    If you have not played the full game, do not rate it on the basis of the early story. I PLEAD YOU ALL TO PLAY THIS. This game has me in tears right now after the ending, please please please, give this a good review and play this game.

    Not worth our time & money. Neil Druckmann should be known as Drunk man after this disappointing game. Nothing is good about it. The ending sucks. This game just wanna push the illuminati transgender & lesbian agenda. That's all that it cares about. This gme is not fun. Don't ever let the Drunk man make games ever again

    If you played for a few hours and watched the rest on YouTube, you do not understand the game, and it can't be otherwise. I was initially mad at the story and felt quite a bit of hate, but after playing myself for the solid 10 hours, I was surprised at how good it actually is. Do not listen to all those blind hate reviews, the game is astounding.     In short: absolutely amazing game! I have played 8 hours now and it has been simply amazing in terms of graphics, story telling, game play, details. The story has been absolutely captivating (although shocking) and the game itself super fun to play (although very tense). It is really sad to see so many pathetic insecure people hate on the game because of Ellie's sexual orientation or thatIn short: absolutely amazing game!     I'll also take an opportunity to address some of the ridiculous criticism:
    1) "The game is too violent" - what the hell were you expecting? The first game was also about killing humans and zombies
    2) "The game does the same thing and is boring" - the first game was also walking around, exploring and killing humans / zombies - why is it boring now?
    3) "The story is terrible" - if Ellie wasn't a lesbian and there wasn't a trans character - there would be zero story criticisms    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Visually stunning. I did enjoy the gameplay but to call it groundbreaking is a vast overstatement. Its polished on the work from the first installment several years ago for sure, but it's to be expected given the resources behind such a well established studio. The biggest let down for me is the story. I'd draw comparisons with the GoT series. TLOU1 is much like the first few seasons setting the story rich with lore and a mix of anticipation and wonder in a strange new world.

    TLOU2 is akin to the last seasons where the story itself plays second (maybe thrid) fiddle to the proverbial mic drops/shock factor to justify itself. In much the same way as GoT, the ending makes you wonder why you even bothered in the first place.

    I'd even say if you had a choice in the the final decision it would have made up a few more points personally. But instead it's more of a childrens bedtime story trying to shove its own conflicting brand of morality down your throat at the expense of any replayability or sense of accomplishment. Now I get the whole revenge can backfire thing.... But this isn't a new concept... It has already been done... Just ask anyone who's watched the various endings of the Count of Monte Cristo.

    I can't help but think I've played a different game to that played for the critic reviews.

    For me the story should be foremost for any game, backed up by well polished and novel gameplay concepts and UI.
    I feel this concept was lost somewhere along development and as such feels like a step backwards from the achievements from its predecessor.    … Expand

    Embarrassingly enough, I spent $100 on this game, and regret it fully. Graphically beautiful, mechanics are alright, gameplay itself is meh, and plot had been butchered. Sad to see another series go down like this :(

Before anyone can whine and say I didn't "roll credits" on this game, let me assure you I did, and I stand by my opinion that The Last of Us Part II is the worst game ever made, from a story standpoint. Gameplay wise, the game is fantastic. The look and feel of everything is almost as great as it was in the first. But you can have the prettiest game, movie, or TV show in the world, and people will still despise it if the story is flawed. And, my God, this has to be one of the most terrible, unredeemable plots in video game history.
    ***SPOILERS FOLLOW***
    Roughly one hour into the game, if that, Joel dies. Okay, many of us were expecting Joel to die in this game, myself included. But it isn't his death, but rather the way it happens.
    In the first game, Joel is untrusting of anyone. He knows that there are more people out there in the world who mean him harm than good, and it's better to not engage with them. Yet we open into Joel's impending death with nothing short of a "Howdy, ya'll! My name's Joel!" He's murdered by a newcomer character named Abby, for whom you have no feeling but hatred after what she does. His death is far too brutal, to the point it crosses the bridge into torture porn. I couldn't watch it, and this is coming from someone who enjoys SAW and Hellraiser. And the reasoning behind it? Abby is the daughter of the surgeon Joel killed in the end of the first game.
    Ellie witnesses this and vows revenge. Oh, wow, where have I heard that plotline before? Maybe in literally every other revenge tale ever told. How original.
    So we have two characters, both on the hunt for revenge after their father/father-figure is murdered. Not starting off good.
    After this wretched, sickening scene of Joel's murder, you'll be happy to know you get to play as the ***** who murdered him, as some sort of twisted way to make you empathize with a character who has no redemption aspect. Then it tasks you with NOT getting her killed, as if I have any reason to not run headlong into the nearest Clicker.
    In addition to this, there's also another scene of a person witnessing their own mother being murdered.
    But the real winner was when the main protagonist, Ellie, kills a pregnant woman. Her revelation that the woman was pregnant is supposed to be traumatic and horrifying, but for what reason other than to make the player want to quit playing is beyond me. Ellie is damaged by not only seeing Joel get his face caved in with a golfclub, but also for inadvertently murdering a pregnant woman. Disturbing is the only word for this kind of story. There are NO redeeming qualities capable of undoing that kind of action.
    The entire game tries to be a statement about violence being bad and revenge being badder, as if the players who bought this game are moronic and unaware. We bought a violent video game and they in turn punished us for doing so by killing a character everyone loved. There's far too much effort to make you think, but with an opening like the death of Joel, you deafened the ears of anyone who may have listened to your shlock.
    And let's not forget that you, Naughty Dog, did this horrendous act to Joel on Father's Day weekend. A large number of people struggle with this holiday, myself included. I wanted to play this game as a distraction from the memories Father's Day brings up. I had a horrible father. Joel is the dad I always wished I would have had. And you murdered him.
    As someone who suffers from crippling depression, this game made me want to die. If I didn't have my new job and hope for the future, this game would have driven me to suicide. It is that bad. I've never had a game make me hate myself for playing it as much as this one did. And right now, in a time when people say they are the most unhappy they've been in decades, you gave everyone a reason to be even sadder. I pray no one is driven to end their own life by your senseless violence, infliction of trauma, and disturbing enjoyment of spitting in the face of fans of the first game, all in the name of "making a statement".
    **** you, Naughty Dog, LLC. You ruined not only this game, but its predecessor. You're all a bunch of torturous monsters and I hope your employees sue you for your slave labor tactics to the point you go under like Telltale Games did before you.    … Expand

    For me it's absolutely beautiful. It's not perfect,but i i had fun 90% of the game.even if you have seen the leaks it doesn't matter i did too but i honestly didn't feel this much emotion even in the first game.But there are some things that i don't like that other people liked for example i think playing as Abby for 5 hours...could be shortened.But you need to play the whole game and experience it.You don't get games like these anymore,It makes you feel so much.     I don’t know why people are bombing this game - but I absolutely love it. It’s emotional, it’s tense, it’s violent. It could be too violent but honestly I think it makes it better, it’s what makes me nervous and have this sense of dread playing. Give it a chance.

    The only selling point of this game is the control and details of the game, but the story still making me sick and I withstand it anymore.

    Beyond the story, which everyone writes about, there is serious issues with the gameplay as a whole. Eviromental puzzles are pretty much gone, things are watered down from the first game and    Looks good, sounds good. But everything in between lacks severely. I looked through everything a second time, and upped my score to 4 based on sound and visuals. But the story is what kills it.

    Beyond the story, which everyone writes about, there is serious issues with the gameplay as a whole. Eviromental puzzles are pretty much gone, things are watered down from the first game and things are just overall janky/clunky. If you take the story away, you have what amounts to a basic, dull "Go here, do that, shoot sometimes, repeat" walking simulator.

    And without going into too much detail, as it's been said thousands of times already. Diversity and edge for the sake of diversity and edge doesn't work and is honestly why this game has tanked for me.    … Expand

    Of course the leaks were not too accurate.
    I don't think this game has an agenda.
    Gameplay and visuals are superior.
    But Naughty dog ruined the story.
    The game should result in around 25 hours gameplay but for me it only lasted around 2 hours.
    Can't and won't play this game any further.

    I jumped to beat the two and I must say I'm disappointed. I avoided the spoilers that leaked before the premiere. Halfway through the game, it's a masterpiece. The graphics are stunning. It's amazing that they made this game on PS4, which is already years old. Animations, facial expressions, music is at highest level. The second half of the game is a problem for me. For the first half of the game I do not understand why people flood it with low marks, but after passing this game I am able to understand them. Of course, the game does not deserve 2/10, but neither does 9.5 / 10. If I were to rate, I would say that The Last of Us part 2 is a 6/10 game.    … Expand

The world is beautiful and the acting with its characters able to be seen as different. Now here's the painful truth. Naughty Dog wanted to give us a bittersweet story but the bitter leaves you a disgusting taste. Last of us 1 gave us hope and the idea that humans are complex.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The amount of soul crushing disappointment that I feel is beyond words. For me, TLOU has so much emotional value, it has been such an intense part of my life for years. It managed to get me to care about characters that had very little screen time or dialogue. How this sequel managed to not only lose all of that, but got me to feel either dislike or nothing at all, is something I couldn't explain.

    Very flat, repetitive dialogue. Ellie has no resemblance of who she was, or who she used to be. She is not the snarky, smart-ass we grew to love in the first game, and even though she has changed, I feel that part of her would never truly go away. The most emotion she even emits is during the dreaded scene. I feel like I don't know who this is. This isn't Ellie. You can call her that and claim that it's her, but that's not her.

    As an LGBT person I feel used. The context of Joel's death was "if only Ellie hadn't been having sex with Dina, Joel may still be alive". That rubs me the wrong way. How dare you. You can sit there and tell me that the only people who dislike this game are homophobes, but I've seen what you've done. Absolutely unacceptable.

    As a trans person, I feel utterly disrespected. Trans villains are fine & dandy, but the villain you have crafted we are given no reason to empathize or sympathize with them, understand their motives until AFTER they have killed an already well-established, beloved, well rounded character. We spend the game playing the person we now hate, being forced to relate to her /now/.

    Terrible.
    Doing this in the first few hours was one of the most risky decisions possible, and it is one that I will keep in mind as what NOT to do when writing stories in the future. You bank off of our trauma and call it progressive. Call us wrong for not enjoying what you have force fed down our throats.

    I really did at one point believe that Neil Druckmann meant what he said, that TLOU was about the story of Joel and Ellie. They were a unit and you broke them up. For what? What happened? I don't even want to know anymore. I'm tired of everything I love being **** with. Lesson learned! Never get emotionally attached to anything because the creators will make you feel like a horrible person for doing so.

    I was excited to see Ellie in a same-sex relationship, but now it only leaves a sad, bitter taste in my mouth. You want people to hate your game? You don't want to have fun? Fine. I don't have to acknowledge the existence of this game anymore than I have, because it honestly doesn't deserve it.

    You want representation? Hire LGBT/POC/Black staff. Listen to their voices. Don't ever do anything like this. No amount of good graphics or improved game mechanics or accessibility options, as good as they may be, will ever cover this up or somehow make it less hurtful or harmful. What a terrible time to release a game such as this during Pride month.

    You killed my fictional father and spat on his face and ended not only his life, but any kind of **** that I was going to give about this series.

    I say goodbye, knowing that I will never look back on anything other than the first and only game.    … Expand

The cool & interesting hero is not the protagonist anymore and is literally gone after a few hours and the "more" is actually something, that games and art generally should have less of...

    And that is pandering, virtue signalling and an agenda-driven intention, to push ideologies. Don't get me wrong, an artist generally can of course use art as a way to express the personality, feelings or to sent a message, in my opinion – that is totally welcome and interesting for a reflective recipient, no matter if agreeing with the artist or not. But in this case, an form of art is MISUSED to PUSH their own viewings and ideas on others drastically... And as a gamer since the 80s, that is something I want, can, should and must not tolerate. So, I raise my voice as a real GAMER via this platform and say NO to The Last of Us Part II.

    Out of a quite well-narrated grim action game with emotional moments for mature players, they made a dull teenager walking simulator drama infected with identity politics.

    I am afraid of what they might do to Nathan in the future, if they decide to carry on with the Uncharted Franchise. I mean, he is a cool, masculine straight white male, right? And that is something, that does not fit their agenda at all... but hairy arm pits, folks, hairy arm pits on females do. Apparently.

    Hope that Naughty Dog will soon announce: "THE LAST GAME OF US".

    game shoves an annoying "empowered woman" agenda down your throat the entire time. Like we get it. You're progressive naughty dog. Cool graphics are the only saving grace for this snore fest. Imagine a movie, but you have to watch them walking everywhere in between scenes and listen to the small talk.
