Their added updates keep making the game worse. This is a D3 repeat all over again.

The recent patch sent me back to playing Support in Smite. Thats all the perspective you need. Boycott this garbage until Blizzard decides to apply meaningful updates rather than nerf their game by half in the hopes of making the cash cow last longer.

It feels like the initial version of this game was not correctly playes as expected by the game designers, therefor they had to do these dramatic changes now. But practically for me after being 670 hours ingame, that nows feels like a massive funchpunch and my character is much weaker. I had max rolled items which are now min rolles, so I practically lost a lot of gold. Everything takes much longer now and you get less rewards. No Quality of Life features like new stash space have been added, it was really balancing downgrades only. Giving this patch without anything giving back (like add fun or rewards) - feels like a massive disappointment. Hence this rating and I hope it will be fixed. Expand

I typed why I think this game is awful in 3000 words but Metacritic does not allow such filth on their pages. So I will just play nice and give the game a zero as that is the highest it deserves.

I miss the countdown in nigthmare dungeons like in greater rifts in D3? glyhs have a max level so what's the point? .... it's like when you get to lvl 100 you're done and there's no point in playing. and all these nerfs just create more and more negative publicity and kill the desire to play....you guys better do something fast and season 1 will by way better then this non season otherwise im sorry to say my dream for this game will die:( Expand

How to nuke your playerbase in one patch... As a player who grinded 3 lvl 100 characters since release they were pretty well rounded now feel terrible. Season 1 will not make up for what we have lost with the malignant hearts. Non seasonal players will have nothing to make their characters feel any better.

Waste MORE time on an already unreasonable time sink? I don't think so. FF16, Starfield, BG3. are right around the corner. Blizz needed to make it WAY more fun to play to keep my time.

This game kinda suck after the honeymoon period. There’s nothing to do endgame and blizzard keeps trying to shove nightmare dungeons down our throats. Since release nothing has been added except nerfs. NOTHING. Save your money and avoid paying for this pre-beta game.

Developer continually makes changes that ruin the gaming experience for casual gamers. They expect people to sink all their time into the game and play solo. No real reward for playing with friends if anything it's more of a punishment.

Diablo is actually a paid beta for 90$
In a normal world we could imagine that the game is a mix between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 with the best feature of thes games but no.
The core game is broken but you don't see it until you are above level 50-60 then you start to see all it's default.
I congratulate the team behind cinematics, scenario, and open world design, but all the rest is a pure ****

tl;dr: A visually alluring but fundamentally flawed and a seriously lacking addition to the Diablo series. Slow gameplay, boring itemization, and ever lengthening time-sink requirements courtesy of misguided patches. Avoid wasting your money on this one.

Diablo IV, the highly anticipated addition to the iconic action RPG franchise, delivers an atmospheric and visually impressive world with all the familiar elements that fans have come to love. However, it is impossible to overlook the developers' evident disconnection from the playerbase, as they prioritize lengthening time sinks over enriching the gameplay experience. This approach results in a title that feels unnecessarily tedious and monotonous, ultimately detracting from the potential greatness of the Diablo series.

One of the most glaring issues with Diablo IV is the misguided notion that elongating the gameplay by making it take longer to complete things equates to a more challenging experience. Instead of offering intricately designed challenges and engaging encounters, the developers have resorted to inflating the game's content with time-consuming grinds, repetitive quests, and artificial difficulty spikes. This approach does not increase the game's difficulty in a meaningful way; it merely creates a sense of boredom and fatigue, distancing players from the once-thrilling Diablo universe.

Despite the visually stunning graphics and well-crafted environments, the gameplay loop often feels stagnant and uninspired. The lack of innovative mechanics or substantial improvements over its predecessors gives rise to the impression that the developers were content to rely on the series' established formula without taking the risk to evolve the gameplay to new heights. As a result, Diablo IV feels like (and truly is) a step backward, rather than the much-anticipated evolution fans had hoped for.

It's a shame that they delivered an unfinished game and were not prepared with season 1 content let alone addressing simple bugs the game has has since day one. stop giving blizzard money, and more importantly stop giving them your time. This studio does not care about it's community.

Repetitive, boring, no endgame, and if you are lucky enough to find a class and play style you like, they will nerf it into oblivion. The newest patch punishes group play, and severely nerfs experience. It is clear blizzard does not want players to reach level 100, because there is no content for higher levels.

The hell tides are okay, but infrequent and require a 40+ minute play session to open chest because of the low mob density. NM dungeons, which is where the game should be best, are slogs. Every class has resource and cooldown management issues that mean you spend most of your time waiting to do something. The foolish task inside the dungeon add nothing but annoyance. The NM dungeons should just require killing x% of the mobs in the dungeon and then the boss.

Builds are just not fun. You never get that power fantasy feeling you got in the other diablos. Maybe this will be a good game in two or three years, but it is not yet. I have a free battle pass and no plan to play season 1.

Unfortunate L for the one of the most nostalgic RPG series of a generation.

Diablo 4 makes you feel like you are barely keeping up with the difficulty curve and is very contingent on your skills and gear. If you do not put the proper point in the proper skill for your build using the gear you find, you'll find the monsters have become harder when you level. It's "match level" scaling can be an absolute hinderance to people who do not know what build to run or have not found the gear/legendary aspects to create the build.

The game has many problems from bugs and exploits to developers who actively work to lower the fun of the game. If one were to ask me if they should buy this game, I'd tell them wait 2-3 years (Diablo 3's timeframe from release to an acceptable game). I have nothing to tell these people as I have to be honest and I cannot just sit there and assume these developers will make any meaningful changes the community has been very vocal about. They have their vision to make money off of us and they aren't willing to change that in the slightest.

The reviews from game companies are clearly paid reviews or they played 1-25 and thought the game was gonna be that fun throughout. Levels 1-50 is where the game feels completed. Post 50 the game is a grindfest with constant nerfs to loot by the developers. The developers in this game have a vendetta against it's players that play it harder than anyone else because those players found the holes of content that was non-existent. The game is for now, a lost cause.

It pains me to say it, I am a huge fan of the Diablo series. Diablo 1 was great, Diablo 2 was it's peak, Diablo 3 was showing cracks in Triple A publishers armor and Diablo 4 is the full collapse of the series. Hacking and slashing through demons is great, but when the monster variety never changes and the dungeon boss variety never changes, you feel like the last dungeon is the same as the one you're doing now.

I put 14 days of gameplay into the game since release and I have not touched it since July 7th. They told us there was a big patch coming on July 18th, two days before the Season 1 launch. They nerfed everything. It was worse than I could've ever imagined. They nerfed all top end damage buckets and multiplicative damage types because they are worried top players will beat the content too fast yet again and realize their Season 1 mechanics are not good either and right back to a lowered playerbase they will go and nerfed all defensives by 50%! They made getting through the game more tedious than launch by nerfing EXP where you have no choice but do Nightmare Dungeons on your character to level, that will just kill you faster because your defenses are nerfed by 50% and if you can't tank them, you have to kill them faster or it leads to more dying - but that is nerfed by 50% on average with some builds seeing upwards of 75% nerfs to the overall damage.

I don't know what their goal is, but this ain't it. Save yourself money. Don't give Blizzard and Activision any more time or effort. The only way this company will change is if the same thing that happened to Diablo 3 happens to Diablo 4. Everyone gets fed up, 3,500 players are left playing then they make some meaningful changes to make the game fun. For now, stay away and just keep an eye on the Microsoft takeover to hopefully fix this abomination.

1.1.0 is the worst update in history. Instead of adding additional stash, improving drops, removing 30 unneeded damage stats/resistance, fixed mount, etc they just decided to ruin the game. Good job Blizzard. Don't know who tested it and who suggested these "best ideas".

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
