    I don't know where to start really. Credit where credit is due, the Graphics, atmosphere of the areas and stuff like that is amazing!

    It's just let down so badly by the story. Like having a movie with amazing CGI but a horrid plot!

    but what makes the game good is game play graphic world design and development now my decision is that the story is fluent and beautiful at first
    it also has a start that draws you in. obviously it is played for 3 hours in a row at first without ever leaving the game
    but when you get in the middle of the game you can start to get bored slowly
    but when you get to the end you are begging for the game to end, especially when you play the memories of Abby you are getting cold from the game.
    and we came to the final, I think it was the worst and the most disgusting end compared to the game history
    Even if a person wanted the end of a game, it wouldn't end so badly
    In short, my comment is that the beginning of the game is perfect, the middle is meh, the end is disgusting
    If you are going to buy the game, I can recommend it to you for game play and for the pleasure felt when you hit that npc. but the decision to take for the story is up to you

    While the graphics are good, everything else is horrendous. from the story to the combat its just painful to play. Feels like the 5 years in development went straight to the graphics because holy **** the story and oh boy the ending, the ending has got to be the worst I've ever seen. Massively overrated.

    A visually stunning game that's brought down by a lack luster revenge plot characters are often forgotten , some charaters who you would asume that could be relevent for the plot just vanish from the face of the earth. The exploration and puzzle solving feel like a step backwards .     The game looks amazing and the mechanics are unreal but it's all for nothing cuz the story has to be one of the worst in gaming. The game is slow and makes no frickin sense. It takes a big ol poop on the game before that was so amazingly put together. It's so frustrating that we had to wait 7 years for this hot pile of garbage.

    My personal disappointment of this year. Really love the first part and used to play it for a while. Now this seems like a looooong movie with some interactions. The first 2 hours are really boring and slow, ordinary explorations and a few “zombies”. They really tried to dramatize the story but now it looks like a psychological thriller. Don’t recommend to anybody.

    Gameplay is intense and it's probably the most beautiful game I've seen. Also the technical mastery that naughty dog shows with how well optimized the game was for my standard PS4 is truly amazing. They avoided the jet engine sound of the original on PS3. However the story is monotonous and lacks enough focus to truly inspire any real emotion from you as a play, unlike the first game. ItGameplay is intense and it's probably the most beautiful game I've seen. Also the technical mastery that naughty dog shows with how well optimized the game was for my standard PS4 is truly amazing. It reeks of a creator who believes their creative vision could have no faults. It's basically George Lucas with the prequels again. The game bandies around interesting ideas but it never truly commits to then and every time I began to feel something for the story, the game would cut to another character and completely take me out of the emotional and thought provoked place. If this were a game franchise less known for story, I could see it gaining the acclaim that games such as MGSV have even with their weakened emphasis on story. This franchise however, is completely reliant on the story and it's emotional effect on you as a player and fails to commit to the ideas it brings up enough to provide a troluly thought provoking experience. Disappointed to say the least, I hate that this game felt like a slog but it did and I can't lie. 4/10.

I personally liked the game, the thing that felt off was the tonal shift. It happened so suddenly that it caught me off guard. One second you are a agile badass killing clickers left and right, then the next you are a refrigerator playing fetch with a dog. The ending wasn’t something that I expected to be so hollow. I was left with an unfulfilled feeling in the pit of my stomach. It felt like my 20+ hours of gameplay amounted to nothing, but after a while it made since( even though it was pretty stupid). My take on the ending was that Ellie wanted to end the cycle of violence by not killing Abby(which was stupid). Anyways Ellie ended the violence by mowing down hordes of people only to not kill the person who killed her father figure and her best friend. The person who stripped Ellie of almost everything/one she had know. Even upon Ellie’s return to her home, she is stripped of her family and 2 fingers. All in all the revenge Plot didn’t really work for a game like the last of us. I applaud Neil and his team at Naughty dog for creating a unique experience in tlou2 but it is impossible to follow up a masterpiece. I still loved playing this game I just think that they needed someone on staff to think of pacing and placing, because it was a bit of a mess.… Expand

As of the story, I get why the people are upset about it, but I think that you need to finish the game in order to understand the direction of the writing. To me, it was an incredible trip along Ellie and Abby. In the end, you sympathize with Abby as much as you sympathize with Ellie. It's all about vengeance and how that never ending wheel must be stopped. It's about redemption and the DUALITY that these 2 women represent. Loved the game.… Expand

Love how it looks, but the clunky game play and poor Narrative of story is just a major letdown, killing off main characters who are loved and drove the story to a point has been done in the past and it has been done right many times, this game didn't do a great job with the same, I get all the hate around that but the actual dislike for the game itself stems from how the plot fails to wrap up the story in the way it should have, justifying the route they decided to go with it, if there is a 3rd installment and they can redeem themselves from the half baked writing this time around. But for now I'll not be going beyond the demo and play through's.

    Bad on the studio going rogue on the dev's and artists and forcing them through crunches by underpaying or straight up denying pay and firing off staff to keep the others in check.    … Expand

    I for one find this game really special because of how personal the experience it gave me was to me, the environmental storytelling is sublime (as it is with most Naughty Dog titles). There are some genuinely beautiful moments that make you wish for the serenity to last before you are thrown back into the vicious and unforgiving road to revenge. The gameplay hasn't really evolved too heavily from the first game other than a few interesting additions, I personally didn't have a problem with it but the lack of innovation may bore you at some points. Before I wrap up the positive section I would just like to gush over how much I want to marry the graphics and art direction of this game, oh boy, you really have to see for yourself.

    Here comes the bit that you butthurt gamerboys are looking for - the negatives. No matter which side you are on, we can unanimously all agree that the execution of the narrative and general writing here is abysmal. At certain points, some of the dialogue between characters is janky and out of place and there is a 10-hour section of this game that is unnecessary and just made me want to throw my character off a cliff and watch her scream as she plummets to her death ( I had much fun with this).

    This is my personal opinion but I really do love this game, and as you were probably wondering earlier, yes - I love Marmite too. I don't love it despite its flaws, I love it because it's flaws has made the game so decisive and controversial (and you all know I'm here for the drama.) Jokes aside this game is truly beautiful, and to develop your own opinion you really do have to play it for yourself. Also please don't listen to the reviews that say "0, jjkjksjksjsksjksskj" because I'm pretty sure its either spam or clickers bashing a keyboard.    … Expand

    Although the game mechanics are a clear improvement over the first one, the game's tone and story fall abysmally. I waited SOME time for this game to launch and I honestly expected better.

    Although the game wasn't a COMPLETE disappointment, ND's business practices were. Honestly I would have given it a mixed review if not for this factor.

When asked about a sequel to the game in 2013, Neil was truthful and said it would be difficult to make a sequel to the story at the height of the first game. If the first one scored 10, it certainly deserves 9.5 and every penny spent on this beautiful work by ND. Thanks ND for another trip of emotion and feelings, best game of the PS4 generation without a doubt.

For those of you who are criticising the game for "characters or character development" are literally only doing so because ellie is gay and abby is a well built woman and your average players, usually men don't like the idea of that. As well as people moaning that ellie can now jump, swim etc. Did you expect her to remain a 14yr old girl who can't do any of that?
    As for the story and plot, naughty dog released a statement literally telling you, you may not like it because we're not just writing a story of vengeance. We are making you feel different emotions and whether or not who is in the right, who's in the wrong etc. They've gotten some real backstory into it and they and are using everyday ideas to put into a game. They are trying to not only make it a game but to put real-life consequences into it and think is this right or wrong? It truly is a masterpiece written. As for the ending, i am not 100% the biggest fan because I feel it leaves you a bit lost. Your not sure where ellie goes from there l? Will she get her happy ending after all, what happens to abby does she go to the fireflies does she even make it off the island? But to be honest I think its honestly an amazing game! Just has occasional flaws as all games do! Theres so much more I could write about the dynamics or even play through etc. But I just don't think it deserves all these bad reviews.    … Expand

The game does a great job in technical aspects like graphics and animations but was mediocre in game play mechanics like melee and ranged combat. The auto-aim was not very good, since it was not always locking the aim on the target. There was also no target locking for the melee combat, which can cause a problem when u dodge the enemy attacks. Mostly i lost the enemy in my sight, when i dodged their attacks. The AI was ok. But the story was terrible in every aspect. The game was boring maybe half of the game play time, since the story is terrible and a couple of times makes no progress for 3-4 hours. You just loot and fight the enemies. The main goal of this game is story telling. But the main story is not good/interesting. There are also some ridiculous parts in the story. Most annoying one is that Abby was helping 2 newly met Scars children and by doing this she was taking on her faction. The game could be one of the best games ever, if the story was a good one.     I was really divisive whether I should give this game a 1 for its gameplay or 0 for its entirety. But I have decided to give this a 0 anyway so people won't have to waste 25 hours into this pure garbage.
    Most of us kind of having a hunch already that Joel might be dead in this game but apparently they executed it is so poorly and the most insulting thing is that you have to play as stay puft for around 10 hours and they wanted you to care for her. How on earth could the director think of that nonsense? We played the first one and rooted for the relationship of Joel and Ellie and that's the selling point of it. And now they only throw a bit of it here and there and instead they put so much effort to show their political agenda and sacrificing a good story.
    And last but not least, for all of you that wants to keep going with the spoiler. I guarantee you it provides no satisfying ending at all.
    If they want to make a memorable game, then congrats because they have definitely made me memorize one of the biggest scam in a game franchise.
    I will stay away from any future game that you direct, Neil. You don't deserve that title.    … Expand

    The Gameplay is average. But the Story of Part 2 is a big f**k you to all the fans of the first game. They literary rape us the entire story and at the end they piss over us too, as a bonus!

Game should end half way through where you get revenge. To switch back to the person you don’t want to play as, just to then get dragged through 8 hours of that and then culminate in no ending? The gameplay didn't change that much since objectives are almost but improved since the first game. Here is the sad part, the story, as much as I wanted to paint this game worthy because it's. the sequel, I would have to trust my emotions here because I feel cheated and not to mention false advertisement wherein they showed clips that is supposedly Joel, but in reality, it's not. Maybe I forgot to check articles about the changes, but it affected me greatly. So, my rating would be as low as this.… Expand

To say that men and homophobes have an issue with this game is insulting and disregards the fact that you have to play the game as a Abby while she wants to kill Ellie. What happened to this game honestly? I’m a woman, and it’s sad that I’ll have to announce that when giving a score to this game to be able to show that MEN aren’t the only ones upset, and I’m not a homophobe. Now that I’ve cleared that up, this story does not compare to TLOU1 and the gameplay doesn’t either when players are forced to play as the antagonist in over 10 hours. The theme for this game is obviously ‘revenge bad’ but still Abby should get away with killing the lead character from the first game without any repercussions? Lmao I can’t do anything else but laugh at this point. I could’ve spent my money on other things and this feels like a waste of time and money to be honest.… Expand

The way they improved their gameplay, their animations and even the sounds is amazing. The level design is incredible, especially if you keep in mind the kind of level design the first TLOU had. They improved a lot.

    Now, when it comes to the story... It's a very    People rating this game as a 0 or 1 are clearly haters. Even if you completely despise this story, this game is incredible. The way they improved their gameplay, their animations and even the sounds is amazing. The level design is incredible, especially if you keep in mind the kind of level design the first TLOU had. They improved a lot.

    Now, when it comes to the story... It's a very tough experience. The story is cruel, sad and angry. Does that make it bad? No. I still love the story and I love the characters. Each decision made by each character is completely justified and you can understand why they do what they do. Each character gets what they deserve in the end, even if it's not pretty or doesn't seem completely fair at first. If you really think about it, the ending is perfect. Does that mean it's an ending that leaves you with a smile on your face and feeling proud of what you've done? No. Because there's nothing to be proud of when it comes to revenge and violence. But everything the characters have done is completely understandable.

    The only reason why I've given this game a 9 instead of a 10 is the way they present the story. I won't say it's confusing because I was never really lost, but it's true that they jump around in the game timeline a lot, and sometimes it's annoying. Also, I feel like there's some characters you don't get attached to (Jesse, Yara and Abby's group) and sometimes the game treats these characters as if they were important somehow. Just because you're with them for a couple of minutes, that doesn't mean you get attached to them. I think they did well with Lev and Abby, but I just couldn't care about the others I mentioned. But it might be just me that needs more time to get attached to characters.

    The rest was amazing. Great experience, makes you question everything you do, and makes you hate some decisions the character make, even if you understand them. This game makes you realize that revenge will only bring more pain and loss.    … Expand

    This game just blew my mind. The story is so real and I've felt the same like Ellie. This game will make you cry and laugh. You'll be angry. You will want the revenge. At the end, if you understand the ending, then you understand what was Neil trying to tell. I just love it.

    The game itself looks really nice however as a fan of the first game I feel that the story of this game dose not come close to part 1 , there is no bond with the new characters and no loyalty to the old ones, it's a revenge plot where you fail at getting revenge

    My main issues with the game are as follows
    1. Destroying Joel's character and killing him off the in the first hour of the game.
    2. Spending 10ish hours playing as a character I loath.
    3. After going through everything we don't even get the payoff of killing Abby at the end.

IMHO in final part of the game (when Ellie fights against Abby) there should be more flashbacks of Ellie killing Abby's friends to show how vain they were. That would clearly show why she didn't kill her. Because violence is making more violence. That is exactly what game about. Abby's friends and Abby herself are not monsters, they also have families, feelings etc and i clearly felt that. But there should be more emphasis on that. This game made me think about how important forgiveness is and how pointless is blind revenge. Anyway, I really enjoyed this game so much! Thanks to all developers for their hard work and sleepless nights. They did enormous amount of work and i really appreciate that!… Expand

    This takes the 1st place as the worst sequel ever made.I see lot of reviews giving points for graphics or gameplay.If you want those just play RDR2,it does it better.Thats not what made the first one a masterpiece,it was the story.And they wrote the story with indentity politics in mind.It is so bad that sometime you think its taken from a fan fiction website.

    The game looks great on a hdr tv. Great acting, ok story. Mediocre outdated gameplay. The arenastyle battles get boring and repetitive as the story lumbers on. Move to an area, kill everything then loot stuff and open safes repeat. It was not the sequel I've been waiting for. I give it a "it's ok" out of 10.
