    This game is a failure on a massive scale. The gaphics are great, the gameplay is mediocre and the story is a disgrace to the franchise. Neil Druckman single handedly has destroyed the legacy of the first game and its beloved characters and story. AVOID at all costs, don't give money to hacks.

    And never trust the paid off gaming "journalists".

    There were good points in the game which i loved, flash backs with ellie and joel. But it was too much of a disrespect to the player to let you go through such **** Ruining the beloved characters, that you will wish that this was all a **** dream and never happened.

    The worst ending of a game I've ever seen, no payoff at all. This doesn't show what happens with a perpetual cycle of violence, it shows why Anita Sarkeesian shouldn't be too close to game writers.
    Graphics were good though, props to the great team behind them.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed the bond between Joel and Ellie in the first game and the ending was great, this game really angered and disappointed me since Joel just turns into a minor character and gets killed by Abby.
    Naughty Dog could have made the story more interesting since they had potential but they just ruined what made the first game amazing in the first place. And Ellie doesn't even kill Abby, like what?
    Abby's father, the surgeon was just one of the dozens of NPC's you killed in the first game, so unimportant they even got his skin tone wrong. Real bad writing Neil. The critic reviews are terrible btw.    … Expand

    Don't even bother buying this game, if it were a 3$ game then yes, buy it and play it. But 60$? Hell no. Do yourselves a favor and don't look at the critic's review because naughty dog just threw money their way for 10/10 reviews. From a technical standpoint, the game is stunning but a story-driven game needs a good story and meaning and this game lacks it. Like a muffin that looks goodDon't even bother buying this game, if it were a 3$ game then yes, buy it and play it. But 60$? Hell no.     The game is not the same. The developers did a great job, but they ruined everything with same-sex relationships, there is no pity for the characters. There are no jokes that were in the first part. Joel and Ellie had a special relationship, and the new Duo looks pathetic. But this game is a technological breakthrough and I would advise you to buy this game, the Studio produces great games

    Way too grim. Especially in 2020. This games release timing is bad luck but the story is just plain bad. If anything positive I can say it's that it makes me appreciate developers that make light hearted games that can be brilliant like rayman legends and ori. If you want and good post apocalyptic game I'd suggest metro: exodus

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My Thoughts After Completing the Game 30 Minutes Ago: Wow...just wow, i literally just finished the game i'm struggling to form an opinion, my brain **** fried!

    This game just makes you feel bad bad, bad and when you finally start feeling a bit better, it kills or cripples one of the few remaining character you care about and for what, a message? I have no idea what this game was trying to say...maybe i'm just stupid or i need someone to explain the whole point of the game to me, because apparently the game didn't do a very good job.

    Gameplay: like the first game but slightly better stealth and movement, not gonna rave about it, it works. Enemies reactions are really really fast, and they'll kinda stunlock you if you get caught out in the open, it can get annoying but luckily you can just run past 75% of encounters (not that i did, but it's possible) with almost no issue on hard so...why bother? Kinda boring at times too...

    WARNING!!!: If you care AT ALL about any of the characters in the first game, (especially Joel) or even just wanna be able to play the first game without havin' to taste the teaspoon of piss that is, the memory of this game, just please give it a miss...for your own sake    … Expand

    First off, the game is visually stunning. It's absolutely beautiful to look at. The graphics are amazing. I did enjoy most, not all, but most of Ellie's play through. It was something I wanted to do after TLOU and I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to do so. My praise however, does stop there.

    Joel, Jesus that mess. It isn't the fact that he dies, it's just given the importance of the character, and the attachment people have to him, his death, at the stage in the game and HOW it happens literally makes no sense at all. If it came later in the game after playing as both Abby and Ellie for around half the overall gameplay then fine, but 2hrs into the game, in what is his second scene? No! Also, this is a man who spent the entire first game not trusting a sole, and then he's like, 'oh hey person I've just met, I'm Joel and this is where I live'. It just doesn't make sense at all. It isn't believable and the game lost me completely from there. Abby is not a likeable character at all from the very beginning. Whether you knew the leaks or not, her motive was given away within 5 minutes of her being on screen. There was no build, nothing, so you instantly had this dislike towards her, and then to have to play as that character? It doesn't make the game fun in any way. You can't relate to her at all because she isn't likeable. I can relate to Ellie wanting revenge for Joel. I could relate to Joel in TLOU for trying to protect Ellie. I can't get into the character of Abby at all and it takes away A LOT from the game. The ending also. Oh jeeez! The ending makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Am I to believe that I'm playing as Ellie, a character who has seen the person she practically see's as her Dad killed, Jesse killed, Tommy nearly killed, Dina bludgeoned to near death and have her fingers bitten off in the climactic fight, she lets the person who did all that walk away? It just doesn't make sense! Away from the story, the gameplay is exactly the same as TLOU, and the one gripe I had with that game is the mechanics felt clunky, and at times it feels worse here. The AI is also ridiculously stupid still. Much like Bill and Ellie in TLOU, Dina runs round like a headless chicken when infected and enemies are near and it's really frustrating. There's no doubt it's a political game. It's riddled with it, and there are a lot of moments where you roll your eyes and think, 'was that really a necessary addition'.

    The first game lived and died by the development of its characters and the story. Unfortunately, this game just doesn't have it. It's a major disappointment to the fans of the original, a huge kick in the face, and there's a certain stand-out moment during Joel's death where it felt Neil Druckmann was spitting directly in my face (go back and replay/watch it if need be, you'll get it).

    I think giving it a 4 is a fair assessment. The storyline and poor game mechanics alone have it that low, and I can't stand politics in movies or games when it doesn't add to the story, but the graphics deserve high praise and that's what keeps this game from being rated lower from me. Will this game make a lot of money? Yes, but not a chance in hell is it the 95+ that the 'critics' have it rated at.    … Expand

    Thank God for YouTube playthroughs because I would not have gotten through playing that **** returned and got Days Gone and Ac Odyssey.
    The game looks FANTASTIC, shame it's ruined by basically everything else.

But anyways, I tried to give this game a shot even after the spoilers to see if it was going to be redeemable. Definitely was not redeemable. The entire story revolves around Joel's death and the Ellie's journey for revenge. But the kicker is after Joel is brutally murdered they force you to play as Abby (Joel's killer) in a ploy to make you feel something for her. But Abby isn't even remotely likable in any regard. But can you really like her after you watched her brutally murder Joel? This plot choice alone makes you ponder wtf were they thinking throughout the entire play through. Then the ending is completely unsatisfactory and meaningless. Ellie goes through the entire story trying to enact revenge (even leaving her gf) to go find Abby and it ends up she just lets Abby go. Yup they did that too. Ellie basically murders most of Abby's friends and comrades in Joel's name only to let Abby go.... The tone also shift throughout the story where Ellie and Abby have dialogue where they're trying to talk things out but then suddenly start trying to kill eachother. This game is a mess. Shame on whoever wrote this garbage and ruined a beloved series. Naughty Dog's reputation is going to be severely tarnished after this big miss of a game. Oh and the Gameplay is the exact same as 2013 nothing was changed - the gameplay is some how even less existent than it was in 2013.… Expand

    A mi me ha encantado, da un poco de pena como la comunidad xboxers y lamecalvas han decidido votar en masa. Este juego es lo mas alto que llega ps4. Recomendable aunque hay solo una cosa que me jodió (spoiler) y es perder a alguien a quien cojes mucho cariño desde el primer juego

The game spits on the main characters of TLoU1 and its moral of "Even in an apocalyptic world, life has good things in store for us", to replace it with a story of revenge without flavor, too long and without any pleasure ... s adds to this a more than doubtful ending - which I will avoid spoiling -. We end up with a nice but tasteless game, with a gameplay that has notA cold shower.     Gameplay and gamemechanics were okay at best, but the characters and story are horrendous! Did not enjoy my playthrough at all. I get what they're trying to tell with this, its and Im in general fine with the plot, but the excecution of the story and character development are awful.     this is legitimately one of the laziest, most contrived, garbage stories ever written, neil stuckman or whatever his name is took one of the greatest games ever and just ruined its legacy with this absolute nonsense fanfiction. some of the worst writing since game of thrones season 8

    i wish i could erase this awful game from my memory because it was THAT bad.

    This is a solid 7-8 out of 10 game.

    The gameplay has been tweaked to be better than it's predecessor. The graphics, atmosphere, music and art style are all top notch. Very good. However, a game like this is made on it's depth of character and plot. And the characters have many, many failures to them.     I won't go into the spoilers, however just understand that where the first game managed to ratchet up the tension and involve you in the characters, this one failed.

    The characters are just unlikeable, and sometimes do quite stupid things plot wise that seem unbelievable - and the characters and plot are tighly coupled to enjoyment of a game in a narrative adventure experience like this. So bad characters + plot holes = significantly reduced quality of game, despite the rest of the clear expertise that put together the other parts of the game.

    And no, just to distinguish myself from a lot of the other reviews that seem a bit too fixated on the LGBT characters, I do not have 1 problem with LGBT stuff being in games, that stuff does not bother me at all and I'm very positive towards representation. But no matter the stripes of the characters, it's all moot if they aren't done well.    … Expand

    Lol did Naughty Dogs must of hired the creators of the Walking Dead for the story because this game is absolutely trash, and that’s coming from Naughty Dog lover who played through all of the Uncharted games, loved the first LOU, and even Crash bandicoot.
