It's good but I wish they leaned more into better gunplay rather than staying with the souls dodge based gameplay. Don't get me wrong it does work with fast paced games (Bloodborne is one of the best ever made) but in a third person rogouelike it falls a little flat. I would have preferred something like Returnal or Risk of Rain 2. This just gets repetitive fast.

Highly addictive gameplay if your into rpg's. More of a looter shooter with rpg mechanics than a souls like imo. Obviously developed by a smaller studio. UE5 helps big time even though it's not used to its fullest and optimization isn't anything to write home about. Overall it's a fun and serviceable game.

It seems common practice in the game industry to tempt (3 days early access) customers into paying upfront for a faulty game and Remnant 2 seems to be another case where this has happened.

Remnant 2 is missing some major feature and that is the possibility to immediately connect with your friends. So no friends list is shown in the game. The Devs opted to offer a workaround to look for friends on a wing and prayer that required endless refreshing. If you are lucky it is possible to connect within 20 min.
And don't let me get into the promised Survival Pack for preorder customers. It's simply not there.
The game by itself looks and plays great. Improvements over Ashes are working fine.
Could have been a decent 8 or 9......

It's a very good game, I loved the first part as well, but I like the second part even better, the graphics are nicer, the gunplay was also polished, the game may have become a little more difficult, but I don't mind it at all, at least it's a challenge. I think I will play the game again many times 10/10

Pretty mediocre game with nice graphics.
NPCs are boring (most Souls likes are the same), drops are boring (mostly rings), action is meh, levels follow the exact same formula (3-4 areas per level with small enemies + one special enemy), bosses are fine.
I am not a fun of procedural generation, even in games I loved like Returnal..

I liked Remnant 1 especially for its coop feeling. Sadly part 2 has exactly the same strengths and weaknesses as its predecessor. The game feels at times really unbalanced, performance is definitely not the strongest point and some bosses are very hard.

If the game wants to go souls-like then skip difficulty options as a whole but if you decided to give a choice they should be better

If the game wants to go souls-like then skip difficulty options as a whole but if you decided to give a choice they should be better balanced. The beginning as a whole feels very hard until you get the character somewhat going. Melee feels unproperly implemented in regards to enemy types and bosses (most of them are distant, flying)

Again the gameplay is strongest in coop. The classes feel okay-ish but I think they shouldnt hide more than 50% of the classes behind unlocks. Last but not least I feel the item variety is lacking by a lot (and seems worse than in 1) - some unlocked weapons are again - not very viable or very situational. Considering you have limited slots they should be more versatile.

Currently I am a bit torn on whether I would recommend it. For the reduced price tag and a sale I think it is a worthwhile game if you enjoy gunplay and a souls-like difficulty threshold.

I'm not really seeing how this game merits so much hype. Sure, it's nice to see a game with ZERO microtransactions; but that's about it. To me, the story is dry, the mechanics is annoyingly repetitive. I can also fall in line with saying that the graphics are dated af, but to me, you don't need horizon forbidden west graphics for a game to be good. Great story, great everything except the bosses. They are frantic, hard and not fun, on the one hand, and unforgivably easy on the other. It's a shame, really. Even the hard ones are hard for the wring reasons...fast moving things coming at you from all directions. The boss itself always just needs a rolling dodge (tedious dodge roll dodge roll) here or there.. mediocrity at itsGreat story, great everything except the bosses. Its ok from a casual fan looking in ; Graphics are sub passable but are still in the middling Ps4 era so nothing outstanding in visuals or resolution ; controls feel firm and responsive; so far the story is engaging enough on its own to want to know more about this world and universe ; so far the gameplay is decent enough to keep playing better than FF16 for me at this point

I never played Remnant: From the Ashes. I heard decent things but never decided to sink my teeth into the game. I saw trailers for Remnant 2 and thought it looked good, and bought it shortly after release. I am overall glad that I did, although the game is not without its flaws.
I heard people say that Remnant was basically "Dark Souls With Guns", which I think is pretty dumb, but

I heard people say that Remnant was basically "Dark Souls With Guns", which I think is pretty dumb, but somewhat accurate. Remnant is definitely heavily inspired by the "Souls-Like" genre, but it does a lot of things to distinguish itself. The gameplay feels nothing like classic Souls-Likes. This is in large part due to the gunplay, which I found to be consistently solid throughout my platinum playthrough. Sure, there's a dodge with i-frames and replenishable healing items, but beyond that kind of basic stuff, Remnant 2 feels very solid and unique as a game. It is not a Souls clone.
Like I said, the gameplay is solid. It's nothing to write home about but it works. The enemy types are lacking in diversity, but there is enough to keep you entertained at least for your first playthrough. Some bosses are pretty good and interesting, others are not. The difficulty doesn't feel super well-balanced all the time. The various worlds are overall solid and interesting (N'Erud stands out as a clear weakest link to me though.) The visuals are sufficient and the art direction is excellent. Sound design is pretty good. Performance has its problems, I had some occasional stutters but nothing crazy. One aspect of the game that stands out as particularly good is the secrets. There are so many convoluted secrets in this game it's crazy. The game is fairly short, but if you explore every world and their variants, you may stumble upon (or use a guide to find) a lot of really cool side stuff that provides you with unique weapons, traits, armor, etc. This is probably the strongest part of the game. Despite the worlds becoming repetitive after a couple rolls, the depth of the hidden side content was impressive and well-integrated into the game.
Story is pretty weak, however. 'Main' characters don't really matter that much and feel like filler rather than quality content. The lore found throughout the world via environment and text tend to be much more compelling than the aggressively bland main narrative. Good thing pretty much no one that plays this game seriously or knows anything about Remnant is in it for the story.
So, all said and done, Remnant 2 is a game that does a lot of things pretty well, one or two things very well, and one or two things poorly. Overall, it all balances out to a solid package that I think is worth the $50. It's pretty good, but not mind-blowing.

This game is nothing special at all.

Its maybe worth playing if you are searching for a 3-player Coop game. If you are 2, I recommend Atlas Fallen as it at least has a real world to explore and stuff.

Developer Gunfire Games returns with the more polished sequel Remnant II. Players itching for an open world of brutality can take on a randomized campaign for hours of entertainment. Like its predecessor, the plot steps away from the forefront while the gameplay does all the talking. Defend yourself and your teammates against swarms of deadwood, and other massive entities until you conquer The Root. The immersive atmosphere and quick thinking mechanics will be your best distraction this year. In all, this sequel displays Gunfire Games' efforts in listening to their fandom and polishing that feedback. Any gamer can find enjoyment and satisfaction when they tune in unaccompanied, but the real fun begins once your friends join the fight.

Remnant II is capable of surprises with its varied world design, and offers an enjoyable co-op experience, but its combat loop is needlessly stodgy and repetitive. [Issue#31, p.70]

A masterful mix of souls-like and rogue-like elements with some excellent third person shooting, makes Remnant 2 a game you can sink hundreds of hours into and still not get enough.
