The Division really just should've been called The Dissapointment.

The end product is nothing close to what was shown at E3, in true Ubisoft fashion. The controls (PS4) however are not good. Imagine steering a tanker ship, that just ate Taco Bell on the munchies. That's sorta how then player character feels like.

Anything but the story missions are pathetic repeats. Release hostage, defend thing, get a brown hat as reward. Yellow hat available as DLC for just 300USD and a kidney. Go Ubi!

    Cons:
    - Clothing doesn't offer any defense perks until they release Survival mode.
    - Underground mode is a solid DLC add-on but offers no instruction on the steps to access it.

This is an unbelievably underrated game. It was difficult for me to think of any major flaws. Many people complain about the bullet sponge tendencies but it was never something that bothered me. And remember, it is an RPG after all. This has become one of my favorite games of all time and I really don't care how anyone else feels about it. This game is my ****

Bought the game for sale on the PS4 and let it download for 4 hours, then I get a quick opening montage to let me know there is a viral epidemic and society has collapsed in New York City. I'm one of a group of elite embedded agents in place for just such on occurrence? Quick tutorial on taking cover and shooting, then I'm dumped in a safe house with what looks like other players running around and some npc trying to sell me something and that keeps telling people not to walk away. Ok, quick cut-scene where I"m "another one" then I'm off to do some generic mission. I got to a place where I'm supposed to go to Manhattan, but I can't. There's nothing else to do. Looking at the door to Manhattan I apparently have to wait 16 hours to 'copy files'. Nothing shows up as downloading on my Playstation, are they telling me I have to leave the game open and running for 16 hours?

Anyway, from the 5 or so missions I did get to do, it seems like a less interesting near-future WOW. Get a little dialog if I'm lucky, then run for a hundred yards to get somewhere where I hear 'Warning: Hostiles". Shoot said hostiles and walk up to a glowing box with the medical supplies, food, or whatever (they all look the same). Apparently those were bad guys, but it seems to me they could have just been normal people like anyone else, just trying to survive. So I kill all them and steal their food or medical supplies to give it to someone "who needs it more". Only I don't even get to do that, I just get a "mission complete" and some xp.

The trailer and reviews led me to believe this would be a deep and interesting RPG with a story where I get to be a hero and make a difference. What I got was a basic cover shoot-em-up with "bad-guys" that might not really be bad, but eat bullets like it's their last meal and keep coming. Oh, and I get to use my "UPlay" account which I setup for a Battlefield game years ago and never wanted to have to touch again!

The Division is a pretty fun game with good gun play and the co-op is really fun.

But the problem with it s the fact that it gets boring after 20 hours of game play and the story in not good at all.

    A medium game.

Do you like to play the same 3 strikes over and over in destiny but instead call that "endgame content"? The Division is a very hard to play game. I hate those checkpoints, when you die and have to go back from let's say 0,3 km or more to the place you died and start again to kill lots of lots of cleaners. It's annoying.

Gameplay is your standard 3rd person cover system. There are a decent amount of weapons in game to find and use but there's nothing that really stands out. The world itself is decent. I personally don't know anything about NYC but it looks like they got everything right. The biggest problem is the Dark Zone area. Basically the PVP area that you're forced to play to do and get anything in the end game. It's very tough, very demanding, and makes me want to stay away but I know I can't without getting the best gear. However it's Ubisoft's lack of foresight into what should have been the future of the game that killed it off. The game is basically on life support right now and they just tried to release an update patch to fix alot of the gear issues and things that turned people off from the game. However, with only 1 of the 3 expansions that have been promised being released so far, this game may have already had it's eulogy written by that awful Dark Zone decision.
It's a decent game but could never have lived up to the hype. I personally enjoyed it but only to an extent. I won't buy the first xpac that game out and I certainly won't buy any further xpacs that come out in the future.

    Pros:
+ Incredible details not just on the graphics, but on the sound. It has a dynamic night/day cycle, and even climate cycle.
+ Details to the minimum. You can hear the echo that makes a dog and a pigeon when flying on a snowy street, people fighting over food, dogs pissing and living their day, baggage bags stacked on the corridors of abbandoned buildings, and one thing that personally liked a lot that got me immersed, when doing sidequests i got into this IT building, and saw at guy desk, a picture of his wife and daughters at Paris.
+ Fun campaign and story, the one that you go completing by getting the audios, drones, and stuff arround the map.
+ Fun gameplay. You can craft, fight, personalize your character and gear.
    + Lots of loot.
+ After completing the campaign (30+hrs). you still have tons of fun on the Dark Zone wich has its own mechanics).
+ A game that can be played Solo or with a Group of friends.

    Cons:

    - UI could do some improvements. (Wich are coming on the 1.4 patch).
    - Unbalance on the Dark Zone. (Also coming on the patch).
    - Some secondary misions can get repetitive.
    - Had some crashes during the game that got me restarting the game.

In general terms is a very solid game made by ubisoft, got me immersed all the weekend playing and doing all the sidemissions and stuff. Tagging along with some random guys to try some difficulty missions and discovering the ruined city by myself. Watching my steps because you never know how powerfull some enemies arround the corner may be. And apreciating every detail that the developers did put on the game. 9/10.

The overall feeling of the game is that it's a strong foundation for something really solid, but knowing Ubisoft, that won't happen. I'd compare this to Destiny at launch and even the months after. The visuals are seriously solid for the current gen. The game looks great. The shooting and cover mechanics are simple, but smooth and appropriate for this game.

However, there's not really anything to do. Sure, there are tons of side missions, but they're all just the same 3-4 grind missions you find in a typical RPG. None really have any soul to them that make the city feel like a living, breathing environment. The main missions and characters are pretty underwhelming. Nothing stands out about them. If you're looking for any explanation of what's going on in the plot, don't look for it. You'll be disappointed.

The DZ is also broken, with higher level players stomping all over lower level players with near infinite health bars and impossibly overpowered weapons. Also, this is some of the worst character customization I've ever seen in a game that calls itself an RPG. It's not a huge deal, but the clothing options mostly feel the same.

Overall, I don't think this game deserves the hate or praise it gets. It's a very average game overall with a lot of disappointment and broken promises, but still some fun to be had.

The Division taught me a very valuable lesson about gaming; a game that has a definitive end (like a song, a movie, or a book) will leave me wanting more and reflecting with happy memories of a great experience. But a life-sucking POS like The Division or Destiny eventually wither into resentment.

The game starts off in a promising way. Virus - tick, good graphics - tick, lots of weapons and kit - tick. Unfortunately it then starts to reveal it's true colors.

Grinding and bullet sponges, that pretty much sums up the game. The game doesn't scale up in difficulty, the enemies just morph into super armored bullet sponges. You'll be making multiple trips to ammo crates just to take down a single high-level enemy (this is even worse in the Dark zone, where ammo crates are non-existent). In order to stand any chance against the impervious foes you'll be grinding for XP and dosh, but then you'll max out at level 30 when the progression system throws another curve ball. Your rating now depends on the level of your gear (which often doesn't equate to its usefulness), so you'll need to equip sub-standard gear sets just to get a decent gear score!

You'll now be a millionaire but all that cash won't buy you d***. Instead you'll now be grinding for Phoenix credits, which are rationed like pitiful pocket money, to buy any better kit. You'll be replaying missions over and over again just to get these precious coins. Oh and the much heralded incursions have the most boring design you could possibly imagine - They're just large open areas with swarms of yet-more bullet sponges.

And then there's the "Dark Zone". This could have been the big fun part of the game but it's actually more boring than replaying missions. More bullet sponges and the added "excitement" of any other player turning rogue and taking you out at any moment - genius. Oh and you loose XP for bleeding out, and can't revive yourself without a long walk from the nearest respawn point - Yawn.

Let's just throw a few more logs on the fire:

    - A pointless animation when you open an ammo crate that means a queue forms when you're in a multiplayer mission. WTF?
    - An impenetrable skills system that makes no sense, and little difference to your performance.
    - Other online players appearing in safe houses but nowhere else. Why?
    - Too many objects you can hide behind but can't shoot from.
    - A kit system that favors armor over firepower.
    - The inability to fast travel to side missions so that you use up your ammo tackling random mooks before you get there.

It's a firm 5/10 which means i'm still playing it, until something better comes along, but it's no AAA title. More like a C-

We picked through what remained, spared the other players who strayed into our lines of sight and made to the extraction with a really nice haul. We bated our time and waited for the helicopter to fly in and drop our only means of securing our new toys. I waited for the clock to drop and then I stroke. Kicking the only member of our squad that we had picked up at random and robbing his carcass of anything he worked hard to collect. We divided it up, extracted, and then went our separate ways. It still feels like I left some small part of my soul back there, on the snow covered LZ where myself and two friends led our new buddy to the slaughter after spending an hour fattening him up loot.

So I put it on youtube with some funny sound effects to make myself feel better, and we went about repeating the process.

The experience I had up until I reached level 30 was, no doubt, spectacular. The graphics, the gameplay and the great sense of progression always kept me playing the game. But once you reach level 30 the majority of the game's problems start to shine. It's unfair to say that though, as Ubisoft have released many updates in response to fans' requests, and personally I think they've done a great job. They've added new content to the Dark Zone, new weapons, new gear sets, a new score system and plenty of minor improvements.

And then you hit level 30.

So now in order to accomplish anything you must venture into the Dark Zone to get better gear. Be prepared. You will run into a steady stream of higher leveled, better geared players that will kill you without a second thought. Not for your paltry drops, but for your currency and for **** and giggles. The best part? When you get jumped and killed by another player YOU lose XP, money, keys, and any items you might have gotten.

In essence Massive/Ubisoft has gone out of their way to make a game that actually rewards people being online bullies. It's not uncommon to walk out of the DZ after a few hours and have less XP than when you started and absolutely nothing to show for your time there.

That's part of the problem. The major issue is with Massive itself. This crew of developers has no clue what they want to do with this game. The only thing they have consistently done is ignore their user base.

Things are regularly nerfed without any prior notice. The game is FILLED with glitches that can be exploited to your advantage. In order to get anything of note accomplished in game, you need a group.

The graphics are bland and have an amazing bluish hue at all times. NPC's have maybe 6 skins between each faction. So there isn't much variety.

Hopefully if you purchased the game you weren't stupid like I was and bought the season pass. This "season pass" is an absolute joke. Your reward for spending the extra money? 5 crafting materials a month for the first three months. Just now has Massive implemented bi-monthly "events." These events are nothing more than killing 6 - 8 enemies and getting a supply drop.

If you want a blue print on how to mistreat your customers while taking their money look no further than Massive/Ubisoft.

The game is not fun. Lots of time spent running. After about level five average enemies take about 6 headshots to kill, let alone "elite" enemies. Loot drops are unpredictable and useless. The leveling up and base improvement systems appear to give you lots of freedom, but ultimately you just unlock everything and choose between three special powers. Story missions can take up to an hour and may devolve into you waiting in cover with your cursor in one place, waiting for the enemy to pop up, shooting him, taking enough bullets to almost kill you, and retreating to heal. God help you if you join up with another player who is a dumbass and keeps getting himself killed, because once he dies, the game will leave you alone and stick you with multiplayer enhanced difficulty. Auxiliary missions, required to upgrade your base, are painfully repetitive and unrewarding. The character attributes aren't well explained, so item equipping is sometimes a total crapshoot. The PvP aspects of the "dark zone" are a total mess but are capable of providing some fun.

Perhaps most irritating is the game's online requirement. You encounter chilling moments where you shoot enemies endlessly and their health does not go down, they will stand still as you move around, and you suddenly realize you're in the middle of a lag. When the game finally comes through, anything could have happened. That is, if the game doesn't just crash and send you back to login.

Despite all of these complaints, you will keep going back to the Division. Something about a shooter RPG with MMO elements will tickle your gamer scrot and you will want to play. I hope you have a good internet connection.

It is, however, still fun if you play it with your friends, however, there are better alternatives out there. Rather spend your money on Destiny or Overwatch. I think even Warframe is a better experience.

The feedback of the story is good, but does not develop .
The gameplay is good , but the aim is heavy and with little accuracy. Physical is good to a certain extent . HP 's character and enimies are based on Level .

    They killed you. Gameplay.
And maybe, maybe you will kill them in next time.

It is very... very... repetitive. The Story was okay, and I was a little upset when I collected all collectible items, only to just get jackets as a reward. The PVP area just feels... frustrating at times. I can't say that I haven't had fun going Rogue in the Dark Zone, but I also can't say I am having an absolute blast. So after the campaign, this is what you'll do... Loot items, shoot an enemy, loot items, shoot the same enemies, loot items, run, extract, run, shoot the same enemies, loot, run, extract, run, shoot the same enemies.... OVER AND OVER AND OVER.... it get's a little mind numbing.

The PVP area can be fun, if you aren't put at a large disadvantage via numbers game or someone rigging their gear score to stay in a lower tier. if you come across someone who does rig their gear score, then you are NOT going to have a good time. You'll just die... and die... and die... and get loot... then die... I don't really get that mentality. To rig your gear score, you'd be doing the equivalent of pushing empty water bottles over... it'd be too easy. I don't see the fun in that. If your gear score is greater than another player, you will most likely kill them pretty quickly... you'll grab their gear... extract it.. then rinse and repeat...

I know my review seems repetitive, but that is what the game is. Initially you'll have a blast, then it will fade a little after you beat the campaign. Is it worth playing.... yes... Is it worth $60+.... NO! I'd suggest to wait until it goes on sale via PSN. By then the map packs will be out, and it might be worth a buy. Until then, I'd find something else a little more personally rewarding. I hope this helps.

I haven't regretted buying a game more than I regret buying The Division. I knew it was going to just be a filler game for me but I haven't wanted to see a game to fail as badly as I want to see The Division fail. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay and story were fine (if uninspired and didn't feel particularly rewarding killing anything) up through level 30 but it promotes the most immoral, immature play in the Dark Zone and the constant accusations of "being a weak player" from the horrible community that surrounds the game doesn't help. It's a shame that the community is such a negative one but the design of the game encourages that attitude.

The dark zone could be an exercise in tactics but it's largely just a cesspool of high level players killing new players at the entrance gates or extraction zones; not for gear but to hinder the other players. The general DZ community (which is the only community left) thrives on making the other players' time worthless and they consider that "fun". You see "manhunt" videos on youtube with players just killing whoever seeing how long they can go. Sure they're interesting to watch but putting yourself in the victims' shoes, they could've just gotten a drop they actually wanted just to have it taken from them for some nobody making a youtube video no one will watch. Outside of the terrible DZ community, the DZ is really just an area you run around collecting boxes of division tech which allows you to craft the highest tier of weapon or armor but the catch is you have to buy blueprints from DZ vendors with a separate DZ currency and DZ rank requirement (Don't worry about currency though. You'll have about 50 times what you need by the time you reach the rank you have to be). The only things worth crafting are somewhere around rank 50+ which is several hundred hours of DZ play with minimal backwards progress whenever you die. That sums up end game. Collecting boxes of crafting materials to craft weapons that have Destiny ratios of bad perks to good perks in the hopes that once you finally get all the requirements to make your weapon (or armor) you get to roll the dice with now hundreds of hours of work and that's if you know what perks you want and can utilize based on your other gear. Then, you don't have any content to use your new perfectly crafted gear (because you somehow didn't get shafted 500 times in a row) so you go back to collecting boxes of materials now for no good reason. That's it. Box collecting. You don't even shoot at enemies anymore because they can't give you anything you want. the only reason to shoot an enemy is because it's in the way to your next box.

The incursions are no more than challenging story missions that have the same reward to time invested problem the rest of the game has. Everything in "end-game" pve has so much health that it doesn't actually matter what weapons you use since you'll run out of ammo in the first room... for every weapon you have. The difficulty scales with the number of people in the squad so don't worry, all your friends don't have any ammo after the first room either. It gets better if everyone is geared properly but they're still a slog for a drop that isn't going to be worth it. You might as well be visiting your favorite boxes of materials.

Unless you can dedicate hundreds of hours to grinding gear, holding square to collect boxes of materials, don't mind wasting tons of your free time to someone who, on a whim, kills you and takes any progress you might have made in the past hour or so, and have thick enough skin to not get mad at 80% of the playerbase **** you, you're never going to get or stay up to date or be able to do or craft anything worthwhile (and that's if content that fits that description is created as it doesn't exist at this time). There's nothing to do in this game once you arrive at end-game. Save your money. Borrow it from someone, watch a playthrough of the story on youtube or twitch or wait for a really good sale and don't get your hopes up for anything worth doing after you finish the story. Almost any game is better than The Division in its current state and PS4 doesn't even have all the hacking issues PC has.

All my friends from Destiny were trying this game and I also enjoyed the idea of a Dark Zone as well as the challenging challenge mode, which had me playing this for a good few weeks.

Then the incursion 'Falcon Lost' came along, it was designed to challenge Destiny's acclaimed Raid where a fire-team collectively worked to overcome a challenge. Going over where it succeeded - the matchmaking which allowed individual players to find a team. Where it failed- everything else, mere days after Falcon Lost launched, players discovered bugs that let players cheese the incursion for the high end reward, honest players ended up falling behind due to this.

Ubisoft then fixed this bug, then there were two more, fix those two and there are four more, you get the picture. Then Ubisoft decided to punish players for exploiting bugs that they didn't address properly by issuing bans/ restrictions - only problem, they have not fixed this mess of a game yet.

At this point, the best best for my friends who have bought the game + season pass is to wait till the paid expansions come out, and to hope for better. When the game came out, I was all excited and dished out money for a season pass, The Division has taught me to actually wait for some time after playing the game to see if you want the season pass - right now, it is one of my most regrettable purchases. 5/10.

Too bad that's all the actual story you get. A vague concept of gathering power, security, and medical supplies, to upgrade your home base that somehow also increases your individual combat ability, giving you perks and various abilities. The combat is actually very fun. If you can look past the fact that it takes a ridiculous amount of bullets to the head to kill an average enemy and hundreds to kill a boss, the combat is interesting and fun, with a strong emphasis on staying behind cover and waiting for the right time to strike. Multiplayer can also be very fun. Grouping together with FRIENDS can lead to some very strategically entertaining battles that make you feel like a badass, but only if you partner with friends. Grouping with random players is only seemed to me, to make the game massively unenjoyable. Enemy difficulty is ramped up and health is drastically increased, and with random players, there is little to no cooperation and a lot of deaths. Getting to level 30 for me was not entirely a drag, I frequented the dark zone, which is fun in small bursts for me, but too much drove me insane. all in all the game is slightly above average, but not what I'd expect from a game I've been waiting for for 3 years Expand

The culture in this game is really really bad, people tend to shoot you in the back a lot and if you don't have a group you can get rocked on over and over and over. The gap in gear is crazy, you can just twink out a level 14 and walk around one and two shotting all the newbies. I even caught myself laughing at a few low levels getting plowed down by me and my friends. But after much thought it just turns people into arses.

Also the bugs in this game are horrible, you will be fighting someone and then they glitch through the wall to where they can shoot out but you can't shot in along with a whole bunch of other glitches. I gave them time to fix the game but I have minimal hope for the longevity of this one.

This adds a lot of customization to the game and the weapons. The clothing customization definitely should've been better, but at least it was there. The plot, the main story, was lacluster to say the least. You don't get attached to any characters, or get engaged in the plot or anything. Although, I didn't really expect an amazing story from The Division. Although, the actual missions are structured extremely well. The main missions are very fun, because of the gameplay and structure of the mission. As an RPG, I expected a better character creator at the beginning, I was let down though. It's not a huge deal but it should've been better. A lot of people compare The Division to Destiny. I'm going to do that in the sense that, at launch, The Division is good, just like Destiny was good at launch. This game is fun, but would be better if the there was something different to keep you wanting to play the game. I am going to hope that there will be a Destiny like experience where the game gets way better with every DLC update. Time will tell. But for now, I am bored with it.

The single player story line was unique and well written. Then you stop playing it and the game becomes horrible mess of glitches and bugs and grievers. It's not worth the money. Ubisoft pretty much released a game that we (the buyer) are now beta testing it for them. It's going to take months for them to fix it. Save y our money and buy another game.

Lost to factions and gangs, the government sends in Division Agents to reclaim the city. The Division is a third person shooter with a mix of RPG and MMO elements. Your character runs around the city completing missions, side quests and encounters to secure zones throughout the city. However this game is riddled with problems. Firstly, the story to the game is not presented well, the side missions are repetitive and provide nothing but your time The missions are too easy and the Dark Zone (the games PVP) is ridiculously boring and and filled with cheap tactics, glitches and cheats.

To excel in PVP you gear means everything. In a game where gear specs are completely random this can be quite frustrating as luck plays more of a factor than skill in being a unstoppable force in the Dark Zone. The shotgun NPC's are overpowered and over accurate, the gear drops are so randomized it is extremely frustrating as your search for the best in slot gear. A lot of the games abilities and talents are broken or glitched. The loading times are unbearable. With the exception of the Dark Zone area, you never once encounter another player running around the city unless in a party, making the city a very bleak underpopulated world.

This game has potential, but very problematic. The developers are new to this genre of games and vast issues the game faces shows it. On a positive note the graphics are very appealing. But we all know graphics aren't what make a game great.

Overall this is a mediocre game. Maybe The Division will improve in the future, but in the meantime it is a game to get if you literally have nothing better to do. For the trophy hunters, getting the platinum trophy is extremely easy, however there are grinding elements especially with the collection of collectibles throughout the game world. The PVP trophies are simple especially if you have a friend to kill trade.

This review is based on my experiences after playing the game daily since march and it's worth mentioning my review depends much on the end game, which in all fairness should be included in the summed up version of any review.

In its current state The Division is not a solid game. It lacks most of the things I am looking for in a game, such as a story that's alive and gets you hooked up on "what is going to happen next" and "oh, that's some interesting turn around". I mean, the back story of the game is really intriguing but there's no actual follow up on the post apocalyptic, dystopian story in the game and you never really get any feeling of being in this chaos except from the fact that New York are all abandoned after the pandemic spred via dollar bills during black friday. (How many people actually pays with bills anymore?). According to the size of the map the dev's could've done so much more. Instead the game concentrates on Dark Zone, which is approximately 1/5 of the map. Everything outside is dead. There's no reason going around free roaming after you've done the side missions that don't reward you more than some new specs and perks from the Base of Operations. It also lacks interesting characters, such as rememberable enemies, allies and/or missions. Your own character is just like everybody else.

The loot are not rewarding and nor is the crafting system. All of it reminds me of climbing a mountain that just grows larger and larger. Of all you manage to achieve there's always something new that you need to do before you get what you're looking for. Some gamers may like this type of gaming but most of the other RPG games out there are more rewarding. The Division is like a wank without any pay off.

But the game has a lot of potential. I really enjoyed when I met some bosses walking around outside Dark Zone. More of that! Give the map outside Dark Zone some life. There's tons of interesting places and appartments, parking lots and construction sites where they can make something happen.

And speaking of Dark Zone. I've heard much about the Dark Zone and mostly it's pretty negative things like the loot suck and there's a lot of griefing in there that go rogue on you etc. But when I look at Dark Zone it reminds me of the time when it was snow outside and you walked to school and you knew it will be a snowball fight on the football pitch during the breaks. Anyone entering the pitch knew about the rules. You get some and you loose some - you consent to the rules. Don't think you can go in and just mangle down anyone without reprisals. And if you get mangled down you don't go running to the teacher with tears in your eyes and pointing down the pitch and say there's a quartet of griefers that threw snow in your face. Take the Dark Zone for what it is. The loot could've been better though. For even with a Scavenging over a 100% there's only slim chances that you get rewarded with any decent loot.

There's two types of gameplays I hate: anything where time is ticking down and the other one is waves. It's not very refreshing, it's not very pioneering and it's just boring. The new Incursion Falcon Lost are a wave based game mode and it's a challenge. The worst thing with this is that you only get rewards once a week. However you can collect two rewards after complete both the Hard mode and the Challenging mode.
These modes have a recommended gear score level at 140 for Hard and 160 for Challenging. But after the first week gamers already glitched their way to top gear score even though they didn't complete the mission the regular way. This lead to heavy problems since the glitched out mega super players with high gear score tried to matchmake players with higher gear scores so they should have a chance of beating the level the normal way. So if you had a gear score of 150 you got kicked out. I can honestly say that the best players I've played with have had gear scores around 150 and not 210+. Luckily this issue have been fixed. But there's still too many issues of matchmaking in the game. I don't know how many times I experienced missions that don't load and you get to load another one, and another one, and another one.

The game is broken in so many areas. PC gamers have serious issues with hackers and all of the platforms (Xbox, PS4 and PC) suffer from all the players that cheat through missions with all of the glitches. Massive and Ubisoft have however tried to sort things out, but there's only more glitches coming.
I've been playing it daily since march 15 and now time has taking its toll. My final judgement regarding this game is that it is not a complete game in its current state. However, I hope that Massive and Ubisoft listens to the critics and make it better. More things to do outside Dark Zone, refine the loot and crafting system and makes sure to address the other issues regarding cheating players and hackers.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time Ubisoft comes out with a so so game...

We are told that this is a Tactical RPG, but this really didn't feel much different than, say, SWTOR...but then that'd be an insult to SWTOR because at least there is gameplay that is fun there. The missions are simple: either go fetch or save some schmuck that couldn't save themselves from a wet paper bag with a flashlight and a map. Ad nauseum! Boss fights? Yeah, find the weak spot(s) and shoot. I was bored less when I was doing this in GTA V.

Oh, and I hope you micromanaged your gear, or you're screwed! Don't even get me started on the worthless attire you can pick up...

Glitches and exploits! Get your glitches and exploits here! It's glitch and exploit heaven in this game, and Ubisoft hasn't done jack **** to fix them. Ooooh, they'll ban you if you're caught using exploits in Falcon Lost...how about the other BAZILLION other glitches and exploits that I can find numerous videos on YouTube on inside of 10 seconds??? For every one Ubisoft supposedly fixes, fifteen more pop up immediately.

Dark Zone is pointless for new players as the rewards system was nerfed (along with other things) with the update that brought us Falcon Lost. Unless you were playing from Day 1 and have either done the grind legitimately or have used exploits to rank way up, you'd want to avoid this at all costs (and it's a toss-up even with a party of four if they are higher rank).

Boy did I get fooled when I played the "beta". I was stupid enough to buy the Gold Edition...now I have buyer's remorse. I give it a one only because of the three minutes of fun I had with this game.

Avoid this game like The Clap!

    1. Game crashes / fails to start constantly making Co-Op missions hugely problematic, and just starting the game can be a challenge.
    2. There are a huge amount of glitches in the game, creating abuses, areas you can get stuck in, and lots of situations where the game **** you over with glitches, making for a frustrating experience.
    3. Dark Zone, an integral part of farming gear for the end-game is basically a ganking paradise where griefers and trolls outnumber normal players, making it near impossible to get play in this zone without these people ruining you experience. Even worse is the "Rogue" system is so onesided, that it is usually abused by griefers instead, keeping them free to gank you to hell, without being punished or targeted. A horrible, horrible system.
    4. Co-op missions have a somewhat solid matchmaking system, only problem is that if a player leaves the group, which they do OFTEN, you have to start the entire mission over, since people cant join mid game.

This is just a short list of the many many frustrating parts of this game. I have to admit that it is strangely addictive, and the story line is fairly interesting. But I have no idea how a AAA title can be this flawed both from a functional point, as well as a gameplay point. I bought the season pass along with the title, and I have to admit that i honestly regret this decision now.

It's recreation of and envisioning of a virus stricken New York is stunning, the streets and alleys filled to the brim with detail. Bodies line the sewers, papers blow throw the air, crashed cars line the streets, storefronts looted by vandals. This game is a stunning vision of a bio-terrorist attack. Even the weather system, which changes all the time, is a stunning achievement. One minute you could be wondering the dark zone in a clear Winter night, and within a matter of minutes you can hardly see through the swirling snow falling from the skies. Having said that ultimately this game, in my opinion, is a failure. It's story seems shallow, its' characters nothing but cookie cutter characters from your typical Hollywood film. Throughout the game I found myself wondering why bother saving these people, I don't even know enough about them besides their names and the fact that one's paranoid, another's a typical good cop, and another is an abrasive doctor. Half the time I didn't know who the bad guy was. I mean I knew who he was, but the most information I got about him came from an ECHO at the end of the game. And while the crafting system is decent, everything looks the same, and the perks don't feel game changing enough. Now I believe that also has to do with the fact that there is absolutely no enemy variety in this game. There are guys with flamethrowers, guys with shotguns, guys with baseball bats, guys with turrets, drones, and, and this one only shows up once at the end, a helicopter. These enemies don't allow the weapons to shine, to show you why you should choose this perk over that. Even the incursions, advertised as the Raids of the Division, is just you in a room fighting fifteen waves of enemies, all of them bullet sponges, while an APC one shots you and your team. And that's the essential problem with the Division. There's not nearly enough variety where it matters most. In the environment, sure, but in the story, the enemies, the weapons, even your own characters, they're all the same. They all look the same, sound the same, act the same. So unless you want to play a game that literally is just the same from beginning to end, I do not recommend this game. Besides the Dark Zone (And God I hope you have friends for The Dark Zone cause its troll central without them) this game has nothing new that makes it worth $60. It should have cost me more then $40. The main problem is that while the city of New York is beautiful it feels like nothing more than a big sandbox. The story is there but because it doesn't directly present itself to you it often times feels like background noise to just shooting more targets, and it's not as if the world is interesting enough to want to learn the story anyway like in a game like Bloodborne.

The rushing, baseball bat wielding, shotgun spamming A-holes, and that is what you'll have to deal with in the endgame in the division, unless you wanna try the Dark Zone, witch is and you guessed it, full of more A-holes that just kills you, because they are D1ckh3ads. So right now, if you don't enjoy grinding, it's not a game for you. Expand

In all I have a lot to say about the game both positive and negative so lets cut to the chase.

Pros: After watching so many reviews on the net I had no high expectations of this game what so ever and surprisingly I wasn’t disappointed with it at all. The single player campaign is fun and for anyone interested in the story there are a lot of POIs on the map which will last for hours. Few times I smiled to myself when I played a recording from a mobile phone of some girl stalking back the stalker.

Cons: Price! To get the full value from the game you HAVE to play with others in Dark Zone, therefore few friends who like this game will help a lot. The end game concentrates around getting the best equipment by crafting it (any other way is a huge luck). The problem is that to get the best you will have to achieve a high rank/level in Dark Zone (DZ). For anyone unfamiliar with the game, this is where all the players can go all out VS high difficulty NPCs and… other players. To get the rank you will have to kill a lot of NPCs or other players. This is when this game goes down the drain. Let me explain. Due to some early dev mistakes and some exploits there are a LOT of payers who managed to max out their characters and now they are hanging at the DZ waiting for ’beginners’ to join the cemetery. I like the game a lot but I simply can’t play any longer. The matchmaking systems which works pretty well became pointless as now the team of 2 rogue (PKs) players can easily take down a team of 4. Some time back some no-lifes complained that ‘rogue’ system is too punishing so the devs changed it. Now the system is way too punishing for casual players. Due to the whole setup it is not possible to teleport within the Dark Zone, so yesterday I was stuck at the safe house for 20 minutes as Rogue were camping and killing everyone… I wasn’t even able to leave and roam around the safe-zone due to lack of teleport within the DZ. What can I say… another lovely evening… another Tibia flashback. Oh… I almost forgot… be prepared for microphone abuse… the cherry on the top is when some ‘no-life’ go wild on the mic after they kill you.

If you want to buy this game, wait. The devs need to figure out what they actually want to do, at the moment it looks like a f*fest for all Pks (rogue agents).

There are a ton of game breaking glitches in this game. It is currently in an "alpha" state, but it was released anyways. Ubi knows about the glitches, but took weeks to come out with a patch, and they still have not released it. It is set to release April 12. People have been locked out of this game for weeks with little to no word from ubi. These people also had hard earned gear deleted from their characters. This glitch was apparently cause by crafting a backpack (so they clearly did not test their game very well).

All in all, this is still a beta game at best.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story:
The division have a nice background story and a well created open world environment that reflect the post-apocalypse NYC. The story about the outbreak and what happened to the first wave agents are excellent and worth spending time to discover the pieces. However, the story progress through the main story missions is mediocre. There is no choice or option for the player to pick, and no moral engagement of player’s action. When you progress through the story and side missions, the only influence you make is limited to the base of operation and the dialogue of several NPCs. After all you have done, what you see during the free roam is mostly the same. While in the 2014 E3 trailer the agents restrained to open fire; and the 2015 E3 trailer it emphasized that the divisions as the last resort to save what remain, the actual gameplay ended up encourage you to fire chips over chips of bullets into enemies’ head. Not only because the enemies take quite a lot of hit to die, also because every single story mission ended up asking you to eliminate every single enemy on sight. This setting seems to contradict the very original idea of the game.

    Gameplay:
Despite the story settings, the gameplay of the first story play through is fun and enjoyable. The hard mode is probably the best part of the game, that you would need to utilize your skills and talents as your advantage… until you and your teammates become overgeared and steamroll it.
For the end-game, there are four challenge mode missions. The challenge mode basically multiplies the armor and firepower of the enemies and give some enemies skills to counter/resist the stun locks. As long as your team know how to deal with the “rushers”, the rest of the mission is not that difficult. If your team is under geared, you would likely end up in a 1-2 hours tedious long fight.
Dark Zone is one of the highlighted elements of the game. However, it struggles between the PvE and PvP gameplay. As for PvE, the dark zone area is not particularly big, that most groups will cycle though several of the easier enemy strongholds and loot spots, meaning that every time you enter the dark zone for PvE, you are mostly doing the same things as the last time you enter. As for PvP, it comes other problems. Firstly, as this is not a tactical shooter, and weight heavily on gears, the PvP is not likely a fair fight (until everyone in the dark zone obtained the top tier gears). Secondly, the NPC enemies become annoying obstacles, even you want to focus on PvP, you would need to clear the NPC enemies in the area first to prevent them interrupt you during the PvP.

    Others:
The weather effects in game is visually impressive; however, it does not change much of the gameplay. For example, the snow storm would block your sights, but does not affect the NPC’s)
There are quite a lot of game crashing bugs, and the loading time is quite long. (1 mark is deducted from this)

TL,DR: Nice background story and open world environment; mediocre main game story; fun and enjoyable before end-game; not so enjoyable end-game

Played this all the way to 30 and DZ rank 40. The game is full of bugs that should have been picked up in beta or QA testing, menu glitches, crashes, item bag glitches, falling through the world, and more are all common place. PvP is a free for all and all the best PvE gear is locked behind it, the game is a griefers paradise. Do Not Buy This game.

Although there are many interesting elements, and the co-op / pvp in the deathzone can be really funny and "new" as a concept, the game is really - REALLY - repetitive, in a boring way.

This is gonna become even worse when you think that every new addition to make the gameplay just a little more enjoyable is gonna be payed as a DLC.
If you wanna waste time with friends, this game could be a cool thing, otherwise just don't buy it.

It won't win converts to the genre and the plot is problematic, but The Division is a handsome open-world offering, spiked with treachery. [May 2016, p.81]

That's the essential nature, and essential problem, of The Division's underlying structure. It's asking you to hunt gear with no tangible reward in terms of what you can do, how you do it, or what you look like doing it. [May 2016, p.108]

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
