    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely the Last Jedi of video games. It subverted almost every expectation i had for this game. We can all agree the soundtrack and graphics are AMAZING, especially considering this game is running on console, but the story is where everyone is divided. It took me roughly 17 hours to beat and when the credits started to role i felt DISGUSTED! "what game did i just play? What was the point in all of this. Nothing was achieved by anything that i had done on my journey to the end."

    But then i went to bed and thought about it. I thought about it a lot. I was so affected emotionally by how it made me feel i didn't realise how much it got to me. As Neil Druckmann stated, "the first game is about love, this game is about hate". I didn't hate it because it was poorly written, cause its not, i hated it because i wasn't thinking it from every characters perspective.

    When playing the second act of the game as Abby, all i was thinking about was "why in gods green earth am i playing as someone i absolutely loathe AND FOR SO GOD DAMN LONG! What game did i pay for?" i asked myself. But then as her arch went on I understood her head space, it got to the point i even questioned why i loved joel so much to begin with. Context also, last of us one is my favorite game ever, so much so i bought the custom PS4 pro and collectors edition. I could see where Abby is coming from, just as much as i could see where Ellie was coming from. I read a lot of people saying this game has tarnished the legacy of such a beloved character (being Joel), but the way i see it, it made you see the flaws in the people you love. Something a lot of people have a hard time doing even in their own personal lives. This game brought me to a place emotionally no other game has before, which is why i rate it so highly. If you have only seen the leaks without context, i highly recommend you play it as it really can only be defined by the overall journey and the context brought to light because of it.

    And i know most of you haven't played it cause when I beat it, i was one of 0.5% of people who owned the game who had done so. You trying to tell me 36k people make up 0.5% of the game??? im gonna hit F to doubt.

    I didn't give it a 10/10 because of how misleading the marketing was, and not for the reasons you think. I was so not onboard playing as Abby cause i did not get myself into the head space to do so. If it even slightly alluded to the fact in the games marketing that id be playing as someone else for almost a full half of the game (without any narrative context obviously) i would have enjoyed that portion of the experience a lot more.

    This game is BOLD, and begs the question of what defines right and wrong. Both characters are protagonists and Both are antagonists in their own right. I don't think I've ever seen such perfect form of story telling, as well as such well written characters. You will not like this game if you refuse to accept people who you adore have done **** things for their own self interests, and that people you hate have good reason to feel and do the things they do, and vise versa.    … Expand

    Having finished the game I can say 99% of people rated game havent played it. Graphics are excellent gameplay is fun and reminds last of us 1. Story is interesting with its own twists. Play game for yourself instead of crying about it..

It massively explored our feelings and the ability to empathize with someone who hurt you really bad. I do feel that the ending was "cut short", which kind of reminds me of Life is Strange 1. As if they were in a hurry. I liked the gameplay, although it's not for everyone. If you liked the gameplay in the first one, I don't know why you wouldn't like it in the second one. It's weird that the most emotional parts were during flashbacks, but they still hit the spot. I'll think about this game for a while.… Expand

    Great graphics, but the plot clearly shows that the creators decided to spit in the face of heterosexuals who came into the game to protect themselves from the LGBT community. Developers probably believe that only minorities play their game, but they don’t consider normal people to be people.

    Let me start off by saying I love the last of us part 1. It's my favorite game of all time. I wasn't a big fan of the DLC because I feel like an agenda was being forced and pushed in my face. Going into this game I was trying to have an open mind. I didn't mind ellie being gay so much. It bothered me in the DLC because she was like your daughter and I never once questioned her sexuality orLet me start off by saying I love the last of us part 1. It's my favorite game of all time. I think when they introduced the trans kid things were a little too much there. It was definitely forced and an obvious agenda was at play. I was kinda confused when I first saw abby but after learning about her background I understood her character. The graphics in this game were incredible. I also loved the gameplay. The main things I absolutely hated about this game was the ending. I think if i played this and didn't look at the leaks I would have hated it more when Joel died. I guess I kinda just accepted it before the game came out so i lived with it seeing as I preordered the game. Once the game panned over to Abby after the Theatre encounter I couldn't wait to hurry through and see what happens next. Let me tell u it feels like this game NEVER ends and in the worst way possible, but you keep playing to find out. Only to be F'ed over so hard with the ending its so unreal. The ending was so bad it has potentially made me not even want to buy a ps5 next gen and that says ALOT. I mostly buy playstation to experience games from naughty dog like uncharted last of us and FF7 remake is big on my upcoming games, but after seeing how sony and naughtydog treated this whole situation I think I might go rock out on some Halo next year. I would like to at least give this game a 5 for graphics because those developers deserve a well 10/10 for that, but this director has F'ed this game up so bad I have to rate a 0 and try to give it the lowest overall score as possible so maybe decisions can be made to better the brand.… Expand

    This game is outstanding. For people to review bomb it for no reason is just sad, it took me 19 and a half hours too complete and that was with a little amount of exploring. BUY THIS GAME.

    Unbeliveable. The last of Us have been stuck at my personal top spot since the Ps3 era, and my expectations where high. But boy, did ND deliver. Grippig, chilling, beautifull.. I bow to one of the bedt games ever made.

    I don't genuinely hate the story. it can be a good story if the storyteller actually think about the characters and the insight in first part. So much hard work ruined, what a shame.
    If you consider this a random game without tlou2 title, meh, it aight.

    Quite frankly some of the reviews on here are utterly absurd.

    This game represents the pinnacle of video gaming. Offering unparalleled, gut wrenching challenging gameplay coupled with beautiful graphics.

    Be in no doubt. This is the best video game ever made. Do not let the inaccurate reviews on here dissuade you. Thankyou Naughty Dog.

You can say it is rediculous. Joel will never trust anyone easily, Joel will never go to anyone's place while he don't know that person , Joel will never help Abby for sure.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hi so this is my first ever review and I can honestly say that I loved this game everything about it had me hooked from the griping emotional roller coaster of a story to the greatly intuitive controls.
    In retrospect of the story I'm not 100% happy with the direction you took especially with the killing of joel but after going through my paces with the game I have come round to the idea and can see the reason why you took the direction that you did and I'm glad that I stuck with it too the end this is coming from someone who fell in love with joel from day 1 and a person who spent 40 different play throughs just spending time with my favourite ever characters to come out of a video game.

    With this all said I hope that Naughty Dog doesn't take the hate to heart and listens to the points given by them and there more positive fans feedback and moves on to still make great games for us to enjoy I'm personally super happy with The Last OF US 2 and can't wait to see where Naughty Dog goes in the future.

    Neil Druckmann simply took and ripped out heart from the fans. They did not care about everything, the main thing is to work out the agenda of minorities. He forever destroyed the story ... even the first part will now be apprehensively remembered. He has no forgiveness.

    Disappointment is no limit.

    This game left me feeling depressed and confused as I watched the characters I grew to love in the first game, killed and beaten up repeatedly by new characters that no one cares about. Then the game put you in the shoes of these new characters and try’s to make you sympathise with them. It just doesn’t work. Great graphics, okay gameplay, horrible story.     People saying it's boring.....you move to one area kill enemies then walk around for 20 mins with nothing. Yes at some points there isn't a lot of action but that's not what this game is about. You need atmosphere, a lot of the time the down time moments are to allow conversation between characters or simply to allow some atmosphere. Also a lot of the time these moments allow exploration where notes can be found for more world building or safe codes. Equally the contrast between the quiet moments and then the moments of action are key to the experience.
    This game is about story, it's about creating a believable world with relatable characters. It hasn't evolved a whole load from tlou 1 but then why change something great? If anything this improves on the first. Movement and conflict is so much smoother with more fluidity to motion. The only criticism I can find is that there are a few light glitches but v rare and insignificant.
    Finally anyone bombing this score because there is a feminist undertone or because Ellie is a Lesbian who has a relationship with (shock horror) a girl.......
    Go look at yourself in the mirror and question what you are doing.
    The game is excellent. Tlou 1 is one of my fav games ever and this definitely joins that list. Well done naughty dog.    … Expand

По поводу лгбт наративов, я толерантен и отношусь к этому всему весьма спокойно, но в этой игре всё это показано натолько невнятно, что начинаю понимать почему игроки так в штыки это воспринимают, дело в том, что разработчики не в состоянии вписать такие мотивы в свои игры, без гиперболизации и ущерба сюжетной составляющей и эта игра яркий этому пример, когда в попытках угнаться за модным трендом разработчики в итоги не смогли уседеть ни на одном из стульев.… Expand

Just finished the whole game, it could have ended after 2 hours tbh, not because of certain event, but because it actually felt like TLOU, after that it's basically a very very poorly written storyline, everything they tried to tell us about different perspectives in life, the good guy and bad guy are subjective were garbage, although i kinda enjoyed the ending, SPOILERS NOW, and for christ sakes playing with a different character and doing the most boring and pointless tasks just so we can feel sorry for the new characters for half of the game was the worst.… Expand

They can be so ignorant and arrogant because of their previous successes, what exactly the players expected. But they were betrayed.

    But why is that a so successful studio receives only 3.4 user rating? It cannot be just because of some lesbian action, it is because they destroyed everything.

    Ask yourself the question: do you want to play this game because of Last Of Us or because you want to play the character Abby who destroyed everything you found dear in the Last Of Us?    … Expand

    Me entristece ver y jugar un juego que tenía todo lo de ganar y dar un giro nefasto en el guión de juego cuyo único fuerte tiene este tipo de juego. Gráficamente el juego se ve sublime salvo uno que otro fallo la música plagada de covers para apantallar y disimular la pobreza de soundtrack propio del juego el gameplay es simple nada nuevo y los menús son pésimos como en el anterior entregaMe entristece ver y jugar un juego que tenía todo lo de ganar y dar un giro nefasto en el guión de juego cuyo único fuerte tiene este tipo de juego.     Si te gusto el primero, este tambien lo hara. Un juego con una carga narrativa brutal, y donde a traves de la exploración, te explica historias secundarias para entender mejor el contexto.     The graphics look amazing, charakter animation, physics and effects are top notch. The gameplay itself feels a little dated and repetitive by now. I'm going to give it 2 out of 10 because i feel sorry for the developers who poured their soul into this concerning the horrendous story.

    La historia, les guste o no, está bien desarrollada, porque intenta ser realista, mostrar que el personaje que más usamos en el 1 muere de esa manera es hacernos caer a una realidad que, pese a ser un juego, hay cosas similares a la vida real. Mostrar el punto de vista de Abby es excelente también, ya que muestra el lado humano, ayuda a entender el porque de sus acciones y ayuda a crear una atmosfera diferente cuando les toca pelear a Abby y Ellie. No sentís que es Ellie contra la villana de turno, sentís que es una pelea entre dos personas que sufrieron bastante para llegar hasta ese punto. El final quizás es algo cuestionable, pero no deja de ser razonable, una Ellie que entiende los porqué de Abby y al final decide perdonarle la vida.
    En conclusión, un juego que intenta narrar una historia más realista, con dos enfoques diferentes de la narrativa. Gracias ND por no caer en el cliche de historia de venganza.    … Expand

Funny how a little moment some people didn't even think about ended up becoming important to the story. Killing abby’s dad like that goes to reinforce the narrative in these games that messed up things tend to happen oit of know where all the time in these games and you just have to accept that.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know this game is really polarizing for a bunch of fans and I was slightly disappointed with the ending. But it took me a while to internalize it and think about the story as a whole. Yes the killing of a main character sucks, but this isn’t the first game to do that. The LGBTQ aspects of the game DO NOT bother me whatsoever because it doesn’t make it the main focus of the game. There is no doubt that everything but the story is amazing. Crafting is familiar, weapon upgrading is familiar, the visuals are amazing, voice and motion capture is amazing, combat is way way better. Open level design, etc. Do I think Ellie should’ve killed Abby? I really wanted her to. It would’ve finally given her closure and justice. But where would that have gotten her in the end? She still would’ve ended up going back to a home without Dina and JJ.

    As much as Ellie hates Abby for killing Joel, what Ellie says to Joel the night before he dies “I don’t think I can ever forgive you for that, but I would like to try.” Also kind of ties into the final fight with Abby. She can never forgive Abby for killing Joel (even though she had every reason to) but she’d like to try forgive because of what Joel did to Ellie. She was on the verge of leaving Joel for good because of the lies he told her. Overall, it’s not a terrible game, it’s not an amazing game, I would be categorized it between good and great. It’s definitely not as good as the 1st game. I also don’t think it really lives to the 7 year hype. Again, this game will polarize the fans, but I think everyone needs to step back and really really understand the story in great length. The game was about HATE, I wasn’t really expecting a happy ending to a game about HATE.    … Expand

    Abby is trash. I don't give a flying farquad if she is non binary, or identifies as a fish or is asexual. That's all fine and dandy. I loved Whiterose in Mr. Robot....because she worked and made sense from a narrative standpoint. There is no "bigotry" or "hate" when fans are uniting across the board to trash this monstrosity (see twitter to notice a LOT of the LGBTQ+ community are also apalled at this analfissure, and fail representation of their community - its so flipping patronizing when you force these things, and its an obvious backhand to anyone who can see it).

    The gameplay is so lackluster. It's one of the easiest games I have played in the last year or two... It's clunky and the mechanics are all fine but...when I am given choices and they lead to the same place...its just stupid.

They forced him to become oblivious to the world he lives in just to have a shock factor kill early into the game. Please explain to me in what world is Joel and Tommy going to walk Into and ambush like a bunch of fools? In Last of us 1 Joel clearly spots and ambush! After Abby kills Joel, How in the world does she allow HIS BROTHER and a Girl who clearly loved him to live? Did you not think that they weren't going to seek revenge like you spent all this time seeking revenge? Lastly at the end, this whole game felt useless after Ellie decides to let Abby live.... It makes no sense why Ellie didn’t kill Abby, she killed so many people and lost so many people on her path to revenge just to let her go in the end because a flashback of Joel playing a guitar. Makes 0 sense she’s lost everything for nothing. Couldn’t have ended any worse.     An excellent game with an excellent story. It perfectly complements the first opus. It is very strong emotionally and has an excellent lifespan (I finished it in almost 22 hours of play). I hope to have a sequel to complete and finish this story.
