    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WHY NAUGHTY DOG WHY!?!?! You HAD yourself the perfect setup. WHY?!?! Shock value?!?!?! Using Joel's death as a PLOT DEVICE to "motivate" Ellie for revenge?!!!?!?! You literally had every option open to you so "genius" Bruckmann says "Hey! Let's kill Joel! The players will LOVE IT!"

    This REEKS of idiocy that panders to the most simple minded individual and tries to pass itself off as "thought provoking" and "intellectually stimulating."

    Then to flip the script and be stuck as someone that just killed off one of the most cherished characters for the first game, with not even the illusion of choice at the end is INSULTING.

    People whining about "well you didn't play past ______ so you're opinion and review shouldn't count!" Tell you what? I have this carton of milk here. It may or may not have been sitting out for an entire week. But you can't have an opinion about it until you finish the entire carton. And you can't smell it. And regardless of how it tastes, you MUST finish it before I care about your opinion." You honestly think every single person that hated on this game in the first three days should not immediately go get their refund because they must endure 15-20 MORE hours of a game they hate before they can voice their displeasure? If that were the case, every person whining about Donald Trump should have shut their traps until 2020 when they can actually vote his a$$ out of office. (I didn't vote for him and he needs to go!)

    Do yourself a favor, if you're on the fence about this title, go watch a stream or a play through. The graphics and detail rocks, the sound and voice acting are good, and the gameplay will likely feel familiar to you from the first title. But if you're not sure you can endure 25-28 hours of a story you may or may not like, watch a few hours first. You'll at least know what lies ahead before you spend your money.    … Expand

    This is one of the weakest stories I’ve ever played. The first game is a masterpiece, the best character development I have ever seen in a video-game, the second just abandons it. Yet, there is great graphics and I see some minor gameplay improvements, and the game is just gorgeous.
    Pros:
    -Great Graphics -Minor Gameplay Improvements -Minor AI improvements Cons: -Bad story -Character    This is one of the weakest stories I’ve ever played. The first game is a masterpiece, the best character development I have ever seen in a video-game, the second just abandons it. Yet, there is great graphics and I see some minor gameplay improvements, and the game is just gorgeous.

    Overall, this game was totally different from the first game, the focus was not in the story but the gameplay and graphics. I would not recommend this game for any fan of the original game.     Just terrible, a lot of false and misleading advertising making you believe that you can play as Joel when in reality you play as Abby for about 60% of the game in addition to basically giving Joel a **** end with so bad writing that I believe a 7 year old could do a better end and story for this game.     But this game is not just about gameplay ... the story really sucks. There are too many plot holes. You can't understand what happens sometimes. For example when abby beats dina and Ellie the plot moves into the future without explaining how They found a doctor to treat the wounds. (Ellie had a broken arm, dina and Tommy were seriously injured. )Jesse dies like a retarded. Ellie spares abby in the end for no logical reason. This game is against Joel. Joel has been "mistreated" by Ellie. Tommy then after a blow to the head It survives by losing only one eye. ARE WE SERIOUS?     Just finished the game. I found the gameplay mechanics, graphics and environment to be awesome. There are definitely some original approaches taken throughout the story and game design and some story developments are not as good as the first game hence giving it an 8 but the game should not receive 0. The shooting dynamics are boring the stealth leaves so much to be desired and honestly the story feels like you just watched some revenge show on Netflix and wrote then bought the story from some freshman at film school.     My experience playing this game starts out very strong and during the first 15 hours or so I thought for sure I was going to play a New Game+ right after finishing it. Unfortunately the performance drops off substantially after about the halfway mark.

I don´t care about any of the new characters and none of them even come close to Joel and Ellie from the first part.
    The game looks amazing and the gameplay is actually very fun. I enjoyed exploring the vast areas of the game, collecting resources, crafting and modding my weapons. The changes to the combat system are minor but sensible. The battles are tense, action packed and brutal.
    The Last of Us Part II is not a bad game. I enjoyed playing it and even though the story, the supposed heart and soul of the game, was a sad caricature of the original, I still finished it within a few days and couldn´t lay off the controller. So I can´t honestly rate this game too badly.

    If you´re new to the series or don´t really care about it you´re going to have a good time with it, just wait until it´s on sale. But if you´re like me and you love the first game, Part II will leave you with an overwhelming feeling of disappointment.

    Good game with bad narrative building, some blind boring spaces and forced to be longer than it should be... And the end is questionable, also it makes everything looks pointless. I would give it 7.5/10 Like I enjoyed it, but with some regards. :D In my eyes, it was worth buying. ^^ :D

    The only true last of us is in my favorite games of all time. I was excited up until the first leaks came out. I had a small piece of hope that it would be at least somewhat good as I already expected Joel would probably die in the squeal just not in the way the leaks showed. The way Abby just kills Joel when at this point the player has no idea who Abby makes her insufferable. All the work they do to try and make her sympathetic does nothing. At the end of the game, I agree with Ellies's decision to still go after Abby cause 'it can't all be for nothing'. It does not make sense that she would almost just let Abby go, she had just killed a man to get information on where Abby is. The ending is inconsistent with Ellie's character, as the entire game she has been killing people to try and get to Abby, and it is stupid she did not just shoot her in the head. Ellie's ending is bad and she does not even get revenge if she had just killed her straight away all that would be different is she would still have 10 fingers. A waste of £160. Collapse… Expand

Joel could see an amubush from a mile away in the first game why did he trust random people who were trespassing in their territory and on top of that you are forced to play the character that killed Joel and I who went into the game blind was not expecting that. They could have let us play more of Ellie which I would have liked. I personaly could not sympathize with Abby Because of the way she killed Joel even after he saved her, she tortured him to the end which I was not happy about. Ellei after seeing Joel die goes on hunting the people who killed Joel but guess what she kills hundreds of people but when it comes down to killing that one person who killed Joel she lets her go. Horrible writting and not enough types of infected. Also the time skip did not have anything new to it , just some more vegetation. Overall it's an embarrassment to the pre-qual.… Expand

Pregnant woman (with a huge belly) goes on the raid - climbing, jumping, fighting. And by the way, she is a medic! Medic, Carl! One of the most important profession in post apocalypse. This would make sense ONLY if they if they were short on manpower, but... On their base were a lot of men and not-pregnant women. So yeaaah, sure, she'll go... About the end... Do I wish the story had been told differently? For some parts, yes. Joel is, and will always be, my favourite to control.

    Playing as Abby allowed us to get another POV, which was needed. We saw the reason they acted as they did, and their motivation. It gave depth to what could have been a one dimensional villain.

    I enjoyed my play through, and yes there are issues at times with the story telling, it was still a solid game.    … Expand

This is disrespectful to the fans of the original and the beloved character of Joel which made the first game so great. The story is garbage, so badly written and made me not want to play to the end. I had to force myself to complete this identity politics ,feminist man hating crap. Joel is not playable and he is led out of character to his death ,then you are forced to play as the character who killed him and live through her backstory in an attempt to be on her side. This fails miserably and the ending is unsatisfying and just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It boggles the mind that they thought this would go down well. The fans wanted the playable story of Joel and Ellie to continue but what you get is Abby who i could not give a **** about. The only positive thing about this game is the graphics and combat. But i found even the gameplay dull after a while in this bleak dull world they created. Will someone please make a fan made sequel so i can forget this dog **** ever existed. In my mind there is only part 1, part 2 has yet to be made.… Expand

В ней нет ничего особенного, хотя большинство «экспертов» считают, что это вершина индустрии игр. Хотя и говорит, что игра отвратительная тоже не стоит. Лично для меня в игре больше минусов, чем плюсов. Плюсы: концовка игры нормальная, героини неплохо раскрыты. Минусы: продолжительность (серьезно?! 30 часов одинаковых зачисток локаций и собирательств? Перемудрили Вы, ребята), странные решения с сюжетными поворотами ( убить некоторых персонажей, Которые могли бы улучшить связь между двумя героинями - тоже не гуд для меня). Очень разочаровал момент с линией Яры и Лева - могли бы хотя бы им реплики прописать, а то Эбби бегает и уничтожает тех людей, с которыми они жили с рождения, а им вообще пофиг. Игра не шедевр, журналистам «спасибо» , что вводите людей в заблуждения, и дайте наконец поиграть за Томми… Expand

I consider that the main defects are not related to inclusion, but to the structure of the story, the plot to form very unreal situations, since the plot is a post-apocalyptic and survival world. and the final idea does not coincide with the events during the course of the game due to the final result.     I do honestly believe graphics, scenery, music was good. But the plot was terrible. I get it it is about revenge and hatred and all, but Abby was no where near sympathetic. If you wanted players to be sympathetic towards Abby you should've put her side of story first and how it came this way. But instead all I saw was death in front, and then story of the past of why she did it. The infamous scenery could've been better by locking Ellie and not let her see the death up front and just see the dead body afterwards. The storyline was epic failure. If it was poorly made, everyone would give at least 6 - 7 for it. But it the story was made terribly in purpose. It's hard to make a good story, but it sure is easy to make terrible one that makes the readers/ players upset. U disgust me.    … Expand

    They just killed Joel who was the most loved character of the last game in the first two hours, and in the end you don't identify with Abby not even because the game tried to do it.

    I can safely say I am done with TLOU2, and will be a little more weary of the next story-driven Naughty Dog game, especically with Druckmann attached.    … Expand

Furthermore, TLOU2 wastes time trying to incur the players empathy for these unlikable and disposable characters.
    -Plot holes abound
    -The game forces you to play as characters for which you have little emotional investment. -The gameplay has marginally improved since the first game. However, 7 years have passed since then and there should have been at least some innovation. You won't find any here
    -The story comes across as unfocused, padded, unnecessary and lacking in genuine human emotion.
    -The games narrative themes is unsubtle and 'preachy'
    -The less said about the abysmal ending the better...

    Long story short, skip this one and pretend the franchise ended with the first game...

    This game was really pretty bad, I bought it and played it all the way through. The character development was written by a bunch of idiots. It tries to be super edgy and just comes off as if it is written by a child. I could not recommend the story of this game less.

    Unfortunately a game like TLOU lives and dies by its story and not by its graphics or gameplay:

    -Dumb and miserable story

    -Unlikeable characters

    -An ending that makes the (already bad) story completely pointless

    A well-written story set in an apocalyptic setting should have both highs and lows, because the highs make the lows feel more powerful and vice versa.
    The story of TLOU has both love and hate, happiness and sadness, good and evil, fun moments and serious moments, absolute hope and utter despair, the story of TLOU2
    only has the latter stirred up with a pointless ending that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

    As a standalone game, TLOU 2 would have simply been a poorly written game, as a sequel to the beloved TLOU this is a punch to the gut for all the fans though.

    4/10 is the most objective score I can give this game, from a more subjective perspective it feels more like a 1/10.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
