    Finally a good Harry Potter game! While the time wasters (collectibles, platinum trophy) were annoying, the story and spells were terrific and definitely worth the whole experience.
    Pros: story, characters, and charm
    Cons: Pointless collectibles, no quidditch

    What does Hogwarts Legacy excel at? It excels at “collecting” stuff. You collect spells, potions, and complete a list of tasks for rewards. The other part Hogwarts Legacy does very well is its combat. I was very skeptical of it going in, but both the simple puzzles and the combat are satisfying; but also very repetitive.

    The game’s a lot of fun. It’s a little cutscene heavy at the start, but a lot went into the music and art to make players feel like they really are at Hogwarts. For example, each dorm room has unique architecture. It’s nothing short of awesome.

    The story and characters were, for the most part, great. I appreciated the thought that went into some puns made by the characters and the lore scattered throughout the world kept me engaged. I found myself rooting for some of the characters. For me, the game really picked up once I could fly.

    Tutorials were barebones, which often meant it took a little extra time to figure out. The Alohomora spell in particular I couldn’t figure out until I looked it up on the internet. Another aspect of the game that fell a little short was the quantity of voice actors. It felt like all the villains had the same one or two voices. I know that the protagonist had a limited number of voices to choose from. I can understand some overlap, but it felt a little like missed potential there.

    Wandering around the school or interacting with characters, you always do so *alone*. While I may have liked certain characters, and some characters may have invited me to do a couple things, I didn’t really feel like I was making friends. This led me to believe that I would prefer a social-focused take on Hogwarts. Fun as the combat is, I’d prefer to get into mischief and interact with other characters.

    The last criticism I have is how the theme was disrupted because the game was trying too hard to be diverse. There were too many accents in the game. I wanted to feel like I was in Great Britain, but you have transfer students and transfer professors who are given the limelight for good chunks of the game, and I would have rather stuck with the British accent OR gone to a magical school in another country and stuck to THAT accent. If it were a Wizarding school in France, then I want a French culture, if it was one in Korea, I’d want a Korean culture—I’d be irritated if English characters weaved their way in as an integral part of the game. I want a celebration of culture. And I want an imperfect cast of characters—that includes artistic license to create good and evil characters without things getting political.

    In conclusion, this is a good game. This game IS very diverse. Improve the secondary characters, or the puzzles, or increase the number of voice actors and added quidditch, or improve the “school” feel of the game and you’d have a masterpiece. I’ve heard rumors of an intended sequel, but to capture my interest, the game must improve its core gameplay by making the game feel less like a repetitive collection grind.    … Expand

    Pros: successfully made an immersive magic world. As a HP fan, it was enjoyable playing in the world that used to exist in the books and movies.

    Cons: combat gets repetitive, enemy variety is limited, many of them are just the same enemies with different costumes (feels like one of those Ubisoft 3A games)

    Hogwarts Legacy is packed with content, secrets, and stories, but it mostly suffers from the fact that everything feels repetitive after the 10 hour mark. Hogwarts itself is the main star in this game. The castle is amazingly detailed, full of secrets to discover and really feels like the magical place described in the books.     The world beyond the walls of Hogwarts is big. Actually, too big. It is an amazing world to see but not to explore. Perhaps the world is the representation of the problem of this game; there is much, but at the end, much of the same when following the main story.

    Fortunately, there is enough variety in the activities outside the story. From taking care of your magical beasts to working out every detail in your room of requirement. Avalanche has really looked closely at what is possible within the world of Hogwarts Legacy.

    Still, I was left with a bittersweet feeling. The game does everything it could have done but misses the mark on some essential points. Because of this I lost the fun of playing the game halfway through the story (finished the story after all).

    At the end a golden future awaits. A lot of people and fans are incredibly happy with how the game turned out and it seems like there are way more magical stories to be told in the Hogwarts Universe.

    After 49 hours playthrough so far of Hogwarts Legacy, I am happy with my purchase. Great game and a lot of value for money! I am going to go for 100% completion with this gem.

They bit off way more than they could chew with such a large open world and it shows in the final product. They should have started with just Hogwarts, the FF, and hogsmeade and made the game much deeper.     It's a really cool game, I'm just a few hours in and I can't wait to get back to it. Very cool world, game looks great, I'm not a huge harry potter fan but my wife is and favorite thing about this game is that she likes playing this game! (she doesn't play games).

The music, the graphics, the details in the open world and its exploration are all amazing. The story could be better, but it seems they wanted to limit themselves to an easy all age accessible story.     Its a really fun RPG with a nice soundtrack, good graphics and beautiful design. I watched the movies long time ago so I just remember a few things but either way it didn’t affect my understanding of the game so far. Game runs pretty great, haven’t noticed any major bugs to my surprise. Very solid early-release launch.

    It's one of the most boring games I've ever played in my life. The character design lacks creativity, the sound is good, and the world is beautiful in some places. The puzzles are enjoyable, but that's about it. The rest is just dull. The story is slow-paced and the tasks are boring.

    A huge minus is a complete lack of logic when it comes to in-game morality - you can choose to learn unforgivable curses but if you choose not to your character will be much weaker. You can cast Avada Kedavra as much as you like and it is really powerful, but the game does not punish you in any way for using those curses, there's no morality system of any kind. The NPCs also do not response to you being esentially a dark wizard. This translates to a fact that you are a teenage student and yet you slaughter your enemies by the hundreds - literally killing them, not stunning or putting to sleep - you murder them, a teenage studnet at Hogwarts... and the game does not acknowledge it in any way - it is a huge immersion breaker.
    Another big downside is how NPCs approach you as a player - everyone is so nice to you and polite, it feels more like a children's fairy tale rather than a beliveble world. Paired togather with the whole curses system and killing mentioned above, it makes for a chaotic mixture of an unbelievable world.

    A big plus is satisfying animation when it comes to collectables and beasts. But it gets repeatable after w while.

    The ending is incredibly boring and predictable as it leaves you wiht a complete lack of satistaftion.

    In the end I would not return to this game as it is to big and gets boring after a while. Plus there are no real choices to be made so you would not see anything new with a second playthrough.    … Expand

    almost perfect game.. the world is amazing. combat is excellent. the only ok (its not even that bad) thing is the loot system which is kind of RPG looter style without much depth.

Sollen doch bitte die Transgender mit ihren Geminio Geschlechtern sich revelio, die dies so schlecht bewerten. Da kriege ich keinen Erecto. Ich geb dem Spiel meine volle Pretego.     This is the dream game for every fan of the Harry Potter/Wizarding world universe that everyone waited, the open world landscape is amazing, the plethora of spells combos you can do, THE MUSIC (especially the one before the last boss fight that "everyone" gathers) was magical, the story was executed perfectly and kept it mysterious and exiting to the very end, excellent combat mechanic andThis is the dream game for every fan of the Harry Potter/Wizarding world universe that everyone waited, the open world landscape is amazing, the plethora of spells combos you can do, THE MUSIC (especially the one before the last boss fight that "everyone" gathers) was magical, the story was executed perfectly and kept it mysterious and exiting to the very end, excellent combat mechanic and feels great on the Dualsense.

    I used to wish for a fully-realized open-world Wizarding World to get made one day, and Avalanche Software went above and beyond to get that childhood wish of mine fulfilled. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.

    Great Hogwarts simulator but other than that it has a big wasted potential on its plot and classes. The one who are responsible of this game should've checked out the parts of class simulations in Bully.

    really good game and atmosphere, really enjoyed playing it. The only thing i didn't like is the really shot main story. The main story didn't even touch all regions from the map. which was really sad.

    What starts as an interesting experience is quickly replaced by boredom and monotony. Couldn't push myself to finish, it's just a lot of uninspired quests and lackluster combat with mediocre puzzles.

    Even the setting doesn't cut it for me.

    A Magical game, accumulated more than 15 hours in the game, the best asset of this game is the combat itself very complicated combat yet an exciting way to play using range magic, I like the combos where you can create ways to pummel and get huge damage to your opponent. Aesthetics is great considering the ambiance of the game it works perfectly. Exploration is also good but kinda repetitive but most are okayish I just wished that the puzzled were a bit more complicated but things like capturing beasts are rather fun, other game mechs such as the room requirement were also addictive you will find yourself locked in, and spending more hours collecting items just to unlock certain items and setting up the room the way you want it.

    The one thing that I dislike is the limited types of enemies hopefully at the later part I'll be encountering the different unique types of mobs aside from dubogs, trolls, undead, wolf and spiders.

    Story since I'm not half way yet, I would say it looks promising regarding the Ancient Magic.

    Overall the game is a solid 9/10, with amazing combat and a beautiful aesthetic of a magical world.    … Expand

    The game has everything a Harry Potter fan could ever dreamt of in a video game (beside Quidditch), it's like my childhood dream comes to life. The combat is also surprisingly satisfying although I didn't expect much from it at first. And it works really well on the PS5 right at launch, that alone is a huge thumbs up, every Graphics modes works exactly how it's supposed to.

    Hogwarts Legacy is a steller game. The developers have truly captured the vibe feel and essence of Hogawarts and the surrounding areas from the Books/Movies. The gameplay is fun, inventive and has kept me interested through the 20 plus hours I've played thus far. There is no controversy here, the game is great and you should Def play.

    This game has exceeded any expectations I had. I am completely lost in the beautifully crafted world and its mysteries. The combat is engaging and fun, the side quests and exploration will provide hours of additional meaningful content as well. Even if you know nothing about the lore and universe, this game is magical and feels great to play. It’s also very easy to play so anyone can pick this up and get immersed and have a great time with it. Pick it up asap if you have not, you will NOT be disappointed.… Expand

    Great game, great story, great graphics, and you get to explore Hogwarts as a Witch or Wizard, what’s not to like. Only thing I found disappointing was how it didn’t matter what kind of wand I used, they would all perform the same, so wands are just purely for aesthetic purposes in terms of picking of your own wood, core, etc.

    The variety in spells and enemies was incredible and how they're taught and experienced through the course of the game made it so stress free and genuinely enjoyable. In other games I often get overwhelmed trying to understand this stuff, but this game did it perfectly.
    I am genuinely so impressed and happy with this game and couldn't recommend it more, especially to Harry Potter fans who suffered through the walking simulator games we've had in the past. It is everything I could've dreamed of as a kid and getting to experience everything with my own character was amazing. I can't wait to replay    … Expand

    Legit the single best open world game I have ever played to date. Sure, there are fetch quests galore, as you may expect if you have ever played an RPG open world game before. However, the lore building, diverse events and amazing scenery is so well done and realised that the fetch quests are enjoyable to do, even at their must mundane.     Had an absolute blast playing the game. The castle and word are extremely detailed and there are loads of things to do. However, some of the side activities got really boring as they got very repetitive after sometime.

    This is the Harry Potter game we've been waiting for. Everything we hoped and dreamed is here. There might be one too many collectibles that it's putting an Ubisoft game to shame, but it's still an amazing experience.

    This was honestly the game I dreamt about since the first time I watched the Harry Potter movies. The world imagined by JK Rowling is so damn well put to life in Hogwart's Legacy. Combats feel good with all the spells you can do, traversal is amazing with brooms, hippogriffs and thestrals, graphics are amazing (except maybe the faces), and the story is very good (with a lot of referencesThis was honestly the game I dreamt about since the first time I watched the Harry Potter movies.     Hogwarts castle just left me speechless. It's the most detailed thing I've seen in any video games. Full of mysteries, puzzles, characters and side quests. You really feel like you're a student yourself.

    In the end, this was a perfect experience. Congrats to the teams at Avalanche and Warner Bros., you did a very good job! I can't put a score lower than 10, I just wish they expand the Wizarding World lore with other games like this one, but maybe in other countries, that would be awesome.     I solemnly swear that this game is good, the combat gets a little boring after a while. The main quest is not engaging at all. I enjoyed the Sebastian and Poppy side quests the most.

    I few minor glitches here and there, but no big deal.

    Overall, I definitely recommend it.

    Hogwart and Hogsmeade are absolutely wonderful, a masterpieces of building. The atmosphere in the castle is a total success. The gameplay is fun and the flying broom feel right.
    All that being said there is a real disappointment, everything else feel so generic, without any soul. I was expecting more of a "Bully" type of game, but didn't really have the school vibe.

    It really gets most things right. Amazing combat system, great gear customizability, beautiful graphics and a large world to seamlessly explore. My one complaint is that many of the characters, and by extension many secondary missions are a bit of a bore and a filler. The main story makes up for it however.

    First two hours I was thinking I would be disappointed then it picks up and is one of the best games I've played in the last 2 years I will say the story is good but could have been better and the school said of the game is missing but overall its a fantastic game

    but everthing else ... the grafics, sound, immersion... you just feel like u are in the harry potter universe... just great.. best hgarry potter game so far... bye a lot .. and the story is really good to :)

    I haven’t been this satisfied as a gamer is a very long time. It’s so refreshing to see a developer not leaning on all of the money grabby techniques (always online, dlc, microtransactions). Also, this game’s expansion on an already massive world from the books and movies is truly awesome. I’ve never felt more immersed in my character and their world.

The art design is incredible, and one thing you will notice right away is that unlike other open world games, here you can actually enter most buildings and locations you see.

    The loot system could be better, and the voice acting, and conversations animations and character models are hit and miss, mostly miss aside from the main characters/instructors.

    Now to address the very selective controversy surrounding this game...

    It's absolutely appopriate and right to give a statement regarding Rowling and the controversy surrounding this game when discussing it.

    However, the issue that is being raised here is just people wanting to bandwagon. If this nonsense regarding WORDS by a bigot hadnt gained hive mind internet momentum no one would be talking about it. Just as those that claim they won't bankroll oppressions continue to do so with literally hundreds if not thousands of purchases they make throughout their lifetime under our current system.

    So dont tell me this is your stand, when the minerals and labor in your phone, game console and TV promote slavery war and genocide, when you applaud the newest Fromsoft title in which they dont pay their employees for the forced overtime it took to produce. When you wash your hair or take medication that was first tested on the primates sitting in cages right now as you argue about this one womans words. When you eat your dinner made via mistreatment and the opposite of peace for the lifeforms that sit on that plate. Don't forget the predatory practices of the employer you work for or the advertising you allow on your site in the name of profit to continue feeding the system and pay their life tax on you.

    If you are going to pretend like you care about peace for something you had better mean it beyond a 6 month internet hype cycle surrounding this one sad woman's words.

    What she said is garbage and ignorant, yes. but seriously? This where you draw the line? a friggin' Potterverse game?! That's it?

    I'm not buying it.     It's not bad, they've adapted the Harry Potter world excellenty but ultimately it feels like a mediocre Assassin's Creed clone with few own original ideas, the quests are dull and tedious. I do like how very diverse the cast is and the game is LGBTQ+ inclusive which must have been a very concious decision by the developer. Nice to see an inclusive game like this being so successful.

    Spells should level up as you use them, with either better cooldowns, more potent effects, increase in damage, etc. being awarded on each subsequent level up. Almost like sign intensity in the Witcher, where a 0% Aard cast barely staggers an enemy, but 200% throws them back several feet and knocks them down. I would love to be able to level up Levioso to the point where it targets multiple enemies at once, can lift larger enemies, lasts longer, and has decreased cooldown.

    Potions, although powerful, are limited. There are only a few potions in the entire game, minus the healing potion and the one that reveals chests for 48 minutes, and the one that makes you invisible for all 4 seconds, the only ones I can think of give you more damage with spells, reduce spell cooldowns, and increases the damage you can take. Which are 3 really good effects. But why isn't there a potion for increasing max HP? Why isn't there a potion for refilling the ancient magic bar? Or a potion that allows you to block the red, usually unblock-able, attacks? There was so much potential to have dozens on potions with unique effects to enhance unique play styles, but instead we get a few basic potions.

    Your house makes no difference. I thought your house would at least provide a passive ability through out the game or something. But it's pretty much irrelevant.

    I guess, my main point is that this game doesn't have potential for many different character builds. You're never playing for the next perk point or trying to reach a higher level so you can finally defeat a certain boss. The RPG mechanics are kind of like, "a babies first rpg", kind of thing.

    It's not all bad.
    Hogwarts is impressive.
    Flying feels good.
    Combat can feel satisfying.
    The room of requirement is probably the best part of the game. Although again, with more potions and more things to make it could have been soooo much better.    … Expand

    the story isn't bad, but it lacks because it feels like they gave up halfway on certain mechanics or story elements and while a lot of people were excited to thinking they would have the choice between being a dark wizard or not the most that comes down to is getting the option to learn the 3 unforgivable curses. and there are no consequences to learning them either in the story or the gameplay.

    and this is a minor thing but you can't explore all the house dorms in a single playthrough to enter any of the houses you have to at least play the beginning of the game 4 times to see every House dorm, but the good news is that every House does have a mission exclusive to them kind of its a segment of the main story that takes place early on and is different per house.

    to get the platinum it took me about 57 hours with 54 Hours being in the playthrough where I got all the collectibles and the last 3 getting the final 3 trophies that require you to reach a certain stage of the game in every house.    … Expand

    The other great feature of the game is the combat.. Didn't think that wand combat could be that fun and dynamic, but it is really well realised.

    There is a ton of content in the game, with the downside that the second half can drag a bit as you spend much more time out in highlands, and the whole thing loses some of its wizard school focus.

    Hogwarts Legacy is a breath of fresh air in the begining of a 2023 with no relevant games coming out, it can deliver several hours of immersive and addictive gameplay, they promisse immersion and they delivered flawlessly. The story is not the most complicated or well writen, it may have some plot holes.     A must for any Harry Potter fan, it is incredibly faithful to what has been seen before, it transports you to a magical world.

    The problem is in all the side quests, they are very very very very repetitive, you will end up hating Merlin's trials.

Besides that the game has everything you want in a Harry Potter RPG good world building, a fluid combt system, interesting side quests and the world as well as Hogwarts its self is very large and well designed. It makes you feel like you've been transported into the Wizarding world Now there are a few flaws for there is no such thing as a perfect game. First while the game has a character creater it is not go into nearly as detailed as ones like Wo long fallen dynasty or Nigh 2 but that's not a problem I am probably nitpicking because I can't find many problems Because there are more things I enjoyed in Hogwarts Legacy then things I did not enjoy. The compain side quests are one of my favorite things about this because the companies and there story lines were woven into the main plot as were the classes where I had to learn specific spells and skills before progressing while also doing side content if I wanted to In conclusion this is the best game for those who are starting into gaming because of its easy going and more relaxed at times structure and easy to learn mechanics also any Harry Potter fan will enjoy this game

    It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
