Eli broke it.. then Unbroke it.. then broke it again which made the second half pointless aside from a few missing fingers. This doesn’t include the fact that I never enjoyed playing as the person who murdered my favorite character.. Sloppy writing at best.. so yeah.. there’s that.

    I'm a big fan of the series, but oarte 2 disappointed me, the gameplay is inferior to 1 both in mechanics and in variety, and to make matters worse it is really very bad, the biggest disappointment of the year.

    The writing in this is terrible. Terrible story choices. Plot holes galore. No one is giving bad reviews because of LGBT+ elements of the story. Absolutely terrible story. The only reason it is getting a 4 is the gameplay itself isn’t shabby and the graphics are beautiful.

If you, like me, are a fan of the previous game, then please do yourself a favour and DO NOT play this one. It will tarnish your memory of even the previous game, which was a masterpiece. It isn’t even about the fact that it literally destroys your beloved characters from the previous game,DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HIGH CRITIC RATINGS I REPEAT DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HIGH CRITIC RATINGS!! If you, like me, are a fan of the previous game, then please do yourself a favour and DO NOT play this one. It will tarnish your memory of even the previous game, which was a masterpiece. It isn’t even about the fact that it literally destroys your beloved characters from the previous game, but also because it is completely devoid of any charm that the storytelling of the previous one had. The plot here is so scatter-brained that I still haven’t found a way to summarise it. They just went with whatever had the most shock value in THAT specific moment. And that means characters will switch personalities and motives back and forth like a yo-yo. It doesn’t matter if it’s unnatural for a character to behave a certain way, if it provides a shock value, they’ll put it in. So don’t expect to form any kind of a meaningful relationship with any character (including a certain new one they keep forcing the players to play as, even though audience has no connection with said character, and the parts where you play as them seem extremely tedious) because even by the end of the game, you wouldn’t know exactly who they are as a person. Heck even Ellie, the main character of this game! The only form of connection you will feel with the character is because she was important to you in the first game, because in this one she is barely a shadow of her former self. And I won’t even get into all the injustices done to Joel’s character so lets just move on. The gameplay, well its the same old same old. Don’t expect to be blown out of the water in this category either. They did polish it up a bit, but at the end of the day, the combat and stealth aspects are just as they were in the previous game, which is to say, outdated. The graphics are really gorgeous no doubt, but its still not enough to carry the weight of this incredible failure of a game. After all, with the new generation consoles coming out, plus the already state-of-the-art graphics in most AAA titles these days, this isn’t something that’s gonna blow your mind either. So, all in all, bad game. Doesn’t even work as a stand-alone story, because its not memorable or even good, in any sense.… Expand

    Is it possible to get a refund for a digital version? I played ca. 1h and I wont play it anymore. I dont like it, it feels like a fraud. GFX is great, but the story is boring and its not fun at all. When I PLAY a GAME I want at least a lil bit of fun, otherwise it feels like work... I loved the first Part and played it several times from begin to end, but this second part is trash. (andIs it possible to get a refund for a digital version?     This game completely **** on all the ground work of part 1. I don't even mind them killing off a certain someone...but to do it so cheaply leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Are the graphics good? Yes. Is the game play fun? It's more or less the same from part 1, only there seems to be longer drawn out periods of uninteresting stuff happening. But the story??Absolute trash. Pacing is so slow and there isn't anywhere close to enough stuff to keep you entertained with such a slow pace. The best characters are killed off, the new characters are verrrrrry boring. It's very obvious that the new developers over at Naughty Dog cared more about their own agenda than giving the fans what they love.     Spoiler Free Review: 10/10 game play, graphics, sound design and voice acting. 10/10 story up until the first major upset about 8/10 for as long as you play as Ellie. For every part you play as Abby it is a lot of characters you don't care about doing things that don't really add to Ellie's story and it lasts way too long 2/10.     The game looks amazing, gameplay is an absolute joy, and the story and characters are as engaging as you’d expect from the previous entry. It is as brutal and uncompromising as I’d hoped going in. Happily, I managed to stay spoiler free going in, despite The leaks and all the ruckus. Well worth it.

    The Bad:
    Is it to much to say anything not mentioned above or below? no I kid, there is a lot bad about this game most of it has already been said by other reviewers, but here I go.

    -Story: basically boils down to murder is bad and the whole thing is really just some trashy revenge fest
    -Characters: I feel are pretty static and one dimensional I just can't make myself care about anyone other than Ellie or Joel and that has nothing to do with this game they just benefit from their previous adventure. All might as well be stormtroopers for how much I care about any of them as individuals.
    -Relationships: If you can't make me care about your characters how can you make me care about them interacting, again the only character interaction that means anything is Ellie Joel. Ellie's new romantic partner . . . (who's name I legit forgot despite hearing it 20 minutes ago) I will call Token you can tell the team didn't spend any time writing her and she was just there to checkoff diversity quotas.
    -Music: This one is weird, as I actually like the score out of the context of the game, but I felt they using it in ways that was more distracting than amplifying in game, and I just don't think the musical director did a good job with choosing when to play what.

    The Ugly:
    If I wanted to watch sex I would watch porn, the scene feels out of place and I didn't feel it really did anything to tell me more about any of the participants.

    There are several more points I want to list in The Ulgy section, but they would be spoilers so I will omit them for now, my final verdict is if someone paid you a dollar to take this game from them . . . you overpaid    … Expand

Tracing his journey he goes through highs, lows, fights with death and life itself, all to do what he thinks is right, and for us to follow that journey with him. He discovers a part of him that dies long ago thanks to her, thanks to the love he learned he could feel again. To the point where he allowed himself to feel, and loved her so much as his own child that he would rather doom all of humanity than have her die, have him be alone again. Joel had finally learned humility, and humanity.

    The last of us was a masterpiece of gaming, revolutionizing the way that style of game was played, and raising the standard for storytelling and connectivity to the player for other games.

    The Last of Us part 2 is a slap in the face for every loyal fan that bought The Last of us 1 and then later the remastered version. This was a beautiful story that was tainted by the developer's own twisted sexual fetishes.     Not my game I disagree with many of the story choices in the game not to mention the major twist that happens easy on. The graphics are great but they have been waisted. The self insert of the lead developer makes me sick.

    Now then, to sum this game up, I would have to say that the game is glorified torture porn, with amateur levels of story writing. I would rate this lower if it wasn't for the very real possibility of my review being deleted.
    The game essentially starts out with the main character, Joel, from the first game being brutally murdered in front of you, the viewer's eyes, and his surrogate daughter. Then you're forced to continue playing as this psychotic monster that would murder an old man in front of her daughter, fast forward to the end, Abby, the psycho who murdered Ellie's surrogate father has been crucified for several days, and has been tracked down by Ellie. Now any reasonable person would assume that Ellie, the seasoned murderer set on revenge would finish the job and kill Abby, but instead she has a flashback about Joel, the also seasoned murdered who wouldn't hesitate a second to murder Abby if she did that to Ellie. Ellie decides to spare Abby for some reason, but then she has the same flashback about Joel and now decides she can't leave after all. This was a huge mistake because this psychopath who has been starved and crucified for days has the strength to obliterate Ellie, as she easily bites off her fingers as if they were baby carrots. The game ultimately ends with Abby sailing away scot free, Joel left unavenged, and Ellie's life completely ruined (Abby did a lot of other stuff to her like beating her girlfriend half to death. Ellie's girlsfriend getting pregnant and leaving her)    … Expand

I wanted the story to make me love the old characters even more and enjoy the new take on these new characters. But what I got was a bad story with an okay game. I really hated the new Abby character for what she did to our old main protagonist Joel because it didn’t feel earned at all. It felt so sloppy as if they just took this from fan from tumblr. They made the game, honestly pretty boring. However I do like the inclusion of all the accessibility and feature that this game provides. The graphics looks amazing, but that was honestly already expected with these Sony titles. This story is a mess with plot holes with gameplay that feels off and stiff.… Expand

    A needless sequel to an absolute masterpiece. This was clearly the project of an opportunist trying to take advantage of a giant platform. Nothing of value here. Just play the first one and forget about this game.

    the way everything was done just ruined it for me. Such a disappointment. It made the first game extremely pointless and the plot was as if the creators looked at it and spat on it. The graphics are amazing but the plot in itself just made it a game that’s hard to play. I get it’s about revenge but i mean do things a certain way, especially if you’ll kill of a main character like that.

    This game is a technical masterpiece! No other game has ever utilized body language and facial expressions so masterfully. These characters feel alive and realistic. The graphics are beautiful, the sound design, gameplay in general was amazing.
    As for story, I think the death early in the game was tough but the goal was always to have Ellie take the lead role. It's a standard trope, sure,    This game is a technical masterpiece!     Lo que ha ocurrido con the last of us, ya ocurrió con capitana marvel, por ejemplo. Contar una historia LGTBI esta bien, ha día de hoy nadie tiene problemas con ese tipo de cosas, pero aquí no pega, quizás en una historia desde 0 si, pero aquí ya con la parte 1, no tiene sentido. La parte uno me gustó bastante, no para 10, pero si para 7/8, y esta no, no. Si quieres un juego pasillero, deLo que ha ocurrido con the last of us, ya ocurrió con capitana marvel, por ejemplo.     So for real, about the game, just 4 hours in and there's no doubt that this is the game of the generation, great story, best animation of any game from any platform, graphic is top notch if not the best to data, Really is a huge leap from TLOU1, best $60 I ever spend. a sincere 10/10

    Watching paint dry is more interesting than some characters or story. I paid for a bad movie that I may not be able to return or get refunded. Controlling the characters inside buildings was clunky, don't know why this was an issue. Good on accessibility improvement. I don't know why it was rated 10...

To be fair though, it’s not like the story in the last game was all that original or creative, but it worked. I’m really sorry to say it won’t. I really wanted this game to be good, I tried so so hard to keep an open mind while playing too. With every stupid decision they made, I thought that maybe the revenge plotline would somehow make up for it, but the plotline’s ending just made everything worse. I know the graphics are great and you loved the first game, but this game series just isn’t what it used to be and you’ll only be disappointed by playing it. My advice is that you just pretend that the game matches how well-made the trailer made it seem, or completely forget this game exists at all and play the first one.… Expand

    Critics would have you believe this is Empire, but it is highlander 2. Did you like the first game? then skip this...'game'. This will be a 'shame they never made a second one' joke by the end of the year. Pretty much a walking sim with slightly less agency. if you are looking for a depressing movie though, this might do it for you.

    You play as the main protagonist, Abby, for so long that I stopped caring about Ellie's (the secondary character's) story by the time the game got back to her.     She is crazy sick sadist the way she killed him. No human being can feel empathy for her. Its not like he tortured her father. He was holding a knife and wouldnt let him take Ellie of because he was going to kill her for a chance of vaccine.
    Even when going on a killing spree there is no satisfaction because you want to avenge Joel which did not happen. F this game. Worst story in gaming history    … Expand

They try to make you feel for Abby, but horrible failed at it. I hated her, hated being forced to play as her, hated Ellie sparing her, and absolutely hated how a hardened survivor like Joel was done in like that.     The Last of Us: Part II takes the PS4 to its limit, showing impressive graphics along with a plot, soundtrack and sound effects, plus minimalist animations that make the game differentiate itself from others and reach the maximum power of this generation.
    No doubt Naughty Dog nailed it with her

The story they are trying to tell involves a lot of complex emotions. I understand some plot points have been hotly contended but in order to tell this kind of a story it needs to be done. I’ve often find myself both very hopeful and very Machiavellian in regards to humanity and society. This story happens to appeal to that very nature. The gameplay is very fun and tense when it needed to be. I couldn’t be happier with the way it has turned out and I see the reactions from angry gamers about the controversial plot point as a testament to how well written these characters are. The world is fleshed out really well the environment are open and linear which is perfect. The score is somber and thoughtful and I genuinely got lost in the music when it would kick in and exhilarated when it Would ramp up for a fight. The enemies are expertly crafted and will go down as some of the best enemy concepts ever, truly terrifying.

    Naughty dog has always delivered thee best games, The Jak and Daxter series was arguably one of my favourite game series and uncharted is one of the best game series ever made. The last of part II has ensured that the PS4s life cycle is going to end stronger than ever. Congratulations to Naughty Dog I cant wait for the future games from you.    … Expand

    Before everything else, did I buy, play and finish the game?
    No I did not bought it thankfully. Yes I played my friends copy who is currently distraught now. No I did not finish the game for the reasons I will tell below.

    The gameplay of TLoU 1 is meh for me, a 6/10 at the most. Generic shoot and loot survival / stealth gameplay but I finished it and would give it an overall 9/10 because of the sheer goodness of the characters development. Its the same feeling as the "one more episode" of your favorite series even though its already 4am and you have work at 7am.

    TLoU 2 took all that character development from the first game, crippled it so it could not run, beat it repeatedly for torture and hit it with a golf club in the head as coup de grace. THEY THRASHED IT all because they want to introduce a new character development for their 3rd sequel. That is all i got from the 10hrs so that I played this game, its a new setup for a 3rd sequel, nothing more.
    I got tired of playing it so I went to youtube to spoil everything and there my doubts where justified. They did set this whole thing up just for a 3rd sequel.

    To be fair, the aesthetics, animation and models of the game, the sound and voice acting... They are premium quality, a definite 10/10. Its like watching a movie... Unfortunately I want a freaking game! not an interactive movie! And if its a movie, atleast make a decent written story! As everyone already mentioned, this is like the first half of game of thrones plus avengers infinity wars where Thanos collected all the stones but did not do the snap. Its f**ked up.

    The look is very beautiful and the audio is great. but there are still some bugs and boring moments.
    They show us that there is not always a villain, in this case, there is only a cycle of hatred and revenge, which brings more and more pain to the characters. Tommy, Ellie and Abby lose people who care a lot because of this cycle of hatred. The game shows us that there may be another way, when Ellie, who seemed to see the similarity between Abby's relationship with Lev and herself with Joel, spares the girl.
