    Cons - Hmmm....ok so to be fair some of the cutscenes weren’t half bad especially some of the flashbacks. What these flashbacks proved though, is that if naughty dog wanted to they could have easily given us another heartfelt and occasionally heart wrenching game.     Good Story? NOPE I liked that they tried to show both perspectives but like mostl every death felt rushed and it looked like Naughty Dogs tried waaay to hard to get certain feelings out. A godlike story can carry a bad production but not the other way around

    Huge disappointment. TLOU was loved for its script and the beauty of the characters. It was the characters who created the story, not the other way around. Unfortunately in TLOU2, we have a horrible and incoherent story.

    I didn’t want to believe the leaks, I felt like the missing context was key. I was wrong. The environments are gorgeous, but this game’s heart is ugly, soulless, bleak and nihilistic. I’ve never disliked playing a game so much.

    Disappointing followed with inconsistencies, disrespect, a general lack of logic and decision making, despite the possibility
    of actually making sensible, and realistic decisions (that is basically non-existence in the entire game) that can make the game an actually interesting journey with new and returning characters, but instead, it's mostly dry garbage shoved to your face forcefully.

    English: Despites the stunning visuals and the almost flawless gameplay The Last of Us: Part II is such a disappointment for the fans of the game characters and history...
    In the initial hours of the game Joel dies for Abby, a weird choice but is understandable...
    But then we have the game ending that doesn't make any sense because in the whole game Ellie is searching for her veagence against Abby ( a not so good character ) but at the end she doesn't kill her ( lol ), leting this not finished journey feeling in the game ending.
    Overal a very good gameplay but a not so good history... What ruins a few part of the whole experience.
    Sorry for english mistakes (i'm not totally fluent yet)

I guess visuals are OK, but it's the end of the PS4 life cycle and they spent a gazillion dollars making this game, so this simply meats expectations; nothing special, and honestly doesn't mean anything if the game overall isPart 2 deconstructs all that was good from Part 1. But the story just walks the entire franchise off a cliff. Joel's death especially. Myself and literally the entire fan base was fine with Joel dying. However, the way they killed him off was the most disturbing and dumbest way to kill of a MAIN character. Had zero affect on the story and Naughty Dog literally treated him like a naughty dog (pun intended). You can tell the writers tried extraordinarily to like Abby and sympathise with her. Although, that is quite difficult to do considering she literally killed a fan favourite at the beginning of the game. Naughty Dog had the right intentions in painting the antagonists with a good light but it just utterly failed during the execution. This game obviously had a ton of high hopes considering the first game. But, it's sub-par controls and gameplay for a triple A game. It's terrible story where you have no choice but to play as abby THE ONE WHO KILLED JOEL, not only that you have to try and feel sorry for this abby during the rest of the game. I went into this game knowing the spoiler, i was prepared. But even that couldn't stop the onslaught of thoughts going through my head while major things happened. I kept on thinking to myself, "How the **** does that make sense" or "They really messed up the story". I was feeling more pity for those who loved the original and our now playing the sequel compared to actually liking the game. In one last sentence, this game is a hard pass for me.… Expand

    i just finished the game and am immensely disappointed with what I experienced. The game started out okay but gradually degraded in terms of story telling, which was a huge let down due to all the 10/10 reviews I saw being gloated by people online which i now am questioning...     Imagine your getting ready to go on a road trip with your dad and outta nowhere ronda rousey shows up and tortures and kills your dad and jumps in the front seat and says "lets go on a adventure kid" that's pretty much the story of this game. gameplay is nothing to write home about, this is game is a resounding failure and makes me uneasy about the future of gaming.

    Pros Loved playing as Ellie Combat was improved Graphics look good. (Except for film grain) Cons Not a fan of Abby Some of Abby's part felt force, they tried to make her likeable, It personally didn't work. Guys, save yourself the money and get P5R, which is the best game of the year or save of Cyberpunk 2077. And the guys who are giving this full rating are just vowed by the graphics and presentation, which to be fair is one of the bests of this generation (PS4). I don't own a PS4 pro but no doubt it looks better. But good graphics and presentation are not enough to make a game and I would rather watch a movie in that case. Really hurts to give this game such a bad rating considering the fact that I truly loved the predecessor and was looking forward to this one just to be utterly disappointed.

    A far cry from the first, TLOU Part 2 comes at an inopportune time for Sony with next-gen around the corner. The game is disappointing and weak from both a gameplay and narrative perspective. Coupled with their anti-consumer refund policy, this will be the last of Sony for me for some time.

    Graphics: I think even the folks who have given low reviews can agree that this game looks heck'n incredible.

    Story: This game was a tumultuous experience in the best way. Frankly, I need a couple of hours to talk through and process it. I did not "enjoy" playing it, which is why I loved it. It is uncompromising in its message and direct in its intent.

    Final thoughts: This is a well-crafted game with a complex story. I want to challenge those who did not feel satisfied (and frankly those who did) to engage in discussion about this work as we process the things it made us feel and the ideas we were presented with. I also want to challenge all of us to think about the differences between our personal feelings of a game vs the objective craftsmanship of a world and the stories that take place in it before jumping on a negative review train.     Naughty Dog used misleading trailers which show Joel as one of the main characters. But he gets killed in the first 2 hours. And the way he dies is totally ridiculous.

Absolute **** Completely ruins the rhythm of the first game's story and closes off its arcs as if it were written by chimps on typewriters. Joel trusted a complete stranger out of the blue, walked into a trap, Ellie was too naive even for being Ellie. And that god awful sex scene... holy **** that scarred me for life. I don't mind a trans main character, I don't mind an impulsive main character. I MIND PLAYING A CHARACTER I HATE FOR BEING A **** PERSON. Abby was so terribly put together it's unreal. Overall, the game is ****.

    The last of US Part 2 is trash, there's nothing wrong with killing a main character but this is not the way to do it. The history was about Joel and Ellie, but on this game... You play as ellie and trash. Save the money for a better game... This is a vengeance game without vengeance... 1/10 for the visuals.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lets start off with how much I loved the original The Last of Us, it was amazing. The direction they have taken Part II has been phenomenally disappointing I do not recommending buying the game at all.

    The story is incredibly boring and generic. The game play is stale and clunky, and in true Naughty Dog fashion we are given multiple "quicktime" button mashing events. How can game designers justify this press X to not die "gameplay" in 2020?

    Furthermore, the story is nothing new. It is yet another "you killed my father, prepare to die" revenge plot, where neither side gets any sort of payoff at the end.
    Abby kills Joel, a hardened survivor who has shown previously to never trust strangers. How does Abby kill Joel you ask? He walks into a room full of strangers and tell them who he is.

    Ellie witnesses this, and goes on a revenge mission to kill Abby. Who was the daughter of the surgeon we killed at the end of TLOU 1. This is her reasoning for killing Joel.

    Anyways, Ellie goes on a killing spree, tearing her way across the country, killing anyone who gets in her way, tracking down Abby. But not before we are forced to play as Abby for a large portion of the game.

    In the end, you control Ellie, and are given a final fight against Abby, which is played out in a quicktime event. You nearly kill her, almost drowning her to death. Victory and catharsis is finally at hand...

    Then Ellie just... Lets her get away. You have no control or choice over this, Ellie suddenly believes that Killing is Wrong, despite murdering 100+ people just to get to this moment. Its just godawful storytelling.

    Terrible writing, Boring Combat, Very poor representation of LGBTQ+ characters,coupled with completely unrequired violence (Its basically just torture porn for 30 hours straight). Leads to a terrible, boring slog of a "game".

    The only positive I can give this game is that the environments are beautiful and well crafted, big applause to the people that design the world.

    The story is a dumpster fire and the characters are not who you know and loved. I will never buy another Naughty Dog game until Neil is removed from the team.    … Expand

    Beautiful graphics and the sound engineers did an good job bring that chilling clicking sound that I loved in the first game. But sadly, this game is more sit, watch and listen to what the developers message of ‘story’ is. Characters are tossed away like small trash and you feel forced to continue since what you can about is teased in doses. Lackluster and honestly disappointed in the game.

    Graphics are amazing, the game is really immersive. The background designs are top notch and stunningly beautiful.They really made use of the PS4's capabilities. The small details they added in are cool like adding steam to a coffee cup. The character models are fantastic and the hair looks super good on all of them.

    That being said:

    The story tried to "subvert expectations" and failed miserably.

    Let's talk about the elephant in the room: Abby. The game spends more time on her than Ellie herself. The entire time I spent playing her was me begging to go back to playing Ellie's story. Ellie actually seems to be a secondary character in this game, with Abby being the main character. The developers tried to make us feel bad for Abby even though she killed Joel, who killed her dad in the first game (one of the surgeons trying to cut Ellie open).

    Joel's death was a gruesome and unnecessarily violent scene to the point I wished I hadn't seen it. What made the scene even worse was Ellie in the background begging Abby to stop while being forced to watch with nothing she could do about it. (Ellie later develops PTSD from this scene).

    The storyline was confusing, and at times, downright boring. Honestly? I don't care about any of the other groups in the game. I don't care about Abby or anyone she loves getting killed. Good. I want to see her suffer. The idea to have Abby kill Joel at the beginning of the game was a stupid decision and the person who decided that needs to get fired. That should've been placed at the end of the game so the drive to find Abby would've been stronger, and so we would care more about her before she killed Joel.

    The flashbacks are so bad. I couldn't tell whether or not I was in a flashback, or in a flashback of a flashback. I couldn't remember whether or not I was in the present time anymore. Like I said previously, most of the game is spent on Abby, Joel's killer. If you despise her for what she did then don't play this game. Most of the flashbacks are about her and her friends or lovers. We don't care about Abby or anything about her.

    I can't even remember any of the new characters in her story besides Abby herself and Lev (who is her lover?? Who knows). I can't remember the other groups and what they do like the "Scars" who are bad apparently. I guess I was so bored I forgot what made them bad. There were a couple other ones like the one Abby was a part of but I don't remember it at all and I don't care to.

    On the other hand:

    Ellie's story was really sweet and intense and I wished I could play more of it. She goes on an absolute rampage across country to hunt down Abby, killing everyone in her way. There's not much else I can say about it because of how little she appears in the game. She shouldn't even be on the cover, honestly. What I can remember is her relationships with her friends and how cool it was. There were flashbacks of Joel and Ellie that I couldn't get enough of.

    Here's the part that will forever make me mad. Warning: rant time.

    Ellie doesn't kill Abby. I can't wrap my head around it. Why? We all hate her. Ellie hates her. Just do it.

    That and the fact that Abby bit her fingers off and then was able to escape with Lev scot-free. Abby STILL got the last word, so what was even the point of chasing after her?

    What made me cry a little is the realization that no one cares about Ellie anymore. She has no friends since they're all dead now, her girlfriend left with their child when Ellie made the decision to chase after Abby. Tommy doesn't seem to care since he left thinking Ellie wouldn't go get revenge. There's literally no one left alive that cares about her anymore. Her only comfort is the memories she has of Joel and that empty house that her and her girlfriend stayed in.

    Ellie came back to an empty house, injured, depressed, with PTSD, no closure for Joel, and abandoned by everyone she loves. Ellie didn't deserve this. Joel didn't deserve this.

    I've never seen such disrespect for a prior main character. I've played through the game and it isn't horrible but I wouldn't recommend it either. Buy it on sale or just watch a playthrough and safe your money.

    This game is lush a beautiful, the new gameplay mechanics are very welcome, and it’s done a great job at being engaging. If you actually love the original you should love this. If you a butt hurt misogynistic homophobe there’s plenty of game for you that are devoid of anything interesting and human.

I personally found, compared to the first game, the overall writing as not as good. Additionally, the characters were less developed and relatable and I found myself less attached to them. The story is not only awful, but the gameplay is SO dragged out that by the time you reach the next cutscene or telling point you’ve forgotten what was going on in the first place. Also there is a lot of ‘Go here and find this person to then find this person and then find this person’.....jeeeeez it is is dull. The only thing I can give this game is the graphics and sound design, the visuals are absolutely stunning (but even then the scenery gets repetitive reallllllyyyy quickly). Also I did like the gun animations whilst on the work bench, they were dope so whoever made those good job. Overall if you’re thinking about buying this game i’d advise you to save your money and just watch a walkthrough on YouTube if you’re still debating it, you’ll no doubt turn it off within a few hours anyway. Final note: Neil Druckman and Naughty Dog should be ashamed at not only the game itself but also the way they handled the leaks, the team had truly showed their colours and for this reason alone I won’t even be resaling my copy but instead throwing it in the bin, no one should have to endure this garbage narrative.    … Expand

    Entertainment 1/10 The bottom line is, the game isn't fun. It was a chore to play, with the story unable to motivate me nothing other than looking at the assets was enjoyable. Combat isn't fun even though it's smooth, and exploration isn't an option. My playthrough simply wasn't enjoyable.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
