    Graphics are good, but the story not so much. If you are a busy person who just wants to play a game to relax after a long day at work/studies, this game is not for you.     When "game journalists" (failed art reviewer wannabes) give unanimous perfect scores for political reasons, you can pretty much throw the game in the trash. It's the tedious political "art" that "game journalists" would rather be reviewing than games, since they aren't gamers and don't know how to do their jobs and review an entertainment product for the intended audience.

    Después de estar dos días jugando sin parar solo puedo decir. WOW, menudo pedazo de final tiene el juego. Qué lástima que tanta gente nunca lo vaya a jugar. Me ha gustado mucho las dos historias entrelazadas de Ellie y Abby, te hace reflexionar y ver la otra parte, puedo decir incluso que la historia de Abby me ha gustado más que la de Ellie. TLoU wasn't a feel-good comedy or anything, but the characters had a good balance of charm to get you excited to play through the game to see where the story goes next. Any investment that you have is actively exploited by the game in order to make you feel guilty or depressed. This includes whatever investment the player might have had in The Last of Us, since the characters from that game are completely ruined within this game, both in terms of characterisation, writing and their actual fate within the narrative.

    They removed Joel, a man who learned to find hope amidst a hopeless world by protecting the people he loves, by unceremoniously killing him with a golf club. All the lessons he learned and the new life he had resolved to lead are now completely meaningless, as only a single hour into the game he's just dead. While this creates a powerful emotional catalyst for Ellie, setting her out on this story does nothing but harm her character.

    Ellie herself becomes a nearly emotionless assassin hellbent on getting revenge for Joel's murder. This is not done in a way that makes it any more interesting than the countless revenge stories we've seen before. It's incredibly ham-fisted. But the worst aspect to this design choice is that it sucks more of the fun from the game. Ellie was a bright-eyed, fierce girl with real bite and personality. The player's desire to protect her and see her interact with Joel were the driving force of the plot in The Last of Us. It's why many people put up with the clunkier aspects of the game, the story really patched it up. But now? Joel's dead and Ellie is miserable. The aspect of hope is completely absent in this game, leaving the player with no motivation to continue playing. It is a complete slog to get to the end of this game, and you're constantly left questioning the motives of the developers rather than the motives of the characters. The journey has already committed to being hopelessly grim from the first hour in.

    The new characters in The Last of Us 2 have been pretty harshly criticised, and I would argue that this is completely justified. None of the new characters have stuck with me. Compared to the very natural and realistic dialogue from its predecessor, these new characters feel stiff, emotionless and robotic. Some of them are quirky for no reason and in ways that feels intentionally obtrusive, some of them simply have no personality to speak of, and some of them are simply annoying. Abby in particular is a egregious case, since we spend almost half of the game playing as her, before we even understand why she killed Joel. And in the end it simply turns out that Joel killed her father. Her father was a man that was actively trying to kill Ellie, and Joel killed him to defend her. Meanwhile, Abby killed Joel just because she wanted to. The game demonizes Joel and tries to get us to revaluate his character, but there's really not anything to think about. There is no real moral quandary. Joel killed Abby's father to defend someone he loved. Abby killed Joel because she was bloodthirsty and wanted revenge. Abby is unequivocally a worse person than Joel, which kills a large part of the game's message.

    The reason that the characters behave unnaturally, the setups are so flimsy, the plot holes are so numerous and the world is so hopeless, is because the game has to happen in this way for us to be provided with a message: revenge is bad. Revenge makes you equal to the person you have killed, or it makes you more like them, etc. This is a valuable life lesson for everyone to learn. However, it is something that can be told to you in a far more subtle and understandable way, and is something most people learn when they are 12 years old. This is an 18 rated game. People who have no understanding of basic human morality should not be playing this game, which has full-blown nude sex scenes within it. it treats the player like a young child. The message is also undermined because the gameplay requires you to remorselessly kill hundreds of people to reach the ending, only to be told that killing is wrong. This only makes you view your experiences as even more pointless.

    In the end, Ellie is left completely alone. Joel is dead, her girlfriend and child abandoned her, she didn't take her revenge and simply gave up on Abby, and she can't even play the guitar anymore. She walks off into the distance, solemn and unfeeling. And I am left to stare blankly at the screen and wonder why I was foolish enough to have any emotional attachment to this game whatsoever. The payoff that I was waiting for never came.

    This game accomplishes a 2/10 only by virtue of its stunning technical achievements. The game looks gorgeous and plays serviceably. But if you take out all the aspects of this game that rely purely on budget, this game is left with nothing to stand on. Those things are undercut by being the delivery system for an awful, half-baked, virtue signalling, obnoxious, childlike story with bland and unlikable characters, ridiculous decisions, and an oppressively bleak and grimdark atmosphere.    … Expand

    I’ve played a little bit of the first game enough to get attached to the characters and understand the plot. That being said, I just finished watching the play through of this game and I gotta say, the controls look super clunky(not much of a change from the first), there were a bunch of plot holes, and the story was just terrible. The brutality of humankind is never ending, always reaching. Honestly one of my favorite parts of the game was Ellie's Journal. Fantastic writing that gave great depth into her character. Now with Abby's purpose to show the viewer/player that Ellie and Abby are not good nor bad. We are all **** killing other ****. I will be playing this again and again because the characters and story are addicting and I just love the tone. Endure and survive are out the window… Expand

    As a gamer who loved the first Last of Us and was anticipating this sequel, I have to say that I'm very disappointed. I give it a 1 only because the actors and graphics were phenomenal. These actors made their characters come to life. However, everything else was saddening. The story and characters are boring and forced. I can't believe they released this garbage sequel.

There is an active group dedicated to tank the game because of a subject matter that the game deal with. So far, the game is brilliant. The game live up to the previous one. If not, better.     As a huge fan of TLoU and someone who identifies as queer, this game is a slap in the face. This game cynically weaponizes gender identity to normalize violence against transnormative and homonormative people. A gross misappropriation of LGBT culture by TERFs masquerading as allies. If Neil Druckmann truly wants to be an ally to LGBT culture and queer normative folk he should resign IMMEDIATELY.

    Red dead 1 and 2 were great because in the end, you would get revenge. If Abby were to kill someone i loved and i had the opportunity to kill Abby, i would have finished it all and made sure she was rid of the world.

While gameplay received better animations and such, it mostly remained the exact same and becomes monotonous and predictable over the 25+ hour story. While it’s not bad, you'd hope for a much bigger upgrade or overhaul of crafting and other gameplay mechanics, but many remained completely untouched. But theThe Last of Us 2 is a true testament to how not to make a sequel for a game. While it’s not bad, you'd hope for a much bigger upgrade or overhaul of crafting and other gameplay mechanics, but many remained completely untouched. But the gameplay isn’t what causes this game to be a failure in my opinion, because that’s not what people really play TLOU for anyways. People play for the characters and story, which is nothing short of disappointing and misguided in this game. The utter lack of respect toward previous or even new characters prevents the player from getting invested in them, and the game fails to utilize the one relationship the player was already invested in going into the game. Instead they demolish that relationship, and never really show it getting back to anything of what it used to be. Most other characters in this game are stagnant and replaceable, and while they have good performances, fail to make me care about them in a meaningful way. That is, until they get brutally murdered on a quest for revenge. By the end of the game I was so numb to violence nothing shocked me anymore, and I’m not sure what the game was even trying to say through all this violence and misery. What I do know is that I feel devastated for Ellie and deep hatred for another character. I truly hope Naughty Dog lets this franchise die in the pit they dug for it. I absolutely loved the first game, but this train wreck wants me to feel depressed for nothing. Some of the lessons it tries to teach seem so stupidly simple I asked myself if I was even hearing it right. All I can hear now is the ringing in my ears after listening to one of my favorite games get pillaged and massacred in the name of “Subverted Expectations”. Do not recommend.… Expand

When you play video games, you play them to go up against fictional, mostly nameless baddies. Persona games you go up against demons and other personas, God of War you go up against supernatural fodder, Divinity Original Sin 2 you go up against Voidwoken and Zealot Magisters who want to see you hung with insane veracity, etc. Even TLou primarily focused on the infected and when it was human enemies they were so absurd that you were up against a cannibal cult leader who wanted to marry a 10 year old. The reason this is the case is so that games are an escape from the day to day grind and you have avenues to let out aggression on sprites in healthy ways.

    The TLou2 gives you that in the first few hours and feels like a pretty damn good game. When you're going up against the infected, it's everything I would want it to be. Fun, fast paced, stealth based, etc. Then... the game goes loopty f*** and you're doing things that are unnecessary. Killing a pregnant woman, killing humans and animals where you actually hear the pain in the other people's voices of losing their friends, etc. At the end of the game all you have to show for it is everyone who was a lead character is either broken or dead. There is no hope, there is no love, there is no compassion. It's... a very nihilistic point of view. Playing the game when you started dealing with the Washington Liberation enemies started feeling like watching the original Martyrs, and that movie turned me off horror films. So, good job. You created a game with something to say. Only in trying to express progressive views and thought provoking ideas, all you achieved was hate and loss.    … Expand

This is just making a shocking content just to make shocking content. The Visuals are great but after a while you see the same and the same. This is not a game that you will want to replay after beating it.

It shows you violent actions and death of characters first then followed it up by flashbacks fleshing out their history , lovers, friends and consequences of your action. This approach does nothing to sympathise them and takes away from all major story moments of the game. The game gets intense and exciting a few times during combat especially against the first few encounters with the scars a human faction in Seattle. But otherwise, the combat is really uninteresting and seem oddly restricting and old gen even at the end of this one,.Ahh...yes the decisions these characters make are bad at best laughable, and contrived at worst. I would praise its sound design , level design and graphics but you already know its good it's an Nd game after all. But the major strings that hold the game being Its story and considering what came before, this game is definitely a disappointment… Expand

Sadly this is where my review goes askew... The voice acting was rather bland, it felt laboured and not realistic enough. I am deeply disappointed in the shallow story of this title vs the previous. it's watered down, lacklustre and so far in my journey has left me annoyed. It's an R18+ rated title here in Australia. There are some brutal and confronting scenes in this game which invoked some pretty challenging feelings. While this is understandable from the game creators as an artistic work, it doesn't really have the intended effect and makes me feel like I'm being schooled in some sort of morality lesson perhaps? There are some outstanding plot holes, the dead story ends, and some plot points where you feel it may be important, but lead to nothing. I would have hoped that after the years of waiting, a decent progressive story would be the key binding element from the two titles, but alas this did not pan out.

    If your as big a fan of the original as I am, you may find it difficult to appreciate this latest instalment.    … Expand

This game just loses it context on character building and story-telling. I would have accepted “that scene” for the protagonist but playing another character and making the other protagonist an enemy is no longer acceptable at least to say the least Graphics and Gameplay are a notch but story wise and character plots nah. I wished the story would have been more of Ellie than playing Abby who came out of nowhere to avenge his dad everyone lose their loved ones. I just felt that the story could have been better like focusing on finding the cure without Ellie dying. I’m done with this game but thanks Naughty dog for disappointing your fans.… Expand

    Abby is not a good character. We are expected to care about her and her struggle, but the game opens up with her killing Joel and hides the reason behind it for half the game. We cannot relate to such a character when her first action is killing an already beloved and established character. From the beginning she is marked as JOEL'S KILLER.
    My biggest grievance with this game is Ellie's quest for revenge. She starts off the journey to find and exact justice on Abby, and to her credit, she does a pretty good job of tearing her way through Abby's friends and people just to get to Abby. After she finally reaches Abby who has hurt Ellie and her friends and killed 2 of her friends by now, Ellie is on the verge of killing her only to have an unrelated flashback of Joel and decides to spare her because all of a sudden killing is wrong and will get you nowhere...... that's the stupidest reason ever! She kills hundred of people to reach Abby and decides to let her live for no reason. The game tries to paint this as a humanizing moment but fails on the account that during the entire game we are forced to kill hundreds of people in order to even progress through to the end.    … Expand

    It's an absolutely Masterpiece. I love to play and I love how Naughty Dog play with the balance good/bad. I hope a sequel because Ellie deserve it.
    I'm just a little upset on the number of hours on the screen of joël but we get used to it, we move forward.

    Mesmo com lacração e tudo. É possível ignorar, e admirar esse jogo da Naughty Dog. Que jogo maravilhoso, cara! Eu estava enfurecido antes do lançamento, mas vale a pena.

    It's an awesome game! Great graphics, the playability is better than the first game and the story is full of plot twister that will surprise the player.

    This game has an awful plot, ruined characters, forced viewpoints and is a overall terrible game. The only thing I find positive about this game is the ****ing graphics!

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
