    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok this is the first game I’ve ever reviewed on Metacritic because I want people to see a non-rants bad review. I personally believe that this game must have gotten killed by crunch as it heavily feels as though they wanted to change things but were unable to and hodge podged a story together. Playing as Abby does not make you like her, they did not do a good enough job at humanizing this character, simple as that. If they maybe started the game off as Abby it might have been different, giving us her perspective from the start may have helped us like her more but she’s also written to be frankly, unlikable. The emotions you get playing this game are also bland at best. The only thing I ‘felt’ while playing this was anger when Joel died. After that I just felt bored. When the story ends and Abby leaves when Ellie lets her go you don’t feel bitter or angry or sad, you feel nothing. I had to ask myself, what value did I gain from this? I honestly couldn’t answer. If you asked me this question about the original TLOU, I would’ve told you about the love for the characters and their bond. I’m that regard TLOU 2 fails at every single step of the game.… Expand

I feel scammed out of a story that could of been great but was complete dog **** I hate Abby, not cause she trans, but the fact I watched her kill off one of my favorite characters in the game and instead of the game just leaving it at that, it continues to SPIT on me, and I’m forced to play 10 hours of a character, who’s an **** throughout a majority of her play through. And the ending... wtf kind of ending was that, I’m thinking “yes I’m Ellie and now I can avenge Joel by killing Abby” but naw, instead I gotta fight this character in water for like 5 mins and for what?! Ellie is about to kill her and then just gives up, like what?! And that’s game. Horrible game and story, thanks cuckmen.… Expand

    It gets points for keeping me entertained for about 30 hours. Half the game you play as Ellie and half the game you play as Abby, and I don't know what they were trying to do but I think I'm not alone when I say, I don't like Abby, I don't want her to succeed and after finishing the game, I didn't at any point wanted her to succeed.
    I could have accepted the non satisfying ending and the    It gets points for keeping me entertained for about 30 hours.     Unfortunately, it does not give you any reason to play it again. It's a story based game which means that having a bad story ruins the gameplay. Graphics etc. can't save that.
    The game also has a lot of annoying interactions, buzzles are boring and b4hand praised weapon etc. animations are full and stupid.

Riddled with plot holes, out-of-character moments, illogical behavior, and terrible plot choices, The Last of Us Part 2 disintegrates everything that fans of the previous game loved — the relationship between Joel and Ellie. Two hours into the game, a main character is killed without context by somebody random, then you play as this random character, hunting another main character at some point, almost killing that main character. Two hours in, I no longer wanted to play the game. I found myself rooting for my “enemy” main character to kill my controlled character. Other times, I made my controlled character jump off cliffs because this is the only move that made sense, given what she did to the main characters we loved. Instead of developing the relationship between Joel and Ellie to the end, this game simply rips it to shreds in 2 hours out of a 25-30 game. Do not buy.… Expand

Okay I would like everyone to know that I have been familiar with this game for many years, I remember the times when I waited for the first part, I remember how it went. These were wonderful times, because I was really interested in watching the flow of events around the two main characters - Joel and Ellie. I have been waiting for this game for 5 years, really waiting and hoping that it will exceed all my expectations. I bought this game in the very first minutes, as soon as the pre-order became available. This game brought me Heartbreak, bitterness, and so on. I absolutely did not like the plot. Head writer Neil Druckmann tells us about the violence. But where was the violence at the end? Everyone has to pay for their mistakes, but did Abby pay? No, it was Jesse, Owen, Mell, and most importantly, Joel, but not her. The most disgusting thing in this game is to play for this girl, and fight with your favorite characters, who have become a family for us. I paid money for emotions, emotions that hurt me. Thank you, excellent developers, you have tried hard and spoiled the mood and emotions of many people.… Expand

    Why the **** would anyone want to buy this game when they kill off Joel by a disgusting freak of nature trans person. Also they lied in the trailers making you think Joel would have a much bigger part but nope he doesn’t. **** this game. I’m just gonna stick with part one and my uncharted games where they never did Nathan drake dirty. At least he got to have a happy ending.

    Stunning graphics and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay was all squandered by the writing and storyline of the game that was supposed to pick up where the first game drew us in at. Very disappointed in their decision with the story and nothing makes up for it or even makes me want to continue playing the game. Such a disservice to honestly, one of the gaming industry's best character.

    Game play was great, mechanics were greats, and the combat was great. Being a linear game that is submerged in its story, it really failed to deliver. Most of it has severe continuity issues as well as pointless plot points. This is the first game from ND that I did not like, and that being an understatement.

    Graphics are simply great. Nothing more to say to it. The gameplay is amazing. There was no getting used to playing the game. It felt like picking up where I left off. In fact, it is even improved a bit.

    Reviewing the story will require giving some spoilers but before that, if you want to play this game just play it. Don’t fall into somebody else’s idea who thinks negative attitude and comments would make them popular. Now I am quite sure most people who gave 0 to this game never played the game or does not actually have any opinion of their own and copied and pasted somebody else’s idea. (Most. Some may have really hated. Can't argue that.) Rating something 0 just reflects hatred rather than a review anyway. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t necessarily make it bad. People worked hard for this. You may very well dislike it, just have some respect and write what you disliked about it. Rating 0 and commenting “OMG SO BAD” is not a review really.

    Some claimed the story was bad and I can respect that. The storytelling is unorthodox to say the least. You can’t expect everyone to like that. But I don’t think it’s fair to compare it with the first game. This is a new game, not a DLC. Personally, I liked it and below is my opinion about it.

    SPOILERS AHEAD!

    Yes, at first, I disliked playing as Abby, but in the end, I liked that I disliked it. Keep in mind that the story is supposed to be unpleasant and you are meant to dislike some characters. (Including the ones you knew from the first game) It felt like that was the point. What violence, vengeance, and hatred cost a person and how would they leave an effect. You would not really like a person who is consumed by vengeance and hatred. In movies or games, you may find them impressive or cool in a way, but you would not like them. At least I wouldn’t. I mean yeah Darth Vader is amazing, but who would like him in person? (I meant Vader, not Anakin. Please don’t get into that.) “You may dispense with the pleasantries!” Oh come on!

    The only downfall was Joel. Kill him the way he dies, at that time, at that place and exactly like that, but please don’t get him going in there voluntarily. I mean this guy was supposed to even mistrust his shadow let alone go into a lodge full of strangers. Especially after what he did. He is smarter than that. The Joel we knew from the first game would leave a stranger (in this case Abby) to be killed by the infected rather than getting involved and putting himself at risk.

    This is a story of “revenge”, which begins with Abby who lost all her friends because of it, then leaps to Ellie who was left broken because of it and Tommy who also ended up obsessed and alone because of it, fills players with the same rage and desire for a revenge but lefts them with the same feeling these characters ended up with: disappointment.

    Yeah, it was unpleasant, but that seems like the goal here. So, I consider it a success.    … Expand

    Muy buen juego a mi parecer, la historia no es como uno desea, pero nos muestra que no todos son finales felices, la jugabilidad es excelente, el apartado grafico también es una maravilla y sin duda el juego hace que uno sienta muchos sentimientos como furia, tristeza, alegría, nostalgia y mucho más.

    This game is real good. With realistic animations, with nice graphic and with nice gameplay which is similar with the first part. I don't want to say something about plot... it's real good. This plot gave me calm, funny, cute, sad moment. I recommend this game, even if there is bad mark on metacritic. I'm not agree with the other people, because this game is real good

    How can you take meta critic seriously?
    Most critic reviews speak little about the game itself and a lot about how "Politically brave" it is. My god has the gaming industry fallen low.

    This game is horrible. Terrible writing to the point I can only think of it as a parody of the former game.

But if you are willing to go in with an open mind and take in the story this game gives you, you are in for an emotional rollercoaster and nothing short of a masterpiece in storytelling. The gameplay improves on everything from the first game and then some. Those graphics are fire.     I play games for the story with that said this story SUCKS donkey *****. It doesn't matter that it involves gay and lesbian characters(for the people that will assumed that it does) it just wasn't a good story and that's what I play games for. Without giving any spoilers they took away the main reasons I wanted to come back to this game.

    Fantastic game - everything is an improvement on the last, from the combat to the movement. I feel as close to these characters as I did in the first game. Phenomenal.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you are a Last of us part 1 fans, you will feel physical pain and sick in the stomach when you play as Abby, after her brutally murder Joel(because he killed her father in part 1) within 100 mins into the game.

    Also worth mention that Joel just walk into a room full of strangers(Abby and her friends), without any hesitation or suspicious, and said to everybody, “Hey, I’m Joel.” and JUST LIKE THAT, get himself killed. :)

    Will never purchase any game from naughty dog from now on to the end of my life:)    … Expand

The choices that the characters make are just the strangest most out of place choices that feel like the writer wanted because of a story they're pushing instead of what the character would actually choose. Kurt Vonnegut once discribed writing a character and controlling their choices, it feels like you can only control them with stale rubber bands. You can pull them a little, but once you pull too much, the character breaks. It feels like almost all of the characters broke in this story. The writers seemed like they had a story in mind, then just threw characters in to fit certain roles regardless of who that character is.

    The graphics are great, the acting is great, gameplay is meh. But without a good story in a game like the last of us, all of those things matter so little. With no story, it all falls apart. This was a very sad realization because it proved to me that even great game developers like Naughty Dog can fail so miserably. I will definitely wait until after reviews to buy the next game they make.    … Expand

By the end of Part II, both the player and the characters are in such a low point both physically and emotionally that you come out of the experience wondering what the point of it all was? Unfortunately, The Last of us Part II's response to that question is such an unsatisfactory, weak, and vague answer, that it ultimately leaves a bitter taste in the player's mouth to the whole Last of Us Part II experience.    … Expand

Sin duda una obra maestra dueña a quien le duela, este juego sobrepasa todas las expectativas, tiene mecánicas de juego que te ayudan más a la hora de jugar, sin hablar de sus gráficos que son lo mejor que se ha visto últimamente, vamos a hablar de la historia, la historia se basa en la busca de venganza por parte de Ellier hacia Abby, ya que esta última mato a joel a sangre fría, joel termina siendo el villano del juego luego de que traicionará a mucha gente cantando y asesinando, estos últimos fueron los Lobos que no se sabe porque fue que joel los traicionó, pero los lobos eran unos ponches puercos que buscaban y mataban gente inocente para comer ellos.
    Para mi la única desventaja es que no se pudiera usa tanto a joel, para despedirnos mejor de este personaje que nos acompaña en nuestra aventura en TLOU Parte 1.
