    It’s an amazing gaming experience: awesome visuals (best I’ve ever seen on a console), great story (not as immersive as the first but still) and no bugs at all. Don’t listen to the haters trying to bring this masterpiece down..

    The bugs in this game make it nearly unplayable. Since release i have had 4 game breaking bugs where I had to restart and the graphics may be beautiful but the whole darkness flicker when you move the camera is distracting. Also her hair just clips through her body constantly which is distracting. Beautiful environment but super disappointed when the first quest is glitched out. Yikes!

    We live in an era of service games that are f2p, have unlimited play time, coop and/or pvp and ability to change/customise main character. This game have neither of those. And it add nothing to the 1st part of the franchise. If you want the same Horizon but with fat Aloy, then it's your game. But it's just a boring open world for most people.

    Meh... Whenever I think of something more to say about this game, mediocrity and bland used up open world formula combined with stale stronk womanX Merry Sue characters and narrative that even toddlers wouldnt take without a grain of salt, returns it all to meh.

    I wasn't even really interested in Elden Ring, but after seeing how awful Horizon is, i think i should support Elden Ring, because at least they have interesting world to explore. Can't say that about Horizon....

    Loved the first game so much and am so disappointed with this one.. Standing still and not touching any buttons it is really beautiful at times. But while playing it is annoying at 30fps and at 60fps. And I get motion sickness when playing for more than one hour - it’s the only game where this happens to me and changing the settings doesn’t help.     big downgrade from what they showed in the first trailers..it looks like another game..repetitive..and fog everywhere to hide landscapes..and many bugs....when will sony stop spending more money on advertising and paying critics than on fixing the thousands of bugs in the games?

    A beautiful game in terms of design, but very boring in itself. The same type and boring quests, uninteresting plot, uninteresting and the same type of characters, satellites are not alive, satellite quests are terrible.

    Seriously wtf!!! I have encountered alot of game bugs within this very beautiful game.... I wonder how much can be fixed with a patch or how long we will have to endure. I'm not even close to beating this game and i will change my score when fxed. For now 4/10. Please fix this game!!!

    This game game filled with Bugs and glitches Sony should not release a game this broken , sometimes it gets to 5 fps slower , sometimes the environment just Disappears sometimes the fog takes too long to load and the environment too , sorry I thought I would like this game but I can't

    This game doesn’t deserve a score given the state it was released in. For those on PS5 do not settle for janky 30fps gameplay. Guerrilla completely butchered the performance mode in this game. To the point it causes severe eye strain and nausea. Their rendering technique if you can even call it that produces artifacts and “shimmering” that I haven’t seen since the PS3 days. I was hoping there would be some variety in this game. Truthfully it is just hitting the same robots from the first game over and over and over again. And as they did in the first, this game reuses trash mobs as bosses…a lot. It doesn’t deserve the ratings it is getting. Sadly, there isn’t much good out.     After playing Zero Dawn, I was expecting a great. Instead I got a buggy mess of a game with invisible enemies, button prompts being ignored, UI elements not showing. Sections that are designed to be a pure waste of time with the same slow animations happening on every re-do making repeating the same section to be a complete frustrating thing to do.

    Nothing unexpected or new imo. Developer has found their niche to sell to droves. The first game was so good and this is just more of the same. Giving me more of the same is not what I was looking for. I would say I’m disappointed but I’m not because again, this is what I, unfortunately, expected. If you liked the first game, be ready for something totally the same.

    Congrats to Guerrilla. showed the other developers how to deliver a polished game. no bugs that take away the immersion. funny. And above all: it runs on both platforms perfectly.

    Better than first in every single way. Absolute blast to play. Hard to put down. My only complaint is the platinum is too easy. They really did an incredible job and hopefully we get a 3rd one

Multiple crashes to dash, fell through map twice and general twitchy flashing that could trigger an epileptic episode.     I played a little over 10 hours now, this game took all of the complaints from the first game and improved on it, facial features and animations are the biggest improvement over the last game, a new and improved skill tree also makes the game a lot more fun.

    PS5 features are also one of the most important factors of the game, when I started playing this game all of my controller features were turned off because I mostly played FIFA before. After turning haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, gyro aiming and the speakers back on the game became way more fun, and the 60 FPS performance mode is also really well implemented.

    Parkour system has been revamped with a lot of new features, makes climbing mountains a lot easier and does not feel like a chore anymore.

    Lots of story rich and detailed side quests to do and new things to discover, keep in mind I played just a little over 10 hours and I am still at the beginning of the game, it's very easy to get lost in the atmosphere and exploration of the world.

    10/10 from me so far, will update review once I finish the game    … Expand

    What a gem!

    Just imagine Horizon: Zero Dawn, but improved in about every single way. Better weapons, way better inventory, voice acting, story, just better overall.

    Only downsides in my opinion :

    The sound the focus makes Too many machines can shoot The PS5 version is gorgeous, the quick load and fast travel is anywhere between 1 and 6 seconds. Highly recommend this

I expected the story of forbidden west will fall short, because I didn't think Guerrilla Games could come up with such innovative ideas again. But in that way Forbidden west surprised me: It has also a    Great game! I loved the first game, and if you did, this will be no disappointment!

Guerrilla Games is the new Bioware to me! I also play Mass Effect Legendary Edition just now and in direct comparison I find the storyline is on the same level!

    So if you like good innovative stories and Action RPG gameplay that is not just plain gunfight but has a certain tactial touch - play Horizon! And if you didn't play the first part - start with that!    … Expand

    The graphics are so intense that they cause visual fatigue. The platforming is incredibly tedious and frustrating. We're back in the nineties here. You need tro be very accurate with your jumps, else you'll fall and die, or worse, you'll have to waste a tremendous amount of time redoing the whole platform. I can't remember how many times I've had to restart from a save or restart the PS.
    I absolutely loved the first game. Played it 3 times. I can't get immersed in this one. It's just tedious, boring and buggy. Don't know why companies insist in making sequels so boring (looking at you Last Of Us 2)
    I won't delete it yet, maybe I'll return to it someday, in a few months when all the major bugs will be (hopefully) fixed. But for now, I have to stop before playing this mess I before throw my PS out the window.

    Every mechanic from the first game is refined. Exploration is so great, the movement easy and fluid. It’s legitimately some of the best platforming and running I’ve experienced in a game. Aloy is amazing, her personality and look flushed out. Legitimately loving this game (about 10hr in)

    Time just passes by while playing.
    The immersion level is too damn high!
    It allows for many playing styles and paces. Truly a gem.

    Excellent game, that improves upon the first game in every possible way. The open world is graphically incredible, and the combat is engaging and visceral. I cannot wait for the sequel.

The game feels more like an expansion than it does a 2.0 iteration. Regardless, great female lead, and excellent world building.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Horizon: Forbidden West is a disappointment compared not just with Zero Dawn, but also with the rest of the industry. It has nice graphics and an improved melee combat system. But the story is awful, Aloy is irrecognisable as a character compared with Zero Dawn, and the melee combat system is still not good enough.

    SPOILER ALERT

    The overarching story has no real direction other than to stop a group of enemies (humans that escaped the old world thousands of years ago and have extended their lives with technology) from ending the world. You stop them and then you learn there is a messy blob of mechs and AIs following the old humans through outer space to Earth to kill them, oh boy that's some lazy BS from writers setting up Part 3. There are some nice sub-stories regarding the relations of various tribes, and many side quests are actually entertaining, but the main course is just bad. Whereas in Zero Dawn we had a slowly unfolding mystery that captivated us and carried us to the end.

    Aloy in this game is just an emotionless piece of wood. She learns some news, doesn't care. Someone talks to her, she acts bored. An emergency happens, apathy. She escapes death, she's cool. She's being flirted by the final boss (a scene that made me cringe...), acts like it didn't happen. I could go on and on. Where is the Aloy from Zero Dawn who wanted to passionately discover the world and worried to save humanity from the machines?

    Melee combat was poor on Zero Dawn. It has been vastly improved compared with Zero Dawn's simplistic one-button attacks, but it's still nowhere near decent. There are various combos to learn but are a bit complex for an action game, and timings to continue combos are vague. It's not as difficult as a fighting game, but I skipped most of the melee combat because it's not intuitive and good enough, unlike 2018's God of War or other action games.

    The game's world map is undeniably gorgeous. There are definitely cues taken from Zelda: Breath of the Wild in how you traverse the world. By the game's end you even unlock a robotic pterosaur to fly anywhere you want to, much quicker than on foot or by riding a quadruped machine.

    Graphics in this game are very good for what is a cross-gen game that has to run on PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5. On PS5 you can choose between Fidelity Mode (30 fps at 4K), Performance Mode (60 fps at 1800p checkerboard) and a new Balanced Mode (the Fidelity Mode at 40 fps with dynamic resolution). There is even an option for VRR if you have a VRR-compatible screen. I played the game at 60 fps even though the Performance Mode hadn't been patched yet. It used to be plagued by shimmer and blur, but it was fixed a few months ago and it looks very nice and clean, finally.

    Even if you are a fan of Zero Dawn and want to see what happens next, I'd advise to buy this game only when on a big sale. Full price is definitely not worth it. And keep your expectations low.    … Expand

I compare because they came out around the same time, stopped playing after a week and jumped back in after. So, that did take away. But Elden Ring comparisons aside, it started off enjoyable but by the end, i wanted the platinum and to be over with. The incentive for exploration or to do side quests is really non-existant as there's no need for useless reward. Characters are pretty lame as well. Story wasn't as good either. It just looked so damn good that it's an accomplishment but doesn't matter how good it looks if gameplay gets monotonous. Overall, it starts out fun, then kinda drags by half way point to sum it up.     It's okay, beautiful to look at but it just turns into another open world map marker slogfest. The combat is pretty awful. Dodging is pointless because it seems every enemy attack homes in on you so it becomes less about skill and more about how many healing items you have on you. I'd give it a miss and play Elden Ring instead.

The visual sector is a scream and the audio sector takes advantage of the tempest system. Incredible fluidity in the gameplay and the numerous variety of machines to be able to face.     Imagine not playing the game and giving it a 0. Sony games have basically become Marvel movies to consumers. And now it's either you love it or hate it. This game is a technical fun masterpiece. Another great example as to way you should have a playstation if you care about having amazing experiences in games.

    The Anti Aliasing solution is outdated and shouldn't be used on any modern game. Please use TAA with proper sharpening. The main story is mind-blowing, the side content is excellent and compelling, the combat is per usual very engaging and a challenge, the world is drop dead gorgeous and teeming with life.     Best game I've played in a very long time. The graphics are nothing less than amazing, and the upgrades from the previous game are plentiful. What amazes me the most is how even the side missions have so much content and story that they end up feeling like part of the main quest. Gorilla and Sony did an amazing job. This is definitely game of the year for me.

I would have liked it if they went with an unique art style or just had better design. The only inventive designs in the game are the robot animals, but the rest looks like the type of stuff we have in the real world sadly.

    The writing and narrative is actually pretty bad, it follow your typical block buster type language but ultimately has nothing to say. Aloy herself has also become kind of an unlikable character, she's not too different from the first part but enough to make it feel strange and off. The ending, which i will not spoil, is especially terrible and ruins the whole thing in 20 minutes time flat.

    They have a clear talent for game engine design and know how to output demanding high graphical effects, but in the gameplay, story, narrative, level and game design department they still need a lot of work.    … Expand

    Great looking game, fun game play, amazing story. Not sure why people care about hair on a woman’s face, seems kinda weird and low to review bomb a game based on real anatomy, but to each their own I guess. Looks good on the PS4 as well and it’s a free upgrade to ps5 version.

    PS: you need to play the first game to understand most of what’s going on.

    This is a great sequel to what I felt was the best PS exclusive last gen. As of writing this I’m about 5 hrs in and it keeps getting better. If you liked the original you’ll love this one. Don’t pay any attention to the trolls review bombing a game without reason.

    El nuevo mundo de horaizon es una locura!! El diseño de los personajes es brutal me sorprendió que hasta el npc menos importante este bien detallado con unos modelados de personaje impresionantes horizon da ejemplo de cómo deberían de ser los npc en un juego de mundo abierto y no optar por la via fácil usando el mismo npc 200 veces con diferentes ropa... He disfrutado cada minuto que paseEl nuevo mundo de horaizon es una locura!!     Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
