    Best PS5 game to date from a technical perspective. Very well crafted from all perspectives. Gameplaywise very much like the first game (which I guess is to be expected). If you like the first game this is a solid buy. Great for kids, my 5 yr old loves this game. Solid 9 if you ask me, i have fun playing too.

    Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a joyful new game in the series, taking advantage of the PS5's SSD to deliver some new things that couldn't be done on PS4.

    If you've played any previous Ratchet and Clank game before, you'll feel at home with this one. This is a story based 3rd person shooter with platforming elements and great characters. Crazy gadgets and weapons have always been what    Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a joyful new game in the series, taking advantage of the PS5's SSD to deliver some new things that couldn't be done on PS4.

    If you've played any previous Ratchet and Clank game before, you'll feel at home with this one. This is a story based 3rd person shooter with platforming elements and great characters. Crazy gadgets and weapons have always been what makes this series' gameplay stand out. Previous games have featured sandbox-style open levels but this new game offers a couple of levels that are quite large maps, almost open worlds on their own complete with side quests and NPCs. They are so big in fact that you are given rocket boots to travel faster than by feet, as if driving a vehicle.

    Shooting enemies is the main activity but there are also other things to do. First there are the dimensional puzzles of Clank. Then there are the twin stick shooter levels with Glitch where you clean up viruses in computers. There are a few racing sequences with the speed bug (not races to win a trophy, but just races to escape). And you can find many dimensional bubbles, or rather mini levels, to explore for bonuses.

    No other game out there delivers this experience of instantaneous dimension hopping as well as this game does, thanks to the ultra fast SSD. There is also a sequence far into the game with the giant robot seen in the trailers that couldn't possibly be done on PS4 in a real-time in-engine cutscene. Instead on PS5 this sequence is rendered in real-time and playable, even though it's on-rails and scripted, but so much is happening that PS4 could only playback an FMV video of it.

    Insomniac Games again deliver an outstanding amount of choice when it comes to graphics and frame rate. Similar to what they've done with Spiderman Remastered and Miles Morales, you can choose between a Quality mode (dynamic 4K30 with Ray Tracing reflections), a Performance mode (dynamic 4K60 without RT) and a Performance RT mode (dynamic 1080p60 with Ray Tracing reflections). Personally I always play these games on Performance RT mode because it offers the best of both worlds (60 fps and RT). Recently the developers patched a new 120Hz mode that allows you to play the game with lower latency at 60 fps for the Performance Modes (with and without Ray Tracing) and a 40 fps option when selecting the (normally 30 fps) Fidelity Mode at 4K resolution.

    The star of the show is the Dualsense controller. The haptics ain't as good as those of Astro's Playroom (a game literally designed around the Dualsense), but the adaptive triggers basically act as 2 buttons each. Most of the weapons provide 2 modes, like press the trigger halfway for a single shot or press it fully to switch to continuous fire. Input latency is also low. The 3D Audio effect is pretty neat, too, especially with headphones.

    The story isn't anything sophisticated. Just like previous games, it's merely an excuse to zap enemy robots with exotic weaponry. But the concept of the dimension hopping is well-realized by centering the plot around the dimensionator weapon shown in the trailers. You've probably heard it already, so here it is. With dimension hopping you get to meet alternate versions of the established characters. Rivet is a good new character, but she replaces Ratchet as lead character for most of the game's duration.

    One little complaint that I have about this game is the bugs. The game doesn't crash, nor is my character launched into space. Some times when speeding up with the rocket boots through a level I get stack as if I was hitting an invisible wall when it shouldn't happen, easily solved with a simple jump. Other times I have encountered mission progression bugs (mostly on Clank's dimension puzzle levels when swapping spheres), which is easily fixed with a checkpoint restart. Last but not least, although this game has plenty of quality, I wish it had a bit more content or a lower price. At $70/80 Euros this game costs a bit too much money.

    Overall Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a technical showcase for the PS5. Developers Insomniac Games are easily my favorite Sony studio after releasing multiple quality games within 3 years (Spiderman, Spiderman Remastered, Miles Morales, now Rift Apart). Can't wait for their next game.    … Expand

    This is a beautiful game that runs very nicely and shows you just how much the ps5 can do.

Such an amazing game, I platinumed it three days ago, and I keep thinking about going back and replaying it again and again, I never felt that way before, and its such a beautiful game, probably the most beautiful on PS5 so far, the ray-tracing is spectacular, voice acting and animations are superb, and combat and weapons are incredibly fun.

    The only reason I didn't score this at 10 are because of these slight gripes I had with the game:

    - Enemies are not varied enough, mostly same robots (they're more varied later on, but look essentially the same) and Thugs-4-Less guys from beginning of game, mini-bosses also get repeated a bunch with no difference (juggernauts) or minimal difference like the pirate juggernauts but they have too similar of move sets (stomp then beam, rinse and repeat).

    - Omega weapons were disappointing, thought there would be a big difference between level 5 and Omega, but the difference is just in power, no cool effects added as far as I know.

    - Protagonists repeat dialogue too often, I don't need to have Clank and Rivet say the same story lines over and over again just because I temporarily exit and come back to a place when its needed, like in Arena (from Arena to vendor and back), and I don't need Clank or Ratchet to constantly remind me that I got to go to the mission points when I just want to explore first, it gets annoying.

    - UI and game explanations need slight improvement, like show that you can buy all upgrades for a weapon by pressing triangle from the weapon selection menu of Upgrades, and it should be explained that the more damage you do with a weapon, the faster it levels (tested with Ice and Topiary).

    This is definitely the best Ratchet and Clank game though, and I absolutely loved jetting around with the jet boots, I really hope they're in the next installment, and I can't wait for more!    … Expand

    The dual sense also feels amazing with Rift Apart where they take full advantage of the haptic feedback and vibration. Pulling the trigger will have 2 modes, halfway which gives you the normal effect of the gun and then when you fully pull down the trigger to use the guns full power.

    Rachet and clank Rift Apart truly shows the potential and extent Insomniac takes to create a incredible game. Rift Apart is a must play on the PS5 to see the power and potential of the next generation consoles!    … Expand

    This is the best in the series to date and being exclusive to playstation shows how well they are doing with their own game studios. This game takes full advantage of the ps5! No loading times, beautiful graphic inputs with 4k 60 fps or you can do raytracing which looks absolutely amazing. This is a must own for the next gen and could potentially be a game of the year contender.

    Le jeu est parfait, rien à dire de négatif dessus. Les combats sont ultra fluide, les commandes sont facile à apprendre, le chargement est instantané donc pas d'attente. J'aime bien que les doublure française soient les mêmes que le film sortie il ya pas longtemps. Le seul point négatif n'est pas si grave et est que si tu essaies de prendre un raccourci mais qu'il y ai un genre de murLe jeu est parfait, rien à dire de négatif dessus. Все функции Dualsense естт. Но есть один минус - это сюжет. Он детский, но посуте игра и создавалась для детей. И ещё не понятно будет ли продолжение.     Después de pasar varias horas jugando, la conclusión respecto al juego es simple, es casi perfecto. El juego es un portento gráfico en su ámbito, la jugabilidad es fluida y divertida, los tiempos de carga son nulos y se alza por encima de muchos juegos en la actualidad. Sin duda un imperdible para los que si aman los videojuegos.

    Great game, and to this day I have not seen another that looks as good as this one, the visuals are impressive, it is my first ratchet game and perhaps that is why it has been of great pleasure to me for its good gameplay, story. I highly recommend a masterpiece.

    I had just played Ratchet & Clank 2016, and it was great, a week later, I played this game, and... Wow! I really didn't think they could upgrade that game on so many levels. It really looked unique. Immersive settings, explosive combat and shooting ( I can't stress this part enough!), and enjoyable progression system. Add to all that, fantastic character buildings and dramatic cutscenesI had just played Ratchet & Clank 2016, and it was great, a week later, I played this game, and... Wow! I really didn't think they could upgrade that game on so many levels. It really looked unique. Immersive settings, explosive combat and shooting ( I can't stress this part enough!), and enjoyable progression system. Add to all that, fantastic character buildings and dramatic cutscenes unlike any other R&C game, May I dare to say any game in this genre.

The game utilizes the SSD capabilities for new capabilities for example you go through an interdimensional gate there are no loading times at all and the transition is immediate and does not impair the flow of the game, and the graphics wow !!!!! This game is one of the most beautiful games I have seen in my life, amazing that we were able to get to the graphics levels of a Pixar movie and it is just amazing. The gameplay in the game is very fun and identical to the gameplay of the previous game in the series "Ratchet & Clank" which came out in 2016 with new additions that I will let you experience for yourself. The story in the game is just great and it manages to convey it to us in an interesting funny and fun way I will not give spoilers to the plot so as not to ruin your experience. Ratchet & Clank is an excellent simple game and I recommend to anyone who buys a PlayStation 5 and wants a game that will show him the next generation of games to buy this game because it will really provide you with what you are looking for.… Expand

    Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is a must buy for any PS5 owner, any diehard R&C fan will instantly fall in love with this game and any first time players of the franchise will instantly come to love the incredible gameplay that R&C is known for, as well as it's incredible cast of characters from around the solar system!

    This game is amazing. No other game offers as many weapons as this one and that makes combat extremely fun. It also uses all the features of the dualsense which makes the game more immersive, it’s incredible. Additionally, this game has an entertaining story with great voice acting which makes the characters likable. The animations are great along with the performance and graphics.This game is amazing.     The game is short, around 10 hours but I enjoy it more than longer games with boring side quests like Witcher 3 or Assassin’s creed. Definitely needs more boss battles and variety in enemies. It’s not challenging enough for experienced players.    … Expand

    After completing the game, I have so many different feelings: the story was amazing, the details & graphics were astonishing, the introduction of Rivet & Kit and the switching gameplay from one character to another made the game awesome and fun to play! Loved the cinematics too, really felt like you were playing in a movie and you lived like the character.

    I know for a fact Jim Ryan put in some overtime coding this one because Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is one of the greatest looking games of all time and is a true technical achievement. To think this is only the beginning of the generation! At its core, this game is still the absolute blast that us Ratchet and Clank fans are accustom to. Wacky weapons, spectacular set pieces and planets,I know for a fact Jim Ryan put in some overtime coding this one because Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is one of the greatest looking games of all time and is a true technical achievement. To think this is only the beginning of the generation! At its core, this game is still the absolute blast that us Ratchet and Clank fans are accustom to.     Great game. Plays fun and fluid. Really shows the power of the PS5. The new haptic feedback really gives a new dimension for this game. It also can run 40fps quality mode in the 120hz mode, which is really amazing! Hope more games will follow that direction! Enjoyed every minute of this game

    Go for it ! The Game is a complete blast to play from start to end. Eye catching visuals and totally enjoyable game-play. I wish they have named it Ratchet & Rivet instead, because its Rivet that gets more screen presence among all the characters. I definitely had loads of fun playing it ! Worthy addition to PS5 exclusives.

The details on Ratchet’s face are mind blowing.

    Gameplay : this is a big one. The game blends melee combat, shooting (with many, fun and varied weapons), platforming (classic platforming, swinging, rail surfing, wall running, racing, flying, even catapulting), exploration, puzzle solving and even beat em up sections. Also, the photo mode is insane. I keep taking pictures left and right. The game is relatively short but you have quite a lot of collectibles to find and make you busy without being overwhelming. And it’s definitely a game that screams for a second playthrough.

    Characters and story : of course the story is not as deep and complex as The Witcher 3 or Naughty Dog games for example, but it is great for what it is. The characters are fun and adorable, even the baddies, Ratchet is a great hero, the ennemies are fun and diverse, the atmosphere is awesome. I also love the humour in the game.

    Technical innovation : this game could totally be marketed as a PS5 tech demo. It uses the Dual Sense controller perfectly and it makes the game very immersive. Also, the SSD is used to perfection and allows new gameplay possibilities like teleporting instantly inside of a map, which is very impressive and makes the experience truly next gen.

    In conclusion, this will probably be my game of the year. Can’t recommand it enough. Bravo Insomniac, can’t wait for a sequel !    … Expand

    Spectacular game that really showcases the PS5 and DualSense and is just tons of fun to play. The visuals are stunning, the gameplay is smooth as butter, there's a huge variety of weapons, and the pacing is damn near perfect. My only complaints are the very low difficulty (I don't play a lot of shooters and I had to adjust the difficulty to "Very Hard" over the course of the game to getSpectacular game that really showcases the PS5 and DualSense and is just tons of fun to play. The visuals are stunning, the gameplay is smooth as butter, there's a huge variety of weapons, and the pacing is damn near perfect. My only complaints are the very low difficulty (I don't play a lot of shooters and I had to adjust the difficulty to "Very Hard" over the course of the game to get even a slight sense of challenge), some minor control quirks (e.g. being unable to switch off the hover boots mid-jump), the lack of enemy variety and memorable stand-out boss fights, and the servicable, but somewhat forgettable soundtrack.

    Also, for the fans of the explorers in games like me, I must say that it felt way more open to exploring and I loved that. But, this created another problem as well: Some bugs with textures, which are minor per se, but they is a fair amount of them. Bus don't appear only on exploring, but you experience them while playing in general. But, nothing is game breaking, and they are extremely minor in a sense where you don't mind at all.

    As of the story, it's simple and nothing special, but it's charming with some funny moments and characters.

    Another thing I want to point out specifically, because I found it as an amazing addition, are the mods and cosmetics Insomniac added if you collect side items making them way more important than just to 100%.

    First thing I noticed was the graphics. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart looks crisp and clean, like an animation movie. The game also runs nicely, although I ran some major bugs and game-breaking glitches along the way. It annoyed me surely, when I had to start a boss battle all over again or redo some 5 minute gameplaying.

    The gameplay was OK, but it felt little bit dated. It was very much like the previous title Ratchet & Clank (2016) and I wanted something new. The game had new variations of weapons which felt kind of an overkill. I soon realized all the weapons were made to make the replaying more fun. All the weapons were updgradeable and it takes many replayings to fully upgrade all of them.

    The controls felt good. I mean felt because of the DualSense controller and its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This is thing that is hard to explain, it need to be experienced.

    The plot was rather simple and straightforward; Doctor Nefarious (an evil enemy from previous games) steals Dimensionator, which breaks and cracks the dimensions. Ratchet and Clank goes after him to get it back. As the other dimensions are now available to travel, another character called Rivet joins to the mission.

    SOME TRUE PS5 POWERS
    What makes Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart amazing is the PS5’s super fast SSD, that can load the game in blink of an eye. There’s no loading screens, which feels odd as I’m not used to that. Other amazing feature is the 3D audio which can be enjoyed with any headphones. I played this with heaphones attached to the controller and the audio was cinema-quality.

    THE LAST WORDS
    Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is (in my opinion) the first true 100% PS5 game, because it uses all the power of PS5, 3D audio and all aspects of DualSense controller. There’s not much else I can say about this game other than it is must play if you own the PS5 console.    … Expand

    Best ratchet and clank I've played since going commando. There are giant levels and tons of unlocks, good story and clever weapon design. I can understand after playing why it's a ps5 exclusive. Only negative reviews are xbox fans. I do feel sorry for them on this one. Ratchet and clank FTW

    Easily the best Ratchet and Clank game since the original trilogy. Gorgeous, Pixar level graphics. Fun weapons with some new ones and bringing back some classic weapons. Fantastic levels with some new ideas which they nailed. Geez, even the Clank levels are fun for once.

    Level Design;
    RIft apart has one of the best level design in any game. The level designs are so deep that even the objects that are so far away feel lively and convincing enough that their existence isn't merely a to fill the 3d space. Right from the city to grasslands to the pub, I was stunned by how well designed the level and how deep the subtle things in the level are. Ex: In the gastro pub, a waitress goes to each table to get the order, people are drinking, some are dancing, bartender even mixes the cocktail, you can feel the musical vibrations if you go closer to the music etc.

    Dialogue delivery: This is exactly why I like Insomniac games and what I missed in Spider man games. After playing Sunset Overdrive, this is the game where they revived the wittiness of what Insomniac games are made of, their subtle take on capitalism got my attention!

    Game length: I know this is controversial topic but I think the game length is okay. At least for me, personally, as I don't have time to play hours and hours anymore. Moreover, I honestly feel it's better to make a great game even if it's shorter than make a lengthy one with too much grind and repetitiveness.

    Narration: The characters portray emotions well and doesn't feel superficial. invoking empathy in games isn't common and I was pleasantly surprised to see Rift Apart acing this aspect of the game.

    Overall, I can go on talking about other stuff like funny weapons, humorous bosses, weird enemies who ask for a raise in their pay, insane loading times which are non existent, haptic feedback as good as Astro's playroom etc. This game is a masterpiece. Period.    … Expand

    The first game in history to properly take use of SSD-speeds and it shows. Game is graphically amazing and zero loading helps the game feel great. U also have 3 modes (Ray-tracing, performance & performance ray-tracing) Everything feels smooth. Day one must play.

    Tons of fun for hours and hours. So sad it's been such a long time since last time a new ratchet and clank rolled up. I really enjoyed the new graphics and smoothness of the action. Storywise also very nice. Totally recommend to everyone

    This game is a wonderful delight for every age! Took me about 25 hours to 100% complete it with Platinum and the NG+ offers some more progression which adds to the replay value. Graphics are incredible Pixar movie like quality and performance is stable too with no crashes at all. This is how a game should be released these days!     Overall excellent game. Rivet and Kit are great additions to the universe, and the multitude of worlds/dimensions are very fun to explore. Not overly difficult and not too long, but always keeps you engaged and having fun. Highly recommend.

    Great story, insane graphics and fun gameplay. If you get a ps5 you must play this. However, of you focus on npcs, you will cringe. They like dab and do weird stuff. But still great and comparable to Astro bot if you like that.

    The experience is so captivating, you’ll probably want to blast through the entire 10-15 hour story in one go. But the final is really disappointing: basically, the entire game is just a warm-up, while the important events will happen in the next one. [Issue#254, p.36]
