I wish they hadn't stuck a wlw relationship in this game because if they hadn't i wouldnt have bought it and subjected myself to the game itself. Do yourself a favour and don't buy it. If you really want to, wait till its on sale because you do not want to spend money on this crap to buy it full price. Watch aThe only thing going for the game is it looks good.     Amazing graphics with an amazing story for the first hour of gameplay, after that it's shifts into a downward spiral. I will say this in behalf of other gamers. Nobody cares that Ellie is gay, nobody would be too upset if Joel died, no one hates Abby because she's trans (she really isn't). When you shove Ellie's sexuality in everyone's face it's obviously for an agenda, and killing a wellAmazing graphics with an amazing story for the first hour of gameplay, after that it's shifts into a downward spiral.     I feel bad for the crew that worked on this game. It must be terrible working on a thing for 7 years only for the writers to ruin everything with their horrible writing.
    Everybody did amazing, the acting, the music, the graphics of this game are spectacular, but It's all for nothing when Halley Gross and Neil Druckmann (especially him with his disgusting self-insert spitting on Joel) had    I feel bad for the crew that worked on this game.     My adivice to future videogame makers is, it doesn't matter if all pieces of your game are amazing, if your writing it's worth 0 then the whole game It's worth a 0.    … Expand

    I waited years for this game to come out. I myself was someone who defended this game at launch. I didn't allow myself to get spoiled when the leaks happened. I pre-orded this game the second I could. This pains for me to say but this game's story did not live up to its hype at all.     This pains for me to say but this game's story did not live up to its hype at all. I should've allowed myself to get spoiled but I didn't and I regret not doing it. I'm not going to spoil any parts of the game but all I'm going to say is that they removed a character in a rather disappointing and poorly written way. The game's story revolves around Ellie's revenge which is able to work. However, throughout Ellie's journey of killing hundreds of walkers and infected, it ends in one of the most anticlimactic endings I've ever seen in a video game. The amount of pain, loss, and suffering all for nothing because Ellie has a simple flashback. If you want to know what I'm talking about, go search up the ending for yourself. There is also a very unnecessary sex between Abby and a male but for some reason, there is a scene where Ellie and her girlfriend Dina are about to have sex but it fades to black instead.

    If you enjoyed the game, that is totally fine but I think we can all agree that the story could've been written much better. This game completely misses the charm that made the original Last of Us so special. Whats even more painful is that there is flashbacks of Ellie and Joel bonding that I enjoyed playing much more than the main story line. I feel there was much better writing planned out but Neil Druckman and Anita Sarkeesian messed up a lot of the story.

    This is why you don't pre-order no matter how long you've been waiting for a game even by what I used to call the greatest video game developers on the planet. You messed up on this Naughty Dog.    … Expand

Joel was a paranoid guy who didn't trust anyone and had a post-pandemic life. Ellie was super charismatic in the first game, and in this second with a face or ass all the time, before Joel's death. Neil Druckmann uses as many viewers of the story as he likes Abby to justify his actions. However, it failed miserably. The last of us to me is like Dragon ball GT: Excellent soundtrack, excellent visuals of the characters, but a completely despicable story.… Expand

The Last of Us Part 1's story was arguably a masterpiece, but this game is filled with a clear agenda to pander to the LGBT community. We get it... Elle's a lesbian, but we don't have to be reminded of it every other minute. Serious plot holes in this game. The gameplay is good but the story is boring. For the most part, you're just walking around finding supplies waiting for the next cut scene. And the way they killed off Joel early on in the game is ridiculous and to make us play as the character that killed him off was absolutely disrespectful.

    A great story is what makes or breaks a game...and I put more weight on the story verses graphics because good quality graphics should be the standard...I'm giving this game rating a 1 because of the graphics and gameplay.     The game is a testament graphics are the least important feature in a game. Because aside of that, everything is terrible, and just woke propaganda. AVOID this game. Horrible in every way

    Now onto the game.

    CONS:
    - Gameplay feels like it's stuck in the PS2 era. Stealth feels similar to AC/Splinter Cell. Over the shoulder view is just a copy of RE4, no improvement whatsoever. Gameplay is exactly the same with the first game, it just added dogs as enemies.

    - Terrible game design. Environmental 'puzzles' suck. Pacing sucks, it should have been a 12ish hour game and you would still be able to get whatever is offered over the 20+hour game. I was expecting that the reason behind the 20+ hour of gameplay was to focus on Abby and her backstory so that you get to 'feel' for her, but the writers never really established that. You never 'feel' for her

    - POOR REPRESENTATION OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY. I know it's a start, but a poor representation is a poor representation and I cannot stress this enough!

    - Story is just terrible. I never liked playing a game for its story, but the only thing that hooked me in the first game was the gripping and gritty story. The story here is gritty for the sake of gritty. The characters are very cliched. Stupid ending that people are trying to disguise as 'open ended ending'. Guys, if I wanted a poorly written story, I would have gone to Netflix and their hundreds of B movies.

    PROS:

    - This game's graphics is absolutely gorgeous. I know Tsushima looks good in previews but this game will probably give Tsushima a run for its money

    - If you are a first time player, this is not a bad game, probably a 4 or 5 at best.

    All in all, I suggest you take your money elsewhere and wait for this game to reach $15-$20. There are A LOT of amazing games on sale in PSN right now and I suggest you put your money on those games instead.    … Expand

    If you are a big fan of the first game, I wouldn't recommend you playing this one. The story takes a completely wrong direction which I personally do not appreciate to the slightest.

This is just plain bad writing in general and why would they think that players would root for this new character who just kill one of the main characters and play as that character??
    What the **** Don't believe the critic reviews and the hype. This game is nothing but a highly budgeted fanfiction.
    I would like to pretend this game did not exist.

    Is not absolutely possible to compare with the first one....it's a shame even because in 2020 could was one of the best for ps4 and the homosexuality is useless for push a game in the shop.....we need a different type of idea in a game

    Gameplay and tech are excellent just like the attention to details. I really like the fluidity of it all and the sadist part in me enjoys the brutality of the combat. The gameplay loop is really great just like the AI. Once again though normal aiming is not working for naughty dog. As far as the story goes.. about 15 hours in it's engaging with lots of strong moments and in the end it will give you a good lesson for all the poor video game npcs you murdered throughout your gaming years. Granted you will have killed a few hundreds more throughout the story.… Expand

    The only point I can give it is for graphics. Games mechanics are the same except for jumping. But the story is just awful. What they did to Joel is unforgivable. Will be the last naughty dog I will ever buy

The motivations of the characters aren't present and by the end you feel like this entire game was pointless and doesn't need to exist. The Last of Us Part 2 tries to do new things however, there is too many characters for Neil or any other writers to make them interesting or cared for if they die or not.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The long swaited sequel to one of the best games of 2013. Druckman takes a golf club to the characters who you grew to love. They are completely wasted and spat on in Druckmans 1 man reign of terror on the male patriarchy, I mean sequel. I wont deny this game the credit it deserves for how visually oustanding it looks, especially in 4k, the world around you looks absolutley stunning. But unfortunately thats the only stunning feature that can be found in this game. A typical revenge plot line that is lost in itself with the 20000 characters that it introduces and tries desperatley to make relevant to an already established storyline. Closure was the one thing I was seeking out of this sequel. The first game ends with a cliff hanger that leaves it much to the players own interpretation. Joel lies to Ellie and we are shown that Ellie knows that there is something that Joel is not telling us. Cut forward 4 years we have Ellie who is much older and a lesbian. The only closure we receive is through vietnam guitar flashbacks of Joel and Ellie. The only thing I got from this game that has given me some sense of fullfilment is the 5 minute scene mid game where Ellie confronts Joel in a flashback where she forces Joel to tell her the truth about the fireflies and what really happened while she was unconcious in the surgery room. The remainder of present day interactions showcase a rocky and abrupt relationship between Joel and Ellie that is only explained during flashback sequences as you reluctantly force yourself to progress with the main story. The only slight glimmer of Joel and Ellie that we see is one other 5 minute sequence where Joel and talk after their fallout, where Joel tell hers that if he could go back, he would do it all again and ellie half forgiving him for what he did. Im not going to even touch on the ridiculous exposition and complete deviation with Dina and Ellies coming of age teen pregnancy lesbian relationship that was nothing but mundane and boring. 2 hours into the game Joel gets fkn Murked by Abby, a girl man who seeks revenge on Joel becuase Joel kills her dad... who was some random NPC in the first game and suddenly a sequels entire plot is spun around this fact ? This game is riddled with social justice micro agressions, but that isnt why this game is bad in my opinion. This game has very poor, contrived writing that is desperatley trying to prove a point to it's audience. Its forced and extremely unconvincing. This a very big step down from it's predecessor. What makes this all come full circle is that the message behind this revenge story is that "revenge is bad m'kay". A 25 hour stretched out story that could have been honestly 11-13 hours long witout losing its depth. The game makes an extreme U-Turn when we switch focus from Ellie to Abby. Abby is the Main Character of the sequel, the game has just forced this completely new and irrelevant character on us and is trying very desperatley to force its player to sympathise with her/him by subjecting you to almost 15 hours of cringe dialogue and character exposition through ill timed interactive set pieces. The big point behind this entire plot was "breaking the cycle of violence" now the problem that I have with this is, in your quest for vengance, Ellie single handidly murders a ton of people including pregnant women. You basically leave a mass grave of bodies in your wake but when you finally confront the antagonist, the entire 25 hours you have sunk into this garbage heap goes to absolute waste as the final showdown ends in a half assed fist fight and a moraly confilicting self existential crisis. You let Abby live and suddenly Ellie DeGeneres realises after months of taking names and torturing people that suddenly she can possess the moral highground by deciding after murking 999 people, that the 1000th person is when she wants to "break the cycle of violence". The one person this revenge story leads to, is the one and only person that is spared due to moral conflict.... Gameplay can never be the redeeming factor when the story is this bad. This game fkd up when it started implementing things that the community didnt want inorder to satisy those who don't play.

    Graphically and technically amazing as can be expected by ND. Unfortunately the amazing job the graphics team did is completely negated by the terrible story and dusted gameplay. Loved the first game, especially Joel's and Ellie's relationship and enjoyed the DLC to that as well. However, video games are entertainment and escapism for me, for everyone else who feels like that - think hardGraphically and technically amazing as can be expected by ND. Unfortunately the amazing job the graphics team did is completely negated by the terrible story and dusted gameplay.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll start of with the good things about the game. The Graphics are one of the most beautiful things to exist in Gaming History. The Gameplay is just as good as the graphics in my opinion. Ellie’s athleticism’s is key to making the game fresh and interesting. Also the new enemies brought into the game make the game more exciting and terrifying like the Shambler, who can cut off escape routes forcing the player into a one on one combat in order to progress to the next location or the return of the Stalkers who are more scarier than ever with their smart moving, hiding from Ellie’s listening ability and also their pack mentality. Also worth noting is that the game has the most brutal combat and shooting animations I’ve ever seen in a game. Now I will come to the bad part. The story telling is the biggest let down in gaming history. We’ve waited for this sequel for over 6 years ever since the first game came out in 2013 and this is what we got. Everything at the start of the game is perfect, but as soon as it came to the part where Joel was brutally murdered in one of the most disrespectful ways possible, it all went downhill from there. I don’t understand how Joel went from being smart in the first game to just plain retarded in the second by walking right into an ambush. Maybe if Abby saved Joel instead of Joel saving Abby, it would’ve made more sense for Joel to let down his guard down because of his thankfulness towards Abby for saving his life. And then there is Abby who’s even more dumber than Joel by leaving Ellie and Tommy alive. Tommy already notified the group by telling them that he is Joel’s brother and Ellie’s reaction towards Joel being beaten to death with a club is also a big hint, also notifying that Ellie cares about Joel. Remember in the first game when Joel killed Marlene because he knew, if he had left her alive, she would just come after them. That made sense but Abbys decision didn’t. Now that I’ve said what had to be said, lets progress further in the game. Ellie ends up knowing what happened in the Firefly hospital and is mad at Joel. This game could’ve been about forgiveness instead of revenge. Ellie trying to forgive Joel for what he has selfishly done to mankind, but instead Naughtydog killed of Joel and then explained her actions later on in the game. It would’ve been better for her backstory to get explained first, for everything to then lead up to her revenge. We could’ve then understand her reasons for her revenge and the killing of Joel would’ve made more sense. Naughtydog has the chance to make this game all about forgiveness but they blew it. It feels like Neil Druckmann never wrote this game and was written by another writer that had no clue what happened in the first game. But what angers me the most but also makes sense a little bit is at the end of the game. Ellie had the chance to kill Abby... She could’ve gotten REVENGE which was the main theme of this game but in the end she didn’t? The only possible way I could think about Ellie not deciding to kill Abby after what she did was because the cycle of revenge would just go in a circle. If she killed Abby, the cycle would just continue with Lev trying to kill Ellie that is if Ellie left him alive. So that I could understand and the last part of the ending where Ellie returns back home just to see her now family gone and her packing out Joel’s guitar and being unable to play it due to Abby biting off her two fingers all leads up to her leaving the house is a big part to the story. She’s leaving her memory of Joel in the past. Then it just cuts to her leaving the farmhouse and Joel’s guitar just sitting there. I really wish Naughtydog could’ve cut the scene to Ellie coming back to Jackson and also lying like Joel did, by saying she killed abby. Then it cuts to a black screen and the game ends. I really wish Naughtydog could’ve made this story about forgiveness. I hope TLOU gets a third part where we play both Lev and JJ and they both develop a friendship.… Expand

The gameplay is similar to the first Last of Us game, and due to certain elements, the gameplay clashes with the storytelling, and thus the player loses immersion. And at times the motivation to keep playing

    What completely ruins the game is the nonsensical story and what they did to the characters.
    Joel, the protagonist of the first Last of Us is killed off within a few hours and is left as nothing more than a flashback character to refer to when needed to push the narrative. Everything he managed to achieve from his decisions are now thrown away in this game.

    Ellie as a playable character has many times clashed against the story's narrative. At times murdering enemies left and right through whatever tactics during the game, and yet becomes almost traumatized from one particular murder. At the end of the game, she has the opportunity to kill Abby in a final fight and yet somehow lets her go. The murderer of her foster father. And she loses everything in the end and becomes alone like she feared in the first Last of Us game.

    Abby by far as a playable character is the most hated due to many reasons. Her character design is the symbol of how SJW agenda wishes for female characters to look and act. A somewhat masculine female face on a masculine male-like body where no female sexuality can be seen. She does not even look like a girl and more like a male character. Her character is immediately hated due to the fact that she herself is the murderer of Joel. The story as the game progresses tries to shed some light on her character but it barely makes her less hated. Her sex scene is cringe-inducing and her character model makes it look like 2 guys are doing the deed with each other. Due to the her first act in the first few hours, players do not wish to emphasize with Abby, they will hate her, and they will not listen to why she did things. Her existence in the game isn't justified besides the weak premise of her own revenge, and it was achieved at the first few hours of the game.

    There are other questionable decisions done like one character having her character model look less sexualized by reducing her breast size compared to her real-life counterpart. And other such things that make the trailers from before nothing but lies.

    This game is a bait and switch, where the trailers lead us to believe that we would get another story about Joel and Ellie and their relationship as they deal with the theme of revenge. Instead, what we get is very poor storytelling similar to The Last Jedi and Terminator: Dark Fate where they kill off a beloved character for the sake of pushing the new "protagonist." All for the sake of SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS.

    Inclusion is not bad, but it becomes bad when forced like how it was in this game. There were certain points in the game where this doesn't make sense to add. One such character proclaims being a different gender would have been fine in any other setting than a world that has already faced an apocalypse and even using it as a point for a story bit.

    Due to the ego of Neil Druckmann and interference from the "feminist activist" Anita Sarkeesian, the Last of Us 2 is a sequel that does not deserve to exist or considered even remotely canon to the Last of Us series.

    The leaks that came out months prior to the game's release were all true.

    To all who have yet to get the Last of Us 2. Save your money. If you were a fan of the first Last of Us, you will not like this game whatsoever. The game's storytelling is filled with plotholes, the characters are inconsistent and breaks immersion. It is a slap to the face to fans, it is a spit in the face of fans, it is a disservice to the characters we grew to love very much from the first Last of Us. All for the sake of meaningless subversion of expectations and SJW agenda pushing.

    Naughty Dog as it is, currently does not deserve any money for this game. Vote with your wallets and do not buy this game.    … Expand

    Everything is perfect in this TLOU2.
    I think it's silly for people to be reviewing 0 because even if they don't like the story, there are still mechanics and everything I mentioned before.
    I am sad to see such a low score from the players and they are probably disappointing the people who worked hard for this game to happen. People are getting sad to see such a low user score.

    El final es muy amargo y muy forzado pero todo lo demas si se me hizo realista y no peliculero... El gameplay, sonido, animaciones y duración son 10/10 y veo demasiada surealista la puntuación actual por partes de la historia... (Me creé apenas la cuenta para dar mi opinión sincera porque me parece ridiculo que no califiquen por completo el juego)

    Eu não ligo pra história de um NPC, muito menos tenho pena, joguei essas quase 30 hrs pra vingar o Joel, o jogo me tirou esse direito! Naughty Dog vocês são horríveis!

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
