To think this garbage story came from a AAA game company is laughable. Instead of a cohesive story and fun game play, we get non-stop pandering to certain agendas thrown in with awkward pacing and zero character development. They even decided to kill off fan favorite characters; characters who they featured in trailers and through deceptive marketing tactics made it seem like they were going to be a large part of the story. I've played games for decades. This is one of the worst stories I have had to experience to date. I am pissed I cannot get my money back from this abomination. I would have rather used my $60 to wipe my butt and then flush it down the toilet; I would have gotten more satisfaction from that. I'm an idiot for not looking at leaks before playing this game. Shame on me for trusty Naughty Dog. This will probably be the last Naughty Dog game I ever spend money on.… Expand

    There are literally no words to describe my disappointment... I was hyped (as most people) to finally continue the story from part one but dear ND are you kidding me? There is nothing positive about it. Characters and the story are deeply boring and the whole thing makes you sad that it is meant to be the second part of the amazing narrative from The Last of Us „1”.     This is my favourite video game of all time. The plot mirrors the fallacy of endless retaliation in foreign policy. It expands on the themes of the first game while being its own thing as well. This game constantly surprised me despite what has been said in the leaks.

Loved the first one but this was a huge, and I mean huge step in the wrong direction. Call me whatever you want I honestly don’t give a **** because I am about as open minded as they come, I just call it like it is. We beat it in just under 26 hours because toward the middle we were just rushing and trying to get through this thing because we were super bored. Sad to see such an awesome franchise get **** on by terrible writers and Neil D.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, let me say this game is decisive when it comes to the player base. That can be seen from the reviews alone. But for the open-minded, this game breaks beyond the mold that is storytelling in video games. By the end of the game I had gone through so many emotions. I had laughed and cried along with the characters. Every death, whether it be Joel, Jesse, or the suspected death of Tommy, literally had me putting my hand on my mouth in fear and melancholy. The character development, and storytelling that is done without dialogue (such as reading Ellie’s journal) is phenomenal, and the average player wouldn’t even know it was there. The player that goes the extra mile and reads the small things like that will truly appreciate the story. Let me get on to one of the biggest “upsets” for the game, the ending. At the end of the game, you fight Abby who is the woman who killed Joel and Jesse. During this fight, Abby’s surrogate son “Lev” is injured and unconscious in a boat nearby. Ellie beats Abby and is holding her underwater, on the verge of drowning her. It’s during this brutal cutscene, that you see a very short flashback of Joel on his porch, picking away at his guitar. Ellie then gets off of Abby and tells her to take the boat and leave. I think so many players despised this ending for Abby, because they were so focused on the perspective of Joel and Ellie. Just like Ellie at the beginning of the game, they were blind with hatred and wanting revenge, no matter the cost. I believe that the flashback serves as Ellie remembering what Joel meant to her. She didn’t want anyone to feel the pain she felt by losing a parent figure, So Ellie lets Abby go. I won’t speak on the rest of the ending because it is so masterfully crafted and moving that you really should experience for yourself. Any fan of the first game is going to feel a deep sense of closure when you hear that credit soundtrack. This game has changed the way I will forever see storytelling. Another masterpiece and my new favorite game, all thanks to Naughty Dog.… Expand

    Opinião Pessoal Depois de ler algumas barbaridades sobre o jogo neste site e de alguns reviewers.. Preciso de deixar aqui os meus 2 cents.
    Dou uma avaliação de 9/10 pois para mim o jogo tem algumas falhas. Alguns bugs que podem ter impacto na jogabilidade e outros nem tanto que se tornam visuais. Mas isto é algo que temos de ter em atenção no lançamento de um jogo com este tamanho, já o Days Gone apresentou os mesmos problemas que em futuras patchs foram melhorados. Por isso aqui nesta situação sei que poderá acontecer o mesmo.
    Voltando ao jogo. Naughty Dog u did it again. Meu Deus.. Que jogo!! Graficamente a puxar pela ps4 pro ao limite, simplesmente belo. Desde o ambiente dos campos, montanhas e das cidades destruídas, aos pequenos pormenores de um carro a ser consumido pela natureza, dos animais a vaguear os cenários ou da luz do sol a iluminar as paisagens magníficas que nos deparamos. Graficamente este jogo está uma masterpiece, noto em alguns momentos frame drop, algo que já me habituei nos jogos da ps4 e espero que a ps5 resolva isso, algumas sequências de ação abrandam o ritmo do jogo devido aos frame drop, nada de mais, mas sente-se.
    Os movimentos das personagens estão a roçar a realidade, algo que a naughty dog já nos habituou dos jogos antigos., a captura de movimentos dão uma sensação de realidade fantástica.
    O som está lá.. Não encontro nada que me faça falar negativamente, desde a banda sonora, as falas, aos efeitos de um planeta devastado, aos inimigos, armas, tudo está lá.. Muito bom. AGORA o motivo de tantas revisões negativas, a história. Eu acho que o foco principal de The last of us 2 é a história.. E aqui ao começar nada contra, mas conforme se avança, nota-se um bocado de desorganização no contar da mesma, por vezes fiquei confuso com o que estava a acontecer, perguntando se me falhou algo que não me dava a resposta ao que ia acontecendo, não é que a história esteja má, acho que está mal contada e os eventos acontecem de forma errada que nós leva a um final que deixa a desejar.
    Não quero dar muitos spoilers, pois prefiro falar aquilo que senti a jogar este magnífico jogo. Acredito que as más reviews vêm do facto de acontecerem coisas no jogo que deixaram os fans desapontados com o rumo e destino de algumas personagens, com a situação "gay" que se vive no jogo, e na era em que se vive isso é ridículo.
    As más reviews são para ignorar, estamos perante um dos jogos mais bem feitos de 2020 e dos últimos anos.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn’t think I was going to rate this game a 10/10 after I finished it but then I started thinking. If I could change something about this game what would I do different? Only 3 things came to my mind. 1. Less abby playtime
    2. A different ending
    3. More Joel

    I felt like playing as abby was becoming some sort of chore. “I have to do this in order to get to Ellie again” kinda thing. But this part also had a good side and for me that was Lev. I love to see representation and we got to know more about the seraphites which was something I was genuinely curious about.

    Then ending doesn’t sit right. If I was to choose I would rather it end at the barn with Dina and Ellie being happy together. The trip to california to get abby was kinda extra. Nothing was even accomplished just more deaths, Ellie losing 2 fingers and an upset Dina. Joel meant a lot to me. Especially as someone who considered him a father figure. The way he died didn’t so him justice.

    Now also mentions of things that could’ve made the game a lot lighter at times such as Ellie talking about riley at the arcade. But when I look at the overall picture thinking about the entire game I can’t help but love it. It might not actually be a 10/10 but it’s as close as something can get    … Expand

    La neta, todo lo que es gráficos, jugabilidad, soundtrack, es perfecto, pero la historia falló mucho, la verdad el final fue tan triste y depresivo que me dejó muy agridulce, por ejemplo, la manera en que perdona a abby se me hizo tan patética, yo creo que una buena manera d e haber terminado el juego hubiera sido que la eleccion de matarla fuera del que está jugando.

    I wasted a whole weekend on this game, the story goes nowhere for such a big chunk of the game and i feel like my time was wasted, the ending is a joke, character motivations in the second half aren't explained so you don't know why characters are doing things, the trailers showed Joel and ellie in some scenes that aren't in the game at all absolute waste of money.     The graphics look amazing! You can clearly see that we have reached the PS4 hardware limitations. The main part of a video game like The last of us the, story is a disgrace to the original. All that was loved was just thrown in to the bin.

    This game is amazing - it shows how far video games have come.
    However i just don't like playing these characters. I'm bored and i don't think the game is rubbing me the right way. Maybe too life like? I dunno. I'm 12 hours in and i'll likely stop there.... on account of me not feeling like my moneys worth - 4.
    Sure do appreciate the hard work of the developers though.

    The good. The graphics are beautiful and probably the best I've seen on console so far. The attention to detail is absurd. The bad. The story is weak at the best of times and cruel and vulgar at it's worst. It's almost as if ND is mocking the player for feeling connected to Ellie and Joel. Plus the sex scene. Neil you're a gross weirdo.

    This game is seriously giving me depression. The constant in your face violence and the uncaring attitude of the characters as they happily cave in skulls of anyone unfortunate enough to come across them, and then the game has the gall to try and make me sympathise and relate to the characters.

    I was bored for long periods of the game and couldn't be assed to finish it.

    The game has amazing graphics and the combat is kinda mediocre and feels like a game from 10 years ago. 3/10 Would not reccomend it unless you must know what happens but i suggest you just watch the movie somewhere on the net.    … Expand

I believe that if you enjoyed the game, good for you, I really wanted to enjoy it, but some story decisions presented here made that impossible. I want to first get it out of the way that from a technical aspect, this is a masterpiece. I mean the graphics, sound design, level design, and score. Now let's talk about the gameplay. I am very mixed on this. The gameplay on The Last of Us II is nothing revolutionary and barely does enough to differentiate itself from the first game, but the gameplay is almost always enjoyable and entertaining, only sometimes getting repetitive. Now the real divider, the story. I do not think killing Joel is necessarily a bad decision. As a lot have pointed out, it makes the world feel believable. But in the way that the game actually played out, Joel's death sucked all the life out of the game. The really bad: We should not have to play as Abby. I think Naughty Dog just though like, Joel killed Abby's father, so the players will connect to her, right. Wrong. Of course, Joel has done immoral things in the past, but these things are part of his character, and we love his character either way. The fallout of his death also caused one of the worst character decisions in the game, Ellie. Ellie is now a shell of her former self, she has no character and just kills the whole game. I just think that the premise of a revenge plot is not a strong pull for a game because the only way it can end is Ellie killing Abby. If not, then the whole plot will feel like it was for nothing, this was what happened. If Ellie had actually killed Abby, that would have been a bit better but it would have felt like Ellie had not learned anything and her character would have developed nothing from the start of the game. The side characters are kind of useless and add nothing to the story. I think that for The Last of Us II to have been a good game, the writers should have thought of another hook for the game. I think that most of the people are tricked into liking this, thinking it is a deep, dark and depressing game. Those things don't make a good game, a edgy game isn't necessarily a good one. Interesting and dynamic characters make a good game. I'm not the biggest fanboy of the first Last of Us, I don't hate this game because Ellie is gay or some idiot things people might say, I didn't have fanfiction that this game didn't live up to, I wanted a game that respected while still changing and growing the characters in ways that feel believable and true to the first game, sadly, The Last of Us II fails at every fundamental aspect of storytelling and while its presentation and tone is stunning, I cannot bring myself to give a high score to a game that didn't give me a reason to invest with the characters and story.… Expand

I don't think I have ever been so pissed at a game's story in my whole life. So basically a He Girl kills one of the most beloved protagonists in gaming history with a golf club, there's a sex scene that not even god would ask for, and an ending that says **** you, I don't care that I made you waste 25 hours of your life and made you feel like **** for something that happened when you were 2 hours in the game. I feel like I have been betrayed by ND like John Snow. Yes, I did love the graphics and I am extremely excited for the future games to have this kind of graphics. The gameplay was pretty good too. But goddamn, this story just made me do a 360 turn, bent me over and shoved all of its terriblenesses up my ass. Especially for a prequel to a game that made me cry 4 times. Literally 4 times! I can't believe how I got jebaited so hard. I mean, have you seen the people reacting to Joel's death? You can literally see the pain in their eyes. I don't even think that it's worth by brain energy to THINK about the paid reviews to be ND's only shield for this game. I would rate this game a -20 if I had the chance. The ending of this game is a joke! it's something to laugh about whenever you hear it. How the hell are you gonna spare the person who killed your father figure in front of you?

    This game is nothing more than a time-waster and plays with your feelings like a fiddle.     I believe this game isn't for everyone. I feel like you have to put yourself inside Eli's shoes to understand what is going on. And frankly people watch shows like Game of Thrones or The Walking dead and don't mind at all when the same happens in the TV shows but now in the game it's a piece of garbage? For me the game is great as it is. Thank you Naughty Dog!

    On its own it is a mediocre third person shooter with barebones stealth elements and one button combat. It is poorly paced and downright nonsensical at points. As a follow up to the original, it is a slap in the face. Beloved characters are butchered in a manner akin to fanfiction. If you enjoyed the first one, do not play this.

    I played for 8 hrs into this game an the story is written soo bad. There are some gimmicy control issue whihc could be fixed but the wrtiting is something that wont be ever be able to be fixed.

    The only way they could redeem themselves is by releasing the first part on PC.

After Joel gets killed by a random character, you lose the ability to finish this game. I spoiled the rest of the game because I simply did not care about finishing it through. The ending did not bring justice either, which helped me confirm that I did not want to finish this game. Unless they release the ability to have a second ending where Ellie gets her revenge on Abby, I have absolutely no interest in finishing this game. Total waste of money. Also, how would Abby get ahold of steroids? The world has gone to hell and there's no way she knows how to create steroids with 0 resources. Why are we forced to play as her as well?
