rebaja lo he comprado. Si bien no es perfecto, en gráficos, ambientación y sonido es lo mejor en consolas. That's where the game shines as you gradually get to know the backstory of Callisto and how a terraforming enterprise came to a halt and a prison was build instead. Game sports beautiful visuals and spot-on audio. Atmosphere is pretty tenseI came to this game a month after release and with low expectations. Game sports beautiful visuals and spot-on audio. Atmosphere is pretty tense so I found this game difficult to put down. You constantly want to know what awaits you in the next corridor or location.

    I consider story ok although I understand why some people might be disappointed in that regard. It's a simple story but a one that makes sense. You don't get to save the world. Your task is to survive, help your (not too numerous) buddies and get the hell out of Callisto. That's more less what everyone would do in similar circumstances.

    Gameplay is subpar while combat is just comically bad. Jacob is slow and to add insult to the injury most of the time game doesn't allow you to run. The movement is clunky even in performance mode. Camera is bad. Fighting numerous enemies is impossible. Dodging doesn't work. You can't move while in combat, can't turn back and run away to bide your time and approach the encounter in different way. Instead Jacob just stands there and swings with the baton occasionally shooting mutants. If your run out of ammo it takes forever to reload and it's close to impossible to switch weapon in the heat of the action. GRP is ok but battery longevity is way too short. Overall combat sounds and looks straight bizzare. I recommend playing the game on easy difficulty to spare yourself frustration. I played it on easy and I kind of enjoyed the ride hence relatively high grade.    … Expand

    Best Game ever!
    The story is beautiful and amazing, the Characters are well written, the graphics are the best i‘ve ever seen, the soundtrack is beautiful and i will listen to it for a long time.

    Most negatice reviews from losers haven‘t even played the game, but i did and it‘s a masterpiece.

    Callisto protocol is a very good game, I feel that it immerses me in a scary atmosphere. This game knows how to generate a feeling of despair to face the horrors of that prison. The combat system is brutal and aggressive, just the way I like it.

    For a game that’s supposed to be next gen, I can’t believe the awful number of closed doors we have to open, the vents we have to crawl through and the tight spaces they make us slowly wedge through. Poor design.

    I genuinely don’t understand the hate this title is given. The graphics are beautiful and immersive. The game play is fun, visceral, and exactly what I expected. If you’re a fan of this genre, I highly recommend to check this game out. I’ve had a lot of fun with it.

    This is a complete scam. The game is technically the worse Ive played in years (janky cam, hits do not connect, glitched loot abs so on), the interaction between the two main persons doesent make sense in a lot of ways and for 70 Euro you dont even get the trie ending becaus you have to buy a dlc for that.

    I got into the game with no explanation, and i was left amazed with this IP. The gameplay was solid, the story was very interesting, the characters where well written. At first I hate Dani for being so annoying, but later understood why. The graphics! OMG. There's not a game currently out that can compare with the level of graphics this game has. Maybe Horizon forbidden west?

Callisto Protocol is not a masterpiece but I had a great time playing it and found myself wanting to return back to the game to see what came next in the story and the action when I wasn’t playing it.     Some of the best use of lighting, shadows, fog, atmosphere and immersion I have ever experienced in a video game. Textures and details are top notch. Sound: 10/10 In my opinion, the sound design of this game deserves a huge nod. It is flawless actually. The music and different beats in anticipation to new areas and enemies is outstanding and it makes the gameplay feel dangerous and exciting. This game is definitely better than what the current 6.8 user score indicate in my opinion. the combat does take a little time to get used to but it is kind of enjoyable once you get the hang of dodging. It's no dead space, but it is a nice first entry, hopefully we will get a sequel.… Expand

    When I need to restart a level over, in x-times the settings are changed - enemies come from different spots and collectable changes. this is really nice and needs different tactics.     Its a worthy Dead Space 4! in a different way, game-play and setting.
    Its as good as Dead Space 1,2, Alien Isolation, Evil Within and Mortal Kombat in close-up-fights - in a new / its own way.
    Best horror game of 2022.

    The game impressed with great graphics and sound effects, the enemy design is monotonous and the environment looks almost always the same in the entire game. This is not too bad for a playtime of only about 10 hours but 70 euros is the game of the quality and length definitely not worth it, but in the sale it can be recommended.

    Amazing motion capture and voice acting. Graphics are out of this world. Intense and satisfying combat though clunky at first. Decent story, not too short or bloated of a runtime and sets up a sequel nicely. Only experienced one bug which made audio very distorted for 2 seconds and never again. Would definitely recommend buying it at any price!

    - So many crawl/squeeze through sections. WHY?
    - Checkpoints in annoying places. Reload, squeeze through all those vents again. Please, no!
    - I don’t want to spoil anything, but at least one of major boss fights was super annoying…
    - Some important QoL stuff missing (for example, you need to stay in inventory to listen to the tapes that you have found)
    - Could be more scary in my opinion, however I do play most of the survival horror games so I’m hard to please here
    - Game could use more enemies variety
    - Not balanced well in terms of upgrades/combat

    This is the best looking game that I’ve played on PS5 so far. The only other game that I was super impressed with, in terms of graphics, was Demon Souls remake, but this was already long time ago…

    Game is a bit short (8-10h?), however expanding it without fixing other stuff could make the whole experience less fun, so maybe it is a good thing.

    I’ve listed many downsides, however it is still a very good game. I’m still looking forward to a DLC.    … Expand

    Dead space with no soul. It has everything a 2010 survival horror should have but lacks tension, and soul. It is hard to describe but the magic is gone. You feel powerless but for the wrong reasons that drive survival horror

It was definitely more of an action game than a horror game, which I get could be disappointing for some people, but I personally didn't mind. Plus, I think there were some really great atmosphere and tension-building sections (such as the tunnels in the Below chapter, or the Habitat area). It's definitely not a perfect game, it has some issues (underdeveloped plot, poor checkpointing, lack of boss fights/puzzles), but those issues paled in comparison to what the game got right in my opinion (amazing presentation, likeable characters, fun combat). Hope the game does well enough to get a sequel to iron out the issues. Will definitely dive back in when New Game Plus comes out in February, and am looking forward to the upcoming story DLC.… Expand

    The game ia great. If you like single player action thriller/horror games (like resident evil or dead space) youll like this game. More melee than other similar games. Environment is great and story is okay enough to keep you playing.

    My true score would be an 8, but to counter all the unfair,low hate or dislike scores I give it a 10.

    My favourite game of 2022 - played this 3 times and enjoyed it more each time I played - some of the reviews are absolutely rubbish for this game - once u mastered the combat there is lods of fun to be had - the atmosphere and graphics are second to none - just a masterpiece

    I thought this would become an issue early on and this was confirmed during the first boss arena. The combat mechanics are garbage - slow and sluggish, making this game incredibly frustrating to play. Absolutely terrible.

    Great game. 2-3 bugs at release, ok. But the feeling and the atmosphere is amazing. You always feel like you could die wherever you go. So the slow movement works really good!

As far as controls go I had to tweak the sensitivity for the aim and look speed since the enemies are way too quick for your character to keep up with by the time I turn around I was already dead. Overall some tight areas which make keeping track of monsters behind you hard .. things attacking more than once make it hard to continue to dodge .( I am playing on the hardest difficulty by the way) so it takes a lot to kill things.. healing does take a bit of time with lengthy animation of him kneeling down which I don’t understand why would you need to kneel down to inject your neck .? But ok .. the tightness of gameplay in cramped areas has its downside making it extremely difficult to keep up with more than one enemy . Again that can be due to difficulty Which is fine and realistic in’s a sense .

    I feel at times callisto tries hard to be scary with jump scares and other things which audio to me gives off I feel I expect a lot and predict what is gonna happen at times , though even still very beautiful and audio absolutely amazing! At times Lip sync in certain cases don’t line up and turns out worse than those dubbed 1970/80s kung fu movies Even with all these gripes which are fixable and have been improved slightly it is still a decent straightforward action game with amazing visuals . Really spoils the pacing. Also the stealth areas are tiresome. With such good combat it seemed out of place. There’s a few moments of enemy vocals when there is in fact no enemies to be seen which was a bit of a cheap tactic. Mostly however, I didn’t feel as tense or as scared as I did with Dead Space 1 and 2 - which was where the bar was set for me.

    Overall I would very much recommend the game but here’s hoping for a few improvements if there is ever room for a sequel on the horizon.    … Expand

In all fairness I waited two weeks to buy it, so there was like a 19GB patch that I had to download that I’m assuming cleared up a lot of the issues that people were initially complaining about.     - La historia es algo normal. Predecible y estándar, posiblemente no te sorprenda nada si estás acostumbrado a jugar survivals o consumir cine/videojuegos de temática espacial/zombis. Tampoco esperaba una obra maestra en este sentido.
    - Ausencia de variedad de puzzles, siempre se reducen a lo mismo. O busca un código/tarjeta o activa fusibles de puertas.
    - Enemigos bastante repetitivos con una IA mediocre. Especialmente se vuelve repetitivo en las peleas con minibosses o enemigos ciegos.
    - Aunque el combate está bien implementado, se convierte en una mecánica unidimensional con la que todos los enemigos se matan de la misma forma. Siendo lo más atractivo el GAR, el resto se reduce a estar esquivando (pulsando L en direcciones alternas) y golpeando/disparar en los momentos oportunos.
    - Modo sigilo muy malo.
    - Falso survival horror. No ahorres munición, hay que matar todo.
    - Ausencia de tensión durante la partida, al final casi todo se reduce a jump scares.
    - Ausencia caminos alternativos.
    - Secretos no lo suficientemente gratificantes.
    - 70€ + season pass es muy caro

The melee combat does indeed feel repetitive after a few hours but I appreciated they tried something new instead of copying the Dead Space formula.     This is a very fun game once you get the dodge and blocking down. I really dont like the left stick to block and dodge but it just takes some getting used to & feels clunky. Again the left stick sucks and enemies behind you are awkward to attack but the rest is so good.     Just finished this game after only a week, which considering the little time I have as a parent says a lot. The story was okay, felt over played. Game play felt clunky and unsaturated to me. I feel like the melee was just way to over predictable, leaving little room for imaginative gameplay.     This game is awesome!!! I alomost didn't by it due to all the negative reviews and I can see how people can pick it apart, but their loss. I took the dive and spent the money and I am not dissappointed. The graphics and sound is at its peak on the PS5 and its complete eye candy. I get the controls and the combat is not the best but is fun as heck. Smashing everything and causing carnageThis game is awesome!!!     Glen delivered big time. Top notch cinematic sci fi horror experience with incredible visuals and audio. Spectacular, atmospheric and gripping like Alien, Event Horizon, Pandorum and Pitch Black and just like them will be appreciated after some time... Thank you Glen and Striking Distance, a ride and hope for a sequels.

    On the whole, "The Callisto Protocol" is simply a great game. The setting, the handling and the atmosphere simply fit together and create an intense mood while playing. The game's controls are easy and quick to get into the blood and thus we can experience the moon and its secrets great.     A must play for anyone who enjoys survival horror...a new take on combat, great story and creepy as he'll settings...like alien isolation an instant classic.

    I liked the game. It could have done more in the puzzles (opening the doors of a maximum security prison by cutting a flat cable is too much) and in the armor. Missing New Game+. Overall, it's an excellent game..

    Solid game, good foundation to be built upon and has some of the best graphics I've seen. It's also nice to see a 3rd party make great use of the dual sense. Great atmosphere and use of lighting, love the art direction. It makes me think of Alien mixed with Chronicles of Riddick which is great for me.

I think peoples main problem with the combat is that easy is more like medium and medium is more like hard. Changing the difficulty may change the experience for you.

    Do I regret paying 70 dollars and tax? No. Would I recommend paying 70 dollars? No

    That said, I think it's definitely worth a try on sale.    … Expand

    The Callisto Protocol has faced criticism claiming it is a "Dead Space clone". Well, after playing it, I wish it was. Truth is, this is some of the worst combat I've ever seen in a modern game. Not to mention, the game feels uninspired, isn't scary in the least, and is full of Uncharted-esque moments that are incredibly dated. The game sucks.

    Callisto Protocol makes some mistakes, but in general computing the good wins by far. It is true that it is somewhat angry to see that something with so much potential has not been fully squeezed, but what it offers is already much more than most. We trust that combat system that we have loved and its setting to make the game worthwhile and we would love to see a second installment.

    A visually beautiful sci-fi experience which, surprisingly, doesn’t resort to simply cloning Dead Space. The difficulty and the fear factor both don’t reach the heights I’d expect, however. A shame! It could have been extraordinary.
