This video game is great - guns - loot - shoot outs - pvp - pve - co-op - large world.

The enemies have HP pools and you cant head shot kill everything but i like that.
people who give this a bad review are just too hard to please and want video games to be more realistic then real life.

Please look at people's review history on this. One guy giving it a 1 rated The Order 1888 at a 10. Come on now. Some of these people are clearly damaged. Either that or the Division wasn't short enough or just didn't have enough guns made out of pipes and boilers running off the steam of Nicola Tesla's tears for that dude?

Great game, and you will find that the later reviews are more positive as well. I was skeptical but I definitely do not regret getting it. Graphics are great, and while there is a variety problem in terms of life missions, this will most likely be fixed with the free content update. As it is now though, this game has a TON of content and things to do, unlike most games these days.

Beautiful environment, great guns, loot story isn't naughty dog level, but i wasn't expecting a masterpiece in story, but that said the story was very well done, especially for MMO-Shooter. Way better of a story then destiny. AI is smart for the most part. There isn't ever a perfect AI system. Its very well done. Just the whole atmosphere that ubisoft has created here is just awesome, can not get enough. Haven't been this addicted to a game since destiny first lunched. Great game ubisoft. Does it have a problems a few bugs but all the positives far out way and bugs or glitch's. Must buy. Its like dioblo 3 and spec ops the line had a baby. Can't Wait to play. Great Job. Looking forward to all the DLC. Even if the quality of the DLC is half as fun as the main game it will be amazing. Expand

and a poor character customization which screams laziness.the guns mostly looks the same. with some color variations. enemies are just a meat shield that has no tactics.

at least the dark zone is incredibly fun to play. which makes my score higher. and a solid gun play is also a plus.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to play during the beta and bought it based on a friend's recommendation. Well, shame on me. The game, while beautifully recreating a post-pandemic (it is not post-apocalyptic folks) New York looks great left me with less enthusiasm and more outrage. I did my time with Destiny and was hoping for a similar experience, granted Destiny Vanilla was frustrating for most at least the game felt different depending on your playstyle and your loadout. The Division, while possibly better looking to some (I prefer/remember Destiny having a bigger impact for me) offers little in variation. Sure you have your skill-trees but everything else plays the same. The only difference in weapons are automatic, shotgun, marksman rifle or pistol. I got to level 15 and felt no difference in my armory. Visually your character looks roughly the same throughout, and the character design is very limited for a self-proclaimed RPG. On top of that the missions that I completed were repetitive and the NPC's were all the same annoying characterization of angry New Yorkers. It was grating. I was completely disappointed by the process and managed to return my copy luckily. Wait a year, and then buy this game. Maybe then it will live up to the hype because currently the Darkzone is busted (check out Forbes for a great article on that) and they've of course put up a huge paywall of DLC which is the norm now. This is a game that I can't stop playing. It is a great fun to play the story missions with other players through the excellent matchmaking system. There allows great cooperation with various skills and weapons offered.
The graphics are decent. However, it seems there's nothing interesting to do besides shooting at bad guys. Finding a missing person is boring to me.

This game does a hell of a lot more things right than it does wrong to start! A few issues aside like recycled dialogue and some clunky controls popping in and out of cover, but the little details from subtle to big are amazing, I mean I just saw a rat fighting with a crow and the rat won Lol! It's little things like that which makes this game so immersive and boy dos graphics!!!!!

Complaints about AI aren't fair, there is simply a play style you have to account for. Enemies flank. They take cover. They provide cover for rushing melee and flamethrower enemies. You can't rely on DPS, you have to work with your team mates to take down enemies methodically. It makes sense that a modern shooter will have enemies in body armor, so you have to shoot well, and the mechanics let you spray and pray or be methodical and accurate. Its more satisfying to use an assault rifle correctly, from the scope in short bursts as a gun actually performs in real conditions, that to get quick and easy kills due to auto aim or auto correct in other games. You either want this kind of shooter or you don't. If you do, there is an awful lot do as 5-10 minute side missions pop up everywhere alongside the 30 minute main missions, or just patrol the dark zone. It is far more solid a tactical shooter than you might be led to believe by the casual FPS crowd who want easy kill streaks. Good game. Not perfect, but very solid. Expand

The game is a Team-Based Rainbow 6 Cover RPG. It's all about finding gear, building up your stats and skills, finding new gear, staying behind a wall while unloading on enemies, and joking around about it with friends.

Multiple avenues in each mission for tactics. Spoken dialogue paints the scene and provides insight. Each mission is more or less a arena mode while waiting for waves of enemies to rush you - so if that's your thing more power to you. (I personally enjoy it.)

The "Open World" and "MMO" portions of the game are totally bland. Never see other teams or people wandering around (unless you're in the PvEvP areas.) NPC dialogue is recycled - a lot. Tons of collectibles all over the place (because Ubisoft games LOVE collectibles and radio towers.)

And you can shut car doors. Cause when the world goes to hell, everyone leaves their door slightly ajar.

Headshots and sniping is satisfying, modding and rerolling weapons is fun, the skills and abilities can be swapped for diversity of play.
    So why a 9?
Few things missing in the game which may or may not be fixed going forward with DLC and tweaks.
-Levels are massive and detailed and feel a touch empty at times regarding things to do. Fallout did this better somehow with more loot stashed in more places and more explore-able area's.
-For an RPG the story really feels lacking, why am I in the city, what am I doing, what's my end goal. It just needs more love. If the user isn't going to speak, take some notes from HL2. If he is going to speak look at Mass Effect to see how this is simply done better in both cases.
-Could use a bit better explanation of skills, talents, leveling, weapon stats, consumables. By the time I hit level 15 the game was half over and I'm only finally understanding how everything works. Maybe this is part of the fun but I've seen this done better many times eg. Mass Effect series.

This game does not let you play at all when the servers are not available or if your connection is down, so keep that in mind, me personally I think it is ridiculous not to have an offline game.

The game is great looking and I love the premise of the game and several other aspects but the fact that you have to shoot one enemy gunman 300 times before you kill him (in the head most of the shots) is a little too unrealistic. I hope it gets better as time goes on and they make improvements.

I tried to play the game this morning and the servers were down again for an estimated 3 hours. WHAT! That is ridiculous, I only have a short window of time to play usually and when I try to get on and the servers are down again it's just so disappointing. I worked as a network engineer and DBA and if my servers were down more than a few hours for the entire year I would be fired. Get it together UBISoft.

Although there are a few glitches in the game, it is to be expected but updates will solve these issues. While playing this game, I actually feel like a jason bourne type of agent. This is a deep mmo shooter rpg with a lot of content, unlockables, outfits, mods, weapon types, leveling skills.
The main thing that I love about it, is that it is a tactical shooter. Spray and pray will not help you. You need to use your surroundings to your advantage and there are different ways to conquer your foes. You can climb your way up on scaffoldings and shoot from above. If you are in a team of players/npcs you can also flank your enemy while your allies draw aggro. It's very similar to gears of war in that sense.
The only thing that dissapoints me with this game is the character customisation at the start. It is very limited for an rpg game. You have a few customised faces, and just a few hairstyles and facial hair types. The tattoos are only on the neck and the war paints are basic. You can't even choose your body type (I wanted to be a muscle bound guy). Secondly, You have these emoticon things (applaud, salute, clap, ask for help and jumping jacks). Now why the hell would you have jumping jacks?! Couldn't we have something cool like pushups??
Anyway, the game is still in its infancy and knowing ubisoft, there will be plenty of updates and dls.
My advice to you is get the game. It's worth every penny

Recall that this game has always been intended as an RPG not a shooter. As such, enemies need to not always die in one hit (many do, but not elites or bosses. that would be lame even in a shooter). As an rpg, there is an element of grinding required to level up and find good gear and the right loadout for you. The balance probably needs a little work, but the gameplay is amazing and fun. I don't even find myself minding the repetition due to the dynamics of the combat. I've done PvE only thus far as I am not a huge PvP fan, but it has kept me quite engaged with a good story and depth in the characters and enemies. The world feels alive, though dying (as it should) and the graphics are pretty fabulous, as a person who has worked in multimedia myself. The game feels fluid and customizing your gear is fun. Yes your character model does not have a huge array of options ,but enough to simulate most ethnic groups unlike many game which claim customization. In addition, most of the appearance customization comes in the form of apparel which are purely cosmetic items of clothing. So if you like rpgs with a more action-like combat pace, tactical shooting, and you enjoy fairly grim story arcs, this is a great game. The co-op play is great and easy with drop-in drop-out online play, and can even be a significant challenge if you want to play some of the story missions on harder difficulties. Expand

Leveling could be better and the stat system "especially DPS" is glitchy but overall it is an amazing game. I can't put the controller down because the thought of getting new better loot is too enticing. The Division is a great game and I can't wait for the free updates and the dlc.

It is an overall solid fun game to play. It does mix elements from different games but the most notable to me is Destiny meets Borderlands with the Gears of War cover system and a dash of an apocalyptic 3rd person GTA New York setting. The decent size open map is filled with things to do from protecting A.I. agents and securing supply drops from gangs to finding details on missing personnel. I could have used more variety in mission options to be honest. The missions can get repetitive after some time but they take place in different locations of the city as opposed to other games where you can run blindly thru the same map so at least that adds something new into the mix. I've also found some missing cell phones that have recordings on them with genuine sounding convos that people have had prior to and during the breakdown of New York and I can admit some are very well scripted. The overall structure of the game is to kill, loot and repeat. This might seem like an exhausted system that has scarred us but for what the game is, it works well. If you don't mind doing the grind routine and need a change from what was supposed to be a phenomenal game changer, this is your game. No this game is not going to set the bar nor will it be the last game you play but, it is no doubt a good game. I do think that with the delays and the time it took to put out the game, there are elements that could have been not necessarily changed but, made better. The cover system can get aggravating at time especially when enemies are starting to flank you from both sides and you movements can feel delayed and not smooth. The shooting is refreshingly inaccurate meaning you don't aim down the sights and all your bullets go straight. You have to try and hit your target and from a distance, you need to try harder. I've noticed that with full auto rifles you need to feather the trigger or the gun will run up on you and with marksman rifles you cant fire off 2 shots in quick succession due to recoil. Shooting does and will require some patience to get used to and no you cannot just run and gun. This game does rely on the cover system in order to survive which you should get used to if you want to make it thru.
    Multiplayer
For the campaign, teaming up with friends is pretty simplistic minus the friend you invite needing to click and hold a thumb stick which feels unnatural and can be confusing. This prompt can also be easily overlooked making it somewhat time consuming if you’re trying to get something going. Doing campaign together is fun though and adds a difficulty in it as now instead of enemies flanking just you, they are trying to get your partner/s and in turn they will start to focus on you if they come within range.
    Darkzone
This is what you play the campaign to be able to accomplish. Here the rules are simple, kill or be killed. You can go at it alone or with friends and you can be taken out by one or many. You find the best items in here and to obtain them, you need to level up both in campaign and in the Darkzone. The Darkzone brings a new tier of difficulty as the enemies are tougher and if any other players decide to go Rogue, you have them to worry about. Any loot is also up for grabs to the first person who wants it. In my experience, people have been considerate and you keep what you kill but any higher tier items you can expect to fight for. Someone take your drop? Kill them and take it back. Kill them and become marked as Rogue and now you are an enemy to everyone. You have to choose your battles wisely. This area is basically a harder version of the campaign except any items have to be air lifted out for decontamination… if you can survive the wait. The biggest downfall is higher level players trolling lower level for their gear. I’ve encountered this a few times but less often then I would’ve guessed.

Overall, I would suggest this game. It has its fun moments but it can get repetitive. The model is old and has been used more than its fair share of times but the fresh atmosphere and altered landscape of an iconic city provide a pleasant backdrop to taking on the streets. The blend of a few different games comes together quite nicely even with the few mechanical errors that take place. My biggest gripe is with the snowy Christmas setting, I feel this game should’ve come out in the Holiday season 2015 to go with the times. Maybe they can do game updates and patches to match the seasons? Time will tell but for now, I have to clean up the streets.

This game consists of running to an objective, fighting waves of enemies, running to the next objective, fighting waves of enemies. Rinse and repeat for the next 20 hours or so. I ultimately found this game to be lackluster. In addition, there is plenty of cringe worthy dialogue that ruins immersion and makes the game overall feel less serious than what you would expect.

I also had one disconnect (hour 1/2) which seemed to be quite common across the community, since then (hour 2+) I've yet to be disconnected at all. Another slight niggle and although it isn't major could be an improvement, crafting! To generate 1 blue item (if you haven't already collected) you can use 5 greens which is fine until you have 250 to turn into 25 and have to sit there doing each one. It is also a shallow game as far as story is concerned, the fact is it' isn't that type of game, you will be putting a lot of hours into "the grind" and replaying missions; this is not a linear story. NPC's can also be a little annoying, mostly in dialogue, whilst wondering around the home base expect to hear the same line about 10 times before you leave.

One odd choice which seems to be in the game for no good reason is the second character, with one character you can and will unlock all abilities meaning to create a second character would only serve one purpose to play with mates who are lower level which you can still do with a higher level, albeit easily.

I've seen a lot of reviews and people talking about the enemies being bullet sponges and yes, they are but you are playing an MMORPG, other games such as Destiny etc can mask that with the fact they're aliens which The Division cannot, it's trying to combine a realistic scenario with MMORPG gameplay and you have to step back and appreciate that.

After 30 hours I'm more than happy with the game and the daily missions are a nice touch, allowing me to continue with the game and feel like there's still something worth playing for and with the introduction of DLC over the next three months (free and paid) I'm looking forward to seeing what that has to offer as well. Matchmaking is a plus too, when you need to grab another three people for a mission on hard (and you will need to) the matchmaking seems to work quite well in finding other players for you to game with. The map is absolutely massive, thankfully fast travel is there to help facilitate that but if you did decided to walk it the scale and way everything seamlessly allows you to pass through zone to zone is amazing.

Overall it's not quite there yet but there's a solid base to build upon.

You really can play single player and have a blast. It is even more fun with matchmaking. 24hrs in and I want 24 more. I generally play everything single player style, except when I use the matchmaker system for Story missions. I enter the DZ alone, and usually leave alone, using VOIP and grouping up as needed. This is a fun and well made game. It has some bugs, as all games do when they release nowadays, but I do not judge a game by it's bugs. Bugs will be fixed at some point or another. There are only two main reasons why i have to give this game a 9 instead of a 10.

    2. Although it is advertised as an MMO. It actually has a "drop in" style multiplayer like Destiny, Warframe, and Dibalo 3 where you can join other people's games and play with them, but you will never run into another person while out fighting and doing missions. There is one exception to this, the Dark Zone. The Dark Zone is how they can get away with calling this an MMO. It is an open MMO PvP zone where you get the best loot in the game. It's a fairly large zone(About 30-40% of the map).

TLDR: If you like Destiny, Planetside 2, or Defiance, you will probably like this game. Although, the game is not a perfect 10, I will be pouring many late night hours into it with friends.

Now onto a slightly less good bit the bullet sponges for enemy's is quite frustrating especially when you come up against enemies wearing armor and even worse when you come up against a pair of armored enemies. think i used around 1000 rounds to take down just one.

One bit of advise for tougher enemies make them fight on your terms keep movement levels high and drag the enemies all over the local area set traps for them with turrets and grenades and eventually you will wear down their armor and be able to take them down.

So for me, that's what makes a game great, Like a fresh love, you can't stop thinking about.

Just some remarks on reviews from other players:
    - Lifeless world: when your city is being destroyed by a lethal virus and being controlled by flamethrowing gangs, ready to incinerate you.. If I'm somehow still alive, I wouldn't be ropeskipping across town. So the city not being overrun with NPC's, isn't anything but normal in these conditions? It contributes to the overall atmosphere for me.
    - Bulletsponge enemies: It is a RPG. Every other RPG I've played had the same style of killing the enemy. P.e. Barret (FF 7) didn't kill enemies with a single head shot, so why would this be happening now? It is a RPG and plays like a RPG. So you can't really complain about it, I think. Anyhow, when fighting enemies of the same level as me, I've never had to put more then 1 clip into an enemiy or 2 headshots with my sniperrifle.

I've played about 18hours, only level 16 but had much fun just walking around and seeing where the game takes me. Random encounters, doing some missions. After 18 hours I've only scratched the surface.
I still have to start in the DZ and with the announcement of other DLC, I may have to resign my job, to keep up...

I play mostly solo and it's great. I've tried co-op with 2 friends and it was even better. Looking forward to the DZ which was great in the beta.

Just my 2 cents and mostly to rectify a little the major complaints I've heard about the game. Again, it's a RPG, taking place in a city, being destroyed by a virus and controlled by vicious gangs. It is what it is.

Sadly not as good as the reviews say. The fact that you have to empty an entire magazine into a base-level bad guy before they die is stupid. Bullets bounce off a target's skull because their HP says that they are still alive. It's sucks all the skill out of the game and is very frustrating when the enemies can simply plug you with a couple of shots in comparison. Not recommended.

The Division! that's right to combat all of the rioters and attempt to cure the virus or whatever.

This game is pretty fun even though the base game like so many others that are releasing being the fore runners of MMO's on console "cough" destiny "cough" has a pretty serious lack of content that guess what? will be fixed when the expansion releases. This isn't to say that the base game isn't fun because it really is especially if you play with others to complete your missions.

This game boasts a pretty cool mod section for your weapons being able to carry 3 in all, consisting of barrel, laser, for grip, magazine, and skin upgrades for your various weapons.
Being able to find clothing customize what your character looks like is pretty awesome i saw a guy yesterday that was dressed in what looked like a SS soldiers uniform however i may be mistaken.

The meat and potatoes of this game is the actual gameplay and while i hate to say it, is the vision of its potential, as you play the division you will constantly think to yourself what is the end game going to be like especially if you are coming from destiny because in MMO's usually the endgame is the best part of the game and the rest just being a grind, ubisoft didn't really do that to much honestly what you see is what you get besides the "Dark Zone" which is a massive PvP area for players that has the best loot in the game where you can team up or go it alone, however if you team up and go all Gomer Pyle and kill your teammates you will be marked as a rogue and face some seriously harsh penalties and whoever kills you will get a pretty hefty reward which has caused encountering rogue players to be pretty rare its usually just new guys doing it to do it once. That's pretty much the endgame....yeah.

So does this game have a lack of content? yes, does it remind you of vanilla destiny because of this? yes. however i really feel like the potential for the division is far greater than destiny's at this point ubisoft seems pretty content on having micro transactions be for items that don't affect progression or gameplay which is great. Ubisoft has been putting it out there of 8 man payer incursions which would be similar to raids in other games and time table for that? idk but hopefully in the first expansion they will extend it all a little bit we will see.

The Division at this point 7/10 due to lack of content but its about time somebody stepped up to combat destiny.

I did not tell anyone, did not read anywhere, I checked myself with my own eyes, graphically is not the same game as the beta even remotely, lighting, textures, shadows with amazing care, the map is cargadĂsimo, objects and details everywhere you look everything is alive, nothing is the same every corner has its identity, is incredible immersion, the huge difference to walk in the tunnels entering a desolate building or walk through the mythical streets of new york, is an epic map where you look as if this were not enough talk about that we can share online if better friends undoubtedly feel that're there for something that every step you take is up to you and you can not be alone and you'll always have to walk in groups.
All this in a context of apocalyptic plot, abandonment and decided where to walk at night is not for everyone.
Addictive gameplay with mechanical, weapons details and finishes that border on perfection, completely successful system coverage, the divison is for frantic, for tactical, to stealthy, covers all kinds of possibilities and tastes .The weapons feel alive each meets their function and are distinct.
We do not enter the dark zone the queen of the house according to all, I do not want to imagine what it must be that go to the suburvios to fight for items and other things with your group should be simply epic.
I could find failing at least for now in some missions that still seem to me meh based on the context in which it develops, but this is long and does not affect gameplay.
The fact of intertwining story development and online is tremendous.
Downgrade? if and so I was very critical for this too, but we who can deny what they accomplished, it nextgen is not only the graphic look, it is also able to enter every corner of the city and that nothing resembles another you've been, that each rincon has as its object the cycle change is strong in lighting and immersion, almost human movements agent when walking.
No doubt it is impossible to believe that with his background ubisoft us like product, I still can not believe it, and in this case noblesse oblige as the title tells you again ask forgiveness ubisoft this is a great game!

There are however some things to consider before running out to buy this game.

First off its not a FPS! This game does not play like an FPS it doesn't have the same pace as an FPS and the set of skills required to play it are completely differant.

Secondly, this game doesn't give you the story on a plate. Many Games are in the habbit of giving you all the story on an easy to follow part one leads to part two system and though you can go from story mission to story mission this only gives you the bere bones of the story (A little like Destiny except with no web page), by collecting items and doing side missions you get all the back story which make the story more interesting.

Thirdly this is an RPG, meaning higher lv enemies will take more damage. This shocked a lot of people when playing The division as it can make the game unrealistic but understand RPG's with one shot head kills don't work.

The last thing to think about before deciding if this game is for you or not, is its an MMO and like many MMO's you do get people who just want to be a jerk to everyone else, fortunately for myself i've only come across this one or twice and both times i just logged out and back in and continued to play on a server with no jerks.

Now the game it's self, I think this is one of the best games i've played this year (true it is early). As i've mentioned if we keep in mind the type of game it is and the level of work gone into this its just stunning. The graphics are amazing even after the infamous down grade and the lesser mentioned lighting upgrade. The sound is solid and the game play though diffrent is ace. This is a game that has changes the normal practices of how we play, for example, the difficulty levels in missions aren't geared towards leveling you up faster but more towards returning at later game to receive better loot.

Over all i think its a well balanced game that has been adjusted to avoid the normal pitfalls that MMO's fall into in the late game areas.

I give the game a 9 because i do feel its had a few server issues and at this stage i can't give a 10 un-till that's fixed. Hope this helped.
    Peace out.

I haven't delved into the multi player yet as I'm more of a single player gamer, once I've levelled up more I will give it a try and it appears highly accessible with multiple match making points. It does need it's fixes. Like, maybe rather than fixing the loot drop rates they can focus on the glitches. Tired of trying to check out my accessories and cannot because my player is just a black silhouette. Tired of falling threw the maps. Tired of getting caught on invisible walls. Tired of not being in combat and not being able to access a safe zone. Tired of NPCs spawning on you.

All in all, worth the 60 bucks for sure.

Just OK shooter. Much better story than Destiny. Repetitive, same enemies over and over. Ai seems to be inconsistent, some enemies act smart getting the drop on you while others are completely stupid. Graphics are really beautiful. It's a decent shooter but their is not much new here.

Each encounter felt the same after the first few There is no stealth element to the game, just bad cover shooting; nothing else.

Shoot shoot walk, shoot shoot walk, oh look, I died; but this games so bad I just don't care. The AI is stupid, the graphics have taken a massive downgrade from the game footage we've seen over the last 2 years, and the variety in character clothing/attire is generic as everyone seems to be dressed the same.

Ubisoft have failed to deliver on everything they promised with this game. The Division is a repetitive, clunky, boring, cover based MMO shooter if you play with friends; and a really bad cover based shooter with a terrible story, a drab world and monotonous, repetitive, tedious missions if you play solo.

This game is all sizzle no steak, save your money and yourself from this uninteresting, unengaging, tiresome slog of a game. Buy something else, or buy nothing; just don't buy this lest you find out how vast 'the division' between fun and this game truly is.

I see from the majority of the review that they are written after only a few hours of gameplay, and division is great for the first few hours.. until you start noticing the glaring flaws. Repetitive combat against a lack of unique enemies. Higher levels shows difficulty not through strategy but by presenting bullet sponge mobs. Body collision is a huge issue throughout with a ridiculous cover system that results in the player sitting bored behind a wall playing whack-a-mole with the enemies, hitting whatever steps up from cover. Furthermore mobs hit with a shotgun or a sniper rifle continue to charge, unimpeded by damage they take, not flattering in the slightest. The same forgiveness is not given to players, who when hit with a sniper, shotgun or melee attack are either reduced to 0-10% HP, or staggered unable to recover.

Dark zone is complete **** after grinding for hours to reach lvl 30 to loot chests, a player would expect some sort of reward however the items from the shop are basic and no upgrade, and the chests that were previously locked behind a lvl wall drop low quality items. Accidentally/purposely shooting a fellow player results in a manhunt which are fun, however the risk/reward is not worth it. Surviving a manhunt will see you rewarded with about 2k dark zone credits, a loss will results in a loss of lvl, dark zone keys and about 100k dark zone credits.

The game is flawed, unpolished. Boring and repetitive with cheap and uncreative difficulty walls presented in bullet sponge enemies, or one shot mechanics from terminator style mobs who run through hell and a blaze of bullets to walk into your face and shoot you. This game is garbage, do not bother

The Division bring Massive-Multiplayer Online shooter, to an insane Open-World scale's of NYC (mostly Manhattan). What really makes The Division stays great, is the extreme tone of it's shooting and cover system gameplay. About 12/13 hours in, game has become rather repetitive, PvE driven content is dull, PvP content can either be tough and fast paced or just repeatedly get stomped on. The story tries to deliver a realistic modern apocalypse however the bullet sponge enemies really ruin the atmosphere. Not exactly worth retail value, I personally regret my purchase at launch.

A review of Tom Clancy's: The Division on PS4

The majority of the game takes place in New York City's Borough of Manhattan “In the midst of a smallpox like pandemic that the public dubs the “Green Poison”. The Virus has left the cities first response service organizations in ruin. The Government of the United States has no other Choice but to activate sleeper agents within the city know as THE DIVISION to assist with what is left of the emergency response teams know collectively as the Joint Task Force or JTF to help rebuild and maintain order within the now quarantined districts of Manhattan. Your mission as a division agent is to take back the city at all cost. Not only do the members of The Division and JTF have to fight the spreading Epidemic but several gangs have risen from the ashes of what is left. Rioters… Rikers … and Cleaners are all fighting for Rule and Power over the new free territory.

    Sights and Sound

The Voice acting and music come second to the sounds of combat and constant firefights in the distance. The sounds of explosions and bullet hail are the real sound track to this game. With a full armory of weaponry ranging from booming close quarter shotguns to long range sniper rifles that rip the air all have their own unique sounds. Many of the weapons can be modified with muzzle attachments to give a weapon a new voice but still one of its own. Any music that can be heard after completing a hard fought mission was for me drowned out by the escaping sounds of war leaving my ears and in its place a strange calm that quickly becomes forgotten and feels foreign upon the fire of the first shots of engagement.
Visually the City's architecture remains intact for the most part but the streets are littered with vehicles and check points torn apart and left abandoned, wandering vagrants which once made up the working class along with an equal number of animals scavenging and fighting their own battles to stay alive now populate the streets. The city can be navigated using a convenient and easy to read in game map and way point system. A nice feature to see was that every street still had its own name and on the corner its respective street sign. A really nice touch for those who notice small details. In the same respect for detail The environment of the Division is constantly changing with its regular day and night cycles but having token place approaching Christmas time harsh you will notice winter weather conditions. In a moments noticed clear sky’s can become overcast and cloudy then change to a light flurry and even pick up to blizzard storm conditions impairing visibility and making the navigation process a little bit harder.

Game play Elements – Shooter/ RPG / MMO

The Division is a mash up of different Genres. Third person Shooter, Single player RPG, and MMO style RPG. The game try’s to take the best aspects of each while leaving the bad behind to create its own unique game play style. In terms of being a shooter. It does well establishing a proficient cover to cover system as well as manual cover and maneuver while aiming over the shoulder. Although Manually staying in cover becomes tricky as there is no crouch or prone positions, the cover to cover system becomes more efficient in most cases to use. A nice feature for me, being a fan of third person aspect games, was the ability to aim over Either shoulder, moving the camera to my other shoulder when I wanted to peer around a corner or doorway opposite the default. Surprisingly many third person games forget to add that option. The gun play is excellent and hit boxes respond well. Every gun has its own recoil pattern and rise that can be master and duplicated through keen observation and slight movements of the toggle stick to keep the majority of shots on target.
As an Rpg the division does well keeping the progression of the leveling system rewarding and exciting enough to grind the repetitive side missions that in my opinion are short, easy, and quick enough to complete that the repetitive aspect can be over looked. Many of the side missions also reward players credits to put towards their perks, talents, and abilities so “grinding them out” or completing everything in the area should be more enjoyable and challenging then returning to a low level area with a high level character. As I mentioned the perk, talent and ability trees coincide with a credit system where the credits are rewarded for completing side missions and main story missions that also result in you restoring order to the city, rebuilding the infrastructure and returning control the united states government. Along with the different skill trees a great deal of focus was spent on the progressive loot system. Upon reaching higher levels the players character will have the opportunity to equip stronger weapons and armor that he or she finds through out the game either via loot drop, safe house vendors, or even a crafting system. The crafting system is simple as materials are found readily available scattered though the game or weapons and gear can be deconstructed instead of sold to create base materials that can then be crafted into equipment better suited to your level and play style. Along with finding better equipment a player will also find different articles of clothing that can be equipped to change the aesthetic look of the player which is a nice feature if you like to be especially different, stand out, or even create something of a uniform you and your friends wear to tell each other apart in the Dark Zone.

    MMO and the Dark Zone

The massive multilayer online genre really only comes into play upon entering the Dark Zone. The Dark Zone is a quarantined area within the quarantined city… Unlike the rest of the cities districts that are pve and only populated by you and your invited squad members as well as NPCs, The dark zone is the area where every player roams freely amongst enemies of super and elite status with higher armor and damage ratings. The dark zone is a free for all to any player that decides to enter, within these walls any player can engaged another player in combat. All loot that is gathered here most go through a decontamination process as there are higher levels of the virus here, before your able to equip it. When you want to extract gear you have to go to an extraction zone where a helicopter will come grab your new loot, decontaminate, and place it into your stash box. This is where the dark zone gets tricky because players will try to kill for your dark zone loot as your player will drop it upon being killed and any other player can pick it up. In my personal experience a lot of players will try and kill you right as your placing your dark zone loot bag onto the helicopter rig as your are defenseless for about 5 seconds during this action. The dark zone also has its own leveling system and while inside you will only earn dark zone exp and dark zone credits which reward players with the option to buy from dark zone vendors as well as open dark zone loot crates.

    My opinion of the game.

If your interested and wondering whether its actually worth 60$. Go get this game, IT IS. I've had so much fun playing this game and feel like its worth every penny as a gamer. The match making system is really easy to use. I have had no issues with joining my friends for PVE or PVP. And video games are always so much better with online interaction because situations will never play out the exact same way between online play. I’ve only run into one bug where I couldn’t enter A door to a stairway leading to another door but I could scale the side of the building so the stairwell wasn't even needed. There are a lot of great features that have been implemented to making this game stand out from other shooters rpgs and mmos that give it its own very unique feel. As far of replay ability in the traditional sense I don’t see a need to remake another character outside of changing sex or race as all the skills trees are completly unlock-able in one play through. But I feel as long as they create content monthly which is what I’ve been told would happen. When its comes to the life span of this game its really up to the dlc dev teams, because with new content comes new adventures...

As I was going through the reviews, I saw someone saying that the game is shallow. This game is FAR from shallow. The environments and the gameplay is top of the line. No longer is it possible to be massively overpowered where I could pummel all my enemies because of brute strength and dumb A.I. Hard mode missions in this game is actually VERY HARD. It plays so beautifully that I don't mind retrying to kill a boss for hours on end as long as it goes down! As bosses gets harder, I get better strategically and actually feel accomplished after a mission. I love the skirmishes where two npc's from two different factions attack each other. I can literally go for cover and watch the whole fight play out and grab me some popcorn. I can snipe both factions slowly as they fight each other. I could even just walk away and let them handle their own business. This is an amazing game. Get it and I promise you wont regret it. Expand

I would say it's one of the best examples of scam. The marketing team of this game did a great job. They showed 10 but the end product has only 2~3. It had such great potential but Ubisoft

I just cannot believe it took more than about 4 years to make the game.
It's either the devs ran out of budget/time or the director/person in charge does not have passion.

Rest in peace Tom Clancy. Ubisoft did a **** job even for your posthumous work...

Honestly, I was a fanboy for this game.. for just about an entire 3 year period. I work in the video game industry, and thought I had hoestly seen and played it all until I saw this game announced at E3. Then 3 years later.. it released, and it STILL blew me away. 10 out of 10, all the way.

And for the kids who aren't even end game.. determined to give this game a bad name before

I don't know what to say but this game is boring, the missions and the city lacks variety. 'Go here, kill that' - rinse and repeat. They took their time making a good looking game, i dont mind the mechanics either but this game is such a bore, it is so disappointing. This game proves graphics is not everything.

I like how people are saying there's tons of missions, but do they not

I like how people are saying there's tons of missions, but do they not realize they are doing the exact same thing everytime? Are they not feeling a little bit annoyed?

I do like the loot and guns, its the only reason why i may come back to try and obtain the purple gear, other than that i highly doubt i will play anymore, even the PvP in the Dark Zone is very forgettable and pointless? (only for end-game gear). They can keep expanding the map, but the content wont be there.

Two words that sums up this game
    LACKS VARIETY

This is like destiny but set in new york without weird and funky enemies.
It is fun to play alone, it is more fun to play it using matchmaking. It is epic to play with friends.

Great game , if you like destiny and uncharted mix ,lack some endgame , there is not too much to do after you hit level cap, just grind for loot, but will probably be solved with the next update

I must admit I desperately wanted this game to be terrible. When I saw the graphical downgrades and what seemed to be at the time, highly over-exaggerated trailers I thought to myself: here we go again. Just another Watchdogs scenario. Misleading marketing for a below average game. I digress, Tom Clancy's The Division is actually really good. When I saw the graphical downgrades and what seemed to be at the time, highly over-exaggerated trailers I thought to myself: here we go again. Just another Watchdogs scenario. Misleading marketing for a below average game. I digress, Tom Clancy's The Division is actually really good. Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, you are a sleeper agent working for a government agency called The Division. I don't want to go to far into it for fear of spoiling it for you, but I truly feel this is a must play. Don't let the destiny comparison scare you. I totally get why Destiny has such an enormous following, but it just wasn't really what I was looking for in a game. Hell, I'm not completely sure The Division is! Needless to say I cant put it down. The city looks beautiful, the gun play is satisfying as well as the loot system. When I saw the map outline in a Gamespot video I thought it looked tiny but it is enormous. I would say maybe a third of The Witcher 3 (If you have played The Witcher then you know one third of the entire Witcher map is still massive) I know I know, just because the map is big doesn't mean the game is great, but it has depth and an all around abundance to it. There is plenty to do for at least a good month or two depending on the time you have, and that is just missions. The Dark Zone is another story. The Dark Zone is pretty much The Division's pvp mode where you mostly kill NPCs. Haha i know but surely you have heard enough about the DZ to know about what goes on. If you are wondering if you can go in alone then yes, you can. Although it's not quite as fun as going in with a couple friends whom even though you have known for years you still don't completely trust, i have gone in alone plenty of times. You make yourself an easier target but it can be done. Most players are smart enough to know it's easier on them and everyone else if they just play nice. :-) Give it a try. I know it's Ubisoft but I cant deny that the game is a lot if fun, and at times extremely intense, and in my opinion truly shines during those 20 to 30 minute fire fights. Expand

It won't win converts to the genre and the plot is problematic, but The Division is a handsome open-world offering, spiked with treachery. [May 2016, p.81]

That's the essential nature, and essential problem, of The Division's underlying structure. It's asking you to hunt gear with no tangible reward in terms of what you can do, how you do it, or what you look like doing it. [May 2016, p.108]

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
