    They butchered the story, it makes 0 sense, also there is not much of an upgrade from the previous game asides from graphics.

    I was excited after the game was released, at first I didn’t knew why people talking **** about this game but when I ended the story I realized that I wasted hours and a lot of money on this piece of **** called TRIPLE A GAME such a big word for a enhanced animation with such a **** up story, Sure graphic was fine a few minutes of minutes of fights was fine too but what else?!!!     Anything below a 9/10 for this game is just an entitled gamer wanting attention. Last of Us 2 is a masterpiece and must be played. Disregard the 30K crybabies that can't get over the direction ND went with the storytelling.

    It’s beautiful and the game play is more creative and has more options than the first one. The scenery is incredible as always. There’s a lot of character tension and empathy building (maybe that’s what all the haters are trying to resist? Experiencing conflicting feelings?) Love it, love it, love it.

All of these are amazing and are the only reason the game comes close to a 6. Meanwhile, the storytelling, while it would be "ok" for another franchise from another unknown developer, it is mindblowingly worse compared not only to the first Last of Us but also to almost every other game in Naughty Dog's catalog. The story is repetitive, bringing a stupid concept about "revenge bad" that is constantly hammered in the players head, but it is also meaningless, with the whole story being driven by Ellie's desire to take revenge only not to do it at the last minute. It teaches the player nothing and is absolutely upsetting and even disappointing for most of the fanbase. The characters are quickly introduced and are not developed in any way, but sometimes I think they shouldn't be, since most of them are killed and forgotten about 5 minutes later. Everything the game had coming for it, specially coming from a amazing game that is LoU, it's thrown away for a bad storytelling and quick cash grab. Not only could this game give players second thoughts when buying a Naughty Dog game, it can also make the writer/ Neil Druckman's career questionble or even worthless; when someone who wrote the first Last of Us or even the best games on the Uncharted franchise writes the generic and lame story this game presents. At the end, Joel's death was nothing more than a stupid way to star a meaningless revenge story that ends in nothing. At the end, this game deserves nothing more than a 5, a 5 that is only there because of visuals.… Expand

    *No Spoilers* Prepare to get triggered but I love this game. It's easily the best PS4 exclusive games imo. The graphics add so much to the scenery and environments are nothing short of amazing, the PS4 was being pushed to its limits with this game. The score is simplistic and subtle which matches the tone and it knows when to shut up and let you figure out how to feel as you explore an*No Spoilers* Prepare to get triggered but I love this game. It's easily the best PS4 exclusive games imo. The graphics add so much to the scenery and environments are nothing short of amazing, the PS4 was being pushed to its limits with this game. The score is simplistic and subtle which matches the tone and it knows when to shut up and let you figure out how to feel as you explore an abandoned house and find a suicide note next to a skeleton instead of playing stock sad music like "HEY KID THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU THINK OH THAT'S SAD". The game play is masterful. the enemy variation makes everything interesting like say you were in an intense stealth section where you are being hunted by the WLF but there's also a clicker or two in the environment, do you stealth kill the clicker and get it out of the way or do you throw a bottle and let it thin out some of the WLF. combat encounters like these force you to work out strategies on the fly and if your first strategy doesn't play out well then try another and find one that suits the situation. finally the one that most take issue with, the big one... the story. now this is a very subjective part but I'm going to try to explain what I like so this part is entirely from me, if you disagree then dog bless. the story is a game about hatred which provides a great contrast to the first game which is about love. all the characters are well written and the dialogue is great, some of Naughty Dogs best work in fact. all the veteran characters are handled well and organically. all of their decisions align with their personality in the first game. The new characters are all welcome additions that are hard not to love or hate. I was okay with the controversial choices made with these characters that others seemed to dislike and I fell for the first shocker of the story that had me hooked until the credits rolled. it's a fantastic game and is worth every penny of the price, the best PS4 has to offer.… Expand

The trailers post fake cutscenes misrepresenting things that happen. The story is ludicrous and incomplete. The graphics are stunning, what a lot of beautiful places to visit. And the gameplay is an upgraded version of the first one, which makes total sense.

The people giving this game a zero are the same people complaining the gameplay is nothing new but are mad that the story isn’t more of the same. Is this game a 10? Idk, maybe. I do think last of us part 2 was unbelievable with the combat and graphics so that doesn't need to be said any further. I do believe Ellie and Tommy will be in the next last of us, based off what we saw at the end.… Expand

    I've rarely been affected this much by a game. It's an artistic achievement beyond anything that has been done before now in a video game. It'll make you happy, it'll make you angry (some people are so angry by the content of the game that they've stopped playing it!). I cannot stress how incredibly important this game is for the gaming industry as a whole, but for entertainment in general.

I can even forgive playing the supposed antagonist (a psychopath by the way), or re-writing history. BUT extremely lazy writing, horrible character assassinations, coupled with really bad story I can never forgive.

    However weird it may sound for a game several years in development; this game feels rushed. They did not have time to put in a good flowing narrative, they did not have time to check the dialogue, they did not have time to develop characters or write a compelling story. A game and a franchise which is all about the story, has a sequel which cares nothing about the story. Revenge is evil, circle of evil, and revenge is bad. Got it? Oh no? Let us remind you of this 100 times so you understand what this game is about - revenge is bad!
    That is it? That is what you come up with after several years of writing and development?

    I am not sure if this is the worst sequel of all time, but seeing how the first game was close to a masterpiece I have to conclude that The Last of Us II is the worst sequel of all time. Do not buy this, do not play it. Complete waste of time. Revenge is bad, all you need to know.     Writing is one of the worst I've seen.
    I was so hyped for this because I thought this game would at least be comparable to it's predecessor, but it really isn't.
    Killing off one of the main characters that the first game is literally built on is just not a good idea.
    Trying to force sympathy for a completely new character in just a few minutes of cutscenes just doesn't work.
    It just feels that they intentionally made this game bad just to annoy the fans.
    Making a revenge based story where the protagonist doesn't even get the revenge? Who thought this was a good idea?
    I am really disappointed.
    For the love of god, don't buy this game. It's honestly just a waste of money. Making this game was just a waste of time. Seven years just for this? I didn't even mention the glitches. Save your money for something actually good, please.    … Expand

    If someone is suddenly interested in the particulars of my perception and subjective assessment: only two days after passing did I understand how much I admire The Last of Us Part II from the first to the last second. But during the passage I laughed out loud and turned off, I despised her and even completely denied it. They disrespected one of my favourite characters of last Gen, and literally spit on his corpse. Not only that, but the way that to his death was badly written, like everything conspired so that Abby would be attacked by clickers and Saved by Joel, and she had no idea that it was him who killed her father, and just like that, Joel and his brother end up on the camp of Abby's clan and trust them (even though they have years of experience and know that there bandits and merciless people out there) and are like hi my name is Joel Miller... That's just ridiculous, cartoon level of writing.
    Now the ending, my god the ending, Joel dies like 2hours in, so you spend all the journey with Ellie, killing everyone on your way to get to Abby and take revenge, and guess what, REVENGE BAD, she fights her, drwons her, then get a flash back of Joel playing guitar, and then let her go? Like what? What?! You're telling me that the guy who sacrificed the world for you, died because of this decision, and you killed everyone to get to the killer and avenge him, then decide nah, not worth it...
    I'm seriously speechless, if you've noticed I haven't talked about anything LGBT or Agenda pushing **** I have no problem with them, my problem with the game goes beyond that, I love old Bioware games, and they already had gay characters, so nothing new.
    And talking about nothing new, well, the gameplay hasn't evolved that much, jump button, sprint jump, dodge? I mean it's the same TLOU1 experience expanded in some open areas. I would rather recommend you buy Days Gone you can get it for cheap, has good gameplay and sandbox, and is also a zombie apocalypse game.    … Expand

But the story of this game has broken my heart. I really like the story of this game , the connection between the characters . I understand why there is a lot of hate to this game , but if we close eyes on it , I wouldnt say that the game will be much more better . I understand the main message from Neil Druckmann ,about all this moral stuff and how your desire to revenge can be fatal for you. But we were waiting for this game for 7 years ,we wanted to see another story ,this main characters are alive , both of them. I cant understand Abby's actions. You start the game with killing of the main character. You are starting to hate Abby and you dont want to know her story and why she decided to do it.

    We all see the LGBT advocacy , this is why this game loses a few points instantly. I dont care about this stuff ,but in the game where we see an inflated woman , its **** my friends . In this game women better than men everywhere . I think if this game hadnt got a LGBT advocacy it would be much more better , the characters of this game wouldnt be looking like this one. Abby would looking pretty much better and more beautiful.

    I understand players reaction on this game. I wanted to see another story , this game is too violent.

    realmente uno de los mejores juegos para despedir esta generación de consolas, si aun no has comprado el juego, no te dejes llevar por las criticas puesto que la historia aunque no supera a la de la primera parte no se queda atrás, siendo mejor que muchos títulos AAA de la actualidad y una muy buena jugabilidad sin mencionar lo bueno que son sus gráficos. RECOMENDADO

Joel was never a good person, he was always somewhat despicable, yet he loved and protected those close to him. To the Fireflies, Joel was a heartless villain. And this game aims to address that. You spend the first half of the game despising Abby and her friends for killing Joel and then you go on a killing spree as Ellie, slaughtering these people you see as monsters. In the second half, you play from the other perspective, and come to love the characters you spent the first half of the game murdering. They are good people who do bad things, just as Ellie is a good person who does bad things. Both Ellie and Abby are out for vengeance over the death of a loved one. Both of them are simultaneously wrong and right all at the same time. The game forces you to come to grips with the fact that the NPCS in video games that you kill in cold blood, have people who love them. And to them YOU are the bad guy. It's a lot to handle, and I can't think of another example where it has been done before. There are no bad guys, there are no good guys; it's all a matter of perspective.… Expand

    I really did not expect such a bad story after all these years of waiting. While there were some really good points, most of the games were filled with holes in the plot. It just took elements of what worked in the first game, not understanding what makes them irresistible. I really did not like the game

    Honestly I don't know what Naughty Dog were thinking when they drafted the script, because it is terrible and it is such a shame that the story turned out this way, it is so bad that it manages to sour the entire experience

Great rope physics, story made me want to put them to good use, hated every second of the steaming pile of crap that naughty dog dropped on the TLOU series, didn’t really believe that sjw ideals mattered so much in a post apocalyptic world where death is around ever corner, would’ve thought survival would’ve taken priority but there we go.     People who can't make a good story should have no business making a game that's heavily story oriented. Killing off your main character in a way that is without the least bit of honor and then making the player play the game as your main character's murderer is utter garbage.

She just acts casually and always composed throughout the story. The fact that Joel entered that shed casually is a disgrace on its own, let alone the fact how he died. He didn't even know why he died. We didn't know, for something like 17 hours. We had to play with the character we hated for 8 hours. Characters were shallow, dialogue was bad. Gameplay and graphics is not everything Naughty Dog but story is. You might have a really flawed game but if the story is good, people will tolerate it. But if your story is something like a fanfiction, well you know what happens if that is the case. You had an amazing universe to expand on and you completely ruined it with this game. It seems you didn't even understand what made the first game special and what made it work. And that ending, oh god... Did any of you read this script before you green lit it? Anyway, I hope now you guys realized paying for reviews for your incredibly badly written game won't save you.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7 years for this?! now the story is absolute garbage the graphics are not impressive and the game play is basically the same as the first one but with a little bit more stuff. the reason the story is really bad is because of a lot of things but the one that was so bad was Joel's death and the ending now Joel's death was so underwhelming i teared up when Sarah died in the first game but when Joel died in TLOU2 i laughed because his death was just so ridiculous after Joel dies its basically a copy of the first game the only difference is that there are no characters to like or relate to, you just go around shoot some soldiers if you are not doing those things its just a walking sim. the ending is just so bad they tried to be like OH REVENGE BAD UWU FRIENDSHIP and its just really bad. Abby is so masculine that people thought she was transsexual but i guess in an apocalypse where food is scarce Abby can just be hulk and her character is even worse, naughty dog tries first to make Abby look good and then they make us absolutely hate her and then she becomes the "good guy" and the game tries to make Ellie and Joel look like the villain which is really stupid. TLDR The graphics are not insane but they don't hurt to look at. the game play is boring because you don't really have a reason to play since the story is an absolute dumpster fire and the ending doesn't leave you asking for more but instead it feels like a terrible fan fiction. Don't buy this game the "professional" reviews are fake this game is not even close to being a masterpiece. just.. a disappointment.… Expand

It feels completely unneeded and literally just exists to make you feel bad. Nothing satisfying to find from this game besides the amazing graphics. Also the writing is horrible i really don't understand how the flashbacks between Joel and Ellie are the onlyI honestly have no idea why this game exists.     Borrowed it, and Im glad I did. Im not sure who wrote this, but its so far from the first game that I can't believe its a sequel.
    The visuals are stunning, the combat and environment is engaging and interesting.
    But the story, Jesus **** christ how bad it is. What a shame.

And it lasts about 25 hours! 25 !!! And 10 of them you have to endure Abby. You do not worry about her and can’t sympathize this character. It has no emotional connection.

    Do not let corrupt journalists fool you.
    Do not give your money to Neil Drackmann. He does not know anything about real people and their relationships.

    They hired a **** 14 yo to make the "moral dilemmas" in this game about revenge, and at the end you just left the **** girl who killed Joel scaped (a very out of character death and a pretty stupid one btw), after kill like 8 **** people just because "revenge is not good".

    Did they actually work on this in 7 years? **** you Naughty Dog. This is not even a spoilers, I´m saving you a good bucks, play some other **** Play The Witcher 3 again or Idk. I´m **** pissed off.    … Expand

A lot of people came onto here to express how they hate all the "left wing propaganda" but honestly grow up and review the game for what it is. The gameplay is enhanced significantly with many things that felt missing from the first game like the ability to go prone and have more jumping sections. This game has many deep themes with i'm not sure most players have picked up on. I see a lot of people say that the story makes absolutely no sense and that they don't understand why Ellie would not kill Abby in the ending, These people OBVIOUSLY didn't play and finish the game because it was quite obvious as to why she did what she did. The WHOLE GAME was building to that point. The message is that everyone is the same and everyone has different experiences. There is no justice in the apocalypse. There is no right and wrong. That one is especially important as that is what Ellie has to come to terms with and learn throughout the 30 hour experience. She comes to understand that Ellie and Abby are the same, both attempting to get justice and revenge in an unfeeling, cruel world where neither exist. Alongside the story of Ellie coming to forgive Abby, she comes to forgive Joel. Throughout the game she has flashbacks to her time with Joel, the good and the bad. And she comes to understand why he did what he did. At the same time she is trying to understand what kind of person could do that to Joel and as she finally comes to terms with Joel's decision she realises that she is the exact same as Abby. She understands that killing Abby will no longer achieve anything because what she really wanted was not revenge, but acceptance. Since Ellie has finally accepted her past with Joel and what her life means, she knows that killing Abby will only continue the cycle of revenge and death and not achieve anything. THE WHOLE GAME HAS BEEN BUILDING TO THIS POINT OF SEEING ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE. The game is literally built for this purpose. We have 50% Ellie, 50% Abby. Two women who desperately want to kill the other. We play as BOTH and, at least I did, feel for both characters. I was genuinly invested in the characters of Owen, Mel, Abby and Lev in the second half and when I came to one of the later missions where I find the corpses of both characters alongside the corpse of the lovable dog you've been playing with the whole game I felt huge remorse and sadness because I know that I KILLED THEM only a few hours ago. Not only this between the two leads, but between the main characters and every other enemy in the game. Any time you kill someone in a group in front of someone else, another enemy will shout "NOOO SARAH" or something similar, indicating that Wolf or Seraphite that you just killed had a name, friends, family and relationships with those around them and you just ended that in a push of a button. This happens throughout the entire game. As well as this, you find notes from the enemy sides either when your playing as Abby and killing Seraphites or when you play as Ellie and killing Wolves. You find notes from them detailing experiences and lives they had. The entire game is building towards the final moments where Ellie finally realises why other people made certain decisions.… Expand

In my own critical opinion the story felt unbelievable, many decisions over the story makes no sense, commonly known as the "plot armor", many relationships which TLOU2 focused on more than the story itself, felt forced and scripted in a terrible timeline of events.

    TLou2 felt like the beginning stage to plan this game was, how to make more brutal and gruesome? to show the cruelty of the world they live in by breaking the boundaries of what games have shown in violent and sexual acts to fake easier an impact or shock.

    CHARACTERS: a big problem here since any character respecr what they were on the previous entry, they as well could be other characters if it werent for the resemblance and it shows strongly when they reckoned Tlou1 in form of amazing flashbacks which make you wish all the game were just in the past. Without going into spoilers. Its is hard to recommend this game to others, it has a few awesome sub-plots, clearly doesnt deserve anything less than a 5 just for visuals and sound but when story is what are you selling and its terribly written in a way that would want to make you stop playing and bought for 60 dlls to see such a disrespectful story to tlou legacy. It hurts its own fan base which i was into, without amy hennig as the main writter and lead i wouldnt be interested in a sequel to this.

    Planned actually a 7 but since story is the heaviest point to be able to replay, i did give it more weight and as a 6 i cant recommend it, (PASS) unless you really want to experience the story by yourself even with all the warnings    … Expand
