    One of the worst games ever made. One of the worst stories ever in fictional media. this makes last Jedi and Ryan Johnson look like a masterpiece and that guy is a total idiot. This game should have never been made. They need to make the real game and have Ellie wake up from a horrible nightmare.

I returned the game to gamestop a couple hours into abby gameplay and joel’s death and i must say, ive lost all drive to play the game. i give it a two as the gameplay and graphics are well done, but when the story actually physically makes you not want to play the game, it isn’t the users fault it is the creators. Justice was not done to the first game and the apathetic nature of abby and the fact you have to play as the killer of your favorite character just doesn’t sit well.… Expand

The acting of Ashley Johnson as Ellie and Troy Baker as Joel is wonderful. The hardwork of Naughty dogs has paid of. Joel is died in first 3 hours of game but people are mad they don't know the story but they have to post negative reviews. If you guys purchase the game then you have to complete the game then make your opinion and then came here and post your reviews. If look at Red dead redemption original on PS3 and Xbox 360 in this game the main protagonist has died in last part of game then people have no opinions and they can't post negative reviews and make ratings 3.4 not making comments on rockstar games but in this game Joel died people are going mad.     Lo que llevo de juego me ha sorprendido, es buena la historia, no es lo mismo ver a estar jugando por tus propios méritos, tiene sus bugs eso sí, pero fuera de eso me está dejando con un buen sabor de boca el juego, espero el final sea fenomenal

    Not worth $80 (CAD) or $60 (USD). Feels like a really long DLC with no content. Playing as Ellie was boring with no character ark or building with Dina, they are the same from beginning to end with no adversity or change. Playing as Abby was even more boring with 0 motivation from her actions and 0 character or world building.

    Not to mention the gameplay is copy and paste from the first game and it's repetitive with no interesting content to keep you entertained.    … Expand

    De lo mejor de esta generación de consolas.
    Naughty Dog una vez más vuelve a sorprenderme con un fantástico título. Ya nos habían dicho que esta sería una entrega que no a todos les agradaría, pero a mí me está encantando. Gráficamente el juego se ve espectacular, su jugabilidad está muy bien lograda y la historia está a la par o por encima de el primer juego.

    Where do I even begin?

    Okay, first of all, I'll start with the graphics, as they're the least important aspect, I suppose, but I find them largely overhyped. Why? If you're going to make a game that pushes the PS4, that touts PS4    Where do I even begin?

    Okay, first of all, I'll start with the graphics, as they're the least important aspect, I suppose, but I find them largely overhyped. Why? While the game looks fantastic from a distance, the image quality falls apart upon closer inspection. The worst offender is the implementation of film grain. If you're going to make a game that pushes the PS4, that touts PS4 Pro enhancements, and that is supposed to look great on a 4K TV, don't make film grain mandatory. Offer an option to turn it off. We don't buy new technology to play a game that looks like it's running off of a VHS tape. As for the graphics themselves, it's a fine looking game, but not the best I've seen from this generation. Many textures are rather crude. You'll come across many items within the environment that don't even look like they have textures -- they're bland, washed out looking, and muddy, almost looking like they failed to load like in old Unreal Engine 3 games. You'll also notice a lot of pop-in within the environment as you move throughout it. All of that said, the animations within the cinematics are tremendous, lending a realistic feel to the characters even if they're merely video game characters.

    As for the game itself, it's the first game improved. You can now go prone in stealth, making encounters more enjoyable. Other than that, though, there's not much that has changed. If you liked the gameplay in the first game, this is that but slightly better.

    Now where everything falls apart is the story. I'm not going to get into politics or social commentary, I'll specifically talk about the game. This is very much a story that pretty much ruins the first game. While it has its highs, its lows are incredibly low. Not only does it retcon some things, it ruins a lot of the goodwill that they had built with the first game. I'd say that 65% of the story is outright bad. That doesn't make me happy, either. The first game is one of my favorite games ever. The Last of Us Part II didn't ruin my love for that first game, but it does make me wish it would've been a one & done.

    This is my honest impression, as I'm not interested in review bombing. If you come to TLOU merely for gameplay, I'd say maybe it's a 6/10, but I do not; I came mostly for the story, but I was disappointed with the presentation, too, after much was said about how strong that aspect was. I'm unsure why outlets like Digital Foundry found no issue with the low texture quality on many objects. I'm talking PS3 level quality. Overall, it doesn't look like a PS3 game, it does look like a PS4 game, making the low quality textures within the environments, and the heavy use of film grain, all the more jarring.    … Expand

So yeah that must be what most critics did. Me on the other hand, I'm almost done with it and can already say avoid this game if you can.
    Lastly I just wanna say shame on Sony for the double standards on censorship. If you are unlucky enough to have played a good way into this you'll know what I'm talking about.    … Expand

Joel would not have trusted unknown people in this way and I do not understand why leaving Tommy and Ellie alive if they are witnesses, from there I noticed that the story has problems, it makes me think that the characters no longer have common sense and I honestly do not care if the characters are LGBT or not, just as they were heterosexual, this would not change how wrong this story is, contradicting something that was established in the first game. If a story is told well, they don't have to explain anything else to you. On the other hand I applaud Naughty Dog for the technical aspect of the game, the graphics are amazing and the game seems to me very well polished.… Expand

The characters are acting if they weren’t in the first last of us, and even the new characters we’re introduced to don’t really give us the love Joel and Ellie gave us in the first game. However, it did have some minor upgrades in gameplay (except the useless jumping mechanic) so that’s a pro. Politics is a touchy subject, so i’ll leave it up to you. This is (I think) the best way to sum it up. If you enjoyed star wars: the last Jedi, or game of thrones season 8, I think you’ll have a chance to enjoy the story, even if politics were involved.… Expand

It was a rollercoaster of emotions. There are flaws and and when I say flaws they really suck like character textures popping, backgrounds sudden shift and the game is also locked on 30fps that is just sad for this console generation. But honestly it is a must play. Don't hate on the game because of the loss of a beloved character but let the game grow on you.… Expand

The game has all been laid out, and you have to just accept it.

    It's like Naughty Dog spent all their time on the game play, graphic engine (which is stunningly beautiful) and audio; and then just outsourced the story writing to some third tier hack. It isn't intelligent, it isn't fun or endearing.

    I just don't know who they made this game for. I'm just depressed, if I didn't get the digital edition I would be getting a refund.    … Expand

    You can pretty much ignore any rating below 5. Its mostly butthurt people that wanted a Last of us remastered remastered. I'm only about 3 hours in and I'm loving it. Such an emotional roller coaster. Makes you want to keep playing

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow, this may be the worst game from NaughtyDog, hopefully it's not a slippery slope. This Story fails In every way that I can imagine. I don't know if it's due to the disappearance of Bruce Straley (or the 70% of Naughtydog staff). There are times that the gameplay becomes overly stretched out to reach the approximate of 25 hours. I must agree with the other reviewers that the story does ultimately feel like poorly written fan fiction. I cannot believe how awful of a story this has become. The character's actions do not feel genuine as much as it's predecessor, and re only done in order to continue the story, but it feels too "Video Gamey". This Game is such a Blood bath, any if not all the characters you care about seem to have a very gruesome ending in the wretched world. That reminds me of the World, it is absolutely awful to play in, its atmosphere is so Hopeless at least its predecessor should a cruel world with hidden beauty. As for audio, it was done quite well, the soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla is quite nice with a somber vibe. The Gameplay is very much of the same from the Last of us 1, not much new besides the new jump button, the rope, and the ability to be prone. I'm not sure what was going on with the writing staff at NaughtyDog but it seems that there has been a falling out with anyone who criticized Niel's **** storyline. I don't want to spoil too much if you're planning on purchasing the game =).

    This is not so much a sequel, but Neil Druckmann’s little fetishised project of sexual depravity and god awful character & world building. We waited 7 years for this manure. I’ll give it a 3 because the graphics were fairly decent.

    This game is amazing! Enjoyed it much much more than the original! (I don't know who in their right mind actually uses this site to guage weather or not they should buy something, but I emplore you to try it for yourself before believing these people trying to review-bomb, obviously.)

    This game is exceptional. I honestly can't believe people are review bombing it. For the life of me I can't figure out why people dislike it. If you don't like story driven games, don't play this. If you don't like gay people, don't play this and enjoy being a sad human.

As a result, The Last of Us Part II feelsIn what has easily been one of my most anticipated games for years now, I cannot help but feel disappointed and let down when it comes to Part II of The Last of Us series. It's obvious that Naughty Dog have clearly tried to make something for the sole purpose of creating something "artsy" more so than being an enjoyable experience in any regard. As a result, The Last of Us Part II feels like what might just be the perfect definition of a "sequel that didn't need to exist".

    Starting with the games positives, if there is one thing I can give Naughty Dog, it is definitely the game's graphics. The game is a technological marvel, and is perhaps the best video game I've seen from a graphical perspective in my life. However, this is where my praise for the game ends. Not only is the gameplay significantly stripped down from its predecessor (most notably, the removal of TLoU's fantastic multiplayer mode), but the main selling point of the first game, the story, has been turned into completely jumbled mess that is filled with plot twists with zero purpose, plot holes upon plot holes, and absolutely nonsensical logic. Characters are introduced and forced upon the player for no reason and players are expected to like them for no reason. Similarly, characters are killed and ripped away from the player with very little reasoning behind their deaths. The story stops and takes breaks for completely nonsensical moments, characters now act in ways that would make absolutely no sense in a post-apocalyptic world, and Ellie, now the main character of the story, has justifications that are completely contradictory to her existence in the original game.

    As someone who loved the first game, I just can't help but feel let down by The Last of Us Part II. It feels like Naughty Dog tried so hard to create an "artistic masterpiece" that they forgot what they were actually making. A video game. As a result, the game feels undeniably devoid of the passion that makes up Naughty Dog's previous products, including the original TLoU, and it suffers greatly for it.

    If Neil Druckmann's goal was to create a sequel that achieves little aside from spitting on the first game's grave, then he did an absolutely fantastic job. I wouldn't recommend this game if you haven't played the first game, and I ESPECIALLY would not recommend this game if you have.    … Expand

I have seen a full playthrough of the game and it was genuinely the most boring gameplay I've ever watched, the dialogue is abysmal and the story leaves you wondering. “Why am I still here”, the fact that the main character is a Transgender girl built like a sliding door, is not be made fun of because she LGBT but becauseIt genuinely is not the fact that there is an LGBT main character.     Never felt more disappointed in a media release.
    The game has beautiful graphics and surroundings which earns the 2 score.
    Other than the story is utter trash, when the "event" happened at the beginning of the game I basically wanted to uninstall and never play again.     They completely did Joel dirty, no dignity at all. Ellie's character lost consistency thanks to the ending. The story is trash. Great graphics but little innovation with gameplay, especially considering the time this took to make.

    Graphically and game play wise, an absolute masterpiece. I wanted to like it so bad. I was so hyped from the trailers but MY GOD the story was bad. I cringed throughout the entire thing. So much horrid dialogue and character assassinations. I can't get myself to go fully through it because the story is THAT unbearably bad.

    This game was such a dissapointment compared to the first. I was a huge fan of the first game and was shocked at the direction they took the sequel. Shock value above all else apparently, and a disgusting focus on fringe ideologies that seemed out of place in the fictional apocalyptic world they created in the first game.

    What have they done? This plot makes little sense and the ending even contradicts the way you progress in the game. The first game had such an amazing story, this is a sacrilege to those of us who loved the first so much. I'm trully amazed by how they butchered this franchise with utterly questionable decisions and simply bad writing.

    Where to start. The story is just a mess. New characters aren't relatable. The ending is a complete joke! I can't believe this is the actual game they decided t go with. This is something you would read in a fantasy fan-made story. This game had a "woke" agenda.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some seem to think that this game has done everything better than the previous game except with regards to the story. I completely disagree. The only aspect in which this game triumps over the previous is graphics. Nothing else. The first game sure did not have as expansive maps. However, no matter where you went in the first game, there was substance. One I can think of right of the bat would be the giraffe map, where I vividly remember getting very emotional just by the surroundings. No dialogue or any character interaction needed. Several maps made me feel in such a way. In this game, sure they all looked amazing. But that awe factor was always missing. Furthermore, this game, at its core, is a zombie game. There were no new interesting with regards to fighting newer, improved zombie species. It all felt empty. In the first game, you constantly feel in the wedge of your seat when you're up against a horde of zombies, providing maximum immersion, which I simply did not feel. Construction of materials with construction tables felt empty, as you could simply run through most enemies anyway. Not even gameplay triumps over the last, as it just all felt empty and often loses sight of what made gameplay so immersive in the first game. Last but not least, story. Oh boy. Neil Druckmann did not only spit in Joel, he spot on every single fan waiting eagerly for 7 **** years. Killing off a beloved, main character for no **** reason, with a brand new introduced character doesnt do any justice and is simply poor writing. The criticism here is not that it should not have killed Joel. It is simply the the way it was executed. Simply saying " that's what it is supposed to make you feel" is utter jibberish and a blatant excuse for bad writing. "We are setting a dark tone over the previous game by providing such sudden deaths, making your feel unlawful about the reality of this situation" as a narrative tool **** embarassing, commonly used by 12 year olds in their essay writing at school. The first game, provided an extremely dark and gruesome narrative, no less that the current game, while providing refreshing and immersive narrative. This game achieves nothing beyond the last game in any of these regards. It instead uses cheap techniques to force affection for **** Abby who is disliked greatly not because of **** political issues such as her appearance of gender orientation, but simply because she was a poorly written character, who barely had any character building whatsoever, making crucial decisions and drove the plot into the ground as a result, starting with Joel's kill. Cheap tactics like showing Abby exhibit affection for dogs while playing as Ellie requires you to kill dogs is only catering towards gullible minds of **** children. Narrative decisions like Ellie being unhappy after Joel tells off Seth is just **** g out of character from the Ellie in the last game. All of these characters we have known to live and appreciate simply seem greatly out of character. It's just bad and it is saddening for people, like me, who have waited for 7 **** years for what's most important, a good **** story. The adventures of Ellie and Joel. Character development with regards to several issues in the past game. Even addressing the lie that Joel said to Ellie was rushed within one sad excuse of a flash back in this game that lasted less 5 min. The only portion of this game's narrative that felt like it captured the essence of the previous game was the flashback of the museum trip on Ellie's birthday. That's all. I might not have extrapolated in certain specific aspects of the game, and where it all went wrong, as I hope to provide only the general overview of the disappointment for this game. As for the community side, please, I beg of you, do not use the excuse of "the game made you feel exactly as it wanted you to" , is not **** justified. I am honestly astonished by this stance. At the end of infinity war part 1, I was **** astonished that the villain literally killed major protagonists. It made me feel as intended, without hope and astonished by the gruesome reality of the ending. The last of us 2 made me feel like the game as a whole is a disappointment. And if that is the intention of the game, then I'd be better off buying a PS5 and receiving air from it, as the Craig's list seller, decided to practice his artistic side in life intending to induce rage and **** disappointment. Kudos to him for being the modern picasso of Craig's list.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Game as an overall is not terrible like 0s,1s, or 2s. I agree with the opinions of many people that the graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay are top-notch as always from Naughty Dog.

    What’s let’s everyone down is the story which is obvious. That most of the people here who are the fans of the original story dislike it with passion just as much as I do. But beware down below are the spoilers for the story. Those who do not want the story to be spoiled please do not read it !!!!!

    Five main things that ruined the story so much

    - Killing of Joel in the first two hours of the game IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE WITH FUKING GOLF CLUB !!!!
    - Playing as Abby the person who killed Joel who NO ONE CARES ABOUT !!!!
    - New characters like Dina and Jesse are useless, unlike Joel they don’t have good chemistry with Ellie at ALL!!!
    - Ellie lets go of her vengeance by not killing Abby because Joel’s vision SERIOUSLY !!!!
    - The most miserable ending ever DINA LEAVES ELLIE WITH HER CHILD, ELLIE CAN’T EVEN PLAY HER GUITAR ANYMORE because Abby bites two of her finger off from her final fight and THE GUITAR WAS PLAYED IN MEMORY OF JOEL THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON TO HER LIFE !!!!

    Seriously WTF WAS NEIL THINKING WHEN HE WROTE THIS SORRY EXCUSE OF AN ENDING TO THIS GAME. The only reason I gave 6 like most people giving 0s, 1s, or 2s was that the atmosphere, gameplay, and graphics were just FREAKIN amazing for a PS4 game that it could pass off as a PS5 GAME !!!!    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
