What the dev's did to this game was pretty much nerf all the fun out of it. I keep replaying the scene in Star Wars were Obi-Wan says to Anakin, you were suppose to bring balance, not leave it in darkness. This is what happens when the Dev's do not listen to the community.

The game had potentially. Then the Blizzard Development Team decided to remove what little fun the players had in an attempt to balance their terrible choices. Now I feel as if I have to wait for the "Reaper of Souls" expansion.

I have no reason to play ever again thanks to Blizzard’s idea of making this a live service online only. It got boring really quickly when 99% loot is vendor trash. So much lack of content once you’ve beaten the campaign. I once had faith in this game when they listened and increased EXP gains much higher in nightmare dungeons. YET they release this patch and did a 180, making grinding/leveling that much more difficult!! If they wanted to gut all the fun from the game, why release it with all the stuff they took away from their players, which was subpar to begin with….? Where’s all the cool uniques, aspects, build variety … or anything for that matter? The 1.1 patch clearly demonstrates Blizz does not respect your time or any actual player feedback. Expand

The thing is, diablo 4 was fun at first, until the dev team decided to slowly wreck everything up with either their ego or just pure stupidity. Diablo is fun due to its versatility on builds and items crafting/ hunting and also its level grind was bearable. Some how they manage to burry the game slowly with each patch, what a joke. What's need to be fix were constantly ignored while implementing nerfs on unneeded segments is pure JOKE, not sure the dev team trying to clown us or themselves at this point. Builds were suppose to be working from every classes are not working correctly ( they dont fix **** on every goddamn patch they impose, all they do is nerfing something else ) , zero quality of life ( even after tons of recommendation from users/ actual players have suggested ) they seems to be blind on this one, and finally it came to its glorious 1.1 patch, downright the most **** if not one of the patch in arpg history in recent years. You strip the fun out of the game you bunch of stubborn mules, why make a patch focusing to slow the entire game down? Nerf on exp gain, damage, affixes, armor, damage reduction and etc, like seriously? We were asking for endgame content, slowing the game down wasnt a content ffs, not at all. You guys dont like seeing people having fun is that it? or is it just a scheme to make the progress of season one direly slow so it would force people to do ingame purchase to level up the seasonal pass level? The list goes on but if you think nerfing the game on every patch is the way to keep the game going, well good luck on that, effing mules. Expand

Game was phenomenal with the original intent and design, but after a recent patch, the intent by the developers is to drive people away from the game to lower server populations with blanket reductions to capabilities, introducing class breaking flaws instead of providing corrections. Just another corporate money grab at this point. What a shame.

This game has a tons of issues need to be addressed. But Blizzard chose to ignore them, ignore the pains of players. They don't priority the problem solving, and even made some most critical ones worse. That is ridiculous. I never saw any company like Blizzard lacking of customer care.

Rated a 1 for the campaign, which is pretty decent. But that goes quick, and the midgame/endgame is abysmal, with seemingly no improvements on the horizon.

The way Blizzard treats players reminds me of an abusive spouse. They’ll shower you with small “gifts”, then knock you around a little bit to put you in your place, then they’ll say sorry and act like they’ve changed, only to hit you

The game forces users to be online with the perception that it's closer to an MMO than an ARPG, yet provides no incentives and a non-existent social elements, I have played every day until launch and not once talked to another player, we just usually pass each other by, the only time we might be doing the same thing is for a world boss or hell tide event in the open world then disappear never to be seen again, the game might as well have an offline mode as that is 99% of the experience. Add on top of that the frequent bugs, lag from being forced to play online and developers that clearly do not play the game and nerfing and taking away the little fun that was to be had I would not recommend wasting $70 on this. I thought it wouldn't be fair to leave my score as a 0 since they seem to be actively trying. There is still a far way to go with this game and I hope Blizzard gets community feedback before presenting future patches which will avoid issues going forward.

This game started out really good and I had high expectations. I cannot believe the developers are trying to ruin everything at the start of season one. It’s best to move onto other titles as I don’t feel confident that the current team they have for Diablo 4 understand player wants. They don’t respect our time and actually listen to our feedback.

To make matters worse, Diablo 4 managed to strip away the essence of an action role-playing game, delivering a hollow experience without real action or satisfying looting mechanics. The lack of engaging combat and rewarding loot progression leaves players questioning what happened to the beloved franchise they once knew. It's a disheartening departure from the very core that made Diablo games legendary, leaving fans yearning for the days of true action and meaningful loot drops.

I always loved Diablo. Diablo IV doesnt feel like Diablo anymore, it is MMO and ARPG mixed, both genres with endless content, but the game doesnt have any content. You are done in 2-4 weeks and bored. You could say the game is new, but the season 1 patch truly showed their real intention. There is not 1 thing that makes the game better in anyway in season 1. You GET MORE damage, you DOI always loved Diablo. Diablo IV doesnt feel like Diablo anymore, it is MMO and ARPG mixed, both genres with endless content, but the game doesnt have any content. You GET MORE damage, you DO LESS damage, you take MORE TIME for the same thing. You are FORCED to do Openworld time restricted; helltides and they made it worse, taking you longer to get what you are there for. Nightmare Dungeons do not make any sense because you dont get XP and you dont have a reason to do that when your glyphs are max level (content missing here too)
The pinnacle boss cannot be beaten with every class or build, you will need the right build to be able to stand a chance. Thats actuallly ok, but not good design.
They lack several QoL features, even essential ones iike seing the possibilities of stats you could get or even showing numbers how high (funny that this is the core mechanic of fun; gearing up)

Forcing Online Mode is useless, you see others but never do anything with randoms.
They changed several things with XP which didnt make any sense, i was 100 in 3 weeks and they still buff it sometimes (or now nerf it)
They dont know what do to. They didnt add anything exciting to season 1.

Uniques in D4 are mostly trash because they have fixed stats you cant get lucky to get good stats. Most uniques have useless stats and are really just TRASH. (even meme legendary effects...)

All classes have barely no skill decision and are forced to use more defensive skills which makes all builds the same.

NM dungeons have stupid affixes, thats a game design choice, but it is not really cool or clever.
For example a lightning which kills you across the map if you are not inside a bubble, you cant split your team to be faster because you might kill your friend. Or the whole team dies because you rush the dungeon and cant go back because of a ladder (good job)

The game had to be at such a high price, because my standard skins look EXACTLY the same like the ones i can buy for 20 euro and no one ever buys this "cosmetics"
Im totally real this shop is the worst skin shop I've ever seen.

I don't mind the grinding out levels to get to max level, but the experience gain is crap it takes too long and seems to take so long as there is no real end game experience.
Level scaling sucks, you never really feel like being overpowered. When your meant to be a lone hero fighting the monster of hell.
MMO experience is nonexistence it leaves you asking why is this in the game?
Dungeons are all the same, kill all enemies or find and place an item on a pedestal.
The eternal realms have been nerfed to balance the season, so if you don't play the season prepare to be underwhelming.
Loot drops are like seeing a box of crispy cream droughts only to find some funny bastard has switched the doughnuts for vegetables and opening chests that you would think should be dropping amazing loot disappoints.
When legendries drop most of the time you end up salvaging it as you have so little stash space, so pick a build a stick to it and hope Blizzard don't take the nerf bat to it.

This was such a great game until Blizzard lost their nerve with the 1.1 patch. Before the grind was fun, now it is tedious. Running dungeons with a good team was as much fun as you can have with your clothes on pre-patch, but despite having built in incentives to create certain kinds of builds, the devs have nerfed anything that is even moderately successful. So more like purgatory than hell, now!

In nearly 30 years since Diablo was introduced it seems Blizzard hasn't learned what's good from previous Diablo games and what's bad. I don't believe I could have hand selected worse or more unfun features. (1) None of the quality of life things from D3 exist. (2) There's 0 end game. (3) You won't be able to just try out new fun builds, because switching takes hours of gold saving monotonous clicking paragon points. (4) There's too many useless secondary stats so 99.9999% of gear that drops is useless. It's very common to hear people not updating a single piece of gear from levels 75-90 because upgrades are so rare. (5) Dev teams provided so little content for the game they are nerfing XP to try and slow the game down to make it artificially last longer. (6) Constant nerfs, not just to damage but things like cool down reduction make the game feel more turn-based than "action" rpg, you'll spend time standing around waiting for cooldowns in-between packs. (7) Nightmare dungeons are so poorly designed you often spend time backtracking in them because of poor layout. (8) Uniques required for certain builds (not Uber uniques) have been know to just not drop at all for the entire level experience from 1-100. You may see a specific druid build you want to try but never in month of leveling from 1-100 ever see that item needed for that build. (9) Rerolling stats on gear is prohibitively costly so even a piece of near perfect gear with 1 bad stat often has to be thrown away. (10) Tomorrow's fireside chat that Blizzard has announced after the immediate backlash to S1 patch will 100% be them just telling players that players are and devs are right and devs know what's best, when it's clear none of them have played the game past level 25.

For these 10 reasons do not play Diablo 4, and do not pre-order any Blizzard game ever again.

The game was quite OK, good story, a few nice hotfixs from devs that would listen to their players. The endgame was lacking and the game redundant after lvl80 but the future was promising
Then for season 1 they decided to destroy everything. Players wanted more endgame content, devs decided to end the game.

However, the initial execution, with substantial balancing patches within weeks of release, makes you wonder what testing Blizzard did from a player perspective and whether they rushed release for some unknown reason. Also, repeated stealth changes not mentioned in any patch notes makes you wonder why there is selective transparency from Blizzard.

The game is aimed at the causal player base, evidenced in a lack of build diversity for anyone who wants to invest time in exploring possibilities.

The ‘fun factor’ of the game has been significantly impacted by repeated changes (no more so than by patch 1.1.0 release just prior to the game’s first season - which significantly weakens every character). This is a slap in the face to anyone who has invested time - causal or hardcore - in building up and refining their choice of character.

The message is that the player base is beta testing a game they payed for - which should have been a lot for definite and polished upon release.

The huge swings in character power are off putting and make anyone think ‘why invest time now in building up a character?’, as if this pattern continues your fav build today could be turned upside down tomorrow. This degree of unpredictability and surety is not fun.

The changes implemented also ignore major quality of life changes the community have been crying out for (Storage space is at a minimum to encourage grinding, lack of interesting endgame, leaderboards, separate gem tabs….the list goes on).

Many of the most recent patch changes (1.1.0) are aimed at slowing the game down to make progressing take longer - keeping players in the game and adding incentive to play Seasonal content - of which even more can be charged for the Battlepass (following many spending 70 - 100 dollars / pounds for the game on release). Blizzard need to stop thinking like a corporate body and return to their roots of a gaming company - making ‘fun’ for their player base their top priority.

I would suggest staying clear of this one until the game is in more of a stable state with the player experience being the paramount objective.

The developers are so far removed from their own game they have no idea what is going on.

They can't fix certain bugs but then and ruin other actual mechanics meant for the game because they can't figure out their own mistakes.

The developers sealed the fate of D4. What was meant to be an all-time great game will go down in flames if nothing is changed.

Developers didn't like the power levels attained by players so they did a class-wide nerf instead of making us higher tiered and more powerful content.
The players are suffering now for the lack of creativity of the developers and their laziness to put out more content.

The devs should be happy and proud their playerbase well-exceeded their expectations, but instead they are penalizing us to slow our progress because they don't want to have to come up with more/challenging content. Rather than rise to the challenge and make more content than they anticipated, they just nerfed everyone to set us back to what their predicted schedule was. It was a garbage move and they will ultimately pay for it. I as well as other friends are already losing interest and deciding which game to jump to next.

Main campaign was ok (ish). Average story with great visuals and poor mechanics. End game was a bit of a grind, lots of repetitive mob/dungeons for little (or often no) meaningful reward. In an attempt to kill the still-in-its-infancy main campaign, and drive players into paid for seasons, the latest patch effectively makes the grind even harder, slower, and less rewarding. Save your money on a company that cares about it their game and playerbase. Expand

Season 1 patch just ruined the game for many many people. Maybe they should listen to the community, to the actual players who play their damn game next time.

However, the quality of hack and slash games especially in an ARPG like Diablo 4 itself does not lie in the amount of mobs appearing and being killed, rather its how you kill them and the enjoyment you get from exploring, completing quests or dungeons, and enjoying the leveling while killing these mobs. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 fails at all of this. Leveling is quite a drag for the casual player and hardcore gamers have to put in some crazy hours to min-max for a boss that is seemingly unbeatable by the vast amount of the player base (Uber Lilith). Although there are many dungeons and wonderful graphics and cut-scenes the game will leave you wondering "What's the point?". With no endgame content, horrible itemization, no in-game LFG, no re-rolling of skills without insane currency spending, bugs, unbalanced classes, lack of true customization of the character (Skills, abilities, cosmetics), a full game price, and of course, with the 1.1 patch this game is truly something to just never spend your money on. The worst patch in video game history, what a waste of time. Was already getting bored with the grind and then they make every aspect of the game worse.

Played the game, liked it. Devs are now forcing you to participate in their seasons mechanic and try to get you to buy a $20 battle pass for a game that already cost you $70 when you just bought it.

I would consider myself a "dedicated player" but not hardcore or twitch/youtuber. I can put 20+ hrs into a game per week, easy. Took the plunge and bought the game for my PS5. Have been really enjoying the story, gameplay and even the graphics and art are more inline with newer games for this generation. This game pulled me away from Destiny 2, which I have been playing for years. Dozens of members of my Destiny guild, and family members and other friends have shifted to Diablo to play. We were really looking forward to playing the new season, despite having to start over with a new character. Worked hard to open map, complete renown(statues) and level at least to 70 on 1 character to get the feel of the game. The latest 1.1 pre-season patch has literally gutted the game for me and all the people I play with. Some have outright stopped playing and are just done. Others have moved to other games, saying they will just skip season 1 hoping Blizzard gets their brain back and fixes all of the bad decisions they made with this patch. No amount of Season 1 content will make up for nerfing characters damage by 50% or more, making defense so much weaker in all areas (armor), damage reduction, etc, and then straight up nerfing xp. We played the game to have fun, feel powerful and wanted less grind. Keep in mind you only feel strong, when you figure out which skills to pick, which armor specs you need to use/wear and you have the Aspects that pair with all of that. Typically need to be level >60 for that. Instead, Blizzard looked at the hardcore streamer types and then nerfed everyone into the grave. Overall a great game, but only play if you like this genre AND want to experience the story line (max level 50). Ignore anything above that as it is simply no longer worth it. I might come back next season, but already moving to other games and going back to Destiny for their next season. So long Diablo, as Blizzard has sucked the fun out of the game. I would have given this an 8 or 9, but now its not worth more than a 4. Blizzard cut the fun out of the game and made it so only the first 50 levels you gain are worth anything, so I cut my rating in half to indicate that. Expand

HOW DOES A LOOT GRIND GAME NOT HAVE COOL LOOT. Story was cool but that’s not why we are here. Items are lame. Uniques are meaningless and sparse. Basically your just grinding for gold to refill affixes and aspects. This game lacks any type of excitement for end game. Pretty blown away on how far they missed the mark on this legendary franchise. At least they got their record sales based onHOW DOES A LOOT GRIND GAME NOT HAVE COOL LOOT. There is no Endgame in Diablo IV. The Devs are clueless on how to make a good ARPG, they've got a new season mechanic for Season 1 which is boring and unintuitive, they have done 0 QOL updates and have not listened to the community at all.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
