Nethertheless the story feels like a stretched side quest rather then an actual narrative in itself.
Still there are memorable moments with cool and believable characters and the finally is also worked out in an epic way.
The only real issue that I had were smaller pop ups while traversing the world on your brand new flying mount.

What I want to say is that I had fun playing a brand new story with Aloy and her companian and that I can only recomend this DLC to everyone who loved the base game, but dont expect major changes.

I loved playing Forbidden West and loved exploring this new map, knowing more about the Quen (my favorite tribe!) and welcoming Aloy to my community ;) I would give it a 9 but reading all these pissed off homophobe's comments made me realize how valuable is what Guerrilla Games did here, so there you go.
Can't wait for the third installment of the main game!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had a great time with this DLC. Some fun new battle tactics, and a pretty great final battle. Only complaints are that it was a bit short (Not short for $20, but I was hoping for another Frozen Wilds-sized DLC. I would have gladly paid more for it), and some of the islands were a bit empty. But the gameplay and story were solid. Looking forward to where it goes next.

The homophobes out there must be really dense, because Aloy was obviously queer. I rather thought she might be aroace, but there's no way she was going to be cishet.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's just sad that yet on 2023 review bombing is a thing. And for the most idiot reason. Imagine loving a franchise and from night to day saying is wOkE gArBagE just because there's ONE OPTIONAL ending where Aloy kisses Seyka. It's ridiculous.

It's a great expansion, having a blast backing into the world of Horizon. Almost everything from the base game is improved, nice new story, even though being a little short. Totally worth DLC for the fans of the franchise

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mixed feelings overall, not disappointed with the content just saddened there was only 4 hours of it. Game was visually pleasing but also very dense, it was easy to overlook things in the foliage unless you were scanning with your focus every 10 seconds. Enjoyed the story I just wish there was more, even some more side quests or hunting challenges.

As for the aspect of 'woke culture' I was only bothered when Nova was introduced and was portrayed as mentally abused by Walter's constant tweaking, it's just an AI and instead of salvaging it's knowledge it could have helped against Nemesis and understanding what Walter knew we instead are only left with the choice to kill it and I don't know but that just felt unnecessary. I know we're not supposed to like Walter but there are more unflattering aspects of the male persuasion we could've tacked on him instead of his need to control the females in his life. It just feels like a Hollywood cliché and I wish it could've been more original.

As for Aloy and Seyka I'm happy for Aloy finding happiness and love in someone (I even chose the heart option because girl deserves it dammit) and it was a choice, one I wish could have been with Erend or the Sun King and really let the players decide how they would want the story to go overall.

Everybody review bombing this game haven't even played the game and are just mad that aloy is lesbian. Gameworld is beautiful as ever. Gameplay got even better with new skills and machines. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have no idea why this DLC is getting a lot of hate for; I haven't played it myself, but I have watched it and I loved it. What could happen with Aloy and Seyka wasn't FORCED at all, as people saying here. I was half expecting it to happen during the main game with how she acts. To be honest, thought she could be Bi.

In this game Aloy spent a lot of time with Seyka, where in the past two games and DLC, Aloy spent most of her time alone. But here, she spends it with Seyka and was able to feel things that she never been able to for either being an Outcast or not spending a lot of time with someone. Here, she spends a lot of time with Seyka and for the first time in her life feels things that she couldn't before. It was up to the player at the end of the game if she ends up with Seyka or not, like a lot of games,

Now of you would be review bombing this game if Aloy was straight. You would enjoy this part of the story, having the two characters kiss. The way you are all acting is sick. Don’t get me wrong, I understand where some of you are coming from. As with how many companies recently doing this sort of thing a lot more for the wrong reasons, it can turn people off. But here's the thing, Aloy being gay, that was hinted since the first game. And it was more or less confirmed she would be one when we find out that Elisabet had a female lover in Forbidden West. This alone would make people realise she would be gay too, that or bi. As Aloy was the clone of Elisabet.

For people to act like this is sickening.

Forbidden West was extremely woke to the point where I also rolled my eyes several times. Yes Guerilla Games, we get it, you want to teach people to be more empathic yet what you dont understand is that you create the opposite effect if you want to foce your views upon your consumers.

But I also try to see this matter more differentiated. The world in Horizon is a new world with new societies. Free of religions and prejudices. It makes totally sense that same gender relationships can happen considering that the people are also descendants of the old people from the modern world where gay relationsips were probably absolutely common.

There is no need to bash this game with zero's and hateful comments. I cant think otherwise than seeing little edgy boys behind all these hate comments who never had any serious relationship with other people. Boys, your thoughts will change when you grow up and if not, then you will live a sad life.

As to the game, its obviously more of the same. Graphics are insane and this is the most beautiful game you can play on PS5. Gameplay is fun but make sure you play it on very hard, thats the only way to play it. The game is not unfair and rewards patient hunters who also consider a tactical retreat from battle and rethink their plan.

They don't even need to select it). The DLC is more of an 8. This DLC features great story missions, new enemies, weapons, armor, and skills, and a large, interesting new location. The game still looks phenomenal, and it plays just as great as the base game. I would have liked a few more side quests, and traversing some of the vertical areas can be tedious, but if you like Horizon FW and want a good chunk of content to sink your roboteeth into its worth the low asking price. The story is smallish and feels a tiny bit of an after thought, but it does expand the story, allows more character development for Aloy, and yes, you have the choice to kiss a same-sex character (ooo scary!!) but as always, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay does not break the mold it has already set (although the mold is what we all fell I love with), and Aloy is just as cool and endearing as always. I recommend this DLC (not a new game as people often forget when they get mad about how long it is, it is just a DLC expansion) and encourage others to give it a try at any point. Beautiful animation/cutscenes. The new combat mechanics are great. Compared to HFW, the map does feel a bit empty in terms of stuff to do, but I still find exploring to be fun. I understand with the story that a Hunting Griund wouldn’t make sense. I do wish there was a Tallneck though, I always look forward to them! Story-wise it feels like a good lead-in to Horizon 3, with Londra’s thoughts on what to use against Nemesis as a decent starting point for probably the new game’s main quests.

The ending of the main quest and Aloy’s further character development feels like the next logical step for her. We go from seeing her as a loner and outcast, mostly going it alone in HZD with minimal support from Sylens, plus others in the final battle. To then in HFW, she’s assembled a decent group of friends that are helping her, despite her initial refusal for help and insistence of doing it all herself. With Burning Shores, it feels like she’s getting closer to Beta and she and Sylens are starting to reach a point of mutual respect, if not really friendliness. And of course- Seyka. I was rooting for them since before the game was launched and was convinced that we were going to see something between the two. I was hoping for what we got in the end scene, but didn’t expect it in the DLC.
They work very well together and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter- both in-game and cutscenes. The ‘Heart’ option at the end feels the most in-line with the story and the established relationship of the two throughout the main quests (so I’m hoping that’s the canon option for H3). Can’t wait to see more of Seyka, and just generally more Horizon of course.

Overall, it was solid expansion on the established story and a wonderful arc to further develop Aloy’s character and see her finally starting to let people closer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing DLC, with even better combat scenarios and beautiful graphics. The plot is a big "OK", as it was with Frozen Wilds, just an extra history, which leads to my real (and only) problem with this DLC: the added romance is optional, like a side quest.

Why add something which is really impacting in a character that has in it's development a life of isolation and lack of interest in others peoples personal life? This game never was about the player choice, nothing like The Witcher series. It would be so much better if it was canonical, now it's really hard to know what to think of the character for the next game. More than that, will this choice even matter? Optional dialogues shouldn't even be used in games like this, not at this point at least...

The storytelling, design and actual gameplay are all amazing, and this DLC is no different. It’s also nice to see a female lead that is wearing clothing and gear that would actually protect them in a fight!

As for the ending (no spoilers here), I find it funny that some were shocked - and disappointing that some are irrationally angry over it. I thought we might’ve seen that a while ago, but either way it was such a minuscule part of the overall world and game that it barely is worth mentioning.

A great addition to an already great game. This series continues to develop stories and a world that feels so incredibly real and deep. Ignore all of the hate you read, Aloy is a phenomenal character who is paired up with a fantastic new character in Seyka, and I hope we get to see their story together continue in a future game!

This DLC was amazing although it was rather short if you really wanted to you could finish the main quest line in under 3 hours. everything else like the new skills, characters, machines, and other miscellaneous stuff was great. its a little disheartening that just because of a dialogue option at the end of the story made this game get review bombed. I personally think that the content was 9/10 but the length of the DLC was 4/10 at best but quality over quantity in my opinion. Expand

Good DLC. I thought it was priced very well and enjoyed the story. There were a few areas of the map that felt oddly empty, and I would have liked a couple more ruin puzzles to solve and side quests. Overall, it was more Horizon, and that's never a bad thing.

This DLC has hands down one of the most epic boss fights in any game I’ve played! It’s also nice to see returning characters and new faces as well.

There were multiple parts of this DLC that were moving (the return of a certain side character from the first game was a welcome surprise!), but there was a certain bittersweetness around hearing Lance Reddick perform as Sylens one last time.

I get that people are annoyed about Aloy being gay, I get that you're all butt-hurt she's not being put with any of the male characters. You have a choice to turn Seyka down! You don't have to have Aloy be with her, if you want to live in your glass house, fantasy land where Aloy is straight as the arrows she fires, then go ahead! But stop your whining about it. Rate the game for game play and story and keep your hate to yourself. Do you see any of us going to games with heterosexual couples and throwing the same hate speech to them? Grow up people. And in case you all get even more butt hurt over this, there has been hints throughout both games, you just chose to ignore them. Expand

The playthrough time is shorter than Frozen Wild, but still challenging and enjoyable. The boss fight is epic. For those surprised or upset to find that Aloy has lesbian tendencies, well, she's a clone of Elizabet, who was a lesbian with Tilda. To me, this is the natural arc of the story and doesn't diminish the game in any way. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Burning shores is an outstanding DLC. The story is fantastic and the boss is so satisfying and immense. More so than the actual ending of Forbidden West. To fight the long-feared and anticipated metal devil in a multi-step intense battle was more than I could've hoped for.

The antagonist Londra is perfectly portrayed and you are geared to hate him throughout the story making the ending satisfying. But my real love for this DLC lies in the love blossoming between Seyka and Aloy. Seyka is an amazing new character and she has quickly become one of my favourite female characters, not just in the Horizon franchise. She has similarities to Aloy in that she is head strong, capable and a **** badass. They have similar life experiences and bond over that and the journey they take. They cast Seyka perfectly and I could not pick a better love interest for Aloy.

We've seen Aloy grow and adapt throughout Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. Aloy shows she struggles with the bonds she's made with her found-family. Struggling to let them in, incase they get hurt during her quest. Aloy seems to have the same feelings with Seyka as her fondness and admiration grows for her. She shows her wariness in her new feelings and her vulnerability when going to meet Seyka at the end. In buying the DLC I was hyped for the teased metal devil and the epic fight. But found so much more in this sweet love story and the ending only seem right that Aloy admit her feelings giving us a satisfying end in seeing Seyka feels the same. Being pansexual this scene was so emotional for me. I was so excited throughout the DLC as I saw their feelings develop. LGBTQ+ stories like this are so important and have so much meaning to people like myself. This representation is perfect. Also, I'm probably biased but I feel that Aloy may also be pan. She doesn't seem to have any specific orientation (although this is her first romantic experience). But she seems like she loves people for all their differences and has found something special in the character of Seyka. Not just because she is a woman but, most importantly, because she is an incredible person. Again this is just my take, or maybe how I feel connected to the story and the characters. Aloy doesn't need to be labelled but it's important that I and many others feel seen. Thank you to everyone involved in creating this DLC and the entire Horizon Franchise.
    Thanks for reading, kisses

We get more of the beautiful world we saw in Forbidden West, a continuation of the story we left off at, and can I just say that I love the new Zenith weapon that allows you to blast enemies with powerful homing munitions with ammunition that's easy to make.

The elephant in the room is Aloy's sexuality with Seyka but it's so tastefully done, allowing the player agency in how to proceed with that relationship. There's nothing to get upset about. Great game, glad I bought it, I keep returning to it to explore more of this world and do more side quests, and I can't wait for more.

I didn't feel the chemistry between Aloy and Seyka, there are a lot more other characters who I can associate Aloy with, both females and males. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is visually the best game I have ever played, and in terms of gameplay, it is enjoyable for me, although it may not be for everyone. But the story is the biggest weakness of the game, and I don’t think the story will be great in Someone’s opinion and it may just be the difference between those who say it’s mid and those who say it’s bad. But in different ways, this game completely shows off the power of the 9th generation console.
