I'd just like to point out that I haven't finished the game yet. Anyways yeah, I don't really understand why so many people hate this game. It has cool characters, an interesting story, inventive new mechanics, fun gameplay and tons of variety. Definitely pick this one up if you're interested.

My advice is that you sometimes get out of your car, walk in the rain, or near the lakes, listen to people conversations, even if it doesn't serve you for anything.

The driving might seem a bit odd after the first mission, but you get used to it, and you can always stop crimes to improve your reputation, if you ran over some citizens on the way, don't worry.

I'm not giving it a 9 or a 10 because I feel that it could have been better, I expected more on the visual side, even if it is already beautiful if you forget the fact that they downgraded the game for no obvious reasons. The AI could have been better as well, it is sometimes ridiculous how they don't see you.

Conclusion : maybe not be totally worth the high price, but still a good game, and lots of awesome moments. I enjoyed the fact that you can always choose to blow everything up or escape using the city using the traffic lights, the spikes etc. Nice open world, very realistic, wonderful sunsets on the lake, many travel options (including fast travel), and OK replay value if you try to play all stealth or full grenade-launcher.

However, after that, with a few upgrades the game became a blast!!! I am really enjoying it! So far I am on Act II mission 5, and have all the sidequests, activities etc. done in Mad Mile, The Loop, Parker Square and Pawnee. I can't get enough to be honest. There's so much to do and some side quests can be very fun!
The graphics are good but do however suffer due to optimization on last gen consoles, hence the current gen versions to not take the full capacity of what this new generation has to offer.
The story so far is intriguing. From where I am in the game, it looks like its going to play out into something good and I can't wait to delve further into it after I complete a few more thing in the remaining districts.

So far I give it an 8. It is subject to change. The game isn't ground breaking, but still very fun and deserves the credit. Anything score lower than 4 or 5 is just inexcusable just as the reasoning to some low scores. This game could be the catalyst to a better game like the first Assassin's Creed was to the second game.

The result is the most immersive open world experience I've ever had. I go to sleep thinking about it and wake up dying to jump back in. A superb game that gives me goosebumps for the future of this generation of gaming.

I see this as a good foundation as a ongoing series with some aspects that needs polishing. Graphics is good, not next gen but seeing as this is a cross-gen game i'm okay with that. Not that graphics matters that much versus game-play. Some game-play elements like effecting the game world gives this game a fresh new take at open worlds. The fun in causing mayhem by switching all streetlights to green or blowing up steam pipes at the right moment is priceless. The freedom in how to approach most missions is also a plus. You can either go all blazing or try a stealthy approach which is always my method. AI needs improvement but this is something most games needs and maybe we will see this further in this next generation. Other elements like the re-routing game-play when hacking could 've been more enjoyable then pressing X a bunch of times but the puzzle of how to unlock this game-play makes up for this. All in all it's a good game that deserves a 7 as minimum regardless of downgraded graphics or a more realistic car mechanics that is a bit more clunky then gamers are used to. I am giving this an 8 seeing as i've spent more then 15 hours of this game and is nowhere done with it. Expand

The city is very atmospheric - with a good set of speakers/headphones you can be totally sucked in, just like I used to be with GTA 4. Compared to GTA 5, the map is definitely smaller but there are more details within the space that exists, and where GTA 5 felt super open and kind of harmless, every corner of Watch Dogs' Chicago feels tight, unique and hostile.

The profiler (phone hacking tool) is incredible, not for its concept but for its implementation and its development. You can not only see a tidbit of who the people are about you, but you can listen in on conversations, download the music they're listening to for your own enjoyment in-car, and deplete their bank accounts for your usage. In the world, you can burst drain pipes, force street lights to change, and control the city in other various ways. The city feels alive when you play it, and you feel in control.

That said, it is challenging. The police are tough. The missions (so far) feel very fair and balanced - stealth is definitely the most challenging way to play but also the most rewarding.

There are some flaws, the most notable being the car physics. It's weird, and not predictable. After a while you start getting used to it, and there's a clear variation between different cars within this physics system (which is commendable), but the system itself is weird. With practice, you could get used to it. Also Aiden Pearce, our protagonist, is completely devoid of any personality so far, which is a shame given the events in the story that have transpired so far. Luckily, the two side characters that he has interacted with so far are full personalities.

The most obvious game to compare this to is GTA 5. However, this feels far more cinematic and has its own narrative. I would perhaps compare this more to GTA 4. More intimate settings and a single protagonist. So far, it matches up unbelievably well. The fact that I'm even comparing it to GTA 4 and 5 is praise enough to just how good this game is.

I can't wait to play more.

EDIT: Just realised the version of Watch Dogs I own doesn't have online free roam or Decryption, apparently this is due to hardware shortcomings even though MANY other games supprt online free roam such as Red Dead Redemption, Saints row,2,3 and 4, Borderlands, Dead Island, GTA, Minecraft and Terraria. Because Ubisoft didn't advertise this until I had brought the game I'm lowering my score to a 7.

There is not much for easing new players into this much anticipated world apart from a fairly simple opening narrative. This introduces a revenge theme where the brooding player character, Aidan Pierce, is searching for answers about the death of his young niece following a past hack that turned bad. Aidan with the help of some shady Dedsec (a sort of hackers anonymous) individuals go about getting to the bottom of why this family tragedy has befallen and why his family still remains in apparent danger.

Upon entering the free game world for the 1st time after the opening story sequence I was overloaded with a massive array of features in very vivid and lively Chicago. It’s not to say this is a bad thing, plenty of titles introduce players to new games with slow, unimaginative tutorials and introductions, while better games immerse players early on incorporating game features that players will need to master. Watchdogs doesn’t really do either instead the game drops the player in and says here’s everything we got, go nuts!

In fairness there are short tutorials for pretty much every activity and feature which are triggered as and when they are required as well as the player being able to access them anytime through the in game Smartphone. At first the sheer amount of information dropped at once seems overwhelming, with map icons for campaigns, side missions, collectibles, exploration, activities, investigations shopping and more. However after playing a little while it gets easier to process everything and develop a style of progression you’re comfortable with although this is frequently interrupted by constant remote alerts of crimes and criminals to stop. This can be a blessing and a curse, particularly for somewhat OCD gamers like myself that tend to leave no stone unturned.

As for the gameplay itself, it came as quite of a surprise how similar I found the set up to GTA titles. The level of openness is impressive and praise has to give to the level of detail gone in which really makes the city feel alive everywhere you go. I did expect however a bit more cohesion between the player’s story and the game world. We knew before release that the player would be some kind of technological vigilante super Assange, however where this suffers at first is there is no real effort in establishing a motive for the players’ activities. I’m still unsure if Aidan is a hacker turned vigilante, or a vigilante who happens to be a skilled hacker. Again, the narrative at the beginning doesn’t really attempt to reconcile the two so there’s no real purpose to why Aidan should be stopping organ traffickers and potential violent criminals and fraudsters (while at the same time ripping off ATM’s!) What is interesting is the natural Moral compass imbedded in the game using a fairly simple reputation system. Going on a GTA themed joyride and mowing down lines of civilians will severely damage your reputation and make the game much more difficult (and annoying) by increasing chances a citizen may call the police on you and trigger what I have found to be long and frequently difficult pursuits. It is possible however to jam a 911 call or just bully their mobile phone off them. Trust can always be earned though, and stopping street crimes (although fairly repetitive) increases your reputation particularly if non-lethal force is applied, on this note, taking out cops in Arnie, Terminator 2 style by shooting out their legs is also useful as your reputation decrease is less severe than going full on Arnie terminator 1.

The main selling point for watchdogs that separates it from other open world action games is the tech heavy focus. The players Smartphone is a powerful and enjoyable tool and the real time hacking features are unique to the world of gaming. Activating a profiling mode provides Aidan with general (and amusing) information on any citizen or enemy as well as potential access to their bank accounts or even music collections as well as detecting possible crimes and people/places of interest. Probably the most satisfying and engaging feature is Aidan’s ability to hack into the city’s CtOS network which controls everything from surveillance and electric grids, to street furniture and lockboxes. The dastardly smile on my face the first time I caused a super slow motion police car crash by changing the red lights must have been wider than the Chicago River. The usability of these features depends on if the city district the player is in has had its CtOS tower hacked in a somewhat assassins creed viewpoint unlock style. Some of these towers require parkour and puzzle solving to reach while others require stealth or straight up brutality to reach, Watch dogs does a great job of allowing the player to choose their own style for most situations, it is noted that the parkour features although simple are responsive and effective. Several hilarious decryptions are also available once you have successfully downloaded into some of these stations where you find out just how intrusive CtOS can be on its own citizens lives, from hacking into household camera’s to capture certain, home movies, *cough cough* to analysing people’s health and personal habits.

What came as quite a surprise is how smooth the combat system plays, Watchdogs rivals and exceeds even the best 3rd person cover shooters. The cover system is simple and responsive with easy transitions not only round corners but even to cover points at long distances. There is a wide range of weaponry and crafting items to employ which when combined with combat hacking really provides the player with a feeling of control and skill while at the same time never being too easy due to its realism and responsive AI. Most engagements can be quickly pre-planned and strategized by the player. Find hard cover, then watch with glee as you hack into a series of cameras that allows the player to tag enemy positions, unlock doors, set off multiple distractions and even wirelessly hack enemies ear pieces, mobile phones (to text them amusing messages regarding mortgage rejections and more) and remotely set off explosive devices they happen to be carrying. Once the wireless mayhem has reduced your foes to paranoid wrecks, it’s time to move in and pick them off, or perhaps after profiling a guard and learning he’s excited for his daughters 2nd birthday, take them down with a riot stick or just waltz past.

Perhaps some of the best moments I have had with watchdogs so far have not been campaign or side missions but rather in the alternative mode. There’s plenty of Fixer contracts to engage in for cash and experience points ranging from stopping a convoy to taking the Chicago PD on a wild goose chase. There’s also the hugely enjoyable “digital trips”, kind of techno induced acid trips which includes one activity called the “spider tank” which had me bouncing in my seat in excitement as I manoeuvred a giant robotic spider across the streets and rooftops of Chicago destroying everyone and anyone. The other game mode that has to be given praise is the embedded online features through the Smartphone online contracts. Although I get the feeling I have not got to sample all watchdogs multiplayer has to offer, what I have played has been smooth, exciting and tense. Although not directly linked to the story the invasion and tailing modes link to your wider role as a hacker where other real world players will invade your game session and attempt to hack your smart phone to gleam data from you while you are given a set time to find the hacker and put them down. The longer you are hacked the smaller the search area becomes with the tension retching up to find the geeky little thieves. On the flip side, you can hack some other poor fixer’s phone. Winning these hack duels grants notoriety points which grants useful special unlocks such as special ammo and vehicles. Another immensely exciting mode is a retrieval mode that consists of two teams driving and shooting it out to decrypt a single file package, the team who has possession of the file when 100% decrypted wins, how you get to that point is completely up to the players. The synchronicity between online contracts and the single player world is very exciting for the future of shared world games, and transitioning between the two is mostly fast and does not feel separated or restrictive, although it would be nice if there was an option to allow a friends list only option as I can foresee myself telling a would be hacker where they can stick their Smartphone for “invading” my game.

Looks wise Watchdogs is finely polished and quite striking although I have not really had a wow moment so far in regards to its next gen visuals. The detail however is impressive with weather and lighting effects realistic and ambient touches such as trash floating along the floor in the wind. Up close character details are sharp and refined but once again probably still a little short of being the title that really pushes next gen graphics. The overall style seems to mix a blend of urban, cyberpunk and metropolitan styles although it hasn’t fully engaged me atmospherically to a point I could say it has its own distinct ambience or unique look. I would have liked to see a bit more of a distinct effort to engage the player into a stylised world and was probably expecting something a bit darker and underground.

Overall it’s clear that after just a couple of days with watchdogs there’s so much in terms of content and execution to keep a large spectrum of gamers interested and happy. For open world aficionado’s and accomplishment guru’s there’s a mind bogglingly comprehensive progression system including campaign, general experience, skill points and unlocks, side missions, investigation, exploration, collectibles, interactions and activities. Watch dogs does a fantastic job in rewarding players for fully experiencing its vast open world features with progression wheels for absolutely everything with rewards, unlocks and special items making all activities worthwhile and not just extra’s to the main missions. For the more action orientated players the gameplay and scenarios are exciting, immersive and fairly challenging, with plenty of features to provide play style and options. The combat system is enjoyable and rewarding and the AI responsive.

My first impression of watchdogs is it seems to just fall short of being a truly iconic next gen title however there’s so much going on that you won’t have time to really care especially when raising a bridge behind you with cadre of cop cars in close pursuit. The graphics on the whole don’t quite provide the outstanding next gen visuals I have been waiting for however there are plenty of visual features and effects for eye candy. It would have gone a long way having a deeper opening narrative and character introduction to link the story to the wider game world giving it some perspective, and emotion, although there’s plenty of scope to develop this as the campaign unravels. The scope and scale of the game together with the well-crafted combat and unique game features will make Watchdogs worthwhile the time required to hack in for a large percentage of gamers.

Disappontment could mean that this is not the best game ever as our hype lead us to believe, but something inferior. Something inferior is an "8" game, as this is.

Being disappointed could lead to bad judgement, but every game should be reviewed without bias and trying to keep the already known facts (hype) to a minimum so as not to affect the final verdict.

This game is good. It is a great new IP with a lot of new ideas. Most of them are used in a great way, but ultimately it feels as though it could have been so much more. It feels somewhat like the first Assassin's Creed. The controls are excellent (even the driving, it just takes some getting used to) the traffic is at the correct density so as to serve the main gameplay. The hacking opens up new horizons. It makes the car chases tense and makes you feel like a true bad ass. It has a much more thought-out "escape from the cops" and when you escape them for example by train, it feels exactly as it is supposed to feel (as you've seen in countless movies).

It has its faults, as there are too many missions that play out quite the same and also the main character is horseSH*T. I am of the few that liked the larynx-illness-voice but as far as character depth is concerned, he is flat and shallow. I liked the main missions a lot because they give you a lot to play with, which is tha main ingredient for a sandbox game and also has great cover/shooting mechanics with some great weaponry.

Besides the script which could be a lot better, the other thing that bothered me is the bugs. This game has more game breaking bugs than BF4 when it was released and that's saying something. Even after the patch (1.02) they still got a LOT of work to do. That is unacceptable for a released game and even more for a game that claims to take its time for extra polishing. I don't mind when I see objects flying or defying the rules of nature, but I do mind when I see my investment on the game (about 30 hours) to vanish when i reach such bugs as the aforementioned. Unacceptable. There should be penalties for game companies for such things to protect us as customers.

I hope in a more mature sequel.

Watch Dogs is a game that carries a lot of hype about being a true next gen game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I feel it's nearly impossible for anything to live up to the level of hype this game received. It is my intention to review this title fairly without any level of hype or hatred for this game as I never got in to the hype and I do not hate Watch Dogs.

The narrative in Watch Dogs showed promise at first but quickly starts to fall apart and not just due to the cliche vigilante revenge story. Certain narrative decisions make it little to hard to believe that anyone would make that decision and Intelligent characters start acting irrationally at almost the on set of the Pearce family saga and many players will put together the entire story line about halfway through. It's not that it isn't a fun story, it's just painfully obvious.

A game I originally thought to have more in common with Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs is in every way an open world game in line with Grand Theft Auto and like GTA it falls victim to some of the common issues in almost all open world games. While it is obvious the game is also running on some last gen tech, I do not count off for that due to that being something of the norm at the moment, but we need to move passed this phase. Even with that said graphically I feel that it is a mixed bag. The game looks simply amazing at times, only to fall off at others. I perfect example of this is how almost every character outside of Aiden and Clara looks in game. Nicole & Jackson Pearce look like they had been ripped straight from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood graphically and placed in a game with a next gen version of Aiden and that not even getting in to how other non-important characters look far worse.

The city is very hit and miss as well, I am not 100% certain what version of Chicago this is but it isn't remotely close to the one I have visited. Look I am not saying we need this 1:1 ratio of the city, but things should at least be close. Chicago is graphically inconsistent as well. It has some real beauty at times then the quality suddenly drops to muddy/blurry textures and bad aliasing. I am a bit concerned about the lighting and shadows in the game outside of direct sunlight as many of the lights at night do not cast shadows. That said I think the game looks astonishing at night when it's wet from rain and no visible light source around, but that in itself is the problem as they are covering up their faults by adding a layer of water to a darker landscape. Reflections in this game are rarely ever even used and in almost every event they are faked out to try to add to the realism, the issue I take with this is that the reflections are almost 100% of the time not even close to accurate. You might be standing on a rooftop looking at a window of an intersection when in reality it is a city skyline. I have found myself on street level staring in to a building that shows a road running right through the city and in to the building I am looking at, I then turn around and find river and a bridge.

While the game is set at 30fps it has some frame rate issues on the PlayStation 4 (900p) and the Xbox One (792p). The drops are not considerable enough to cause a panic but should be noted after the game was delayed to correct issues like this.

The game controls well and has some good mechanics with the hacking but lacks any real combat. Melee combat is really non-existent outside of the a quicktime style take down and shooting is a very basic version of the mechanics found in Splinter Cell: Blacklist. It just always feels so subpar in combat driving scenarios. That leads to another issue, for a game that tries to allow the player so many options to achieve their goals the game tends to fall back on one of two things, firefights and car chases. Hacking was suppose to be the thing that makes it stand out, but then it falls back to being GTA kill everyone or escape and the hacking is a minute tool used to change traffic lights or raise barricades / bridges. most of the time it's not even needed as you can get away with little no no effort (until much later in the game). While on driving, the driving in this game takes the poor controls of cars in every other open world game and decreases handling to make them that much more of a chore. Motorcycles are almost flawless so I highly recommend using those or the special stealth car unlocked in 'uplay'.

The multi-player is unique and feels genuine, but is basically a trolling simulator The main quest will take one to two days to complete and the game offers enough side missions to make any 80 hour players scream with joy. The issue with those side activities is that once again like most open world games, they are very repetitive and lack any real diversity. Overall I think Watch Dogs is a solid game that everyone owes it to themselves to try, I feel that it is a very strong rental but not worthy of purchase

It's basically a better GTA, and people love that in droves. The complaint about not being able to shoot while you're driving is flawed; you can raise city barriers, affect traffic lights, and use a lot of great, innovative methods to eliminate your target.

It is extremely reflective of GTA, so if you're looking for a 100% fresh idea, look elsewhere. It follows the general stories, missions, shops, mini-games, and side missions. This version of an old favorite feels invigorated, however. Driving is more free range, as certain free-standing obstacles don't get in your way as much as GTA's small barriers into parks, gates, traffic light poles, etc. did.

Stealth also plays a big part into invading enemy camps. You have a telescoping baton for performing silent takedowns, and can use cellular signals to set off explosions, or perhaps get a nearby guard to check his phone while you go in for the kill, so to speak.

Roaming around on foot is a lot more fun, thanks to a short profile of every citizen you pass. Running can be done infinitely right from the start, so that's refreshing. YOU CANNOT DIRECTLY JUMP in this game, but rather climb well onto platforms and obstacles. Cash Run is a fun mini-game to play with this scheme, as you collect 8-bit coins and dodge the skulls through the landscape of the city.

The Landscape. Being that I'm B&R in the Chicagoland area and live in the city currently, I had high hopes, as I've been waiting for the Chicago GTA since Vice City. To an outsider, it artistically has many layers between the trees and the buildings. It's a beautiful, fluid city that provides obstacles, but doesn't get in the way, as the traffic of a real Chicago would make for a pretty huge annoyance as a gaming experience.

With the hype around the PS4 being a gaming marvel and personally being very impressed with the console, I was initially hoping to be able to find the in-game location of where I, as an actual person, live in Chicago, as it's close to the Loop. Instead, they have captured the Loop in grand fashion. I came off of a L train and saw the detailed sign for the Adams/Wabash stop, as I marveled at how accurately it looks to being there. The layout is more of a map featuring different sections of Chicago Neighborhoods. The game has changed names and locations, but I felt as if I was walking through places like Logan Square and Millenium Park, as I has a midnight meeting at the famous bean.

In summation, as a gamer and a Chicagoan, I highly recommend giving this a play.

But take the thing on its own merits and it is definitely worth the purchase. I don't CARE about GTA V. I don't care if basement dwellers feel they were misled regarding the graphics. The graphics are solid. And I can't understand giving a game a "0" out of some sense of socially inept, acne driven rage. Or how people can actually root for companies providing them with games to FAIL. Lame. All you've done is convinced me to stop looking at game site forums or metacritic user reviews. You have nothing constructive to say. You got nothing HONEST to say. And you're coming across as hateful to people who have done NOTHING to you. You don't want a product, then don't buy it. Looks fantastic on the PS4. The shooting is top notch, if not a bit easy. The driving does need some work (the obvious comparison being GTA). I found the driving mechanics to be more akin to an arcade game than a realistic simulation. But that isn't really the point of this game. Once you ramp a bridge on a motorcycle going full throttle in slow motion you'll say, "oh, that's why I bought this game."

Missions kept me entertained, but after a few hours do get repetitive. The hacking works very well most of the time (there were a few times where I attempted to hack a camera but triggered an explosion instead). Overall the game's aspects come together very well. Like many reviewers have said Watch Dogs 2 will most likely knock it out of the park, but for now enjoy a great first entry in the series.

These people expect the world when then buy a video game and if it isn't what they thought it was.....INSANT ZERO.

This game is a revelation. Nothing like GTA, unless you play it like a too-bit criminal going all guns blazing (which the designers have given as an option to accommodate different user playing styles) there is way more subtlety to this game than just stealing a car and blowing stuff up. If played correctly you are taken into the world of hackers and basically being able to do whatever you want with the click of a smart phone.

The more you play the more you learn. The game is open world so it can be played at ones pace, do what you feel like whenever you feel like kind of feel. The game is packed full of mini games and side missions to keep you occupied, or you can simply roam the streets creating mayhem (without anyone knowing it's you). The main story is quite compelling and gives nothing away early on, longevity also excellent.

The graphics are excellent, although some people say they aren't (no idea why). Gameplay and overall feel to the game is very good including driving, free-running an shootouts. The game also has really addictive online features, facing off against other hackers to name just one.

Overall Watch Dogs is an excellent game. Different to all the norm free roaming games out there. People are disappointed with this game because it wasn't what they were expecting.......THAT'S THE IDEA! ITS DIFFERENT! A revelation compared to the majority of other YAWN roaming games.

Now, taken purely as just another open-world action/driving game, it is mediocre, at best. The gunplay is fun, but flawed--as are the driving mechanics. Online multiplayer is present, but 90% of it is either hopelessly broken/bugged, or entirely forgettable. It does make one wonder how bad the game was when they decided to push it back...perhaps they should have taken a bit longer.

Okay--my final word: Worth playing--just don't expect too much from it. Play it for fun, but consider its theme--your smartphone is NOT your friend.

First of all, i will start with the main character which is Aiden Pearce. This is the character that the player will play as and this person comes out for some unfortunate events that changes his life forever, and then of course Aiden will have to go and try to make up for this mess that has happened.

I think that the graphics within this game is absolutely stunning, i got the feeling that i actually would be in the city of Chicago. Not only the graphics was great, but the animations of the people going around of the world was really pretty as well. One of the things i noticed was someone in a park was playing around with a football, and i was amazed how realistic it looked.

The whole story in Watch Dogs could at some times be a bit confusing, and it lost me a few times because i didn't really find it that interesting. The campaign missions was sometimes very similar - go here - shoot them - hack this - do this puzzle - go to next mission like. But the missions also had their moments and some of them was REALLY FUNNY.

There is one more thing i need to talk about, and that's the physics of objects within the game. I really think that they nailed the physics and how much damage the objects do on the car, it really suits the game well and i enjoyed them.

All in all, this was a great game and i enjoyed it most of the times i would recommend anyone who reads this to go and try it out, because it is a fun experience and it's different with all the hacking going on within the city itself.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Such a bad User Score due to the over complaining "wannabe" critics that are berating this game so badly.

    For Starters-
You get the people that hate the game for the graphics, now i don't get this at all.
The graphics them self are just purely beautiful, and if you hate on them it's either your consoles fault or there is seriously something wrong with you in general.

Then.. you get the people that hate on the game for not offering a very good storyline or with very good voice actors or a well written script.
The game itself actually tries its best to pull you in, yes it has some parts to where it would seem a bit too bland, but Ubisoft actually did a really great job compared to the other "rushed" games that they've had in the past.
This game wasn't rushed, neither was it underdeveloped either, they actually took the time to make sure that the game you're getting isn't the proverbial trash that you would see now a days with games that hadn't put anything to nothing at all to developing a game.

Then you have the people that complain about the game not working at all for their system.
You can find many answers to seek help for your problem, but obviously if the game can't run on your console then it's not the games fault.

Take a look at all of the recent patches, fixes, and updates that they've been releasing lately.
They've fixed the game up so much, you couldn't tell how much of a mess it was at release.
For all those who returned this game just because it had a few minor "problems" with it, then shame on you.

For those of you actually wanting a real review out of this game, then here it is.

The Story stars out by showing you the life of a brilliant hacker named Aiden Pierce whom using his skills, along with the notorious hacker group "DedSec" to show the citizens that the ctOS corporation isn't doing their job right with the technology they've developed.
The game goes right into showing you, the protagonist having a "hit" on you to take you out once and for all by a mysterious counter hacker trying to get rid of you.
Two Hit-Men then go after you while you're out and about with your neice and her two children. The problem is, when they had tried to shoot you, they end up shooting the youngest of them all and ending her life.
The first part of the game to where you are able to do anything, is an interrogating scene to where your job is to get information out of the Hit-Man that went after you.
Of course, none of it is working so the game tells you to shoot him in the head. Pretty straight forward.

You then are shown a scene to where there's a dead body on the ground, and one of the gun men try's to shoot you.
Your Back-Up or Partner shoots the guy down, and you wonder where the hell this guy has been since you were in that room beforehand.
You then need escape past the police and get out of the building, but it isn't as easy as it sounds.
You need to make sure you're not spotted, and of course this is where the hacking part of the game starts.
    -
You start off by hacking into cameras to see where your path is ahead of you, and unlock doors that are inaccessible for you.
After you use the camera on the outside to unlock the first door, you are introduced to one of your first "Hacking" gadgets you can use.
    The Distractor.
You grab some electrical scraps to craft the weapon, and throw it towards the other way.
You set it off so the guard is out of the way so you can proceed to the next area.
You see the Captain of the police and a few police officers being interviewed by a news station in a bar, and sneak past them through the back (Or.. walk right in their line of sight and fail the mission... your choice of course)
You'll see a few security guards chatting through a glass door, so you'll want to hide to the side of it, or just not be near it at all.
You'll call up your DedSec buddies, and they'll tell you to find the security guard with access codes to the servers mainframe to cause a "Stadium Blackout". After finding him by hacking a few cameras, you'll have access to a new weapon called "Blackout". You'll select the weapon and press the trigger button to make the whole place go dark.
You sneak past the security guards, and then have to get away from them by using a car giving to you by your partner or run the whole way there (not the smartest idea.. go with the car or a car in general).
At this point, there's a lot of action going on, and i have to say that i was impressed by the amount of it.

After all of it, you can either go on campaign missions, online missions / activities, or.. do whatever you want.
And this is just a small portion of the game.

Added up you're getting MANY hours out of this games campaign alone.
Overall, I'm impressed with the sheer take that Ubisoft has taken with this game, and it was well worth the wait.

Overhyped and underdelivered, but this doesn't make it a bad game.
Yes, it's not next-gen, and after all we've seen years before the release, this is not THE game ubisoft has promised. But what can I say, I had a lot of fun, even if there was a bitter taste of "naah, this could be so much better". But this is also grumbling on a high level if we're honest.
I'm sure Watch_Dogs_2 will be killer.

The narrative is good, the gameplay is solid and the graphics are great. Sure the graphics were slightly downgraded from the trailers, but especially at night and in the rain, the game looks gorgeous.

My only gripe is that finding players online is too hard - I am presuming that the servers are under a lot of stress and can't quite handle the load. I hope this gets fixed, because I absolutely love it when somebody enters my game. I hope that over time there will be more multiplayer involvement.

With so little still to play on the PS4, Watch Dogs is definitely THE game to get at the moment. It will keep you hooked for a long time and it provides enough replayability for you to come back. The minigames are fun too, especially the spider tank is massively fun. Heck, it is the game to get on any platform at the moment.

Overall WD is a fun game. But despite its hype it isn’t an “open world” game. It’s a railroad shooter with some fun hacking thrown in and a big map. You can’t just walk into stores and steal or buy stuff. Most doors won’t open for you. And usually there’s only one way to complete objectives.

On the PC, the controls (especially for vehicles) are problematic. This is another game that was designed for consoles and the PC thrown in. That’s very clear, even from the start. Driving can be seriously frustrating. Example: the acceleration key (W); press it and the car floors forward. There is no speed control. Which makes turning at any speed, hard. No smooth driving at all. You will crash. A lot. Lucky for you the cars can take a serious beating. Oh and a tip: need to get away from any chase? Swim. Jump in the lake. About half way across whoever is chasing you will loose you. And that brings up the AI.

The AI is poor. Jumping in the lake is a good example. And it’s easy peasy to evade the cops. Cause, well they are stupid. Also random people in the streets will run just at the sight of you. Various things like that. This doesn’t make the game un-enjoyable just something I noticed.

Now you know, I wouldn’t mind the terrible driving controls that much if I wasn’t forced to drive. Certain missions require you to drive. Just like certain missions require you to stay in stealth. IMHO that is not an open world game. The objective should matter not how you got there. When evading, I should be able to duck into an apartment and try to hide (assuming I can deal with whoever is in the apartment). I mean, why can’t I take a train to evade cops (or whoever is chasing me)?

Anyway things like the above bother me. The devs promised much. I’d say they delivered about 2/3 of what they promised. I suppose all developers do that.

One thing I must mention – the graphics, while good, DO NOT look anything like the various E3 trailers (or trailers on the net. Not at all. I almost feel like I fell for a bait-n-switch. But I didn’t buy this game for the graphics. But I understand why certain folk are pissed about this. They should be.

One last thing – the story: it reminds me of ME3 - where the devs are obviously trying to force certain emotions on you. Since I never had a chance to even meet “the niece” I didn’t care about her. The forced dreams aren’t going to force me to care: [Guy robs people. Guy gets hacked. A hit gets ordered. Guy driving his niece later that evening. Gets attacked (the hit). Niece does.] And here you are. Out for revenge. Of course, it doesn’t matter that the hit was order because you were doing something you shouldn’t. It doesn’t matter that your niece dying is your fault. Actually that does matter. I haven’t finished the game, but I know enough of what went down that the later does matter; just not that enough for me to care.

But there are so many side missions that it’s easy to forget the main story. While I like the story, it’s standard shooter style, the side missions are what make this game.

In closing, overall the game is fun. Worth the $60 bucks I laid out? No. Worth $40 (in 3 months), YES.

Much better than other players are letting on. Not entirely sure why people are so disappointed either. The game is fun, and whilst it's true the first act starts slowly, it certainly picks up pace and certain parts extremely memorable (e.g. the scene where you escape from your apartment). Also, the online integration is cutting edge - no one has done this before and it's amazing.

First things First, I do think Watch Dogs is a good game but it certainly isn't a great game. The E3 reveal of the Game set the bar way too high and unfortunately this product just comes up short. It reminds me of the First Assassins Creed Game, which was a rough diamond that was ultimately polished into the true gem that its sequels were.

To put it bluntly, the game just doesn't connect. The storyline is all muddled up and all the way through Act I, I just don't get why i should care about the plot. There is no world morality, Aiden's actions don't seem to have an impact on the world at large and with the personal plot so shaky, I began to lose interest pretty quickly.

The Gun Play is passable, but I don't think that the game is meant to be played as a shooter since you can be overwhelmed and shot to pieces very easily. Stealth on the other hand is a bit overpowered, accept in the auto-fail levels. Basically Stealth is the best way to get to an objective and is pretty easy to execute unless the Game forces you to be stealthy..I can stealthily hack and kill all enemies to reach a target or just hack cameras to reach the objective without a problem. But moving around a Hi-tech Prison, am going to have to replay sections multiple times.

The Driving is pathetic, every car feels like it is being driven on ice and your reputation gets adversely affected by each Civilian you accidentally mow down..

On the flip side the Spider Tank Digital Trip is a brilliant game in itself, and you can spend hours stalking and hacking various NPC's..However, again what is the point of it all..You really cannot impact their lives unless it is the generic crime prevention missions or steal their money. It would have been cool if they added a little consequence to all the hacking and privacy intrusion. You hack a low income guy's bank account and then he pops up as a potential criminal in a crime prevention mission. Or maybe you could hack into a poor old lady's account, who needs Money for Cancer treatment, and plant some of your ill gotten gains to help her out. Ubisoft has taken a giant step towards making a city feel real but the lack of consequence and the lack of an ability to impact the lives of these people makes the city feel more artificial than a GTA or Read Dead. The Far Cry 3 Island felt more alive and vibrant than the dreary Chicago in Watch Dogs. It seems to be going for the Sleeping Dogs style and basically doesn't match up in the story department.

Let me become a crime lord or Philanthropist. Give me something to do with all the money I steal. A better story, more character depth, more consequence and more interactivity will lead to a far better game when and not if the sequel arrives. Till then us gamers will continue to wait for the first truly great AAA game of this generation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. NOTE: This review is for the Campaign game only, will focus almost entirely on the story itself and WILL contain major spoilers.

Watch Dogs seemed to hold a lot of promise in terms of a new style of gameplay. I knew almost nothing about it going in, but the hook of hacking as your weapon rather than straight combat was pretty intriguing, and the scores I saw up on Metacritic seemed promising, so I decided to give it a shot.

It starts off well enough, with protagonist Aiden standing before the man who killed his niece and the narrative making a clear statement regarding the path you're meant to go down. Unfortunately, this premise is quickly forgotten. The vast array of weapons, from silenced pistols and sniper rifles to pump action grenade launchers and IEDs tend to take precedence over hacking, and even if you have the perseverance to stick with your phone to beat the bad guys as often as possible, that isn't what Ubisoft wants, and they give you very little reason to play this game the way I expected I would have to.

There's a mission maybe 3/4 of the way through where you *SPOILER* have to rescue Aiden's nephew after he wanders off to try and track down his kidnapped mother and is himself abducted. In order to progress, it's necessary to take down every enemy on the field, but even if you stealth them all and choose to go the K.O route rather than killing them, the story doesn't care. When you find the boy, no matter how you chose to play, he's just witnessed you committing mass murder. *SPOILER ENDS* You are The Punisher with a smartphone, whether you choose to be or not. I was really looking forward to a smarter game, where stealth and cunning took the front seat, but apparently Ubisoft thought nobody would go for that. I would have. I thought that was what I'd bought.

Despite railroading the player as a bloodthirsty thug just so Aiden's mournful narration can try to make you feel bad about it later, the story is actually quite good. Chicago under the ctOS is a very relevant cautionary tale in our tech-driven world, and Aiden's quest for answers and the resultant fallout makes for a great journey, but I would have liked it a lot more if how I chose to play had some effect on that story. And sometimes, you don't get a choice. This grated on me more than any other time during the end-credit sequence, when *SPOILER* you have to deal with Maurice, who your sociopath colleague Jordi has been helpfully holding hostage for you since the beginning of the game. I get that they were trying to give Aiden a clear journey, and that in their mind it's only in the end that he can choose to rise above the violence of his recent past, but I'd been rising above whenever possible all the way through, and the game didn't care. Only now can you suddenly decide to spare or execute sad little Maurice, when up until this point you were a murderer even when you weren't. *SPOILER ENDS*

Hopefully when the inevitable sequel arrives, Aidan's character evolution will have come far enough to keep the promise this game failed to uphold.

I find the hacking to be fun and a nice option over running and gunning to complete missions. I have completed entire missions without even entering the area by simply hacking.

It looks to me many of the negative reviews are by those who just don't like Ubisoft to begin with. It might help if people stopped comparing it to GTA5 or Assassin's Creed as this is it's own game.

The graphics are good but not great, the hacking while simplistic puts a nice twist on gaining money and information as well as alternate ways to complete missions. The descriptions that pop up during facial recognition get repetitive but what do you expect with such a large in game population? Random encounters are frequent and can be a nice distraction from the main story line adding length to the game. Yes, the story is generic but still engaging.

At the end of the day I would recommend buying this.

Poor story, unlikable characters with little or no development, limited customization options, awful vehicle handling, repetitive gameplay and worst of all: horrendous combat mechanics (like no shoulder swap of weapon).

There have been a few patches now and i have encountered no glitches, the game runs perfectly. The graphics are great even though they have been lowered since the initial game-play videos and the game-play itself is mostly fun. Although the driving is rubbish. The characters aren't that bad, but they aren't the best ever.

Just like the Assassins Creed games there is plenty of extra stuff to do other than the story and unlike the Assassins Creed games it's ALL fun to do, no stupid money chests or fragments for me.

Basically the game is fun, runs well, looks good, has a good soundtrack and has loads to do so it's worth the money. It's also different, the hacking mechanic is fun and it's hilarious mucking around distracting/blowing up enemies. The free running is also pretty cool

Doesn't get a 10 because the main character is unoriginal and the driving is pants. Having said that the driving can be mastered and therefore ignored and the character doesn't matter so much, when you are in such a great open world. Also you can check into famous Chicago land marks, learn about them and get gifts left by other players which is a genius idea.

    So yeah...buy it!

Chicago looks gorgeous! The gameplay is diverse, sometimes quite difficult and always a lot of fun. Yes, the driving is a little dry and slushy, but it hardly takes away from the rich experience if the game. Hacking adds a whole new dimension to stealth.....and it works wonderfully. So many options! Really enjoying this one......nice work, Ubisoft!

Now, despite its numerous failings in both story and at times graphics and overall visuals, as well as its failure to deliver on several early promises, Watch Dogs is far from a bad game. It is a really enjoyable and replayable experience, even if it is a highly flawed one as well. As with many similarly flawed titles of its genre and caliber, the main attraction and the main thing that works the most in Watch Dogs is in fact its open-world setting and the relative freedom players are allowed in deciding what they want to do or where they want to go, as well as when and why or why not. Choice and hacking capabilities alone make this a worthwhile title to play, even if it isn’t quite the hit they were looking for. I for one certainly enjoyed my time with this game, as well as the fact that it retained similarities to their other recent titles- such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, without going overboard into those territories at all. If there’s one thing that can be said about it, it’s that Watch Dogs is certainly one of a kind- even if it isn’t because it’s sailed into uncharted territory, and is only because there hasn’t really yet been a game quite like it in conceptual terms. If they do choose to make it a series, which seems viable considering it sold pretty well, I’d be interested to see the hopefully improved sequel and to compare its rights and wrongs to those of this title as well.

Concept: Explore open-world Chicago as the revenge-seeking, trenchcoat and ballcap clad hacker Aiden Pearce. Enjoy some cheap thrills and spills, laugh at the mostly overdone story moments, and torment the people of the city with environmental chaos and hijacking of the citywide OS employed by a corrupt corporation.

Graphics: The game looks good on most consoles and devices, however there are times when it is visually muddied, and it doesn’t like up to the frame rate or overall graphical awareness originally promised as well.

Sound: There are several tunes in-game that work and several that don’t. The accompanying score works in most instances where the licensed content doesn’t.

Playability: With the exception of the odder than not vehicle controls, the other mechanics handle fantastically. Naturally, because of the vehicle controls, pretty much any of these mechanics being used during chases are more frustrating than not.

Entertainment: It’s in its own class and genre thanks to the exceptional hacking abilities afforded to your character, and overall it’s quite an enjoyable experience. Also, there are some doge jokes to be made about and in the game. I kid you not. Seriously.

    Replay Value: High.

    Overall Score: 8.0

This is a really fun game. An open-world sandbox with an added element of open-world elements through the hacking mechanism, which I must admit is far more fluid than I had anticipated. I will take off a point though because there's no driveable helicopters or aircrafts in general, which feels sort of limiting at times. It does make sense too however with how some parts of the game are structured, if you could just fly you wouldn't bother to solve half the puzzles within the game that require you to vault around, especially the CTOS Towers.
There are plenty of weapons, all fit nicely on a radial wheel and are categorized with added secondaries like frags and IEDs. You can craft on the go anytime which is also nice, though unrealistic. But for the sake of convenience and gaming-practicality, its a good mechanism that shouldn't and doesn't conform to reality.
The campaign is very lengthy and nice with lots of drama, tragedy, etc and there are also plenty of optional side activities that are not necessary but are rewarding. I got this game the day after release date, and I'm still having fun playing it. Also there is a season pass I did not get yet, but I'm sure that adds even more to the content. I did get it on the PS4 however so I did get some bonus missions which were quite fun too. There's also a great variety of online segments to even further the amount of fun you can have and adds a level of competitive play.

To me, it was a great game, and worth every dollar I spent on it. With a somewhat small library of games to choose from for the PS4 atm, this stands tall with giants like Infamous SS as one of the best available titles right now on the new system. I'm sure that holds true for the XB1 too atm

The end of Act 2 is extremely disturbing though and I really wish I had been given the option to skip that mission. Overall, the story left me satisfied. The game is fun and the city is great for exploring, but you can't go inside many buildings. That is why I rate it an 8 instead of 9.5. They could have at least let you ride an elevator to the observation deck of the Willis Tower, but no. You are pretty much stuck to being outside on this. They also don't have the Navy Pier that is such an icon in Chicago. If they had included things like that then this would have been one of my favorite games. This game was good, but it falls well short of being great. Still, it is well worth $60. The other complaint I have is that the driving could have been better. Other then that it is really is a fun game with all the hacking. The last thing I will say is that looking at the skyline at night time on this game is absolutely breath-taking! Expand

    what i like:
obviously the hacking feature is innovative, feels good and rewarding and you also can do most of the missions without shooting at people or even hurting them.
the open world of chicago is quite lively and dynamic, you will hear alot of dialogs or can watch the people doing funny or sometimes strange stuff. you off course can hack their smartphones, including alot jokes

the online modes are quite cool, my favourite is the 1 vs 1 hide and seek mode where one tries to hack the other and the other has to find the hacker in his version of the city and kill him. works good and is pure fun.
the story is cool but is stretched and most missions gameplay doesnt vary too much: go to a, hack something, get away go to b, meet somebody and do some other stuff at b... simple structure and almost always hacking stuff and killing or sneaking through ppl involved.
the main charakters are very cool and illustrated nicely, while the main charakter lacks emotion. i dont get why they did this, maybe so the player can replace the dull personality with some of his own attitudes or stuff, i have no idea

i totally dont get why others hate the car controlls that much, they feel the same as GTA5 and also the games is not menat to be a racer so its okay to have simple controlls. also i dont need to have a car crash engine that is detailed as **** thats what i played burnout for.
Side quests are surprisingly rewarding and never get that repetetive and boring cause they are short living fun without repeating random citizen dialogs.

okay finally lets get to what could be improved:
    1) gimme moar easter eggs, its an open world dammit
    2) mission design could have included more ways to beat the targetor simply more posibilities of what to do, sometimes main missions play like side quests
    3) some kind of death matchy open world mmo death match or mmo hacking event
    4) the story overall could be more epic, its cool but there is soo much room to improve.

overall, i like the game much more than the overhyped GTA5.

It trys to be new and exciting with the hacking mechanic by allowing you to raise bollards or blow up steam vents during car chases and cook a grenade on a unsuspecting guard, watching him fumble manically as he attempts to grab and throw his beeping demise away. Initially this gives a false sense of choice; try stealth, try hacking or all out action. But soon you realize that hacking makes the game a breeze, allowing any seasoned gamer to slide through without an interruption and meet its underwhelming conclusion.

The story itself doesn't even sound interesting from the outset. You are trench coat wearing, gruff-voiced Aiden Pearce and you're out for revenge because some hitmen murdered your niece. So nothing original there, in fact that sounds like the set-up to any action movie from the 80s or 90s. But the important thing to consider is how are you gaining your revenge? Well through murdering other people... who probably have nieces themselves and other family members who would miss him. So Aiden on-top of being a mass-murder, is a hypocrite. This detached me from the character, I couldn't relate to his motivations or methods. Some people may argue; its your actions that are controlling Aiden, and you're deciding to kill those people. True I'm the one pressing the R2 button as a lodge shotgun shells into a gang members head but Watch Dogs down right condones and expects you kill and murder your way through the story missions, by giving you a huge arsenal of weaponry and placing you in situations which don't allow stealth. This is not Deus Ex, i defy you to do a non-lethal run.

So where the protagonist failed for me, is there a redeeming antagonist that pushes you to actually finish the game, so you can confront and stop them? First of all, a lets consider that Ubisoft created Vaas (from Far Cry 3) who was one of the greatest villains in recent memory. So you can understand my anticipation for this game and expecting at least a decent villain. Did they recapture that magic? Well... no is the answer to that. The antagonists in this game are a bizarre choice, considering the world Ubisoft is trying to create . You'd expect a game which reflects current world issues about a lack of privacy from the government and supposed big corporations spying on their customers and knowing their darkest secrets. Would call for a CEO or owner of the so-called Blume corporation to be the main villain. But no, its a mob boss. Isn't that a staple of the Grand theft Auto series? I was just expecting something different, but that's the common theme with Watch dogs, its just painfully generic. Everything it attempts to do has been done better in older and better games. It which stands fine by its own but falls short of recent open world games like Grand Theft Auto 5.

Perhaps Watch Dog's biggest downfall is its repetitive nature. While the story missions remain fairly fresh throughout, the side content has a different fate. It has to be the greatest example of quantity over quality I've ever seen in a game. Why have 20 fixer missions when you can have 40 and they're all pretty much the exact same gameplay segment over and over again, except in a different location. I shouldn't feel like I'm completing a chore when playing a video game, they're the opposite of that. They're the epitome of procrastination, putting you off completing meaningful tasks and work and instead move some pixels around a screen. The worst offender is the drinking mini game, if you want the trophy you have to complete 11 drinking mini games against 3 opponents which can take upwards of 4 hours. Because the mini game is so damn difficult. I've actually had a harder time progressing through this, than I have the campaign mode. That's just silly.

Overall, a game which is above average because it has nice graphics and good controls. But as open world games go, this will just keep you occupied until a new GTA, Red dead or Fallout comes out, its worth a purchase but maybe at a reduced price.

But the difference between GTA V and Watch Dogs is the fact that Watch Dogs has an interactive world, while GTA V has shooting and storytelling. People also complain about the story in Watch Dogs, but to me personally the story is not lackluster at all. Besides, if you were to get bored from a typical story mission, you could drive 30 km in the other direction and rob a store. Did I mention the multiplayer aspect and being able to hack other players? This game has focused on the hacking and multiplayer aspect instead of focusing on driving and a memorable story. Some people will enjoy this, others will undeniably hate it. IT IS COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE. But giving it a 0/10 is moronic, and frankly juvenile. I have only experienced one 0/10 game and that is RAMBO THE VIDEO GAME. If you seriously believe that Rambo the video game and Watch Dogs deserve the same score, then you must take a hard look in the mirror. And if you climbed aboard the Ubisoft Hype Train two years ago when this game was announced and was disappointed by the final product, then that is your own fault, not the developer`s fault!

One would think since Ubisoft is such a big company and they are now dealing with a more powerful system it would be better. The gameplay is fair to good. Depending on what you're doing in the game. Nothing really stands out as being great though in that regard. Certainly not much that is very fresh. The hacking is cool though and a nice feature. The driving isn't nearly as difficult as people are making it out to be. It just takes some practice. And, of course, it depends on which car you are driving. Some cars just don't have good handling, that's all. So, choose to mostly drive the cars that do have good handling. The story is the weakest part of this game by far. It's weak, standard, and sappy. Honestly this is a well developed sandbox games that in many ways surpasses GTA V. For one, it has a living breathing world of which the likes I have never seen before, seriously each resident doesn't feel like a lifeless AI whose sole purpose is to walk around, each resident performs a different activity, making Chicago all the more immersive.
The gameplay is ridiculous fun, the hacking ability provides something fresh and invigorating in the sandbox experience. Going into someones personal life or hacking things like pipelines, traffic lights and other such things makes you feel like a master hacker that can get into anyone's life.
Graphics were a controversial topic when it came to this game. The e3 2012 demo showcased some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a sandbox game, which only increased the hype to dramatic heights, unfortunately it was downgraded by a staggering amount due to it being a multi-platform release that included the aging ps3 and xbox 360. Don't get me wrong, the game still looks great for the most part, especially during the night while it is raining, that is a visual feast you must behold. The only reason I put this as a con is because ubisoft once again used false advertising to show us a game we will never fully get, which of course is going to upset users because you played with our expectations, which is unfair.

Another con, surprisingly, is the story. While is showcases many interesting characters who are portrayed with top quality voice acting and animation, the story just seems a bit uninspired. Its tone is inconsistent, segments if the campaign are riveting with cliches, and quite frankly I'm not a fan of the protagonist, at one point he acts like a complete badass by threatening people in subtle ways and sometimes very unsubtle ways and then in the next scene we see him as a family man, his character just seems sporadic and all over the place.
Overall Watch Dogs is an excellent sandbox game that is bustling with activities and sidequests that will keep you occupied for hours. It adds a unique gameplay element that helps distinguish itself from being a gta clone and has some pretty great graphics. I give it an 8 out of 10, if it weren't for a few missteps with the campaign and the false advertising led by ubisoft, this would have most likely been my GOTY

Amazing gameplay, and a fantastic parkour system with the hacking information, database, bank account, and all that incredible engine. The bad part was, this damn Canadian made the worst story for this game. I was really bored watching the Canadian envirovment was brought to America, Their story dosent make any goddamn sense! loved it.UBISOFT created an amazing masterpiece. Watch Dogs runs great without any issues. Most people that complain are most likely people that know nothing about gaming PC's or have sub par gaming rigs. I run the game on ultra at 55/60fps using an I7 2700, GTX780, 16Gig Ram.

Story is amazing, plenty of stuff to do in this vast open world to keep you busy for hours and hours. Give

Absolutely great game. Only Infamous Second Son can be compared with this game, leaving GTA5, Saints Row4 or other open worlds, waaaay behind.

The game is original, the whole idea of hacking your surroundings is an interesting one, and even though the gameplay around it is very simple now (you push one button), it can be greatly polished in the future and can easily be improved. The

The graphics looks stellar. A couple of bugs here and there, and the problem that people pop-in close when you're driving at high speeds, but that's a small price to pay compared to how great the overall visuals look. The character is detailed and polished, the environment is well designed, and everything creates a realistic and beautiful atmosphere.

Solid story, interesting and fun to follow.

    Great multiplayer as well.

Good game, if you did not expect it to be the GTA killer, I am impressed with what the devs have done with the game I wish there is a bit of real hacking where you type in commands and such don't really like the puzzle hacking part of the game

Combat in Watch Dogs is great with some good shooting mechanics and it has stealth if you want to be a ninja in a trench coat. The weird thing about Watch Dogs is how they screw up one of the most important things in a free roaming game, the driving. It has some weird physics and some simply bad driving mechanics. I haven’t written anything about the story yet well that’s because it’s quite bad and the main character Aiden Pearce is as interesting as a rock.
Well the story about Aiden Pearce who lost his niece in a ordered hit on him now his out for some vigilante justice. I really like the game but don’t buy a ps4 or an xbox one just for Watch Dogs.

While I am a bit disappointed, for reasons I can't really describe, the hate this game is getting makes no sense to me. The city looks great, the AI of the citizens is solid for the most part, and it has very solid "play for a couple hours nonstop" value. Hacking is fun and the missions build a lot of suspense. I also like the fact that they build Aiden's story and give him a personality. While I am a bit disappointed, for reasons I can't really describe, the hate this game is getting makes no sense to me. I also like the fact that they build Aiden's story and give him a personality. Graphics are pretty chippy though, which I was pretty disappointed about. Something does feel wrong to me, I can't pinpoint exactly what that is, but it is no GTA V. While it did fail to meet the high expectations, I think that maybe we should be more grateful that we have a GTA-esque game for the next gen consoles. There's nothing to hate about this game except for the letdown of only being pretty good as opposed to the greatest game of all time. Expand

I was unsure about watch dogs for the first couple of hours, but once you get accustomed to the systems in the game it becomes fantastic. Great stealth mechanics and a fantastically realised open world - it's like a hybrid of splinter cell, assassins creed and gta. Hacking and tracking other players is great fun as well. Highly recommended.

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.
