That isn't good game, but not bad either. Story is pretty linear, game is short, but fights are challenging and fun. Bending could use more combo's. Some "Naga-running" sequences are way too hard.

I am a huge Korra fan. If you are too? Buy this game. It definitely is really hard, extremely repetative, and kinda sucks but the bending is spot on and the game has its moments. This game is really only for the hardcore fans that truely love the amazing piece of art that is the show Korra. Besides for that? The game pretty much sucks except for the bending. The games new so I need to give it some more time before being certain about my opinions here but first impression is that its a pretty flawed game, but still probably a good time to lok fans. The controllers feel a bit wonky from time to time and there's odd camera screw ups I've run into There's still certainly some fun to be had here though.

Even for hardcore fans of show the game has little to offer outside of it's combat system. It can be quite fun to button mash your way through waves of identical enemies with Korra's powers. It can be quite fun to button mash your way through waves of identical enemies with Korra's powers. However irritating segments rear their ugly heads far too often, and the real fun only begins on your second playthrough after you've unlocked all of your powers. As a result PlatinumGames Korra can be pretty entertaining, but ultimately lackluster.

Fans hoping for a great original story are going to be disappointed as the game doesn't really have one at all. Those gorgeous cutscenes made to look exactly like the show don't really have much going on in them. They basically just tell you that Korra has her bending powers stolen by some guy and that she has to get them back. That's a set up, not a real plot. Unfortunately that's really all the game has in this department. At least the voice actors from the show are present.

The in-game graphics are just as gorgeous as the animated cutscenes. It really is a pretty game to look at. The soundtrack is also pretty great, with melodies being pulled straight from the show. As far as fanservice in the presentation goes, it all looks and sounds really good. There just isn't much substance backing it up.

The gameplay fares a bit better. This is PlatinumGames after all, so the combat system is quite solid. They also did a good job of making each power feel worthwhile in any given situation. However they couldn't quite nail the combat encounters. Fights can range from entertaining, but dull to straight up frustrating. The game's attempts at boss battles are pretty poor in a lackluster sort of way.

Platinum threw in some infinite-runner like sections to mix things up. They are brief and turned out better than one might expect. However they aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea. Especially in one poorly thought out segment where they tried to include combat. It stands out as one of the game's more tedious moments.

Replaying the game again with all of your powers unlocked and having them fairly leveled up is much more entertaining. You have more variety in your approach and more power backing yourself up. It still doesn't overcome the occasionally poorly designed encounters, but it at least allows you to see all the game has to offer and unlock everything. After you finish the pretty brief campaign there is the Pro-Bending mode that unlocks. It's just like it is on the show and is pretty entertaining as well. However it's about on the same level as the main game.

PlatinumGames has delivered another solid combat system. However this time it's screaming out to be put in a better game. It's a hollow bit of fanservice for followers of the show and an uneven action game. As a result it's a decent, but unsatisfying action game that feels a tad overpriced. It still provides moments of fun, but it's not hard to wish you were playing bigger, better action games over the course of it's eight level run. It certainly doesn't live up to Platinum's more legendary and celebrated titles and falls short in just about every category. There are plenty of worse options out there and fans of the show might still get a kick out of playing as Korra. Just don't expect to be completely satisfied or entirely entertained with Platinum's surprisingly uneven game.

I played this on casual since I don’t play many action games. It wasn’t easy: I had to replay boss battles two or three times, and one section near the end of the game took me nine tries to complete-but I was compelled to keep playing, because although combat isn’t very deep-though it becomes significantly more complex when you unlock all 4 elements-it’s a lot of fun. I plan on replaying the story on normal and extreme mode, so I’m anticipating this game will give me roughly 14 hours, which is well worth the price of admission.

The story isn’t great, but if you’re willing to play Destiny you shouldn’t let a mediocre story stop you from enjoying a fun time. The cutscenes aren’t identical to the show’s style, but they look quite nice and serve as good transitions from one area to the next. Each element has a different flavor-earth is slow and powerful, fire is quick and close, air is best for crowd control, and water is best for distance. Each of the elements’ animations are very well done and stringing together combos involving all four elements is both rewarding and fun to watch. There isn’t a lot of enemy variety, but I don’t consider this such a bad thing-with the exception of mechas, it’s more about timing than strategy, which is fine in a game like this. The running levels with Naga are a good injection of variety.

This game isn’t without flaws, however. As mentioned previously, the story isn’t very good: a one-note villain who mostly pays people to fight for him; the game eventually leads to a disappointing showdown. Levels are generally not very detailed, with the exception of the South Pole, where the snow effects look great. I didn’t find pro-bending entertaining. There are not any sound options or the option to add subtitles to cutscenes. Graphics, while not ugly, are not impressive. Compared to Infamous: First Light (also $15) which boasts story mode, PvE, and free roam in a large world, there isn’t much to do in this game.

This game has its flaws. However, what it does it does well. While it’s not Bayonetta and doesn’t have a lot of content, it does well capturing the feel of bending, and provides a lot of fun. It doesn’t have the storytelling characteristic of the Avatar universe, but it’s a good, fun game with some replayability, and is definitely worth the cost.

It's pretty obvious that this was a budget title which wasn't made by Platinum's A team. For $15 and digital only, it wasn't ever meant to be at the standard of a full retail release. For fans of Platinum, this game is likely worth the money. The gameplay isn't as in depth as most Platinum games, but the influence is still very much there and it makes for a satisfying brawler. This is a true Platinum game in that its "Normal" difficulty is akin Hard in other games. There's a lot to do between maxing medals and completing the pro-bending mode. That being said, the story is probably one of the silliest I've seen. It makes little sense and the writing is just poor. The official voice actors and music accompanies this, but can't make up for the fact that the game would be better off with no story. Expand

This is a interesting one the game is actually really fun and my score of 7 could easily be 8.0 if only the game was longer that is really the only main problem is way to short and some of the mini games can be soul destroying if you don't lucky early on but a generally easy plat hope they make a sequel definitely has potential and was £8 on psn i think so worth a gamble.

    So much wasted potential.
The Legend of Korra is a beat-em-up taking place between seasons 2 and 3. The game has it's own plot to it, so you won't need to watch the show to understand what's going on. But that doesn't stop this game from being filled with casualties. The combat feels empty, and the mechanic of switching between the elements is a pretty cool idea, but you can't combine

The enemies and bosses are all recycled, the camera is worthless, and the amount of difficulty spikes makes this seem rushed. The game has a lot of potential, the combat looks cool and I really liked the naga racing, but the terrible design choices make this game mediocre.

This game really did have a lot of potential but the repetitive gameplay and enemies really hold this game back, their are some good things about this game like the cutscenes and the boss battles but even that isint enough to overlook the repetitive gameplay.

Sure its has many flaws but I had hell of a time with this game, gameplay was very enjoyable and true to the series and I found myself going back to this game just to grind mindlesly quite a few times and lookimg for simillar ones to play after.
Bear in mind that I got it for really cheap (its not worth anything over 20$) I'm a fan of the series and had no expectations (or negative ones

The Legend of Korra doesn’t have the budget of a full retail release and it shows. The levels feel empty, there’s very little variation in enemies, you’ll fight the same ‘boss’ multiple times, and everything just feels scaled down.

Sure, Platinum has made flawed games before, but nothing nearly so bland or as uninspiring as this. [Christmas 2014, p.120]
