The very definition of mediocrity. Bland mechanics, shooting feels uninspired, missions are mind-numbingly repetitive. An unsuccessful mishmash of tactical shooting, RPG, and MMO; Ubi should have picked one and stuck with it. Wait for this game to drop in price, or borrow from a friend.

This game is just a cheap cash in that does nothing original. It's just a shallow third person cover shooter with other players and loot (whoop de do). The graphics are good but they pulled a Watch Dogs again, meaning they lied to their consumers. There are microtransactions and plenty of connection problems. Just a overall shallow and cheaply made game for the casual gamers everywhere.

The game was completely unplayable at launch, as I spent 2 hours trying to join get in a server. Even when I finally got in, I had to wait in an in-game line to access a terminal that only one player can use at time. That's right. A f*cking line. In a video game. And it only got worse from there.

Luckily, the problems at launch were fixed quickly, so I'll give them credit there. However, that didn't fix the other problems. First, the story, which is boring and uninteresting, but honestly, I saw that coming. Second, the monotony. The Division is the most repetitive game I've ever played. Mission after mission, all you're doing is going from point A to point B and killing dudes in hoodies, who are the most bullet-sponge enemies I've ever encountered in a game. The bosses aren't much better, and are pretty much just more powerful dudes in hoodies. To give you an idea of how bland the enemies and bosses are, the final boss is a helicopter.

Then there's the Dark Zone, the single worst part of the game. The Dark Zone was planned to be a PVP area where players could battle it out for special loot. However, when you kill someone in the Dark Zone, you're marked rogue, and every player on the map can see you, so you become a giant target for people to come and kill. Because of the AI coming to kill you, it actually benefits you more to work together, which means you're doing the exact same thing in the Dark Zone as you were doing in the main game.

Lastly, there's the endgame, which happens when you get to level 30. What you get is daily missions and some extra loot. I tried one of these missions and realised it was exactly the same as every other mission I had done before, so I dropped out of it quickly.

Overall, The Division is probably the worst game Ubisoft has ever released, and one of the worst games I've ever played. It's not completely broken, but it's still really bad. I can't recommend it to anyone, unless you like repetitive gameplay.

I did not like this at all.

    - Enemy AI are bullet sponges
    - I feel that the city is empty and I'm always walking around
    - Story is pretty light
    - Not many enemy models
    - Aiming and recoil mechanics at times are undesirable
    - Very repetitive.. Just a soulless series of fetch quests.

Graphics and city detail are nice!

    Not worth $60

The endgame is really lacking and the only reliable way to get gear right now is crafting, which makes replaying missions useless. At the moment i can't say that i am looking forward to anything the game has to offer. I will probably be back for incursions, but i will do them once or twice and i will be done. Unless they have some interesting mechanics, which are otherwise lacking in the campaign and dark zone.
The dark zone is where the division is at its most worst in my opinion. Unless you want to craft things, there is 0 need for you to extract. I heard that the new patch increased the rogue percentage but it's just not enough for me since most of the time the items i get are too boring to extract, and that's what i usually get with 185 scavenging. I had only one yellow drop that wasn't even an upgrade to the vendor stuff. Not even in terms of armor or any other stat that isn't a talent.
The gameplay is solid but it is severly lacking. There's no variety to anything, since the actives are just that, only actives, and don't require much skill to deploy. The guns are somewhat different and they feel different, which is the only nice thing i can say about the gameplay.
If you are expecting interesting missions, well, all i can say is that the game is just horde mode. The last boss has some kind of a mechanic (if you pay attention to the dialogues) but can easily be ignored and shot through without any problem.
What is the most unfortunate thing for me is that i bought the season pass, but i already feel like this is the last game i'm going to play because it is nothing more then a deception and it is so boring it got me bored of gaming in general, and i'm not even salty when i'm saying this.
Although i cannot say that they failed anything, not even the dark zone is really that bad, it is just boring, which is different from complete failure, this game just doesn't seem to be engaging enough for me to keep playing it. The lack of dropped loot and the lack of boss mechanics really kill it for me.

Melee (for your player) is terrible! just a measly kinda back hand small hit, nothing that will do any damage to your opponent though. No way to sneak and strangle, or brawl. Is that what they teach these supposedly highly trained, last resource soldiers?
you die, and have to start from zero...
Thanks but the 6 hours demo was enough for me to decide to buy another game, this game is totally out of whack and not enjoyable.

I knew it was going to just be a filler game for me but I haven't wanted to see a game to fail as badly as I want to see The Division fail. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay and story were fine (if uninspired and didn't feel particularly rewarding killing anything) up through level 30 but it promotes the most immoral, immature play in the Dark Zone and the constant accusations of "being a weak player" from the horrible community that surrounds the game doesn't help. It's a shame that the community is such a negative one but the design of the game encourages that attitude.

The dark zone could be an exercise in tactics but it's largely just a cesspool of high level players killing new players at the entrance gates or extraction zones; not for gear but to hinder the other players. The general DZ community (which is the only community left) thrives on making the other players' time worthless and they consider that "fun". You see "manhunt" videos on youtube with players just killing whoever seeing how long they can go. Sure they're interesting to watch but putting yourself in the victims' shoes, they could've just gotten a drop they actually wanted just to have it taken from them for some nobody making a youtube video no one will watch. Outside of the terrible DZ community, the DZ is really just an area you run around collecting boxes of division tech which allows you to craft the highest tier of weapon or armor but the catch is you have to buy blueprints from DZ vendors with a separate DZ currency and DZ rank requirement (Don't worry about currency though. You'll have about 50 times what you need by the time you reach the rank you have to be). The only things worth crafting are somewhere around rank 50+ which is several hundred hours of DZ play with minimal backwards progress whenever you die. That sums up end game. Collecting boxes of crafting materials to craft weapons that have Destiny ratios of bad perks to good perks in the hopes that once you finally get all the requirements to make your weapon (or armor) you get to roll the dice with now hundreds of hours of work and that's if you know what perks you want and can utilize based on your other gear. Then, you don't have any content to use your new perfectly crafted gear (because you somehow didn't get shafted 500 times in a row) so you go back to collecting boxes of materials now for no good reason. That's it. Box collecting. You don't even shoot at enemies anymore because they can't give you anything you want. the only reason to shoot an enemy is because it's in the way to your next box.

The incursions are no more than challenging story missions that have the same reward to time invested problem the rest of the game has. Everything in "end-game" pve has so much health that it doesn't actually matter what weapons you use since you'll run out of ammo in the first room... for every weapon you have. The difficulty scales with the number of people in the squad so don't worry, all your friends don't have any ammo after the first room either. It gets better if everyone is geared properly but they're still a slog for a drop that isn't going to be worth it. You might as well be visiting your favorite boxes of materials.

Unless you can dedicate hundreds of hours to grinding gear, holding square to collect boxes of materials, don't mind wasting tons of your free time to someone who, on a whim, kills you and takes any progress you might have made in the past hour or so, and have thick enough skin to not get mad at 80% of the playerbase **** you, you're never going to get or stay up to date or be able to do or craft anything worthwhile (and that's if content that fits that description is created as it doesn't exist at this time). There's nothing to do in this game once you arrive at end-game. Save your money. Borrow it from someone, watch a playthrough of the story on youtube or twitch or wait for a really good sale and don't get your hopes up for anything worth doing after you finish the story. Almost any game is better than The Division in its current state and PS4 doesn't even have all the hacking issues PC has.

At best the game could be described as unambitious but to be honest I've simply found it downright boring. The cover based shooting is functional, but its not even close to being as good as something like Gears of War, and the RPG elements just turn everything into a grind (and don't get me started on the bullet sponge enemies). Add in an instantly forgettable storyline and 6 hours is about as much of The Division as I can take.

Do not be one of the people who say it's fantastic just to justify your purchase. Care about gaming - tell the truth. Unless you like bullet sponges and repetitive gameplay ofcourse.

High end gear is extremely difficult and rare to find. Crafting is , to be honest, a joke as you can not craft nothing decent unless you spend 300,000 dark zone points and need to be lvl 75 in the dark zone. Multiplayer nerfs lover gear score players as group quickly kick any player with a low gear score which , in essence, means ubisoft is acutely rewarding players who have used the cheats and exploits to get the best gear.
The utter lack of thought that ubisoft has approached the end game with is shocking, and please remember this game was 4 years in the making!!! Every update they are tweaking and changing things. Upon launch named weapons were considered the best, after the update they are nothing short of a joke.

    2. There are a huge amount of glitches in the game, creating abuses, areas you can get stuck in, and lots of situations where the game **** you over with glitches, making for a frustrating experience.
    3. Dark Zone, an integral part of farming gear for the end-game is basically a ganking paradise where griefers and trolls outnumber normal players, making it near impossible to get play in this zone without these people ruining you experience. Even worse is the "Rogue" system is so onesided, that it is usually abused by griefers instead, keeping them free to gank you to hell, without being punished or targeted. A horrible, horrible system.
    4. Co-op missions have a somewhat solid matchmaking system, only problem is that if a player leaves the group, which they do OFTEN, you have to start the entire mission over, since people cant join mid game.

This is just a short list of the many many frustrating parts of this game. I have to admit that it is strangely addictive, and the story line is fairly interesting. But I have no idea how a AAA title can be this flawed both from a functional point, as well as a gameplay point. I bought the season pass along with the title, and I have to admit that i honestly regret this decision now.

Lost to factions and gangs, the government sends in Division Agents to reclaim the city. The Division is a third person shooter with a mix of RPG and MMO elements. Your character runs around the city completing missions, side quests and encounters to secure zones throughout the city. However this game is riddled with problems. Firstly, the story to the game is not presented well, the side missions are repetitive and provide nothing but your time The missions are too easy and the Dark Zone (the games PVP) is ridiculously boring and and filled with cheap tactics, glitches and cheats.

To excel in PVP you gear means everything. In a game where gear specs are completely random this can be quite frustrating as luck plays more of a factor than skill in being a unstoppable force in the Dark Zone. The shotgun NPC's are overpowered and over accurate, the gear drops are so randomized it is extremely frustrating as your search for the best in slot gear. A lot of the games abilities and talents are broken or glitched. The loading times are unbearable. With the exception of the Dark Zone area, you never once encounter another player running around the city unless in a party, making the city a very bleak underpopulated world.

This game has potential, but very problematic. The developers are new to this genre of games and vast issues the game faces shows it. On a positive note the graphics are very appealing. But we all know graphics aren't what make a game great.

Overall this is a mediocre game. Maybe The Division will improve in the future, but in the meantime it is a game to get if you literally have nothing better to do. For the trophy hunters, getting the platinum trophy is extremely easy, however there are grinding elements especially with the collection of collectibles throughout the game world. They're just dudes with bigger health bars, with the final boss just being one giant health bar while enemies spawn around you to insta-kill you as you're camped in a corner, just unloading magazine after magazine into it. Some cover areas are bugged to where you can't walk around their corners/unable to climb over them/running into an invisible wall when all you want to do is just drop down five inches of its ledge. But if you're a single player like me, you're going to be very bored. I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place if I knew the single player experience was so hollow. The reviews I read said that the main story was still fun if you were playing it by yourself. It's just not true. This game is meant to be played with friends.

I think it's false advertising to say this game has "RPG elements." Sure, you level up and can use better gear throughout the game, but that's not all it takes to be an RPG. An RPG needs to have dynamic characters, and those just don't exist in this game.

I don't understand it. You have all these game studios fighting over a few storyboard writers. It's like, "Did you hear that Mass Effect lost so-and-so to Bungie. That means Destiny 2 is going to be so good and the new Mass Effect is going to be terrible." But shouldn't there be like a whole bunch of good storyboard writers out there? How hard is it to write a good story for a video game?

    Hard enough, I guess.

I must admit I'm baffled by all the positive reviews this game is getting, although maybe it's because I'm playing solo and have no interest in joining up with randoms. The game is repetitive and boring, with limited variety in enemies and gameplay. After loving Fallout 4, Metal Gear V and other games over the last few months, I found the Division very average in comparison.

This is gonna become even worse when you think that every new addition to make the gameplay just a little more enjoyable is gonna be payed as a DLC.
If you wanna waste time with friends, this game could be a cool thing, otherwise just don't buy it.

However...when playing more and more of the game I was just more and more disappointed.
There is this infection going on...that is the main cause of all bad things, that is, total anarchy sweeps through NY. You are there as part of a secret agency to correct that..that is the chaos that will overtakenthe city. Basically this means you shoot down gangs. Endlessly. There are some paperthin story aspects to it, but this is what you will be doing. Sounds boring? Well it doesn't have to be but it is. There is very little story bound to who you are wiping down. Or to the other agents. There is some, but it didn't interest me one bit.
To sum it up...the story didn't get me. At all.

Then there is this dreaded bullet sponginess. It should be excused because its the RPG element, but for me it just didn't work. Having more realism would have. Shooting people in the head over and over again without effect because they are more "leveled" just feels off. In another more fantasy lik setting it wouldn't.

The division feels very bland. Streets look the same, they look great, but its more of the same, and more.., enemy's do, hell even the bosses are just very much the same and can absorb an insane amount of bullets.

There is the darkzone where you get killed instantly ifnyou come alone and even with a group, its not as fun as "regular" multiplay games.

What's left is the looting. Thats sorta fun. But a shallow aspect for an entire game.

No the division is not for me.

Let me say first off that this game is hands down some of the most stunning environments and world building I've ever witnessed in a game. It's recreation of and envisioning of a virus stricken New York is stunning, the streets and alleys filled to the brim with detail. Bodies line the sewers, papers blow throw the air, crashed cars line the streets, storefronts looted by vandals. ThisLet me say first off that this game is hands down some of the most stunning environments and world building I've ever witnessed in a game. It's recreation of and envisioning of a virus stricken New York is stunning, the streets and alleys filled to the brim with detail. Bodies line the sewers, papers blow throw the air, crashed cars line the streets, storefronts looted by vandals. This game is a stunning vision of a bio-terrorist attack. Even the weather system, which changes all the time, is a stunning achievement. One minute you could be wondering the dark zone in a clear Winter night, and within a matter of minutes you can hardly see through the swirling snow falling from the skies. Having said that ultimately this game, in my opinion, is a failure. It's story seems shallow, its' characters nothing but cookie cutter characters from your typical Hollywood film. Throughout the game I found myself wondering why bother saving these people, I don't even know enough about them besides their names and the fact that one's paranoid, another's a typical good cop, and another is an abrasive doctor. Half the time I didn't know who the bad guy was. I mean I knew who he was, but the most information I got about him came from an ECHO at the end of the game. And while the crafting system is decent, everything looks the same, and the perks don't feel game changing enough. Now I believe that also has to do with the fact that there is absolutely no enemy variety in this game. There are guys with flamethrowers, guys with shotguns, guys with baseball bats, guys with turrets, drones, and, and this one only shows up once at the end, a helicopter. These enemies don't allow the weapons to shine, to show you why you should choose this perk over that. Even the incursions, advertised as the Raids of the Division, is just you in a room fighting fifteen waves of enemies, all of them bullet sponges, while an APC one shots you and your team. And that's the essential problem with the Division. There's not nearly enough variety where it matters most. In the environment, sure, but in the story, the enemies, the weapons, even your own characters, they're all the same. They all look the same, sound the same, act the same. So unless you want to play a game that literally is just the same from beginning to end, I do not recommend this game. Besides the Dark Zone (And God I hope you have friends for The Dark Zone cause its troll central without them) this game has nothing new that makes it worth $60. It should have cost me more then $40. We are told that this is a Tactical RPG, but this really didn't feel much different than, say, SWTOR...but then that'd be an insult to SWTOR because at least there is gameplay that is fun there. The missions are simple: either go fetch or save some schmuck that couldn't save themselves from a wet paper bag with a flashlight and a map. Ad nauseum! Boss fights? Yeah, find the weak spot(s) and shoot. I was bored less when I was doing this in GTA V.

Oh, and I hope you micromanaged your gear, or you're screwed! Don't even get me started on the worthless attire you can pick up...

Glitches and exploits! Get your glitches and exploits here! It's glitch and exploit heaven in this game, and Ubisoft hasn't done jack **** to fix them. Ooooh, they'll ban you if you're caught using exploits in Falcon Lost...how about the other BAZILLION other glitches and exploits that I can find numerous videos on YouTube on inside of 10 seconds??? For every one Ubisoft supposedly fixes, fifteen more pop up immediately.

Dark Zone is pointless for new players as the rewards system was nerfed (along with other things) with the update that brought us Falcon Lost. Unless you were playing from Day 1 and have either done the grind legitimately or have used exploits to rank way up, you'd want to avoid this at all costs (and it's a toss-up even with a party of four if they are higher rank).

Boy did I get fooled when I played the "beta". I was stupid enough to buy the Gold Edition...now I have buyer's remorse. I give it a one only because of the three minutes of fun I had with this game.

Avoid this game like The Clap!

This is one of the worst games I ever played. Enemies literally take hundreds of bullets to take down (and you fight wave upon wave). Your character is killed with a single bullet or two, or one swing from a baseball bat (which you almost can't avoid, because you MUST reload at least twice to kill the enemy charging with a bat, and he kills you when you go for your second clip). The controls are also terrible. You try to run towards a door to escape the horde of enemies, but the camera "jostles" and you run into a wall instead. This results in death as it takes 20 seconds or so to turn around, line up the door again, and try to run. Yuck. Even worse, he developers crowed that this was a "great" single-player experience (you absolutely, positively can not play this game solo), but that was just a lie. This is the worst game I ever played, but the graphics are amazing and the concept has such great potential. But the gameplay is so bad, it remains the purchase I most regret in more than 15 years of gaming. Expand

And then you hit level 30.

So now in order to accomplish anything you must venture into the Dark Zone to get better gear. Be prepared. You will run into a steady stream of higher leveled, better geared players that will kill you without a second thought. Not for your paltry drops, but for your currency and for **** and giggles. The best part? When you get jumped and killed by another player YOU lose XP, money, keys, and any items you might have gotten.

In essence Massive/Ubisoft has gone out of their way to make a game that actually rewards people being online bullies. It's not uncommon to walk out of the DZ after a few hours and have less XP than when you started and absolutely nothing to show for your time there.

That's part of the problem. The major issue is with Massive itself. This crew of developers has no clue what they want to do with this game. The only thing they have consistently done is ignore their user base.

Things are regularly nerfed without any prior notice. The game is FILLED with glitches that can be exploited to your advantage. In order to get anything of note accomplished in game, you need a group.

The graphics are bland and have an amazing bluish hue at all times. NPC's have maybe 6 skins between each faction. So there isn't much variety.

Hopefully if you purchased the game you weren't stupid like I was and bought the season pass. This "season pass" is an absolute joke. Your reward for spending the extra money? 5 crafting materials a month for the first three months. Just now has Massive implemented bi-monthly "events." These events are nothing more than killing 6 - 8 enemies and getting a supply drop.

If you want a blue print on how to mistreat your customers while taking their money look no further than Massive/Ubisoft.

But that's not why I am giving it a 0. It's the Survival dlc. At this very moment the only impression I get from this dlc was that I was scammed. I legitimatley feel like I was decieved into buying it. The reason why is because I thought I was buying a game I could actually play. However, the dlc content doesn't even **** work. At all. 0 seconds worth of gameplay.

I go to the portion of the world where I can access and play the dlc. However I am blocked by an error that reads "This content is not currently installed, would you like to download and install now?" Now this would be normal if I had not done that already. So what the hell I select to install anyways and all I get is a "Please wait..." type message for which results in jack **** I have spend a couple hours trying for a fix such as uninstalling and reinstalling, **** the licenses, deleting the cache yadayadayada nothing worked.

Now it was time for me to spend hours scavenging the internet for any info on how to fix to the issue. The best I could come up with was a an ubisoft forum discussing the issue in great detail and a very helpful user by the name of FireOwneD (user was not an ubisoft employee. The Ubisoft employees however were very clueless and useless :D ) who provided a work-around that works for some. But, it didn't work for me unfortunately.

By this time I have spent several hours trying to just play one second of this dlc I paid for and probably wont get a refund on. All the while I'm thinking "I'm spending the better portion of my day off trying to **** a dev issue so glaringly blatant it shouldn't have occured in the first place" But hey here I am. This dlc have been out for a couple weeks for PS4 and a month and a half for XONE and this issue has been occuring for XONE users as well. How in the world wide **** has this not been properly addressed yet? I know Ubisoft is practically known for it's buggy, lazy **** games but with this they managed to top themselves by creating content that doesn't even work from the get-go. Somehow I almost feel stupid because I have bought Ubisoft games in the past and got **** like this. I hope Ubisoft is reading this so I can say: **** you Ubisoft. Listen, i'm sure the Division is fun if you have some friends. Although I have a few, none of them bought the game, or at least didn't play it. I went solo for the entirety of the experience, and did not enjoy any of it. The game just kinda starts with a paper-thin backstory, and then continues to take through a series of repetitive trials veiled by a plot so thin it appears invisible from the side. And i have to say, for an MMORPG, this game failed in the character creation aspect. There is no reason to make more than one character, unless you like endless cover shooting and bullet sponge enemies.

The guns all feel samey, and the gear customization does not extend farther than the overall look of "dude in a hoodie." The game does look beautiful, i can give it that, but that may be the only positive I can cite. I found most of the slog pointless, and at the end, it all just felt like a pointless timekiller. The game wasn't engaging, it didn't engross me in it's world, it didn't give me a memorable experience, there just was nothing to make me like it. That may be the problem actually. It's not that there's bad things; there's just no good things. 2/10

I'm one of a group of elite embedded agents in place for just such on occurrence? Quick tutorial on taking cover and shooting, then I'm dumped in a safe house with what looks like other players running around and some npc trying to sell me something and that keeps telling people not to walk away. Ok, quick cut-scene where I"m "another one" then I'm off to do some generic mission. I got to a place where I'm supposed to go to Manhattan, but I can't. There's nothing else to do. Looking at the door to Manhattan I apparently have to wait 16 hours to 'copy files'. Nothing shows up as downloading on my Playstation, are they telling me I have to leave the game open and running for 16 hours?

Anyway, from the 5 or so missions I did get to do, it seems like a less interesting near-future WOW. Get a little dialog if I'm lucky, then run for a hundred yards to get somewhere where I hear 'Warning: Hostiles". Shoot said hostiles and walk up to a glowing box with the medical supplies, food, or whatever (they all look the same). Apparently those were bad guys, but it seems to me they could have just been normal people like anyone else, just trying to survive. So I kill all them and steal their food or medical supplies to give it to someone "who needs it more". Only I don't even get to do that, I just get a "mission complete" and some xp.

The trailer and reviews led me to believe this would be a deep and interesting RPG with a story where I get to be a hero and make a difference. What I got was a basic cover shoot-em-up with "bad-guys" that might not really be bad, but eat bullets like it's their last meal and keep coming. Oh, and I get to use my "UPlay" account which I setup for a Battlefield game years ago and never wanted to have to touch again!

The single player campaign is fun and for anyone interested in the story there are a lot of POIs on the map which will last for hours. Few times I smiled to myself when I played a recording from a mobile phone of some girl stalking back the stalker.

Cons: Price! To get the full value from the game you HAVE to play with others in Dark Zone, therefore few friends who like this game will help a lot. The end game concentrates around getting the best equipment by crafting it (any other way is a huge luck). The problem is that to get the best you will have to achieve a high rank/level in Dark Zone (DZ). For anyone unfamiliar with the game, this is where all the players can go all out VS high difficulty NPCs and… other players. To get the rank you will have to kill a lot of NPCs or other players. This is when this game goes down the drain. Let me explain. Due to some early dev mistakes and some exploits there are a LOT of payers who managed to max out their characters and now they are hanging at the DZ waiting for ’beginners’ to join the cemetery. I like the game a lot but I simply can’t play any longer. The matchmaking systems which works pretty well became pointless as now the team of 2 rogue (PKs) players can easily take down a team of 4. Some time back some no-lifes complained that ‘rogue’ system is too punishing so the devs changed it. Now the system is way too punishing for casual players. Due to the whole setup it is not possible to teleport within the Dark Zone, so yesterday I was stuck at the safe house for 20 minutes as Rogue were camping and killing everyone… I wasn’t even able to leave and roam around the safe-zone due to lack of teleport within the DZ. What can I say… another lovely evening… another Tibia flashback. Oh… I almost forgot… be prepared for microphone abuse… the cherry on the top is when some ‘no-life’ go wild on the mic after they kill you.

If you want to buy this game, wait. The devs need to figure out what they actually want to do, at the moment it looks like a f*fest for all Pks (rogue agents).

It got a way better looting system, farm, wider range of weapon of choice. They alimented the PvP element, but did a good fine job with cooperate

The only good thing is it is very popularized game at the moment

    Pro:
Very populated game for at least 2-3 months

Good Coop system (but not the actual play, Army of Two by EA is a way better 3rd Person shooter.)

a must for Any mmorpg players (Destiny, Diablo)

    Cons:
Only few missions, you could finish all of it on 1st night.

fooling graphic (we know the E3 demo)

    Too repetitive.

Little Variety of Enemies So Far

Worst PvP system I've ever seen (You will never get a fair fight in DZ)

The Division is a third person shooter action-MMO. The premise of the game is that someone has released an engineered supervirus in New York City. You are a member of The Division, a top-secret organization of sleeper agents who are activated to help bring order to the city.

And here we already run into our first issue – why? Why are we sleeper agents, and not just ordinary citizens who have decided to help? Because we’re super badasses and they wanted to justify that? How would random schmucks who spend most of their time doing other things all be super badasses?

    Whatever.

The point is, you are going into New York City and establishing order by killing rioters, looters, sanitation workers, criminals, and private military company folks who are all trying to take over the city. And yes, the sanitation workers thing is not a joke; they walk around with flamethrowers on their backs trying to clean things up.

Alas, despite this pretend-variety, in reality, most enemies fight pretty similarly – there’s some difference with the sanitation workers (the cleaners) because of their flamethrowers, but otherwise the factions are largely interchangeable, save for the fact that the PMC faction has medics.

The enemies are mostly pretty samey. There’s a handful of special enemy types, but they are basically ordinary enemies with some added ability, save for the snipers, who just attack you at long range. The only real exceptions are some “unique” enemies, who are anything but unique but which have more health and sometimes play a bit more differently, with a couple of big, heavy characters and one who carries around a shield to block your attacks with.

Sadly, this “variety” is pretty minimal compared to the gameplay length, and by the end of it, you will have fought all of these enemies to the point where it becomes rote.

The Division is a new kind of MMO – a primarily single-player experience wherein you will never encounter another player in most of the game area due to almost the entire world being an instanced area for the player alone. You can play with other people at will, but you can also play it as a single-player experience, and frankly, it works just fine as one and doesn’t feel like it gets much added to it from multiplayer. That being said, that’s not really a good or bad thing – it is about the same quality either way, and unfortunately, that quality is rather low.

The real problem is the sameiness. The game is ultimately just a cycle of you going out and killing enemies to get better loot. The dungeons are just a series of battles with enemies which are, frankly, mostly interchangeable with battles you get into wandering around the city streets, save that sometimes there are reinforcements which join the battles. The quests, too, basically follow the same mold, and ultimately the game consists of “defend a location while enemies attack you in waves” and “attack enemies who are defending a location”. Basically the whole game follows this, and there is very little variety – what little variety there is mostly a function of the particular environment, and even there, there are a number of copy-pasted environments, including a sewer fight that I think I had five separate times.

The story is pretty bland – in theory, it is a neat idea, but in practice, you just don’t have any link to any of the characters (being a mute protagonist) and they’re all fairly generic. None of them are terribly voice-acted or get terrible lines, they’re just bland and lack any real depth. As such, there’s no reason to care about their plight. The civilians are all interchangeable, and there’s just so little to grab onto anywhere in the game.

All in all, this is just not worth your time.

About 12/13 hours in, game has become rather repetitive, PvE driven content is dull, PvP content can either be tough and fast paced or just repeatedly get stomped on. The story tries to deliver a realistic modern apocalypse however the bullet sponge enemies really ruin the atmosphere. Not exactly worth retail value, I personally regret my purchase at launch.

See being an old school gamer, i like full games, with the addition of new content later via add on packs or paid dlc. but what i dont like is a developer locking major expansions behind a pay wall, seperating the player base. this goes against everything that a good game does. Fallout 4 (and i know im gonna get some hate for this) is an example of a good game, they gave us a full story, gave us so much content. and then went on forums and asked the player base what they wanted in the season pass that they sold at launch. see they didnt have an idea of what add ons they would include. so they asked the fans what they want to see. the division just locked three addons behind a paywall so they can get more money from people that play. its a bungie stunt all over again and we are all going to fall for it. then as soon as all of the add ons are out they are going to announce a new "the division" and make us all do it again. ubisoft is a sketchy developer and they do not have my trust as a gamer and as a consumer. they arent as bad as EA but they arent as good as FROM SOFTWARE

I see from the majority of the review that they are written after only a few hours of gameplay, and division is great for the first few hours.. until you start noticing the glaring flaws. Repetitive combat against a lack of unique enemies. Higher levels shows difficulty not through strategy but by presenting bullet sponge mobs. Body collision is a huge issue throughout with a ridiculous cover system that results in the player sitting bored behind a wall playing whack-a-mole with the enemies, hitting whatever steps up from cover. Furthermore mobs hit with a shotgun or a sniper rifle continue to charge, unimpeded by damage they take, not flattering in the slightest. The same forgiveness is not given to players, who when hit with a sniper, shotgun or melee attack are either reduced to 0-10% HP, or staggered unable to recover.

Dark zone is complete **** after grinding for hours to reach lvl 30 to loot chests, a player would expect some sort of reward however the items from the shop are basic and no upgrade, and the chests that were previously locked behind a lvl wall drop low quality items. Accidentally/purposely shooting a fellow player results in a manhunt which are fun, however the risk/reward is not worth it. Surviving a manhunt will see you rewarded with about 2k dark zone credits, a loss will results in a loss of lvl, dark zone keys and about 100k dark zone credits.

The game is flawed, unpolished. Boring and repetitive with cheap and uncreative difficulty walls presented in bullet sponge enemies, or one shot mechanics from terminator style mobs who run through hell and a blaze of bullets to walk into your face and shoot you. Then there is the story if you can call it that.. the missions feel no different between each other and i feel no sense of accomplishment upon beating them. They are boring dull and repetitive, if you want play game for long periods of time, this game is not for you.

Now for combat i do enjoy duck and cover system but it irritates me that it take a clip to the head to kill a thug wearing a baseball cap and hoodie. I know its RPG but it just doesnt work for me a human doesnt survive a clip of an M4 to the head, or when set guy with gas canister on fire and they just brush it off or when you fire a grenade launcher into their face its just stupid.

Then there is free roam, or walking simulator as thats all i seem to do, walk around doing boring side quests for reasons i still don't know.

I think if Ihadn't played destiny id have appreciated this game more but Destiny bored me enough and this feels like present day Destiny

The thing that killed it for me though, is that there is too many things going on the screen at once. "Press x here and here or there, press circle here, hold square, here is a really big box for your weapon status info" nothing is subtle. In addition to a lot of user interface features that seem like an afterthought.

    A really shallow game.

the game is based in small missions which gives you nothing special. No feeling of going thru a history, no big bosses...
About music, well, there is no music. Just some stupid chat in the radio... and i am drescribing it perfectly with the word "stupid". They are none sense and useless. Just to give you something to listen when walking again and again the corridors that blocked streets of NYC are in this game.

Once again Ubisoft trying to steal your money. They did with mine, i hope you are more clever.

Still waiting for a good game in PS$... sorry...4.

This game is terrible. The game world feels shallow, empty and one dimensional, the mechanics are clunky and the story is boring and uninspiring. Everything just feels so boring in solo play, and such a let down in co-op. Each encounter felt the same after the first few There is no stealth element to the game, just bad cover shooting; nothing else.

Shoot shoot walk, shoot shoot walk, oh look, I died; but this games so bad I just don't care. The AI is stupid, the graphics have taken a massive downgrade from the game footage we've seen over the last 2 years, and the variety in character clothing/attire is generic as everyone seems to be dressed the same.

Ubisoft have failed to deliver on everything they promised with this game. The Division is a repetitive, clunky, boring, cover based MMO shooter if you play with friends; and a really bad cover based shooter with a terrible story, a drab world and monotonous, repetitive, tedious missions if you play solo.

This game is all sizzle no steak, save your money and yourself from this uninteresting, unengaging, tiresome slog of a game. Buy something else, or buy nothing; just don't buy this lest you find out how vast 'the division' between fun and this game truly is.

Absolute garbage game. Reused side content, next to no endgame and boring gameplay. Add on that the incredible amount of bugs and horrible performance on the ps4 and you have a giant turd of a game.

Everyone is comparing this game to Destiny but should really be comparing it to Diablo 3. It's basically Diablo 3 with guns and minus any semblance of creativity or imagination. Maybe that's your thing? If not, too bad because you won't find any here. If you are new to duck and cover shooters, you are going to have a bad time since the tutorial is severely lacking. Maybe that's your thing? If not, too bad because you won't find any here. If you are new to duck and cover shooters, you are going to have a bad time since the tutorial is severely lacking. This game is very stat oriented, to the point that if you don't have blue+ gear, you are going to have a bad time. In fact, you are probably going to be forced to group to finished every mission and every mission is the same.

The game gives the illusion of choice with stacking stats and three different ability trees but there is only one stat that matters, firearms (dps) and one ability (healing) that matters. Everything else is pure garbage compared to these.

Right now there is no end game, except doing daily missions of the same again and again. The Dark Zone is a joke too. It's the same as everywhere else in the game except the enemies are even tankier, and other players can shoot at you. At low levels pvp like this is fun but at high levels the penalties for going 'rogue' take the fun out of it for very long. There are not pure pvp arenas either.

I gave this game a 1 because it managed to run on my PS4 without crashing, which is me being generous. Don't waste your money on this game.

The very definition of mediocrity. Bland mechanics, shooting feels uninspired, missions are mind-numbingly repetitive. An unsuccessful mishmash of tactical shooting, RPG, and MMO; Ubi should have picked one and stuck with it. Wait for this game to drop in price, or borrow from a friend...

Mechanics: Well .. moving in combat is sometimes quiet annoying. You often stuck on some invisible edges or do moves you dont really wanted to. Ok its not me i am talking about, but i here that very often, when i hear some friends in Party.

AI: Very stupid NPCs. I can often shoot 1-2 magz in enemys that try to gesticulate more than once and repeating the same gestic instead of seeking cover.

Bugs: yeah .. they will always be BUT why the heck they didn't fix those from the Beta?? Players get kicked out of combat while they are in a group. Its rarely, but still existing. I couldnt finish 2 Quests for more than 10 Hours. Seemed like there was a missed trigger, but when the mission is: " return to HQ to finish side missions" and the Mission Agent is standing 1m in front of me, but i cant interact .. thats very sad.
I had in the Beta the feeling, that waypoints and waymarker worked better than now. It happens often when i set waypoints that the Path wont show up, even if the destination is more than a mile away.

Longtime Motivation missing. Many people already talked about it, and when i take a close look at the Map i can only say. Its way more smaller than people realize at first sight. There are really nice sightseeings and its beautiful to watch, but when i hear about Players that finish the game within 15 hours .. seriously. I think people would share my point when i say, the size of the Beta was 1/4. I dont include missions in that, because i am talking about the Map size.
I played the Beta and i was like "wow ... that might be small part from that whats coming to us at release".
I am very disappointed right now...

Where is the promised 4rd player THE DRONE?! They cutted the hell out of the game ... not only the HUD, they also kicked out an whole character!!!!

But now less from the negative
What i really appreciate are the game tactics. It makes fun playing tactic and its easy for the group to pull together. What i also like is that every kind of group acts different. That puts the player in a whole new situation that makes him rethink his strategy and harass him to fall back if he has to .. Its a really combat based game.
Well, this is the only i reason why i give only 3/10. The HQ has some nice Features that can be upgraded, but that shouldnt be the main part of the game and i hoped there would be something more, because i just go to the base to craft some items (yeah thats an extra + .. the crafting system) but thats the only thing that makes this game really RPG. There is no RPG if you cant craft.

In this game is much potential that first has to be expanded. Right now the Content is for me like every other Indi game "In nicer graphic"..

Ummm. This game is not great at all. Clunky, sluggish controls. With all the beta time a lot of these bugs should of been squashed before release. Not impressed at all. Luckily got the game for free so I don't feel like I wasted money.

An absolutely terrible game. Not the game they advertised: Massive downgrade - last gen graphics, horrible gun mechanics, cheap sound. Generic in just about every way possible with zero innovation. Biggest fail since Watch Dogs. Nice looking backpacks though.

This game still feels like beta. Minimal character creation.
AI still needs lots of work, for a cover shooter you don't need cover most of the time (boss fights you need cover but you're plagued with bullet sponges.

Although it's better than destiny launch, its going in the same path, with minimal launch content, vague payed DLC.

Basically if you liked destiny at launch its more of that. The game had decent enough shooting but that's basically it. The game lacks depth and once you hit level 30 and get the best gear, there is no reason to continue. It's good for about 1 playthrough of the story then your done, which i personally feel isn't worth it.

The Dark Zone is a love hate relationship but is over ran by a bunch of pubescent teens that like to camp and harass the **** out of you and camp your stuff so you may never get the items you've rightfully earned and drop lots of ranks. It's a shame that this game has so much appeal and the whole idea of a Dark Zone is sweet. But the fact that other players can hear your mic conversations and randomly join in on your party chat with friends to know what your gonna do and talk to back and fourth I really feel Ubigay screwed up on. What part of the game requires strategy but you cant do it because you have 2-3 other dip ****s listening in so they know your next move. I really had high hopes for this game and in one fell swoop it was ruined by a bunch of over geared lvl 13-14 players decked out in legendary gear at 14 to kill other players and all they do is sit together and act all nice then kill you when your trying to load the chopper.. This game is for you if you have no life or only see to it as to bully other players and ruin there experience of the game. Has Ubigay ever heard about Battle Grounds? I think not I think The Dark Zone should be a PVE with harder bosses and etc not a lets see if my team of bullies can kill a team of friends/casual players. So as I will say the missions are very bland The Dark Zone is blunt and needs a lot of improvements. Oh and so you know they whole aspect of RPG shooters turning into a mass pvp game where Level and gear matters is terrible. There is a huge reason why other mmo's have a balancing to there PVP. So I will play my game till its beat but I will get rid of it right after because the experience I've had in the Dark Zone was utter **** Better to stick to Destiny least they did they're research on how to execute a proper MMO.
I hope I don't prevent people from playing this could be gem but if you plan to play solo or with maybe 1 other friend then move on this game is NOT for you. Thank you for reading my review and I hope this helps out in any way.

Since Splinter Cell ubisoft have never got it quite right. The reason for this? They are stuck in a time warp; their games are basically off line type story games. I mean, to throw a grenade (in real time in a gun fight), you have to press the button, get the curser to where you want and press the same button again. After some time we are all quite capable of judging where it will land so let’s just press the button once. The smallest of ledges require a button to jump over. Yes the graphics and scale of the map are great but is this what gets people coming back to play a game again and again. No, it’s gameplay. Tons of people are still playing MW2, and it’s not for the graphics. Look at Rainbow 6 Siege multiplayer, I defy anyone to say that this is quality online gameplay, it’s dreadful. Developers are always seeking to improve things, and rightly so, it just seems that improvements are all about more, more controls, larger maps, more options, more guns (some of which are really the same in this game) etc. COD has not been improved in the slightest for the jumping, running along walls addition, this is just an add on for the sake of change. I played Division last night and when we had to kill the female boss, my friend just stayed way back and shot a few bullets at a time into her as she run back and forth along the balcony bit. Rather like playing MGS a decade ago. All this, of course, is just my opinion; however I think the sayings “bigger is not always better” and “less is sometimes more”, well applies to the modern online games we are seeing. Expand

it's sad to see another instinct where a game does not live up to the Hype. The game is nothing more than a cash grab and a pointless grind. Vanilla Destiny had a better story than this.... The game adds nothing new to the shooter formula let alone to video games at all. All the delays for what? to build more hype? What a shame. DO NOT BUY.

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
