    Best it's been since 10. New combat that feels great and a pretty fun story. Only thing that feels lacking is the missing optional bosses and such.

    Amazing game! Only two problems: Performance on the PS5 and the sidequests…other than that its almost perfect. Great combat, nice story, incredible soundtrack, cool characters and beautiful graphics.

    FFXVI offers so much in its captivating story, like-able characters, insane combat, and gorgeous visuals as well as its amazing soundtrack that amplifies every scene. My biggest complaints are probably that loot and the forge feel like an after thought and the side quests take a little too long to get interesting.     A solid FF game. Combat is great and storytelling is superb with lots of cutseens to watch. Despite being used multiple times in multiple iterations there is still the same recognizable FF world building in a new and fresh way. It does well to cater to those that have played for years and those that are new to the franchise which can be hard on its own with how long this series has goneA solid FF game.     I don't know what to say, it's just wonderful. From start to finish, it's epic. The eikons battles, the music, the story, the characters, so much effort was put into it all. It's a polished game made with soul, not without problems, but still.
    P.S. BUT still a 6/10 if you're brain dead, whatever...

    Not sure what all the 0s are about. Oh wait I think I know. This game is a solid 9 for me. It has some flaws but I’m really enjoying the game. The boss fights are absolutely epic and this game is absolutely beautiful. The colors pop and the story is very good. Minus some motion blur issues and the obnoxious way the title for for each chapter pops up and after boss fights this game is excellent.

    Final Fantasy 16 it's: amazing story, interesting characters, awesome boss battles and beautiful locations. I always love FF for their characters.

    Yes, FF16 have bad side quests, where you need just go on location, kill enemy, back to NPC who gave you quest. And yes, there are sometimes some interesting stories in side quests, but there are very few of them

    Final fantasy XVI has a combat reminiscent of Devil May cry but with a game of thrones-like story. The combat may look simple at first but if you try approaching it to be as effective and flashy as you can it can get quite interesting. The story is great. Not the best of the FF franchise but it is up there with the good ones. Graphics are great. The world is beautiful. The music is fantastic.

    Great continuation in the Final Fantasy series. Combat is fun and satisfying, story is gripping and interesting, and the boss battles are spectacular. Highly recommend.

    Just half way through! I really do not nuderstand the negative reviews. It is an amazing experience. I do not give a 10/10 just for the combat as it feels "too much" sometimes, like "feeling dizzy too much". THe rest are amazing. Story, characters etc. I place it among the top 5 FF games.... and trust me I KNOW FF games since 1997.

    Amazing game, the action is great, the music is great, the cutscenes are great, it's a top tier JRPG as FF should be. 9 because it is low on customization which I do enjoy in my games.

    Rare for me to love a game so much that I can tell and see how much room for improvement there is. I overall give it an 8.5 so I'll be rounding up. This game honestly is up there with GoW(2018) for me. The story and characters and world I'll remember for a long time if not for forever and I hope to see more from the ff16 universe even with them saying this is a complete package.     Generaly good overall compared to recent ff releases. Story pacing has highs and lows but sometimes the lows last a bit too long but the highs make up for them.
    Combat is really good, I now prefer the full action combat over the amalgamation of turn based and action they have tried in the past.

I would say wait until price drop. Don't feel like it's worth $70 somehow. Finally I wish they made the story at least more compelling by making it longer..     De los mejores FF desde luego, música, historia, combate, pero también tiene fallos que podrían haber mejorado como sistema de misiones secundarias y no introducir secundarias dentro de la principal por simplemente alargar la historia lo cual hace que en cierto punto se te hace pesado en cierto momento.

    When I first picked up this game, I didn’t really know what to expect. When last I played another Final Fantasy game, it didn’t catch my fancy and I didn’t finish it. However, with XVI, imagine my surprise to how much they have improved and streamlined the experience in a way that made it really enjoyable to play, more so than others. I also found the story to be one of the best in gaming,When I first picked up this game, I didn’t really know what to expect.     This game hooked me story wise just from the short time I had with the demo. Upon playing the main game it is my driving factor. Such a fantastic story so far.. I have not beaten it yet, but I doubt that will change. The combat is not super complex but once you learn it better you can pull off some very cool flashy moves.     3/ Missing some end game dungeon.

    Thoughts:
    I will say I am a seasoned RPG fans and Final Fantasy fans, I am used to SquareEnix changing the formula all the time. So I am feeling fine that they are switching to action focused game play. It plays well and satisfying. Also the story kept me engaged for the hours I spent with the game. I struggle so much during FF15 and FF13.
    This is a great game, it might not be for everyone, but I think fans of FF should kept an open mind and give it a shot.    … Expand

    if you’re a fan of JRPGs strictly for their turn-based combat or loot/party kitting, you will not like this game; however if you’re a fan of JRPGs for their soul and message(s), you’ll love this game like all the others

    Final Fantasy XVI is a bigger success than GoW 2018 in my opinion when it comes to redefining a franchise while keeping the soul in tact

    As a fan of almost every final fantasy game I will say that I love final fantasy 16 the story is great the combat is fantastic and the world is beautiful. It is definitely pretty linear but that doesn't make a game bad.

    I know there have been people complaining about either exclusivity, or the fact that this game is less "RPG" and more Action oriented. I love the new combat design, its fluid, feels impactful and gives you freedom to design your combo/battles the way you want them to be.     Parrying and countering actually rewards you with good punishers.

    You can use Torgal (the dog compaion) to create extensive air combo's to shred through your enemies, you can use him to heal a part of your damaged HP Bar (similiar how agression restores HP in Bloodborne) and you can pet him (big bonus).

    The Story is overall really good. It doesnt stand up to my favorite FF-XIV, but its still a very solid good story. Boss fights feel important, impactful and shows that care has been put into them.

    The only real downside i have is that the early sidequests are really dull, while later on (about 10-20h into the Main Story) they become A LOT, and i mean A LOT, better. They are seriously morbid, and build up the whole notion that the "Bearers" are simple tools for the normal humans to be used, whether this ends up in their death, or not.    … Expand

First off the combat is fun but kind of feels like DMC on easy difficulty or Force Unleashed or the early God of War games it's often a whirling power fantasy, which feels slightly off from the story driven game. Perhaps the FF7 Remake style combat would've been better. As for the story it is darker and deeper and I want to address professional reviews. 1 comment I heard was the lack of diversity well in this game it makes sense given the slavery aspect the bearers face and even having some of the bearers say they would rather stay slaves than join your rebellion would not go over well from a brown person NPC. Also there have been comments about the female characters not being allowed to be strong, well that's just **** the idea in this world magic takes a toll on the user and after 20 years of fighting as Shiva Jill is reaching the end of what her body can take. She is strong and pushes through until the curse nearly kills her. Finally the downsides are the simple subquests they are often fetch quests rather than deep story beats, and early on a cutscene occurs almost every 10 steps. It gets better later, but in the beginning it is full MGS levels of cutscenes.… Expand

    History and characters are very consistent (Clive is one of the best main characters of all franchise) and been linear is a plus.     History and characters are very consistent (Clive is one of the best main characters of all franchise) and been linear is a plus.

    Loved it. Great story, incredible boss fights, and amazing combat. Some of the side quests are pretty boring and the performance mode was trash. If you are a FF or dmC fan, you'll find something to like here.

    The highs of the game are stellar experiences that blew my mind many times over. The story and characters kept me and my wife really hooked to the game all the way through. Battle gameplay was really fun and I found a way to battle that suits my tastes really well.

    What can be improved.. Side quests start slow but gets really good at the end. If only they started well too.
    I think the combat can also be improved with maybe elemental weakness? And more options for weapons

The main plot starts of with political issues, wars because of ressources, a world on the brink due to the Blight, a plague that destroys the land. It gets a lot more supernatural as time goes on and what starts as something we can compare to Game of Thrones, turns into one of the most Final Fantasy stories, not unlike what VI or IX did. The main story is strong, not convoluted, well explained and well written. A great experience from start to finish.

    The characters and their character development is also extremely strong. Main characters have a lot of depth, but also side characters like Gav or even our dog Torgal get a lot of backstory. There are some misses, like Vivian, which has no character arc at all and is just the walking wikipedia of the world.

    The combat feels fast and fresh, overall there are 8 different Eikons, each giving you one basic, three medium and one ultimate skill that you can combine as you like. This offers a lot of combo potential. The combat is definitely more on the fun/power trip side than being hard.

    One of the best features of the game, as in almost every FF, is the soundtrack. It has absolutely amazing arrangements, emotional and powerful parts, some of the best tracks in all of FF.

    On the negative side, we have the quest structure and the RPG systems. There are 70+ sidequests and all of them have the same structure. Talk to quest giver > go to place A (B, C) > random fight > ending dialog. While the writing is great and the substories give a lot of character and world building, having so many of them all gameplay wise being the same and extremely bland feels bad. The same applies to some parts of the main story, where you also do some random fetch quests from time to time. Quest design feels super bad from a gameplay point of view.

    Regarding the RPG systems, they are barely there and it feels like they added them just because they HAVE to be in a Final Fantasy. The sword and armor is basically just „number go higher“ without any actual value or system. Either go full action RPG and scrap that completely, or take a system like FF VII Remake, where you get a weapon from each Eikon, you can power up that weapon to make that Eikons abilities stronger, for example.

Amazing. I just wish that you could play as the other characters. I feel that was a huge missed opportunity. I put 80hrs into this game before I could give my review and I'm glad I waited. If you are like the rest of the gaming community who prefer more action and actual control of your character, this is an easy buy. I'm glad the series has evolved beyond turn based combat.     I'm playing this game since ps1, except ff 11, I played all of them, it's not a 10 compare to final fantasy, also it has some issue with frame rate and it's noticeable, also most of sub quests are not worthy to try, but ff 16 has the best story telling of the history. Another think gameplay isn't like any final fantasy, but it's awesome.

    The good:
    1. The characters. Just Wow. The main cast is amazing and lovable; Clive feels as real as it gets (despite being an overpowered "chosen one" type), Jill is an amazing strong individual that offers a lot more than being "the female lead", Cid is the daddy we all needed, Joshua's influence is felt throughout the story despite what basically takes place during the demo segment and Dion's struggle between his duty and his sense of justice really gets you thinking. The villains are written well too, making you either understand them or enjoy to hate on them, and even the secondary characters have their own story arcs (via sidequests) and are just so well fleshed out that getting lost in their own tales is a bliss.

    2. The story: perfect world building, mostly good pacing, and the ACTIVE LORE SYSTEM is just PERFECT. Did the characters mention a place or a person you're not sure about? Hit that touchpad and read all about them.

    3. Presentation is TOP NOTCH, especially during cutscenes and Eikon battles

    4. Music is amazing. Feels right at home as Final Fantasy OST.

    5. The voice acting. I cannot stress enough how good it is.

    6. Battle system is hella fun

    7. Sidequest storylines are amazing, especially the ones in the last third of the game which provide both background for events that occur and context for the MSQ. Don't miss on them!

    The not as good:
    1. The game is TOO DANG EASY. At first it's not too bad, but by the end of the game I got so overpowered from doing side content that even the S rated hunts were a breeze, let alone the final boss fight. You do have a "hard mode" once you finish it, but WHY? Let us challenge ourselves the first time around!

    2. Animations outside of cutscenes (especially facial animations) are not good, jarring even. You can do better than that, Square.

    3. Performance is bad. I played the game on performance mode and it barely ever hit 60fps, except for combat. Sorry, Square, that is unacceptable for a next-gen only game. I would've played on quality mode if it would've kept the battles at 60fps, but it unfortunately does not.

    4. When doing side quests, party members are completely ignored. Would've added much to the immersion if they actually spoke.

    5. The map could've been bigger

    6. While side quest stories are good, most of them are basic fetch quests. Could've enjoyed some innovation.

    Bottom line, square is on a stride. First FF7R was a blast, now this. Can't wait for Rebirth, and maybe even a story DLC for 16 ;)    … Expand

I will say the game is not perfect, the pacing can be annoying with you killing literal god like figures one sec and the next your collecting some dirt...Overall I had an amazing time with the game, the characters are great and the story knows how to pull at your heart, I will admit I cried at points in the game lol. 9/10 easy… Expand

    Final Fantasy XVI es un juegazo y un gran Final Fantasy. Con este juego han conseguido un sistema de combate adaptado a los tiempos actuales y que se aleja bastante de los turnos de otras entregas, con una jugabilidad propia de los hack and slash tremendamente divertida y que le sienta como anillo al dedo. Si a esto le añadimos que los combates gozan de unas animaciones y de una puesta enFinal Fantasy XVI es un juegazo y un gran Final Fantasy. Con este juego han conseguido un sistema de combate adaptado a los tiempos actuales y que se aleja bastante de los turnos de otras entregas, con una jugabilidad propia de los hack and slash tremendamente divertida y que le sienta como anillo al dedo. Si a esto le añadimos que los combates gozan de unas animaciones y de una puesta en escena buenísimas, hacen del mismo uno de los mejores apartados del juego. La epicidad de los combates también se puede aplicar a las escenas y distintos momentos del juego y han logrado transmitir una intensidad y un éxtasis a la que muy pocos juegos llegan. Todo viene acompañado por una magistral banda sonora compuesta por Soken que me parece de lo mejor que se ha hecho estos últimos años sin ningún tipo de duda (está a la altura de las composiciones de Uematsu y Shimomura). La historia es muy redonda, está muy inspirada en juego de tronos por sus conflictos políticos y ambientación medieval cruda y muy adulta y está llena de momentos inolvidables. Sin embargo, tras la mitad del juego baja algo el ritmo de la narrativa, pero consigue mantenerte enganchado hasta el final. Al sobresaliente argumento hay que añadir los fantásticos e interesantísimos personajes de los que hace gala el juego, la mayoría con arcos sorprendentemente buenos. También me han sorprendido para bien muchas misiones secundarias ya que te contextualizan de una forma muy cercana a la situación del mundo de Valisthea y a sus personajes. En cuanto al apartado gráfico, es de lo más puntero que he visto en la nueva generación, pero es cierto que en modo rendimiento es bastante inestable, por lo que lo he jugado en modo fidelidad (30 fps), que mantenía bastante mejor la tasa de imágenes salvo en momentos muy concretos. El apartado artístico si que me parece espectacular, con escenarios sobrecogedores y un tono medieval que me ha gustado mucho. Debo mencionar también un NPC que me ha parecido interesantísimo ya que te permite acceder a información y resúmenes de personajes y acontecimientos que han ido surgiendo a lo largo de la historia que pueden aclarar muchas cosas que no hayas terminado de entender o que se te hayan olvidado, y me parece un gran añadido. Como puntos negativos debo destacar la pocas recompensas que hay por explorar el mundo, que algunas misiones son algo tediosas y la carencia que hay de elementos RPG, que se ha perdido bastante en esta entrega y aunque haya variabilidad en cuanto al uso de las habilidades podría haber sido algo más elaborado. En conclusión, Final Fantasy XVI está a la altura de los mejores de la saga y lo recomiendo a todos los que queráis gozar de una gran historia. 9,2/10

After playing it to the end I can say that it has it's high and lows, but it keeps the plots and themes consistent throughput.     2. The animation of characters in dialogs is outdated.
    3. Linearity of the narrative.
    4. Little iteractivity when interacting with the environment.
    5. There are no bears in the game and you can't interact with them.

    A treat to play! Final Fantasy 16 is a working video game at launch. Sadly this is something worth mentioning these days. I didn't encounter any bugs or crashes during my full playthrough.
    The combat is so fun! You'll be sure to find abilities for just you. My only criticism is the lack of hard difficulty. The combat and abilities are amazing. The gatekeepers who have been review bombing this game have probably never finished FFTactics and as such have no room to discuss what they think “a true FF game” should be (FF7 original’s ATB system was literally created to make it play more like an action game). The only reason FF games were not action games was because of hardware limitations. FF games have always been about the story, and whatever medium conveys it best. At the time, turn-based RPGs were how you could tell a long, well thought out story…now…its not necessary.

    This games is great but stumbles a little bit here and there but is objectively, without a doubt leaps and bound better than the catastrophe that was FF15 and the snooze fest that was FF13.

    Square has been giving these gatekeeping “turnbased” kids way too much mind and I am glad they finally cut their toxic crap out. They have been holding this series back for years and finally, just like the Eikon phoenix, Final Fantasy has been reborn anew.

    This change was sorely needed and I am glad it happened. Now FF can start to evolve as it should…    … Expand

    The only complaint I have for this game are the side quest, they are bad, useless and don’t add anything. That being said the Main Story is simply amazing, full of surprises well narrated and very long. The graphics look very nice all (yes even with performance mode) specially on combat were is never a fps drop.
