It's just a masterfully told revenge story akin to that of a quality HBO mini-series. In some respects being a game makes it a far more hard-hitting and immersive experience than them too!

    You don't need a story to be told solely from the perspective of a strong white male to be able to relate to it. If you do, I pity you. It features some of the best writing and most nuanced acting I've ever seen in any medium too. Really bad , Joel dies in the first 2 hours and you have to play the character that kills him and somehow find sympathy for her which I clearly didn't, then you have to fight Ellie which is the most absurd thing ever ,and then you olay as Ellie and kill hundreds of people that were with abby ,you kill an pregnant woman and torture another woman to death hut you can't even kill abby in the end and you let her go ,what andelluie is left all alone and her worst fear has come true about everyone who she ever loved and cared for has died or left her .joel is dead ,jesse is dead ,tommy is angry at her and leaves her and dina leaves her in the end .and so there is no sense of fullfillment in the end .and abby and lev are still alive as a duo ,whom im assuming you have to play as for part 3 as theyre like the new ellie and joel duo .well i already know thats gonna flop even harder than this one .this is all neils fault.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What made the first game so great was the beautiful character development, the story, the fast paced action. None of which is in this one.

    "Story-driven game" The story is garbage. Characters don't behave like in the first game. Joel and Tommy are suddenly trusting idiots when in the first game Joel right from the start prioritised the survival of himself and those close to him over anyone else. Joel is very perceptive and should have been wary around a new heavily armed group.

    The ending is **** I couldn’t get to the credits rolling because still... Still after half the game playing as mega boring Abby I hated her and couldn't believe that instead of switching back to Ellie they thought it would be cool and "edgy" to fight Ellie to the death. I looked up what happens after and it is absolute fanfiction.

    Out of all of the many, many new characters I liked three of them, was indifferent to one, and absolutely hated the rest. Jesse is interesting, I would have liked knowing more about his relationship with Joel. The dog was very cute but wasted on the slimy "Owen?" and Mel. And I really enjoyed Lev. But he was in the game for much to short a time to properly bond with him. I just didn't believe anyone. It all felt very awkward and there was no character development.

    The focus is too wide. The plot of the first game was focused and split into beggining, end and four seasons. This one has "previously on LOU", beginning, fakeout end, end, extra ending scene, flashbacks, dream sequences, weird time jumps, and more convoluted bs.

    Graphics: 9/10
    Gameplay: 5/10 (walking simulator, weird ai) Story: - 20/10

    I've never been so heartbroken by a sequel. The only positive aspect of this game was its gameplay and graphics. Story and character development go out the window, making the game impossible to finish.

It’s a shame the game went that direction.Joel and tommy are survivers for 24 years and said their names to completely strangers like unexperienced naive kids.After that joel gets killed in the most disgusting and dishonest way i have ever seen in a video game.You hunt down the killer of joel but the best part is you play as her too.You finally come to the end to get your revenge only to let the killer live and she bites your fingers off too and now you can’t even play with the guitar anymore what joel gifted you.The whole story is a joke and i hope neil drugmann gets kicked out of the studio he is definetly in the wrong position.
    Pros:Gameplay is better than the first one
    Open worldish feeling with a lot more exploration
    Cons:Story and direction is a mess

    The graphics and gameplay is good but there is no big jump in quality between the first and second game except graphics. The story gets progressively worst from the first few hours and not to mention the ending which makes the hours of playing the game worth nothing.

The new additions to the series are hard to enjoy and the story is almost pointless. The game also is really short. Much shorter than Part 1 and is way less fun to play.     I really wanted to like the game, It actually has really good graphics and decent game play, but that is to be expected of a triple A game as anticipated as this one. That being said the story was awful, the new characters were awful and I absolutely hated what they did to Joel. It might just be my biased opinion but the story could have been handled much better.

    Visuals - Stunning visuals you are unlikely to find anything as good looking as this on the PS4, maybe Cyberpunk will push it close but The Last Of Us Part 2 is a very pretty game. (10/10)

    Story - Abysmal, if you are a fan of the original and the original protagonists you will find both spat on by this sequel (3/10) Gameplay - Solid but has not really progressed since the original    Visuals - Stunning visuals you are unlikely to find anything as good looking as this on the PS4, maybe Cyberpunk will push it close but The Last Of Us Part 2 is a very pretty game.     Overall - A visually stunning game that is let down by repetitive gameplay that has not progressed far enough from the original, and a story that insults the original game and characters. (6.6/10)

    I love the game. Beautiful graphics and you can feel the emotion in every scene, even when the characters are not talking. The music also adds a lot to the atmosphere. Sad about the dogs, but otherwise an awesome game.

    Acabe el juego, la jugabilidad nada que decir, la historia no llega al nivel que debía llegar, arruinaron lo que podria ser una verdadera obra maestra, una lastima pero bueno, no recomiendo que compren el videojuego al menos hasta que baje de 60 dolares, y creanme que bajara muy rapido.

The second half has tou play as a character you hate is unlikable and most importantly dont care about. The game even as neil himself has always said is about joel and ellie and the sections of the game that showcase that relationship front and center are the best of gaming its what we expect and wanted. Killing joel in the prologue is t what i expected but that choice needed to be respected by the developers. Abby should have died and ellie would have got the revenger WE deserved whether that makes us feel better or worse anout our choices… Expand

    A decir verdad a nivel de mecánicas se merece un diez, como fotografía e imagen también, sin embargo a nivel de historia Flaquea mucho, presentando un inicio y un final completamente amargo, dejando de lado por completo el desarrollo de los que se suponen eran los protagonistas para presentar una antagonista (que su motivo no es para nada forzado) pero que sin embargo quieren obligarte aA decir verdad a nivel de mecánicas se merece un diez, como fotografía e imagen también, sin embargo a nivel de historia Flaquea mucho, presentando un inicio y un final completamente amargo, dejando de lado por completo el desarrollo de los que se suponen eran los protagonistas para presentar una antagonista (que su motivo no es para nada forzado) pero que sin embargo quieren obligarte a empatizar con un personaje que llevas odiando desde el momento de inicio en la historia del juego, como secuela me deja un sabor agridulce, jamás llegará a superar a su predecesora, sin embargo si piden una opinión respecto a comprar el juego, esperaría a que esté en descuento, pues pese a no ser una experiencia satisfactoria del todo sin.     After everything I heard such as the leaks and the TERRIBLE a story choices, I decided to by the game anyway.

    I was even more disappointed than I thought I was going to be. The game (which is supposed to be story based) has an ABYSMAL story, it completely ruins all the hopes people left the last game with.     I was even more disappointed than I thought I was going to be.

    The game (which is supposed to be story based) has an ABYSMAL story, it completely ruins all the hopes people left the last game with. The fact that these ‘critics’ are rating this game at 90-100 is just plain wrong... this is not the ‘best game of the generation’, this is a sick joke. The only reason these critics would rate this game so highly is either they’ve been paid to say it or it pushes their agenda (which this game loves to force in the players face), top this off with clunky controls, mediocre gameplay and absolutely no redeeming features or anything that makes this game unique and you have the most overrated game of our generation.    … Expand

    I was bored playing through this game and was surprised when I had to kill the main characters from the first game, the set up was bad, the implementation was bad and the payoff never came and if this was a cinematic movie (which it felt like sometimes) I would have walked out and asked for my money back. I also found some really strange moments come up in the game like the inserting of modern western political views without context, I do not care about the bickering of westerners when I play my games and felt it was out of place in this game that made the characters unlikable.

    All in all I would say the game is not worth buying simply due to the boring gameplay and the bad story, if you do buy this game and like it then that is fine, it is not for me though.

    So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad.
    The reason is: character development.
    If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her.
    I mean she KILLED Joel!
    How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel?
    Hell no!
    That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning.

    This game is just bad. Do yourself a favor and dont buy it. The reviews the journalists wrote are either bought by Sony or ND or are heavily politicly influenced. Sad thing is: because of that same journalists will most likely make this game GOTY. What a joke.

    Safe your money and buy something else.

    And last but not least: this is technically a very good game but the story/characters is/are SO bad it just doesnt matter how well the rest is done.

    You want a good revenge story? Watch "Oldboy" then you know how to make a good revenge story that shocks everybody to their core.

    This game right here? Its garbage.

What can I say is just perfect. You can't compare something brand new with old one so much as haters there. Personally for me it's 9/10 but for excellent job of atmosphere and a new story 10/10.… Expand

    It is hard to explain my disappointment with the story. I am all for LGBT rights. I think the game is fine in its narrative for LGBT rights -- that's good -- there should have been that deeper connection with the characters as the last game. I also know it's hard to be better than the first game; but you had so many years to make this game! Plus, you had focus groups! I mean, come on.

    Приказната продолжува неколку години од каде што застана претходниот дел, а е скоро 25 години од првиот заразен. Ели и Џоел се стационирани во Џексот, Вајоминг во мало комјунити кое се спомнува во првиот дел. И како во секоја приказна, тргнувате на стандардна обиколка која ќе отиде во непредвидена насока. Од тука Ели тргнува во потрага по тие кои ѝ згрешиле, а со тоа и вашето патешествие.

    Инетересен момент е тоа што ТLOU2 изобилува со ретроспективи кои не се обични синематици туку мисии што ќе треба да ги играте. На таков начин се објаснуваат голем број од прашањата во однос на врските помеѓу карактерите, а ги има доволно и се напумпани со емоции и адреналин. Овој начин на раскажување прави да се внесете во приказната толку длабоко што почнувате да оформувате свое мислење за сите карактери… да ги судите, браните, живеете со нив.

    Голем дел од наративот ќе го дознаете преку дијалози. Многу морални дилеми и размислувања се протнуваат низ навидум неважните муабети со другите карактери со кои играте или ќе влезете во конфронтација.

    Одлично и ненаметливо е скоцкан системот да ви објаснат каде и што треба да правите. На пример во еден момент гледате со двоглед во далечината каде што треба да одите, нема никакви индикатори со стрелки или хајлајти на екранот туку преку разговор со другиот карактер кој е со вас дознавате што треба да се случи и да направите. Доколку погледнете во тој дел ќе се провее разговорот, доколку не… тоа е, останува некој друг да ви раскаже.

    | УМЕТНОСТА Е ВО ДЕТАЛИТЕ
    Совршенство! Деталите во играта се неверојатни. Сите зони, пејзажи, куќи, полиња, штали, рушевини, искинати сајли и цевки, сѐ е неверојатно реалистично. Ќе бидете прошетани низ сите годишни времиња. Од зимскиот Вајоминг, до зелените предградија на Сиетл во кои природата си го земала својот дел и обраснала сѐ што може....

    Honestly please save your $60 of your hard earned money or spend it on another game with a better story, after completing this game, you will feel so empty because nothing positive happens to anyone and it feels that all the hard work you’ve done was kind of for nothing. I can already tell based on a lot of these reviews, and to be fair there are a LOT of them, that the devs are just gonna dismiss any negativity based on these cringe redpilled reviews that are just mad about there being trans characters in the game or whatever. The trans character was a pretty well fleshed out character, and I don't think them being trans was that forced, so that part of the narrative was okay.
    But the way this game just tries to shove the message about revenge or whatever down your throat is such an ostentatious **** show. The players spent an entire game getting to know and love Joel and Ellie, and within the first 2 hours some random **** just brutally kills Joel. Little did we know, we're meant to just feel like **** for the entire game. And after this psycho puts on her sadistic display, we're then forced to play as her for half the game, and the devs try to basically show off and have a 'dynamic character' or whatever and try to impress us by turning our perspective around. 'Look, the dog you killed is her dog!' or 'the surgeon you killed was her dad!'
    Abby is a dick even to her own friends, there's nothing likeable about her. Literally nothing. There is no overlap between Abby's moral circle and the player's. So the devs just kill like all the characters and give Abby a **** ton of plot armour, and just until the very last microsecond keep hammering it into our skulls 'revenge bad! revenge bad! revenge bad! revenge bad!' and 'you're just like Abby! you're just like Abby! you're just like Abby! YOU'RE JUST LIKE ABBY! YOU'RE JUST LIKE ABBY!'. It's just so poorly done.
    A dynamic plot like this should feel natural, and it just doesn't. The message is too transparent. We spend the whole game rooting for Ellie and co. just to have this gory fanfic slapped down in front of us on a silver platter of good graphics and guitar simulation.    … Expand

    This is a surprisingly great game made to take you on an emotional rollercoaster, which it succeeds at as the story jumps back and forth between the past and the present. This is also one of it's major flaws as you really need to have played the previous game recently (or remember it well) for a lot of the story beats to make sense.

    But I did notice the occasional pop-in, with one time being deadly when wires to a bomb trap did't show until the last second, but upon replaying the section were highly visible.
    So for me it was a fun pretty romp just let down by poor story pacing and a few small graphical bugs.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
