    RE4 Remake is obviously amazing, i have finished it already 10 times. But what is hilarious about Metacritic, is to watch these absolute nolifer losers trying to desperately upvote their fake pathetic negative reviews, even tho everyone knows that they already lost lmao. I hope they keep doing it, because this is my new favorite entertainment lol.

    This is best remake Capcom has done so far, amazing work. RE2R was great, but RE4 has always been better RE game, so obviously RE4R is also automatically better than RE2R. But that's okay of course, both good, but RE4 always the best!

    Surprisingly good remake, one of the best games of 2023 and solid improvement over original. Also better than RE2 Remake. RE2 Remake was good for what it was, but RE4 is overall best Resident Evil game.

    Jogo maravilhoso, a versão de Playstation 5 está ótima. Foram fiel em muitos detalhes do original e fico muito feliz por isso. Porém a versão de Playstation 4 deixou a desejar muito !

    I think it's a great remake. Most of the parts that I didn't like in the original were corrected and a unity was provided in the story. The graphics, mechanics and gameplay are perfect. Expecting loyalty to the original is an unnecessary admiration, let's be open to innovations. Let's face it, capcom has done a great remake. I'm excited for the remake of the 5th game.

    I have played all the Resident Evil Remakes so far and was very cautious going into the RE4 remake as the previous RE3 remake was pretty terrible. However I was pleased to find out that RE4 turned out much better than expected. Fans of the original will surely see the many easter eggs and callouts from the original game. Newer players can still expect the great    Better than RE3 Remake

    Didn’t get to play this the first time it was released but glad I was given the opportunity this time around and man what a game!!! Great blend of action, horror and gameplay. Hopefully they remake resident evil 0, resident evil 1 and resident evil code Veronica.

    An amazing game overall!!!
    Great action , interesting characters(a little cliche maybe) , dark atmospheric graphics and finally one of the best gameplay experiences I have ever played.Also, it's a remake of a game that defined a new genre with a camera angle that inspired the best recent games like last of us , gears of war, mass effect etc.

My first playthrough took 27 hours- decent length. Largely well done remake of my favorite game with a few imperfections. IGood atmosphere.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all I have to say that I consider the Original RE4 a masterpiece and for me it is the best game of all times. When I heard about the remake I had certain expectations for it. Mostly it had to get rid of the few negative aspects of the game, cut the bad sections and add better ones instead and update the game to modern standards in terms of graphic and gameplay. The remake does a lot of good things in this regard but also misses a lot of good opportunities.
    The biggest flaw of the OG game was the island section for me (and a lot of others) where the game shifts a little too much to an action game. The pacing was just not right as there were too many action orientated segments and too few atmospheric and creepy ones. Especially because of the genius village and castle areas that come before it, the Salazar fight was always a turning point for me playing the OG. After the fight I always get the feeling that the most fun parts are over and that the game goes downhill from now one except for a few nice moments left like the regenerators or the U3 fight. My main expectation for this game was that the game will see the biggest changes here. Although there are some changes the remake unfortunately does not enough in my opinion. Not only is the U3 fight cut (maybe it will be in Ada's story though) but there was also not enough NEW things here. I would have loved to see another section where you play as Ashley here for example to lower the pace and build more atmosphere again. Big missed opportunity!
    In general there were a lot of things cut in the game but if you do that then you have to add something new at the same time or it is just lazy.
    Overall the remake stays close to the OG and accomplishes to improve the game in a lot of ways and especially for people that missed this masterpiece back in 2005 it is the best chance to experience it.

    Some other things I liked about the remake:

    - parry system with the knife. Also that the knife has durability. Really nice choice to add that.
    - moving while aiming, shooting and reloading obviously
    - more dialogue and storytelling in general is improved
    - new weapons (also knifes! I found that super cool)
    - the mine thrower is a really nice weapon now as you can use it as a bolt thrower too
    - you can store your weapons (at any time) in the storage which means that you can actually collect and switch between them in one run
    - the merchant tasks and his dialogue
    - enemy designs
    - the new treasure system
    - the shooting range looks awesome!
    - crafting system
    - character design

    and some negatives:

    - no healing items on short cuts and therefore no healing animations like in RE5. You still have to pause the game to go into the item menu to heal. That takes the player out of the moment (most likely a fight)
    - I don't like to criticize specific people so much but the voice actor of Ada did a really bad job in this game and the performance is not worthy a game of this reputation.
    - the "You are dead" screen is just worse than the OG one. Why did they not keep that?
    - some death animations are either censored or poorly made. Some examples are: The Dr. Salvador kill from the front. The acid kill by Novistadors. The "fingers in the eye" animation (Leon's expression and the scream do not fit at all).
    - some reload animations do no feel so stylish and cool like in the OG
    - Although the OG soundtrack is still remixed in the game at some points, the new one can't reach this level of uneasiness that the OG one achieved    … Expand

    What losers are giving this game low scores? It’s one of the best remakes ever made. I love the original, it’s one of my favorite games, and this remake does it justice and then some. The haters are probably just mad you can’t look up Ashley’s skirt anymore. Weirdos.

    It´s a great game and experience. Of course the original has some details that today aren´t as good as before and Capcom removed it, but the dark tone and gameplay are fantastic. Something that lack´s off are the microtranstion of upgrade tickets, that can be purchase with real money, but this doesn´t compromise the experience. By that i was aware how good the original game was, and i had really high expectations on remake, and ive gotta say - thats one of the greatest remakes in videogame history, alongside with FF7R, RE2 and Demons Souls Remake this game shines. This game became my favorite RE game, even though ive only played 2;3;4;8, but now ive got a motivation to finish them all, but i am 100% sure bon other Resident Evil game will give such perfect experience as RE4 gave me. The reason why i liked this game so much, is first of all a good combination between horror/survival and action, and by that this gave always keep the player interested in what’s happening in there. Also one the key factors why i really liked this game was characters - God , they are badass. Leon, Krauser, Louis, Ada, Osmund Sadler, Ramon Salazar - all of them are extremely charismatic and interesting in their own ways, and yeah Ashley is not that annoying as she was in a past, and at least she has a fascinating look.
    Also ive gotta admit amazing bossfights ( except Del Lago ) and what a great soundtrack they have. The themes of Krauser, Ramon, Sadler are that good, that i can compare them with Fromsofts osts, that says a lot. In the end i don’t have anything bad to say about this game, it was a pure pleasure to play this game, and surprisingly pleasing to obtain platinum trophy in this game. One of the best remakes, and a great game on its own.

    I had skipped RE4 when it originally was released, not sure why. I'm glad they released this remake, it is a fantastic game. Great combat, great story, great graphics, and fantastic audio. Loved the game from start to finish.

The original is a great and generation defining game but the remake essentially builds on that by rectifying some flaws & quirks that re4 2005 had. Com certeza um jogo obrigatório para os admiradores do gênero.     Nearly all of the characters' voices were ones I adored, with the exception of one; while I don't dislike the voice, the performance felt rushed and incomplete.
    A number of the game's portions are absent from the remake, which is sad.

    I finished the Resident Evil 4 remake today. My wife was watching me play this one as one of the only series she will watch me play as she used to watch her brother play these back in the day. Plugged away at it a few chapters each weekend for the last few months. It was a really good remake. I finished it originally on the ps4 remaster, but the remake was really great. It keeps a lot of things the same while changing up the story and cutting some content here and adding it there. I think the remake is a much more balanced experience than the original and much more accessible to the modern gamer. Gameplay tweaks have helped to modernize the remake in certain aspects. One of the biggest complaints of the remake is leons sluggish movement, which I actually appreciated. I was worried about what a modern control scheme would do to the game since the tank controls were such an integral part of the fear in the gameplay of the original, but it seems capcom was aware of this and instead made leon move more sluggishly in order to nerf the control scheme of a modern third person shooter. Movement was always a source of anxiety in the original and I'm glad to see they have somewhat preserved that idea in the remake. One of the biggest complaints of the original is that it drug on for too long and I feel that capcom did a beautiful job of trimming some of the fat off of the story. Theres only one missing boss fight as far as I can tell that upset me but for the most part I really like what they did with the story. I also appreciated the new crafting system as it helped to maxmize income and helped me to more comfortably afford upgrades and items. I also like what they did with the knife system - knives now break and must be crafted and repaired but they are also much more useful. Enemies that grabbed leon can be instantly broken away from and damaged using the knives which helps to keep combat flowing a bit more smoothly. If other players don't appreciate that system as much as I did, a knife with infinite durability can be unlocked by breaking all of the costellan statues. I feel that capcom put a lot of thought into the changes of the remake and allowed it to be a wholly new experience while also sticking as close as possible to the original, I was very pleasantly surprised, I honestly thought this game would be terrible after the resident evil 3 remake. I'm so glad it wasn't. This is a great game, my only complaints are that it doesnt hit 60fps and I didnt like the change to salazars' boss fight and the removal of the u-3 bossfight. 9/10… Expand

    Look, I've bought both re4 at launch on the GameCube and on launch on the ps5 and truly, it recaptures and even betters the original. The controls feel great. Smooth and responsive. I love the new combat system. The parrying is a great move.I also love the new boss fights. They feel grand while still feeling justified and not just pandering.     1. The story
    This is a no spoiler review so I can't get much into details but the story feels like a step downwards from the original. To be honest, it's a big step down from the original.
    2. The Voice Acting
    These two are kinda intertwined with each other but the VA is a main part of what makes the story feel bad. The voice acting for some characters is just.... unbearable. It's so hard to listen to two of my favourite characters (Ada Wong And Leon Himself ) have some really cringy and cheesy line delivery. I think the worst offender of this is Ada Wong. I feel like turning off the game or just muting my tv everytime she comes on the screen. There are some good VAS though. Like I think Ashley is 100% better than the original.

    Summary:
    Overall, I think resident evil 4 is great. Good action and horror, good combat system and pretty great graphics. There are some negatives though like the okay story and cringeworthy dialogue delivery. Other than that, Resident Evil 4 Is an incredible remake that I highly recommend for new and old fans alike.

    What a ride that was, from the likeable characters, to the great horror sections, the beautiful set-pieces, and the very fun gameplay mechanics, this game is all-around fantastic.     I did find the puzzles kind of uninteresting to be honest, and the boss fights are mostly bullet sponges, but I enjoyed the backtracking, going back to areas I already explored only to find more things, the way the world is interconnected makes exploring feel smooth.

    Definitely recommending this one, it's a very solid videogame experience that pleases both survival horror fans and action fans alike, a superb Remake.

    The backdrop here is the same, you play as Leon and are trying to save Ashley, the presidents daughter, who has been kidnapped and is going to be used in some secret plot to infect the US with the new plaga bug. Yes, this is still kind of a silly opening and premise for this game but it is a little more effective this time around due to Ashley being a much more fleshed out character. Ashley is no longer a complete damsel in distress, her dialogue and actions are a great improvement over the original. She forms a much more believable bond with Leon this time around. Leon is as stoic an heroic as he was in the original, he is so serious with almost all of his dialogue that it borders on being very funny almost every time he opens his mouth. He is more like an 80s action star now, mixing in a lot of quips during fights like "bingo" when you blow a Ganado's head off or "guess we're about to find out" when asked if he gets car sick before getting on a mine cart. But, in true Resident Evil fashion, nobody is really here for the dialogue and story.

    Resident Evil 4 brought the franchise out from being survival horror focused to being full on balls to the wall action centric. The game liberally throws enemy after enemy and set pieces at you around every corner. There is no shortage of ammunition, knives, and grenades to slow you down in your rescue mission to find Ashley. All the weapons have a great feel and weight to them when you succeed in staggering or blowing off the appendages of the Ganados. The new knife system, including a fun and visually appealing parry system, adds another layer to this action masterpiece.

    There are a significant number of changes to the original design, mostly in additional objectives and side material. The map is now a little more open now allowing for Leon to backtrack and complete various side objectives for the merchant that reward new gear and items. The crafting system, attaché cases, and shooting range all received overhauls to make them more modern feeling and fresh. The crafting system is pulled directly from the new Resident Evils with the gunpowder and resources to craft which ammo you prefer.

    I have played through the original several times so was a little bummed to see some pulled sequences, the action set pieces are not 1 to 1 with the original. Just to name a few, there is no longer the runaway boulder, the giant Salazar statue, the lava/fire room, the Krauser knife fight, and most unfortunately the harrowing fight against the creature in the caves with the falling platforms that you had to beat. I understand some of these changes, most of these were quick time events that really had no place in a modern game. It just does kind of feel bad when a specific sequence you are anticipating isn't in the remake of a game, but it is easy to not let it affect your experience when the minute to minute action is so fun.

    My only other real gripe is that Leon's controls and movement feel a little wobbly and stunted at times. Leon does not exactly stop and turn on a dime in this game making him easy prey for the enemies charge attacks and makes it very difficult to dodge, dynamite, trip wires, or any of the other projectiles they throw at you.

    Overall, while I don't think it reaches the highs of the original or the excellence of the RE2 remake, this is a wonderful reimagining of on of the best games of all time.    … Expand

    Even if the game is inferior to the original, ( the original is the best game of all time), I don't understand the 0/10 in mass. It's completely unfair. Fans who lowered the rating, shame on you frankly.

For example games that usually have microtransactions have their in game economy completely unfair towards the player making them grind countless hours, however in this game it's not like that. The introduction of the knife durability adds more things to for player to think about long term, especially in professional difficulty, because knife is directly tied to parries and getting out of tricky situations. Weapons feels awesome to use with lot of impact (shotguns and magnums etc). Yeah pretty much this is really good package. There still some issues game like with hitboxes and invisible corners that needs fixing.… Expand

    So so good, this game really made my inner child SCREAM of excitement. RE4 will forever be my fav childhood game. If you love the original RE4, TRUST, you will want to play the remake. I only gave it a 9/10 because a certain boss was cut out (obviously I'm mad about it) but nonetheless, it's still an amazing game.

    The game is obviously different. Yet... it feels familiar. The spirit of the original is still there! Boss fights are improved (although one was cut out). Ashley finally resembles a human, is actually useful and is significantly less annoying to a point I wanted to rescue her. Luis got more screen time and the game's better for it.
    Remake even improved on what was seriously lacking in the OG - horror. It's still not a horror game (far cry from it's predecessors) but there are more scary parts, albeit not that scary.

So to compensate player advantages enemies are faster and a little bit stronger. There's much to tell(crafting, stealth which puts you at advantage at the start of the combat, different cases and charms etc...) but you get the idea. You will find out by yourself.

    Cons: I'll start with a more subjective problem which is enemy stagger. In the original 1 headshot would immidiately stagger enemy so you could melee it here It needs several shots(Maybe It happens only for hardcore mode which I played first time) which I had problem getting used to it but that issue slowly became less problematic. Second there is no much content after finishing the game, Capcom is planning to release mercenary mode later as a free dlc but I hate this behaviour from modern companies not delivering the full package.

    I recommend to buy it even now. If you have not played RE 4 before play original first and then remake both will worth your time.    … Expand

    When I was a kid, one way in particular that I knew I now owned a great game was that once the credits rolled, all I wanted to do was immediately start a new save file and play through it again.
    It's been a good while in my adult life since I've ever had that, and RE4 Remake is among the few in recent years that gave me that magical feeling.
    The game feels incredibly additive in a lot    When I was a kid, one way in particular that I knew I now owned a great game was that once the credits rolled, all I wanted to do was immediately start a new save file and play through it again.
    It's been a good while in my adult life since I've ever had that, and RE4 Remake is among the few in recent years that gave me that magical feeling.

    The game feels incredibly additive in a lot of ways. Never trying to replace or just be the definitive version of what many would call one of the greatest games of all time. Instead, it feels like it's tapping into something new; bringing you back to immaculately rendered versions of familiar places but flipping things on their heads. There are moments where this feels like this could be the "Master Quest" version of the 2005 original, albeit nearly 20 some years in the making.
    The step back from the campy fun of the original script is sorely missed in parts, but I really enjoyed the more nuanced and human approach to Leon as well as the supporting cast. He's now truly haunted by the events of Raccoon City, and feels like he has a genuine chip on his shoulder. When one of those classic lines comes out now it doesn't feel like just goofy fun, it feels like he's trying to put up a front; a brave face to not look like he's giving into the despair of the situation. Ashley goes on a great arc in the remake, from frightened and untrusting to headstrong and confident in herself and your duos capabilities.
    The way in which characters like Luis are expanded on was also brilliantly done. I've seen a fair share of ire directed at the way in which Ada is portrayed in the game, citing that she comes across as cold compared to the original. However I found it to be pretty faithful. It never read to me as a change in character, but perhaps a more clearly defined attempt for her to keep her personal feelings as well as Leon himself at arms length.

    One last thing I'd say is that it's one of the best "game-feel" games I've played in a long time. I had thought that The Last of Us Part II may hold on to the podium position into terms of 3rd Person Action game feel for some time. While this isn't identical and the games themselves are very different in the challenges they pose to the players, this way has a buttery smooth arcade feel to the movement and an easily learnable precision to the way in which the mechanics interact. Once you've kicked a granny Genado into a crowed a few times, you instantly start to understand the best ways to approach each group or mob. That's not to say that the game gets easier as you go. The challenges get ratcheted up at a steady but consistently fun pace from beginning to end.

    Es una experiencia exelente .Un digo remake muy entretenido lo que puedes pedir de un resident evil , el funcionamiento es muy estable Se mantiene en los 60 frames permaneciendo cómo uno de los mejores remakes que eh jugado (opinión personal) , sin embargo recomiendo probarlo para que se juzgue correctamente este título

Resident evil 4 tem um sistema de capítulo e isso nao me agrada muito, então a nota cai um ponto de 10 para 9.

    May not be the scariest in the Resident Evil franchise. But it does fully embrace the B-movie camp, from the 2005 original. Making this a joy to play through, and another win for Capcom:)

Although they do remove some scenes and plot points, they arnt very iconic or impactful which keeps the game from straying away too far from the original.     This game is definetely not easy like others say. Played on pc tho. Story is ok. World is great. They say its horror but not too scary to be honest. My first RE game but definetely gonna try more!

Ремейк тоже очень порадовал, всё стало еще лучше, единственный минус на мой взгляд, это упущенная возможность более подробно рассказать историю жителей деревни, замка, этого культа и т.д. через записки и окружение, очень мало таких историй. В остальном все круто, рекомендую!Играл в РЕ 4 еще на ПС 2, очень понравилось тогда. I got to relive the same masterpiece again. Enjoyed my time with it.     Great game. Feels like the original. Few minor things that i personally disliked, i attempt to stealth my way through some of the stages but they just respawn which irritates me. Other then that the game is amazing. The enemies look and feel scarier. The game felt good. I def think this is one of the better Remake games out there. Great job.

    Tremendo remake este de RE4 , respeta muchísimo al original y además le agrega cosas que le sientan muy bien y alargan la vida útil del juego al darte ganas de volver a jugarlo una vez terminado. La verdad es de lo mejor que se ha visto en remakes, cuando le agreguen el modo mercenarios quizás complete el 10 perfecto.

I give it a 9 and not a 10 cause I have two main gripes: Leon is extremely heavy and slow, which can be tedious at times. And the voice acting is mediocre, especially Ada's. She sounds old, bored and dead inside. But the game is really cool and looks fantastic. I'm just notGreat job from Capcom who prove they are among the best at remakes.     The story of the game is a mediocre story, the gameplay is very enjoyable and attractive, in terms of visuals, it is equal to Cross Gen 2023 games and has a stunning visual, the main boss fights are very similar to each other. The sound design of the game is wonderful, the enemies have a good variety and only one new type of enemy has been added to the remake compared to the original version.

    Resident Evil 4 Remake not only does right by its original source of inspiration, but it also sets a high bar for what modern day remakes can be. All components of the story have been finetuned into a more well-thought out package, and that’s before mentioning the game’s full use of today’s graphical prowess to deliver a more terrifying interpretation of rural Spain. The core gameplay also retains what made it so great back in the day, but with modern amenities such as a parrying system, quick-select for weapons and the ability to run. And despite the new improvements, the increased aggressiveness of the enemies ensures that the game never feels like a cakewalk. I don’t know who still needs to be convinced at this point, but Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece that I cannot recommend enough.
