Characters will be mentioned a few times killed off before anything on them can be developed and never mentioned again, like Joel. Lazy and boring "revenge bad" message. Don't waste you money on this game you'll fall asleep trying to finish it.… Expand

    Im so happy that i didnt buy the game.
    My friend did buy it first and we played it together at his place. Man.. We didnt even finish the game halfway. He literally threw the game in the trash. Worst game ever..

    The game looks good, but the story is layers upon layers of woke garbage. Wish there were negative numbers for scoring because this deserves it. No idea how they thought this would be ok. What a let down for fans of the series.

Story is focused on promoting LGBT, showing emotional aspects of characters what doesn't add anything to the character of this action game.     I really think that most of the people that hate the story hasn’t even taken a bit to think about how it develops. The game focused in presenting reality as it is. The game and cinematics showed us a story not anymore about Ellie and Joel, but a society instead. The last of us became bigger.     A game that is unfortunately being treated very harshly and unfairly. Just because your favourite character died doesn't make it a bad game. This is the most emotionally involved I have ever been in a story game and I spent most of it crying. I do however find the Abbey game play to be tedious at times apart from the Warzone and ground zero at the hospital. For those claiming it's SJW you've already lost the argument. Fantastic story with depth, emotion, pain and anger and an amazing capture of the human condition. Explores the inability to let go in great detail. Love it. It has its flaws but so does part one.    … Expand

    Picked it up on release, been busy so have only sunk 10hrs or so into it, awesome game. Not disappointed in the slightest. Game play is reminiscent of the first one with some improved features. Not sure why all the hate on the game, it deserves the critical acclaim and is shaping up to be something I would play through again.

    The rest is absolutely 10/10... Gameplay, graphics, environment, enemies AI, Level Design, soundtrack and etc..

    Veredict: The Last of US part 2 get's such criticism from the gamer community because it's a time clock bomb that came in a bad time; we know how things work these days, we know how guys react when there's something different from what is called normal in terms of sexual education, we know that any kind of entertainment that have some source of religion approach get's hated & etc..
    And to finish, i doubt that if this game wasn't a sequel, think as a new IP, ppl would LOVE IT.

    This game isn't what we saw in the first game, it hits differently, but still get you to the edge of your seats in many moments, buy the game, enjoy every second of it; and THEN you have the right to write a review :)    … Expand

    I was very excited about this. I can not even put it in my words. My hype did continue even though I was unfortunately exposed to the leaks. I knew there will be a devastating scene where our beloved Joel would be murdered brutally. Even though knowing this, I was eager to play the game.     The first problem about the game is it starts as a really slow game and paces up by not rushing it. However this was not a problem for me and probably for the fans of the first game, at least that is what I thought since we waited for 7 years to get our hands on this game and the slow build-up is a foreseeable part for a great story. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong here, the game is top-notch in terms of graphics, sounds and combat mechanics. I can not even think if these great features were flourished with a unique and touching story. I see and congratulate the brave ideology about making the hated protagonist as the second part of the game. However, it just did not work for me and probably for most of the fans.
    For example, one of the best sequences in the game was the Sky Bridge and the Hotel part for me. The design was just perfect. However, the reasoning and the fact that you were playing the unfavored protagonist made it a very ordinary episode.
    There was an immense effort to make us empathize with Abby. Underlining her likable bits so strongly made it a very hard thing to adapt. Trying to achieve the same emotional response similar to the first game with the relationship between Abby and Lev, even though they tried it very hard, the problem was there was no reasoning under it. This made it very hard to buy it even though I wanted to.
    The final sequence was just a mess. I understand the morals they are trying so hard to shove at our faces, however, for that, I can go and watch a random movie or tv series that does it a hundred times better. It was highly unnecessary and just very sad.
    One last thing to mention is false advertising. I know that they have a right to do this but seriously? I believe this should be a serious point which should be criticized as abusing their fans trust.    … Expand

    I’ll begin by saying I like this game, but I do think the critics from news outlets exaggerated their score. The Last Of Us Part ll is not the perfect game both in gameplay and story telling, but has compelling themes that deconstructs the players views of characters from the previous games. This game is not for everyone and when the credits rolled I found myself not really wanting moreI’ll begin by saying I like this game, but I do think the critics from news outlets exaggerated their score. This game is not for everyone and when the credits rolled I found myself not really wanting more since the stories of these characters have been told and coming out of the events of this game they all lost more than they gained. The Story in this game feels everywhere, Neil Druckman took a lot of cues from Tarantino and his way of story telling most notably in vain of Pulp Fiction with a revenge tale similar to Kill Bill. With that being said this type of storytelling doesn’t translate well into a 25 Hour Story. This game focuses on both sides, no one is the good guy and no one is the bad guy. The Last Of Us Part ll suffers greatly from this when a majority of the game you spend walking around with dialogue and discussions that aren’t interesting. This is more apparent within the last half of the game and is by far the weakest part too. The Combat this game has to offer initially feels like a rush after you blow off your first limps hearing blood curdling screams from enemy factions. This brutality alone compliments and reflects the themes this game strives to, but eventually this novelty gets worn out after awhile and you eventually see the flaws the game has to offer such as the dumb A.I that actively hunt you down during the numerous combat arenas. To simply put it, this game at first is fun, but due to the length of this game and how boring the game gets this game simply playing it feels like a chore in which you constantly wish for the credits to just roll. As for characters and relationships alongside the numerous deaths in this game comparing it to the first title a lot of these deaths lack any form of weight to them and all it simply spells out is “No One Is Safe and No Happy Endings Exist”. Ellie’s and Dina’s relationship what starts off as a close one ends up becoming romantic with moments where you see clear Jealousy by Ellie, this relationship does progress, but as it does and as you reach late into the game you see Dina has developed the same control that Joel once had over Ellie during a scene that propels you into the final three chapters. Overall The Last Of Us Part ll isn’t for everybody, I found the ending conflict between Ellie and Abby to be empty and lacks any satisfaction, their actions costed so much and for Ellie it ultimately left her with nothing and almost empty with this clearly displayed before the final cutscene. If I was to rate this game I’d simply rate it a 6/10 It’s a ok game, it’s clear that plenty of love went into it, but unfortunately it misses the mark on a lot of levels especially since I completed the original before beginning this game. Characters and Writing alongside the accompanied gameplay don’t serve the game well since all together it over stays it’s welcome compared to the original.… Expand

Naughty Dog, I don't wanna play as Abby for 8 hours of the game and also the best parts of the game are with her. Why????? We dont care about her we want her tortured and dead. Also the fact that you killed Joel is as horrible as it gets, but we dont even get to play with him???? Come on!! Needless to say i will miss the 70€ i spent pre ordering the game and I advise you not to do the same, with the only exception being If you are Neutral to the story. If you dont care about the story the gameplay is breathtaking and ontl then is it really worth yout money.… Expand

I don't care about the SJW propaganda, I just wanted another story about Joel and Ellie, but they gave me this **** story, poor character development, the only good thing are the graphics. How can you kill Joel in such a shameful way? The toughest survivor, that doesn't trust anybody, just walks into a room full of strange people and tells them his name, like he didn't kill anybody in the previous game. It's obvious that some people will want revenge after you kill their friends/family. If only he had died in an epic way, my score would have been different but that **** death made me want to burn the game.
    This is one of those games that were destroyed because of SJW, they consider that a perceptive and smart woman like Ellie can't be helped by a clever tough white man that represent everything they don't have.    … Expand

Its brutal, its violent, its gut wrenching, its final. Its in everyway The Last of Us. Gameplay is fun, puzzles, exploration, and stealth/action mechanics that are an improvement over the first. Story is going to be the make or break for people. A open mind is needed, you may not like all the characters in this game but you will know why they do what they do. There are no heroes or villians in TLOU, the view is relative to where your standing. The game does not play nice and neither can you, you need to get you're hands dirty, make that bloody. While not without its faults, this is the best game ive played since Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018.… Expand

    I was in love with the first game, the paternity, the connection between them both, and then you kill Joel. I paid to play it first and I tried to not see the trailers so I can receive the new story. But the story sucks, for me, is not what I expected. I hope to play a little with Joel, but never happens.
    This story is just sad and full of anger, in the other one, even if Joel and Ellie lived a lot of sad or bad things It was moved by a good feeling, paternity, love. And this game is nothing like the last one. They do not develop any story at all.    … Expand

    One of the best looking games to come out of this generation, the art and design team prove again that they can push the technology to its limit to show something that is graphically and technologically impressive. The world that is made within the series is one of the best examples of a post-apocalyptic world we have.

    The game-play is a decade old rendition of the first games, with no new innovations to push the medium. Which feels like it’s made up of entirely of different rooms of repeating stealth or combat scenarios, while the very few environmental “puzzles” simply require you to move a dumpster or climb through a window.

    In a conclusion; I myself, would have rather continued to believe that the story had ended at the final events of the previous game, than have gone through the devastating, un-enjoyable events of the sequel that added almost nothing of substance to the plot.    … Expand

I'm sorry, ND, but I simply cannot care about all the individuals you showed me throughout the game, I can't even do that in real life to be honest. Ellie and Joel grew on me after spending a whole game seeing them face hardships and build their relationship. But in the sequel, you expected me to understand a new character whose only redeeming quality is the death of her father. Nothing else. Because Abby as a character is not worth of anyone's care. She didn't do anything remotely empathetic to earn my respect: she **** her friend's boyfriend, she never showed regret after killing Joel in that grotesque way even when he saved her or while hearing the cries of Ellie, she enjoyed torturing a pregnant woman, you made me play as her and fight against an actual beloved character and so on.
    But hey, you thought that after showing me that people seem to like her in her own stupid faction, will I also like her? That's not how things work and you should know better.

    And the rest is not much better, at many times I felt like I was watching an episode of a bad TV show. Did you this time take inspiration from a cliche Netflix show by any chance instead of a book?

    And I haven't mentioned anything about the barely improved mechanics and disappointing AI. The 5 mark goes for those in charge of directing the scenes, the art and the 3D models because they did an incredible job, anything else is subpar and it doesn't matter if the game cost 1 or 200 million, a bad game is still a bad game.    … Expand

The game wants you to hate Abby to the bone for first 10 - 14 hours and then make you understand her action base on her perspective. What happen is most people are too blinded by to much hate already when it reaches that point. So they just close their eyes and refuse to see her side. Naughty Dog created the game to tell a story. They make it clear that they wanted to tell a story. But gamers wanted to go John Wick as Ellie and Kill everybody on sight with matching "hell YeaH!" and "Die **** I think Abby's story line save the story from being predictable that we always see a thousand times in every video game when we always get to kill in video games without thinking if the hero is really right. I think most gamers are not yet ready for that. They are afraid to see both side, They only wanted to see the side the hero that they love.… Expand

Not to think of every game need to end with an happy ending is a brave step. In this dystopian world where the humankind story is not going in the direction of happiness and world peace, there needs to be a place for story’s like The Last of Us.

Im in the middle with this game, I love the first half, graphics are amazing, I enjoyed the combat and the environment was beautifully designed, old abandoned museums, aquariums, parks, arcades, and churches. I found myself stopping and stairing at the beauty in every detail I loved the flashbacks with ellie and her gameplay, however this took a real bad turn at the halfway point. WHY did we have to play as abby for half the game, i get that they wanted us to see her side of things and to sympathize with her but i just found myself hating every moment with her, and I think its very misleading to show only ellie in all the trailers like shes the the person you play as and them make us play abby, also her model was very awkward looking she didn't look female or even normal, she had bigger biceps then the men very disappointed with the second half and the story.… Expand

    - All these reviews saying this game is not worth it because they don't like the plot is pathetic. Writers can write whatever they want and this is nowhere near next to GoT S8. I didn't come in with any spoilers, so I wasn't sure why she was seeking vengeance at all. I was worried the whole town was going to be overrun like too many times in The Walking Dead. People are saying Joel would never have walked into an ambush, but it wasn't planned besides by Abby on the fly, so the group wasn't being suspicious besides her psychotic self. It was legit just one woman on her own running from zombies- yeah she is crazy buff, but that was a huge horde- much bigger than we ever had in the first game. It made sense to seek shelter. Now Tommy's invite was dragging it...

    While I still wanted Abby to die in the end, that doesn't make the game not enthralling and overall incredible experience. I was seeing red as much as Ellie and 100% was with her on her murder spree. If you can't see where her character is coming from then, you need to think more about what Joel meant to her and what he did for her. Also, they are in a post-apocalyptic, ultra-violent world- after seeing her father figure die while those people held her down and spit on him- who cares if they let her live(I appreciate it though) they are all going down. I loved all of their flashback scenes and definitely noted how they never said I love you. They expressed it differently. Imagine how terrifying it is that the people you love the most can be killed at any moment and humanity is barely surviving. We are honestly too privileged even as people with enough physical and financial stability to have gaming consoles (think Yemen rn) to fathom those psychological effects.

    I hated playing as Abby hunting Ellie, but I think that's what they were going for. It would've killed me if they made you play the killer of Joel while she killed Ellie- that's too much. I think perhaps the plot would've made more sense to everyone if Joel was kidnapped and Ellie had to save him. That's not perfect, but some of the major gripes could be ameliorated. Killing anyone necessary to get to Joel vs killing anyone necessary to get to his killer and then not kill her? If Joel died around the time when they switched to Abby, then we could've fit in that vengeance thread much better. We didn't need Abby's perspective to make this work, we needed to really expand on Ellie. Showing the WLF and Seraphite camps were appreciated, but Ellie could've been the one on the Island and the WLF part could've been much shorter.

    So I missed Ellie for hours and hours, but that doesn't mean the gameplay wasn't topnotch throughout. Anyone complaining about it needs to seriously think if they are comparing this game to imaginary ones in their heads. I don't know of a game that made me feel more in it. It's weighted, emotional and tense. There are various ways to engage with the different enemies and if you don't want to deal with them then you can see if you can just sprint out of there. I did that a few times with the stalkers for sure... I would also want more objects to be able to fall over or moved so the npcs can be lured or find you easier.

    While I don't love the story of this game, it is still 100% worth playing and I'll definitely play it again. While I am excited to play again, it is so dark and energetically draining(in a good way), I'm going to need a few weeks break. I'm rating it 10 to counteract the hate, but I would say the story brings it down to a 8/10 because I really just wanted more Ellie. Abby's only saving grace was because Lev stopped her, she hadn't learned anything since she killed Joel. Her saving what she called "Scars" was her redeeming herself for killing the Seraphites for years, it had nothing to do with Joel. She never felt what she did was wrong, she was only told it was. I wanted Dina to live, but if Abby killed her (wow that would've been so sad for Ellie) her Santa Barbara journey would've worked more. As much as I liked Lev, he's the reason his sister lost her arm then her life (two separate choices), so if I had a choice as Ellie, I would've killed Abby and then that kid to end the cycle right there... y'all both free from this zombie hell now, you welcome. However the choice is never up to you and what happens is the story that naughty dog wanted to tell, and I personally that it was brilliant it has left me thinking about it 24/7. Do not let negative or hateful reviews of the game spoil your experience go into it with a open mind and really just play and experience what is occurring and challenge yourself to understand what is being portrayed. After all we all play games for the experience and especially these story driven games to come out at the end with a new feeling and perspective.

You play as the villain in most part of the game, the story is pretty simplistic revenge for what happened at the end of the previous game but for some reason lets not talk about it The only reason people say the story in the previous game was good is the dynamic between ellie and Joel, take that away and you got an empty game

    The gameplay is pretty much the same that the previous one, they added 1 more infected mutation that appears maybe twice, the puzzles and level design is poor, the only mystery is when you find a lock door and have to broke a windows to get in and read the password of the vault that is written in a few meters away and that happens like 8 times. Thats all the puzzles in the game. There are a few good scenes in the game like the performance of ellie, nora killing and the birthday of ellie and joel, beside that i cant think of anything else if this game came out for ps3 it would be considered really good like the last of us part 1, but things have change and so does the game you are delivering the same gameplay nothing new but a crappy revenge story about the simple concept of, and "eye for and eye, and we all will end up blind" Empty

Primarily the humanization of the enemy which is non-existent in many games. It showed how similar Ellie and Abby were to each other with both having their dads killed, both having friends killed, both seeking revenge, etc. At first we saw Abby as evil but we got to see her story and how she wasn't the monster we all thought she was. Lastly the choice of life or death was throughout this for example when Ellie decided to leave to kill Abby she chose death and was rewarded with the destruction of her family and life when she could've chosen to take care of her family and live a beautiful life. The storytelling should've been better but the messages behind it was what made this game worth something.… Expand
