    Yet another game publisher that has bought its ‘great reviews’ just to drum up hype and make their sales targets like death stranding...best game of this generation? Pfft! More like a lesbian romp with a terrible script. Managed to sell mine on ebay and get my money back before its value goes down to a 5er in 2 weeks time.

    An insult to our beloved Joel and TLOU franchise. If you want a feeling of what it is like, just think about the last season of GOT, which never should have been shot; thus this game should never have been made. As a legend once cried: My dissappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined!

This wasn't in first game, i know the agenda now it's all about LGBT and stuff but come on, this is a game, it's a history about a poor girl that its immune to a virus that is killing population, you just went to far, so awkward playing with my son watching 2 girls having such intimacy, i mean it's not wrong, but that's not the story i want to play, simply pointless, absurd, awful and disrespectful to people.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay is an upgraded version of the part 1. It integrates a few new features like dodging and crouching and creeping (and you are still 100% available to do things while doing it).

    You can upgrade your character and your weapons, (as you can on the previous game).
    The graphics are very good and the animations are gorgeous.
    ¿Why i'm giving it a 2 then?... Because of the story... That fk piece of s*** caused me to hate this game and it took away all my craving for replaying it.

    The ending is just a part of the problem, and not the problem itself. The game tries to represent that "vengance is bad"... But let me be clear. It tries to do that by not taking revenge against someone that already took revenge... With Joel, killing him at the start of the game.

    Don't take me wrong, Joel had it coming from what he did on the previous game, but doing the people wait YEARS to kill the protagonist of the previous game at the start of this game... It's just a nonsense.

    I'm gonna talk about how this game tries to convince you of not taking revenge because vengance is bad and nothing good comes from it.
    Ellie does not kill the assassin of Joel, (which was Abby). But does not matter if she does or doesn't kill Abby, the plot hole is still there.
    How so?... Well Abby took revenge of Joel, and Ellie didn't with Abby... That means that nothing bad came from Abby's vengance, woohoo -> Plothole (since nothing bad came from vengance).

    Now lets think on the hypothetical situation of Ellie taking revenge on Abby and killing her... Now Abby's dead, woohoo -> Plot hole, since nothing bad came from vengance.
    Now lets think on the other hypothetical situation... Abby takes revenge on Joel and Ellie takes revenge on Abby... BUT, then the partner of Abby wakes up from the boat and kills Ellie, and nothing bad happens to him, woohoo -> Plot hole again, since nothing bad came from vengance.

    It doesn't really matter what you do, vengance it's still there and the plot hole too. What the **** they are actually trying to represent with "vengeance being bad".
    (Also, Ellie didn't took revenge on Abby and still lost her girlfriend by trying to do it... Oh, and two of her fingers too, preventing her from playing the guitar song that Joel teached her).

    Now im going to actually enumerate which contributions this game does to the "The last of Us" Universe. Ready?
    - Joel dies.
    - Tommy (Joel's brother) gets blind from an eye.
    - Ellie's friend Jesse dies.
    - Ellie's girlfriend Dina almost dies, and breaks with Ellie leaving her.
    - Ellie loses 2 fingers.
    * (An everything it's caused by Abby, the one that Ellie let go unpunished).
    Wow, awesome!, I can't wait to play this game again and revive all this beatiful moments!.

    - This is the case in wich doesn't matter AT ALL if the game it's a 10 on gameplay, mechanics, animations, and soo... Because the story it's SO SO SO Fu***ng bad!, that now i'm completely disgusted with it and I prefer to thinkg that it got cancelled and never came out.

    absolute garbage of a game, HOW could they destroy a game like TLOU? They ruined everything, from being a joy and pleasure to play it in tlou 1 , now it s boring chores and repetitive tasks in tlou 2 but the MOST DISGUSTING part is the pushing of pc, sjw and all agendas in this game..Just make sure that trash VP Neil Druckmann never works again in the gaming industry game, industry.

    The way Joel was killed was just lame, trash and fast made. I can understand the way you guys wanted to tell the story about Abby, Her dad and Joel with the Fireflys but it could have been done very differently. The way we merge into Abby her story on how her 3 days went in Seattle shouldnt have happend mid way of the game and that when we meet Ellie as Abbie in the theater we should have had the control back of Ellie and not Abbie. Also making it seem like Tommy also was dead after he was shot shouldnt also have happend. You guys really wanted ''if you could do it'' kill of every character in the game from Joel and Ellie their side to make Abbie seem like the new main hero of the game. After finding out where Abbie and Lev are told by Tommy and later finding and fighting Abbie Ellie shouldve killed her instead of letting her go. She deserved to be killed and be dead after all the things she had done. And then the lamest of all. After returning without killing Abbie Dina also left without saying a word. The house was empty and everything was gone except Ellie her room. Where was a note from Dina telling where she went with the baby?! We were just left with Ellie playing the guitar missing her two fingers not being able to play the notes. Dina and the baby missing and their house being empty. The ending was just absolute trash. I get the message of having revenge is not always the answer but to leave Ellie with nothing behind is just pure pepega. You guys already slaughtered her and her side the whole **** game but to give her an ending with literally nothing and also not even the things and people she loves is just pure trash. We waited 7 years for this?! Remake the game like we wanted. Not like this absolute garbage.    … Expand

    best game I have ever played, the characters have a great weight, the story holds us back, it still made a giant evolution in part of the gameplay and I loved it. I highly recommend this game

    Abby was a completely **** character that had zero personality and no appeal. Joel was killed off and received zero screen time unless it was a flashback. ND wrote the story of this game like it was their first one they ever did. They **** SUCK.

    I have played this game start to finish and i have to say this is the worst storywriting i have seen in a long time.Narrative and how its constructed throughout the gameplay is just a straight downgrade into a dumpsterfire if you compare with the first game.A beautiful story like TLOU does not deserve a badly constructed mediocre sequel like this.

    Postive things
    - The gameplay feels so close with part 1 that makes you feel like you were in home
    - You're gonna love Ellie's flashbacks.
    - Ellie and Dina have a natural relationship that does not feel forced at all.
    Neutral things
    - Despite the fact that it's a PS4 game the graphics feels so PS3, Do´not misunderstand me, they look great but ND could improve more in some facial actions like Dina, sometimes feels kind of computarized compared to Ellie.
    - Sometimes the exploration takes so much time just for nothing that makes it boring, kind of Death Stranding
    Negative Things:
    - Flashbacks inside flashbacks
    - The History has a bad writting, the circle of violence became a joke
    - Abby is not what you though but her character feels forced in the history    … Expand

    I enjoyed this game. There is some room for improvement however in the story but the environment was breathtaking, combat was pretty fun and extremely brutal.

    I can't believe I waited 7 years for this... What a disappointment, the graphics are good and the gameplay average at best, other than that, there's not much I can say I personally liked about the game.

    The story is absolutely horrendous, especially after having played the first game.

    Me and my friend just beat the game and it's just bad the game play and graphics as great but this game is marketed and sold purely on is narrative witch sucks it's nothing more then a badly done revenge story. It's amazing the first God of War trilogy did the revenge story so well while The last of us 2 does it so poorly considering there both Sony games.

    Visually this game left me speechless (although it was to be expected), the gameplay is quite good although the A.I left a lot to be desired. Where I have a big problem is how they handled certain events, they sent everything I loved from the TLOU1 to the garbage dump, you can enjoy the game for the gameplay but there is no doubt that the story is ****

    Storywise this game is completely terrible and spits on what made the last game great, Joel and Ellie. Considering that this is practically a (somewhat) interactive film as the gameplay is monotonous the story is the only thing that could save this game. Overall, extremely disappointing, I couldn't bring me to play after one of the character's deaths.

Naughty Dog is comprised of sadistic human beings that hold no moral values. In the first game we are tasked with ensuring the safety and survival of a young 14 year old MINOR girl. We play as both Ellie and Joel, who meets Ellie after losing his daughter who was roughly the same age. The original game is designed to make you feel like you are a PARENT to Ellie and the story and script truly make you care for these characters. As we watch Joel and Ellie struggle to survive the world and eachother the story brings the two characters closer together until they become inseperable. Flash forward to the sequel which was released 7 years after the original. Ellie is now 19 and despises Joel for saving her life. Regardless of how much they have gone through together and how strong their relationship was at one point they now seem distant. Near the beginning of the sequel we find out that our daughter that we worked so hard to raise and keep safe in the first game is now a lesbian. Which I have absolutely no problem with and I'm happy for her. What I do have a problem with is having to watch a lewd intimate scene that involves a young girl whom WAS 14 YEARS OLD THE LAST TIME WE SAW HER. Shortly after they decide to kill Joel in the story whom was one of the most respected video game characters ever created. They then decide to rub it in your face by having Ellie go to his house directly after which is filled with memories of their time together. After this the game and story become very linear and shallow. The issue is that all of this happens at the beginning of the game and really leaves no where for the story to go, no room for characters to grow etc. It feels like way more of a grind than an adventure very unlike the first game. All I really have to say is that Joel was a good man and a hero. He did not deserve to go out like that. Naughty Dog didn't just kill Joel though, they killed the entire franchise. For 15 hours (10 played as abby give or take) you play as Ellie as you are murdering your way with 1 objective in mind , got to kill Abby for killing Joel. If they wanted to deconstruct the story and/or genre there were plenty of better ways to do it. But what did you expect ?     Visuals & sound design are the best thing I’ve ever seen / heard in a game or even maybe a film. The story is fantastic, the writing is well done & it conveys a point, the moral dilemmas of the characters & the fact that they’re just human & they have issues & unavoidable things they must face & seeing the light sometimes too late.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was excited for Last of Us 2 since its announcement as i enjoyed the first one greatly. I played this game and i have never been let down so much in my life. This is all because of the poorly written story. All of the deaths felt rushed or dry and the ending of game had no pay off and just made you felt bad because you played the game.

    Abby had potential to be a good character but forcing you to play her after you just watched her kill a favourite character is awful. You get zero interaction between Joel and Ellie in the actual game as he is dead within the first hour of the game.

    The best scene in the game is actually a flashback that involves no combat or story progression with showing Ellie receiving a birthday gift of a tour of a dinosaur / space museum from Joel. This scene is what LOU2 should've been but it was tainted by poor writing and character deaths.

    The game makes you feel bad by making you hunt down and kill the people who killed Joel and then make you play as Abby to showcase the pain you've caused. But this doesn't matter as they don't bring these characters up ever again. Manny was one of Abby's best friends and he gets sniped by Tommy and killed, he is never mentioned ever again by Abby. It also pulls this pregnancy card by making you feel bad because you killed a pregnant girl, even though she resisted when you asked her to point on a map and attacked you.

    Jesse was a fun character who cracked multiple jokes at all times with a bright personality and was a good adition to the cast, but was wasted drastically as he had like 6 scenes in the game and is killed off because he ran through a door and shot dead instantly. He is then forgotten like he never existed and only ever mentioned once again after him dying like 40% through the story on a **** piece of paper which is just focused on Dina.

    Dina was a good character which also was ruined by being placed in the back. She comes with you to hunt down Abby but mentions she is pregnant and is told to stay still in the Theatre and uses a radio to track down Abby via her friends. It makes sense to stay put but just sleeps after that and gets no screen time until later on where She and Ellie in a generic "Happy Ever After" scene where they get their own farmland and house with a great view away from all of the evils and society. But she just ditches Ellie when she goes back to hunt down and finish abby.

    Then Issac the leader of the Wolfs just dies, accomplishing nothing to the story other than to make it understandable how the Wolfs lost the attack to the scars because they had no leader. The two scars where okay characters but where ruined by little screen time they show up late into the story and get a good story arc by saving abby from other scars, then its ruined by the child scar getting upset and running back home to his mom, despite running away from him cause he mom tried to kill him.

    The last scenes shows another group which uses others as slaves by pretending to be Fireflies. Abby and Lev are caught and forced into slavery for 2 months. Ellie hunts them down to this area and attacks the compound to hunt down and kill Abby. She finds her but she is very skinny and basically on the brink of death to make you feel bad for Abby and then they fight each other with Abby restraining from fighting but being forced to by Ellie. Ellie then wins the fight and is about to kill Abby and decides not to because Revenge is bad, then lets her go and loses two fingers in the fight and heads back home to find Dina has left her and She can't play guitar anymore.

    The combat was ok. It was good but certain set pieces are poorly balanced on the Hardest Difficulty. Such as the area where you must wait for Lev took rescues from a horde which attacks in you in a locked room before they bust down a ambulance window. If you are low on supplies this room gives you little to none to survive which makes it impossible and can be a soft-lock. Later combat sections are just large open fields with large amount of patrolling enemies which drop the FPS drastically and force you to kill to proceed but on the Hardest Difficulty this is frustrating because you can't aim precisely against large groups of enemies with a PS4 controller.

    To put this shortly. This game feels like everybody worked their butt off to produce an amazing game but they were forced to follow bad directions from poor story telling by N. Druckman. This game does everything but the story really well and since this game is all about the emotional story which was what made the LOU1 a masterpiece. It kills the game and makes it a chore to play with no pay off.

    I believe this was necessary for the story. Naughty Dog really wanted to shock the player throughout the game and this was a good shock. I honestly don’t believe any other character dying would propel Ellie on such a journey and that’s why its so powerful. Last game was Joel’s story, this was Ellie’s. Not much needs to be said.

    The next big factor is Abby. At the start, we are made to hate this character but in time, she started to grow on me. After those first three hours or so, when I saw Joel’s life had been taken by this Abby, I despised her. Despised. I generally believed nothing was going to change my opinion about her. Even after I found out her reasoning easily I still hated her because I had an attachment to Joel and Ellie. She only started to really grow on me when we play as her during the second half. Her character is so very intricate. Of course the attachment did not compare to the attachment to Ellie by any stretch of the imagination. All the time, I was playing the game I was being very critical as there are high standards with the first game and I thought to myself, the whole story would essentially makes sense if it was just Ellie hunting down everyone and we didn’t see Abby’s perspective. However, although Abby’s 10 hour-ish journey comes at a very bad time as it slows the pacing down a lot, I think it’s relatively well done as it makes me feel empathy for her to an extent as I see the effect of my actions as Ellie and how it will simply continue this “cycle of violence”.

    I believe this game is meant to start conversation, a necessary one, about the power of hate and “an eye for an eye”. In this game, there is a strong sense of nihilism and bleakness, I came out of this game feeling extremely depressed and sad, there is little to no happiness in this game, except from a few flashbacks - some of the best cutscenes, which are very powerful for character development and few dialogue/scenes. Ellie playing the guitar for Dina in Boston (open-world part) is beautiful and I’m pretty sure this part can be missed if the player chooses not to explore the world fully and I’m lucky to see this scene. I don’t usually write reviews and I know this is ridiculously positive but I tried to find cons and there’s not many. However, this is my opinion, I have seen many reviews that are very negative and they back it up with plot holes and a depressing mood which is fair and I plan to be replay the game to really understand their points. I could tell certain parts of the game were cut, meaning the story didn’t move as fluid as I would like it at certain points however it didn’t really affect this experience for me.
    The ending is quite powerful. Although this game been out for 2-3 days now I’m already done as it was incredibly immersive. At first I was rather disappointed by the end so I went to sit and reflect to realise what really happened. Ellie didn’t kill Abby to break that cycle of violence and leaving the guitar was leaving behind that saga of blood caused by Joel as he “lived” through that guitar - it is powerful but not what any wanted or expected. Genius. Not many people will like this though because revenge wasn’t exacted for Joel and the journey may seem utterly pointless. Abby got to live, Dina leaves Ellie, and Ellie is left alone in a bleak and depressing world. In terms of the characters that join the cast in the second game, they are likeable but getting attached to them just propels the sadness and grief that fills Ellie’s world. I won’t go into much detail about gameplay, all you need to know is that it is ridiculously fluid and spectacular to be honest, the improvements from the first game are small yet incredibly effective, mixed with immense amount of detail put into graphics and everything else in the game et cetera, makes this an amazing experience however controversial. I want to say this game is not for everyone and maybe we aren’t even meant to like it, however it is an amazing experience. I will play it again to fully take in the breathtaking experience at a slower rate and find some cons. Honestly, this is one of the best video games I have ever played, it’s harsh, it’s brutal and it’s controversial which is fair and probably desired by Neil Druckmann when coming up with the story. It is like a 9 and a half, as no game is perfect, there are plot holes and uncomfortable decisions such as playing as Abby, killing dogs etc, but this isn’t meant to be a comfortable game, this is meant to **** everyone upemotionally and it succeeded for me    … Expand

    I really wanted like to this game, but man was I disappointed. While it did have some great features it ultimately falls flat and fails miserably at delivering any meaningful message. For a game of this magnitude to lack any worthy essence of storytelling and character development is a total abomination.

    Leaks were right. Characters are unlikable and fake. Story is awkward and full of plot holes. The views, scenery and visuals are pretty good though. Not much has changed in general gameplay and mechanics, they feel the same like in the first game.

I was so excited for this game but it was so falsely advertised. I loved this franchise for JOEL MILLER. He was the defining factor in my love for the game. So perhaps my standards are higher than most fans of the series. But the jump in visuals and game play seem very minor for a new AAA game. That alone was what earned the 2 pity points.

    Every thing else about this game was pretty much a disappointment. How Sony and Naughtdog handled themselves leading up to it's release, the false promises and misleading trailers left a pretty sour taste in your mouth once you sit down and start playing the game. It was no surprise that I managed to get this game used about 24 hours after it's release, mostly so I wouldn't support the company with my purchase.

    The story is bleak, depressing and pretty much the core of the game. No one plays a single player story driven game to hate the story. So while the graphics, music, game play are some what average the main focus drives the score down imo. I thought about giving it a zero just to off set all the all the fake positive reviews but in the end decided it would be unfair.

    One of the features I found the most annoying is the complete by the rails story telling your forced into. This is a super linear game with pretty much no player choices that affect anything. Given the almost open world nature of the game and long slogs between story elements this seemed odd to me. It's like it wanted to be a Bethesda game, but couldn't be bothered to have branching story options or multiple endings.

    In the end this game is a mediocre game at best with a beyond disappointing pay off and story. If you love watching people and animals be tortured, mutilated and killed for 25+ hours this is the game for you. Otherwise give it a pass and watch the news for a few hours and you'll be just as depressed.    … Expand

    Other than the **** ending, the gameplay is quite fun. The Seraphites actually had me on my toes due to how they communicate, Shamblers are a fun enemy to fight, the Stalkers are actually pretty scary, and overall the enemies in this just feel better.

    The story starts off pretty strong, and you think to yourself “okay maybe this isn’t as bad as everyone says it is” and then Joel dies, and you see why everyone says the story is **** Along with that, the game has bad pacing issues in the beginning after Joel’s death. After Joel dies, absolutely NOTHING interesting happens for a good 2 **** hours. I was literally so **** bored for those 2 hours because all you do is just wander around Downtown Seattle with your horse finding some **** fuel for a generator. While most of the story is dog****, there are some high moments. The best moments are Ellie’s flashbacks with Joel, that is where it really feels just as amazing as the first one. Problem is, all those moments are spaced out between **** story moments.

    Most of the characters we know do some pretty stupid **** in this game. Like Tommy after talking with Ellie about the people responsible for Joel, he does a total 180 the next day and says “lock up Ellie if you have to, don’t let her come for me” not much is known about Tommy compared to Joel, but I am pretty **** sure that Tommy would instead go to Ellie’s house the next day ready and say **** this lets get these bastards”
    How **** cool would it be to have Tommy there with you, and he could act as a sort of voice of reason with Ellie once enough of the WLF are dead. She already has Dina to be her voice of reason, but it would be interesting to see Tommy just as bloodthirsty as Ellie and then say “they got what they deserved, we’re done here now and I’m fine with that” and Ellie refusing to let Abby get away with it. THAT would be interesting to see

    Now for Abby: I can see what they were going for, to make you say “she was wronged so she set out to resolve it” but it just does not work at all. It may work if there was more time spent with Abby before she kills Joel, like taking Abbys flashback with her dad and make that the beginning, that could make it a bit better. But in the game now, its just “oh this random ass person killed one of my favorite characters” and by the time it showed Abbys dad, it was already too far in the game for me to even give a **** Besides killing Joel, Abby is a pretty decent character. But I still did not give a single **** about any of her story parts because she is just introduced with killing Joel, which pissed me off immensely.

    As for the trans person, I’m fine with representation, but his entire character is “I’m trans and everybody wants to kill me because I’m trans” that is so **** lazy and I was extremely shocked how poorly that character was written

    I can’t recommend this game unless you are fully capable of turning your brain off and just enjoy the gameplay and visuals. Naughty Dog dropped a nuke on Nagasaki, and somebody needs to rewrite this because this story is unacceptable. Keep all the Ellie flashbacks and Abbys dad flashback, that was the only good Abby part. Make the trans person more than “I’m trans and everyone wants to kill me because I’m trans” take out the Abby gameplay segments, fix the pacing in the beginning of the game, and make the characters make rational decisions    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
