Tom Clancy's The Division was a game with a lot of expectations, but achieved little. The story had a lot of potential, however, it is very badly told, and became disappointing. Overall, The Division is a normal game, is not innovative, is not a remarkable game and neither is a game of the year, the multiplayer is what saves this game, The Division is a disappointment, to which may be the disappointment of the year, Ubisoft did not yield what it promised. 6/10 Expand

Everyone is comparing this game to Destiny but should really be comparing it to Diablo 3. It's basically Diablo 3 with guns and minus any semblance of creativity or imagination. Maybe that's your thing? If not, too bad because you won't find any here. If you are new to duck and cover shooters, you are going to have a bad time since the tutorial is severely lacking. This game is very stat oriented, to the point that if you don't have blue+ gear, you are going to have a bad time. In fact, you are probably going to be forced to group to finished every mission and every mission is the same.

The game gives the illusion of choice with stacking stats and three different ability trees but there is only one stat that matters, firearms (dps) and one ability (healing) that matters. Everything else is pure garbage compared to these.

Right now there is no end game, except doing daily missions of the same again and again. The Dark Zone is a joke too. It's the same as everywhere else in the game except the enemies are even tankier, and other players can shoot at you. At low levels pvp like this is fun but at high levels the penalties for going 'rogue' take the fun out of it for very long. There are not pure pvp arenas either.

I gave this game a 1 because it managed to run on my PS4 without crashing, which is me being generous. Don't waste your money on this game.

It got a way better looting system, farm, wider range of weapon of choice. They alimented the PvP element, but did a good fine job with cooperate

The only good thing is it is very popularized game at the moment

    Pro:
Very populated game for at least 2-3 months

Good Coop system (but not the actual play, Army of Two by EA is a way better 3rd Person shooter.)

a must for Any mmorpg players (Destiny, Diablo)

    Cons:
Only few missions, you could finish all of it on 1st night.

fooling graphic (we know the E3 demo)

    Too repetitive.

Little Variety of Enemies So Far

Worst PvP system I've ever seen (You will never get a fair fight in DZ)

The dark zone is ridiculously fun, it's pvp or pve, the choice is yours. But I would not recommend going rogue, because the reward for the risk you're taking is abysmall. - AI usually not very smart, to the point where it is silly.
    - Rogue system doesn't seem very thought-out.

    - Apparently, quite a lot of stuff was cut or reduced. They said the character creating would be VERY expansive and deep. It isn't, it was rather disappointing and feels phoned in. There are tons of cosmetic items to loot, but I'd have prefered a better creator

Just the sheer size of the map is incredible and even though the action is pretty straight forward, exploration is encouraged and rewarded. graphics are good to excellent and the voice acting is good, even makes you laugh every now and then. stop with the dumb comments about bullet sponges too - of course, the developers did that intentionally to make the class have some actual relevance... the different roles (tech, med, security) all come in to play during big battles. How can gamers can possibly give this game a low ratings when it has all the elements we've been asking for? Is there room for improvement, of course. The missions can get redundant and there is definitely a "grinding" feel to it after awhile (I'm only a 22 so I haven't seen the end game but I get it when people use that criticism). To be fair the game is probably a solid 8.5 or 9 but these low reviews are just dumb and so I'm going 10 here. Expand

It also didn't sit well with me that there is clearly additional content that they didn't release with the game that is coming about a month after the original release, but the more I play, the more I understand why they're timing the free release of some DLC.

I am at least a solid 100 hours into the game and see no reason why I will be stopping any time soon. At its core, the actual gameplay is fun, and the heaviness/feel of the character is good. Both the PVE and PVP systems are engaging. I've even hit a point where a little material grinding is necessary to continue my progression but I don't mind it because it is in an ever-changing dark zone where I have to continually be alert. The developers seem to be very tuned in to the community and the first major patch about two weeks after release fixed some serious issues with the dark zone which was a godsend and the right thing to do -- which also gives me hope that these devs are willing to admit where they made mistakes and continue molding the game to be the most fun experience. You can't upgrade your character -too- quickly, and stat min/max'ing will keep the hardcore players busy for hundreds of hours.

Is the game perfect? No. Is the game a 10/10? Yes.

It can get better ofc but it feels interesting and i find my self coming back for it. The extracted space in the base stash could be bigger though but i think it will be patched sooner or later.

Leveling in The Division is very enjoyable. Apocalyptic New York City has been lovingly crafted in fine detail and really sets the stage for the story. The story itself is simply OK - it's not the greatest but it's not bad either. The gunplay is well doneand the six weapon types all feel distinct and meaningful. There is a lot of fun to be had running around in a small group, switching roles based on talents. Even the Dark Zone (more on this in a moment) is a blast while leveling, as it's separated into level brackets to keep things even and (more or less) fair.

There are problems that hold back the basic leveling side of the game. The side-missions and resource encounter missions are extremely repetitive and you will be doing the exact same things in each zone. Elite and veteran NPC mobs and bosses are bullet sponges. The game is riddled with texture bugs including falling through the world, guns that sometimes randomly float above or beside teammates, grenades that don't display an animation or make a sound, occasional invisible items that can lock you in place, and enemies that don't fully appear on screen until you're directly on top of them. Friendly AI is dumb as a box of rocks and never shuts up. Of course, the game ALSO suffers the Ubisoft Syndrome, which is to say the map is littered with hundreds of collectibles.

    On end-game: Score - 2
Once you reach 30 and have gotten full superior-level gear (an easy feat to achieve), the wheels fall off the bus.

If you want to progress in any meaningful fashion after max level, you need Phoenix Credits, Dark Zone credits and High-End crafting materials, including high-end Division Tech materials. The means to obtain these items are extremely limited and, as such, "end-game" is extremely barebones.

The Dark Zone (DZ) is a set of PvEvP hybrid zones where players can kill enemy AI or engage in rogue PVP and kill other players. The first six zones are separated by DZ rank (from ranks 1 to 30) and the final two zones are for "high end" DZ rank (ranks 31-50+). It's an interesting concept in theory but in practice it's horrible.

The loot the NPC mobs drop in the DZ simply is not all that rewarding until you get to the final two tiers. This means grinding 30 DZ levels just to get into the higher two tiers where you might have a better-than-zero chance of finding high-end gear. Likewise, the best crafted items from the DZ are gated behind DZ rank 50 blueprints. The DZ is just a zone to grind in, meandering around killing for DZ rank until you reach 50 when you can finally buy decent 'rewards'. The problem with this is that your progress can be completely stopped by rogue PVP agents because, when you are killed for ANY reason in the DZ, you *lose* experience, credits, and chest keys. You also lose any loot you've picked up but not yet extracted out of the DZ. I would be fine with this risk/reward scenario if the devs hadn't made recent changes to the game that reduces the penalty for going rogue, essentially promoting griefers and gankers. If you weren't DZ rank 50 before the most recent patch, good luck getting there.

This isn't the only change they've made that makes DZ a pointless slog. They've nerfed the frequency of NPC bosses in the DZ and severely nerfed the amount of Phoenix Credits you can obtain from bosses. After this latest patch, although not listed in the notes, it has become rare to find high-end level division tech crafting materials, which are needed for ALL of the DZ blueprints.

Put simply, the DZ is another a grindfest with extremely nerfed drop rates, except this grind also includes players who are given the green light to be jerks, making ranking up more annoying if not outright impossible.

That leaves the end-game PVE dailies. With only four total challenge modes and two daily hard modes earning enough to buy weapons and blueprints from the vendors at the Base of Operations is atrocious. Bear in mind that challenge modes require a competent team with decent gear and can take anywhere from 30 mins. to 3+ hours depending on the mission. Unless you have the time and friends required to spend all day grinding challenge modes, progress will be painfully slow.

After obtaining a few high-end items, I've already become tired of the grind. It is, IMO, arguably worse than vanilla Destiny at launch (and I'm certainly no Destiny fanboy, check out my scathing reviews for Destiny here). At least vanilla Destiny offered many more scaled up end game strikes, a split between PVE and PVP gear paths, dedicated PVP, an initial raid with raid gear, and public events. Back in 2014, I compared that to other pseudo-MMOs and called Destiny's offerings barebones. Sadly, The Division has set a new bar for barebones end-game. Given how enjoyable the 1-30 leveling path was, I'm deeply disappointed in the state of The Division's end game.

    All things considered: 6.0

How weather conditions have a REAL impact on the gameplay. How an enemy getting hit in the nose with the butt of your gun reacts. These are the things that are simply missing from other titles like Destiny.

There is a certain element of grinding after hitting level 30. Dark Zone is the most innovative PVP arena to date, but in order to excel, you really, truly, have to grind. RNG and frankly, non-intuitive weapon perks make this process frustrating at times, where a high end weapon can be either "just ok" or "absolute beast" depending on the roll of dice.

On the other hand, that's what makes you go back to killing bosses time and time again.

If these reviews would include the community, I would have to deduct a point. There are some real **** playing this game: particularly, kicking people from the party in Challenging missions right after killing the boss. If these COD-kids would leave the grieving to the Dark Zone, this game would be top-notch enjoyment.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that they're beautiful, the guns all feel the same.
The gunfights are still very satisfying though.

Let's talk about the multiplayer section, The Darkzone. Again, it's a good concept but after a few fun hours you understand there's nothing to do in it.
But, do no forget that you can play the whole game in coop.

So to resume, the game has potential, but needs more content to become a real must-have.

Starting with positives, gun customization and mods give looting a huge dimension to expand upon. The third person shooting is completely solid, and the cover system will feel very familiar to any Gears of War veterans. Perks and talents can be adapted to suit any style of play, rather than a black or white, pick this or pick this, kind of class system which is excellent. Not to mention, the world is absolutely gorgeous and, whether you love the game or not, you will spend hours invested in this broken New York City.

Now for the negatives. Though the world is brilliant, the "story" involved in the game is fairly laughable. It might seem interesting at first, but if you can tell me one characters name by the end then I will be impressed. PvP is unbelievably punishing, and it makes me wonder why it wasn't just included in the regular game, as it would justify the 'always online' requirements as well as leave the Dark Zone open for ACTUAL PvP. Bosses are bullet sponges with absolutely no variety, and a thoroughly underwhelming final boss. Lastly, character customization is hilariously shallow, considering the effort put into the gun customization.

I was going to give this game an 8/10, but the end game content as well as the disappointing Dark Zone pulled the score down to a low 7, lucky not to be a 6.

The endgame is really lacking and the only reliable way to get gear right now is crafting, which makes replaying missions useless. At the moment i can't say that i am looking forward to anything the game has to offer. I will probably be back for incursions, but i will do them once or twice and i will be done. Unless they have some interesting mechanics, which are otherwise lacking in the campaign and dark zone.
The dark zone is where the division is at its most worst in my opinion. Unless you want to craft things, there is 0 need for you to extract. I heard that the new patch increased the rogue percentage but it's just not enough for me since most of the time the items i get are too boring to extract, and that's what i usually get with 185 scavenging. I had only one yellow drop that wasn't even an upgrade to the vendor stuff. Not even in terms of armor or any other stat that isn't a talent.
The gameplay is solid but it is severly lacking. There's no variety to anything, since the actives are just that, only actives, and don't require much skill to deploy. The guns are somewhat different and they feel different, which is the only nice thing i can say about the gameplay.
If you are expecting interesting missions, well, all i can say is that the game is just horde mode. The last boss has some kind of a mechanic (if you pay attention to the dialogues) but can easily be ignored and shot through without any problem.
What is the most unfortunate thing for me is that i bought the season pass, but i already feel like this is the last game i'm going to play because it is nothing more then a deception and it is so boring it got me bored of gaming in general, and i'm not even salty when i'm saying this.
Although i cannot say that they failed anything, not even the dark zone is really that bad, it is just boring, which is different from complete failure, this game just doesn't seem to be engaging enough for me to keep playing it. The lack of dropped loot and the lack of boss mechanics really kill it for me.

But if you're a single player like me, you're going to be very bored. I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place if I knew the single player experience was so hollow. The reviews I read said that the main story was still fun if you were playing it by yourself. It's just not true. This game is meant to be played with friends.

I think it's false advertising to say this game has "RPG elements." Sure, you level up and can use better gear throughout the game, but that's not all it takes to be an RPG. An RPG needs to have dynamic characters, and those just don't exist in this game.

I don't understand it. You have all these game studios fighting over a few storyboard writers. It's like, "Did you hear that Mass Effect lost so-and-so to Bungie. That means Destiny 2 is going to be so good and the new Mass Effect is going to be terrible." But shouldn't there be like a whole bunch of good storyboard writers out there? How hard is it to write a good story for a video game?

    Hard enough, I guess.

Playing with friends is really where it's at. You can play solo but man, getting a team together and using each others characters strengths is what makes it rewarding. The Dark Zone is the best part of the game. A mixture of PvE and PvP make this a challenging and quite satisfying by getting a decent chance at scoring greater gear and weapons. Some downsides are that most of the side missions and side quests are very similar and repetitive. Your character does not actually say one word the entire game..which was quite disappointing for people who love to invest into characters. Another downside is there is no trading system. It would have been nice to be able to help friends if they are needing that extra piece of gear to help them get to that next step. All in all, this is Ubisoft's best Shooter period. Expand

The major problem for me was the support of lgbt and liberal belief systems. I didn't want to be around the people I was. The excessive foul language was very uncomfortable and annoying. The game isn't very violent so you can play in front of children, but the problem was the random f bombs coming out of enemies mouths. It could have been like Borderlands but they really ghettoed up the game. The story is really annoying as well with just unlikable shock factor characters that cuss too much and are uninteresting and extremely insecure, opinionated. The biggest mistake was adding foul words so parents can't play this in front of their kids with little violence and no blood. I understand it's a european country and they have problems with understanding American culture, so there's a lot of ideas that I believe came from them. So they cut their audience in half just with that aspect of it. The other issues was the lgbt and basically no straight girls in the game whatsoever. It's a game of lesbians and that's it. It's a world where women don't want to be with men anymore. This is also from watching American TV and assuming that's what Americans want. That cuts the audience in half again. Only games like black ops can pull off the sadistical cool atmosphere and Ubisoft just feels like they are trying too hard to please an audience that barely exists. If the game wasn't trying to preach it's liberal religion on people it could have gotten a 9/10. It's a fun game and has a lot to offer as the second of its kind (CMO). It's a real shame. I wish they would talk to a marketing person for the American culture for 15 minutes and learn some real basics on story telling and keeping the atmosphere and story safe from causing people to be uncomfortable, disappointed, and annoyed. After a night of playing it (only a few hours) i was disappointed in the splitscreen only being what it was, since i thought it was like bots from cod and walker assault, etc. Anyway, i took it back the next day, and even though my nephews weren't too happy, i got the division. Now, i have heard some bad things about it being very repetitive, and being like Destiny, but... i love Destiny! The beginning was a bit slow, but i got 'back into it' and remembered everything from the beta. The graphics are pretty good (1080p vs 900p for battlefront i think) there WERE a few little lags where it might stop or skip, or dialogue cut out, but the gameplay was awesome. I am still a pretty low lvl, and have been busy only to play some of the story, and a little dz, but have enjoyed it. Playing alone can get a little boring, but the matchmaking is great, and the dz is something creative, and reminds me a little of a scaled down Arma or something, and i am glad i took back battlefront. I don't want to smash battlefront, but for 60 bucks, even 40 bucks, you aren't getting much, and i will probably buy it if it either lets you do offline multiplayer, or is like 20 bucks. Also, many people are butthurt about political views in this game, and being right wing, but you need to remember, many other games (hardline) blatantly bash conservatives, and no one said anything about that, so you guys hatin this game because a little politics need to just shut up and enjoy it. So, yes, i would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a fun sorta mmorpg that is also tactical, and fun solo, and even better in a group. also, i don't even care for 3rd person, but this game is an exception! From the integrated seamless advertising that is found in the city to the way footprints are left on snow topped cars when u climb them. Right now thats out of the way, on to its issues which include gameplay, story, and multiplayer!

    Gameplay:

One of the most important factors of any game. The Division scores low here. First off, all what the game play involves here is hiding behind cover, advancing, and shooting a crap load of bullet sponge enemies which only seem to need more bullets to die when you level up. Yes get better weapons they say. This requires even more grinding of said bullet sponges, for weapons which look exactly the same as to the ones from when you are level 1. Only difference is there stats are better. Thats all good, but to keep me playing I wish there was more variety when it came to the weapons. It needs more than just some better damage numbers to make me play for the long term. Those better damage stats dont even seem to make much difference as you encounter more absorbant bullet sponges as you progress. The customisation and mods for weapons and armour has been executed nicely. But the crafting system just feels so below par when compared to alot of other games in the market, .i.e. Fallout 4s crafting anyone? As for the skills, I wish there were more of those then talents and perks which only give stat bonuses which are hard to notice. Example, one perk gives reduced incoming damage when you dash from cover to cover. I love the skills, like throwing a turret, or a rolley ball grenade because it adds so much in the way of tactics and dynamism to the game. Unfortunately there are only a few to choose from. As for armour and gear, yea there are subtle differences, but it all looks pretty much the same. Character customization is another flawed feature to this game. Only a few faces to choose from, and minor customization allowed to the way they look when. Other similar games have a ton in the way of customization from body size to the way a nose looks.

As for the interface, when you first bring up options so much is thrown in your face its daunting. So many stats options may seem like a good idea, but the execution is poor here.

Controls are OK, but awkward when in cover and getting flanked. As for cycling between the different grenades and special items (explosive bullets and canned food?) its a real challenge. Bringing up what you need fast is more difficult than it needs to be. Yes im an average player, but being a good player doesnt mean neccesarily mean your good because you can pull out a snack bar from your inventory fast enough to stop burning ( snack bars remove status effects like fire.....go figure).

Another thing, the whole world feels empty. Nothing interesting happening other than finding some clues around town or crashed drones. You just walk across the city taking on one similar mob, only to pop around the corner to find another similar mob. Where is the immersion? There is a virus on the loose?

Back to the bullet sponge enemies. There are three groups, rikers, cleaners and another group (thats how memorable it was). But they are all pretty much the same. They fight the same way, react the same, have same classes which arent that much different. Its all just the same. Even the bosses are basically the same. No real unique abilities just bullet sponges. If your going to play ths game at least do so with friends, to lighten the mood. People compared this game alot with destiny. They are both very different games, but I can see where some people may feel tempted to compare it. Thing is though, where destiny failed with story, it succeeded with solid FPS shooting and a decent multiplayer system. Finally, the side missions where fun at first. But all those encounters just became so tedious. How many supplies do I need to secure or missing persons do i need to find in a play through. Enough already! Take the standard set by the witcher 3 and shake up things!!

    Storyline

Not much to say here other than the whole idea of cell agents being activated to restore order where an organized military and government fail to be rather far fetched. The whole atmosphere is someway cliche and cheesy. Always going back to the base of operations and being told what a hero I am feels like too much *** kissing. I mean just take it down a notch. As for the characters in the storyline. I cant remember one of them, and nothing seemed to matter in the end it was underwhelming, unmemorable, and all rather.."meh".

    Multiplayer

First few hours were interesting, but in the end its just the grind for finding better. As for going rogue, the game doesnt want you to go rogue and punishment outweighs the rewards.

Overall, average game which has a good world design, but fails to deliver in fundamental gaming areas.

The game begins with a very basic character creation system, you can choose between a few different head shapes, skin colors, tattoos, scars etc. Nothing really fancy, and "Basic" is the key word here because everything in this game is just like your character's creation: basic. The missions to gain credits to develop your HQ are basically all the same and there are a lot of them: Secure an area (understand: kill 50 mobs), Protect some supplies (understand: kill 50 mobs before they destroy the supply boxes) and Collect some stuffs and bring them back somewhere (understand: kill 50 mobs and spend 5 minutes walking with a heavy suitcase which slows you down drastically).

The main and secondary missions are a bit more inspired, yet nothing to go crazy about. The game is heavily scripted (ie: the enemies behind huge glass doors on the top floor of a building won't move if you haven't cleared the lower floors first...) and the AI is pretty basic not to say stupid.
The mobs are basically all the same with a few skin differences: The gangsta with a weapon (baseball bat or a shield + axe or gun), and the "cleaners" with a weapon (a flame thrower or a gun). The bosses are uninspired too (mostly a normal mob on steroid) and there is little difficulty defeating them.

The weapons customization is pretty cool though, you have 6 mod slots on your weapons to improve them. That's very cool and they really affect your weapons stats. The talent tree is also interesting even if you will most likely use the same talents all the time.

Unlike Destiny, you won't see any players in the PVE part of the game (except your team mates of course), and you will only see other players in some secure areas such as your HQ.
The PVP zone (the Darkzone) is fun (except when being chain killed by a group of 4 rogue agents) and stressful. You never know if that guy who helped you for an hour will betray you when it will be time to extract your loots.

Verdict: 6/10, that's not a bad game, but it's far from what I was expecting after watching the trailers.

It isn't a perfect game but I see myself continuing with it and look forward to seeing what download content will be available. Some have also made reference to destiny while comparing this game. It's not the same at all. I did not like destiny and it made me not want to ever pre order a game without seeing some kind of reviews first.

This is a solid 8.5 for me. Grab a friend or two, or make some new ones on line and experience the DZ. You'll be glad you did.

However...when playing more and more of the game I was just more and more disappointed.
There is this infection going on...that is the main cause of all bad things, that is, total anarchy sweeps through NY. You are there as part of a secret agency to correct that..that is the chaos that will overtakenthe city. Basically this means you shoot down gangs. Endlessly. There are some paperthin story aspects to it, but this is what you will be doing. Sounds boring? Well it doesn't have to be but it is. There is very little story bound to who you are wiping down. Or to the other agents. There is some, but it didn't interest me one bit.
To sum it up...the story didn't get me. At all.

Then there is this dreaded bullet sponginess. It should be excused because its the RPG element, but for me it just didn't work. Having more realism would have. Shooting people in the head over and over again without effect because they are more "leveled" just feels off. In another more fantasy lik setting it wouldn't.

The division feels very bland. Streets look the same, they look great, but its more of the same, and more.., enemy's do, hell even the bosses are just very much the same and can absorb an insane amount of bullets.

There is the darkzone where you get killed instantly ifnyou come alone and even with a group, its not as fun as "regular" multiplay games.

What's left is the looting. Thats sorta fun. But a shallow aspect for an entire game.

No the division is not for me.

This game is great. It has problems, very many in fact, but it's worth the cost. Let's start out with the positives.

The gun modification system is well done and easy to understand. In most modern games, an easy modification system is a rare sight, which means all the more credit to Ubisoft.
Navigating the map can be really fun, surprisingly. There's tons of stuff to do, such as complete encounters, do side missions, loot, etc.
I swear to God, I spend about 30 minutes each session trying to make my character look freaking fabulous. And I have succeeded.
There's actual challenge to the game, meaning enemies aren't made of cotton candy and objectives are fairly tough. Each level will easily take up at least 30 minutes, sometimes up to an hour.
All the technical stuff (Graphics, controls, less glitches, etc.) is superb.
I, personally, think the story is pretty worth it. It'll keep you fairly interested for the most part.

The game has problems though, so it is nowhere near perfect.
You'll see the same enemies over and over again as you make a painstaking attempt to slaughter a million clones charging at you.
If you're a level 10, have a group of levels 9-11 and then a level 30 or so comes on, you're screwed. The level unbalance can be crazy and outright unfair at times.
The game's so called "bosses" are no more than bullet sponge versions of normal enemies.
This is more of a complaint for Beta players: I remember at level 6 or 7 I was gathering loot in the DZ during the Beta and kicking ass with my sweet new gear. Now, the first time I was able to extract without getting brutally massacred by two bullets from the weakest enemies was at level 10 or 11. FML.
If you buy the Gold Edition, the sawed off shotgun you get will only last up to about level 12 or 13, 15 if you're lucky (WHATEVER YOU DO, THOUGH, DON'T GET RID OF IT. EVER. IT WILL SAVE YOUR SORRY ASS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT). The outfits for GD are sweet, though.

With all of its problems, all of the good stuff is where The Division really shines. If you're hesitant, than read more into the game. If you're interested and are mostly on the side of getting it, you're probably going to love it.

Speaking of team, this is a MMOish type of game so the idea of working as a team such as playing the best possible roles for the team, doing call outs and overall concentrating on the single goal of completing the mission is very fun and important to mention because to be honest, this game is meant to be played with your buddies. However, single player is fine but you would be having a way better experience playing with friends as you can explore the DZ without the anxiety of going solo. Overall, this game is a must buy for anyone looking to play with friends, but in a more in-depth way such as the reasons I stated above. Although this is a personal gripe I felt that the controls were a little clunky from the begginning, however one gets use to it after playing for the game for a while. 9/10 for me. Expand

I must admit I'm baffled by all the positive reviews this game is getting, although maybe it's because I'm playing solo and have no interest in joining up with randoms. The game is repetitive and boring, with limited variety in enemies and gameplay. After loving Fallout 4, Metal Gear V and other games over the last few months, I found the Division very average in comparison.

The cover system is intuitive and robust at the same time. The crafting is not as deep as say Fallout 4, but it is there and that is pretty cool. The multiplayer is fun and challenging and fresh, nothing like what I have ever played before. The reward system, although still using it a little, is not overly dependent on RNG like some other games I have been playing...

My only complaint has to do with the way that mission difficulty gets bumped up to match the rank of the highest person in a squad. If I am a lvl 12 doing a lvl 12 mission and my lvl 20 friends drop in, I am now about to get destroyed and one shot for the next hour while they get to play my mission. I think I understand why they did it, to keep people from power leveling their friends too quickly. However, it seems like there should have been some sort of middle ground like bump up the difficulty by three levels above what it was rated at. IDK something to make it still playable for the host who just happened to be part of an active clan.

Overall, this has to be one of the more ambitious titles out there right now. My only concern is Ubisoft supporting the game and making it a long standing franchise. I am hoping they will but a global pandemic in the real world does not have quite the creative freedom as say Assassins Creed (thousands of years of history to work with) or Destiny (entirely a work of fiction). I'm hoping this franchise does well and keeps going for years. It's off to a great start.

This game is not a Destiny killer. This game is not a Destiny replacement. Comparisons to Destiny are pointless. You can spend all day wind bagging, but apples are apples and oranges are oranges.

This game is also terribly misunderstood. This game is not a MMORPG. It is an RPG and there are MMO aspects, but this game is really a VERY strong story driven single player game with co-op aspects. If you think of the Dark Zone more like Uncharted's multiplayer (a feature not the game/story) then you will enjoy this game immensely.

This game is first and foremost a Tom Clancy game. What that means is there is a lot of story! There is the Agent Origin's video on Amazon (almost 30 minutes long). There is the companion book (part of it is in game, but the book drives home the atmosphere and feeling). There is also all the echos, phone messages, incident reports, crashed drones, etc. in game. Some may see that as a collectible grind, but unlike other Ubi IP these collectibles enhance and tell more of the story.

It is utterly mind boggling that people are already at the end game and complaining and they have no idea what most of the story is. People 5x more powerful than I currently am have no idea what is going on. They are just running around and shooting. To each his own I guess.

Now that the groundwork is out of the way onto the technical review.

10/10 graphics - The game is pretty. Slightly reminiscent of Watch Dogs, but very pretty. It may not be pushing the envelope, but the level of detail and weather is great.
8/10 Control - Since this is a cover driven game the controls can be a bit dicey. You character can get stuck on stuff and evasive maneuvers can be a little rough. More than once I meant to roll out of cover to dodge a grenade and I ended up stuck to cover or rolling closer to the grenade. Nothing that can be patch fixed though.
9/10 story - A damn fine story. Not quite Witcher level, but it has tons of meat.
8/10 audio - The soundtrack is nice and it isn't playing all the time. Mostly just gunshots.

My biggest complaint with this game is that though it is an RPG the whole loot mechanism is a bit off. At times I think it would be easier to just scrap the loot and just spend even more focus on the story rather than getting a epic gun.

Lastly, the quests can be a bit repetitive even if the characters are different. A bit more voice over on the encounters instead of recycling the same sound track as well as more variety on the side missions. Each area has four side missions and they are basically supply/mercy drop, hunt down a baddie, etc. A little more thought would have been nice.

I cannot wait for incursions and to see what else the season pass will bring. Certianly worth the money IMHO. My only other request is that it has an end or at least this chapter closes. MMOs are not so great and the story starts to flop.

Roughly having around 100+ hours into this game I can simply say that I can't put the controller down. I have had my fair share from grinding my levels, to the pure satisfaction of the end game this game has. I've loved every second of it and still just think about how there are three expansions still to come to this game. In the beginning of the game you will find yourself sent out to the streets of New York to rain justice, you will be playing from main story missions, to side missions, and doing many encounters which will help you upgrade your base. From the missions and encounters I honestly have seen so much more of a RPG aspect to this game which I really didn't expect. I actually catch myself getting pulled into the story, with many different feelings and just wanting to deliver one thing... Justice. The combat I find very appealing, I love the challenge. While playing the game you learn a lot more about the combat and how to improve. The gear is ever evolving, doesn't matter beginning or end game, you will always find yourself upgrading your character. Some might say "of course you will its a loot based shooter." and that I agree with, it is a loot based shooter but one that I find did it right. I've been a fan of Destiny for a while now and the same with that, its a loot based shooter but it doesn't give you the initiative to upgrade your character because you will find yourself grinding for hours just to get a engram, that "might" upgrade your character. In The Division this aspect is developed very well and throws tons of loot at you, some not upgrading your stats but others can greatly. Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of grinding to do for end game from farming phoenix credits, or superior and High-End gear. I find the combat promising, from moving to cover to cover to stay safe and not just being able to rush in without a punishment. Only the Division agents who learn to adapt to their environment and the type of play style will be rewarded with some of the best gear when it comes down to challenging mode. I love the challenge, it's not necessarily "easy" but it does have a skill gap to learn before diving into all the game has to offer. One of my favorite parts about the game is undoubtedly the Dark Zone. This is one of the best features of this game, I love the idea of collecting gear and having to extract it while knowing you could be hunted down by a rogue agent the next second. It keeps you on your toes especially with the rewards, from superior, to getting High-End drops. I do think the game has flaws though, but not major ones. They need to add better rewards for going rogue so more people do it instead of one person being rogue and everyone hunting them down. The game also has multiple minor bugs with visual stat problems, from seeing one number change to another (thankfully doesn't affect the actual stats) which can be very frustrating at times but really not that big of a problem. I've seen my friends glitch through the map and get stuck underground but not very often. While looking at a lot of the reviews on this website I do want to say that this game surely doesn't deserve a "0" or anything lower than a 8. These people don't play the game until end game or they just don't know how to specify a game as a considerably good game. While I understand people have their own opinions at least tell us why you think its bad in detail instead of just giving it a beyond low score that isn't realistic. With expansions, loot trading, raids, and much more soon to come I can easily see this game as one of the better titles for this year without a doubt. If you'd like to add me on PSN to join me in the depths of the Dark Zone on the search for High-Ends or farming dailies, feel free, like your division agent. PSN: SoticRaVaGe.

I'm taking my time with the story missions, side missions, collecting Intel and venturing into the dark zone and so far I am having a great time playing this game solo and with a buddy.

The story puts you in realistic setting where a virus outbreak has occurred and you, as a division agent are required to find out what happen and restore order. Besides a gripping story the collectable Intel is massively detailed and gives a great back story leading up to the outbreak and the activities which have occurred during the first 2 weeks of the virus spreading and the collapse of the city.

I've read other reviews giving a 1 or 2 / 10 for graphics due to a graphical downgrade but a review should be based on the game at launch and as the graphics stand they are simple amazing and do not warrant negative reviews.

As a cover base RPG shooter you need to take cover and think tactically for every fight how you are going to take down the enemies, this is not a run 'N' gun game. There are lots of perks, abilities and talents to choose from to make your character play to your game style. Yes there is "bullet sponging" which takes away from the realistic setting but for a RPG its universally known you need to level up and get better equipment to deal with those tougher enemies, this does not take away the enjoyment of the game.

The Division has MMO elements, you can either invite your friends to your group and tackle story missions together or advance into the dark zone, which is a PvP area. The dark zone can provide a player with mixed emotions and a different experience each time you enter. When you enter you don't know if you will be attacked by a rogue player while trying to extract some loot, or being helped to take down a boss. The game offers matchmaking as well if you do not have friends who have the game.

Pros = Graphics, Co-op, gameplay, loot, customization, crafting.
Cons = Some mission repetitiveness, Always-online is required.

Let's just say this, a videogame is supposed to be FUN. And the division, like Destiny is lots of it.
They're both Ok games, they haven't reinvented the RPGs or the videogame world. But they`re great fun games. And I know many reviewers just don't see it like that, they see it like work and forget the true nature of videogames.
That said this games has it flaws. Character customization

That said this games has it flaws. Character customization sucks, not many options when you create your agent, still seems like you're on Beta. Moments when in game you are just walking with no real threat. Not many weapon variety, but firing your weapon is tons of fun.
Dark Zone is intense, and I do mean intense. This is where you do feel the threat. Trying to extract some weapons just to have some NPCs come and kick your arse is hardcore. There's also the threat of not knowing if the other players will betray you or help you.

Storywise I don't care much, I mean it's not that bad, but the fun side of the gameplay just wants to keep shooting and killing every RIker or Cleaner instead of listening to the story.

The game is pretty great for first 20 hours or so until you reach the end game. The endgame content was unsurprisingly lacking, as the beta contents were pretty much all there were. Currently clocked in about 56 hours into the game and I am starting to loath doing same missions and runs every time.

This game is very addictive. Fun missions and I like the cover based system for combat allowing you to sneak around some and plan your attack with flanking and pulling back if needed. To me the combat and environment are a big plus over Destiny. Honestly, I couldn't get into Destiny and didn't much like the barrage of just rushing in with guns blazing and no thought to strategy. This Division, however, has sucked me in and keeps me coming back for more. I like playing all the missions on Hard level in solo mode the first time through to get the lay of the land, restock locations, and enemy patterns, and then going back a few times to team up with others. The enemies are much harder in the co-op raid, but being able to plan your attack with a team is very satisfying. Very happy to own and play this game and would highly recommend to others. Expand

I will say this is an RPG first Shooter second game. If you don't like RPGs or are expecting this to be a CoD game then you will want to rethink buying this game.

There are a number of bugs in this game, but that is to be expected at launch. Ubi/Massive are listening to fan feedback and making regular updates/patches/fixes. As long as this continues I'm sure most if not all the bugs will be addressed and not hold this game back.

The map is ok, but it is only useful while leveling. After that, you never visit any of the zones again.

Tom Clancy's The Division is representative of the future potential of hybrid MMO/single player games. You can play as a loner seeking to complete the 25-30 hour diverse main missions and enjoy the best realized story I've ever experienced in an MMO title.

Yet, I recommend that most players find a friend or two to get the most out of the game. Adding party members increases enemy numbers and intelligence. A coordinated party will have much more success in Dark Zone PVP areas where every other human being is met with extreme caution. In addition, multiple party members allow individuals to specialize their stats for a specific role using the surprisingly deep RPG customization. Loot and experience are individual, so there is no worry about getting less experience or loot while in a party.

Customization runs very deep in The Division. Weapons have several tiers and several levels. A more rare item may have unique abilities that are unlocked based upon your player stats. In addition, each weapon has a unique number of mod slots that allow you to further customize the stability, damage, critical hit chances, and zoom. Armor is similarly varied. Armor number is not necessarily the only thing you want to consider when equipping new pieces. Each piece of armor (chest, mask, gloves, holster, backpack, knee pads) gives a different stat boost (guns(attack), stamina(health), and technology (abilities). If playing in a group as a specific role, you may want the armor that gives you the best skill upgrade, not purely the one with the highest armor rating. Armor can also have mod slots that allow for further customization. As you upgrade your base of operations you'll unlock a crafting table to make your own gear and crafting items and a recalibration which can be used to gamble on a random selection of stat buffs for armor.

Your character customization includes abilities (must be activated), talents (must be equipped), and perks (passive). Within the abilities, you can unlock further customization. For example, a sentry turret can be altered to mark enemies, shock and temporarily paralyze enemies, or shoot fire. You can also outfit your character in various ways for a fun look. Choose between various types and colors of hats, shirts, pants, coats, scarves, and shoes. Color coordinating with party members can also be useful for identification in the Dark Zone.

The environment of the game is outstanding. As a person who previously lived in New York City, I found myself stopping to admire the landmarks I recognized and the familiarity it brought to the game. The desolate landscape of a cold and unforgiving city in the middle of winter is represented perfectly. All around you remnants of a society gone past remain. Sick citizens cough, cry, and plead for help. The game captures what a pandemic in a major center like New York City could do. The Division is by no means a small game, but it is somewhat disappointing key areas like Central Park and Harlem are not accessible in the current game. In addition, there's several boroughs left untouched. Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx would be great for further exploration. Imagine fighting through waves of enemies in Yankee Stadium or Citi Field. Fingers crossed for expansions.

The endgame causes a slight slowdown in gameplay. Yet, this should be expected after indulging in the 25-30 marathon of main story missions and getting to the main level cap. For a game that is not subscription nor microtransaction based, this is more than acceptable. However, if you do find yourself wanting more there are various side missions, encounter missions, a separate Dark Zone level cap, various collectibles to give you story context, base upgrades, loot, and daily missions to keep you and your friends very busy. Trophies/Achievements and UPlay points give nice incentive to replay story missions on Hard difficulty as well. In addition, there are clear statements of various missions and events such as "incursions" coming soon in free updates.

In summation, Tom Clancy's The Division is a masterpiece in fun team mechanics, hybrid gameplay, and deep customization. The game draws many comparisons to Destiny. It's not surprising seeing how few of these types of games currently exist. However, the launch version of Destiny felt very empty, lacked storytelling, and had bare bones customization and enemy variation. The Division does not suffer from any of these shortcomings. Those looking for a great 30 hours of single player fun or countless hours of coop fun with friends, look no further than The Division.

Some say missions are repetitive, but they're crazy. Yes, the central gameplay mechanic is shooting, and that repeats - it's a shooter. But the tactical variety in the world and level design means no encounter ever feels the same. Vary your tactics, skills, weapons, verticality, etc and each fight is a blast.

Solo or co-op are both viable and fun. Amazing game, world design is absolutely stunning, and plenty to discover and do as you explore this incredible game. Massive is clearly one of the best studios Ubisoft owns. Great job guys, lived up to the hype and then some.

Enemies are just bullet sponges which i understand is what all rpgs are at their core , but I'm sorry dumping a belt of .308 out of an M60 into anybody, body armor or not, will turn you into pulp. Which as you progress becomes a repetitive, agonizing, chore. Hell you're lucky if some of them even flinch after dumping a magazine into their skull. On top of that the storyline missions are the only unique things in the entire game every side mission and encounter are the same damn thing in each zone. Playing solo honestly feels punishing at times, like the game designers strictly intended for you to play this with at least one friend or not at all. Why? Because when you're going up against a heavily armored elite enemy nothing slows them down except flashbangs. So when they bullrush you, which most of the elites do, running is almost as bad as as just standing there and dumping bullets into them and taking everything they got. Character progression is horribly implemented as all of your abilities, perks and talents are received from upgrading your base. This wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the fact that you have no control how you receive the different wing upgrade points, which in the beginning is mostly medical meaning if you want to run with tech or security settings you have to progress through more than half of the game to really get into them. Then there's your level which is pretty much pointless as per its only real purpose is to limit the gear you can wear. So even though hardcores who defended that this game wasn't Destiny even before an alpha or beta was released, it is and it has all the same pitfalls Destiny had. Honestly, without the fantasy element that Destiny has this game is going to dead end quick, I mean if the government quarantined a deadly outbreak and containment got this bad realistically they would eventually just have to cut their losses and eradicate the infection. Even if the game moves to world wide epidemic the world would be like "The Last of Us" kind of vacant. Then there's the endgame content which is the dark zone which isn't and has no "raid" area it's just a bunch or random mobs that if you go in solo can easily out number and overrun you, on top of the problem of other players ganking you and stealing your hard earned loot. I'm sorry but if i'm going to spend hours grinding elites and can lose it all by dying to elites or other player before getting it extracted than no thank you i'm out. Few, so few rpgs rob you of loot in your inventory upon death and limit your option of using it on pickup, especially endgame loot, that i'm not really sure how anyone thought this was a good idea. And it's not just loot your DZ rank which limits what chests you can open is lost when you die which is just so stupid. This really just goes back to the game designers punishing you for not playing with friends which i get that this game is an mmo but, getting people together for hours of grinding with no real goal for endgame content is a joke. Character creation is a joke and changing gear has little or no effect to your appearance. The cloths appearance options are a joke as most of the stuff i've found are just very slight differences from each other. It really just feels like ubisoft just took what Destiny was doing and tried to cash in on it with a slightly different twist. The metacritic review seems like it was bought as per even ign didn't give this game as high of a rating. The farther you get in this game the less it feels like you're progressing even when constantly upgrading your gear the enemies just seem to take longer to kill and unflinchingly laugh at your well placed bullets. Oh and let's not forget about the randomly peppered land mines you constantly run into when you're nowhere near enemies that you have to waste a medkit on if you even get skimmed by it because of the bleed damage. Or go threw the horribly mapped item wheel to use a debuff cleans item which the items and grenades wheels are horrible to use under pressure. And the items, those are pretty much useless never touched the damn things. Some of the the abilities like the homing mine that chases people down and then explodes before it actually reaches them or the turret which sometimes decides to not shoot at anything are also pretty damn annoying. Just super disappointed by this game and wish my friend hadn't demanded we get this so we could play together. Expand

Then all of the sudden things started to get boring. I were just running around doeing side quest and unlocking perks for the sake of unlocking them. I wen't to dark zone to see if its any fun but it was complete deal breaker for me. Big area with some bullet spongis elite mobs. People that may kill you for the sake of getting killed them self by someone else. Loot was over average but dropped ridiculous amounts of it if you died. So now you may think I should just go pvp style, steal loot and smile but no, you see here is one of the biggest flaws of this whole pvp dark zone. If you kill or even shoot at someone you are marked as a rogue to everyones minimap and can be killed without any penalty. Why don't I just run away with loot? Darkzone loot needs to be extracted with helicopter from few predetermined zones making it too hard to actually run away without being killed.

    Score break down

Graphics: 8/10 nothing spectacular but still good.
Gun play: 7/10 nothing special. Guns felt bit different from each other.
Perks, talents and skills: 5/10 stupidly limited to only 3 slots for talents Call of Duty stile, perks are allways active but everyone gets all those same perks. once you equip your first 2 skills you are not touching them much. Overall boring, shooter gliche kind of set up bringin allmost nothing to game.

Gear and crafting: 5/10 same old boring more armor gear and crafting was extremely dull.

Story: 6/10 nothing amazing, gliche but it didn't feel too bothering except for those useless whining moments from main carachers.
Collectibles; 5/10 some nice peaces of new suits, video feeds were allways about some savages chasing people or attacking some aid posts, voice collectibles full of useless OMG that dress is awesome phone conversations or savage crying about being savage to his boss but boss just says don't whine we have to kill this people or telling how to rob someone clean.

The end game content is thin thus far but its not non existent, for those who lean towards grindy games then this is for you and the end game will keep you interested for sure while you chase that next piece of high end loot. Combat is satisfying enough that it keeps the grind interesting. I will admit that pre lvl 30 the grind is fairly monotonous (but once again is you enjoy the grind as I do this should be no issue) but once you get to lvl 30 and start getting some good gear the game because far more challenging (if you want it to be). You can hope into daily challenge modes which are daily missions that have pretty eye watering difficulty at times but are ultimately incredibly satisfying if you team up with friends and coordinate well. Similarly if you want more of a challenge you can hope into the dark zone which is the PvE/PvP area of the game. This is the area where your gear grind will be most bountiful but beware other agents are roaming around aswell and they have the option to kill you if they think that you have loot that they want. Rogue agents in the dark zone are rare however as going rogue is very high risk and very low reward in most cases (something massive might tweak in the future). Teaming up with friends and grinding the dark zone or challenge mode makes this game infinitely better, I would say similar to destiny its not a game you can play alone and get the full value out of.

As for Massive (the developers) I think they have done a great job thus far. A lot of developers/publishers of AAA games will develop and ship their game and then forget about it but massive have already showed that they are invested in the game and are committed to ongoing improvement of the game. They have already shown to be responsive to the growing reddit community for the game. They have laid out a one year plan of new content, the first of which is a free update which appears to be introducing raid like missions to the game. I think that the division is a game that one can only true judge at the end of the year when all of Massive's plans have finally come to fruition

I'll finish how I started. If you like destiny or diablo then odds are you will love the division. The game is all about that dank loot grind so please ignore the people complaining the game is too grindy, the game isn't for everyone but as a loot grinding game is been pretty damn good thus far and the future looks even brighter for the division

The Dark Zone is a love hate relationship but is over ran by a bunch of pubescent teens that like to camp and harass the **** out of you and camp your stuff so you may never get the items you've rightfully earned and drop lots of ranks. It's a shame that this game has so much appeal and the whole idea of a Dark Zone is sweet. But the fact that other players can hear your mic conversations and randomly join in on your party chat with friends to know what your gonna do and talk to back and fourth I really feel Ubigay screwed up on. What part of the game requires strategy but you cant do it because you have 2-3 other dip ****s listening in so they know your next move. I really had high hopes for this game and in one fell swoop it was ruined by a bunch of over geared lvl 13-14 players decked out in legendary gear at 14 to kill other players and all they do is sit together and act all nice then kill you when your trying to load the chopper.. This game is for you if you have no life or only see to it as to bully other players and ruin there experience of the game. Has Ubigay ever heard about Battle Grounds? I think not I think The Dark Zone should be a PVE with harder bosses and etc not a lets see if my team of bullies can kill a team of friends/casual players. So as I will say the missions are very bland The Dark Zone is blunt and needs a lot of improvements. Oh and so you know they whole aspect of RPG shooters turning into a mass pvp game where Level and gear matters is terrible. There is a huge reason why other mmo's have a balancing to there PVP. So I will play my game till its beat but I will get rid of it right after because the experience I've had in the Dark Zone was utter **** Better to stick to Destiny least they did they're research on how to execute a proper MMO.
I hope I don't prevent people from playing this could be gem but if you plan to play solo or with maybe 1 other friend then move on this game is NOT for you. Thank you for reading my review and I hope this helps out in any way.

I bought The Division to take a break from Destiny for awhile. Totally blew me away on how intricate the game is. I've broke this review down to suit the type of game.

    RPG aspect

Excellent and very clever design. The classes aren't set in stone, you can easily switch to Heals, Tank and DPS freely which means you don't have to create too many alts. The Character Creator was a total bummer especially for this genre of game. I end up looking like 3 of my friends (I'm Asian btw, the stereotype of us looking alike. THE IRONY!!) You either have a choice between Asian, Afro American, Hispanic or middle age white guy...or ugly butch women with short hair.

The loot drops are SOOOO much better than Destiny. You will be upgrading gear nearly every time you complete any missions. Fetch quests are no longer, you just complete missions get the gear and rewards straight away.

    Shooter aspect

Totally 3rd person and again its RPG style. Head shots, although does more damage doesn't kill enemies straight away. FPS fans, might be turned away from this. Bosses are bullet sponges yet your team will need to use good strategy to bring them down eg. suppression fire, stun grenades. My only drawback is that there's no prone or crouch position and sneak.

    Story and Gameplay

Story to me is pretty linear with good voice acting. The environment is top notch. Gunfire echoes down the empty streets, enemies shouting instructions making Combat really intense. AI can be a bit inconsistent. Times they flank you on both sides with shotguns and baseball bats, other times they climb on top of a car where they become a sitting duck.

Co Op and Dark Zone PvP

The Co Op I have no problems whatsoever. Still a fresh game, won't have a problem finding crews. As simple as choosing 'Open' and watch players jump in your game straight to the action.

The Dark Zone is a new approach to PvP. You can either work as a team with other players to kill AI with high end gear or you can choose to go 'Rogue' and hunt down fellow human players and steal their loot but get punished more when you get killed. Any loot gathered can't be used unless extracted by chopper which makes the gameplay exciting yet stressful as you need to defend the extraction for about 2min from AI and human scavengers who will try to kill you at the very end and steal your loot. I find this an awesome way of PvP. It's not perfect yet but I think it will improve especially with the upcoming DLC.

Overall, I love this game. Although they are 2 very different games, The Division did their research on Destiny's many flaws and came up trumps.

I give it a 9 praising gameplay, multiplayer, graphics and sound.

    - 1 for the Character Creation as I found it very limited especially for a game with strong RPG features.

If Destiny was a phoenix then The Division is some kind of ultra-phoenix raising from Destiny’s ashes. To be clear I was one of the folks who loved Destiny but because of that I lived through all of its flaws, and there where many, so when I logged into The Division for the first time I expected to see the same kind of issues. My biggest cocern was the overhype/under promise that was Destiny so imagine my surprise when that wasn’t the case.

The Division is dense. Leveling up to 30 was an absolute treat with great gameplay and an amazing environment. Everything is mechanically sound, there is extensive crafting, serious equipment customization, and proper rpg mechanics rather than the shallow excuse Destiny had.

The only negative comment I have about this game that the story lacks and takes a back seat to everything else. It doesn’t really become interesting until end game and once you’re there it seems like it’s going on in the peripheral and you’re not really a part of it.

The environment is gorgeous and immersive. I have no idea how they managed to make a small part of New York into such a varied and interesting place, but Ubisoft did it. Each faction leaves its imprint on the areas they inhabit. The streets are alive despite being abandoned as crippled citizen’s hobble to you asking for aid.

I’m level 30 and thoroughly invested in the End Game which is where these games really need to shine. Matchmaking is solid (if not perfect) and once you’re in with a good group the opportunities for PVE and PVP are endless. The open world integrates perfectly through the use of the darkzone making the endgame content seem like a real part of the world rather than a hallway tacked onto the game.

As usual not everyone will love this game. You can’t please everyone, but if you take the time to sit down and invest in The Division you will find yourself sucked in and loving every moment of it.

Wow I'm surprised people are actually happy with the graphics in this game? This is what you call good graphics ? Seriously? They are a HUGE dissapointment IMO. The level of details in the models (birds, dogs, dudes on the streeet, cars and even the explosions and smoke effects) are mediocre at their best. To me it looks like a PS3 game, seriously.

Graphics aside, the mechanics of the game are really adictive, like destiny. It's really fun to play coop, and the level of difficulty is well balanced. The map is huge and at first the seems like there is loads of content. The shooting is fun, although the enemies seem a bit like bullet sponges and stupid at first.

After playing for several days I feel like it's missing something. It got pretty repetitive sooner than I thought. I need more variety to keep me hooked, I got the same feeling I got with destiny now.

This is not an innovative game, you should know that going into it. Although fights can get repetitive, and the story is incredibly cheesy, this is a game you can have blind fun with, as long as your expectations are not too high.

It won't win converts to the genre and the plot is problematic, but The Division is a handsome open-world offering, spiked with treachery. [May 2016, p.81]

That's the essential nature, and essential problem, of The Division's underlying structure. It's asking you to hunt gear with no tangible reward in terms of what you can do, how you do it, or what you look like doing it. [May 2016, p.108]

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
