All of the bland, underwhelming, hyper-linear years of playing as Harry, and only Harry (followed by a brief and fun stint with Quidditch World Cup on PS2), feel as though they pale in comparison to what we have today. Players are able to freely walk about Hogwarts, decide their own speed and agenda, and fully take in every weird, interesting (and interactive) part of the environment they can find... I wasted entirely too much time watching a shrub prune itself. If you grew up a fan of the books or movies, if you found yourself wanting better for yourself after years of PS2 and GameCube Harry Potter games, if you enjoy well designed environments with enough to keep you busy for a long while, Hogwarts Legacy is a must grab. One gripe... There is a minor loading hitch when entering large rooms through a door. Couple dropped frames. It's fairly seamless on PS5 if not for this. I imagine the PS4 would absolutely hate running this game but a decent PC... Xbox Series... PS5. Go for it. Expand

Hogwarts Legacy provides an expansive world of magic and mystery. With a main story that is both whimsical and gritty, and over a hundred side quests, there are countless reasons to ply out an enchanting life in the game. Occasional graphical issues are noticeable but overall negligible to the abundant sense of wonder. Hogwarts Legacy is a spellbinding and enchanting experience not to be missed.

Okay, this game wasn't that bad or good until one moment. Until the moment when I just literally can't solve the puzzle on my own, not with the help of guides or youtube. If you're an adequate person, then walk away. If you're a fool (a fan of the Harry Potter universe) - then the game is for you. I hope you get sucked in and don't get out of here like I did. Haha

The first 10 or so hours are awe-inspiring and full of promise. You have a perfect balance of student vs hero and a nice mix of classes vs saving the wizard world. Then… there’s a shift. (Very *minor* spoiler and I’ll keep it pretty vague) After about five or so classes at the very beginning, your professor gives you your very own special place for ALL your magical needs. And I mean literally… ALL of it. It seems awesome at first, until you realize this is your replacement for classes. “Who needs anything else when you can brew 25 wiggenweld potions right here in under a minute! It’s not even fall yet and you don’t need to step foot in another classroom ever again, doesn’t that sound SO great!?” I wish I could decline the offer. I liked the classes? I don’t want to reduce my school experience to one single room? This is where the magic of Hogwarts took a severe plunge for me. The classrooms sit eerily empty the rest of the game, not even NPCs seem to take classes anymore. And suddenly the game becomes a tedious bee-line back and forth from your secluded “special” room, to various caves/mines the rest of the game. As a fan of RPGs I really love the roleplay aspect. I was excited to be a student at Hogwarts, but I spend 90% of my time alone. I’m struggling to finish the game. I really wished I had to go to potions class to make potions, and Herbology to grow plants, make a stop by the Beasts class to visit my magical Beasts I collect but I can’t. They shrunk the giant castle of a school and all of its potential down to one single room. My common room never needs to be set foot in again, either, after the first few hours. I thought House Quests might spawn there. But nothing ever does, my Housemates don’t even acknowledge me. Im 70% done with the game and I’ve never seen my student even sit down in the dining hall. I cant interact with it. I Can eat food off of random bar tables and drink someone’s Butterbeer backwash, but I can’t touch the student’s food. Same with my “bedroom”, I can’t even sleep in my bed my character just exclusively drops to the floor for a nap instead… even in my room. They give you the freedom to decorate your “special one-stop space” but I’d rather have decorated and customized my own dorm instead and continued going to the classrooms to brew/grow things. I even customize all my gear in that room, so why should I even return to the clothing store in Hogsmeade? That room killed it for me. It really did…

My character has been kind of a loner ever since. Feels like I drank and invisibility potion and can’t undo it. Suddenly no one cares if you wander right in the restricted section, no one will say/do anything. People only talk to you when they need to send you off on another fetch quest in a spiders den. There’s no fun/happiness after the first few hours. Im not a student anymore, im more of an errand girl. My House doesn’t mean anything but the color of my robes. I don’t know, the magic just kinda stopped being magical.

I enjoyed my 19 hours, but I don't think I'll ever restart a new game in order to finish the game as my time is precious and I'm worried I'll get stuck against my will again. Oh well, onto games that don't have game breaking bugs everywhere.

For reference, this is the bug I encountered and the developers have been aware of it for 45+ days at the time of writing: https://hogwartslegacy.bugs.wbgames.com/bug/HL-851

    Cons
    - The story is quite boring and convoluted
    - The hippogriff looks great but flying it is pretty boring as it's quite slow.
    - Some of the voice actors were so cringe. It's like they were pulling characters from the nerds in Canis Canem Edit but with none of the humour or self awareness.
    - The room of requirement was not required very much for me. The animals were an interesting idea but did not feel fleshed out enough. It seems like an awful long winded route to get feathers and other consumable ingredients from them when any other game would just have you pick these up in the wild. It would be different if the animals themselves gave you some form of skill/perk/upgrade/buff rather than a feather or hair to use to upgrade your gear.
-The gear numbers etc meant nothing to me I just kept changing to the highest numbered gear and felt no difference throughout the game.

The story I found myself skipping a lot of cutscenes. As much as I love harry potter, the story didn't cut it for me and found it a bit convoluted. Firstly focusing on goblins and you instantly know who the final boss will be but then it goes off on tangents and you start following another main story and you think oh ok where is this going and then its like they forgot the goblins were there and had to rush then back in at the end. The gameplay is the main draw for me. The combat feels fresh for the first half of the game but doesn't add much else towards the end. The world is well crafted with a lot of interesting places to explore and recognise, many areas are created to look like the films while many others have new original takes on them. I can't say they're an improvement, especially the areas with the classical music playing, I find them pretty annoying because it never ends.

I wish there were more side quests and with hints to lore rather than some of the mundane ones we got.
I wish there was more to do other than the story and side quests. I think quidditch is the obvious answer but of course we are getting a separate game for that so it's like we can't expect an open world Harry Potter game to include quidditch anymore.

I enjoyed the game for the most part and would recommend it especially to any Harry potter fan but there are some drawbacks to the experience.

    – Collectibles has no reason. Balloons are flying around Hogwarts just so you can fly through it, and nobody has pushed a stone for a hundred years so that you can come, push it and solve a puzzle.
    – The world feels very static and artificial. Filled with dozens of enemies for you to kill.
    – A lot of chore activities: selling tons of gear, brewing potions, taking care of your garden and "rescuing" animals. Takes a lot of time in game.

Overall, pretty good game, but I've played many better implementations of this open world formula. The main selling point is the Harry Potter theme, but it does it very well.

This game thoroughly impressed me more than I expected - particularly in its first half, before the open world fatigue started to take its toll. It's so nice to see an open-world game with a UK countryside setting.

The story and characters are passable - nothing great but it gets the job done. This is not what you play the game for though. The combat however is something that stands out to me as very strong. It's great fun to use combos as you unlock more spells. In spite of its flaws, Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter game that fans have been dreaming of for years.

The quest design is hopelessly outdated at the best of times, but at least some of them are presented charmingly. Nothing you do has any consequences, though. Your choices only affect a couple of dialog lines, if that, and the plotlines will play out exactly as scripted. You can even run around using Unforgivable Curses, and no one will give a crap. An RPG this certainly isn't.

The faces are for the most part robot-like, like stroke patients trying to crowbar an expression into their facial play, and don't convey the emotions the mostly good voice cast puts into the game. Distraught NPCs sound the part, but giving them fitting animations seems to have been too much work, and the transitions are actually hilarious: You turn in a quest for a vendor, tell her her brother is dead, the lifeless model looks as bored as always while the voice actress is sobbing her heart out, and then you click on "Let me see your wares", and she replies cheerily. This is early 2000s quality, if that.

Most of the time they try to circumvent talking about the main character in third person, but when they do, it's "they" and "them". Nobody but pink-haired denizens of the Twitter and university microcosms talks like that. Of course text to speech isn't far enough along, so they can't say the name, but the pronouns? Would it have been too much trouble to put some boxes in the character creation (male, female, other) and record a couple of lines three times?

Which brings me to a the biggest immersion breaker by far. You want diversity, fine. I don't mind it when it makes sense in context. But this diversity pride parade breaks the immersion so hard that it gets absolutely ridiculous. In 1890s Scotland you've got transgenders, gays, lesbians, Africans, Indians, Arabs, Persians, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, all with expressly stated nationalities so that everybody feels represented, and nobody's got a problem with anybody, not even with muggles or mudbloods because even fictional racism would've been too traumatizing, I guess. You visit remote, secluded, tiny villages in the Scottish hinterlands where black kids play with Asian kids in the street and where you do your shopping at Bernard Ndiaye, Fatimah Lawang, Jalal Sehmi and Rohan Prakash's stores. Sure, the studio wanted to virtue signal on a Patronus Charm level because they knew they were up against hateful radical ideologues you just can't please and who desperately wanna cancel you no matter what you do, but this harms the sense of time and place so immensely, I can't even begin to tell you.

The same goes for the modern looks, by the way. Why have it play in the 1890s and then make everything look like it's not? Especially in this case, because the Wizarding World is already very turn-of-the-century-ish in modern times. You have to strike a balance between what we find visually appealing nowadays and what tells us which time period we're in. What's most distracting is the countless modern hairstyles. What about hairstyles that convey "1890s, but instead they look more pleasant to 2020s eyes"? No such luck here. Coupled with the ridiculous diversity you really can't tell in which period this game is supposed to be placed – 1890s Scotland it certainly isn't. More like a modern campus in California.

The open world is empty and uneventful. There just isn't much to do, and what's there gets boring and tedious very quickly. The NPCs won't react to you the way they do in certain quests which makes the game feel even more fake. It's pretty, but the game design underneath is a decade or two behind in lots of places.

Enemies: Wizards, goblins, trolls, dark mongrels, dugbogs, spiders, guardians, inferi – and that's it. Come on, Portkey Games, HL isn't Skyrim, and this isn't 2011 anymore.

What HL gets right is the spells, the combat, the exceptional musical score and the atmosphere. The painstaking detail, the wealth of ideas taken directly from the books or invented for the game is staggering. This is the atmosphere of the first four books (or the first two movies), and it's a slam dunk in my opinion. The castle of Hogwarts has been recreated beautifully and faithfully. As if that weren't enough, it's chock-full of secrets you can uncover. There are so incredibly many little ideas in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade that make you chuckle or even laugh out loud and that breathe the spirit of the books so you actually don't know if Rowling came up with them or the developers. This game adaptation gets right what so many don't: It's as if it was made by the same author.

Amazing Game. Immersive world, with great graphics, and exciting mechanics. It would be sure 10 if they would spend some more time on the development to add Quidditch games + PC optimization because now you need some .ini edition to play comfortably in 1440p on RTX 3070. Generally, lousy optimization is the only weak spot of the PC version. For PS5 I would for sure give max points.

That's what Red Dead Redemption did for me as I never liked westerns. I really only saw a few trailers and thought looks interesting game, however, it is a really treat going in blind.

The world itself is the best part in my mind. This truly feels like next gen game to me one of the few. The load times are about 4 sec to travel anywhere and the SSD instant loading is great. Yes, there are few moments of loading when opening sections of Hogwarts but not enough to take you out of the moment. When you first get to Hogwarts and see how large this place is with the great lighting, it looks amazing. However, once you leave and see the world outside, first trip to Hogsmead, it's great just looking around and taking it in. There's truly a sense of wonder and magic everywhere.

Combat is pretty solid. I was pleasantly surprised as I was not expecting much. It's not perfect by any means but gets the job done. The parrying, ancient magic and different spells make for interesting mix. I find myself hitting the wrong spells a lot as you can only assign 4 groups of 4 and have to switch through and also targeting can be wonky. I'm also playing on hard and it's relatively easy but enough challenge too. Overall satisfying.

Story and characters are generally pretty likable. I'm only half way through but so far it's interesting and all players I have met are likable. There's not much to say in this department as no spoilers are necessary here.

Soundtrack Is also great. This gets overlooked a lot in some off the reviews I've read. It really helps add to the immersion. Places have their own themes and it fits really well. Sometimes it feels like Tim Burton movie with Danny Elfman behind the musical wheel. Definitely helps add to the immersion.

So this has been an unexpected hit for myself overall. What really make the game overall is the world and immersion. There's a sense of wonder and magic around every corner. It's great just exploring and getting a feel for this land. Sure combat can be pretty good and story is decent but that's what makes this game is this incredible world that's taking advantage of the new consoles. On a technical level I think it runs great on balanced mode. There's a few hiccups occasional but nothing that takes you out of the immersion. and to address the other complaint i hear other than technicalities, the bare open world with nothing in it? I've read this complaint and i can assure you there is lots to do and discover. Many of the same tasks and puzzles but it's still fun exploring around. All the negativity and bad reviews is in regards this BS transphobia. I swear people are getting dumb and dumber by the day but if buying a video game labels me a transphobic, then I sure as F*** am transphobic by that logic. I'd recommend this game to anyone.

Most sidequests are forgettable too unless they are involving the other students of Hogwarts. I really love the important side-plotlines you can follow for a long time though.

The combat is fun, but the closer you get to the later stages of the game the lazier you get and honestly it loses a lot its charm very quick. Not enough spells and combos to use, which is why so many people use the "easy" way out by just using overpowered stuff. And I don't blame them.

I originally planned to Platinum this game, but the repetitive dungeons and the massive amount of collectibles, that sometimes just take too much time to get, made me decide against it. Also the gameplay with the fantastic beasts is bland, too time consuming and not worth the effort.

Hogwarts Legacy is a great game for people who want to explore the Wizarding World and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter. People who really don't care about that world and its characters should probably not play this since the plot is not good enough to compensate for a lack of love and nostalgia coming from you when you enter this world as a non-fan.

It's massive and rich lore from the wizarding world. Story makes sense to the lore to which I was worried but no it was done with care. The game is massive and when I say massive it's large open world to explore deep pass the Hogwarts grounds. Story is basic nothing too hard to understand however wish it had more oomph. But it's a good story and setups for a sequel in my point of view. Hogwarts Legacy gives lot's of stuff to do like collecting pages, demiguises, keys etc. And they do reward you with unique costumes and brooms. The game is very customizable with wand handles and outfits. Also you can sell your clothes but won't lose in transmog. You can collect Fantastic Beasts and breed them and also they give you materials to upgrade your outfits and perks. Spells can be mixed with charms and defensive spells or offensive. Yes, you can use the unforgettable curses. Side missions are a hit and miss though however they don't take too long to complete, side stories are among the best here as I called them loyalty missions. There are mini games like arenas, broom time races, dueling and others. Not as much but they do have their rounds. You can brew potions and use the most OP cabbages to attack your enemies and they are extremely OP. I have no negative things about Hogwarts Legacy, it's a magical experience to walk the halls of Hogwarts as I have imagined when I was kid and once you hear that theme from Harry Potter it will make tear up and excited. It's lengthy and my 80 hours of 100% everything my score is a 10. And those Merlin trials are ridiculous alot but hey I still had fun with them and also that extra quest was the best side quest in the game. My score is a perfect 10. Expand

The combat system is decent but lacks depth. Just imagine how biblical this game would be with Team Deathmatch, but the developers were too cheap and lazy to add multiplayer. There is a lack of enemy variety. You'd think we get a variety of monsters to beat up knowing the Harry Potter world, but it's just spiders after freaking spiders. The physics are complete garbage. I had a giant monster ram towards me, and it barely sent me flying 2 feet. Even a golf cart can push me much further than that. The greedy developers are joining the trend of charging an extra $10 to PS5 owners for absolutely no reason. $70 and the facial animations look identical to Life is Strange 1 during dialogue. That's embarrassing and pathetic.

The story is terrible. The side quests are awful. Not even an hour into the game, and the lazy developers were already making excuses for lack of Quidditch. You expect me to believe that safety was more of a priority in 1890s than 1990s? No, tell them the real reason why Quidditch is missing. It's because the developers were too greedy and lazy for that. The missions are boring and repetitive. For a game full of magic, there is nothing to do in the open world. The soundtrack in this game is inferior to the Harry Potter films, not to mention that half of the soundtrack sounds like it was taken straight from a National Geographic documentary. This game suffers from technical issues. $70 PS5 game and there is buffering when opening doors. There are lighting issues. The flying controls for the broomstick are horrible.

As I mentioned earlier, there's no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, this game will go back to the shelf and collect dust. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. I should be guaranteed online multiplayer at that outrageous price. Despite the anti-SJWs cheerleading for this game, it's woke trash. I'll give you one example: UK Hogwarts had way more diversity in the 1890s than it did in the 1990s. Sure, this game triggered SJWs but that doesn't make it anti-woke. I'm sick to death of anti-SJWs turning a blind eye to blatant wokeness in games, just because the internet loves it. They denied the obvious wokeness in DS Remake and GOWR too. Yet, they were quick to call Saints Row and GTA 6 woke. You can't just cherry pick what's woke, based on what grudges you hold or games you enjoy. Literally every AAA game studio has made it very clear in 2020 that they've gone woke. If that's not clear enough, just wait how woke they'll become next year. You're giving SJW developers what they want by ignoring the wokeness. I would recommend this game until it is around $15-$20.

P.S. Metacritic, your moderators are lurking on my profile once again. I have all the receipts of my games in purchase date order and I know these mods are toy-collecting millennials thinking they're special for not liking COD and sports games, so it's pretty easy to know which reviews they're deleting. You think you can stealthily remove a review? Think again. I originally gave this a 3, but then I gave it a 1 when I noticed the day 1 patch was mandatory with internet. Might as well give it a 0 now as the redeeming qualities aren't enough to justify the internet requirement. I removed the paragraph about the woke mob, happy now? Learn to accept different opinions, Metacritic.

Seen individually the mechanics aren't anything special. But the sum of its parts is quite good and addictive enough to keep playing. this is coming from a non woke, non harry potter fan.

Just a good game. Not a masterpiece or greatest hits pretender, Legit good game that suffers from design of ubisoft open worlds where you got 10 bandit camps near you at every minute in the world. For me is 7.5 but i see if you are the die hard Harry Potter fan it's a 10 out of 10 for you just for Hogwarts recreation

A truly fan-service with excellent gameplay, the game has minor bugs, but this doesn’t affect the final rate. This is only 9 because [spoiler] doesn’t have quidditch’s game - Hope to see a DLC soon! The game is fantastic. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold much replayability after you beat it. I wasn't too keen on 100% it either. But I definitely did enjoy my time with it.

Hogwarts Legacy was a childhood dream come true in so many ways. The enchanting world of Harry Potter was always one filled with mystery and excitement, with every page I turned pulling me in and encouraging me to read more to immerse myself completely. This game had the exact effect, no matter how much I played I always wanted to play more. The Wizarding World met Breath of the Wild inHogwarts Legacy was a childhood dream come true in so many ways. The enchanting world of Harry Potter was always one filled with mystery and excitement, with every page I turned pulling me in and encouraging me to read more to immerse myself completely. This game had the exact effect, no matter how much I played I always wanted to play more. The Wizarding World met Breath of the Wild in this masterpiece with a large world filled with hidden secrets, discoveries, and a journey that felt entirely my own. I felt as though I was my own Harry Potter going through my unique journey at Hogwarts, attending classes and making my own group of friends, and making decisions that effected the experience along the way. This was apart of that childhood dream coming true, that feeling of placing myself in the Wizarding World and being a student of my house of choice. Throw in a big mystery to solve, some interesting side characters with fun quest lines, and an amazing incorporation of the fantastic beasts both feral and friendly, and you have a dream come true for all who love the magic of this world.

Exploring the open world filled with hidden puzzles is also a joy, but not nearly as much as finding the beasts along the way. You can find all sorts of magical creatures hidden about and capture them like Pokémon, down to even finding shiny variants which to me was a favorite element of this game. Every boss or big encounter brought something new and exciting, and the soundtrack only grew better as the game went on. Learning spells, brewing potions, harvesting magical plants, and so much more made this game just as much fun to play as the journey itself. This of course included the wonderful cast of other students, fun and interesting professors, and all sorts of unique side quests hidden throughout the world.

It’s hard to put into only a couple of paragraphs all of the things that make Hogwarts Legacy a once in a lifetime experience, but if I were to put it as simply as possible, it really is something special. A fantasy of fans around the world made reality, and a new type of game unlike any I’ve ever played. A few technical hiccups here and there, and occasionally a main narrative that was a bit too straightforward, but never anything that detracted from a phenomenal experience. This is a must play adventure for all Harry Potter fans, gamers or otherwise, and deserving of being the first in a trilogy yet to come.

The details in hogwarts is breathtaking, the graphics are good, especially in hogwarts, and I love the map. Some of the voice acting isnt good and the customization of the protagonist voice causes him to sound a bit like a robot. I noticed the lighting inside hogwarts flashes also. Solid game with multiple annoying quirks. Combat and exploration was done very nicely. The World and Hogwart is done really well. The story on the other hand, sidequests, dialogues are very mediocre. The game is repetitive and after 32h that it took me to complete I was already getting tired. Also the repetitive lines some characters would say... Terrible.

Honestly a great game, above what i expected. Is it perfect? No, is it good? Yes, very good.
    Wanna give it an 8.5
The combat was very very nice, fun combos, nice spells etc. The story was interesting, not the best not the worst. We did not get to spend alot of time with the antagonists/ villains to really flesh them out i think. Would have been nicer to get more time to spend in

The story was interesting, not the best not the worst. We did not get to spend alot of time with the antagonists/ villains to really flesh them out i think. Would have been nicer to get more time to spend in classes and learning more about the teachers. But the characters where great!

The world is spot on, looks amazing, sounds amazing. Truly feels like im in the HP universe.

A couple of minor cons imo,

The lockpicking was horrible, no skill needed just a timegate to open a door/chest. They should have atleast added instant lock opening on lower Lvl 1-2 locks when u have the higher skill?!

The ability to not play on fullscreen on PC is just strange.

Not being able to (Sell All or mark selected / sell selected gear) is just annoying.

Not alot of enemies, which can make it kinda tedious, and waaaaaay to much gear, which then makes it just a numbers fest and the excitment of looting a '' so called legandary'' just does not feel like looting a ''legendary item'' . Would have been nice with less and more specialized gear.

Running around with 30k gold and nothing to spend it on felt weird.

But with all that said, if you like fantasy, magic , adventure or RPGs, its definitely worth the money!

Played 61 hours and got 100% if people wonders

With the plethora of open-world video games flooding the market, they're becoming increasing cookie cutter, with most adopting Ubisoft's formula of icon-filled maps and side stories to complete. My biggest gripe with these games, though, is how often they feel empty. Even Breath of the Wild, though unanimously praised for its innovation, didn't have a great "open world." The bulk of interesting map points are tied to aesthetically copy/pasted temples and simple puzzles for minimally rewarding Korok seeds; but this is just to highlight how special it is when an open world game makes the world feel truly realized, and that's probably Hogwarts Legacy's biggest strength.

Exploring the castle grounds and its surrounding areas always feels rewarding and interesting, and it's helped by the uniquely rich world of the Harry Potter universe. As someone who's seen the movies but never really got "into" the whole franchise, I was entranced by all the flora and fauna, all the characters' and their stories, all the background details, and of course all the cool spells you can learn.

Hogwarts Legacy's combat plays like a spellcasting class in Dark Souls, without the tremendous challenge. You lock on to opponents, hit them with combos utilizing your various spells like Incendio to light them on fire or Accio to yank them towards you, and dodge roll or parry their attacks. At its core, HL's combat is simple but once you start unlocking Talents, you can really tailor it to your playstyle. Luckily, despite the late game becoming a bit repetitive, utilizing talents keeps the combat feeling fresh and consistently fun, even if it becomes diminishing returns after a certain point.

The story is intriguing, but it's clear that the game is meant to be played by a younger audience as well. It doesn't go anywhere super controversial or interesting beyond its initial story, but the cast that comprises both the main story and its side quests are all fun and engaging, adding to the beautifully realized world of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, etc.

Graphically, the game really shines and while it likely won't contend with Horizon or The Last of Us for truly mind-blowing, it's incredible how real the world and its inhabitants feel considering how fanciful and magical they all are. You'll get the usual uncanny valley in some facial animations and often hear the same voice lines over and over as you traverse the world, but these are minor gripes for what otherwise feels like a lived-in universe with gorgeous foliage, skyboxes, and of course all the bombastic special effects when the magic starts flying.

Hogwarts Legacy is a win-win: it's the ultimate Harry Potter experience for those who got into the franchise while also being a great introduction to the universe for total newbies. Even without the HP knowledge, it's a fantastic, dense open-world experience that feels as fun as it is to watch and listen. Once you feel the groove in combat, it's hard not to smirk when you take down a troll or an evil wizard with a thunderous bolt of lightning or disarming them and beating them with their own weapons. THIS should be the blueprint for open world games going forward, as well as video game adaptations.

i know its an open world game so running into challenges that are hard makes sense. but i feel like so much game is locked because you don't have certain spells yet even though you get to go everywhere. i was getting locked out of doing things not because im under leveled but the game haven't decided i deserve to yet.

talking about challenges. the difficulty of some of the ones you run into gets a spike and its kind of annoying. even though i am the right level for said challenge. that only goes for the combat challenges. and the combat boils down to simon says but they bombard you with enemies in the later parts of the game. which the auto lock on makes combat more annoying then anything when you have multiple things attacking you.

the game play is good and it looks great. it is still a very fun game but some things can be fixed.

the story hasen't fully grabbed me either. i don't know if its the pacing or they just havent made me feel like there is urgency but its not pulling me in fully. something just feels off.

im still enjoying the game a lot and i do recommend it. i just haven't been fully pulled in emotionally

Hogwarts Legacy is an amazing game. Graphics, gameplay, and the story are all solid. Regardless if you’re a Harry Potter fan or not this game should scratch the itch of an open world adventure by most who play it. I've never been a fan of Harry Potter, but this game is so well done, so immersive and so satisfying that it took me back to my childhood when I first saw the Philosopher's Stone.
The biggest problem that I see sometimes is that you lose the experience because of so much diversity in one place where it is set in 1890. For that they had to make a sequel to the original story.

It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
