    TLOU2 is basically TLOU1's gameplay and setting, with the idea of "What if none of us could make a story without training wheels," - and it turned out the training wheels were jammed. The only reason i'm keeping it above a 2 is that it would be insulting to the art team who were obviously working hard for the majority of the game.     The last of us 2 amazing graphics the gameplay hasn't changed.the story is has more bad points then good.the ending is by far the worst i have ever seen.making the game non- replayable.without the bad ending this game would be a great game.

    They keep referencing the first game but dont seem to remember absolutely anything from it. Joel and Ellie have more than just a farther and dauther relationship. They've saved each other's lives countless times.
    You are mad at Joel's death. Ellie hates Abby. You are supposed to hate Abby.
    This is not a happy sunshine trip down to Lala-land. It's bloodthirsty vengence crusade. There are no villains here, no hero's. Only one's justice.
    Take PewDiePie for example, the game opens where the first one ended and he acts surprised barely remembering the ending, whenever gay Ellie stuff comes up he goes "ew" and turns away.
    Gay Ellie was established in TLOU and Left behind, it's nothing new but now its beeing called SJW trash and political.
    I've yet to see this 'political' stuff everyone talks about. Then Mr. Pie goes on to just completely ignore the story and talks over everything while just trying to whore over the graphics.
    No one could enjoy the story this way.
    If this is the average player base it's no wonder its receiving such negative reviews.
    Alzheimer bigots and racists plague the reviews and most of em probably dont even own the game or don't remember the first one and just follow the big man's lead of hating on it.    … Expand

    I have been playing video games for over a decade now. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, GameBoy, N64 up to this date. It is mind-blowing because I never felt the urge to create an account just to rate a game bad. I thought that everything has it's own reasons, but this game is different.

    While TLOU1 is a masterpiece by itself with incredible storytelling, great character development, and an emotional connection, TLOU2 became like GoT Season 8. Something that should have NEVER existed like that in the first place.

    If I wanted to play revenge with **** storytelling, I would've played GTA Online because no story is better than this piece of garbage. They not only killed Joel "just like that" with an absolutely trash story leading up to that, they also turned a great character like Ellie into a one-dimensional revenge-seeking character that can't be seen as anything else but that.

    The most ridiculous part are the "journalists" that are rating this game as an absolutely masterpiece. It is an absolute dumpster fire and it shows what's wrong with gaming journalism. Unreliability.

    There has been a Korean streamer who's reaction sums up the game perfectly. He put the disc out, got a scissor, and just cut the disc. This is TLOU2.    … Expand

I did not care Ellie was a lesbian in the first game and it didn't bother that Abby is transgender, even though it feels a bit forced. My problem is that everything that had a meaning in the first game, doesn't have one anymore in this one. I feel like Neil just gave us a huge slap in the face with Joel's unnecessary death and how pointless it was. This game made want to quit when we were forced to play as Abby right after killing Joel and the having to fight Ellie. The ending was the worst I've ever experienced and made me feel like Ellie's entire journey had no meaning after forgiving Abby for literally killing everything she loved and letting her go. I'm tremendously disappointed and heartbroken. The jump button was basically useless and the visuals were fantastic, which saddly is the only good thing about this game.

    The last of us should never have had a sequel, not like this.

    My experience with the Last of Us has been great. The opening scenes and first 3 hours of the story have my full attention. From the intense atmosphere, music, and controls, the entire game feels fresh and adaptable to new and old comers. The gameplay has improved tremendously over the first game. Fan of Part 1 will fill right at home with the newly polished Character controls. I openedMy experience with the Last of Us has been great.     I play games for its awesome gameplay graphics and setting plus story, story for me in a videogame is a Plus not mandatory,,
    if I care too much about the story there are millions of tv shows and movies out there go watch them to pay $60 for a story go and pick a novel for 10 bucks and thats it don't bother yourself with the story in video games;

Thats where the good stuff ends...The story feels like its utterly motivated by all the wrong reasons. Its a mere vessel to throw identity politics at us and also spit in the face of beloved characters while doing so.This game feels like a slap in the face. Its hard to delve into anything without spoilering, but suffice to say i will not be giving naughty dog another dime after this. Ultimately a lesson in how NOT to treat beloved characters and the effect of awkwardly injecting identity politics into videogames. NOTHING good comes of it as it will ultimately never represent the majority(while never fully satisfying the moniroty its designed to appease) so you are alienating a vast core audience and all the while treating these beloved characters like dirt. Its not rocket science. This is a bait and switch series where they gave us a perfect tale in the first game only to use the sequel to try and sneak in a social justice success story...and it wont work. Other downsides are underdeveloped, unlikeable characters, awful pacing especially towards the end, map size thats big just for the sake of it losing the focus and pacing of the first game. I could go on but even writing about this failure of a game is a chore. Very poor naughty dog...so very poor. Amy hennig must be laughing at this and its taught a lot of people that mainstream game journo's/sites are nothing but mouthpices for large publishers/devs and simply cannot be taken seriously(if that wasnt already clear long before now).… Expand

I cringed so often, I just never bothered finishing the game and returned it, then watched the rest on youtube. The story has been ripped of it's charm and is now full of nothing but cheap shock value and parts meant purely to just cause anger. Spoiler part: The story has been immediately ruined in the first few hours when Joel is killed off for shock value. The angry child of a girl who did it is one of the main characters now and you play as her for a large part of the rest of the game. The story tries to be spun as Ellie being the bad guy for going after revenge, even though she literally watched Joel's head get beat in in front of her. Ellie is then to the side storywise, and is a very one track personality for the remainder, instead of the very lively and deep character she was in the previous game. Some games pull the "flip the player character trick" well; TLOU 2 is not one of them. Pathetic showing from Naughty Dog, and I genuinely wish I could get a refund.… Expand

    The story falls apart since Joel's death. A series of events begins without sense but with a clear objective, revenge. A revenge that will never happen because Naughty Dogs decided to teach us a lesson, revenge is not good, going to play the guitar is better than killing your '' father '' murderer. The problem is that time lapse between Joel's death and the journey to hunt Abby, it doesn't make sense. Everything we do until we reach Abby is meaningless because we did not meet our goal. Everything we kill on the long road does not make any sense, the behavior of the characters is unreal. I can't understand why Ellie doesn't kill Abby, I'm still looking for the answer.
    Speaking of Abby there is no point in her inclusion in the saga. Literally in this game the protagonists are women, we play with women all the time and we play with Abby, the game forces us to play with Abby and give it undeserved power and prominence.
    The missions between scenes are totally unnecessary and long to realize that the story goes from bad to worse.

I met with friends to talk about the first game, we talked about its details for hours, assuming how the story will continue. And now, 7 years later we are given everything we had not asked for. The protagonist of the first story is Joel. The story should continue with Joel and end with Joel. They decided to start a meaningless path impacting the players with a totally and absolutely unnecessary and unjustified death. We have the chance to play with Joel for 10 minutes... great...
    I hope that a third part will never come because knowing that in this second they have not developed anything to the characters, rather they have taken them off, in a third part they would kill Ellie to put an overweight dark-skinned person surviving the infected.     The in-game action is minimal and static, the infected are there for you to take your time killing them add nothing to the story.     Each video game development company has the right to develop their own video game as they wish. Like the buyers and it is hard for me to say it because it is very sad, video game lovers have the right to defend their point of view about the work done by said company.     I appreciate the creators' audacity to kill Joel, which got people so mad about this game, it's a bold move, yet necessary to give Eli the drive and the goal to fight, if else the game wouldn't be any different from the first part..

    I do understand why people wouldn't like this game. But I'd also say or quote Troy Baker, "keep an open mind". If you actually look and understand the story closely, the writing does induce the feeling of loss of a loved one in real life. I mean, to be honest, I've never actually felt such anger for some character dying, that too in a game. The game makes you feel 'Hate'.
    Well yeah, anytime anyone can nitpick this w being 'overly complex' just to keep up w the 1st one. Eventually, inducing hate in audience for the series. But if you do look at some avant garde film concepts, you'd definently realize it's not only about relatability with audience's mind, but also about making them 'feel' the emotion. (Wouldn't be a right example, in comparison. But may prove my point for you, only if you're interested in the avant garde)

    I mean look at films by Andre Tarkovsky, they make you feel 'time' or by Carlos Reygadas which make you feel 'a perplexed individual's reality' or even by Quentin Tarantino which make you feel comedy in absurdity.

    Now talking about the complexity, (just my opinion) I felt it was perfectly balanced out. Neil Druckmann didn't force you to 'empathise' with Abby. Coz if he did, he wouldn't have gone for an aftermath ending where an older Ellie takes an effort to take revenge and looses all she had; my man could've simply made this game an Abby biased game instead of keeping it 50/50 each character perspective with Ellie biase. I mean, I'm damn sure even Druckman knew nothing can account for Joel's death. So what he did instead is show you a 'perspective' of a villian (and not her side of the story by forcing you to empathizing with her). And to keep that 'perspective' interesting he uses the concepts of 'war' during the Abby sequences to elaborate how everyone has an internal war. Abby's internal war is guilt, Ellie's revenge, Lev's sexuality.

    And just like a war to end all war does nothing but creates more, the ending sequence where they both fight like beaten up pigs is just so you see this situation from an objective yet ellie's POV.

    Well, at least to me (call me an opem minded naive) but honestly... by the end of the game, I felt Joel did have to go. (Though it's a personal biase) But w the concepts of war, space and ocean the game did get meexistential and made feel Joel's death as a trivial part of survival. Yet I cried when he did. (Well, some might've felt it's a drag.. but I just simply loved the game)

    The beginning of the game blew me away with that open world look and best graphics ever on a console.After a few hours it got boring at repetitive.Long cutscenes as like i was watching a movie and a pretty bad one too.There are more cutscenes than actual gameplay.

    I think I am one of the few people who will give it a good grade. I honestly don't want this game to fall low. Tlou1 I loved the story, maybe this Tlou2 was not what we all expected in narrative. The combat, the scenes, graphically moved me a lot and in certain deaths I felt that feeling. Please just enjoy it, in the worst or best way possible...

    The game starts beautifully, Joel immediately explains what happened in the hospital and during the game, we can see what's happening between Ellie and Joel with a few flashbacks. But we can not see the rest of the 4 years of relationship between our protagonists because Joel gets killed like as if he is a monster and villain by some random characters. Ellie is included in cycle of revenge and the story continues. After that we play with the random character called Abby and find out that she is the surgeon's daughter Joel killed in the first game. From every point, things get ridiculous. That surgeon was nothing more than a NPC, he didn't have a little background at all and no one didn't even know who Abby is. She came out of nowhere and destroyed the character development, the story. After that the game forces players to play as Abby and tries to make players sympathize with Abby. Unfortunately the damage is gone. The developer tries to integrate the doctor's importance with some flashbacks. Furthermore Ellie and the characters who are around her turns into worthless living beings against Abby Then the story comes to an end but it's terrible as well like the rest of the story. The final scene tells everyone that everything was for nothing. Complicated time line, unexpected characters and scenes, excellent motivations, touching backgrounds, turning players against the main characters. This game is a masterpiece! Hmm, nope.

    In a nutshell, this game is a disrespect to all gamers who saw Joel and Ellie's story and felt their emotions, characters, the world that the developer created. Contradictory decisions which isn't fit with characters, wasted emotions and character developments for a cheap cycle of revenge, uninteresting new characters, unnecessary sex scene, exaggerated violence, incoherent and meaningless ending.

To start off the fans would have been so much happier if Joel had died another way, in TLOU2 he dies after saving abby who then goes on to golf club his head in, people would've been happier if he died around mid game giving ellie and dina time to run from WLF, and the whole revenge story could have been that they killed a group of innocent families including children in the crossfire in an attempt to kill joel but it goes wrong and they scrambled for Seattle, letting u play as JOEL and ELLIE chasing them down not letting u play as abby once. The story isn't as dwelling as the original game, it felt more forced. Killing the main character Joel in this way - pretty cheap - after playing as Abby felt wrong. Growing with the original two characters from the first game, then having forced a nobody (Abby) to play as, didn't fit at all. Apart from those choices, the game is incredible with smooth gameplay and environmental design in both world, OST and graphics. Also, have we all forgotten Ellie was lesbian since Left Behind DLC? This game gets a rating of 6, mainly when comparing to what could have been (like the original).… Expand

From many other negative reviews I can clearly tell that our world is stuck up - apparently even the gamer community or those trying to politicise it with their reviews, trying to shut down developers that dare to try and depict the virtual humanity as it is and not as singular as those upholding obsolete worldviews nowadays would enjoy them to do.

    I get it: Women loving women (and not men as they are supposed to in your little world) is hard to take if you kinda despise women because none ever touched you.. Having saved little Ellie from zombies only to have her grow up a lesbian surely frustrates all those idiots that were likely even already drooling over her as a minor in part 1. sure, the game has its plot twists that are shocking and need some getting used to.. it is differwnt, felt just like playing uncharted 4.5 with different protagonists..

    but those who claim even mechanics are bad and no upgrade to the first game.. they are simply wrong.. it is easy to recognize the gameplay and mechanics from last of us.. just they were refined here and everyrhing goes really smoothly.. awesome gameplay.. no npcs getting stuck etc. i havent seen any bugs either.. (ea, maybe you should hire naughty dog to consult you on this haha..)

    graphics are mindblowing and story telling is too in my eyes. unless you hate the world and lesbians and a male strong alpha type protagonist being switched for a female. sjw stuff works for me too. i always connected with ellie and thus i wanna avenge and destroy and hated almost just as much as she did.

It is very damaging that naughty dog proceeded to mislead its fans on what to expect from the game. No doubt the game has fantastic graphics and visuals. However, even though gameplay and some mechanics have vastly improved from the previous titles, there is that sense that a lot of things in the game can get repetitive very fast, especially stealth kills. It is also very obvious that gameplay mechanics from trailers were very highly exaggerated and scripted. What truly puts salt on the wounds is how disappointing the game can be to a player or fan almost solely due to the story. The game could have exceeded expectations and be something for the history books but due to a long wait and high hype and the way the story has unfolded, it has no doubt been a big cause of the game's failure of achieving that high statues that it was aiming for. It can be said that it is obvious that many of the so-called professional critic's reviews are very suspicious of being a shill. I do not wish to say that game is bad, because it's not really. Instead, that anger and disappointment from me and many fans of the series are directed on naughty dog's decision to be part of today's woke theme and its choice on what path the story took. It’s an ugly game that forces the player to do ugly things for no reason save to subvert your expectations. The game will force you to play as characters you don’t simply hate but utterly despise the sight of. It tries to be edgy with gray morality, but comes off as a teenage edge lord wailing in his room to bad music. The lowest point is murdering the most beloved character in gaming by some sort of berserk genderqueer psychopath (“It’s Ma’am!”) You are then expected to play as and sympathize with said psychopath. Including an explicit sex scene between said psychopath and the game writer/directors transparent self insert character. It’s “Tumblr The Game!” This is arguably one of the worst, games ever made.     I see this game as a sequel.

    Therefore I feel that it is at the same level or even better than the first part of the story

    The most notable would be the technical section (Graphics, Lighting, Landscapes, Details, Etc.) Also the "new battle system" with more and better animations and a touch of gore
