It's a mediocre game compared to the first one. Despite a few improvements to parkour, the first game is better in almost every way. The game's optimization is awful, it requires a high-end pc, but it doesn't even deliver the next-gen graphics to justify it. Forgettable.

    Too much HUD elements!
Why these modern games have so much HUD elements? It's atrocious.
I suggest we start a real campaing for LESS HUD IN GAMES. Who's with me?

Rarely has my opinion of a video game changed as much as I did with Dying Light 2. By the first act, I honestly thought I had a contender for a 90's rating. World building, characters, decisions, massive fights and the parkour system really convinced me at first.

But the longer the season dragged on, the more the framework collapsed. Very little is made of characters and world.

But the longer the season dragged on, the more the framework collapsed. Very little is made of characters and world. Fighting just lacks the variety to keep you entertained over the long gameplay, and parkour became rather exhausting for me (since I assigned all areas to the Peacekeepers).

But the worst part is the story. Rarely has there been such a soulless protagonist who literally stumbles helplessly from one boring event to the next. For me personally, Dying Light 2 is unfortunately a missed opportunity. Because if Techland had built on the good foundation of Act 1, we would have had the first hit of the year

This is an open world first person zombie game that took me about 20 hours to complete, and can be played wit up to 4 players co op… Youre a night runner, youre infected early on in the game which adds a layer of tenseness to the game which I loved, Theres a timer when youre in buildings or running around at night that have hav to keep filled with UV lights or the the sun so you don’t turn into a zombie.. this mechanic was never annoying.. in fact I never ran out of time, but I appreciate the level of immersion there… bevasue sadly this mechanic is where the immersion ends.. Like the original Dying light the world here just doesn’t feel lived in… it’s a mess zombie playground but even more lifeless than last time.. .a generic game world feel rather than again feeling like a world that used ti be brimming with life… I did love exploring the buildings during the main story missions, but nothing ever enticed me to seek things out on my own.. no addictive hook when it came to loot as every weapon breaks, theres nothing cool to find in this world, so why bother? Why not just stick to this super boring story? Which is what I did… One thing Dying Light 2 improved on is the flow of the parquor… It still needs works, its still frustrating at times, but it miles better than the original… and the combat is great too.. I loved getting into fights with my modded weapons, however the enemies this time around feel kind of brainless and just in the way rather than a threat like the past game.. and my biggest complaing.. I absolutely hated the second half of the game… running around in Dying Light 2 just isn’t fun… its not.. I feel like Im the only person who feels this way and I have no idea how.. I died more trying to get from point a to b, than I did the enemies once I finally got to the mission…
I would love a more mirrors edge / modern assins creed style system in the future because I dreaded having to run through this city in the second half.. I didn’t mind the first half of the game where building were low and close like an old school assassins creed game, but the larger city.. awful…
Overall Dying Light 2 is a fine game, its good, the combat is great, but the loot system is a disappointment and the story is just bad, it is.. I was non invested in the world at all…
Youll have fun going through the campaign, its just a shame nothing in the world entices you to explore or to care…
I give Dying Light 2: Stay Human
    a 7/10

I gave it 8 not 10 because of some glitches and some repetitive side quest (which game isnt? I know there are some game like Elder Scroll has excellent side quests but its not really apple to apple comparison). Overall, it is a very enjoyable game, especially exploring the city and tunnels, it almost bring up the insomnia of the fallout 3 memories.

    STORY:
Techland just refuses to admit they're no good at storytelling. They already failed in making a compelling liniar story in the first game, what made them think a story with choices (which is far more demanding) was gonna work out any better? The story was unbearable to get through ontop of such garbadge voiceacting. Why would I care for how much choices I have when I don't care about anything going on? Take "The walking dead" season 1&2 by Telltale games for example, which btw its sole gamemechanic is choices, I very much enjoyed these games. Despite having barely any of its choices truly matter I still enjoyed every opertunity I got to invest in it's story, because I CARED FOR IT. Not for Dying light. Do NOT BUY for its story.

    OPEN WORLD/ EXPLORATION:
Here I can see people argue there has been improvements. For me, overall it's a strong NO. The open world has more fun layouts for you to interact with as you parkour, yes but there are no fun encounters, sidequests or gratifying loot to find. It was just no fun whatsoever to explore.
Weapons break so fast you don't even care when you find a ledgendary weapon, and where the hell did all the weapon blueprints go?! That was my favorite loot in the first game!

    GRAPHICS:
Who cares? It's Dying light, it has never been at the forefront for this game. Gameplay and exploration is what makes or breaks in this game. Graphics has been improved no doubt, but nothing to be competing with other triple-A-games in the industry. So if you're expecting great improvements in the looks department after 7 years from its predecessor you're out of luck.

The combat was OK, and the enemies weren’t too bad- except the last boss. I had a pretty good ending on my run through. I spent nearly 32 hours with the game without doing any side quests. Overall, I recommend the game and I can see myself playing it again maybe in another year or so. I’d give it an 9/10 or 4/5. I don't know why this game is getting all the hate. Expand

I am surprised to be honest at the "0" reviews here. This game real strength was its game play....it kept my interested the whole time. Story wasnt bad and voice acting was decent with good graphics. The only complaint I have is the dialog in the game can be a little long. This was overall a good game!

Story is eh but I definitely did laugh throughout of alot of it the characters aren't as compelling as the first game. But they get the job done. There is definitely alot to do in the game despite some **** being recycled. Gear system is pretty good I kinda prefer this weapon system over the first game. I feel like when more content comes out for this game it's gonna be a underrated gem. As for the zombies they don't have alot of variety but the first game kinda didn't also. So I can genuinely deal with it. Violatiles are still present but in night zones and with the chase meter. Imo the chase meter is awesome and definitely gives me that scare adrenaline as the first game but I also wish violatiles was present at night standing around with the howelers it would make it way more intimidating to touch the ground. I haven't ran into gamebreaking bugs yet I'm.on ps5 but I have ran into two bugs battle music audio and howler being frozen. Overall I highly recommend this game. But definitely wait for a couple patches for the best experience for some. For people who don't have issues like myself enjoy.

The game looks fine, generally runs well with just a few minor frame rate drops and pop-ins, and the parkour is great fun and really rewarding when done right. But after the initial fun of running and jumping over the rooftops, or gliding around the city, the game loses its shine.
The story is not particularly engaging, but it is OK, serves its purpose I guess, and if I had stuck with just the story, I may have enjoyed the game better, but I do love me a good side quest.
Unfortunately, I have yet to find a good side quest here, and don't get me started on the parkour challenges. "I need you to deliver some honey in less that 1 minute 30 seconds because..." is not great writing.
Sure, put challenges in, but cut the nonsense diatribe that you have to listen to these dull ass NPC's spout.
So, I ignored most of the parkour and combat challenges and stuck to normal side quests, but even they are so damned dull.
For example "Book Club". 10 missions I think it was of going to X, find some books, return to the PK library. 10 times! The exact same mission, 10 damned times. It was so boring, but when you've done the first 3, you feel you should see them out.
Other great missions include: Find a scarf that blew away. Deliver some letters (also 10 times). Talk to a girl about plants.
    Jeez they are not good.

The game is also buggy as hell.
Para-glider fails to open, so you mash the square button until it finally deploys. Missions that have been completed staying on the map. "Double Time" I have completed 3 times, but it fails to register as complete. I've been stuck on scenery, died by being hit through walls by an NPC I couldn't see, had small boss style encounters where my weapon would magically go through them and cause no damage, other bosses that commit suicide before I could even lay a hand on them. (One Renagade camp leader first set fire to himself by walking into a brazier and then fell off a roof).
I unlock metro stations to fast travel and when I travel there I get a message saying I'm in a dark zone, which I'm clearly not because I've unlocked the station.
I then did a 2 player session and when I returned to my game, some of the things I had unlocked for one faction seemed to now belong to another faction, as that was what was in my friends game.
You get given missions, but then do a story mission, and all the side quest missions you had just disappear because the story moves on too far for them to be completed.

I also think I was expecting this to be a zombie survival game (I didn't play DL1) so I was also a bit surprised that I ended up just ignoring all of the zombies and running around the city. They are basically no threat at all unless you meet a boss fight zombie.
Humans are the real threat, but by the time I reached the level 5 zones, I was so overpowered, they were nothing more than inconveniences. The combat is quite fun though, its pretty basic, but the joy of cutting some poor soul in half or beheading them with a well timed strike is entertaining.
So, to sum up, Parkour is fun, it looks quite pretty at times (but its no Horizon FW for sure) and the combat with human Renegades can be entertaining for a bit. But man, it is bloated with absolutely terrible side quests.
They put a tweet out saying it would take 500 hours to see everything in the game, collect every item, do every challenge. After 40 hours, I was forcing myself to go back in just to finish the story. There is no way I could face this for 100 hours, let alone 500.
I would recommend looking for this in a deep sale, like €20, and then just stick to the main story, that way it will likely be a lot more fun that

Dying Light 2: Stay Human looks more like a DLC to the first game than a whole new one. This does not mean it is a bad game, but it is not one that you should rush to buy. It looks and feels like you are playing the same Dying Light from years ago, and despite the storytelling being solid and entertaining, it is not enough to justify buying it right now.

Delivering a huge improvement on the first title, but lacking with new features, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is quite fun, brutal, rewarding and a game of exceptional quality when it comes to the open world. Dying Light 2 ups the ante from the original in almost every way, offering more satisfying parkour, combat and enough jump scares to make you never want to walk in the darkness ever again. A worthy and essential sequel.
