    Its a game with a dystopic backdrop where you control a Cat who cannot be programmed to solve complex puzzles, because its a cat. Who cannot interact with other humans, but meows at other cats, which is pretty weird considering cats aren't particularly talkative to each other and instead rely on body language and scent marking 99% of the time. The way cats can jump, dart around extremelyIts a game with a dystopic backdrop where you control a Cat who cannot be programmed to solve complex puzzles, because its a cat. Who cannot interact with other humans, but meows at other cats, which is pretty weird considering cats aren't particularly talkative to each other and instead rely on body language and scent marking 99% of the time. The way cats can jump, dart around extremely quickly are things that we cannot duplicate in terms of animation or movement, so of course you are given a light "jog" and contextual button prompts that trigger a smooth animation for jumping, but only in the most basic way a cat jumps up or down from places.

    Scratching serves no purpose, nor does lapping up water. I don't want to larp as a cat, I'm a human being and its not practical to do any of those things if they have no underlying mechanic or reason to be there other than, "its what cats do." I own two cats, and they would've been just as bored watching me play "Stray" as I was. Sure its cute, but with the kind of technology we have I would've expected something a little more complex than a walking simulator where they swapped the dog out for a cat instead. Furthermore, although it accomplishes its goals of being a "cat linear-cinematic-platformer with puzzle-solving elements," who cares? Me walking downstairs, opening the door to my bathroom and taking a crap is an interactive cinematic experience, and at least I get something out of it after its all said and done.

    Call me when they can actually figure out how to program a cat that acts like a cat.    … Expand

    Awesome game! I loved all aspects of it; the story, the gameplay, the puzzles and everything else! The characters and story are in-depth and give a lulling sense that draws you into this cyber city. I highly recommend!

    I can't think of a better protagonist than a cat. The setting is perfect, the music is unique, the story is captivating. I cried, laughed, smiled, learned. A masterpiece.

La música acompaña perfectamente los momentos de investigación, los momentos tristes, los momentos felices, los momentos de persecuciones... Es un punto muy fuerte.     Just a nice game that is original and well designed. Theres hope for future DLCs, or expansions, into new worlds and cities. But for now, hands down Annapurna.

    this is just terrible man. the moment the game starts being really fun it ends and I'm left with nothing. this should have been at least 10h long and I would have asked for refund it it wasn't for ps+

    No part of my fancies myself a cat person, and yet playing this game, I didn't ever really notice I WAS a cat. I found myself constantly looking forward, peering down alleys, looking out for new things to climb on to, trying to find answers to puzzles and how to get from A to B in the most efficient way. You don't spend longer trying to solve puzzles than you do exploring the world, and everything seems purposeful. Found a cool collectible? It solves a puzzle - now to find who takes it...etc. This game was just under 100% complete for me in 5h45m and I'm not at all bummed to go back for the Platinum. Really a delight of a game, and a perfect length.… Expand

    This game does what it intended to do perfectly!

    The simple platforming is intended. Imagine if you can freely jump anywhere. It would lead to many fails and frustration which this game is not going for. It meant for you to chill, and have some awww moments.

    The world is beautiful. The puzzles are fun. The story is fantastic. Highly recommended.

    Stray is great game. The story is interesting and focus on the future. Visually the game is stunning at many places. the lack of a photo mode is sometimes daunting. The movement, gesture and expression of the cat are really accurate and so are the element of gameplay. You move, jump and run like a cat. Which makes this game extra fun.     A short game that's not worth the money (especially in Brazil), you play for a few hours, finish the game... and nothing makes you want to come back and play more. The cat is cute and that's why everyone cheers, the story is minimally interesting (not memorable or epic) and what it stands out is the visual, but it doesn't bring anything new or interesting to the genre.

    Ich war eine der gehypten von Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 2042 usw.
    Ich habe erst wieder zum Spielen gefunden, als ich mich gezwungen habe Horizon FW ((PS5) zu Ende zu spielen.
    Dieses Spiel hat mich sehr viele Stunden gekostet und ich habe mich dann auch nach einigen Stunden in diese Welt verliebt, da sie nur so vor Kleinigkeiten strotzte.

    Aber...

    Stray hat mich einfach seit der ersten Minute gefangen, die Details gerade am Anfang mit der Familie, dann der Versuch einer Katze ein Geschirr überzuziehen (die fallen wirklich nach fünf Schritten um und legen sich hin, probierst es aus).
    Diese kleinen Sachen, haben mir seit langem gezeigt, wieso ich Spiele liebe, dass man sich einer Welt hingeben kann und in diese eintaucht, mit allen Gefühlen.
    Die Rätsel sind von einfach bis sehr hartnäckig (ein Resident Evil, darf sich aber gerne was an den Rätseln abschauen, würde mich freuen).

    Ja, die Steuerung auf PS5... R2 sprinten....X springen oder runter springen usw...
    Es ist keine Doktorarbeit dieses Spiel zu spielen, aber die Welt fesselt einen und man ist nur im ersten Bereich erst mal am Erkunden, da die Welt und die Roboter sehr liebevoll gezeichnet sind, man will einfach alles von selbst erkunden, halt wie eine Katze.

    Die Gegner...
    Ja, ihr muss vor Ihnen flüchten, aber man ist ja eine Katze und flink, dürfte also kein Hindernis sein, man hat ja auch eine Taste zum abschütteln ;)

    Die Grafik...
    Es sind keine Raytracing Spiegelungen auf der PS5 vorhanden, PC bin ich mir leider nicht sicher, aber man braucht es auch nicht, außer ihr schaut in jeder Pfütze nach, ob sich die Spiegelung auf und ab bewegt.

    Fazit:
    Falls ihr diese Review gelesen habt, dann kann ich nur dieses Spiel empfehlen, auch an alle die nichts mit Katzen anfangen können, aber haut schön auf die "Miau" Taste ;)    … Expand

    The first time I heard of this game I thought it was silly cat simulator game, but I was surprised of the depth and layers this game presents to us, I loved every pit of this game from discovering the truth about this world to building relationship with the other characters, fantastic game.

If you are a pet owner don't be surprised if your feline friend causes some barking or meowing. The added dualsense features make it a must play for ps5 users. only criticism is the length but IGreat indie title and a added bonus it is free for ps plus extra and premium users. I have played thousands of hours of games across countless platforms in every genre range and story type.     Fell in love as soon as I first saw Stray few years back and it has more than surpassed my expectations.
    Brilliant visuals coupled with an beautifully detailed world.
    Soundtrack and audio in general is top notch as well as the lifelike animation.
    Intriguing story and such a joy to explore and discover more lore.
    More fully fledged out sequel would be pure ecstasy.

    A really enjoyable game, at first I thought it was a bit short but that was just after playing a really long RPG so it may have just seemed short by comparison... I found I enjoyed playing the whole time though, and enjoyed exploring enough I'll probably also go back and re-play some parts. I also found the game made good use of emotion and (most importantly) presented being a cat really well.

    this game was definitely worth the wait. i can’t see anything wrong with this game. maybe that it was a bit short but it was a perfect game nonetheless.

    it’s environments are beautiful and it’s level design is masterfully crafted. the characters are incredible and the gameplay is so much fun. also dedicated meow button

    The game is very nice, its graphics are quite good, the city is all very striking, although the places you can walk are a bit limited, even so you feel like a real cat, the story is quite good.

And that, despite my enthousiasm, being able to play a cat is not enough to make a game good. So I am happy to report that this game actually exceeded my expectations.     Stray is nice and chill, but never boring. Jumping is easy and fluid and you don't have to worry about falling down. Soon you will feel like King Kitty, master of rooftops!

    There's actiony bits, but what I loved most were the town hubs where the game feels most like an old-fashioned adventure game. There's so much to do and see. Take your time to look around and be part of the setting. The world is gorgeous and the animations and expressions of the cat are outstanding.
    At around 6 hours, the game doesn't overstay it's welcome. And I appreciated that, because I still have tons of 40+ hour games to finish.

    Wholeheartedly recommended to everyone (who is open to a gaming experience that isn't a multiplayer shooter, and let's be honest, don't we have enough of those already?).    … Expand

La música sabe cuando sonar tenue y sutil y cuando callar para dejarte disfrutar los increíbles paisajes que se te presenta, la historia aunque predecible y nada nueva, sabe como contarse y entusiasmar al jugador por conocer mas del lore acerca de este universo. Aunque la experiencia se puede decir que es lineal,Es una aventura increíble, todos los personajes son adorables y entrañables. La música sabe cuando sonar tenue y sutil y cuando callar para dejarte disfrutar los increíbles paisajes que se te presenta, la historia aunque predecible y nada nueva, sabe como contarse y entusiasmar al jugador por conocer mas del lore acerca de este universo. Aunque la experiencia se puede decir que es lineal, me encanta que en las ciudades tengas tantos espacios para explorar, habitaciones que literalmente están ahí para nada salvo tu disfrute. Las texturas (como las hojas y las plantas) interactúan al tu paso y los espacios se sienten muy bien construidos, el mapeado es increíble y definitivamente recomiendo que no rushes el juego en tu primera partida, disfruta de explorar cada rincón, conocer a cada npc, y terminar todas las quest y recuerdos de cada zona.
    Ahora bien, no todo es miel sobre hojuelas, yo pague $220 MXN por el en precompra, lo cual es un precio mas accesible, pero sé que en este momento el precio es al rededor de 30 USD, lo cual puede doler un poco sabiendo que el juego es corto. Su rejugabilidad es muy poca (de 2 a 3 runs dependiendo de cuanto hayas logrado en tu primera partida) y aunque sé que el juego es mas un tipo de simulador de gato, me hubiera gustado que el plataformeo (que es excelente) fuera un poco mas difícil y tuviera la opción de dejarte hacerlo por tu cuenta, tomando riesgos y sufrir las consecuencias por acciones mal medidas.

Да , лично мне не хватало тоже свободных передвижений и прочего, но я смирился с этим , ибо понимал что это не triple-A проект, и стоит она не дорого по сравнению с остальными играми. За свои деньги, игра шикарная. Любителям кошек понравиться 10/10. История не настолько длинная конечно, но помним тот факт что и игра сама по себе не дорогая, и не позиционировала как какой-то большой проект. Красивейшая графика, кот ощущается как будто живой, все эти мелкие детали когда кот ходит по клавиатуре, или же запрыгивает на пианино сделано очень круто. Во многих играх такие мелкие детали упускают, но тут это добавили и за это уже игра достойна хорошей оценки. Игра очень приятная, плавная, всегда держит в интересе что будет дальше, интересная история с интересной концовкой. Лично я не ожидал поворота сюжета как в конце и и мне стало приятно, что сюжет игры не читается с первых миссий. Для тех кому жалко отдавать за эту игру 30$ идите играйте в FIFA ,которая стоит больших денег , а на деле является обычной донатной мусоркой.

And everything is done perfect. I haven't had a single complaint about anything. Who knew that playing as a cat would Absolutely levitate the playing experience. .     The gameplay is refreshing and fun. The one thing i dont like about it is the jump prompt can mess you up. The graphics are are clear and visually stunning. I recommend this title.

    I enjoyed every second of this game. The controls were good, the story was amazing, the characters were amazing, the environments were amazing. There's very little bugs and if there is they're very minor and don't stop you from enjoying the game.

    Definitely GOTY! I loved this game from start to finish. 100% finished the game within 10 hours. According to other reviews I can be done within 8 hours. I enjoyed the game way too much.
    The game is so cute. Not the game we expected, but the game we needed and deserved.

    Some minor things that bothered me are for example mirrors that one show blurry shades instead of real mirrored image. That doesn't fit to the rest of the game, in my opinion. My only complaint is the end--I love a bittersweet conclusion, but I feel like the payoff on the sweet side was incomplete. The bitter was what happened to B12, so it should have been sweetly rewarded by fulfilling the bookend set by the prologue, and you would be hard-pressed to convince me otherwise.

    Aka, (spoiler) if the game provided closure by reuniting the cat with its family/colony, this would have been a 10 for me. But without that, it's unsatisfying, for all that the rest of the game is just GREAT.    … Expand

    el gatojuego es un producto simplemente increible, lo precompre en cuanto salió en steam y cada dia que espere por el valio la pena, la historia me parece un 10/10 con una premisa interesante, los graficos se ven bien y no he tenido problemas de rendimiento pese a tener un pc regular, solo tuve 2 bugs los cuales fueron de sonido y visual respectivamente, el de sonido fue al patear un cuboel gatojuego es un producto simplemente increible, lo precompre en cuanto salió en steam y cada dia que espere por el valio la pena, la historia me parece un 10/10 con una premisa interesante, los graficos se ven bien y no he tenido problemas de rendimiento pese a tener un pc regular, solo tuve 2 bugs los cuales fueron de sonido y visual respectivamente, el de sonido fue al patear un cubo que habia causando que se escuchara infinitamente el ruido de ser pateado cada vez mas fuerte, el visual fue que el gato giró su cuello en un angulo de 360 grados separandolo de su cuerpo, a mi me dieron risa y no afectaron lo mas minimo en mi gameplay ni experiencia, juegazo.… Expand

I think the immersion of being a cat lost in a strange world filled with strange creatures trying to find a way back to your friends is really captivating. You aren’t a cat with superpowers or anything, which I thought was really cool. Sure the robot helps you communicate with the other creatures, but generally you move around like a cat, meow or scratch to get the attention of other creatures, and it just has this simple but heartwarming story of a cat trying to find his way home. You really become invested in the experience, I just can’t put it into words. Something about the game really tugs on your emotions. It’s just so expertly crafted that you feel a sense of investment into a minor character’s story after reading maybe 5 lines of dialogue. Then there are times where the game really makes you feel helpless as a cat, which further invests you into the story of this nameless little cat. The graphics are generally really good, the music and sound design is fantastic which really adds to the ambient experience.

    I absolutely loved this game, it didn’t set out to do anything groundbreaking, but it is a moving experience that is difficult to describe. The best way I can describe this game is that it has heart that few other games have, and it’s masterfully executed through simplicity.    … Expand

    I loved so much this game. The story is so much different compared to other thousands robot stories and the details you can see in the game are impressive. Longevity is very short but you’re gonna take time just to collect all the memories and badges. The setting is just amazing you’re gonna feel claustrophobic in every single street you put paws on.     A huge flaw with the game is that there are creatures that attack the cat and kill it. This is very shocking to sensitive girls! My 26 years old girl friend started crying and the evening was ruined.

    There should be a warning and a safe mode for a relaxed play without fear that anything would happen to the cat. The game is beautiful and plays well. It's just ruined by this one flaw!

    If you are allergic to cats, hate mystery, exploration and a good atmosphere in video games, don’t play Stray. Otherwise, you’ve probably already beaten it. It’s a rare occasion to get a title such as this. And if it looks like something you might enjoy, that’s likely because you most surely would.

    Stray makes the most of its choice of protagonist early on, really allowing you to do all the things a typical cat would do, though it eventually loses sight of that in favour of spotlighting the short story. That’s no cause for hissing, though it does leave the overall experience feeling somewhat like two kittens from different litters forced together. The combination works better than it should, but we’re ultimately left wondering what could’ve resulted if either half of the game had been given enough space to stand alone. [Issue#18, p.70]

    It sounds ridiculous. And maybe it is. But the first ten minutes of Stray broke our heart. We’re a soft-boiled egg when it comes to animals, even when they're completely fictional. A cat who loses his friends and then gets hurt? Enough for an intense feeling of sadness and pity. It is not the challenge, but the experience that is key in this game. You really play Stray for the atmosphere. And that's exactly right.
