And the early trailers already showed it was about revenge. I don't think it deserved to be rated this low. Just because the story doesn't follow your expectations. It kills player favorite character right away, which is a powerful moment, but without any real pay-off later on. At first I was just dissapointed by really bad pacing of this game, but still waiting for awesome story to reveal in second part of this game. The awesome story never came and Joel really died for nothing. Main villain Abby just gives me no other emotion than "dumb" and "hypocritical". There is so much potential for awesome villain but nope we get Abby who is just annoying from the start. By visual and by her acts. And they fckin made me play as her character for hours in second part. I was bored the whole time. You spend hours searching for revenge and then pretty likable character Jesse dies because what? Jesse, Tommy and Ellie forgot the map with big huge mark for their enemies to find? Again dumb. I also didnt deeply care for relationship between Ellie and Dina. Naughty dog really missed the chemistry between these two. Ellie choices are joke in second part of the game and doesnt really match up with her character. There are not many huge dissapointments in gaming sequel history, so TLOU 2 is clearly a winner in this unflatering category. To be fair, some gameplay is ok and character mimics are amazin.… Expand

    A complete let down. This story is worse than the last season of Game of Thrones and the last 2 Star Wars films combined. Such a fan disservice the story and a complete 180 from the magic the Last of Us captured years ago. This game could've easily picked up from where the last game ended and gone from there. Not shove this crap down the fan's throats. So happy they can't ruin UnchartedA complete let down. This story is worse than the last season of Game of Thrones and the last 2 Star Wars films combined. Character development is garbage, characters do things that their character wouldn't do, Plots holes, TERRIBLE killing Joel like that, it just felt like lots of luck and no actual story development. Después de haber reservado el juego y haberlo terminado, siento que fue una gran falta de respeto al consumidor, tenía mucha ilusión con la entrega, llegue a ignorar muchos spoilers y había decidido no cancelar la reserva, no puedo creer que antes de todo esto, la prensa estuviera "desmintiendo" los spoilers, ya que he terminado el juego, no tengo ni una mas mínima intención de volver a jugar la campaña, sería revivir lo peor del juego, no tiene ninguna lógica el guion.
    No hubo ninguna evolución o desarrollo de los personajes, no se hizo honor al personaje y hubieron muertes innecesarias.
    Si usted puede jugarlo, compruebe que lo que le digo es verdad, termine el juego y califique, vera que tiene muchas inconsistencias.

    I previously pre ordered every naughty dog game confident it would be a great cinematic game. Needless to say I won't be doing that going forward. The graphics are mind blowing, the music is beautiful. But the story and gameplay are extremely poor. Characters are unlikeable, the story is not satisfying and the missions are just boring. Save your money.

I really wanted to believe this game was good but after i saw the leaks were true and that joel is killed like a dog, all the characters from the previous games were totally killed or destroyed just in order to amp up some new poorly written character like abby. And you dont even have the chance to get your revenge on joel because the ending is a cliche one where (revenge is not worthy) and basically all of the previous characters lives were destroyed.… Expand

The fist game ended with with hope for a better future but this game is bleak story throughout with no fun or joy throughout the game.     Lazy subversive storytelling with more regard for agenda pushing than character development. Any improved polish from the performance side is being unfortunately overshadowed by the needless teardown of beloved characters. Naughty Dog has themselves to blame. A single player, narrative driven game deserves far better than this.

    It is a masterpiece that I feel most are incapable of appreciating at this time. The only agenda I saw was one of the destructive nature of hate, bigotry, and revenge. Love it or hate it; it is deserving of at least one play through. It’s not the game some wanted but the one we all needed.

    Si es cierto que hay huecos argumentales y cosas sin sentido dentro de la historia creo que naughty dog hizo un excelente trabajo.
    No merecen el hate que muchos usuarios le están dando. En fin el juego me encantó.

So it all started about 3 months ago when the corona virus was(No spoilers ahead) First off let me start by saying that i have avoided the internet and social media completely until after i finish my most anticipated singe player sequel of all time. The reason behind that is i like to experience music, movies, and video games my self no matter what other people think critics or not. So it all started about 3 months ago when the corona virus was starting to get bad, i went to my local Gamestop and purchased a used PS4 , Days Gone, & The Last Of Us Remastered (Better late than never right). After completion of TLOUR, i had never experienced such a wide range of emotions from a video game it was a masterpiece!! (Days Gone was also fantastic) . Fast forward to today i find myself waiting at Gamestop first in line to pick up my preorder, i rush home to install what i hoped to be the greatest game of all time.

    i have cried, laughed, and had a minor heart attack all in the span of 6 hours, only scratching the surface of the game. The world is vast and stunning, constantly stopping to take pictures with my phone or stopping to take in the atmosphere and read every note or journal entry i find or exploring every inch of the game. This game does such a fantastic job of pulling you into the world and making you forget you have a controller in your hand.

    The combat system has been re worked to be more fluid and feel natural, stealth is also a great and fun option but not required depending on 1 of 5 difficulty levels you choose. The visuals are incredible even on my standard PS4, no visual errors, game breaking bugs, i haven't found anything that ruins immersion whatsoever . The new gunsmith/workbench feature is so much fun and looks so cool. The character animations & NPC AI are the best i have ever seen in a video game hands down, hell the environment is the best i have ever seen and only pulls you deeper into the world. The audio is out of this world from the in game music to the dynamic range of the enemies/environment , if you have surround sound headphones or a home theater system you are in for a treat (And you might Sh*t your self). Who ever created the in game user interface you are a genius, its just like the originals but still i had to give them some credit, cause its so easy to switch weapons or craft an item to quickly get back in the action.

    The story is fantastic so far and i know it wont disappoint at the end either, but that's all i'm going to say about that. If you are a causal or die hard fan of the original game i highly recommend you ignore the insane amount of trendy haters and experience what will with out a doubt go down as the greatest video game of all time even with all of the negativity. Please do yourself a favor and pick up a copy and support Naughty Dog. You can tell every single person at that studio poured their heart and soul into this game, i urge everyone to experience this amazing work of art. I am officially addicted and will probably play until the sun comes up, i haven't done that since the original Halo as a kid. (Sorry for long post but this game is incredible and i want at least one person who was skeptical to change their mind and fall in love just like i did) I hope you all have a good day thanks for reading!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All I can say is i’m disappointed. They build up trailers and ads for the game for years, a game people have been waiting on for 7 years. They make you think everything is fine the first hour or so of the game is good you get that Joel and Ellie bond everything is nice and you feel the nostalgia then 2 hours in a random character with no backstory comes in and kills 1 of the main protagonist like it’s nothing. He strolls into a place full of armed strangers and just tells them his name no problem which would never happen considering the character they’ve built for Joel. Then they try to force you to feel bad for his killer and sympathize with her through about 40/50% of the game and then they don’t even give you the satisfaction as Ellie to kill her. Wow. Ellie kills hundreds of people including a pregnant woman and then right at the end she has exactly what she gave up her family with Dina for and then just says “you know what, revenge bad go ahead live your life.” It hurts me even more that she promised Tommy, then makes the journey risking Dina in the process and then doesn’t even fall through with it instead saves her life and let’s her off with no problems. All I can say is wow, the biggest slap in the face i’ve seen from game devs in a long long time.… Expand

Imagine watching Raiders Of the Lost Ark with the adventures of Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood...and then at the starting to watch the follow-up Temple of Doom. And in the first 20 minutes, Marion is forced to watch some character we don't know brutally murder Indy in front of her...and then the film's entire second act is about humanizing this character..That is The Last Of Us 2. it doesn't matter her backstory or gender...You've made a character we don't know irredeemable and expect us to care about them and their welfare? If I were playing as Abby, I'd walk into gunfire because we naturally hate her. I would do the same if Owen was the one who did the beating. This is just poor writing choices.… Expand

Gameplay was almost identical or even more mundane than the part 1.

    Graphics were best I have seen, but as some streamed noted: Good graphics are kind of wasted when the game is not enjoyable itself.

    Conclusion:

    If you are looking for spiritual second part of last of us part 1. This is not it. You can think it as basic gameplay of part 1 with hollywood movie level plot and it doesnt really continue from the part 1. Its like other timeline where the personalities are different and none of the questions are rightfully answered or developed that are left after part 1.    … Expand

    I can't do it. I got passed THAT scene which had been spoiled weeks ago and it hurt me... but thats the last of us. Ignoring the fact that it was totally out if character i wanted to move on and finish whatever new story they felt they needed to rush through that quick and painful exit to get to. And so now I've finished the game and I just wish i had stopped before 2 hours and gotten aI can't do it. The protagonist of the first installment died, at the hands of the "daughter" of the NPC, in a ridiculous way in the early part of the game making it clear that the story was going to take place around Ellie and her Unbridled revenge of death, leaving traces of blood everywhere until from one moment to the next, on the verge of realizing it, he repents and lets the alleged antagonist go in peace.

    If you're looking for Last of Us gameplay, good news! You got it. It feels like the Last of Us.
    But if doesn't sound like The Last of Us. The writing and direction of the game is very unappealing. I've heard some spoilers and no what's down the road. I just really don't like the direction the story is going. I'm taking my copy back to Gamestop in the morning.

    Ellie witnesses Joel her father figure being murdered by a mediocre, wannabe, try hard, no good, sook (Abby).
    She gets upset and goes on a rampage of revenge. She Kill's a couple of Abby's Friends which didn't really have much to do with the whole **** show other than being willing witnesses.
    She comes all this way while getting Jesse killed, Tommy shot, she loses Dina and their baby only to spare Abby in the end     … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU was never about the zombies. It was never about the gameplay. I was never about the graphics. TLOU was about the relationship between Joel and Ellie. Throughout part 1 you could see how their relationship develops and it touched a lot heart of everyone who loved the game.

    TLOU had some of the strongest dialogue between characters. The scene where Ellie runs away on a horse and Joel finding her after is an example of what made the story and characters into one of the most praised game to date.

    Then you get to part 2. Completely stray away from what defined TLOU. Yeah Joel isn't a good guy and his death was justified, but by doing so, it ruins the whole game. TLOU is literally about Joel and Ellie's relationship. It isn't TLOU without one or the other. I'm not sad because they killed off a main character. I'm sad because their relationship was what defined the franchise. If they wanted to kill off Joel, at least do it at the end of the game then end the franchise there. When either of them dies, its the end of the franchise so might as well do it at the end of the game then end the franchise there.

    TLOU 2 completely ruined the franchise for me and it's a shame because part 1 was one, if not, my favourite game of all time.

    Being a gay girl I was able to strongly identify with Ellie, especially since I was 20 when Left Behind came out and who she is was confirmed. I couldn't wait for this one because I understood her alot. I think I'm about halfway through the story and don't recognize anybody from the last game. I respect the work of Naughty Dog (although Naughty America is better suited for it now) and understand the obstacles that both the game and its developers have gone through, but I believe that the amount of effort spent should not overstate/justify the quality of the product/activity, especially if this product is of questionable quality. You will ask: "Why do you urge to look at the game through the context and at the same time say not to take into account the developers' work? - Because what we got was their conscious decision, in particular Neil Drakman. If we're talking about objective evaluation, it's 8/10.

    Graphics. On my original ps4, the game looks amazing. There's nothing to say - you can see everything for yourself.

    The gameplay was moved from the first part and made according to all the canons of a good sequel - everything became bigger and better. But the problem is that the gameplay of the first part was good for your time and as long as you don't improve it, you'll have the gameplay of the last of us 2013. But that's a question for today's game industry and its stagnation.

    It's a story. The main idea of a cycle of violence and eternal revenge, though not new, is definitely interesting. However, this idea, too, should be disclosed and do it well, which, in my opinion, the game did not work. All because of the huge amount of "gray morality.
    The sound. Beautiful.
    Control. Comfortable and intuitive.



    And now about what's going on around here. Everyone understands that the positioning and marketing of the product is sometimes directly responsible for its success and considering who the game is focused on and what ideas it carries, you know - that's the problem. Yes, it's an artistic value. I think only the lazy one didn't reproach the game for its SJW policy. However, I don't think that makes the game really terrible. The problem is not in any politics at all, but in its propaganda and the quality of this propaganda. If the game was about traditional values and criticism of LGBT - it would not change my assessment. Nobody likes to be hung up (not even in direct text) with any position. And this is not about homophobia and its derivatives, but about how people feel about another complaint from minorities in their infringement of rights. Even by printing this text, I understand that again someone's rights will be violated and feelings will be offended. Most people are tired of it. Personally, I don't like it when grief-creators create another "Mary Sue" whether it's a woman or a man, because I remember very well the time when they were able to create strong and independent women, and that was due to the script or the author's idea, not the narrative of modern trends. And you know what? The characters were beautiful. Once again, I have immeasurably respect for every person, and the rights activists, among others. I have nothing against who I play for. It doesn't matter to me who the nationality or color is. But please, let us not create a negative attitude to our liberal movement with our propaganda. Let's respect everyone's interests, not interpret only our own. Let us be free as long as our freedom is not restricted by the freedom of others. Let us justify and prescribe our characters. Let's just be a little more civilized.

    With this assessment, I expressed my attitude not only to TLOU 2, but to the industry as a whole. Maybe you will miss this review or consider it stupid, or maybe you will read it and agree with what is going on. Only know that by projecting your opinion/position on the masses, be able to evaluate what it is for and for whom.

I have no interest in playing Neil Drukmann's terrible fanficiton fantasy. I have no interest in watching the characters i love from the first game all of the sudden act like complete morons in part 2. I have no interest in being forced to play as the character that brutally murders the character i grew to love from part 1. I have no interest in playing a game that is trying to check diversity boxes before making good characters. I have no interest in playing through a 25-30 hour narrative that accomplishes NOTHING. I have no interest in supporting a company that runs a manipulative marketing campaign that outright LIES to their consumers. I have no interest in supporting a company that abuses copyright policies to try and take away the livelihoods of content creators just for talking about their game.

    Bottom line, this is a terrible sequel to what i consider one of the best games ever made. Terrible enough that in my mind, it no longer exists and The Last of Us is and forever will be a standalone title in my eyes.    … Expand
