    So ignore the people buying and playing the game.. but keep listening to the crazy echo chamber that has zero to do with the people and only harm you...
    The game is amazing.. As everyone said the story is horrible.. Joel being handled differently might have made me think better but still, its bad. Its awful.. All this game does is offend everyone intentionally.
    Even Trans people should be offended.. They use stereotypes that people whom hate them think of them as..and does not represent most Trans people..and you made violent etc. Its just wrong..all of it.
    There is no way it should have a good score.. I will agree that it should least get 5.0 because everything else was just better from the first, other then, oh I dunno, the entire story/game itself..
    Im still a lil confused at whomever your internal PC voice is because of how they handle the Trans person alone (since they are trying to make it a new thing..) that which they knew on its own would draw controversy.. Why.. That is like being the people who used to say why blacks (kill them first) and no gays..) but they handled even that in a bad way..
    This whole thing is just confusing.
    (Btw these are the people driving all the companies to placate - not really change..so only feeding fires.)
    And again to leave off..media is lit writing stories about how "WE" should not be paid attention too..

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay and the story was fine. The reason why I chose to give this game a bad review is because of Naughty Dog's false advertising to make us believe that Joel was alive in their trailer with the fake scene with him.
    Joel being killed off is hardly an issue to me. If anything, they could obviously not be accused of fan service because of what they did and we could sympathize with Ellie's anger throughout most of the game. However, Naughty Dog obviously chose to change the story last minute and chose to kill him off after releasing a trailer showing Joel being alive and joining Ellie, which explains the multiple delays.
    Instead, what we have is Naughty Dog deceiving us with false advertising from their trailers and Neil Druckmann had the audacity to mock our massive negative reviews for the game.
    Even though I've heard that spoilers were released, I've chosen to avoid them, like how spoilers are occasionally released for other games, movies, and TV shows.
    Naughty Dog should be investigated by the FDA and should be sued for false advertising because I'm sure there are many of us who have chosen to not see the spoilers and who are also upset that Naughty Dog sold us a lie.    … Expand

    Good graphics, great music, horrible story(and no it's not BOLD it just sucks), and boring game-play.
    this game had so much potential but naughty dog decided to allow an SJW to write the script and it's blatantly obvious, and the developers were just lazy, improving on nothing but graphics.
    do not buy this game. just watch someone else play it, your day will still be ruined for less money.

This will not be a game that makes you happy and a lot of people seem to be labeling shocking events plot holes because they didn't like what happened.     1) the game is incomplete as it lacks the mp component which made the first game great
    a newer product should never have less features than the first product.
    2) the game is pretty, but the story is horrible and hamfisted.

    this game deserves all the fan backlash it is getting and hopefully it taints the studio and the creatives behind in as to never develop anything again.

    Boring gameplay (push the button 3 times to get a combo, and excessive quicktime events) neat cinematics, recycled inside scenarios, a dumb story (like... for real, you can get better fanfics on Wattpad) and a short time to beat (25hours but 7 hours of cinematics) please don't waste your money

I personally felt the story was weaker compared to the first game but it was still enjoyable to me. I personally extremely liked the fact that you play as both Abby and Ellie. It really put into perspective both sides of the coin for me. This game works best if you try and come at this neutral; with an open mind.

    I like the way they tell the story. I saw many critics on the second main character Ebby, which is totally a fully reveal of the hatred against those women who have a body image which doesn’t fit the Standard norm....

    Don't listen to people that didn't actually played the game and will just spoil it right away. If you played the first one you need to play the second part to understand everything that happened. If you take the time to explore every corners you'll see how much the lore of the game is rich and make sense while playing it.     I don't believe any game is worth a 10/10 or a 0/10. There is no game that is absolutely perfect with no flaws nor is there a game that is absolute trash with nothing to like whatsoever. The sequel had a ton of potential to be great but it's like ND pushed aside the infestation filled narratives of the game and forced a revenge plot on the gamers that most people find dull and filled with plot holes. Obviously the graphics and other technical stuff was a vast improvement on the original but of course it came out years after the original, problem is, TLOU1 was a story-driven masterpiece of a game and the gameplay was secondary for people who experienced it, it was the story that has driven most of us to continue and see what will transpire next for Joel and Ellie, and then having the story fall flat on the 2nd game was for sure a massive disappointment for the people that has been waiting for the next chapter from the 1st game's main protagonists. i hope this serves as a lesson to ND, if you want to try new ideas on gaming, make it on a new game and don't force it on an already established title.     The 1st game was a bottle of good whiskey! The 2nd is a glass of dirty water when you have not thirst. Keep this leftist/SJW narrative away from the games and story. This game seems-not in a cool way-the last season of Game of Thrones. How far can you go for screwing up a story/franchise? The characters and the game became SO TASTELESS or with a bad taste!

Im sure yall already know what happened, but im not about to spoil it. I dont expect EVERY game to have perfectly written dialogue, perfect acting, or perfect characters, but this game does something with its main story that has and always will be unforgivable. It ruins the first game. So, if you liked the first game because of Joel and Ellies relationship, then avoid this game like the plague. But if you dont care about that, which is kind of weird since that was what the first game was all about, then i...guess...give this a try? Anyways, its a solid 3/10 for me. The developer said the game wasn't supposed to be "fun" but "engaging", but the fact is that you need some fun moments between the dark stuff, otherwise you end up with a mess like this. Top that off with some of the most mind numbingly boring cover shooter gameplay, a common trait in Naughty Dog games, and you end up with a game that's just not entertaining to play through. I also wasn't a huge fan of LoU1 either because it also felt very bland gameplay wise. A decent story and amazing graphics can't save this game from it's bland gameplay and constant dark tone. If they had more hopeful moments the game would be much higher on my rating scale, however it doesn't. As such I feel a 4/10 is a perfect spot. The game is below average in all respects other than graphics, and that's what makes me disappointed in it.… Expand

After a seven year wait this is what naughty dog gives it’s devoted players, a game that essentially beats every aspect of what everyone loved about the original to a bloody pulp, and then proceeds to spit on it. However the graphics, landscapes and generally game design are very good, I just wish they weren’t wasting on such a piece of awful storytelling. To wrap this up, the game upon finishing left an awful taste in my mouth, very similar to the feeling I had while watching films such as alien 3 and terminator dark fate.     I love the gameplay and the graphic but I just can't enjoy the game because of the story and the character. The good story telling of the first game is the main reason why I love TLOU so much. The bond between Joel and Ellie is what made the first game good, why throw it all away in part 2? I will just pretend part 2 never existed.

    Beautiful sound and graphics, average gameplay that brings nothing new and really bad story. There are lots of plot holes and no character development. It'd be an OK game if it were from some new IP. It's really painful to see what they have done with Joel and Ellie just for shock factor.

    STORY 1/10 - For those who were emotionally invested in TLOU and the characters of Joel and Ellie, the plotline, story structure, and characterisation of TLOU2 completely fails to present a satisfying experience

    I'm not saying every game has to be happy, and have happy ending or whatever. Telltales TWD, LIMBO, Shadow of the Colossus, Spec Ops: The Line... all of these games had tragic endings and a relatively sorrowful tone throughout. Yet why is the story of these games fantastic, whereas TLOU2 isn't so.
    The game uses cheap, artificial, manipulative story mechanics, instead of intelligent or thoughtful characterisation, to garner sympathy for Abby.
    For example when playing as Ellie, you are FORCED to:
    (1) kill dogs
    (2) murder screaming wailing people, whose loved ones mourn and cry in terror (making you feel bad about killing them)
    (3) murder a pregnant woman
    Whereas when you are playing as Abby, you are FORCED to
    (1) play and have fun with dogs
    (2) defend yourself against evil scary transphobic jungle people
    (3) save kids
    People who enjoy the story are confusing SKILFUL DIRECTION with CHEAP MANIPULATION. People seem to be forgetting the Abby is a fundamentally EVIL, IMMORAL character that doesn't deserve sympathy
    In Ellie's darkest moments, she:
    (1) attacks a woman who, aside from being involved in her fathers death, also further titilates and aggravates Ellie by saying Joel died like a little **** Reacting with rage and impetus, she beats the woman up with a metal pipe. However, Ellie is visibly traumatised and shaken by the event, she comes back and is clearly distressed and troubled
    (2) kills a woman who she later finds out is pregnant. When finding out, Ellie's hearing fades, she collapses and starts hyperventilating; clearly disturbed, remorseful and regretful
    In Abby's darkest moments, she:
    (1) shoots an old man in the knee, who just previously saved her life and was completely friendly and warm to her. She proceeds to take VISCERAL PLEASURE in beating him with a golf club, torturing him for so long that she eventually she grows exhausted and needs to remove her jumper. She delivers the killing blow right in front of a screaming girl who begs for his life
    (2) smashes a girls face, and upon finding out that the girl is pregnant, Abby takes immense PLEASURE AND SATISFACTION at the prospect of slitting her throat.
    Both girls enact their darkest moments under the impetus of revenge, but it is clear which character takes pleasure in the idea of inflicting pain. Once you understand this, any meaning the story holds completely withers away. TLOU2 is not a satisfying or entertaining story experience, nor is it a story that even needed to be told, given how many other movies, games, books, TV shows have conveyed the consequences of revenge theme better.

    Overall 16/30 = 5/10 - not even close to TLOU 10/10 rating and a completely underwhelming venture from Naughty Dog    … Expand

I think the problem with the bad reviews from people who wanted happy endings, wanted to play as Joel and Ellie and live in nostalgia of the first game. You need to have an open mind. A second playthrough if you really want but closing your mind off to the experience because of the first act is the reason this game has poor user ratings. This game has an exceptional narrative, like, a mildly weird one considering what I would consider the posture of a story being.. a little slumped in some places. But overall, boxes to check; exceptional representation of women, diversity in orientation, gender and race, hard discussions and quite poignant representations of PTSD, a grit-teeth look at violence and the conception of a very unique way to tell a story. It makes you reconsider how you play the first game. The game is **** intense. Picture me, just chillin' at my craft station to hear the unmistakable sound of thudding footsteps towards me to be thrown out of what felt like a little pause screen. Wrong. Very wrong. Beaten almost to death wrong. The game has a way of keeping you in edge but killing you into safety. Is it crickets or a clicker? The fear in the gameplay outside of what feels like being an unreliable narrator is what adds to the charm but also kind of detracts from the linear element or want of nostalgia for a game.
    Some people are reviewing it without even playing. Thank you naughtydog for honestly making my birthday and having me stay up for like 3 days to finish it. I hate you. But I love you. And I get it. It's an adult game, made by adults. To expect sunshine, happy endings and nostalgia that isn't somewhat bittersweet is not a realistic build up of this franchise. Thank you for making me ugly sob but truly reflect on my actions. Thank you for sticking to the artistic integrity. Thank you for not giving us a "happy" ending.    … Expand

Now I will admit the transition to playing as Abby is a bit odd it took some getting use to her character but now I see why Abby did what she did and I've loved seeing her story. To all those haters who just hate on the fact Ellie is a lesbian or Lev is trans are so simple minded. They can't see that the storytelling in this game is cinematic breathtaking beat for beat. The gameplay is improved upon from the first ones realistic movement and gun mechanics and the graphics are outstanding. This game is definitely GOTY contender and may even win.… Expand

Of course its sad that joel died but that makes you want to go after abby and kill her. The second part of the game all the way to the end is buns. You play as abby through the second part of the game almost all the way to the end. You find and kill jessie, wound tommy, wound dina, and almost kill ellie. The last part of the game you play as ellie to go kill abby. You find her and have a fight but end up letting her go. Thats what made me put this game as a 1/10. The person you were going to kill gets let off. Thats complete utter horse poop. #Justice For Joel. So stupid that ellie let abby get away. No wonder why critics could only talk about the first part of the game. So stupid. I'll be returning the game. Not worth the money.… Expand

    I am only a couple hours into this game but it is amazing. The story has a lot of twists and turns. Also NO LOAD TIMES! Which is amazing. I don’t believe over 3,000 people gave this game 0’s and 1’s.... I smell haters and jealous Xbox fans.

The first one is still my favorite game ever. It’s flawless. This is trash. I don’t care that Ellie is gay or what happens to Joel. That all makes sense.     this gamei is ass and is a blueprint of how communities such as BLM and the LGBTQ community are being used to get sales. Gameplay wise, nothing separates it from TLOU1. The story is ass, pacing is terrible, this **** is a very bad **** movie not a video game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played and enjoyed the first one! This game continues the gameplay elements from the first one. The story is good, if a bit slow in the first 3 hrs or so. The open exploration segments are a bit slow compared to other more action packed segments or flashbacks. Don’t listen to the negative reviews about there being some hidden“agenda” the main character is gay and has a girlfriend, so what? It’s not shoved down your throat and is handled the same way as most heterosexual romances in games. Also in regards to Joel’s death in the first hr of the game, this was not unexpected. If you payed attention in the first fake you’d notice they Joel and his Brother Tommy did a lot of bad things to survive and throughout the first game you anger various groups on your way toward the end of the game. After the climax of the first game and how it ends it makes sense that certain groups would hold a grudge and possibly hunt down Joel. Joel’s story is still very important in this game and he makes appearances in Ellie’s flashbacks. TL,DR If you liked the first one and you don’t mind playing as a Girl who likes girls then you will prob like this one too...… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.
