Don't get why people are giving this 0/1. Maybe it didn't live up to the hype but it certainly deserves a 7.5 at least. Watch Dogs is a great game with a great city atmosphere. The driving is ok but could do with work, the story is pretty good as are the characters. the hacking is the games strong point however, and this game will keep me entertained for hours.

Watch_Dogs plays like Assassin's Creed. Even much of the hacking just takes the place of pickpocketing. I'm playing on an Xbox 360 and I think the graphics look great. I can't wait to explore all of this virtual Chicago. Basically if you like the AC series, you'll probably like Watch_Dogs. If you prefer a little more energy and chaos, stick to GTA V.

First, don't compare it to any GTA game. It's not a GTA game and was never meant to be a GTA game. EVER. It is its own beast.

I'm going to give it a quick and easy run-down.

It really saddens me all the hate this is getting, it means someone is really ruining a triple-A game for them, at the same time, I wish I hadn't finished the game yet, or if I can repeat some of the epic missions without losing any progression. However, the side missions are satisfying.

All in all, the game is really good, not game-of-the-year good but GTA good. And I don't like comparing it to GTA, since each had its own purpose and both have their merits.
Play it, you won't regret it.

Oh, the multiplayer is a nice addition an might the best I've seen in an open-world game.

I do not understand the hate that this game is getting, I really dont. I do however understand that this game is a fantastic sandbox action adventure game that has fun side missions and an immersive story.

Watch Dogs has a plentiful supply of action and also has an enjoyable amount of stealth, as you can easily get out of harms way if you are not a stealth oriented person thanks to the fluid movement and shooting mechanics. Throughout the game are random encounters with criminal activity and other side missions were you must stop the criminals either by lethal or non lethal means, this choice allows you to choose if you want to be a hated vigilante or a praised batman like vigilante. Hacking which plays a big role in the game is just as fun as blowing someones head off with a shotgun in game, hacking through your mobile phone is as easy as it is customizable, the fluid camera to camera movement allows you to see the entire battlefield and manipulate anything with a wifi connection to kill enemies and move things to better afford movement. The driving and hacking makes running from the otherwise difficult police a breeze as you can manipulate almost anything on and off the road to accompany your escape.

There are some faults to the game though, even minor as they are they can still get on your nerves. If you go into watch dogs expecting GTA esque car driving and shooting you will be disappointed as the driving is more like the driving you get from sleeping dogs and you are not able to shoot from your car. The apparel customization while fun and colourful is beaten down by the fact that you can not preview the expensive clothing before you buy it. There is very little gun customization which is odd for a game with so many firearms in it, an example being the only way to customize your gun is to unlock the same one with a silencer of other attachment through uplay (which you must connect to if you would like to unlock any of the cool things it has.)

The online portion of the game borders on fun and annoying as you can jump into anyones game without them knowing and chase them around stealing their money. On the other hand people can jump into your game without you knowing and steal your money, while fun at times the amount of people joining your game in a day can get really annoying.

In short Watch Dogs is a great game that has some minor annoyances that add up to a single issue, the game could have been refined into a more seamless game earning it a 7 out of ten from me.

Watch Dogs, aside from a terrible title, fumbles in its ugly, clumsy man-hands, a terrible nonsensical narrative, underwhelming character mechanics, ridiculously outdated physics, and even after keeping my distance for over a year; going back to this game with the mentality of a last-gen mop up; I can't emphasize enough just how infuriating the pacing, character, and plot development really is. It's unsatisfying when it should be clutch-critical, incredibly ridiculous when it's implied to be intimate, and lofty with a constant "head in the clouds" delivery when all the performances suggest there should be a great gravity about the situation. Its bad enough that the main character is supposed to be emotionally distraught yet through game-demanding-actions consistently falls to express that, but to force the player to become just so distraught over things like game mechanics and plot development, is not only a cheap parlor trick, it's an express ticket to "wtf review-land". If you're like me and gave this game a (cough* second *cough) chance, please, for the love of all that is holy, refrain from doing so and save whatever resource it would take you to acquire it. Money, time, pride, favors of one sort or another; just spare yourself the grief and stay away from this slog. This is literally the first game I have ever played which made me wish I could get back every single second I spent in it. Every would-be redeemable element of this game odd so strongly overshadowed by disappointment that even playing through to remind myself how it concluded was something I simply could not stomach. Worst. Game. I. Have. Ever. Played. And yes, I did play the original ME3 ending. Watch Dogs, as it sits now, is not only not worth the time. It's an insult to the industry. This makes HAZE feel understandably hyped. Expand

I will break this down into three sections, the first will be the graphics, the second will be the game play mechanics and the final is on the game itself.

GRAPHICS; Billed as a next-gen title, I believe that the graphics are a bit of a letdown, the pale in comparison to InFamous Second Son and the latest installment of Killzone Shadow Fall where the graphics were crisp and clear. The graphics on this game are comparison to GTA V. They are good for the PS3 and XB360. but are not mind blowing for XB ONE and PS4. The graphics suffer in the PS4/XBONE, especially in the day time sections where the although they look good, I found them to look just as good as a last-gen game. In some daytime section the characters look stiff and the textures are not as clear as one would expect. The shadows were muddy and the people had no expression. Now the surprising part is that on nighttime missions, the graphics shine through as if it were being played on higher setting. In my opinion the PS4 outshine all the other consoles except for PC's on the higher settings. Even on the PS4 it is a bit of a letdown. (Five out of Ten Stars).

GAME-PLAY MECHANICS; The games has excellent game-play mechanics. The cover system is responsive, the shooting is stellar and the controls are tight, especially when driving. The only problem I had with the game play is the tiny hacking instructions which I had a hard time reading. I have a 54 inch set and found it a bit hard to read. Another problem is that once you're spotted, (as in stealth play) you must react fast or else the auto restart system kicks in and you start where you left off. The menus are good and the game can even show you yours waypoint if you en able it, this makes things much easier, since its a huge game. (Eight out of Ten Stars)

GAME; This game is huge, it is an ambitious project with a lot of missions, side stories, online components and other side games that will make this game a high replay value. It will take you a good twenty hours just to complete the main campaign, which does not include collectibles, trophies, audio files, music, side games ranging from slots to a racing zombie type game. If you thrown in the online component and you'll instantly add hundreds of hours in an living breathing city that changes constantly. Other than some repetitive dialogue abd you can enjoy this games for months to come. (Nine out of Ten Stars).

Watch Dogs is a great game that has some great ideas like being able to hack into people's personal lives and even hack cameras to gain better vantage points. While the driving can be a little finicky at times, there is still plenty to enjoy with this game. Since there aren't many games for the new systems I would definitely recommend picking this one up.

The problem is, people's expectations was too high. Everybody should've know that it won't be a world breaking game, it's an usual Ubisoft game. Who played Ubisoft games before should've know what to expect.
I have 10-12 hours in the game, and most of the time I just wandering around in Chicago and profiling people, stop crimes etc. I did 6 main missions because there are so much content in this.

Police chases in gta5 consist of driving from the cops as fast as possible. Police chases in watch dogs consist of setting off steam pipes, causing traffic jams with traffic lights, causing rising bridges, road blockers, opening garage doors for short cuts, and others. All done with a press of a button. Like a combination of the games split/second and ridge racer.

This is just one example. How about the great stealth mechanics? Hacking citizens/citizen profiling? Massive skill tree? Huge arcade minigames at the push of a button? Not to mention great graphics and sound.

I've played it for a week and I'm already calling it one of the best games ever made; I can't put it down. Calling it 'just gta5' is so uninformed that it makes me wonder if the people saying it have ever even played a single videogame at all (however, gta5 is a great game in it's own right). -Graphics: Ok, Most negative scores I've seen are guys complaining about the graphics, saying things like: "This game is not even close to the E3 version bla bla bla *sniff sniff sniff*" I went to youtube and watch some of these E3 videos and well, yeah, they are right, graphics are way better (And by way better I mean less jagged lines and smoother shadows, I can't notice any real big difference worth mentioning, yeah call me blind or whatever get over it).
Overall running WAtch Dogs in a 1080p tv looks great and runs great.

-A.I.: I take my hat here and applaude Ubisoft. Seriously I mean, cops are so fu(k!ng agressive, pursuits take so much time and require that you use everything at your disposal to get rid of them. Chasing criminals is another great aspect worth mentioning because when you are running to catch them it is not a "run straight pursuit", for example, when they get to a place where its possible to climb they will, change their direction, etc. Also people react very good to your behavior, get too close and they'll say that you are making them uncomfortable. Take your gun out and they'll call the cops. So many other things I could mention but don't think they could fit in here.

-Gameplay: This section has its pros and only a few cons (In my humble opinion). First I want to point our how good the game react to the control, I mean is so smooth that really catches you. Aiden movements and animations are great and discreet like the hacker he is. Collisions with people and other objects are great too. Overall, I think that the way Chicago is depicted here as a WHOLE is amaizing.
Driving is my only complaint, its not bad but, somehow it feels like hard at the beggining. It only takes some time and practice to get used to. (By the way, when you drive a car or anything, you can put the camera inside car and see your hand and steering wheel, I mean, how COOL is that :D).

-Length: Chicago is your playground, use it, make it your B!TCH. I bought the day one edition and have almost 10 hours registered. There is some much stuff to do in this game, 10 hours and I've only completed the first quest of chapter one, I tend to get distracted causing accidents, hacking other players, chasing criminals, being a criminal (Armed robbery lol)...and the list goes on. Go online and the length grows indefinitely: Races, 1vs1 Hacking, team hacking, etc.

-Sound: Last but not least, the sound. In one word AMAIZING. The music selection is great, from Rock to blues or jazz for those rainy days in Chicago. Once I hacked a Camera and laughed like a maniac listening the conversation of two guys (Apparently one of them got FRIENDZONED).

I give this game 10, it has its unpolished aspects like every other game but the way this game traps you is simply amaizing. Been a long time since I felt so eager to sit down in my couch and play a game. I thank Ubisoft for this.

One more thing I want to point out is some of the reviewers on Metacritic that somehow gave the game a 0. Like really, whats the point. Making fake reviews like that. Ubisoft spent 4 years making the game, and is that all they got? A zero? Its not like its a horrible game, its pretty decent. Many games nowadays suffer from over hype, even being unfinished. Many people say it delivers little to what it promised, but one only needs to look at it's very similar 'rival' GTA V which was plagued with launch problems both offline and notably online. Yet it's still people's favourites. Without GTA V Watch Dogs would have been more accepted but people's desire to see things crash and burn covers their vision and makes them blind to what really matters.
What Watch Dogs delivers is an enjoyable 40+ hour game with plenty of content ready for your enjoyment. If you decide to take the time out of the main mission there are many activities to embroil yourself in, including many online modes (which were all active from day one).
The driving is clunky, the online may take a long time to connect, the graphics on your average computer you bought from PC World aren't as good as the graphics represented at E3 2012 but all in all does that really matter. Most games have bad driving unless they aren't GTA V.
Watch Dogs has a lot of people using the 'as long as you enjoy it' card. Which is true, but it is a decent game. One that could perhaps do with a few updates. But if GTA V can launch half finished and succeed so can Watch Dogs.
This review may not have convinced people but hopefully it will at least certify some people's thoughts. Don't believe everything you read, but if you do read a lot.

If you love open-world games then this is a must buy. People should not have expected WD to outclass GTA V. Rockstar have had over a decade to perfect the formula and it's going to be a while before somebody takes the crown from them. WD is not as refined as GTA V but can be just as detailed and engrossing.

The hacking aspects work really well and do not feel like they have been tacked on. Gunfights (on realistic difficulty) are unforgiving and just one misstep results in death, planning (and surveying the environment with your hacking abilities) is the key to survival. The car handling is really sluggish and takes some getting used to but you can live with it. Collateral damage is frowned upon which is a nice change as it forces you to act more like an actual vigilante and protector rather than half good-guy, half spree killer. The police are like wild dogs and will hunt you without restraint if you are caught doing something you shouldn't be which again forces you to plan your actions accordingly.

The sound design is not as rich as it could have been and is my main complaint. The city itself is a bit too 'quiet' and the level of noise pollution could have been ramped up. There is a pseudo-radio triggered when driving around which occasionally broadcasts news clips relevant to in-game events. Sadly, these news tidbits are completely forgettable. The music selection is absolute dick. There are around thirty songs and you can acquire more in-game by hacking them from the phones of NPCs, unfortunately most of the songs are just rubbish. To the best of my knowledge all the bands/artists are Chicago affiliates e.g. Elmore James and there is a modest amount of Chicago Blues in the roster along with a few nice 70s ballads. The amount of rap on the soundtrack is criminal. I have no problem with rap but the stuff on here is just no good and there is so much of it! The 'rock' selection is comprised of awful whine-core and even the inclusion of Smashing Pumpkins does not ease the pain as their contribution is dire. It is representative of modern radio I guess, loads of stations but nowhere worth getting off. Clearly though Ubi just went cheap on the music licensing and opted to go for an affordable set of songs instead of a set of good ones. The online invasion mode built into the SP can be thrilling/infuriating and changes the dynamic of the game in a unique and engrossing way.

Facial animations are very bland and the daytime portions of the game are graphically the most boring. Most days are overcast so the colours are often drab. Evening/nighttime and during thunderstorms the game looks best.

I have to deduct two points for the abysmal bargain-bin song selection (it really does cheapen the experience) and lacklustre sound design.

One mission will never play out the same way twice. Every time I have played, I've seen things happen that are so crazy, you would think that they are scripted, but they are not! It's all the reaction from the NPCs and the environment around you, to your actions and choices. I am very picky when it comes to video games, but I gotta say that you have to respect how well this game came together. I did not found bugs that influenced the gameplay really much. I find it entertaining and the way they managed the hacking is well done. All in all it's a great game. For me probably even the GOTY!

Let's get the crucial questions out of the way first: Is this game as good as GTA V in terms of dialogue, gunplay and carplay? No, all these features are better in GTA V. Is it as fun as GTA V? No, all these features are better in GTA V. Is it as fun as GTA V? Yes. This is Ubisoft's first foray into a modern open world on the scale of GTA IV / V and it's an admirable first step. The gun controls could be tighter - the game should have an auto-aim system with soft lock-on as with GTA V, but the existing controls are certainly decent, and when bullet time is enabled it does auto-lock onto heads when you aim close to them. The car controls are a let down but nowhere near as bad as some reviews claim; the first car you drive in the game at the end of the beginning tutorial sequence drives horribly, but immediately afterwards you can "call in" a car of your choice, and most handle much better. High-speed car chases require you to brake a bit instead of drifting round corners due to the heavy vehicle handling, but that's fine once you accept it's necessary. The joy of this game comes from the still-very-capable gunplay, gameplay, hacking, and a world as alive as GTA's - maybe not quite as many intriguing landmarks, but awesomely detailed, great people animations, and tons of mini-games and sidequests. The hacking is a brilliant mechanism: jump from camera to camera hacking people/devices along the way, jump to a security guard's helmet camera and see what he's seeing, wait for him to inspect a control panel then hack it to explode it and take him out. Very cool. All in all this game is brilliant fun, has loads of content, and is worth your money despite its gun/car play inferiority to GTA V. Expand

There is improved AI. For example, guard, if he didn't see you, will continue shooting to last place where he saw you. Also, quardians' behavior model changes every time you dying and trying to replay the mission.
There is a giant amount of information about people, it makes Chicago extremely realistic. you can hear their phone

Let me tell you, I am reviewing this without playing xbox version, I don't care, I am purely reviewing the GAME not the system.

The game looks great, there are a few minor flaws that any critic could point out, but in such a massively detailed game like this, that is going to happen. I bought this game Friday afternoon and wasted a perfectly beautiful weekend outside, because I was hooked to this game, so much so that I had a headache from staring at the TV too long haha.

Overall, I give it a 9.5/10. Really the only reason for that is it would have been nice to get some better music... and maybe I just haven't unlocked some songs that I like yet. Since I can't do 1/2 points i'll round up to a 10. Definitely one of the better games I have played on PS3 or PS4 so far. Reminds me a lot of Red Dead Redemption in the way you attack gang hideouts and such. If you want to compare it to GTA, I would say it is better, just because I for one start to lose interest in the GTA games, they seem much too repetitive, this one keeps your interest for longer.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure your ammo refills itself. I think you can see where I am going with this review; Watch Dogs is a very fun contradiction of itself, so long as you don't take it too seriously. PS game trailers are almost never an accurate representation of how the finished product will look. It's not right, but it's the way it is. You can't speed around town, kill a bunch of people and expect them to like you. I get why Ubisoft made the mechanics the way they did.

Watch Dogs is an incredibly deep game. I've played about 20 hours so far and have played far enough into the story to get a little feel for it, but barely scratched it because there is always a distraction to take you away from the main story in Chicago. The first night I had Watch Dogs I wandered across a Coffee Shop with a chess game that was set up as puzzles to take the opponents men out in 14 moves or less (basically taking a chess piece out every move). I figured the first three puzzles out fairly quickly. Then ran into trouble with the fourth one. My solution? Grab my chess board and set it up in front of me and work through the puzzle in front of me on my board. I spent 10 hours doing this solving 10 chess puzzles. Did it get me much in the game? Nope. Just some XP, completion points, and the satisfactory feeling of solving them. My point is this: The game successfully drew me away from the main story for 10 solid hours perfectly solving 10 silly chess puzzles. There all sorts of stuff like this in the game. And, for the MP in you, there is a little MP aspect with online hacking. Its a small diversion but its there for you, if that's your bag. And you're rewarded in Notoriety Skill points for completing these tasks, which helps you in the game.

Watch Dogs, by far, isn't perfect. It's not Pulitzer Prize writing. I don't expect that from my games though. If you are looking for a very very solid game that will give you a great story with a great time sink in diversions while you are waiting for "Name your game here" in August (or later), then Watch Dogs will give you easily a 100 hours of gaming. Watch Dogs is everything a game should be. It is fun. It isn't tedious, and after you've been playing you wonder how the hell 2 or 3 hours could've gone that far. For the money you will spend, you will be justly rewarded, plus some.

I HIGHLY suggest getting this as a buy.

I would say that this game is probably one of the best games of 2014 to date.

Its like GTA V and Assassin's Creed had a love child, then that child had a love child with Need For Speed Most Wanted.

The story is pretty engaging, and the open world really feels very lively.

Not to mention -- this game is HARD. If you are looking for a challenge, this is definitely the right game for you.

Watch Dogs is a beautifully made game. There is much to do and explore. I hear people complaining about the driving mechanic, It is a bit off at first but after a half and hour of playing, you get used to it.
The other thing I noticed in this game is the amount of Illuminati symbolism for all you conspiracy theorists out there. I would say this game is worth buying and playing. I am enjoying it.

This game on the PS4... I can't even explain. It had magnificent graphics and the controls were easy to use. The only thing that I'm not too impressed with is the story. I feel in the amount of time they had spent making this game, they could have created a much better story. They should have put more time into the multiplayer too but overall, the game is really good.

The driving isn't nearly as faulty as it's made out to be, I actually quite enjoy driving in this game. The graphics are nice, and the weather changes create very realistic and dynamic environments. Gameplay does not remind me of GTA either, outside of jacking peoples cars.

Overall great game, can't wait to get home, pack a fatty, and spark this game up.

All these bad reviews are hilarious, people claiming to be dissapointed from what they saw at E3. THe graphics in this game are great, and the game is exactly as advertised, AWESOME.

The multiplayer is a breath of fresh air, very fun. The story is decent, a fairly average revenge tail but the gameplay and all the side activities are greatly done.

Driving DOES feel a little bit off, and I find myself ping-ponging back and forth in narrow alleys and running over a LOT more people than I mean to. I also have a tendency to over-steer, and trying to pay attention to the UI (map, hacks, weapon selection, prompts) makes it hard to stay on the road - maybe it's intended as a life lesson (don't text and drive!), but it makes for a sometimes frustrating driving experience. Using the GPS system helps, and I suspect that once I learn the city better I will be running over fewer innocent bystanders. I think the key to driving in Watch Dogs is to slow down and plan ahead - it will be rare to simply outrun the cops so don't even try... use your hacks and stop their pursuit instead.

Story seems a little bland so far, but maybe it will pick up later. If not, it's still an engaging open-world experience worthy of an 8 in my book.

But it is strangely intriguing to escape the police by stopping a train, jumping in and drive on.
Also there's some stealth gameplay when taking out gangs and racing gameplay when driving challenges (although car handling is waaaay out the window and actually quick frustrating as your over civilians for penalty).
There's gameplay where you stop crime where it can be difficult to avoid detection (eagle eye NPCs) and then take down the culprit at the right time. So there's a good deal to do - but as said - most of the time it's rather uniform and ultimately simplistic.
It's also completely overpowered that you can almost instant hack from surveillance camera to camera and blow up bad guys that way - but I guess it would be difficult to make a proper stealth game when the theme is hacking.
Money in the game comes from just randomly hacking civilians back accounts and then going to an ATM - again - rather simplistic.
The story I've not advanced much but it is also a minor thing compared to the sandbox game.

I did get some sort of hacking mini-game when hacking a cTOS tower, but there wasn't much game in the mini-game as it was just pressing some nodes to allow a data flow.

I did try an on-line portion and this might be where the game shines a bit more. There are a number of missions where you either hack or prevent hacking from real life player enemies and some driving contests (which given the handling of the cars could be quite chaotic). Unfortunately I suck in this game and failed my first on-line mission terrible - so newbies might get run over by experienced players and that would kill the on-line part for newcomers and detract a lot from their experience - but I think the online part could be an addictive and different experience compared to so many other games. Especially if they expand a bit on the missions and make a few more non-combat missions.

All in all - the game is decent enough in smaller doses (I don't see myself playing 4 hours in a row) and does have a lot of qualities. But it is let down by simplicity which makes me wonder what they've actually spend all the time on.

The city is beautifully created - but as always with all these games. There's not much to do as most building are closed to you. A lot of civilians are rendered giving a nice populated feel to the city, but these moving objects are little other than ways to get cash.

For a game with the hacking theme I feel this game misses it mark and it could have been much more fleshed out instead of just pressing Q to hack traffic lights, Q to hack trains, Q to hack signs, Q to hack for money, Q to .... well, you get my drift. It could just as well be any theme game.

But all in all - it still is strangely fun, but it just falls short. It's definitely not a 9 or 10 game but neither is it a 0 or 1 game.
    7/10 from me so far.

First off, I hadn't followed any news about this game prior to launch. I hate being disappointed because of hype. The only knowledge I had was that it's a sandbox game with a vigilante hacker in it.

At first I was quite surprised finding myself playing a version of GTA. I wasn't quite sure if it was a good surprise or not. The controls didn't seem quite right and the overall feeling was not like I expected it to be. The beginning seemed a bit forced and I couldn't play the game for long at a single sitting.

It didn't take me too long to get over the controls and it seemed quite enjoyable after getting some skills unlocked. The invasions irritated me at first, but once I got the mechanics behind it, I started to love the concept. Hacking is usually quite fun, though a bit simple to my taste. There could be another dimension to it.

    My problems with the game:
    1. I expected there to be more possibilities for playing smart. I don't mind violence in games in general, but the vigilante theme would benefit from having less violent solutions in general IMO. Too GTA now.
    2. Super repetitive and simple side missions. Some of them could be more random events you'd pick up when walking in the streets and it would force you to react on the spot. Now the events wait for you to pick it up when it suits you.
    3. The immersion is just not there. I think it's because I'm annoyed with the inconsistency of the main character. The moral compass is spinning like crazy. It's too easy just drop this and to pick up another game.

Overall it's a fine game, but there's so much missed potential. l suppose there will be a sequel, but I'll wait for the reviews before buying it. While I don't regret buying this game, it's not quite the unforgettable masterpiece it had the potential to be.

Let me start with pointing out the good things. What caught my attention first - the game has fantastic soundtrack from the very start, it fits the atmosphere perfectly. Then there's the whole hacking part - the main reason I would play Watch Dogs over GTA V any day - it makes a gameplay more varied and adds that little something to the story. The game's open world is beautiful, and it's rather massive - though frustrating at times. Also I'd like to point out the variety and scale of side quests, in-game as well as online - they definitely keep you busy along the main quest.
For the not-so-good side of the game... My main complaints are the story and the protagonist. The story looked very promising in the beginning, but somewhere very soon it melted down to the usual "someone offended the good guy-now good guy kills everyone" storyline - and that's connected to the other thing I hated about the game - it has to have the most boring protagonist I've seen in a very long while; after the second half of the game I kept playing basically to know what happens with side characters who were a lot more interesting than the protagonist himself.
Also at times the game reminded me of GTA so much, I wondered how Ubisoft hasn't been sued yet.

So, I'd say Watch Dogs is a decent game, it can keep you entertained for a while, although be warned not to put your hopes too high up with this one.

The graphics are beautiful, this is a great game to showcase the power of the PS4. Great lighting, pretty good texture quality, nice post-processing effects and great lighting. (yes I said that twice). I just have to emphasize how fantastic the lighting effects are. At night time, seeing the light from the streetlights illuminate the dark city is really nice. I could give this game a 10/10 just from the graphics.

But games aren't all about graphics, which brings me onto gameplay.
The hacking technique used to manipulate your environment is definitely interesting and fun at first... But play the game a little longer and you'll quickly find it to become boring. There's not much variety in the objects you can hack into, I found myself just hacking into the same things every time in combat. Like the explosive phones, roadblocks, bridges, etc.. It's just boring after using it 10 times.
The gunplay in the game is very nice. Though, I'd like to be able to shoot without aiming down my sight at some points, but that's a minor complaint, so I don't care all that much. The cover-to-cover movement is nice, and is fun to use to get around enemies as well.

    Story
I don't want to spoil it, so I'll just say this: disappointing.

The city is ALIVE. you can walk down the street and eavesdrop on conversations; I've heard at least 40-50 conversations, and they've never repeated once. You can hack text messages and read some pretty hilarious private conversations. People are walking everywhere, cars are all over. It feels just right. I've witness car accidents I've had nothing to do with and watched the drivers get out and argue with each other. I've passed by a motel and watched a women yell at a man from the topstairs balcony about infidelity. I've heard freestyle rap, and caught two people "in the act." You can spy on people inside their homes and observe peeping toms (ironic), people dancing in their underwear, and all sorts of shennanigans.

It's a game with a lot of personality and content. Very solid, but I would hesitate to say it's the "game changer" people were looking for. A solid 8.5-9/10, but a 10 to offset the influx of 0's people gave it minutes after it was released (I.E. without playing it)

This could have been much better game but it ended up being just an open world game full of missions, side missions and tones of content to try to make you feel busy. It made me feel only empty. It looks as it wants to be close to the GTA in a way but it is far from it in a sense of gameplay quality. It has an average story and tons of side missions that do not offer anything but "go thereThis could have been much better game but it ended up being just an open world game full of missions, side missions and tones of content to try to make you feel busy. This game is no better and no worse than GTA 5 it's just different. It plays like a mixture of a few Ubisoft titles. Movements like Assassians Creed, stealth like Splinter Cell, and gunplay like Ghost Recon Future Soilder. You can even craft items like Far Cry 3. I must say though that going from GTA 5 driving to Watch Dogs ties some getting used to because the cars feel heavier and more realistic. None of this E blacking every turn like GTA. Once you got it down it become awesome fun. The drivers seat view is a welcome plus as well. Again Great Game! Expand

Great game and a lot of fun. Didn't live up to the hype, but how many games do? Its a a fun open world game that isnt as generic as GTA but is still held back by being cross generation. Too bad it wasn't built only with the current gen consoles in mine. So much potential to build on for the future

Surprisingly good looking and interesting game, especially after a lot of negative reviews before release. Another proof that ubisoft can make nice open world.

So far the game is pretty good. Different enough from GTA to be interesting in a distinct way; and I appreciate the realistic version of Chicago. I never cared for the way in which GTA's cities are so clearly designed to be part of a game full of ramps and other nonesense. There is more simulation in this representation of Chicago; it is less a series of areas prepped to function as setSo far the game is pretty good. The low review scores by people here I guess are because they feel misled by the original trailer. I have the PS4 version and it definitely does not look as good as that trailer, but it's not far off. The over-the-top high graphic trailer was most likely on a maxed out pc anyway. Not to be expected on PS4.

Okay, maybe overrated but still a very good game. Graphics are truly next gen and Chicago is beautiful, detailed and alive. Watch Dogs plays well, no frame rate issues or lagging.

Gameplay includes fun stealth action, car chases (car controls are a bit stiff but you'll get used to it), shooting, hacking, fighting crime and other stuff. Missions are sometimes similiar but it doesn't feel repetitive thanks to the varied level design. Not a hard game, but challenging at some points, especially if you want to be sneaky.
There's some annoying things on character controls, like you can't shimmy on ledges, climb up tall walls or jump between gaps. Parkour and controls in general are much better in Assassins Creed in my opinion. Hacking is really easy, just one button. Hacking is a fun way to mess with your enemies. Create blackouts, blow up things, control traffic and make distractions.
People on the streets look realistic and natural but their A.I is pretty bad. For instance if you even scratch the sidewalk when driving a car they freak out. Even if you're slowly parking on the side of the road and you get a little bit on the sidewalk they start yelling and sometimes they start fleeing. Cops can be also dumb as hell.
I'm having fun playing this, the storyline is good so far. Worth the money for sure. GTA 5 is better than this though.

I don't know why some people give this a 5 or below, 6 or 7 would be understandable because it was somewhat disappointing to me and to no doubt, other people. It certainly has it's flaws and was over hyped, but doesn't make it a horrible game. Watch dogs is unique in it's own way because of the hacking you do, although it still pertains some things from other open world games. I thought the characters were solid and good, and the graphics are nice but nothing groundbreaking. The map is huge and there are tons of things to explore, with many side missions to go with them which is a HUGE plus. The main problem for me was the driving which I though was needs a huge improvement, making car chases a lot more harder than it needs to be. The combat is smooth and there are a wide array of weaponry to use. Overall this game has it's flaws in some ways like any other game but this imo, is worth the 60 bucks. Although I would just try the game for yourself and see if you like it or not, since this game seems to have mixed reviews which I guess depends on peoples preferences. Expand

This game is sensational! I can't put my controller down. At first i thought this was going to be a GTA clone. but this is far from a stealing cars and robbing people. Your character holds dark secrets and exceptional hacking skills. The game technology needs getting used to but after an hours gameplay and its there. So far its the best PS4 game I own.

This was a rather remarkable game. The game felt like it did linger off topic from time to time and the aim of the game felt shaky at times. however, when it all came down to the end, all the "loose fittings, all came together for a truly brain contorting finally. the use of a more relate-able theme to the audience adds to the immersing atmosphere.

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.
