    This is a great game. Not just a great next gen game, but a great game all around. This is not my favorite ratchet and clank (I think some of the humor of the past wasn't all there), but this is definitely up there. I definitely recommend it if you have a ps5.

    Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is only the second game from the entire franchise that I have ever played. I got the 2016 reboot from the PS+ collection about a month ago to see if I enjoyed it, which I did. But this game, this game is something special. Demons Souls is the only other true PS5 game that I have played as of now, and I can say without a doubt that Rift Apart is the best lookingRatchet and Clank Rift Apart is only the second game from the entire franchise that I have ever played. Demons Souls is the only other true PS5 game that I have played as of now, and I can say without a doubt that Rift Apart is the best looking video game I've ever played in my life. It literally looks like a modern day Pixar film. And the way it plays is truly something that I believe every gamer needs to experience. The level design, verticality, and seemingly endless fun weapons all combine to create something new and fresh. The amount of times that I have stopped because I thought it was mid-cutscene just to realize that there was no cutscene is incredible. The only downside is that it isn't that long of a game, but I personally prefer quality over quantity. Also, if you truly explore the beautifully designed areas, look for collectibles, and do the optional side missions, this game can definitely take you well into the 25+ hours mark. There is also an NG+ mode for people looking for an even tougher challenge. As someone who never really dived deep into the Ratchet and Clank series, I can firmly say that this game is a true masterpiece that should be experienced by every gamer that owns a PS5.… Expand

    Insomniac have done it again! They have crafted another amazing adventure in the franchise! The game is funny and the combat is really enjoyable! I love it so much that I am already replaying it. If you have or are waiting to get a ps5, get this game immediately I can highly recommend it. One of my top favourite Ratchet & Clank games.

    I have experienced four soft crashes, one hard crash, and have fallen through the map geometry on five separate occasions. The gameplay itself is good, though the gun variety is nothing revolutionary for the series. Given the short length of the game, the price, and the serious bugs that are present, I cannot recommend this game until it's on sale or receives major patches to improve stability.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a solid entry in the ratchet and clank franchise and easily deserving of its scores from critics and gamers alike. It's not often you see such high praises from the user scores opposed to the critics. It falls on the short side for length with a far to easy platinum that can be achieved in just one playthrough. The graphics are possibly the best to date with in game Pixar like quality. The story is told well and in true ratchet and clank style gives you some freedom to travel to planets in differing orders. Rivet is a great new protagonist and really steals the show in this game. Which surprisingly is fine. Insomniac really did an amazing job at introducing the character. Rivets voice acting was extremely well done and shined brighter than ratchets newly found tame undertones In his writing and range. Some very minor glitches are to be found. More than a typical Sony exclusive which Im sure will be fixed in future updates. Overall an amazing game… Expand

    A true next gen game with next gen graphics and no loading af Extreme streaming of assets/levels

    Also a very good story, good combat and very likeable caracters. Rivet is a nice addition.

    Generic Buggy, short..If all you need is pretty graphics then this game has you covered. If younlike variety , inovation or origonality look elseware. Dont mind sequels not inovating , but this is like the 8th game with nothing new. Also got heap of crashes , invisible walls , cliping and popin..

    Absolutely incredible and a joy to play through! However like every R&C game my only criticism is that there's juet not enough of it (e.g. i wish the arena here had more levels and modes to play through, much like the arena of R&C3).     This is one of the best ps5 games released till now. The graphic is one of the bests and the two main features (ssd and dualsense) are used in a very fun way.     the world building is soooo good you can just stop and look around you and see rifts opening and closing and so much stuff going in the background

    the game is very cinematic for better or worse they took the idea they did with spider man ps4 where you look at a cutscenes most of the time and after it smooths you in to the gameplay in ratchet and clank it is cool and fun at the beginning but later it just becomes tedious

    the weapons have so much verity and are so much fun there are some lazy designs but overall it is a blast to blast those weapons'

    cons:

    although the gameplay does feel like the og ratchet and clank games the writing is just trash the game just felt like a very toned down and predictable Disney movie i just feel like ratchet and clank writing just lost its edge

    rivet is a fun character and even though she's not yelling how woman are the superior being and all that sjw bull she barely gets any back story or any explanation about her out shines ratchet at his own game and felt like a very rushed character for the sake of introducing a female lead

    there are barely any sides quests and when there are some its just go collect 60 orbs or 50 stones i mean really ? no side quests in a ratchet and clank game that's just lazy

    the game is 11 hours long and i went back to collect some stuff and i did every puzzle and just 11 hours really ?!?!?! at the end i felt like they went all tech demo on us and the game was more look how the ps5 is a good console than look at our new cool game

    in conclusion ratchet and clank felt like a beautiful over glorified tech demo it is good in term of gameplay but falls short in so many other areas the game is fun and cool but i will only recommend it if there will be a discount1 at full price its just nah so my final score to ratchet and clank is a 8 out of 10    … Expand

I've heard some people say this game is too short but tbh, I didn't feel as if that was the case at all. While there may only technically be 9 planets, they have a lot to explore, unlike the previous titles.     Just finished the game. What a ride! The story isn't anything profound, but it is certainly entertaining. The guns all felt great, thanks in part to the satisfying use of the haptic triggers. Locomotion feels really tight and quick, plus it's great always having the hoverboots. The graphics are 10 steps above any previous R&C game, making effective use of ray tracing tech. Not gonna lie,Just finished the game. What a ride! The story isn't anything profound, but it is certainly entertaining. The guns all felt great, thanks in part to the satisfying use of the haptic triggers. Locomotion feels really tight and quick, plus it's great always having the hoverboots. The graphics are 10 steps above any previous R&C game, making effective use of ray tracing tech.     An excellent Ratchet game, easily one of the best in years. Old school fans, like myself, will take problem with the extreme kid-centric nature of the game's writing. Many characters go through personal troubles in a very teenage-angst kind of "oh gosh oh gee I just don't know if I can do it" kind of way" which can, very often, outstay its welcome. The humour of the originals won't beAn excellent Ratchet game, easily one of the best in years. Old school fans, like myself, will take problem with the extreme kid-centric nature of the game's writing. But the game exudes so much charm, endless detail and love for the franchise and the pastime of videogames itself that it can coast on that alone. Although I really do wish they would return to the dry wit of my childhood.

    The presentation is incredible, the gameplay is easily the best it's ever been and it made me excited for the genre of video games itself. It actually made me feel (a bit) like a kid game. Highly recommended.    … Expand

    Loved every minute of it!!! This definitely makes up for the lack luster of the 2016 game. Love the gameplay, loved the mechanics, loved the story!!! Can't wait to see what they have in store next for the 2 duo's. I hope they finally explore the Lombax society.

    A very pleasant game in terms of storyline and setting. Beautiful picture and effects. Very nice and fast gameplay. I really liked the new characters! It's a shame that there are no more board races. Glitchka's character beams viruses through a shooter, in a game that is already a shooter, it's not great. I would like a puzzle.     This gem of a game cleary shows off the power of the ps5, it's SSD, the duelsense features and is a great time for gamers of all ages. I'd highly recommend it, even if you have not played any ratchet and clank games before.

The main reason people enjoy Ratchet & Clank games is obviously the gameplay but in this instance, Insomniac Games has surprised many people (including myself) with a thorough and detailed story that is not seen in many Ratchet & Clank games. Without spoiling the story, the game focuses a lot on mental health and how to deal with your emotions and no, it doesn’t come across as forced or fake at all - I would actually say it’s the complete opposite and comes across to the player as very authentic which many games struggle with and ultimately loses the connection with the player. The gameplay is very well refined and overall is a improvement on previous entries, however I feel like it does get slightly repetitive in the last few hours of the game. Most games in this genre do struggle with similar issues which is understandable. I encountered very few bugs/glitches in the game and when I did all I had to do was restart from my previous checkpoint if my character got stuck and at one point I had to restart the game because the weapons shop froze, I was also very fortunate that I didn’t experience any crashes. Overall this game is definitely worth the money and in my opinion it validates the price increase in Sony’s first/second party games. A technical and visual masterpiece that shows what the PS5 is truly capable of, this is why we need exclusive PS5 games.… Expand

    It’s very fun with a lot of weapons that are fun to use, especially with haptics. Great story with memorable and charming characters, the photo mode is one of my favorite things to do because the visuals are AMAZING. This is a showpiece of what the PS5 could do.

    Ratchet and Clank is finally back! This is on par the great classics of PS2 years. Graphics are great but what is most important here is the gameplay and this delivers! This is a must buy! 9/10 (loses 1 point for some minor but anoying bugs which undoubtedly will be fixed promptly)

A thrilling entry into the Ratchet and Clank universe that does a great job in delivering huge moments and great non-stop action.

    Let's say it right off the bat, this game does not reinvent the wheel, nor was it supposed to. the R/C series has had a tried and true formula, that does not need to change very much. It has very tight and fun gunplay, a great variety of weapons, good comic relief, and some exploration as well. The game itself is about 10-12 hours long, with a challenge mode unlocked (new game plus) after you beat the story.

    Visually this game is stunning. After playing it in fidelity mode and performance mode, I came away very impressed with just how smooth this game plays. Personally, I do not believe that this game needs 60 FPS as I really could not tell the difference between the two modes when it came to how smooth it looked. So I played with the best graphics I could, and they were incredible. The amount of things going on in this game at one time, and for there to be no framerate drops ever is worth the price of admission. It delivers on the next Gen graphics and next-Gen speed. My PS5 can be turned off and I can be playing this game with 20 secs of turning it on, less than 10 if in rest mode. No loading and no lags. I will say that I did experience a few bugs, the most common was the game not closing the menu on the guns after I previewed weapons, but I am sure that will be patched up.

    I do not have a lot to say negatively about game, however, I was disappointed with the way the new character (Rivet) is used. I understand that they wanted you to feel like you were using Ratchet, his name is on the game, but I feel like they missed an opportunity to put some new mechanics in the game, give her some guns that are unique to her, give her her own puzzles to solve. Overall she is fun like you would expect, I just feel like they missed a great way to refresh some things in the game world.

    I earned my Platinum trophy this morning, and still want to get back into this world and play some more. In the grand scheme of things that it was it should be about, do you want to keep playing this game? The answer to that is a resounding YES! 9/10 See you in the next dimension!    … Expand

    Amazing graphics, the pocket dimensions blows my mind how we can just walk in and out of them.. SSD implementation is next level and gameplay is very fun. Insomniac raises the bar again.

The negatron collider unleashes massive destruction with a beam that goesIn any Ratchet & Clank game, it’s expected that players are provided access to a varied, fun, and downright bonkers arsenal of weapons. Rift Apart takes this to a new level with an array of unique new weapons. The shatterblast is one of the more conventional weapons which fires grenades that explode upon impact. The negatron collider unleashes massive destruction with a beam that goes through multiple enemies. The drillhound digs towards enemies and explodes in their face. The topiary sprinkler, probably my favourite of the bunch, turns enemies into beautiful topiary which makes them easy targets.     This was my 1st Ratchet & Clank game and I loved it. 45 hours to beat it but I took my time to find everything and I enjoyed the amazing graphics and just absorbed the beautiful worlds insomniac created. Im trying to platinum it now. Only thing I didn't like was how slow & boring the beginning was and the motion blur and camera speed made me nauseous but insomniac allows the gamer toThis was my 1st Ratchet & Clank game and I loved it. 45 hours to beat it but I took my time to find everything and I enjoyed the amazing graphics and just absorbed the beautiful worlds insomniac created.     I must say, I have never played a game quite like this before. Amazing story aside, the utilization of hardware that was included not as a cheap trick but as a primary gameplay mechanic has never been done before. The immersion is amplified ten fold. It just feels like a cutscene at some points to load in a new level. Finally, the game is way too short for the price of entry. $70 for a 7-hour campaign is a borderline rip-off. I think at the maximum, this should have been charged at the same rate as Spider-Man Miles Morales, a game which has a similar length campaign and roughly 20 hours of total content (charged at $50). Hopefully they will become a main stable for the series from here on out. The gameplay was fun as ever even tho I mostly ended up missing some of my favorite weapons like the groovitron or the sgeepinator. The dimensional stuff shown in the gameplay fits very well into this platformer and gives this game way more depth during combat than the earlier titles. The ai is one of the best in the series. The story itself was amazing as well (even though a bit rushed at the end imo). All in all a very good game that I am happy I picked up. The wait was worth it. Cons: the game was way too easy to platinum. Even easier than the ps4 game. The game is almost a bit too short. I feel like 3 more worlds and a more fleshed out ending would have given this game the perfect length. There are still a lot of bugs in the game. Most are only grafical but I also encountered some bugs where I clipped through the floor. Finally the price is too high. In my country 80€ for amount of content ain't great. As memtioned earlier it felt like three was something missing. Like a more fleshed out ending. All in all a brilliant game. While a crack in time still remains as the best RnC game Rift apart manages to hold it's own next to it. The game is way more than just a tech demo for the ps5.     Cons: a bit short for $70 game (~18 hrs if you do everything) with not a lot of reply value. Accessibility for all ages make the game a bit too easy (even on hardest setting) and lacking in depth.

    This gme is pure amazingness from start to finish… youll be going back and for the playing as ratchet and rivet, but everything the other collects is shared… youll be going through these beautiful levels, getting awesome new traversal skills, beating up bad guys, taking their nuts and bolts, using thm to buy weapons and like 2016’s each weapon here feels like its own character for you to master, as while youre using them, theyre leveling up, giving you new abilities to unlock and make that weapon better… I wasn’t in love with the weapon selection here, but they did their job and by the end of the game youll feel untouchable… ratchet and rivet play and feel exactly the same.. but what doesn’t feel the same is how it feels to actual play this interactive pixar movie.. th dualsense really brings this world to life, and the seemless transitions through rifts and levels.. this game never loads… never.. the action never stops… keeping you immersed waiting to see hats around the next corner… my only real issue with rift apart though is its level variety… the levels here aren’t memorable at all, theyre all actually pretty generic.. you would thing a game all about alternate dimensions, they would really have some fun here mixing things up and letting you see something you’ve never seen before… but especially compared to 2016’s ratchet and clank.. the levels while all fun to complete at get through, and find their secrets.. e…are pretty bland.. and also not much in general is done with the rift jumping.. like I said no cool areas, and even in game I feel he rift jumping kind of ats as a grappling hook that sometimes is in battles, where you can instantly pull yourself to a platform.. and most times theyre nowhere to be seen.. other than that ratchet and clank rift apart is pure joy, this is again a pixar movie come to life… the dualsense and processing power of the ps5 will blow your mind here and the gameplay and story will have you smiling the whole way through…Rift Apart is a must own.

    Puzzles are also back with Clank having his own puzzles that are actually pretty amazing and a new set of puzzles with "Glitch" wich are pretty damn cool...they are more mini games then puzzles tho.

    Overall a MUST play for PS5 owners, there is not a single reason why i would not recommend this    … Expand

Rivet the new character is charming and i would love to play her new standalone game. The story is quite weak but still an enjoyable one insomniac did an amazing job on this one highly recommend if you have a PS5.

    After I dropped the first Ratched I was sceptical about this one. After 18 hours on the max difficulty and Platinum trophy, I can say that this is one of the most amazing games I've ever played. The graphics, gameplay, guns, and DualSence support are absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it to everyone.

    My expectations were exceeded, as a fan of the series from the first game released in 2002, this game has blown me away on every single level, Insomniac have set the bar for what a PS5 game should be. Graphics, gameplay, story and reliability is just fantastic.

    This game is definitely a leap over its predecessor. The graphics are so dense and detailed. So much going on screen with highest quality I ever seen on my sony x900h. Its mind blowing and absolute treat to play. My GoTY alongside Returnal.

    This game is the Blade Trinity of the Ratchet & Clank series and feels even to a degree like MGS2 did with its character swap. The game is presented as a Ratchet & Clank game yet is anything but. The opening cutscene reveals the new playable character Rivet and out of the 9 planets that are available in the game, Ratchet has 4. The final boss is beaten by Rivet and all of the major story and character development is all about Rivet. Ratchet & Clank take a backseat to what looks like a setup for a main character change in the series (nothing wrong with that if that is the intention).

    Ratchet & Rivet have zero gameplay differences, share weapon levels and gadgets. Rivet has the entire arena all to herself and Ratchet is not even playable.

    Besides what appears like obvious pandering to a new audience, the game is a visual masterpiece. I didn't personally touch the 4k 30fps mode as previous Ratchet & Clanks feel extremely off at 30fps however at 60fps the game flowed and felt like the perfectly refined Rivet & Clank/Kit game that it is.

    The seamless transition from planet to planet is amazing, the load times are non existent, the guns are mostly enjoyable and fun (why are there so many throwable bomb type weapons?) and the only true disappointment is the RYNO. The planet environments look beautiful and are fun if not reasonably linear experiences with VERY easy to find collectibles which is a strange change and almost all of them can be completed 100% on the first visit, without needing any gadgets.

    As for replayability? Well Insomniac dropped the ball with the trophies this time around. There's no requirement for all gold bolts, no requirement for all weapons upgraded and no requirement for challenge mode either. It's probably the simplest platinum in the entire series with little to no effort and an easy mode that literally makes you invincible.
    In saying that, there is challenge mode and omega weapons, but it's up to the player if they want to pursue these things without any trophy rewards. I personally went for all gold bolts and armours out of habit in these games but have no interest in challenge mode.

    What would be cool is if Insomniac did straight up release "Rivet & Kit" and had an entire game featuring Rivet as the sole playable character and made an effort to differentiate her from Ratchet giving her skills/weapons/gadgets that are unique to her. It would also allow for a reimagining of past Ratchet & Clank villains and planets

    However we all know that the next game will be a co-op game where both are playable and there is still zero difference between them.

It played surprisingly well on fidelity mode too which I thought would be unplayable. Story is alright, and just like everyone expected the humor doesn’t hit like it did back in the ps2 days. Seems to almost be an incomplete games at times which I think is just an insomniac thing at this point. Make it just good enough to be considered a great game even though there are some things that could’ve been polished up. Firstly is the platforming, somehow that took a step back, jumping up on various things can almost feel janky at times. There’s also big sections that are defined on the game map that look like they should be secret areas. Instead they are empty and sometimes provide no way to return which can result in having to restart at a checkpoint. This can be seen i think the most on sargasso. Also they still do the thing where if you stray too far outside the world map you just instantly die. I hate that, these are cool alien worlds. Have a monster come out and gobble you up like in older games. It’s just a weird thing that never needed to be changed, I’m guessing it’s just one more thing to animate and they figured people wouldn’t care. Like I mentioned before exploration can be a little unrewarding at times. Also a weird thing I found is the animations can be way off from the actual hit boxes when out exploring areas, not combat I mean like boulders where you start clipping through while trying to climb it, stuff like that. That’s just straight up laziness. This isn’t a very long game, I don’t see why they couldn’t have polished that stuff up, kinda disappointing for a game that’s supposed to be the next big thing and change everything. Anyways still a solid 8 just because I had such a fun time playing it. Definitely recommend it if you have a ps5.… Expand

If you spend time doing all side quests and collectibles you can probably finish the game in 12-14hrs depending how quick you are.     This is the best in the series to date and being exclusive to playstation shows how well they are doing with their own game studios. This game takes full advantage of the ps5! No loading times, beautiful graphic inputs with 4k 60 fps or you can do raytracing which looks absolutely amazing. This is a must own for the next gen and could potentially be a game of the year contender.

    That's exactly what the PlayStation 5 needed, I played the game through within 2 days and it was terrific. The graphics are the most beautiful I've ever seen, the characters are adorable, the portals function extremely well and the gameplay is incredibly fun.

First of all, as it happened before with Returnal and Spider-Man Miles Morales, loading times are a thing of a past; you can take full control of Ratchet (or Rivet) from the Playstation 5 home screen in less than 12 seconds, and while in game there is a rapid transition between planets that takes only 6 to 10 seconds.
    Second (and most important), is the ability to travel between different “dimensions” and worlds within a level with no loading times at all, which offers the user a very immersive and exciting experience, specially at pursues and fast paced levels.

    The game also takes advantage from the PS5 Dualsense haptic feedback: the player can feel almost all vibrations like steps and, of course, the shooting of the various weapons at disposition.
    Shooting works excellent as did with Returnal; the player is able to choose between 2 modes for each weapon depending on how soft or hard pushes the R2 trigger. For example, there’s a gun that activates a shield while pressing softly R2, and then turns into a powerfull blaster pressing R2 fully.

    Let’s talk about graphics now. I’ve been playing the ps5 since launch and I must say that Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is the best looking game so far. Not only cutscenes looks beautiful but also gameplay is extremely good looking. Player can choose between 3 different graphic modes: Fidelity mode at 4K and 30fps; this is the worst mode you can choose, since the game feels clanky and bad at 30fps. There’s also Performance mode and Performance mode RT which runs at 60fps to the cost of less resolution (actually the difference in resolution is almost imperceptible, so I’d advice to play either at Performance or RT performance mode).    … Expand

    Just wow!!! Insomniac I tip my hat to you guys. This game was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. I've already replayed it again on challenge mode and I still have a blast every second. From the stunning visuals to the smooth game play this is the ratchet and clank I know from growing up.

    The colors, gameplay, haptic feedback in the controller etc makes this game perfect. Buy it, you will not regret at all

    This game is one of the best games that I've played, amazing story, very impressive landscapes, best graphics I've seen to date, gameplay is awesome and still brings back that classical Ratchet & Clank feel but taken to the next-level with the power of PS5, please buy this game, worth every penny.

    This game is stunning. Even in performance mode, might be best looking game ever. Blast to play and it has best story of any game in the series. It’s a must play if u have a ps5. And if don’t have one, this is the game you have to play first when u do get one. 100/10

    This game is a pure GEM ! What a masterpiece from Insomniac Games, this feels like playing the most beautiful game of this kind, combined with that feeling of watching a movie ! Visuals are astonishing, gameplay is just perfect, the features of the dualsense are very well used ! Well I don't know what to say, please just buy it, those developers deserve it ! GOOD JOB GUYS !

    Without getting into spoiler territory, the story has a lot of heart. Characters are excellent and written in ways that make them easy to fall in love with.
    Graphically Rift Apart is stunning and an exciting glimpse into what this generation of consoles (and new PC games by extension) will hold.
    The most critical critic review mentions too many bugs. and in my dozens of hours I've encountered 0 game bugs, 0 crashes, and only a couple UI bugs. Floating text broke away from a tab in the menu when I navigated too quickly, but it goes away the moment the menu is closed and didn't inhibit my playing at all.    … Expand

    What’s so good about this installment of Ratchet and Clank is that it is a true labor of love. There is no other way a game can feel so good, play so well, and take you on an impressive adventure all without that special ingredient to keep it going. The definition of a next-gen title, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a must-play that will leave you super satisfied and hungry for another big game like this one.
