    Slow boring virtue signaling game with way too much unskippable melancholy acoustic guitar strumming and gratuitous armpit hair. Disrespectful to the first game which was a masterpiece. This one is clearly trying way too hard to say something. Digital copy can't refund. Don't buy it.

    Barely updated gameplay from its 7 year old predecessor, an absolutely awful story with SJW propaganda forced into it, and an incredibly disappointing ending with the newly introduced characters just as bad, and replacing the beloved characters (who are eliminated quickly and without justice).

    A pitiful sequel to an excellent first game.

    I like the new storyline, I think it provides a fresh air to zombie games, in which they only focus on the zombies and leave behind the characters. Awesome game, I'm alnost done with it!!

    First of all, this game had the potential to be special, as people were generally hyped for the game. It was one of the most anticipated PS exclusive for a while. While the game received marginal improvements, most notably in graphics and combat mechanics, it failed in delivering one key factor that made the first Last of Us great ; the story.

    Most of the character felt out of sync when compared to the first title and new characters are even more difficult to relate, making the game feel like a mess at best. especially considering this is the sequel of the beloved first Last of Us.

    I never wanted this game to be trashed like this, as I adored the first one, and I think the same goes to other fans of this franchise. But seeing how things have unfold, I really wanted to give a reminder to them that this isn't how you carry the legacy of a game that so many loved and admired for its character, world-building and storytelling. They mishandled all the wait after 7 years like they mishandled their character in the sequel.

    At the end of the day, instead of feeling like a love letter , this feels like a huge middle finger to the first game. And I think this justifies why a lot of people are upset. Anyway that's what I've come to believe and I think that's enough.    … Expand

    What made the first game phenomenal? Story. It had fantastic characters like Tess, Bill (who was gay) Sam, Henry, David. Fleshed out human characters, evil or not. We had a brilliant character development; Joel bitter after losing Sarah but seeing her in Ellie; a broken, lost girl with a kick ass attitude. The ending was what I call a parents ending. I wouldnt let my child die to save a world that doesnt deserve saving. Id kill to protect my child, like Joel did.

    All that is MEANINGLESS. Its GONE. It is CLEAR that the creative brains behind TLOU did not make TLOU2. Dont buy it. Dont let it taint the first.

    Like on last of us 1 the graphics, movements and music are great.
    They did a awesome job on climbing and laying down.

    The negative part (including spoilers):
    - Ellie and the other girl smoking weed.
    - Not only adults are going to play this game, there will be under aged people too, so its like an
    advertisement for them to start smoking. And even if its not the case, its a story based zombie
    game, there is no space for weed.

    - Joel dies
    - Why would you let the coolest daddy figure we ever saw in our game history die. Top of that we have
    to play a character that kills him later. huge disappointment.

    Whoever wrote this storyline should never ever write a story for a top game.

One surprise though is that large parts of game are rather dull and there's a feel that the game has been padded out to make it longer.
    However....the story. It's terrible. The game basically tries to deconstruct everything about the first game which was so beloved without any redeeming positives, characters now make completely uncharacteristic decisions just to facilitate certain plot points and the plot itself has large holes in it. Its misery is relentless and the players are constantly forced to make decisions they don't want to only then for the game to make them feel guilty.
    I feel like I've spent £50 on a game for it to spend hours telling me off. The game apparently is about hate, the only hate I see is ND towards its own fanbase.    … Expand

    Another great game from Naughty Dog. It’s not perfect, but it’s unique and beautiful in its’ thought-provoking story, its’ spellbinding setting, it’s’ fluent gameplay. The game knows when to switch between exploration/action/stealth/story. It kicks you in the balls in the first three hours, then you are getting a grip of things over the next ten or twelve hours, fighting and searching forAnother great game from Naughty Dog. It’s not perfect, but it’s unique and beautiful in its’ thought-provoking story, its’ spellbinding setting, it’s’ fluent gameplay. The game knows when to switch between exploration/action/stealth/story. It kicks you in the balls in the first three hours, then you are getting a grip of things over the next ten or twelve hours, fighting and searching for the wrongdoers, but in its’ second phase the game just flips itself upside down and you completely forget about the hours just to find out what’s next.

    Also it’s magnificent tech-wise, with stunning imagery and facial animations, I haven’t encountered any bugs yet.

    I do not recommend buying this, if you haven’t completed the first part of Ellie’s and Joel’s story yet.    … Expand

    A story driven game with a horrible story. Everything is executed in the wrong order and your generic trading in good writing for shock factor. Joel is an idiot, Ellie is a depressed angry lesbian and there is no satisfying closure. This game just makes you annoyed and spits in your face in a way you can tell they were trying to make it an "artsy thing", but with the lazy 8th grade writingA story driven game with a horrible story. Everything is executed in the wrong order and your generic trading in good writing for shock factor. Joel is an idiot, Ellie is a depressed angry lesbian and there is no satisfying closure. This game just makes you annoyed and spits in your face in a way you can tell they were trying to make it an "artsy thing", but with the lazy 8th grade writing it just comes off as... well, bad. There is nothing special about this game and its a shame. You can really see the effect of Amy Hennig leaving this studio because her writing was everything that made these games shine.     Mir gefällt auch nicht das einige Charaktere nach ihrem Tod einfach aus den Gedanken der Hauptchars gelöscht sind.

The original brought us to tears and was a masterful work of storytelling. It brought a father/daughter gaming team closer together at the time too. That seems to have beem lost on this one.... We took turns playing coop while looking for more story content for the legacy characters whom we grew to love. This was an awful letdown for us both. We loved the original but this one is not for us.

But the parts can never escape the whole. Ultimately TLOU2 feels pointless. It's characters are the weakest element. They all seem created to feel like "real people", but are slavishly tied to a thread of "fate" that feels often inexplicable. The romance between Ellie and her love interest feels most egregious because the characters relationship advances like a rocket against the least romantic backdrop imaginable. When Ellie casually calls her partner "babe" and casually works in an affirmation of "love", I was like... "what?!?". It's the script trying to go someplace that's completely unearned despite trying SO VERY HARD. And that's the main criticism with the writing of TLOU2. It's trying EXTREMELY hard to do... SOMEthing. But just what is inexplicable.

    Make no mistake, people are not exaggerating, trust the gamers rather than paid off critics and bots(boy are there bots in the positive review section), this is a bad game, it is an insult to the audience intelligence, specially to the fans of the first game who waited 7 years to see the game world and all the characters trashed in a non sequitur kind of way, there is no logical sequence of actions here, just plot holes and out of character sequences. Remember how Alien 3 began and in the first 5 minutes of the film all the characters are dead making the build up of the second movie worthless only to then introduce a cast of people no one could care about? this is even worse, much worse.

    Now, the graphics are the only positive thing about the game. The art direction, enviros and 3d assets are what you expect. Is a shame and a waste of talent that those people had to work with such a terrible developer team and terrible director and writers. This is a project that should not have been made, all that effort would have been put to better use doing another game. I didn`t know who Druckmann was, but i will avoid anything that involves his name from now on, the cherry on the cake is the developer accusing people who don`t like the game as nazis and bigots, yeah, like some lgbt characters are enough to make a terrible game good, what a classy act Neil.

    The gameplay is also boring, the game adds nothing of value in that regard, the entire game is more of a movie with some quick time events than anything. So everything outside the graphics is either mediocre to bad, sometimes hilariously bad. Expect many viral memes from this game.

    In short, if you loved the first game then pretend this doesn`t exist, nothing that made that game great is here, nothing that makes ANY game great is here. Is 101 on all the things that a AAA developer should not do. The fact that this is rated among the best of all time by fake critics just make it all much more pathetic and frustrating, this company deserves all the backlash they can get and maybe it serves as a cautionary tale of bad practices in the game industry.     A girl killed joel, ellie swears revenge. She follows tommy with her girlfriend to kill the assassin. It is reveal that abby's father was killed by joel and ellie was told by joel why they didn't go through with the cure. Ellie caugh up with Abbie but loses the fight. Then she finds her again and wins the fight but let her live. The end.
    This game is bad because everything that happens in the 20+ hours is inconsecuential.
    As a character Abbie is never likeable, and you have to play as her half the game.
    By the end you just want the game to end and it doesn't matter who kills who.
    The problem is that the story is too simple and without good characters to support it, feels flat.    … Expand

    The writing in this game is soul-crushing... To witness my long-awaited years for this sequel and love for these characters tossed into a furnace before my very eyes.
    The disregard for the characters that Neil Druckmann had while writing this game is appalling and shows how out of touch he has become with who the characters are and why the fanbase made such strong connections with them. As always, the graphics and the animations are amazing, although the same old gameplay is here with little improvements, and the same BUTTON MASHING to get the next section of the level is still there. But although these issues were in the first game, they were largely ignored for the strength of the story.
    With this sequel however, you have all the annoyances in gameplay from The Last of Us 1, BUT WITH THE WORST PLOT YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE.

    The logic behind Ellies actions make NO sense, the disregard for beloved characters is insulting, the way the game FORCES you to play a character that the fanbase would loath makes me think the Devs were smoking something when writing it.

    The details that everyone speak of, they are in Red Dead Redemption 2. Steaming horses, the sweat marks, living natural enviroment where animals (and there are many) hunt eachother, or fight, guns, clothes and character itself gets dirty, there are minigames and even some sort of fighting system alongside very natural animations etc. etc. there is so many things that makes this game whole, that i could write a solid book about what is going on there.

    So in terms of gameplay, and details The last of Us 2 is nothing special, and yet, they have courage to completely destroy a story, with a very cheap shocking value, and the ending... oh boy...    … Expand

    I'll try to break this down into 3 parts so that this won't be any long unnecessary writings.

    Beginning: The game starts with Joel telling Tommy about the lie from the end of Last of Us. Joel describes it in such a way that we as audience should empathize with the NPC doctors and nurses. I get that there are two perspectives in every story but it just felt like the writers didn't know what to write and went with a revenge plot. So basically that firefly doctor was not just a throwaway NPC but he literally drives this Part 2. Abby is the daughter of that firefly doc and wants a revenge (to kill Joel).
    Imagine how many NPC's daughters would want Nathan Drake dead then. Yeah so now you get how stupid this sounds.

    Middle: We are introduced to many new characters like Jesse, Dina, Abby, Owen and others I didn't bother to remember since they mattered very less or had zero character development. Oh yeah we also have this transgender character that Abby saves just to make us feel better. I don't have anything against transgender, gays or any other LGBTQ community. Its just that there is no interesting backstories that I could get behind or anything like that. It's just plain boring.
    In the first 2 hours Joel is clubbed to death by Abby and we have to watch him suffer from two angles (perspectives) one from Ellie's POV and other from Abby's POV. After this I thought maybe we have to kill Abby to have that satisfying end to what Abby did to my favorite character but nope Naughty Dog legit says **** you and we have to watch this very dark and depressing ending that I'll get into in the next para. We do go through this intense journey with Dina and kill Abby's friends and family like Owen and Mel and others. Then we play as Abby (YES WTAF RIGHT?) and we see from her perspective. Mind you the game is still trying to make you feel bad for Abby.

    End: So, Abby kills Jesse, shoots Tommy in the face, almost kills Dina whose pregnant until that trans dude says not to. After all this we cut to black and in the next scene we see Ellie holding Dina's baby and they're in the farm. Classic western retirement plans. Tommy tells Ellie that the cult has captured Abby and the trans dude. At first Ellie says "I am done vengeance consume me" like T'Challa but the very next scene we see Ellie packing bags and getting ready to murder. Okay so now I thought yes finally I get to brutally kill Abby for what she did to Joel. No, we go there have a knife and fist fight just to get to the point where Ellie changes her mind in 4 seconds and let's Abby escape. So all this killing for 100s of men and women to just get this weird ending? What? Why?
    So at the very end scene we see Ellie trying to play the guitar the only thing she could keep as a reminder of Joel but she can't because Abby legit chewed off Ellie's fingers in a fight. Camera zooms into the guitar with the window behind and we see Ellie walking down the field to I guess where Dina went. The End.

    Last of us Part 3: Ellie is killed by some NPC's son. Roll credits.

    Technical side of the review: The gameplay is same as the first one. Not much of a improvement I would say. The AI is a bit better and a bit harder to tackle compared to the first game. The animations are smooth. The graphics are obviously insane because its Naughty Dog.

    Overall: Its a **** movie with a mediocre gameplay in between.    … Expand

    As a massive fan of the original, I've waited for this game for 7 years. The Last of Us Part II is a massive disappointment. The characters are at best forgettable, while many of them being downright awful. The story feels unmemorable in contrast to the first game. The ending feels bleak and pointless.     I trully wasnt expecting such a backlash from users. This is the best game of this genre. The graphics are smooth, especially the environments, characters and transitions between cutscenes and the gameplay. The acting is superb. The plot twists and character depth are worthy of the best HBO show. I was transported and impressed by this post apocalyptic world. Masterpiece of gaming.

    How TF is Abby even significant to the 1st TLOU?!? Abby was later found out to be the daughter of a doctor of the Fireflies. And Abby says to Joel: do you remember me? Like **** he doesn't know cuz U insignificant AF.

    BTw she becomes the MC out of nowhere and Ellie becomes the villain now. JUST UTTER ****

    But the storyline is awful, because ot just does not make sense in some important parts, like when Joel dies in the begging of the game and Ellie wants revenge but when she kills everyone on her way but does not kill the person that killed Joel.
