Aug 14, 2023A masterful mix of souls-like and rogue-like elements with some excellent third person shooting, makes Remnant 2 a game you can sink hundreds of hours into and still not get enough.
-
Aug 1, 2023Remnant 2 almost feels like an extinct kind of game. It is a 'finished' product - except for the bugs and already announced downloadable content - that you can theoretically (re) play almost 'infinitely', with a maximum of three people and without fuss. Because so many elements are randomly generated, no SEO article or YouTube video can compete with all the surprises and secrets this sequel offers. This is a rare game that you want to app other people about what you have discovered or experienced. They are not often made like this anymore, but Gunfire Games is doing it a second time.
-
Aug 1, 2023Remnant II is a faithful and revolutionary sequel. A huge game, fun to play with friends, full of things to do. A manifesto of the talent of the Gunfire Games guys.
-
Jul 30, 2023Remnant 2 is an impeccable work by Gunfire Games and a very high level sequel. Delivers the improvements and innovation expected by players and shows potential for even more to come. It might still not be the best solo experience possible, but it sure is one of the best co-op experiences out there.
-
Jul 28, 2023I find myself thinking this about a lot of games this year, but in a weaker year Remnant 2 could be a GOTY contender. Don’t hesitate to check it out if you like these types of games.
-
Jul 24, 2023Remnant 2 is simply the perfect sequel. It improves the elements that already made the first game great and interesting, while not changing what was best in the original. It is clear that the larger budget not only had a positive impact on the visuals and gameplay improvements, but also allowed the developers to unleash their imagination when it comes to world design. It is currently the best soulslike game not focused on melee weapons.
-
Jul 20, 2023If you’re a fan of the first game or want a new third-person shooter with tons of replayability thanks to randomized levels and dungeons, this game is the right choice for you. Remnant 2 might not technically be a looter shooter, but plenty of loot can be found. You have to be willing to go down the spooky alleyway or head into the mysterious hole in the ground and trust you’ll find something cool.
-
Aug 8, 2023Remnant II is an addictive experience designed for all who enjoy video games. With beautiful scenarios, high replay value, and versatile gameplay, the title offers excellent value for those who appreciate challenging action.
-
Aug 2, 2023Remnant 2, like its predecessor, is an almost infinitely playable amalgamation of a soulslike and a looter shooter, mainly thanks to the co-op that perfectly matches the game's 'procedurally generated' content. It's not a huge improvement on the first part and as a single player experience it's only recommended for the most hardcore gamers, but the original bosses, levels, beautiful music and exciting Events make it highly recommended for game packs.
-
Jul 25, 2023Remnant II is the most improved sequel that I've played in a long time and I can't wait for the third installment to release. Until then, I'll enjoy blasting away all sorts of dastardly foes within the absurdly wondrous world that's presented here.
-
Sep 20, 2023Developer Gunfire Games returns with the more polished sequel Remnant II. Players itching for an open world of brutality can take on a randomized campaign for hours of entertainment. Like its predecessor, the plot steps away from the forefront while the gameplay does all the talking. Defend yourself and your teammates against swarms of deadwood, and other massive entities until you conquer The Root. The immersive atmosphere and quick thinking mechanics will be your best distraction this year. In all, this sequel displays Gunfire Games' efforts in listening to their fandom and polishing that feedback. Any gamer can find enjoyment and satisfaction when they tune in unaccompanied, but the real fun begins once your friends join the fight.
-
Aug 8, 2023Remnant II is a great shooter with lush visuals and compelling enemies and when played as such is a fantastic sequel. The RPG/loot mechanics never really excel though and feel more like additional weight to the game rather than an interesting point of focus. And that miserable final boss battle may have taken ten years off of our lives.
-
Aug 4, 2023Great work from Gunfire Games 2. Remnant 2 is a demanding title, but one that always rewards you appropriately. Surprisingly, the title proves to be much more subtle than it seems, whether it's for its brilliant boss or for the few puzzles that punctuate the exploration. The game's insane bestiary also contributes to maintaining constant interest, as does the title's superb artistic direction. Despite it's poor story, Remnant 2 offers an epic journey. A pure success.
-
Aug 2, 2023Even though Remnant 2 makes more sense as a multiplayer experience, it is still a valuable package worth a try, but the $50 price tag might be a bit steep considering it’s not a AAA title.
-
Jul 28, 2023A superior sequel sees Gunfire Games push the Remnant series to new heights. Those heights cause some nosebleeds, but they’re worth it to experience one of the most interesting action RPG experiences I’ve had in recent years.
-
Jul 26, 2023A significant improvement on the last game and one of the best Soulslikes of recent years, with excellent use of procedural generation and so much variety it’s almost impossible to see everything.
-
Jul 26, 2023There’s a lot to like about Remnant II – this is a very worthy sequel. It offers more of the same challenging, world-hopping, third-person shooter action, but this time with more choice, more polish, and a variety of gameplay improvements. Fans of Remnant: From the Ashes will lap this up, and newcomers are likely to get a lot of enjoyment from it too – as long as they’re brave and persistent.
-
Jul 26, 2023Remnant II surpasses Remnant: From the Ashes and improves every one of its aspects.
-
Jul 24, 2023Featuring multiple classes, strange worlds, frantic combat, and astounding replayability, Remnant 2 more than improves on the foundation laid by its predecessor, making for an enjoyable and action-filled romp.
-
Jul 20, 2023Remnant 2 is a worthy successor, taking everything great about the original and expanding it in several fun ways. There are some blemishes and occasional frustrations, but it's still an engaging world-hopping odyssey.
-
Jul 20, 2023Remnant 2 feels like a love letter to the fans of the first, with an emphasis on replayability and some new features. The different experiences that the game can generate from one person to the next are impressive, as each run feels unique. Combat feels great, and the freedom in build creation is a huge improvement over its predecessor. Still, some issues with the game's core may leave some disappointed.
-
Jul 24, 2023Remnant II is better than its predecessor in basically every way imaginable, but an even bigger focus on procedural generation brings with it some baggage. Navigation is more difficult than it needs to be, while the UI leaves a lot to be desired. In the heat of the action, though, Remnant II is a great, satisfying shooter that allows for lots of different team compositions through deep character customisation. Get a few friends involved for some online co-op fun and you could have yourself an all-new obsession.
-
Jul 30, 2023Remnant II is an impressive technical and artistic accomplishment in some ways, offering an intermittedly-striking, cutting-edge procedural world that’s satisfying to unravel. Unfortunately, a forgettable story, middle-of-the-road gunplay, dull loot, and some performance issues means this fantastic world isn’t always that fun to inhabit. Some folks, particularly those with a regular co-op party, will be drawn into this dark multiverse, but others may find Remnant II only provides scattered fragments of excitement amidst the frustration.
-
PLAYSep 6, 2023Remnant II is capable of surprises with its varied world design, and offers an enjoyable co-op experience, but its combat loop is needlessly stodgy and repetitive. [Issue#31, p.70]
-
Jul 20, 2023Indeed, Remnant 2 will be much more appreciated in multiplayer than alone. The customization possibilities will be multiplied (three characters with double archetypes, it's starting to do things!) And the exploration is made less bland since everyone trains from one place to another. The boss fights are all the more interesting to maneuver without being more complex. Otherwise, Remnant 2 remains quite linear and complex to appreciate, especially since some problems not corrected for the first episode are back. Something difficult to digest four years later. It is therefore difficult to turn to Remnant 2 for a solo experience. However, it shows its full potential in multiplayer to those looking for demanding games that will satisfy their thirst for customization.
