    Maybe the best Ratchet yet, feels amazing, looks amazing, a great diverse of characters, monumental discoveries that willhave hug eimpact for the franchise going forward. The dimensional shifts wer eused very well in my opinion, setpieces amazing, animatiosn asburd. If you own a PS5 YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME.

    This is truly a next gen, from the graphics to the no loading between levels and switching between maps while playing. The only little nitpick is for me is some action you need to do are sometimes not very clear and a indicator that an enemy is behind me would have been nice, but this is just nitpicking. Thnx Insomniac for making very good games

    Its a rare occasion, but im grateful to report R&C rift apart really is a perfect 10. Having only played the previous title on ps4, my expectations for story and gameplay weren't astronomical but since sonys 2020 preview, I knew it would use the ps5 hardware better as a platform exclusive (an approach sorely missing from other devs at the time of writing this in 2021!) . The surprise hasIts a rare occasion, but im grateful to report R&C rift apart really is a perfect 10.     Proper next gen title... and then some. Probably the best R&C game ever and one of the best games of the year. Insomnicac did an immense job with this title and the only bad thing about it is that a game this good and polished takes A LOT of time.Can't wait fo the next one!!!

    Best graphics this generation. Amazing art style and character designs. Extremely fun gameplay loop with very original weapons. Rivet is just a lovely character and very charismatic . Dualsense integration is top notch. Truly a ps5 killer app

    It's a must play game the graphics are amazing the story the world the characters and everything in between is above and beyond the only thing that i didn't like is that there's not much enemy variety but it's not a big issue because the game is short

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played It 4 times since launch, and after hours i can say this game its one Of the best Game Insomniac give us. Incredible and new weapons, charming characters (Rivet and Kit are awesome), spectacular worlds and effects... I can only say good things about this game. The only "issue" i found its that the RYNO feels a bit unpowered, if u put the Game with RPG option to see numbers Of the damage from our weapons sometimes other weapons deal more damage than the RYNO, but Its still powefull, and the OST its amazing too… Expand

    High octane action, amazing voice acting, touching story, and beautiful graphics (just eye candy for you to watch). You can feel the passion that the developers put into this game. The only complaint I have is the lack of enemy and boss variety. You must play this if you have a Ps5. Worth the 70$ for the replayability. I feel bad for people who haven't gotten a Ps5 yet.

The most memorable one by far is the Ryno 8: the fact that it can create a portal and send items from other Sony IPs into the Rift Apart world is super creative and imaginative. Definitely an A in that regard.


    Rivet is another great addition to the series as well. She has an enthusiastic personality and a nice change of scenery from playing as the regulars all the time.

    Last but not least are the graphics. Oh my God are they fantastic. From the beautiful scenery and lush particle effects, to the ray traced character designs and gorgeous flora and fauna. R&C Rift Apart is a beautiful display for the next generation of gaming and an exciting start for what's to come. A great future is ahead!    … Expand

    I didn't even realize how smoothly I was going from one world/dimension to the next until I was about 2/3 of the way through. The weapons have just the right amount of weight and the use of the DualSense is beyond    A perfect Ratchet and Clank title.     This is the closest to cinema quality I have seen. There is no line between cuts and gameplay. The haptic on the controller and the triggers is great. This is the first time playing a game I am not thinking about the next graphics card or console and what could be next.     I'm going to start this off by saying if you happen be lucky enough to own a PlayStation 5 this game MUST be on top of your list of games you MUST play. The story with the wonderful characters are just AMAZING and made me just laugh and smile but somtimes cringe at moments.     THE GOOD:
    and this section is going to be the longest so stay tuned...
    This game with its visuals is something really earth shaking and the people behind insomniacs animation teams and graphics engine are truly magicians! If there is one thing i need to understand is how insomniac games managed to deliver Spiderman miles morals as cross gen and Spiderman remasterd and ratchet and clank rift apart all within less than a year!? achieving technical aspects in visuals and graphics like never before and taking full advantage of the ps5 hardware, with faster loading times and the whole rifts and dimensions stuff is something unbelievable! and i dont think that even third party games will make anything similar to this game or something that will take advantage of the ps5 hardware like first party games do. And a quick mention to the graphics modes like performance rt and performance mode are great but i preferred fidelity mode for that sharp image and effects and i am ok with that 30 fps that on a screen like mine its hard to notice. i am truly a fan boy of insomniac games!
    Gameplay wise well, i have been playing ratchet and clank since day 1 on the ps2 as a kid who just moved into underwear from diapers. I have played almost every ratchet and clank out there and rift apart is the most ambitious one of the bunch out there delivering things the title hasnt seen before like the shadow dash as well as new weapons, But in big its just like its always been but improved with a much smoother gameplay rather than arcady or clunky and it is just right here.
    Sound design and soundtrack and music is unbelievable! If you have 3D audio headset or the ps5 pulse 3d you are in for a blast of a sound!!! This game really does deliver audio that i dont think even returnal has managed to deliver. Its a joy to listen to this game even if youre just standing somewhere not doing anything it really feels like youre in that universe.
    Presentation wise and world and attention to detail and the rifts are such a game changer! Thank to the ps5's hardware i dont think pc's will get to the level of releasing games in this level anytime soon. The attention to detail and animation and level design is something that makes you really fall in love with this game. World and map are made on point! and so much work has been put into them!
    And characters wise its so hard to talk about cuz i just love every one of those characters and my gosh this game is really something! by the end i clapped my hands with a smile and was so happy for the experience of this game and i cant wait for a sequel! All the characters are well acted and designed and made in such a fashion that even the new characters introduced into the series are characters i fell in love with!

    THE BAD:
    As a vet of the series i gotta admit. There is nothing to do after you finish the game and collect all the collectibles which are easy to find. The worlds are small yet detailed but they get really boring after you finish the missions within them. And the glitch missions are annoying! Like honestly i was so glad i finished with her, It was pointless and short and really didnt feel necessary. Clank puzzles are the worst they have ever been in the series! They are extremely easy and all of them are literally the same!!! I would really want to see in the future, more of secret agent clank missions and other activities like racing or collecting the captain quark cartages and playing the mini games or exploring more of the world and doing more activities rather than just collecting and doing main quests in the world. The universe of this game feels empty compared to other previous titles. And the game had issues like showing objective icons and having a few bugs like where npc's would run away from me but they werent game breaking and easily fixed with a reload.

    OVERALL
    I love this game and if you read the good and bad you know why this game is an 8 for me and with a lot of love! I truly want to see more of the series and sadly we didnt get that big ratchet and clank game just yet. Its a great way to show off the ps5 capabilities but i feel like all the focus of this game was on that rather than the actual game as a whole. After 2 playthroughs (the game is short) i think im done with this game, i have no interest going back into it anymore as much as i did when i played the 3rd game on the ps2. Was a hell of an experience but made me want more.    … Expand

    Insomniac Games, in my opinion, is now the best game studio in the industry. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is truly a masterpiece. While playing, I had a feeling I am in a Pixar movie… the graphics are mind blowing, the characters are memorable and amusing, almost real…and from the very beginning you just start thinking of them as of your old friends. The plot is stunning.. I am justInsomniac Games, in my opinion, is now the best game studio in the industry. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is truly a masterpiece.     This is the best game to be released this year point blank period. As this is my first Ratchet and Clank game my expectations were kinda low. But after playing this game I have this feeling of going back and beating the other games. I played in fidelity mode simply because I wanted to the 4k resolution.     Now when it comes to the upgrade system I was shocked at how many upgrades and guns there were in the game. As soon as I thought this is the final gun the game would DJ Khaled me and give me anotha one. Each gun for diverse and unique. I maxed every gun out and did not stick to a single one. This made the game feel new and fresh every hour or so.

    I played on the hardest difficulty and if you are a glutton for punishment this game is very hard on the hardest. Enemies attack none stop you take a lot of damage. 3-4 hits can kill you or if its a strong enemy 2-3 hits. It really pushes you to learn all the game mechanics and use the most advance mechanics along with utilizing every gun. Because on the hardest difficulty you will run out of ammo fast because the enemies soak up damage. All in all it was fun and challenging but nowhere near a dark souls or returnal.

    The gameplay itself is smooth and very responsive. There is never a dull moment from combat, to traversal, to mini games, to exploring. Everything in this game is top notch and amazing. The big action set pieces left my job dropped sometimes and had me jumping for joy.

    Honestly if you have never played a Ratchet and Clank pick it up it is amazing. And if I loved this game I know the die hard fans will be salivating at this game. I give ratchet 10 gold bolts out of 10.    … Expand

There is a certain point at the start of the game where a very high quality cutscene plays, and it seamlessly transitions into the gameplay. Very impactful scene in terms of the technology. It feels like you’re controlling a beautiful Pixar game. The graphics really blew me away. As far as some criticisms: the game feels pretty linear, the game is relatively short, it has a lot of minor glitches, and it’s incredibly easy (I recommend starting off on a higher difficulty). I think it’s biggest downfall is that once you beat it and platinum it, there’s very little reason to ever return to it. But the experience is absolutely a memorable one, the game ended and I had a big smile on my face.… Expand

    I went into this game not fully knowing what to expect. I'm not really big on jump n' run games. But something about Rift Apart just intrigued me.

    I mean I was desperate for a new fresh single-player experience. But that usually doesn't mean that I would go out of my way and spend 80€ on a genre I'm not really fond of, just to experience something new. The things that caught my    I went into this game not fully knowing what to expect. I'm not really big on jump n' run games. But something about Rift Apart just intrigued me.

    I mean I was desperate for a new fresh single-player experience. But that usually doesn't mean that I would go out of my way and spend 80€ on a genre I'm not really fond of, just to experience something new.

    The things that caught my interest right of the bat when I saw the Reveal and the State of Play, was the interesting usage of the Playstation 5's SSD capabilities and the gorgeous graphics.

    I still wasn*t sure if it was worth taking the risk to spend 80€ on a game that I usually would avoid.

    But in the end, I did... And what can I say except... wow.

    This game is an absolute masterpiece from a technical standpoint.

    Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart does not only look absolutely gorgeous but it also has that incredible polish to it that you would expect from a first-party sony and insomniac game.

    The overall gameplay and the combat is pretty much flawless. The combat is fluid. It offers a lot of variety in movement and action. The movement rewards quick response time and decision-making which is definitely needed at times when you play on the highest difficulty.

    I didn't expect the game to be this much of a challenge. It isn't comparable to other games that are known for their harder difficulties but that isn't what this game is about and I personally really enjoyed the difficulty balancing.

    I haven't even come around to test all of the weapons. So there is enough variety to keep it fresh throughout the playthrough.

    The graphics are definitely one of the key selling points. The game not only looks and sounds stunning but it also feels like it. The world-building in most of the planets was simply breathtaking.

    Insomniac once again brought their A-Game and managed to bring out a 60FPS mode that also includes Ray-Tracing without sacrificing much of the visual quality except resolution.

    I never played a Ratchet and Clank game before so I wasn't at all familiar with any of the characters. But man.. You just immediately love all of them. Each of the characters is just filled with charm and love.

    Creating a game where you play as 2 characters can often be very divisive. But in Rift Apart's case, it worked beautifully. Rivet is such a fun and likable character. I might have enjoyed playing her more than Ratchet. But both are just awesome. Dr.Nefarious and Pierre are some stand-out side characters to me.

    Story-wise the game achieved what it tried to achieve. It's not a deep immersive character study with bolt and realistic themes. Those kinds of themes are what I usually look for when I pick out singleplayer games. I still very much enjoyed the story even though it is the polar opposite of what I usually play.

    The game is pretty much a flawless experience. The only thing I might have wished for is a tiny bit more enemy variety since they did kind of became a little repetitive throughout the story (especially the bosses).

    I'm all for quality over quantity obviously. I would rather play this than another Assasin's Creed that goes on for 100 hours with bland repetitive gameplay. That being said I still would have wished for at least a few more story hours. The games quality 100% deserves it's full 80€ price tag. But a 10-hour story campaign is definitely a bit short for that price.    … Expand

    Nunca había jugado a un Ratchet y no podía haber cogido mejor título. Qué maravilla. El doblaje al castellano es maravilloso, los gráficos son como ver una película de animación renderizada en tiempo real, a nivel de jugabilidad puedes hacer de todo es un constante frenetismo, muchas opciones de armas, muchos escenarios, el juego es muy dinámico y te sorprende constantemente. La historiaNunca había jugado a un Ratchet y no podía haber cogido mejor título. Qué maravilla. El doblaje al castellano es maravilloso, los gráficos son como ver una película de animación renderizada en tiempo real, a nivel de jugabilidad puedes hacer de todo es un constante frenetismo, muchas opciones de armas, muchos escenarios, el juego es muy dinámico y te sorprende constantemente. La historia esta graciosa, es entretenida no disgusta. A mi me ha durado casi 10 horas (marca 9 la Playstation pero es un poco más porque sólo registra de hora en hora) y yo soy el típico que va directo en la historia y no se desvía, si exploras y te sales de la historia principal cuando se te dan las opciones el juego seguro se alarga.     * The Fidelity graphics mode is unplayable and so sluggish it makes my eyes bleed. In a fast paced action game like this, I don't expect anyone will actually play with this mode. I played using Performance RT with the downside that it's very noticable that the resolution is dynamically lowered in some areas, as there is significant aliasing in some locations, specifically in the mining colony area.
    * Ratchet and Rivet only differs in visuals. Would have been more interesting if they had unique abilities.
    * The difficulty is poorly balanced. The hardest one is just unfair while the second to hardest is very easy. Considering there are 5 difficulties, they could have done a better job with balancing them.
    * The game is too short. Paying $80 for a game that can be compelted in 10 hours is just meh, combined with that it has little to no replay value as you can unluck everything in your first playthough.
    * Crashes and bugs. I had 3 crashes in my playthrough. Once I got stuck in geometry forcing me to restart. Once I got stuck in a weapon video which forced me to restart, and every now and then the reflections in helmets etc bork out, producing black flickering squares.

    Verdict:

    Definitely a must have for anyone with a PS5. The game is very good, but I had expected more. If you're not a huge fan of the series, you might want to wait until it's on sale, as the value for money is quite low consdering you can pay $50 for games that gives you 50+h worth of playtime.    … Expand

    I loved this game. I first bought this game to be played by my daughter but then I started playing and I couldn't stop anymore. It is a game to have fun and enjoy the amazing graphics.

El juego es un portento gráfico en su ámbito, la jugabilidad es fluida y divertida, los tiempos de carga son nulos y se alza por encima de muchos juegos en la actualidad.     This is THE best looking game to date. With one of the best implementations for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It's more fun than any Ratchet and Clank game I've ever played and it's very addictive so far. I just wish they made each enemy unique where you have to use a certain gun on them. That would've been way better.

    Fantastic game that is probably the best looking game ever released. If you're a fan of previous R&C games you'll feel right at home. The gameplay is very similar to the previous games which is not a bad thing. Lots of guns, enemies, and amazing set pieces. Highly recommended for PS5 owners.

    - Gameplay is varied and consistently entertaining. There's a good mix of combat and puzzles and the mix of linear levels vs open-areas keeps things fresh.
    - Improved traversal and mobility (with one exception).
    - Great arsenal of unique weapons.
    - Collectibles that are actually worth collecting.
    - Dualsense implementation was excellent. And not just for weaponry. You can actually feel the footsteps of your character and the bass of certain pieces of music in your controller.
    - Fantastic music. From the overall score to a techno remix of the old sea shanty 'drunken sailor'. The music really helps to create the right atmosphere.
    - A good length. Not bloated and doesn't overstay its welcome.

    Cons:
    - The usual 'just released' game bugs.
    - Removal of climbing makes traversal frustrating at times. And seems at odds with the many improvements made to mobility.
    - Could do with more unique bosses.
    - Edges and textures (Ratchet/Rivet's fur in particular) can occasionally look pixelated. Although, I'm not entirely certain whether this is a fault of the game itself or my settings.

    Overall, I'm giving the game a 10/10. Are there some flaws? Yes, but the game has been such a joy to play that I don't really want to knock any points off that score. Insomniac have absolutely blown it out of the park.    … Expand

    Great game, shows the power of the PS5. Worth that $70. I am playing the performance ray tracing mode on a LG CX , it’s beautiful. The gameplay is solid, the cut scene integration with gameplay is amazing.

    One of the first real reasons to buy PS5. This intergalactic adventure of famous series is full of great gameplay, inventive game design, gripping story, and great characters. It's a game for everyone who owns PS5. Actually, it’s a game for everyone.

    What’s so good about this installment of Ratchet and Clank is that it is a true labor of love. There is no other way a game can feel so good, play so well, and take you on an impressive adventure all without that special ingredient to keep it going. The definition of a next-gen title, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a must-play that will leave you super satisfied and hungry for another big game like this one.

    The experience is so captivating, you’ll probably want to blast through the entire 10-15 hour story in one go. But the final is really disappointing: basically, the entire game is just a warm-up, while the important events will happen in the next one. [Issue#254, p.36]
