    I have seen many people leaving their opinions on the game and have decided to share my own, after playing it. Visually, the game looks absolutely fantastic, the first game has nothing on this ones graphics.

    However, cracks start to show when you actually pay attention to the story, it is weak at best.     I would've felt LESS cheated had this game featured the excellent, albeit lacking in playercount multiplayer back, except they decided to opt out of it this time around, so you are getting even less game for your money.    … Expand

    I recently completed the first part of TLoU and then I played in TLoU2. I can say that from the first hour of this game through the whole walktrough developers will spit in your face with a lot of plot holes, awful designed strory and characters. This game should not be exiting and all hate towards it justified.

    7 years, for this. Turns out it all was for nothing. The gameplay, voice acting, graphics, sound design, and soundtrack are fantastic, top tier. However, the story, holy hell it's awful. Take every character from the first game and just switch them, make them do things they wouldn't in the first game for the sake of it. Without getting into spoilers, which I believe you should because it's7 years, for this. Turns out it all was for nothing. The gameplay, voice acting, graphics, sound design, and soundtrack are fantastic, top tier. However, the story, holy hell it's awful. Take every character from the first game and just switch them, make them do things they wouldn't in the first game for the sake of it. Without getting into spoilers, which I believe you should because it's worth spoiling your self just so you don't have to play this. Anybody who loved or just enjoyed the characters/story in the first game has a high chance of disliking this. If you're new and for some reason randomly playing this and not the first, sure maybe it's good if you have no idea about the characters. Even with the weird and downright cringe dialogue but I was hoping the combat and overall production of the game would maybe make it easier but it didn't because I was so frustrated with the story. If anything it made it worse, because of how great this game could've been with a solid story.

    It's so disappointing Druckmann went the "subvert expectations" dumpster fire route. People wanted more of what made the first game so good but no. Also, the false advertising, model swapping is gross. If there's a part 3, I won't be buying.

    This game is NOT a 0 but ffs it is NOT a 8 either. Just the story and characters development alone is enough to take off 3 points.

    This is why fans are angry, this effin **** of a story and a treatment of characters we got to know in the last game.
    For what? a tumbler story? Are you serious? This is what we got? Are you insane?

    I will not spoil anything but DO NOT buy this game.
    The first one ended well enough, this just trashes everything.
    Talk about dumpster fire.

    The gameplay is nearly the exact same as the first game, the visuals are good, and the story is absolute garbage. It's the worst way I've wasted $60, and I bought Fallout 76 on launch.

I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did in my roughly 20 hours of playing it.     Ive seen indie games with better character development, this game is terrible and I don't know how they honestly though it would live up to TLOU1's standards with game play and writing. How this game has nearly a perfect critic score baffles me and reminds me never to listen to what they say.

    Politics and trends should not have influence on art! The topic in the first game was very different than that in the second game. The name of the game should be changed, because it is not follow-up of the previous game.

It was actually they who had concreted stories down for both of those game before leaving (or being kicked out of in certain cases) Naughty Dog.

    With them gone and giving no more input into Naughty Dog's games, it's clear how far the company has fallen from grace. This was a company I grew up with. Crash, Jak & Daxter, Uncharted, TLOU... This new game is completely out of character for a once well respected studio. Even more so, it's come to light that under Neil's direction, crunch is brutal, expression of different beliefs than his have been aggressively denied, and the company tries to shut up those who leave the company through illegal NDAs.

    If this is what 7 years can produce under a one hit wonder and egocentric man like Neil Druckmann, I fear Naughty Dog will never be seen like how they use to; with respect and gratitude.

    In short, this was a horribly written game on the same level of teenage fan fiction, and I don't recommend it to anyone.    … Expand

I really wanted this game to be good. it looks and and sounds amazing. even though the gameplay is average at best i was willing to be fine with it as long as the story is going to be good , but sadly i got proven wrong in the first hours of the game. i seriously am so sad and disappointed by the story. i haven't been this disappointed since Artifact's reveal (i thought itSpoilers ahead. I really wanted this game to be good. it looks and and sounds amazing. even though the gameplay is average at best i was willing to be fine with it as long as the story is going to be good , but sadly i got proven wrong in the first hours of the game. i seriously am so sad and disappointed by the story. i haven't been this disappointed since Artifact's reveal (i thought it would be half life 3 :( ) but the game destroys your enjoyment in literally the first 3 hours of the game. by killing Joel. im not saying Joel should've 100% lived. But if you're going to kill a character that literally everyone cares about and loves. send him off in a good way. But nope , his death is rather a waste and nothing comes out of it , and its just a way of showing you how they really wanted to **** on the character. not only that , but the way he's treated by Ellie in the game is just sad. I've never hated a game so much as much as this one , i feel like it was just made to piss you off. overall all i gotta say is play it if you never played the first and don't care about the story. But if you were a huge fan of the first one and expected a great sequel. then stay the **** away from this one. 5/10. **** this game.… Expand

    Worst game I've ever played. The story is interesting for sure, and it could've been great if it was executed properly (unlike Joel). Would be a decent B-movie, but as a game its awful and uninspired.

The game is pretty good the combat is **** amazing and the story is alright its a vengence story nothing too good but people hate the game for 2 reasons the first one is that its a ps4 exculisive and people dont like that so they put bad ratings the second reason is the scene where joel dies its a sad scene and people are mad becuase joels death wasnt amazing like arthur morgans death but I think thats the poin abby kills joel in the worst way possible so you could hate abby just like ellie does becuase lets be honest we all cursed at abby when she was killing joel and jiels death is supposesd to be like that becuase this world isnt disnyland nobody is going to have a peaceful death… Expand

The game tries to reinvent a way of telling a story (just like the first), and in my opinion it succeeds, they make you hate abby with all your strength, so that in the middle of the game you control her and see her side , realizing that his revenge did not work, and that Jeol was also wrong.     Im so happy i didnt buy this abomination of a game and i definitely recommend u to not buy it too,just watch the playthroughs the gameplay is absolute ass so the game is “Story focused”but there is a tiny problem...its like the story tries to actively piss you off times after times again,not really in a meaningful way too just pissing you off for the sake of it an absolute abysmal game

    A brilliant game. Follows the trend of “the sequel is darker” for what was already a pretty dark game. Not for everyone as it isn’t exactly filled with optimism but I thought it was a great continuation for one of the best games ever released.

    Last of Us part II throws literally the everything away that was established in the first game. The gameplay itself is okay, however last of us part II has THE WORST STORY I’ve ever seen. Neil Druckman simply isn’t as talented as many think he is.

    If you liked the first game, you will like this game as well. Tense situations, exhilarating gameplay. All with the polish you can expect from a naughty dog game. I'm about ten hours in now and absolutely love the game!

    My huge respect and condolences to all the technical specialists, game designers ets who created this game. You really did a great job. But all your efforts was ruined and covered with sh...t. I beg you all to never deal with this studio or people like Neil Suckman. Just leave it and create smth on your own.

    Ruined franchise by an almost unbelievable bad story. So much stuff to discuss in a post apocalyptic world and Naughty Dog chooses to focus on an empty and stupid vengeance cicle, sexuality, gender, abortion and weed. For the sake of this agenda, it even killed a very loved character in a very hateful way. After finishing the game, I wish I haven't played it to preserve just TLOU1 in my memory.

    Whereas in the last of us 1, you had all those things. It was the biggest strength and draw for the game. Characters that felt real, and reacted to their situations as their personality dictates. A constant struggle between survival, and finding joy, a reason to live. It was especially apparent between adults and children. In TLOU2 every character is dead inside already, their bodies just haven't stopped moving yet. They are so flat that you could replace everyone with anything else and the story wouldn't be affected at all. So forgetful, so meaningless the entire way through, and I'm not talking about the "main story arc" everyone is raging about. It's like this the whole damn game.

    Even if you completely remove the story, the characters, etc. from the equation the game is still mediocre at best. The combat is sooo boring and clunky just like the first game. it's just expanded on a little in TLOU2 but it plays the same. Also, the incredibly tedious and un-needed push dumpsters/ladders around is still in the game! There is so much useless filler in this game, and not the fun exploration/discovery type like in zelda, witcher, or other similarly open-world exploration games. One of my friends literally dozed off on the couch while exploring some ruined buildings at one point.

    The only saving grace of this game is the art direction and the graphical fidelity. The art departments did an incredible job! The world looks truly breathtaking, the animations are incredible, dynamic, and incredibly varied. Have you seen the mud?! It looks SO real when you walk and slide through it.

    I really feel for those in the art departments that worked so passionately on this project, only to be associated with all the other downfalls of TLOU2.

    So ultimately I give this game a 3.5/10, purely because of how much incredible work the art team did. Without that, I'd give it a 2/10 simply because the game seems stable.

    When you make a linear story-driven game more akin to an interactable movie than a game, you better have an incredible story and immersively real characters to make it a successful title.    … Expand

    As someone who is normally a fan of Naughty Dog games and of the original Last of Us, I feel this game is a slap in the face. If you enjoyed the first game because of the story, characters and relationships, this game is not for you.     The story is obviously the main problem for people who have been excited about this for a long time. I’m seeing a lot of complaints about ‘LGBT propaganda’ and ‘SJW fanboys’. Having experienced the entire plot, I really don’t see that. Ellie is gay; this was established way back in the DLC for the first game. Her romantic interest is defined by that.

    As for the SJW stuff... There’s literally one small issue about Ellie’s sexuality, and that gets resolved almost immediately. Other than that, the ethical side of homosexuality is never explored. If you have a fundamental problem with gay people, you’ll hate this. If not, you’ll be just fine.

    As for the actual plot itself, it’s very good, but weaker than the first game. Naughty Dog have tried to write a scathing and uncomfortable commentary on the so-called ‘cycle of violence’ (sic) and how severe, lingering trauma can cause even the best of us to do truly horrific things. Hate begets hate. The ‘traumatic event’ is very, very controversial. You might hate the choice ND made here. I thought it was a bold move.
    What the game amounts to is, on the surface, a good old fashioned revenge story - but the various intertwining story points and character defects lead to something far more subtle, complex, and dark, with real weight and consequences to your actions. That being said, it can often crack under the weight of its own ambition - the first game was comparatively very simple, and morally easy-to-follow for the most part. This led to a very satisfying plot with an ending we’re still talking about today. TLOU2 doesn’t quite deliver the goods on this count. It’s a much better and stronger story than most are claiming, but it’s not really up there with the first. Also, certain major characters are far more fleshed out than others, which can affect the emotional impact of the game.

    I won’t spoil any story points, but the second half of the game came as a major surprise to me and it took me a while to get used to. I definitely didn’t enjoy it as much as the first half. It certainly lends a lot of weight to the choices already made, but it shouldn’t have been as long and drawn out as it was. I personally would have much happier with a shorter, more focussed experience.
    Also, the jumping back-and-forth in time started getting on my wick after a while. It feels like padding.

    Now that that’s out of the way, the other stuff:

    The graphics and sound design are incredible. One of the best-looking and best sounding games not just on PS4, but on any platform. Play with headphones if you can. The voice acting and motion capture are amazing. The lighting and animation are as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen. You can really, really feel the brutality and messiness of the violence in this game.
    The gameplay is very strong. It plays very like the first game, but far smoother and more organic. The stealth mechanics have been tweaked nicely. The level design is very open and rewards exploration, both for supplies and for getting the drop on your enemies. The levels are far larger and less linear, it’s mostly up to you wether you want to sneak or tank it. Both play styles are catered to and well-balanced.

    The infected are very similar to the first game. The new types of infected fit into the world very well.
    The two factions operate quite differently from each other, leading to more variation going against the living than in TLOU1.

    They really oversold the ‘almost open-world’ stuff. While there is one particularly massive area in the game, I don’t think it’s available beyond a certain very early part of the plot, and there’s nowhere near as much exploration to be done in this part as you’d hope. Think Madagascar in Uncharted 4. For the vast majority of the game it’s the same as the first in that you move through one area to another, and the game closes behind you. It’s a series of sequenced levels, according to the plot’s needs. Honestly, that’s a good thing - tight and tense at all times.

    Final word: It’s definitely worth buying and playing. If you liked how the first game plays, you’ll love that part. It’s really up to you wether or not you like the plot, or the characters’ choices. I personally liked them even though I often didn’t agree with the characters. I loved the ending, but totally understand why people wouldn’t. Play it and make your own mind up.

    Gameplay: 9/10
    Story: 7/10
    Loads of fun to play. You might not like the plot, but it’s a bold risk. A major technical achievement. A bit too long. If you’re still not sure, wait for sale prices. Beware; Lesbians involved.    … Expand

It’s gameplay does not differ much from its predecessor apart from a dodge button and a jump button, my only complaint with the game is the story the first half where you get to play as Ellie where you try to get revenge for the murder of Joel is its best part but after you kill Nora the game does a 180 and you play as Abby arguably the worst character in the game. Not only that she kills Joel Ellie father and probably the player’s favorite character. Playing as Abby was unneeded and kills the pacing which is the worst part of the game there’s fun parts here and there but it only picks up again when you take back control of Ellie the ending could have been so much better than it was. All of the buildup of killing Abby, Ellie finally gets her chance and she backs out because she wanted to stop the cycle I guess. The ending would have worked so much better if she killed Abby and came back and realized she lost everything for petty revenge. In the end this game could have been so much better but the developers wanted to try to humanize Abby which ultimately ruined half of the game other than that this game is a pretty good and I would recommend it for hardcore fans of the series.… Expand

The game looks incredible, the game sounds incredible, the gameplay doesn’t fix what isn’t broken and the amount of accessibility settings is amazing but the story (which is clearly the most important thing) is simply put awful. There are so many stupid character decisions, Joel has been surviving in this world for a long time he should know better than to give his full name and location so easily to a group of strangers, the reveal that Abby was the one who convinced her dad that Ellie needed to die both completely ruins any attempts the game made to make you sympathise with her (even though the game does a horrible job at that and any success comes not from Abby being a likeable character but from the nostalgia of what made the first game a masterpiece), and Ellie literally spends the whole game murdering her way through a quest to get revenge on Abby for killing Joel only to decide to simply let her go to complete the “revenge bad” message of this game makes LITERALLY THE WHOLE GAME POINTLESS. Not to mention how the game tries to make you feel bad for the excessively violent things Ellie does to get to Abby but considering you don’t have a choice in the matter most of the time its just unfair. When i saw the leaks a few weeks ago, I could see the game’s story wasn’t going to be a good one but i thought “hey with the rest of the game i’m sure it’ll be better” and instead the context provided (and the things that weren’t leaked) somehow made it all even worse. We waited 7 years for this, The first game was so incredible I will never understand how Naughty Dog screwed up so badly all I know is that this game isn’t the worst thing to ever come out no where near it, but compared to the first game it’s such a disappointment.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU2 (The Last of Us 2) Is a disgrace to the original game and the franchise as a whole. The original game found light in the dark world that naughty dog created by using clever dialogue and a fantastic relationship between Joel and Ellie. This relationship was built throughout the entire story and ultimately is what drove many people to love the game. Not only were the characters realistic and likable but the journey they go through is beautiful and unforgiving at the same time. The characters are fleshed out in a natural flow and as we play the game we grow a bond with the characters just as Ellie and Joel are in the game. Respectively, in TLOU2, we find ourselves with characters that are thrown at us with little backstory and no development. The only character that brings the same spark as Joel and Ellie's relationship did is Dina. However, this is short-lived as Dina becomes pregnant and becomes a side character that is forgotten about almost as quickly as she was becoming interesting. With Dina out of the picture, we get Jesse as a companion which is a complete disaster; the character is seldom enjoyable and we don't know any of his backstory or who he is as a person. The combination of these two characters ultimately cuts Ellie's part of the game into 3 sections. Parts with Ellie and Dina which are enjoyable, parts with Jesse which are lackluster, and parts with only Ellie which would have been a nice splash of darkness if the parts with Jesse felt refreshing, although they did not and therefore we have the feeling of a much too lonely story, not to mention that Ellie herself has become an even darker character with only a fraction of her endearing dialogue. Aside from those characters, the others are little explored - Maria and Tommy barely appear, although they could have definitely been much more involved characters that would have brought a sense of familiarity given that we met them in the first game and that Tommy is Joel's brother. Finally, without Joel to converse with Ellie, the brief joy that could be shared in such a dark world was lost and Naughty Dog's effort was poor at keeping it refreshing, which brings us to the story that has disappointed millions.

    In the first game, the story was of a typical post-apocalypse game; a person is immune and goes to save the world. Of course, this stereotypical plot is riddled with fantastic dialogue, intriguing characters, and impeccable plot-twists, all wrapped up in flawless storytelling. Although there is another piece of the puzzle that makes Ellie and Joel's adventure unique - only they could have that story. In TLOU2, the plot is a generic revenge story; a loved one dies, and the hurt party seeks out revenge by killing the characters who harmed her loved one. Anyone could have this story. It isn't unique and it isn't refreshing, and it's one of the reasons why the entire plot in the first place was a direction that the game shouldn't have gone in. Aside from the revenge plot being mundane, it was stupid - the character of Abby felt completely irredeemable since everyone loved Joel - no matter how you saw his decision in the first game, and for the record, I disagreed with it. His death was long overdue - however, his death was not overdue in such a manner that portrayed him as a novice of the bleak and unforgiving world they live in.
    In the first game, we see Joel and Ellie in a car entering a town and are greeted by a man that calls out for help - Joel instantly sees this as an ambush, showing his experience in reading situations, so unless Abby and all of her friends are actors, I think I'd rather come to the conclusion that it was simply poor writing. Moreover, we play as the killer of Joel which was largely in the second half of the game - this introduction to a new character is trying to shape a moral foundation for her actions however for many it is already too late. She is hard to be seen in any other light than the person that killed a favorite character which is why her approximately 8-hour playthrough felt like an obligatory side mission which I couldn't wait to finish. In my opinion, the fact that I don't like Abby isn't my fault - She isn't funny or interesting and her moral compass is shoved down the player's throat in an attempt to redeem her actions which simply does not pan out, not to mention the horrific ending of Ellie getting her fingers chomped off and her suddenly remembering Joel for a split-second and deciding to spare Abby; it's not Ellie, it's not character development, it's poor writing and it's a poor ending set out to be poetic but simply does not feel satisfying or elegant at all - They rushed character development and told a foolish story in a lousy manner that paid a terrible homage to Game Of Thrones by killing characters for no reason.

    Gameplay was good but lacked diversity and flare; same with enemy types.

    The graphics are good but the entire game suffers from a monotone atmosphere. The game simply feels like one long morbid snuff film from which you can't get away. The game has nothing to offer other than smooth animation and CGI. It basically bases it's entire existence on animation quality and shock value.

    Incredible game I took more than 2h plays I liked the way in which elli executes the attacks on her enemies the story is very captivating and excellent what most excited me has made the warm relationship that ellie has with very beautiful dyna 10/10

    Enredo bem amarrado com mecânica e jogabilidade boas (generico mas com uma evolução do seu anterior game) , performance aceitável no slim, e texturas bem projetadas e foto realismo muito bem implementada.

    Really bad story.... We dont want moral lessons... We want fullfilling story. Sad or happy ending dosnt matter but a good and fullfilling story.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
