    This game is incredible! One the best final fantasy yet in my opinion. I highly recommend everyone play this game. Ignore all that negative reviews all false this is game of the year for sure best game I ever played best looking title of all time period.

    An amazing story and graphics that drive the series forward in a amazing way. The Side Quests are a step forward for RPG games by immersing you into the lore of the world.

    After playing the demo I pre-ordered it. This is the first time I've ever done it and I'm glad I did. This has an amazing story, fun and complex combat system and amazing music. It ticks all the boxes. This is my Game of the Year. Well Done Creative Business Unit 3!

    The fact that there are so many people hating and haven’t had decency to try the demo or full game giving zero instead of an appropriate score utterly embarrassing, only shows how the excellence of this game is disturbing.     Believe the hype, I was skeptical at first tried the demo, best demo of all time, bought the full game instantly after that experience and you’ll say the same if you tried it.. , I went blindly into Final Fantasy 16 knowing nothing about it except for the trailers of the game.     Like DMC and Metal Gear Rising had a love child, with intense, visceral Kaiju fights thrown in and beautiful cinematics/storytelling for good measure. Been playing since 1995, absolutely my favourite series in gaming, I own so much stuff. I absolutely adore this game. It sits with FF4, FF5, FF Tactics, and FF14 amongst my all    THIS IS THE NEW ORDER OF FINAL FANTASY! ABSOLUTELY HYPE!

    - The combat is fun if you give it a proper chance, learn the combos, and utilize the different tools you're provided with. You can finish the entire game spamming square, just as you can finish any turn-based FF spamming basic attack, if you hate yourself.
    - Eikon battles are kept simple, but as the big spectacles they were advertised to be.     - Clive is an incredibly well-developed main character that I loved from the very early parts of the game through to the end.
    - Side-quests are world-building extensions. They range from fetch quests to interesting lore tidbits. Entirely skippable if they're not your thing. Some have a very good story.
    - Played through the entire game on graphics mode and it looked amazing. Can't comment on performance mode.
    - I do have nitpicks about the game, but they didn't take away any enjoyment while playing. Such as:
    - magic-system could be more expansive,
    - You have party members by your side most of the time, you just can't control them. More banter would've been nice.
    - Few incentives to explore, but it is possible to do so.    … Expand

    The story is pretty good with awesome characters, that are so iconic as Auron, Cid(FF7), etc.
    The game soundtrack doesn't disappoint bringing ones of the best OST since FFX and one of the best of the franchise.
    For me the only issue that really exists is the lack of exploration, since in fact the rewards are bad and you do not feel really rewarded for exploring every corner of the map. Sidequest are ok, people always complain about most being fetch quests, but they are exactly the same people who play hours of MMO's with the exactly same issues.
    FF saga clearly is changing, and im ok with that if they bring a good story, OST and gameplay.
    My real score is 9/10, but to opposite the agenda that is being made against the game im giving a 10/10.    … Expand

    The unique focus of this game series They maintain their standards well. Both the story that is heavy and full Both are profound both dark drama and happy hope The background music is excellent, the price is reasonable, the fighting scenes are fun and exciting. The cutscenes also played background music that fit the story.

    There may be some drawbacks. For example, the frame rate will drop slightly in some cutscenes. or gameplay that is not extreme to one side may not be liked by fans extreme from both the turn-based and action sides.

    I personally believe this game has the ability to be GOTY, but it would be difficult. Because this year's competitors look very strong, for best score and music, I think this game must be received for sure XD.    … Expand

    Best mainline offline final fantasy game in a decade. Spectacular action, design and story, plus they actually finished the game this time! Has to be said that for all their faults, Square Enix are on fire with this beloved franchise at the moment. Bring on FFVII Rebirth!

    This is actually a REALLY Easy Fix....Play the Demo...it is the First 2 Hours of the Game plus a Taste of the Combat later on....I literally had No Intention of purchasing FF16, skipping a Mainline entry for the 1st time since i started playing FF...then I played the Demo...that sold me.

    This game was a breath of fresh air for Final Fantasy. I think that their decision to progress to a full action rpg while divisive, was a good call. Do I wish they would do a mix? Perhaps make final fantasy games of both types over time? Yes. But all in all for this game? I think it worked well. The story beats were stellar. The characters were wonderful. It seems that most of the reviews that are negative tend to bash sony/claim its bad with no reason/ and many just outright exclaim in their review they haven't even played the game.

    For those reading this that are confused. I would normally give this game a 9 or 8 at the very lowest. But I do not want people scared away from this game due to a hatemob of those who have not even played it. Reviews of zero I can't even take seriously yet there are tons of them on here.

    Play the game for yourself, or at the very least try the demo before deciding. Watch a critic that you like. But don't go off of these skewed averages as they are not at all indicative of the actually quality.    … Expand

    So far 10hrs into the game. Not even done yet, it's always recommended to play everything it offers, even if the side quest are off putting from the start. But there is surprises. Final fantasy 16 however, is a very very dark game. You'll feel more anger in the game, more and more you'll bear with clive journey of a ungrateful world it is.    … Expand

    As an 35 years old FF veteran, who loved all previous FF games, im beyond amazed, how hateful are people nowadays, i feel sorry for anyone giving this game 0, because theres no justification for that even, if you are not fan of franchise. For me this is best ff game since ff 10 . Period.

It has pain, sorrow, loss, development, tragedy, epic soundtrack, memorable moments and battles, and a complete understanding of what Final Fantasy is all about. Yes, combat is action oriented. That does NOT change the core elementI have played and completed every Final Fantasy game including spinoffs and sequels, and 16 feels like the most “complete” entry since 12 and the best since 9. It has pain, sorrow, loss, development, tragedy, epic soundtrack, memorable moments and battles, and a complete understanding of what Final Fantasy is all about. Yes, combat is action oriented. That does NOT change the core element of the series. Times change and so should we. It is innovative and fun. Favorite entry since 9. Thank you Yoshida and company for a well made and truly special masterpiece of a game. By the way, those upset about it not being turn based, Octopath Traveler exists.… Expand

    I am 20 hours in, but I thought I'd leave a review after seeing this game being review bombed, the fact you can pet the Torgal means it should be a 10. Seriously though, the people saying it's only 2 buttons either don't know what they're talking about or have the accessories on that basically turns the game into easy mode, either way, the combat is as complex as you make it. The characters are incredible, the standout, besides Clive of course, is Cid, but I have to also mention Jill as she is a great side character as well. The side quests are hit or miss, but they're not shoved in your face, although there are these plus sign quests that unlock things, you don't have to do them, but I suggest you do because the things you unlock are very useful, at least the three I have done so far. The OST is top tier, all the boss battles I've done have had banger music so far. Speaking of boss battles, the eikon battles are epic, I thought they would be extremely gimmicky, and in a way they are, but the way they are handled and used sparsely, I personally don't think it detracts from the fights

    As for cons, the story takes a few hours to build, and with so many cutscenes, it could seem like a chore for some people. The lip syncing in some parts are not great. It takes around 5 or so hours to get to the point where it opens up, and even when it does, there's no real incentive to go exploring. Gear doesn't seem very important, you will be changing your gear a lot.

    I'm not a series fan but FF16 created a magical world and gave me incredible experience during Eikon fights in the last 50 hours. Brightly colored hdr scene and impassioned music really brought that beautiful world to me.

Along with NPCs that unlock along the way with the sole purpose of collecting and explaining lore about the world and it's characters. As a fan of darker stories such as Nier: replicant, drakengard and berserk. I find the story here has some comparisons to them without being too dark and heavy. The game knows when to break up these dark and depressing moments without making light of the situation and keeping the gravity of each situation intact. The characters are memorable and well written and certainly have a little sprinkle of past Final Fantasy titles in them, it feels like a natural progression of final fantasy. Graphics: The PS5 works well for this title. Square-Enix have been known to push boundaries of a consoles capabilities in the past, while many game companies now can make beautiful games I wouldn't say this one is lacking either. The magic effects and background scenery are truly breathtaking at times while the backdrop of villages and towns feel somewhat familiar to some I've walked through in real life. Music: Soken has done it again. Incredible sounds of choirs for massive moments, single guitars for quiet moments and even more electronic sounds for SPOILER. Final fantasy xiv fans will be pleased to hear one or two little moments that sound familiar to them but don't get me wrong this isn't just FFXIV with a bit extra. There's an entire new feel for this title and the battle themes will stay stuck in your head. Honestly cannot wait for the soundtrack to be released. Overall: everyone has their right to a personal opinion but it's just that. Personal. My favourite final fantasy games are: FFVI,FF:TACTICS, FF:CRYSTAL CHRONICLES, FFIX, FFXIV and now this is on that list FFXVI. Everything works wonderfully to draw you into this realm, not all of us old players of Final Fantasy are sour and wishing for the old days. I embrace all the new final fantasy fans this title will bring and I'm thankful to the team who brought this to us. If you want to play an older final fantasy they all still exist and you are free to play them at any point but I feel if you are expecting the exact same as 10,20,30 years ago then you might just benefit from embracing something new for a change.     I have been anticipating this game for quite a while now and being 48% through the game I can say it has not been a let down so far.

    First off, the game is absolutely gorgeous. The graphics are amazing, and each different country you visit has a massive difference in scenery which keeps it fresh and exciting.     First off, the game is absolutely gorgeous. The graphics are amazing, and each different country you visit has a massive difference in scenery which keeps it fresh and exciting. The music you hear really adds to it, and I am absolutely in love with some songs already. There's a mix of songs you expect to hear in a RPG and some unexpected but still absolutely amazing songs keeps every boss fight fun.

    While the different types of modes is something that has not often been seen before, I do like the idea behind it. Yes, you can decide to equip all the timely accessories if you know combat is just not your thing, making it so you truly have to press one button to get through fights. But, if you're up for a bit more of a challenge or want to experiment more yourself, you can mix and match to find out what your best pick is. For example, I only use the ring for Torgal cause I know otherwise I might have difficulty remembering everything. It's useful, and keeps my gameplay fun!

    On the subject of fights, the Eikon battles I have done so far are truly something else. You never know what to expect beforehand, and sometimes the over the top attacks make you sit at the edge of your seat. They keep it exciting and fresh with cinematic strikes and dodges, making you feel like you're really doing the fight even though it has a cutscene vibe around it.

    The story is one that I find absolutely amazing. It starts off in a way you expect after the demo, but the further you get into the story more twists and turns reveal itself. Some expected, some unexpected. There have been times I have been shouting at my screen for something I did not expect happening and truly taking me by surprise.

    The side quests are an absolutely must do. While they might look like simple quests, they are essential for the lore building and give you an insight on how the people live inside this world, what their opinions and culture are. Some are absolutely heart breaking, others just really cute and a good time.

    The ATL is something I find super useful in cutscenes. If you do not want it, you do not need to use it. Everything is explained later on, but if you are really, really curious about something the characters mention it is there for you to read up on and get even more immersed. I feel it allows the characters in the game to really talk about what is going on with the knowledge they should have instead of overexplaining everything for the sake of the player.

    Some additions later on in the game that I do not want to spoil add to this, allowing you to read more about the lives, opinions and allegiances you have with characters. Again, if you just want to rush the game for the sake of completing it you do not have to do it, but to me it all adds to the experience and immersion.

    All in all, I find this game an amazing game I keep coming back to and can't wait to see what happens next. It might not be to everyone's tastes, but I implore everyone to think critically about the 0 reviews. This game is doing an amazing job of telling a story which has different layers and does not try to hide the more dark sides of the world of Valisthea.

    I have 2 minor points that annoy me sometimes, but are in no way a reason for me to look at the game in a bad light. Motion blur cannot be turned off (yet), and while it is not always noticable it is something they should patch in cause I always turn it off in my games as soon as I can.

    The audio balance between cutscenes, or just roaming the world and battles is a bit weird at times. The battles are so much louder I have to tell my friends I cannot hear them at the moment. At the same time, it does give you an extra layer of immersion. So like I said it is not exactly things to look at the game in a bad light, just slight things that might annoy you at certain points.    … Expand

I have played every single final fantasy and kingdom hearts game on their original console to even re buying the games for my mobile phone. This game has implemented all the games they have done in the past 9-10 installments. From how it traverses the game to its combat. The story has been a breath of fresh air as it starts in a darker fantasy world similar to ffxiv shadowbringer and endwalker. The travel of this game reminds me of the classic final fantasy 10 where you are in segments but it still has an open travel for the full world. This give the game a less bloated feel like most other open world games where it has something to do just to have something to do at every five pixels. I was one of the few that enjoyed 15 but I’m glad that I’m not the only one that enjoys 16 I have loved playing this game and all that it has to offer as a gaming experience. I’m also really happy that they announced it’s an actual finished game upon release. With no patch 1.01 that I got for issues that usually occur during other game releases. I hope that 16 will have installments similar to 7,10, and 13. I’m excited to see what else they can cook up with this story.… Expand

    Good game, second half of the game is incredible, first half had some frame issues and some pacing issues(filler quests). But the second half redeemed the game for me, and ending was pretty good. Combat was at first easy but the later parts of the game demanded full attention and proper use of abilities to effectively kill enemies.     This game is great ! Story is good, characters are interesting. Combat is fun, and it doesn’t feel repetitive. Eikon’s battles are EPIC. Performance dip’s sometimes but that has to be the only negative point i found regarding performance with FFXVI. The loot system + money spending is kind of useless in this game, but im sure they will fix it in future updates.

    Por último debo decir que Square va por buen camino, aunque extrañe los combates por turnos, (aunque sea los pudieron poner opcionales y que fueran al estilo Persona pero con la escencia de final fantasy ) este nuevo modelo de combate me parece bueno, no tan genial como DMC pero es cumplidor, y Clive es un personaje de los que vas a Amar un gran héroe, en resumen yo si recomiendo el juego es de lo mejor del año para jugar.

    Long time fan of the franchise and have to say it's up there with the bests. Storytelling, characters, and world building is fantastic, which is to be expected from CBU3. Combat is a good change of pace and is fun and addictive.

    Great game! I’m about 35 hours in and can’t get enough of it. Great graphics and tremendous story! Gameplay is action packed and crisp. Very enjoyable experience.

    One of the best Final Fantasy games to-date, the combat is engaging, world exploration is fun and all the side quests are filled with great story. The game has a ton of FF14 references to enjoy as well as a darker tone to it’s grand adventure. 10/10 Final Fantasy experience.

    Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
